Why You Should Totally Use an iPod (or Any Offline Music Player) in 2025 🎶📱
In 2025, streaming is king—Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, you name it. We all have millions of tracks at our fingertips, so why would anyone go back to using an old-school iPod or an offline music player? Well, as it turns out, there are some solid reasons why these classic devices still totally slap when it comes to music listening. Here’s why you might want to ditch the streaming apps for a bit and give offline music players another shot. 😎🎧
1. No Wi-Fi? No Problem! 🌍✈️
Picture this: you're on a plane, road trip, or out in nature with zero internet. No streaming, no buffering, just silence. That’s where offline music players shine. Download your favorite playlists or albums ahead of time, and you’re ready to vibe anywhere. No internet connection needed, and no annoying "Oops, something went wrong!" errors. Just pure, uninterrupted music. 🎶🚗
2. Your Battery Will Thank You 🔋💯
We all know how fast streaming drains your phone’s battery. You’re halfway through a road trip, jamming out to your latest playlist, and boom—your phone dies. But with an iPod or offline music player, you get hours of playback on a single charge. No more stressing about finding the nearest charger or watching your phone’s battery percentage plummet. One charge, and you’re good to go for days. ⏳⚡
3. Sound Quality = 🔥🎵
Okay, we know streaming apps have come a long way, but if you really care about your sound, offline players are still the way to go. Offline music devices, like the iPod, have top-notch audio hardware (we’re talking DACs and amps) that gives you clearer, crisper sound—especially if you’re rocking some quality headphones. So, if you’re an audiophile or just want your music to hit, offline players deliver a way better experience than streaming apps, which often compress the sound to save data. 🎧💯
4. No Distractions, Just Music 🚫📱
Let’s be real—streaming on your phone comes with so many distractions. Notifications, DMs, TikTok videos, emails... you name it. But with an offline player? You’re free from all that noise. You’re just there, vibing with your music. No checking Instagram between tracks, no stress about missing out on FOMO. It’s just you, your playlist, and your vibe. 🖤✨
5. Curate Your Own Vibe 🎶🎚️
Streaming services try to push their playlists on you. And sure, personalized mixes are cool, but if you’re not in the mood for the same old algorithmic suggestions, offline music players let you curate your music your way. Want a deep cut from your old school playlist? Or that indie band nobody else knows about? It’s all in your hands. Plus, you won’t have to deal with songs disappearing from streaming platforms because of licensing issues. You’ve got your own library forever. 📀💿
6. Nostalgia Feels 😍📼
There’s something special about using a vintage iPod or MP3 player. For Millennials, it’s a throwback to those simpler times when you carried around your 160GB iPod Classic (or the OG Shuffle) like a badge of honor. For Gen Z, it’s an iconic piece of retro tech that’s kind of cool again. It’s a throwback to the days before endless scrolling, when music was personal, tangible, and could be enjoyed without any distractions. Plus, it’s a vibe to scroll through your playlists on a click wheel or tap buttons instead of swiping on your phone. 🖤
7. No More Data Drama 📉📱
Ever check your phone bill after a month of streaming music on mobile data? Yeah, it's not fun. Offline music players don’t use any data. None. Zip. If you’re on a limited data plan or trying to save money, downloading music and enjoying it offline is a game-changer. Plus, it frees up your phone storage for memes, pics, and your other apps. 😂💾
8. Built to Last 💪🛡️
Want a device that can survive your gym workouts, camping trips, or just being shoved into your backpack every day? iPods and offline music players are usually way more durable than fragile smartphones. They’re designed for music lovers who want a device that can handle the wear and tear of an active lifestyle. And, with most models offering water resistance or being shockproof, you don’t have to worry about breaking it during your next adventure. ⛺️🎒
9. Perfect for Hardcore Music Lovers 🎤🎸
If you’re serious about your music collection, nothing beats owning it. Streaming services can be awesome for discovering new tracks, but owning your music means you’re not at the mercy of disappearing songs or playlist restrictions. Plus, if you’re into high-res audio, offline players often support FLAC, WAV, and other lossless formats that deliver real sound quality. For true music lovers, there’s just no comparison. 🎶🔊
10. A Break from the Digital Chaos 🧘‍♂️🌿
Let’s face it, we all need a mental reset from constant notifications, work emails, and social media updates. Using an offline music player lets you disconnect from the chaos. It’s a mini escape that’s as much about mental clarity as it is about enjoying music. Taking a moment for yourself with zero distractions is so refreshing, and music can be a serious mood booster. ✌️🌞
11. Streaming Prices Are Rising—Fast 💸📈
