So you all know how everyone is like “oh it’s been 10 years since Pokémon Gen whatever came out, where’s? The remake?!?!” But here’s the thing guys, there’s a pattern you are all missing and it’s not based on the year the game came out, it’s based on the generation. (There’s only one remake that breaks this rule) Let me explain. In a timeline without years:
Gen 1 comes out
Gen 2 comes out
Gen 3 comes out
Gen 1 remakes come out
Gen 4 comes out
Gen 2 remakes come out
Gen 5 comes out
Gen 6 comes out
Gen 3 remakes come out
Gen 7 comes out
Gen 8 comes out
Gen 4 remakes come out
Gen 9 come out
Present day
Do you see the pattern? Let me explain if you didn’t. The remakes all except the Gen 1 remakes come out after it’s doubled. Gen 4 remakes came out after Gen 8, 4 x 2 = 8, Gen 3 remakes after Gen 6, 3 x 2 =6, etc etc. only the first Gen breaks this rule which makes sense cause that would be super fast for a remake. So when will Gen 5 remakes come out? After Gen 10 comes out. Gen 6 remakes? After Gen 12. And so on and so forth until they stop making new generations then a new pattern with form. Anyway if I’m wrong with this for Gen 5 then I’m wrong but if I’m right the pattern holds strong and imma trust the pattern tbh.

general thoughts re : switch 2, pokémon 5g remakes, pokémon legends 2 (under read more)
okay so we all know switch 2 will probably come out or at least be announced this year (2024) since it's been seven years since the switch came out (april 2017)
so here are my thoughts / hopes / predictions about this especially as a pokémon fan
1) if there is an announcement, i think it will be in june for a november release. yanno for the holidays
2) in order to sell the console, and avoid the slow start the switch had, nintendo will (or at least should) announce some big aaa game releases like animal crossing, zelda, mario bros, and... pokémon (most of these will be in 2025 though and spread all over the year, but at least it will garner some hype)
3) black and white are nearing their 15th anniversary. the cycle of remakes (every five years) is completing. it's time... for the year of unova (2025).
i honestly think, despite the backlash from some people, that the dichotomy legends / more "mature" games marketed towards adults and remakes that have more "child-like" graphics and mechanics and a more streamlined storyline is a good decision from game freak, allowing us both new ways to play and nostalgia from remakes of games from our childhood.
furthermore, i really believe that with unova's history and architecture, that it really deserves a legends game that explores the history of the region and the mythicals (the tao trio).
here is the post i had written in here but essentially, we don't need time travel for this one, a game where you move from let's say galar (bc uk-like) to unova (because us-like) in a "19th century"-style unova and exploring it like hisui in legends arceus.
we could have that, and also since we had dlcs for sword/shield and scarlet/violet, why not do the same for the 5g remakes ? in order to have black and white but also as much black 2 and white 2 as possible, we could have :
- the main remakes being black and white remakes ;
- the dlcs being the black 2 and white 2 exclusive content : instead of playing a new adventure with new characters, let's say that after you save unova and beat the elite 4/league, you move from nuvema town to the newly minted aspartia city, 2 years pass, you think everything is fine and dandy, but...
the events of black 2 and white 2 start and you fight against new team plasma, the map is now black 2 and white 2 instead of black and white (at least they add the new towns and the new gyms, in aspartia city, virbank city and humilau city). of course it will be much shorter than the actual black 2 and white 2 games, but at least we will get something from those games because they're so good !!!!!
voilà here are my thoughts bye lol

For those who might be disappointed that we didn’t get BW remakes, it should be noted that the usual remakes (Lets Go is sort of a spinoff remake) usually come in even-number generations (with the exception of the first remakes FRLG):
HGSS came out during Gen 4 (DPP)
ORAS came out during Gen 6 (XY)
BDSP came out during Gen 8 (SwSh)
So it stands to reason that BW remakes will be in Gen 10, after whatever game kickstarts it.
That’s why I never thought we’d get them after SV, but they’ll definitely come eventually. We just gotta be patient ☺️

