Oh my, while not "too personal", it is quite the long story~

Believe it or not, I was not initially interested in any sort of position within the Pokémon league. You see, I was quite the rebel of sorts as a child and didn't see myself fit for such a thing. Ah, but dear Marshal was extremely insistent about wanting to at least attempt to join... And, of course, I couldn't let Marshal join without me there to be better than him~

To our convenience, the League was searching for new trainers, as several spots had recently opened up. Marshal and I, along with Shauntal and Caitlin, decided to apply all together.

Now for those unaware, the Unovan League chooses it's newest Gym Leaders and Elite Four members with a bracket of sorts. Once you've been approved for said bracket, you have the opportunity to battle against a variety of other trainers in an attempt to stand out. Your skills as a trainer and type specialist are judged by the current Champion, Gym Leaders, and other Pokemon League employees... In our case, our battles were also televised~

Ah, long story short, the others and I were chosen to become the newest Elite Four members after gathering quite a lot of attention from both the public as well as the League~

Alice was considered an adult Ninetales at around 20 btw. ( She's currently in her 40s. ) Like yes they can live for thousands of year but that's mostly folklore. The average wild Ninetales doesn't even make it past a century and the odds of one hitting 1,000 are about the same as a human making it past 100.

Sure it can happen—Jeanne Calment even made it to 122! But keep in mind that she was also born into wealth and never had to worked a day in her life. Human centenarians are rare asf so it's perfectly reasonable to assume that nobody you know will ever reach that age.

It takes a very powerful, clever or lucky Ninetales to survive an entire millennia and the ones who do tend to be all three. They also tend to have been partnered with humans for generations because the existence of a wild Pokemon is a harsh one. There's a reason the oldest ones have spawned their own legends as fabled guardians of a particular town / family.

YEAH but when you look at what the Academy Special consists of, there's like ramen and french fries and jellybeans to name a few. Also I just love the idea of the E4 looking out for one another. Like that guy's a slacker but he's their slacker y'know? I know in my heart that if anyone tried to mess with any of the other E4, suddenly there's an arm slung over their shoulder, a deceptively laidback voice suggesting they 'knock it off if you know what's good for you'

Genuinely nothing's scarier than seeing Drayton angry about something cause with how much he let slide off his back and be chill about it, you know you messed up big time if you manage to be the target of his anger

Like yeah, he's pretty lazy, he's laid back, his friends always call him a slacker but you're right, he's their slacker, they started calling him the local slakoth lmfao, but still y'know, I imagine when he's pissed off he doesn't even look pissed. More like, he still has that lazy smile on his face, but there's this aura surrounding him y'know, the atmosphere is tense, and they can just tell that no, he's not playing around anymore, he legit won't hesitate to call out Archaludon if they press on while Drayton is pissed

Y'know despite his dynamic w Kieran now, I always picture him kinda going on to the kids who are scared of Kieran or like make fun of him now to knock it off. If I remember right, Carmine asked one of the BB E4 how Kieran was doing, I think it was Crispin, and he said that Kieran was doing well y'know, some kids are just scared of him. I wanna say that despite Drayton also kinda pissing off Kieran w the whole ex champion and payback thing, he still sees him as a friend, and doesn't want people to mess w him. After all, why would they even go against Drayton? He's the second strongest in their school, once the Champion of their league, and was trained by a Champion, if they go against him they know they'd instantly lose

I of course, imagine her having a rattata, and I also like to imagine she'd have a ditto as well. There's a lot of normal types I could see her having honestly, she just gives normal type trainer vibes. I honestly feel like she wouldn't actually personally keep any pokemon outside of work, but If I had to pick out a full team it'd probably be smth like rattata, ditto, porygon, eevee, kabuto, and furret!

Are there any pokemon that are more commonly found under the ownership of trainers than they are in the wild (other than manmade pokemon or endangered species ofc)? And if so, could this have any negative ecological consequences? I've noticed that there are a few fully evolved pokemon I've only ever seen in professional battling teams despite their pre-evolutions being relatively common in the wild.

evolved pokemon in general are far more common in captivity than they are in the wild. in many instances, there just aren't enough resources in an ecosystem to support a large population of evolved pokemon! so only particularly aggressive pokemon or pokemon living in very resource-rich areas are going to evolve. there's obviously pokemon where that isn't the case- for example, certain bug types that need to evolve as part of their life cycle- and pokemon that don't get much of a size increase (e.g. you'll see flabébé and floette in relatively similar numbers, but few florges). pokemon that evolve more than once are especially far more likely to reach their final stage in captivity.

