I've played Gen 1 'til Gen 7 and stopped after that. So yeee, despite my disappointment in the recent titles, I still have fond memories of the series as a whole.

In terms of usefulness, I like Ground and Psychic types the best. In terms of designs, it's probably Dark types. I am an edgy bitch like that.

I can see Kris liking Grass and Bug types. Chara also strikes me as someone who likes Grass types (I COULD say Poison and Ghost types, but that'd be more of a theme for a team they'd have). And Frisk, I see as someone who likes Normal types, but really, they would love all kind of Pokemon.

Soaring high, Akane got some well-developed legs after jumping around so much. She also garners unwanted attention. Nothing a swift kick to the face can’t help. Don’t stop kicking until those unwanted stares turn into lifeless ones.

The influence Ranma 1/2 in Serena written

Presenting the differences between their arcs, while Akane was seeking acceptance in the femininity she wanted to convey, Serena's hair is also about her development, we are introduced to a character without a clear objective, you are being pressured into something you don't want to do. But when she is put to use putting her knowledge into practice for someone else, her childhood crush shows herself that what she neglects can be fun and enjoyable.

Each strand that falls is a memory that goes, it is her previous journey left behind as well as her indecisions, each new change shows its development little by little

Now that she has gone through the problem and faced her fears, now that she has gone through the process of understanding what she wants, her crying is no longer about the sadness of loss but about the realization of a new and better future.

"Nothing like a good crying"

Crying is part of releasing old or new frustrations, freeing your emotions from what bothers you and is relieving and brings dopamine, the habit of not crying leads to health problems.

I like the similarities in these scenes, how the audience is disappointed with the change but the show reinforces that this is Serena's best decision for herself and Ash himself or Ranma are the only ones who are aware that "it's okay" to have the version that pleases you more than the version that you think pleases others

Her new appearance reflects her experience, the complete wish is on its way but now with a much better appearance and a "better version of herself" as she herself said to Ash at the end of XYZ

She is no longer doing things for her mother or external expectations but is walking the path she chose and doing what she always dreamed of.

Just like all the themes of the genre that Akane Tendo helped create I like how Akemi Omode uses the elements of Ramma here and whoever wrote episode 105, who is unknown to me, also did a spectacular job overall in bringing the main aspect of her character out 🩵

This is not about the blue ribbon I will not mention it here it is a symbology for another post

Ranma and Akane's pokemon team (From someone who doesn't play too much Pokemon and loves Ranma)

Here's my explanations for them:

Ranma:

Fire types: I think Ranma can be represented with the fire element because of his passion for Martial Arts.

Water Type: This is mostly because of his curse, I thought it would've been kind of interesting to implement it somewhat.

Flight: In one instance Ranma mentions that the speciality of the Anything Goes school of martial arts is Air combat. Thought it would make sense to give him some flight Pokemons then.

Dragon: I think many people know that one of Ranma's lemotifs (would that be the right word???) are dragons.

Normal: Tbh this is the only one I thought only using vibes. He's not very normal himself but I feel he would use at least one normal Pokemon.

Akane:

Firstly, I thought she had really cute Pokemons and stylish ones too.

Fighting: Because I think it's obvious, but even then I wasn't able to find too many Fighting Pokemon types that would've fit her, maybe I should've gave her a normal type and give her a lolpunny? Tell me what you think!

Water: For some reason I associate her with the water element, so this is mostly my opinion, I could've gave her a fire type and I think it would've work well enough.

Fairy: Akane's very stylish and despite getting called a tomboy because of her like for martial arts, she's very girly. I thought it would fit her a lot.

Rock: This may be the funniest one. Akane's strong, very strong to the point she can break stone with her bare hands. I thought it would fit someone like her to have the stone type. I thought about steel but I think it doesn't fit her as much.

4Kids' trend of changing characters who had English names originally to other English names (even when it's a perfectly ordinary name) in the dub is so amusing.

So, this cowboy named Howard in the original Japanese anime, who wears a cowboy hat and all, gets changed to Milton in the English dub...

Oh, cute detail, his niece Akane (Whitney in the dub) is one of the few characters not to speak Tokyo standard Japanese, she speaks Kansai-ben, specifically Osaka-ben. It's so cute, fast, and adds to the uniqueness of her character! ^^ Nanako/Casey also speaks Osaka-ben, she's also a huuuge fan of the Electabuzz baseball team referencing how loyal Osakan fans of the Hanshin Tigers are, despite long, long losing streaks...

Mache (Valerie) speaks Kyoto-ben, her speech is slower, more flowy! It's a bit of a shame we don't get to hear as much accents even in the regions they're based on, but it's really nice when we do hear bits of it or even just words (we hear some background character kids speak in dialect in the beginning of The Legend of Thunder! There's also those two nameless salon characters in Goldenrod too...)

Anyway, this started off as me (fondly) poking fun at the old dub, but now, it's just "I wonder if Akane's family is mixed!" and "It's rare, but nice, hearing other dialects in the Pokemon anime!"

Do you play Pokémon and/or also like Pokémon, and if so, which game is your favourite?

(Also which Pokémon do you think fit best as partners for the different characters? Firstly Kris and Frisk.)

I used to play Pokemon starting with Red and Blue. But then (Ultra) Sun and (Ultra) Moon happened and I just lost interest all together. My favorite in the series are Heart Gold/Soul Silver, but Black(2)/White(2) are just as good, if not even better. I can see Kris having a Zorua and Frisk an Eevee
