Check out this great tip from @productionmusiclive 👌 #finetuning is everything #Repost • • • • • There is more than just one trick in the book when it comes to snare tuning - or sample tuning in general.⁣ Your mix will never sound super solid if your kick is out of key. With a snare hit it is not as essential, but still adds a lot of depth and ‚sonicness‘ to the track.⁣ ⁣ Of course and I can not highlight that enough, there are countless tools and techniques to do this, but today’s trick in particular offers us a lot of possibilities, since we keep the same structure or texture of a sample, yet are able to change it’s tonality. ⁣ ⁣ So whenever you need slight adjustments to an individual sample, you could follow these steps to have one more trick up your sleeve.⁣ ⁣ Steps⁣ 1 load EQ⁣ 2 find the low peak of your snare⁣ 3 increase with bell curve⁣ 4 check root note of your song⁣ 5 load frequency shifter⁣ 6 sit back. Listen to the track. Slowly increase the frequency, until you find the root note⁣ 7 apply FX and fine tweak⁣ ⁣ Of course you can use this technique for different samples and sounds, since it is so easy and straight forward.⁣ ⁣ Go experiment and tell us in the comments what sounds you tuned and if it worked.⁣ ⁣ We wish you the best possible start to the weekend and some good ideas in your DAW!⁣ Best, PML⁣ .⁣ .⁣ #studiosetup#futurebass#ableton#abletonlive#tutorial#productionmusiclive#abletontemplates#housemusic#serum#nativeinstruments#producing#beats#sounddesign#studio#studiosession#abletonpush#pmltipoftheday#musicproduction#producingmusic#production #deephouse#mastering#mixing #rapper #songwriting#musician#beatmaker #artist https://www.instagram.com/p/BvHzTcjFdv7/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1rkhyt1b69670

Reposting @productionmusiclive:⠀ ...⠀ "Yes, you got us - we wanted to post something with a ghost today. ⠀ The word “ghost” is pretty common in the music production community - ghost kicks (check our feed post from 2 days ago), ghost productions (of course nobody does that) or todays post about ghost notes.⠀ ⠀ Ghost notes are those almost unrecognizable drum hits or barely strum guitar or bass strings, that often make a song groove a lot more.⠀ Originally derived from the blues and funk lords back in the day, ghost notes tear down walls to modern productions - or they flew right through them (hahaa). The velocity of MIDI notes can be adjusted, until you start to just “feel” the samples, but can not completely hear them.⠀ ⠀ Tip 1: play off⠀ Ghost notes or blue notes are said to be the backbone of groovy jazz and funk songs, by adding a percussive layer, where there used to be only long precise notes.⠀ When editing your next drum beat, try placing a lot of short snare hits on off beats (8ths notes is a good length to start) and turn the velocity down all the way. Now start bringing it up again, until you get the feeling, that the groove is enhanced, but without really hearing them.⠀ Also try using a different snare sample for the ghost notes.⠀ ⠀ Tip 2: choke notes⠀ Especially when it comes to the bass, ghost notes can make the whole song.⠀ Try to find two bass samples (or create them yourself), where one has a lot of mid and high frequencies in it and the second one with a high cut. Try to play around, which one is more suited for the main bass and let the other one play very short notes on the same key, but with a lot less velocity. This will create a more elaborate groove fast.⠀ ⠀ As a Halloween special, we give you a limited time offer of 27%! Just enter SCARY27 .⠀ .⠀ #studiosetup #techno #ableton#abletonlive #tutorial#productionmusiclive #arrangement #housemusic #serum#nativeinstruments#producing #beats#sounddesign #studio#studiosession#abletonpush#pmltipoftheday #musicproduction#producingmusic #production #deephouse#mastering #mixing #rapper #songwriting#musician #beatmaker #artist #dj #education" https://www.instagram.com/p/Bq-Ji0XnBzJ/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=onqs8hzlnkrs

