Flashing back to sunnier times, precisely 20 days ago, when @tomgibson3783 took his personalized (see fretboard inlays) 1959 #Gretsch #6125Anniversary in original #smokegreen finish out for it's first live spin. . Tom got the #guitar for a reasonable price because the fretboard was damaged and not repairable. He had our mutual friend @guitarfixr at @folkwaymusic install this replacement fretboard with his name on it, and since the originality of the guitar was already buggered up anyway they decided to rout it for a second pickup as well. The original #PAF #Filtertron in the neck has been joined by a #TVJones model with PAF cover. Bet ya can't guess who owns this guitar... 😄 . I spent an enjoyable evening watching @tomgibson3783 playing his super sexy smoke green 1959 #Gretsch #6125 Anniversary with his band Pogo Rodeo yesterday. . The last time I posted a pic of this guitar was about 2 years ago when it was a mere empty husk on the bench of @guitarfixr at @folkwaymusic who restored and modded the guitar for Tom. It started life as a '59 6125 with a badly replaced fretboard. A customized fretboard, with Tom's name inlaid, and second pickup (thus converting it to a de facto "Double Anniversay") were installed. The original Patent Applied For #Filtertron pickup is in the neck and a custom ordered matching unpotted Filtertron with PAF cover from @tvjonesinc is in the bridge. The finish is original with superb pinstriping added by @rollie_pinstriper. . I'm hoping Tom will lend me this beauty at some point so I can get you some detailed shots! 😄 .
