Mogiła

After the January Uprising in 1863 many dead insurgents where buried in mass graves near the battle site, often in the forest. There is one such mass grave near my village in Eastern Podlasie, and after hiking through the woods for an hour I ended up drawing a woman in local folk costume on the same hike i had just completed, visiting that very grave. also heavily inspired by Nad Niemnem, forever obsessed.

Kasztelik Korona Podlasia

Niezwykle urokliwe miejsce niedaleko wsi Olendry nad Bugiem. Pan Jerzy Korowicki, mechanik i radny z Siemiatycz, którego pasjonuje kamieniarstwo, postanowił zrealizować szalony pomysł budowy zamku i wykonać go własnoręcznie z polnych kamieni. Polecam artykuł o tym sympatycznym panu i jego dziele, które stało się już atrakcją turystyczną w regionie. :)

The Crown of Podlasie

An extremely charming place near the village of Olendry on the Bug River. Mr. Jerzy Korowicki, a mechanic and councilman from Siemiatycze, who is passionate about stonemasonry, decided to realize the crazy idea of building a castle and make it with his own hands from field stones. His work has become a tourist attraction in the region. :)