Check out this awesome tip for improving your 808's from @productionmusiclive #Repost 😀🎶🔥 • • • • • Yes guys, of course there are many ways of designing your own 808 sample to use and play in your tracks. If you are like us and get more and more tired of the samples out there, you want to just do them yourself - if you end up making an entire 808 sample pack let us know ;)!⁣ ⁣ There is not too much to it, but you should already have a very clear vision of what you want it to sound. The sheer endless variety of different sounds for different genres like techno, house and of course modern hip hop and trap music can sometimes be overwhelming. ⁣ ⁣ Tip 1 - referencing⁣ Find your reference sound and redo it. That way you practice and know when you are done - being when it sounds exactly the same. Now you can start branching out to find your own unique 808 sound for your tracks.⁣ ⁣ Steps⁣ 1 load wavetable synth (does not have to be the one we used)⁣ 2 increase sustain⁣ 3 open matrix and increase pitch of envelope 2⁣ 4 create a short peak of your envelope⁣ 5 add saturation tool⁣ 6 set to mono⁣ 7 increase glide⁣ 8 write your bass line⁣ ⁣ What type of song would you use that sound for? Tell us Artist and Song Title in the comments!⁣ ⁣ Have a great day producing some killer tunes!⁣ Best, PML⁣ ⁣ .⁣ #studiosetup #futurebass #ableton#abletonlive #tutorial #productionmusiclive #abletontemplates #housemusic #serum #nativeinstruments #producing #beats#sounddesign #studio #studiosession #abletonpush #pmltipoftheday #musicproduction #producingmusic #production #deephouse #mastering #mixing #rapper #songwriting #musician #beatmaker #artist #dj https://www.instagram.com/p/Buv-H80F7zX/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=atw18nfzqsy0

Looking to improve how you process your vocals? 🤔 Check out this awesome tip from production music live! 🎙️🎤🎶 #Repost @productionmusiclive • • • • • Processing vocals is a crucial point in music production. Many of you keep asking us, if we have a certain routine we do as a basis and to get vocals to sound right in your mix. Yes and we want to share it with you! Some of you might remember the ‘Synth Wave’ post we did some time ago. We recorded some basic vocal ideas and want to show you our routine on this example. Should we make a new template out of this? Please tell us in the comments! If you want to learn a lot more on mixing vocals we suggest you watch our YouTube series on “Mixing Vocals part 1-4”, because we go through all the details from melodyne to de-essing. You will find the link in today’s stories! There are 3 aspects you should devote your time and ears to everytime 1 adjusting the main vocals in the harmonic bed of the backing vocals 2 leveling, panning and FX 3 mixing to context of the track If you follow these guidelines, you will develop a feeling for the different and equally important parts of the mixing process, since your vocals should stand out and shine at all times. You might need to adjust levels in different sections or compress some parts heavier than others depending on the instrumentation. Here are today’s basic steps to get a good starting point. Steps 1 trim breathing 2 add compression (main vocals can get a pretty heavy setting sometimes) 3 cut low end and noisy highs (de-essing) 4 load OTT for richer harmonics 5 reverb & delay with send effects 6 apply sidechain routed to the main vocals and sidechaining the backings 7 cut endings to prevent multiple word endings Tip - go easy #studiosetup#futurebass#ableton#abletonlive#tutorial#productionmusiclive#abletontemplates#housemusic#serum#nativeinstruments#producing#beats#sounddesign#studio#studiosession#abletonpush#pmltipoftheday#musicproduction#producingmusic#production #deephouse#mastering#mixing #rapper #songwriting#musician#beatmaker https://www.instagram.com/p/BtQ32hpls6V/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1rkqkmwhgs5dc

We found this to be really helpful and hope you do too! 😉 #Repost @productionmusiclive • • • • • Undoubtedly vocals are an element in the song we naturally pay most attention to. That might be caused by the feelings evoked with a human voice, but also because it is the only ‚instrument‘ that can carry 2 levels - melodically and lyrically. As a producer we tend to mix human voices centered and dominant, which increases the effect. That is why there are also a lot of techniques to let vocals shine. One trick we are talking about today, is the vocal fade in effect that gives your main vocals more room to breathe and initiates beginnings of new sequences. Here is how you do it. Steps 1 record or choose your vocals 2 load reverb 3 make it wet and long 4 trim to have a clear signal 5 record the reverb on another track 6 reverse your audio track 7 place it as a fade in to your vocal line Tip: play around with placement Maybe you recognized the sound we used today - it is from the synth wave post a couple of days back. Should we do a template with vocals out of it? Leave a comment if you want to hear it! . #studiosetup #futurebass #ableton #abletonlive #tutorial #productionmusiclive #abletontemplates #housemusic #serum #nativeinstruments #producing #beats#sounddesign #studio #studiosession#abletonpush #pmltipoftheday #musicproduction #producingmusic #production #deephouse #mastering #mixing #rapper #songwriting #musician #beatmaker #artist #dj https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs54BmMA9PD/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1ex1owksoiyr3
