Poetry in the Wild (feat. Cake Wars)
So fun fact about me: I absolutely love baking shows. It's a bit ironic in a way seeing as I can't eat anything on the baking shows, but they're usually so happy and upbeat and I love the artistry of it--very much a comfort show for me. BUT, oh my gosh, friends, there was the most heartbreaking (clearly unintentional) poem on an episode of Cake Wars I just watched. Maybe I've just been in a sad mood recently, but it was incredibly moving to me, so I felt it deserved to be shared.
Standing over what was our cake
It hurts.
It's over.
Sadness sets in
-Aaron from Cake Wars (S1 Ep.6)
(A/N: Poor Aaron from Cake Wars, but a baking show had no business being this raw. Ouch!)

I think it’s very healthy to spend time alone. You need to know how to be alone and not be defined by another person.

Poetry in the wild, Karl Marx Str.
four green papers are pasted with red tape to a telephone pole on the side of a busy road. the whole display is outside of a job-koncept, an unemployment office. the green papers have a poem written on them.

Wild Geese
by Mary Oliver
You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves. Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine. Meanwhile the world goes on. Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain are moving across the landscapes, over the prairies and the deep trees, the mountains and the rivers. Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again. Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting -- over and over announcing your place in the family of things.

“The aim of life is self-development. To realize one’s nature perfectly,—that is what each of us is here for. People are afraid of themselves nowadays. They have forgotten the highest of all duties, the duty that one owes to one’s self. Of course they are charitable. They feed the hungry, and clothe the beggar. But their own souls starve, and are naked. Courage has gone out of our race. Perhaps we never really had it. The terror of society, which is the basis of morals, the terror of God, which is the secret of religion, —these are the two things that govern us.”
