I WILL answer the ask prompts I am hoarding in my inbox like an OCD dragon, but my health has been super wonky for the past few days. I'm always exhausted, I woke up this morning and was dizzy and could barely walk and had like a toddler's control over my motor skills and it was legitimately distressing to me.

I should probably see a doctor soon, but I have work starting tomorrow and I really cannot afford to postpone it any longer due to being sick after coming home from Philly even if I am literally being held together by scotch tape and bandaids.

the problem with tek8 is that it really did have some clever scenes / messages, and fine execution. but there are just huge problems that prevent it from being a great story for me. necessary retcons that didn't happen, unnecessary retcons that DID happen, some of which ruined a lot of the established lore, the constant focus on tek6 (hard to avoid given that, well, jin's the main character. but when you add to the fire instead of extinguishing it, then you're gonna lose more to the flames)

plus there was also a problem with characters feeling like... plot devices or set up for plots? like reina. no matter how much you enjoy her character, you can't deny she had very little purpose in the story. like it was blatantly clear she had the devil gene. literally all her scenes was like "yes devil gene? i am interested in the devil gene." you could cut her out of the story and nothing would change except for the very last bit setting up the next game. then leroy. leroy is fun, and him being supportive of jin is sweet. but... it's also kinda confusing. like we get he admires jin for standing up to kazuya in new york, but you also question why he decided to care so much about a man he barely knows / had just met. like even when the other tournament fighters agreed to join lars' rebellion, leroy's specific reason was "for jin." it just kinda felt like leroy was there to push jin into believing in himself / separating himself from kazuya and such, and it felt way more unnatural than it did with other characters. like it itself felt pushed.

ooc;; meeting nandor is an experience like no other, that will leave people wondering "wtf, is this guy for real?" in both a positive or negative way (or perhaps both), and 10 years from now, at the most random moment, he will pop in somebody head's and it's gonna be like "one time i met this dude..."

one of the genuinely endearing things kaeya can do, when caught red-handed stealing or taking something, is to protect it.

and i mean, actively preventing it from being taken back from him by cradling it tight against his chest, pouting daggers at the person trying to take it back. it's a simple reflex, adelinde has many times seen a much younger kaeya do the same gesture with the cookie jar against his chest.

( he can be talked into giving back the object fairly easily- a simple, outstretched hand and waiting a few seconds will suffice. he'll give the object back... looking all contrite like the person wanting their stuff back is the one committing a mild crime, and hoping that the person is endeared enough by his rascal attitude to let him keep it- )