My Predictions for the Pokemon Day Direct:
1. Gen 5 remakes
2. Some sort of “gimmick” game. Ex. Legends Arceus or Let’s Go
3. New content for the mobile apps. Possibly a new mobile app announced.
4. New Pokemon cards and TCG updates
What I hope to see in the Pokemon Day Direct:
1. A Legends Unova game that takes place in the 1920s or a Legacy Unova game that takes place in the future
2. Ports of older games to the switch
3. Gen 5 remakes that fix issues and isn’t 100% the same
4. New games for the spin-off series. Like Mystery Dungeon or Ranger.
(When I say “gimmick game”, I mean a game that really shakes up the formula and tries something new, but is still a traditional Pokémon game at its core.)
Being 100% honest, I’d prefer if they’d either announce a remake or a new Legends, Let’s Go, etc. game now and the other at a later date. Kinda stretch out the hype and release of content. Plus, I’m sure that they could use the extra time to polish the game lol.
However, it’s Gamefreak and I know that they’re not gonna do that. They’re likely gonna announce both on Pokémon day and have their releases be close to each other.
It’d be super fun to see a 1920s Unova with gangsters and lots of jazz. Though a future game would be badass as well. Also, Nintendo please release the older games on the switch and give the spin-off games some love, I’ll give you my money!

sorry for pokémon black and white posting again but i just did some math to find out when bw remakes will most likely come out. under the cut, in case you're not interested
to figure this out, we need to take into consideration:
how often new remakes are released
how often new generations are released
how long it takes after a new, applicable generation to have a remake release
first let's start with the new remakes.
there are 4 remakes of older pokémon games up to diamond and pearl. here's a table on the generations they were released in:
Tumblr media
there's a 2 generation gap between all of them except for frlg and hgss. although, this is understandable as generation 2 would be a bit too early for remakes of the generation 1 games! with this, we can conclude that the bw remakes will be generation 10 games.
~
now to figure out how often new generations are released.
yet another table, this time of the release of every new game pair that started a new generation in japan (because until the games started being released at the same time in all regions starting with xy, japan got the games first)
Tumblr media
as you can see, with the exception of a (rounded up) 4 year gap with rs-dp and dp-bw, there is a (rounded up) 3 year gap between each new generation. since generation 9 began in 2022, we can expect generation 10 in 2025.
yeah. 2 years.
~
it gets worse from here when we look at how long it takes for the remakes to get released after the main games that start the generation come out...
Tumblr media
oh god
this is hard to figure out because the dates vary so wildly, but... it's likely to come out 2027...

Xy are both games that would have thrived off expansions. They’re just so bareboned on their own I wish they could have been expanded more. I love them very dearly still but I wish they had time to fully flourish

I had some thoughts on Gen IX parallel Gen V remakes.
They could absolutely retcon Genesect to be a future paradox and introduce its proper revived form. They could then add its ancient form as a Past Paradox. Unova is divided, as it showcased past and futuristic themes as version counterparts. Both the past/future groups oppose eachother in the new games, to the point of aggression with two evil teams. Team Past team seeks the resurrection of the original dragon in its true form to stop the war. Team Future seeks to recreate the original dragon with Technology. Of course they'd be called Black 3 and White 3: a continuation of the story as per gen V thematics.
Unlike the uninspired Gen IV remakes, that lacked their counterpart's gimmick, they'd embrace Terastalization (also, it seems more portable than gigantimax). This also works with Gen V, as it introduced Gems for types. Perhaps a researcher from Paldea found a way to harness the gem's power for Terra Orbs. Since Pokémon company seems to want to ditch the gems except normal though, we can say they were "Mined dry, with barely any remaining." Special Terra Orbs (inspired by the Black and White orbs) add the power of the original Dragon to Zekrom or Reshiram, imperfectly. This replaces DNA splicers.
In the end, we meet the past and future Kyurem respectively: like "Roaring King" and "Iron Salvation" or something.