there are some pokemon that are also just really rare in the wild in general! a lot of dragon types are like this. they have small wild populations, but because of the prestige associated with them and their role in certain families, they've been bred extensively in captivity. certain domesticated pokemon like tauros are also far more common in human ownership, just because we've bred them specifically to live with us.

this is generally not something that causes environmental issues so long as trainers are responsible in where they allow their pokemon to be. still, there is some indication that trainers who go outside of designated paths and allow their pokemon to free-roam during journeys cause mild to moderate disruption of the local environment. any time you're out traveling, especially with pokemon, please be mindful of the impact your actions have on the environment! stay on premade paths and keep your pokemon in their balls or on the path unless you need them to protect you or to help you get around an obstacle.

I can't shake how the first time the player character meets N in Accumula town is such a y/n moment. He takes notice of you immediately and thinks you're uniquely special—meanwhile you're kinda just standing there like 🧍 Your starter, which you acquired not even 20 mins before that, takes a liking to you, and that's enough to leave him completely floored.

Ofc, growing up locked away in a tower only ever being exposed to pokemon who'd been abused means his perception of trainers is skewed, but still. Other characters instantly fawning over the MC is such a wish-fulfillment trope. N recalling the first time you two met at the end of the game just adds to the effect. That moment lives in his head rent-free!

After your meet-cute, he becomes so mystified by the player that he seeks out your opinion and wants to pick your brain at several points. N often mentions "envisioning the future," and his visions start to involve you! He muses about how you might be "an ideal trainer" to a random grunt (see the memory link flashback in chargestone cave in bw2). He deviates from ghetsis's plans by encouraging you to find the corresponding light/dark stone just so you'll challenge him in a final showdown. He goes out on quite a limb by insisting upon this.

I think my favorite moment of N being completely obsessed with the player is when he waits for you outside of the Mistralton gym for no other purpose than striking up a conversation and trying to understand you better. He doesn't battle you there, he's not accompanied by any plasma goons, and this encounter does very little to further the plot (the only plot-relevant info revealed is that there are two stones). My guy is a certified yapper, but he stops to take this moment to listen and learn about you from your pokemon.

This is also the first time when he drops his confident front, expresses uncertainty about his course of action, and sympathizes with your point of view. In a strange way, you're probably the only person he feels he can admit his self-doubts to—to everyone else in his life, he's supposed to Plasma's unwaveringly resolute King.

It's only when taking the player into consideration that N's conviction falters and his "heart wavers." Standing in front of you, the consequences of his plan suddenly become very real to him, and he's vulnerable enough to reveal his qualms about separating all Pokemon from their trainers. He even says it would break his heart to see that happen to you.

When you really examine his interactions with the player, it's clear that N's kind of besotted with the MC regardless of the gender you select. I don't even think it's a case of shipper's goggles or reading too much into things. This is just a basic reading of the text, without even even getting into the romantic subtext splattered everywhere (I could legitimately write an essay about that! Gamefreak absolutely made some choices, and it extends far beyond that moment in the ferris wheel!)

General

Legend claims that Evolotto was Arceus' first attempt at creating a Pokemon; it was only intended to be a "template" for what the god wanted to bring into the world. But it was kept hidden away until it found its way to Earth all on its own.

Many have theorized that its power is the source of the Evolution phenomenon.

Stories claim that a single touch from this creature can evolve a Pokémon instantly regardless of stats, circumstances, or items. But this has yet to be proven.

Scientists keep trying to catch/observe its traits in the wild, hoping to understand its powers--without any success.

The only thing that has been documented thus far are its attempts to evolve, in which it takes forms resembling the various Pokemon body shapes, although it uses them more for self-defense than battling.

Despite this and its connections to Arceus, it's unclear if it can learn Transform, Judgement, or use any of the plates.

Has a texture akin to soft dough or clay.

Eviolites are said to be ordinary stones that were blessed by Evolotto from the moment it touched the earth.

Like Mew, Arceus Latias, Latios, and Mewtwo, it can understand human language and speak telepathically, but is rather shy about it, preferring to keep to itself.

The odds of you stumbling across Evolotto were one in a million...

And during your exploration of Paldea, you so-happened to be checking out some ruins when the creature lightly nudged against your leg.

