NEW POKÉMON IDEA

Desmond as a Ditto. I got nothing else, just imagining Desmond waking up as a Ditto and being so fuckin confused the first time he accidentally shapeshifts into a new Pokémon.

I’m just imagining Desmond waking up as a lil Ditto with Ditto parents who taught him how to shapeshift. Desmond can’t understand them at all with their “Ditto, Ditto” language but he managed to get what they’re trying to say.

Later on, when his parents hatched new Dittos, he leaves the small peaceful forest they were in and shapeshifts into a Pidgey and took flight.

The other Pidgeys and their evolutions see his eyes and they stay far away but that was fine.

Desmond just wanted to look around this new world he finds himself in.

A few months later, the gym leaders all hear about a young man, older than the usual trainers trying to get a badge from their gyms, battling the first gym leader and winning his first badge.

He wears a white hood and a full white mask that covers his entire face.

He does not speak, instead using hand gestures or using a text to speech app on his phone.

Why did the other gym leaders give them a head’s up?

Because he doesn’t order his Pokemons around, simply letting them fight freely.

(Of course Desmond can’t talk. The only thing he can say is “Ditto”. Also, he got the Pokeballs from the local evil organization of that continent. He also has a companion Ditto that stays by his shoulder who may or may not be his younger sibling, he’s not entirely sure. The Ditto just started following him around after a Pidgey and stayed with him. Now, every time a Pokedex register him, he gets the excuse of ‘saying’ the Pokedex was registering the Ditto that was clinging to him)

So Desmond can’t understand their French but would he be able to operate things since he’s a blob? Sure, Goomies don’t necessarily change their blob appearances but Desmond could probably learn how to use his blob appearance to tap things.

Why is this important?

Because even if Desmond is a Pokemon, he still has the skills of a pickpocket master and he’s seen people use the Pokedex (which he sorta mistake as a phone) and thought maybe he could use it to communicate.

It’s in French but Desmond uses 21st century tech so he can navigate the menus well enough to find the ‘change language’ setting.

Once it’s English, he realized that this Pokedex cannot be used to communicate in a way that Desmond needed it to.

But he does find the article for Goomy and that’s where he learns of possible attacks he could ‘learn’.

And…

Also the fact that there are notes about the Shiny Goomy (him) and how the Pokedex doesn’t even recognize him as a type of Pokemon, dun dun dun.

This started as an ask I was gonna send to @teecupangel but then it got like seven paragraphs long and I decided fuck it I’m just gonna make it a post and @ teecup. So here goes!

Another Pokémon!Desmond idea (ps: this got long, tldr; shiny Goomy uncatchable Des)

So to set the stage, AC universe happens as normal but, in the AC universe, pokemon as a franchise doesn’t exist. Just not a thing at all. So, starting off Desmond (who doesn’t know what Pokémon is) dies because of the Eye and poofs into a new universe as he does every other Tuesday.

Now, flash to a Pokémon region. I’m biased so I’ll say Kalos. But most work. Desmond appears on one of the earlier routes as a shiny Pokémon. Because I’m still biased, let’s say a shiny Goomy even though Goomies shouldn’t spawn there.

Desmond, newly goopified, doesn’t know what the fuck is going on. He’s a glob now. And the animals around him are fucking weird. And seemingly only live in the tall grass.

He can’t figure out how to use any of his “moves” outside of basically tackle and scratch and other similarly basic things. So he’s pretty dam weak, probably relatively low level, only thing he has going for him is that he’s fast and, relatively, smart. He’s still got human level intelligence which is enough to outsmart the vast majority of Pokémon.

He spends some time on this route, getting used to things, using his Eagle Vision (which he still has) to find berries, avoiding fights, and just enjoying his forced retirement to another universe. It’s Desmond, unless properly motivated, I think he’d be willing to settle in and chill.

But uh oh, trouble is afoot. In the form of! A CHILD no

This little kid toddles down the path with a belt full of pokeballs. Desmond, who is still new to this world, sees the kid and decides to approach. Why? Idk man, the brain cell got burned by the Eye.

The kid is like “OH MY GOD SHINY GOOMY!” And immediately initiates a Pokémon battle.

How does this feel to Desmond? Im not sure. But he definitely can tell somethings up when the kid starts screaming in another language, sounds like French? (If you get why, you get a cookie), and throws a ball that somehow summons another creature. Let’s say a Caterpie.