Gen 5 Pokémon rant because I think it is vastly underestimated :
Okay so it's Pokémon infodump time because I just want to talk about all the things Game Freak could do with Unova and yet won't be doing because they're cowards :
1) Legends Kuyrem game
I know that the most popular opinion atm regarding a potential new game in the Legends Arceus style is Legends Celebi because time-travelling Pokémon + Game Freak reusing their tropes instead of doing something totally different
*and* I totally agree that a game where we could be a modern-day Trainer transported to the past by Celebi in order to convince Ho-Oh to save the Legendary Dogs (Entei, Raikou and Suicune) after the Bell Towers' burning by the bad guys to save Johto somehow is very cool
but !!!!! Legends Kyurem would also be a very cool idea and with the number of historical buildings we see in Unova like Lacunosa Town, Village Bridge, Opelucid City, but also the Buried Castle and Celestial Tower !!!!! There is so much history in Unova and it's so underused it's basically criminal XD
Essentially since Unova is based on New York and the United Stated in general there would be no need for time-travel, the plot could be a family of 19th century immigrants from another region going to Unova because Trainer's parents need a job and there are opportunities in Unova where people are coming from other regions (it's even mentioned in the games on the Village Bridge and they didn't talk about it since and it frustrates me !!!!! so much !!!!!),
And they move to the currently in-construction Castelia City because they came by boat (like the 19th century immigrants arriving in New York) and they get a house/flat and then the plot can be like Legends Arceus where Trainer joins the equivalent of the Survey Corps (the equivalents of the other Corps like Security, Medical, Supply, Agriculture, and Construction could also exist),
And since it would take place chronologically after Hisui all of it could have been founded by a descendant of a Galaxy Team that moved to Unova to transform it just like their ancestor transformed Hisui in Legends Arceus and be based on the same motives of filling in the Pokédex just like the Hisuian one,
And as we fill the Pokédex we meet descendents of the twin brothers (the heroes of Truth and Ideals) who could be leading their own clans like clan White and clan Black just like the Diamond and Pearl Clans in Legends Arceus, who are constantly arguing and they end up battling at the Relic Castle (which is the castle the twins built, it's canon), and in order to save the region and reconcile the brothers, we have to capture the now escaped Reshiram, Zekrom and Kyurem (whose existence we only learn after catching the first two) and put them back together at the Relic Castle !!!!!
The Black and White Clans would also make constant references to the Kingdom of the Vale and think their Prince/twin is right and we would use Victini (the Pokémon enclosed by their father the King) in order to save the region !!!!!
Essentially I am making my own propaganda for Legends Kyurem I hope y'all agree lolol
2) Black and White remakes
I know that will probably happen in the next generation of game consoles because there is only one generation of remakes by game console (1st gen remakes / leafgreen and firered on game boy advance, 2nd gen remakes / heartgold and soulsilver on ds, 3rd gen remakes / omega ruby and alpha sapphire on 3ds, 4th gen remakes / brilliant diamond and shining pearl on the switch), but I am a bit weary about gen 5 remakes because it's the first gen with sequels ?
Like there are so many things that have been added in Black 2 and White 2 that only doing a Black and White remake would be so sad... but knowing that it is very unlikely that they make remakes for both Black/White and Black 2/White 2 is already making me sad before said remakes are even announced XD
Anyways do you know how in Black 2 Opelucid City is futuristic and in White 2 it is more traditional ? And its slogan being "Time's Dividing Line : the City where Past and Future Entertwine" ? And how in Black/Black 2 there is the Black City which is futuristic and in White/White 2 there is the White Forest which is more traditional ?
How about they use that fact to introduce the future Violet Pokémon in the Black remake and the past Scarlet Pokémon in the White remake ? Maybe through the gym leaders (Drayden in Black and Iris in White) ?
Ideally they could do a Delta Episode-esque mission post-League where we go to the Mistralton Cave in the Black remake/the Buried Castle in the White remake and then have this happen :
1) In the White remake, Trainer sees a UFO that had crashed in the Mistralton Cave, is attacked by a Beheeyem but saved by a Neitram, who shows Trainer its precognition abilities and they go to the future where the Violet future Pokémon can be caught and brought to the present ?
Essentially since Neitram/Beheeyem came from a UFO (it is said so in the Pokédex), they could be the perfect Unovian ambassador for the future Violet Pokémon and a great introduction to them ; the mines in the present are abandoned but in the future they could be reopened and futuristic ?????
The Pokédex also says Beheeyem can modify memories so maybe it got scared when found out and tried to erase Trainer's memories of their encounter but then Neitram saves them because it is curious and then shows Trainer the future as gratitude ?????
2) In the White remake, Trainer meets an angry Cofagrigus who wants to attack them but they are saved by a Yamask who befriends them and shows them their memories of when the Relic Castle was first built (2,500 years ago) and they meet the past Scarlet Pokémon there and bringing them also to the present ?
Essentially since Yamask and Cofagrigus are Pokémon that have always lived in the Relic Castle and represent Ancient Egypt essentially, they could be the perfect Unovian ambassador for the past Scarlet Pokémon ; in the present, the castle is in ruins and abandoned but in the past it could have been luxurious and freshly made ?????
It is also said in the Pokédex that Cofagrigus chases treasure hunters and could have hunted Trainer because it thought they were a thief as well and then Yamask saves them and shows their memories of when it was human in the past ?????
Anyways there are so many mentions of the past and future in the gen 5 games it would be such a waste if they don't introduce the future Violet and past Scarlet Pokémon in the remakes to be honest !!!!!
Voilà essentially these are my ideas thank you for reading lolol hope I didn't get anything wrong !!!!! I did so much research hahaha I fucking love Pokémon so much T_T