While your pokedex provided very little information on it, you find it to be quite cute and so you decide to capture it.

Surprisingly, it rejects the pokeball, but doesn't break it.

You wonder how and why....but after Evolotto just stared at you with its beady red eyes, you stopped questioning it and decided to let it accompany you around Paldea.

It'll assume its more humanoid forms when it attends class with you, even sitting in a chair and listening to the professor like it was a student.

Eventually you tell your friends at the Academy about the new Pokémon you found, convincing it to demonstrate its abilities.

Nemona thinks it looks like some kid's art project in Hassel's class, only to be excited when it starts moving around and shows off some of its alternate forms.

She hoped to battle it, but after seeing it scurry behind you for protection, she feels bad and offers it candy as an apology.

Arven thought it was another food-themed Pokémon like Fidough, but not even you knew what it was supposed to be. No factual records at the academy's library existed on it that any of you could find.

It was all just speculation and theories, the most popular ones being "it was conceived by Arceus to make evolution possible" and "eviolites are ordinary stones blessed by it".

You decided to trust in these claims.

Even Penny was curious about it, although she thought it was...quite strange that nobody's been able to catch one. But it somehow warmed up to you.

Regardless, her Eevee team adored the fella, so it didn't really matter.

You brought Evolotto to Kitakami during your trip, simply because the little guy refused to leave your side.

And after getting to know the siblings better and wondering if they knew anything about it, you decided to show them....and both of them act like you just gave them a million dollars.

They've read about this Pokémon before! And it was in your hands!

It was real all along..

After calming down about it, Carmine lowkey gets annoyed that Evolotto doesn't wanna battle and just...sticks to you like glue, letting you carry it around like a puppy.

You keep telling her that it won't go into a pokeball (but she'll still tease you about trying to "show off" even when that's not your intention).

While Kieran finds it cute and defends it from his sister's rude remarks, he does get a bit jealous when you're also getting Ogerpon's attention.

But in the end, when she chose you over him, he vows to gain ownership over Evolotto as a "prize" for beating you in the championship battle when you arrive to BB Academy.

Of course...he doesn't win.

After you two reconcile, he asks if you've learned anything new about the Pokémon, but otherwise has regained enough respect from Evolotto to give it head pats occasionally.

Revealing Your Relationship to the Public- Leon x GN!Reader

"Can you hold my hand?"

"Hm?"

"Could you hold my hand?" Leon asked again. You were standing in one of the entrances to the Wyndon Stadium battlefield. You had requested the battle, as you wanted to test how strong your Pokémon had become after training with him. He had (somehow) convinced you to enter the arena with him, even though you were supposed to enter on opposite sides. You were confused.

"Why?"

"Well, I just thought that maybe, y'know, we could go out and battle as a couple." He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. He never wanted to accidentally push things too far with your relationship.

"We battle all the time, love." You pointed out.

"I know, I know. But this time it's like…" He grabbed your hands. "It's official." You and Leon's relationship wasn’t out to the public yet, you were just known as friends. You were both seen in each other's (and Raihan's, to no one's surprise) social media posts. You were scared to let the public know. Being the partner of a celebrity couldn't be easy. Not to mention the lack of privacy that you would no doubt be forced to live with. On the other hand, it sucked only being able to show your love for each other in private. Even if it only meant some simple PDA in public (Leon doesn’t want to hurt his PG public image). Leon kissed the back of your hand, bringing you back to reality. "I don't want to pressure you at all." You felt blush creep up your cheeks at his statement.

"Do you really want to do this?" You asked him. He nodded.

"More than anything." You interlaced your fingers with his.

"Then let's do this." His face lit up at your response, causing you to smile. He leaned down and kissed you. He pulled away and gave your hand a squeeze. You started walking toward the battlefield together, the blinding lights of the stadium getting brighter.

"AND HERE COMES LEON!" The announcer yelled over the loudspeaker. "BUT IT LOOKS LIKE HE HAS HIS OPPONENT WITH HIM- AND THEY'RE HOLDING HANDS?!" Leon chuckled. He stopped in the middle of the arena and motioned for the crowd to quiet down. They did immediately.

"Everyone, I would like to introduce to you not only my opponent for this match, but my partner, Y/n!" The crowed erupted in screams of shock and adoration and also jealousy. He turned towards you.

"Sorry, I couldn’t help myself." You chuckled at your boyfriend's eagerness. You let go of his hand and grabbed his face, bringing him into a kiss. He happily kissed you back, moving his hands to grab your waist.