The Caterpie is low level, about as intelligent as a real caterpillar, and big. (Fun fact apparently Goomy and Caterpie are the same height). Now Desmond is concerned, especially when the kid yells a command and the huge ass bug attacks him. Caterpie only knows like three moves so it probably just tackles. Desmond, not being an idiot or actually a real Pokémon, dodges. The kid looks surprised but yells again and the Caterpie attacks again. After a few times, Desmond decides “Fuck this shit, I’m out.” and nopes on out of there. The kid is absolutely shocked that the shiny Goomy just ran from the battle and also that it dodged everything.

Desmond meanwhile, hidden now, checks on the kid and sees that they’re blue in Eagle Vision. He’s not sure whether to be surprised or not. On the one hand, he’s never seen a kid that was red, but on the other hand, this kid attacked him.

He metaphorically shrugs it off and continues foraging for berries, he’s trying out new combinations.

Meanwhile, this child runs back to wherever they came from, and eagerly spreads the news about the wild shiny Goomy they saw. Most people don’t believe them, but a couple other kids are curious enough to go looking later.

Another day begins and Desmond stumbles upon a group of kids this time. The original kid among them. They’re speaking quickly, yeah he’s pretty sure it’s French, too bad that’s one of the languages he barely gets (I don’t care if he’d know some via Ezio, he’d know 15th century French, not modern day Pokémon world French). They’re gesturing wildly and some of them are looking accusatorially at the original kid. Desmond tries to get a little closer and, just his luck, stumbles into view of the group. Uh oh.

Several minutes later, the kids are confused as hell, several Caterpies are furiously working their hamster wheel brains to understand what’s happening, and Desmond is starting to question what’s up with the people in this universe.

But something special happened this time. At one point, one of the kids threw a red and white ball at him. It bounced off his head and rolled on the ground, doing nothing. Desmond was just annoyed. The kids were flabbergasted.

Rumors spread until actual researchers are tramping through the tall grass. Desmond is definitely avoiding them. Even if they’re white in Eagle Vision, those lab coats remind him a bit too much of Abstergo.

Eventually, after the human presence becomes a bit too much, Desmond decides to hit the road and moves out from his comfy little tall grass patch in the middle of the night. He settles down again somewhere else.

Repeat cycle a few times until the whole of Kalos has heard tell of this shiny Goomy who nobody can catch and seems to roam the whole region.

Idk what’s happening from there. Begin plot of Pokémon X/Y? Maybe Desmond meets AZ? Lots of options but idk.

This was meant to be a quick project-between-projects, but it ended up being a project unto itself... (-w-)

I decided to do a spread of a bunch of characters dressed in outfits from Queen Bee videos.

From left to right:

Desmond Sycamore (Professor Layton series): Mephisto

Romeo (Lies of P): Teppeki

Melli (Pokémon Legends Arceus): No, I don't want to get High

707 (Mystic Messenger): Super Memorial

Carlo (Lies of P): Moeruumi

Pinocchio (Lies of P): Kuchisake Onna

N (Pokémon Black): Starry Night

I started rambling about the materials used below. vvv

I decided to try using watercolors for this picture! This being the first time I've used watercolors, I decided to keep it simple and only do base colors. The shading was done with colored pencils. I think I found a good shading style to use for quick drawings that doesn't take too long and doesn't look unfinished.

The watercolors I used were from one of those cheap, gimmicky box sets with a million colors you see all over Instagram. Even with me being a novice, I can tell these aren't very high-quality paints. Surprisingly, they mixed together pretty well. They get a bit streaky, especially when I tried to layer them, though. In some places, they also dried to a plasticky texture that I had trouble coloring over with pencil. Some of this can maybe be blamed on the paper. I did this in a mixed media sketchbook with smooth, not very absorbent paper. I tested these watercolors on some watercolor paper I have, and they performed better there.

Assigning the modern Assassins pokemon for fun.

Desmond has a Rufflet from growing up as an Assassin. It becomes a Braviary much much later. He also has a Pidove from New York. Or the equivalent. Depending on how one handles physical locations. It evolves into a Tranquill to find him when he gets kidnapped, and an Unfezant sometime later.

Lucy has a Golurk, whose line is... not common, but sought after by both Assassins and Templars. Pokemon created in ancient times with technology that people don't understand and energy that seems impossible. They are Isu things. She also has a Gardevoir (or earlier evo) from being at Abstergo. She used to have a Rufflet, but Bill took it from her when they cut her off from the Assassins for undercover work.