There's rumours and leaks floating around that the next Pokémon game is going to be remakes of Black and White. As much as I'm looking forward to that possibility considering it was my first ever Pokémon game, I'm kinda dreading the blazing inferno rage storm that's inevitably going to happen if the Black and White remakes aren't exactly like the fandom wants it. Because the Pokémon Fandom is going to go absolutely nuclear if they think that Gamefreak ruined the (current) most treasured main series game.
Personally, I'm going in with a very open minded approach. I never really cared much about graphics, I guess so I don't really care about what the Black and White remakes would look like. I could go with anything tbh.
Remake with Scarlet and Violet style graphics? That would be cool. BDSP style graphics? I'd be fine with that too. Let's Go game somehow? Well, I liked the first Let's Go game, I wouldn't mind a Let's Go Black and White game.
Honestly, just the novelty of playing a remake of my first ever Pokémon game a decade later but with 3D graphics and remixed soundtrack is good enough for me.

Tumblr media
I think Pokémon Black and White should get the ORAS treatment (in terms of how much they keep faithful/what they change with the OG game) in terms of remakes.
They should not go down the path of BDSP, which was basically beat for beat Gen IV just in a chibi art style and no Platinum stuff.
I want to see gym leaders and elite four getting amazing new outfits and new mons. I want every single Gen 1-9 Pokemon in existence. I want to see Team Plasma getting redesigns. I want Ghetsis to wear his BW2 uniform and have his BW2 personality and still be a bad dad, despite BW2 Ghetsis not treating N as horribly as BW. I want the BW2 leaders to be there, and Roxie to have purple/orange combo.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Marlon, I want to see Marlon still be a nice, kind-hearted guy, but he'll also be a Pokémon-stealing Team Plasma member instead of the purely good Gym Leader he was in OG Unova (you can thank a fanfic for that).
The possibilities are endless!

once again eagerly reading and watching you liveblog your pokemon experiences hell yeah dude
i've been restraining myself from liveblogging pla for a third time bc i super super enjoy running my mouth and love paying attention to things that everyone else would find boring and irrelevant. but this time i was like ok it would simply look embarrassing for me to talk in detail about the entirety of the exact same game three times in a row. but then again each new time i've played i've had a different level of context. first i had absolutely no knowledge (save from a major spoiler, yet still one removed from context), then i had the knowledge from this game itself, and now i have the knowledge of both this game and its predecessor. there have been some new things i've noticed and some new thoughts and feelings i've had for the first time. i wish i'd written them all down to like document them now
and yeah baby i am so so so happy i've gotten the chance to play gen 4 now. both of these games make each other so much more special in my eyes in a sort of indescribable way. my relationship with platinum is bizarre bc yeah i only just played it for the first time this year but also having played pla means i can recognize all these callbacks and know where things are going. and even stronger than that- as a certified younger sibling i can verify having had the true younger sibling experience of watching one's older sibling play a video game and feeling like you're playing it yourself. granted i only remember bits and pieces of the games i watched them play (diamond from my brother and platinum from my sister). but like certain things are so vivid in my memories dude
the pokémon center theme and jingle (but granted those are so culturally significant anyone would know them). the pc box opening sound (dude that's such a small thing and yet it almost killed me hearing it again after so long). 'the water is a deep blue color...would you like to surf on it?' >yes< 'pippi used surf!' (empoleon cry and animation). the surf music. the sinnoh wild battle music (hearing that in pla was like hey i think i recognize that but with japanese instruments?). the biking music. 'chop chop machop! chop away on rocks!' (we used to say that to each other all the time it was like a little sung ditty). exploring the underground and digging and dodging traps and capture the flag and secret bases.. the sound of the map opening (it's such a satisfying crunch). like dude... i am getting nostalgia for my childhood... for something i myself didn't play and only faintly remember from forever ago... and only recently have been able to fully be a part of. it's such a surreal and unique experience. if anyone ever asks i'm going to tell them i played gen 4 as a kid bc i basically did (technically i did bc i used to beg my sister to let me play the mining minigame in the underground lol. that's the only thing i wanted to do). partially. i don't remember everything but like i remember a lot