Sure, it might be scary revealing your relationship to the public, but with your lovable yamper of a boyfriend, you were sure that it wouldn’t be too bad.

in regards to gloria eternatus headcanon like. how does that go down in the endgame. does rose never figure out how to summon it. or does eternatus emerge like an angry spirit out of her body during the battle with leon. if so does it do this Every time it loses.

do eternatus' pokemon Know. what team does it rock. id imagine as a poison/dragon type itd have a huge aversion to anything steel type, but would have an affinity for pokemon that have gigantamax forms. sorta like ghetsis countering Ns team but also because MAYBE. MAYBE it likes its funny fellas who it gave new forms to. flapple or appletun perchance.

also The most crucial question. does mustard know. i feel like mustard could beat eternamax eternatus based off of pure aura alone. does eternatus even go to the isle of armour in that case

HI THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THE EXCUSE TO RAMBLE ABOUT THIS.

Okay, so, Rose actually releases Eternatus right at the beginning of the story! It doesn't go exactly as planned, though. A huge earthquake rocks the entire Galar region and a greatly weakened Eternatus flees to the Slumbering Weald, the legendary dogs already on its heels. The earthquake caused a fence in Postwick to collapse, Hop's terrified wooloo rolling right past it and into the woods. Hop and Gloria run to find it, but the two get seperated in the fog. Gloria is attacked by a wild trevenant and is mortally wounded, but right before she dies, Eternatus finds her.

Needing a place to hide from the legendary dogs, after Gloria takes her last breath, Eternatus borrows her body. Part of the reason it undertakes the gym challenge is to stay on the run from the legendary dogs. What Gloria doesn't realize is that Rose is also on the hunt for it.

Gloria's pokemon don't know it's Eternatus, per se, but any pokemon Gloria encounters can sense there is something deeply wrong with it. Wild pokemon tend to avoid it. Gloria's sobble, who knew the original Gloria, is especially terrified. The only three pokemon I know for sure are on Gloria's team are inteleon, urshifu, and trevanant (Gloria eventually goes back for that one in the Slumbering Weald to make sure it doesn't hurt anybody else), but I am totally stealing the idea of Gloria using gigantamax pokemon. Strange things happen when Gloria is around, electronics short out, people become sick, pokemon gain sudden bursts of strength, even dynamaxing, but are especially weak afterwards, and pokemon who couldn't gigantamax before are suddenly able to without the help of delicous mushroom stew- including pokemon that shouldn't even have gigantamax forms. This goes for Gloria's team as well, but eventually Gloria learns to start reigning it in to keep from hurting them.

By the time Gloria's sobble is an inteleon the two have made their peace, even becoming friends. All of Gloria's pokemon love it despite any initial inhibitions. Due to having a human body, Gloria is experiencing human emotions for the first time, and it loves them in turn. The other reason Gloria undertakes the gym challenge is because it begins to feel guilty for hijacking the original Gloria's life and wants to accomplish her dream of becoming the champion as a sort of recompense.

Despite slowly getting used to being a human, Eternatus is still a pokemon. Yeah, it's absolutely not a fan of strong steel types, especially the legendary dogs. Any canine pokemon freak Gloria out, actually. Gloria has no idea what will happen if somebody hits it with a pokeball while it's snug inside a human body. It isn't particularly fond of the idea of finding out.

Hop takes over the role of the protagonist here. He suspects something is wrong, digging into the cause of the earthquake and even investigating Chairman Rose, but doesn't confront Gloria about what he's slowly beginning to realize until Rose overloads Gloria with energy to return it to its full power. Hop is devastated once he learns what happened to the original Gloria wasn't simply a case of possession and that he's never going to get his best friend back. Victor and Marnie, who never knew the original Gloria, can find it in themselves to forgive Gloria, but Hop can't. At least, not for a while. Bede was always terrified of Gloria and that isn't changing anytime soon either.

As for Mustard, Victor is the protagonist of the Crown Tundra DLC storyline, which happens mid-game here, and Gloria is the protagonist of the of the Isle of Armour DLC, which acts as a bit of an epilouge to the whole story. Mustard knows Gloria is Eternatus and willingly enlists it in his dojo. Gloria is lost after deciding to keep living as a human, but is unable to return to the original Gloria's old life. Mustard helps it figure stuff out. Eventually, Gloria heads to Narajna/Uva Academy to help it explore some options.