Speaking of the Rufflet. Clay had a Rufflet given to him by Bill, who evolved into Braviary during the ceremonial leap of faith. That Rufflet used to be Lucy's. It didn't go with Clay to Abstergo, and seeing Lucy (who it perceives as abandoning it) coming back without him, it blames her. Also, Shaun wonders if it has any relation to the old Hisui Braviary, because it seems to have an attachment to Desmond based on his... mental interactions with Clay? Its unclear.

As for Rebecca and Shaun, besides probably Bravuary and Rotom, I'm not sure yet.

POKEMON MYSTERY DUNGEON EXPLORERS OF MIND

aka ha ha get isekai'd idiots

i've been amusing myself greatly by imagining desmond and (ecp) rainbow ending up in a PMD setting (and with it having a bit of a 'wizard of oz' flair in that a lot of the pokemon they meet seem weirdly familiar...)

desmond is a sylveon partially because of that whole "sylveon's ribbons can soothe others" thing, but mostly just because i thought it was funny :B

rainbow meanwhile is an umbreon... but like he normally is, is completely lacking hair and is also full of holes. picked umbreon to match with desmond being an eeveelution, and because umbreon was originally going to be poison type (which umbreon!rainbow is, because of course).

This idea came because @thewolfprince left this in the Ditto Desmond idea:

I’ll be totally honest my brain saw “Desmond” and “Pokemon” and went “RATONHNHAKÉ:TON GETS DESMOND POKEMON COMPANION TOO???”

Here’s @thewolfprince’s Desmond as Altaïr’s Eevie/Sylvion fic based on this and this is the Desmond as Ezio’s Zoruark fic based on this.

I thought Ditto!Desmond would be better off as a Ditto masquerading as a trainer so here’s Ratonhnhaké:ton getting Desmond as a different Pokemon instead.

He had heard of the Disaster Pokemon.

Everyone had.

Many were afraid of it.

Many say that it brings catastrophe wherever it goes.

To see it would mean it was there to bring pain and suffering.

But Ratonhnhaké:ton’s village did not believe that.

Absol wasn’t the bringer of disasters.

He was the herald.

He was the crier.

He was there to warn those who would be affected.

He was there trying to save them.

“Ratonhnhaké:ton, what’s wrong?” One of his playmates asked when he didn’t move.

He should be closing his eyes so his friends could hide.

“We need to go.” Ratonhnhaké:ton said as he continued to stare at those clear blue eyes.

Eyes begging him to understand.

One of his friends turned to where he was staring at and gasped, “It’s a shiny Absol!”

All of the children ran towards them to look at the Pokemon standing a few meters away from them, his white fur and red skin contrasting the trees between them.

“We need to go!” Ratonhnhaké:ton shouted at his friends.

The Absol nodded slightly and Ratonhnhaké:ton could feel something inside him tell him.

Go home.

Tell mother.

Save the village.

“The village is in trouble!” Ratonhnhaké:ton shouted and began to ran. The other children ran as well, following Ratonhnhaké:ton.

They all remember their parents’ words…

“If you see an Absol, return to the village and tell everyone to ‘run’.”

I was debating if he should have a Braviary!Desmond but an eagle motif Pokemon feels like it should be all of his ancestors’ Pokemon or, being my bias, Altaïr’s Pokemon.

Then I thought of making Desmond one of my favorite Pokemon, Froslass, and idea was Ratonhnhaké:ton would try to cross a mountain during a severe snowstorm and loses his consciousness on the way, the last thing he sees being a Froslass who brings him to an abandoned cabin deep into the forest but then I remember @saberamane suggesting Absol to be part of Desmond’s Pokemon team and I couldn’t resist XD

There's something both fun and painful about replaying PLA and deciding to play through as Desmond and your brain going "you literally cannot progress to the next part of the story until you get a shiny alpha luxray and name it Ezio"

So I am forced to rawdog this fucking shiny hunt with only a perfect dex entry because my brain is stupid. I have been in the fieldlands for 3 days now.

So, I got a little curious over how tall true Rosemary would be in comparison to this chart, considering that false Rose is already apart of the charts and uh..

♀️ Is literally the biggest glitch pokemon in the game so I don't know what I was expecting, ha. This gives me a good reference for when it's time for the poisoning.