Here’s a big one: subscription prices for streaming services have been steadily increasing year after year. Whether it’s an extra $1–$2 added to your monthly plan, or the rise of more expensive premium tiers, streaming is starting to feel like an expensive habit. While you’re getting the convenience of endless music, the cost can quickly add up—especially if you’re subscribed to multiple platforms. With an offline music player, you make one-time purchases (or maybe just a small initial investment in a device) and keep your music library for life, without having to pay recurring fees. If you’re on a budget, or just want to cut down on unnecessary subscriptions, it’s a solid way to save some cash while still enjoying music. 💰🎧
Conclusion: Why You Should Consider an iPod (or Offline Music Player) in 2025 🎉🎶
In a world where streaming has taken over, using an offline music player might seem old-school—but trust me, it’s still cool and practical. Whether you’re sick of buffering, need better sound, or just want a more focused listening experience, offline music players give you that retro yet modern vibe. Plus, with subscription prices for streaming services continuing to climb, going offline could save you a ton of money in the long run. So, if you’re looking for better music quality, a longer-lasting battery, and a break from the distractions of daily life, grab an iPod (or similar device) and take a step back into the world of offline listening. You might just fall in love with music all over again. 🎶🎧

I wanted to start with Selena's side before moving onto Clark's. He'll be coming later dears. ;)
***************
It's been 3 months since Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle got engaged and it's been 1 month since Selena dumped Bruce on the grounds of being bored. Or so she goes around and tells people. It was much more complex than that, obviously. Bruce wanted kids where Selena didn't… Bruce has kids. Adopted sure, but they're still kids. The late night costume rendezvous also became less frequent and that sort of killed the vibe for Selena… She liked the chase. The tease. Now she was caught and hooked… What was she supposed to do now? Be a wifey? Become a housewife? Join the cast of Housewives of Gotham? Heavy pass.
She was now free to do what she pleases. That also involves slipping into her tight costume that hugged her every curve to distract the thugs of Gotham. Who doesn't love the attention? Her catsuit was like a second skin. The zip stopped halfway down her sternum, revealing her cleavage that was tucked firmly in her clothes.
During one night ,while she was stalking the rooftops in her favourite neighbourhood, she heard some gunfire from the streets. She snorted to herself. "Batman will be after their asses soon. Poor souls." While chuckling to herself it slowly dawned on her… She hasn't heard from Bruce or Batman for 3 weeks. Furrowing her brow she checked her phone. No missed calls Messages. She shrugged it off, he's probably drowning his sorrows in the nearest bar - crying because she left him. Or so she told herself. Anyone would cry after being dumped by her.
Her train of thought was interrupted by a shuffle of feet landing on the roof with her. The loose pebbles shuffling underneath their weight. "I was just thinking about you." She turned, expecting the brooding bat.
"Thanks, can't say I was thinking about you." Dick Greyson, better known as Nightwing, retorted back to her with a wink. "What pleasure do I owe being thought of? My handsome looks?" He smirked at her. Selena scoffed. Nightwing stood in front of her in his own tight costume that showed off his athletic body.
"I thought you were the big, bad Bat." She placed a hand on her hip, while looking over at him. "What are you doing here? Thought you were exiled to Bludhaven?"
"Exiled?" Dick put a hand over his heart. "Is that what Bruce told you? No it was Damian wasn't it?" Shook his head. "Ass."
"Mhm. He is a brat, I'll give you that but ass? That's all you." She leaned over to peer at his ass and glutes. "Ever thought you should change your name from Dick to something butt related?" Selena joked with a cocky smirk spread across her lips. Dick tutted, wagging a finger at her.
"Careful, you were nearly my Step-mom. That's taboo in places… Other than the internet." Dick rolled his eyes. "My eyes are up here lady." Motioned with his fingers to where his eyes are. "Plus you can talk, you have the same issue as me I bet." Selena couldn't argue that point, she too had a big butt. Bruce loved to squeeze it - amongst other things but that might have been weird to discuss to one of his kids.
"Speaking of Dad…" Selena turned back to look over at Gotham. "Where is he? I would have expected to see him sulking around in the shadows by now. I even stole- I even rescued some jewels from some black market dealer and I half expected to see him." Selena looked over to Nightwing. He looked pensive.
"We haven't heard from him for about 2 weeks now. Not like him. None of us have been scowled at or told we're doing something wrong. Alfred handed me a note when I went to go and see him. It mentions he's gone to see Talia to resolve a feud." Dicked looked confused at Selena. She just shrugged her shoulders.
"Guess he's gone back to his side piece?" She said bitterly. "Hey, no idea. But aren't you the one who ended things?" Dick pointed out after spotting how she spoke and sensed some jealousy. "Hmph!" Selena decided to ignore Dick's comment. "So he's gone back to the league of assassins."
Dick hummed in thought. "Yep, seems like it. After Bruce's run-in with them last time they seemed to vanish. If they're back in Gotham, means somethings going down. I've been looking for their entrance the last few days now. I can't spot anything out of the ordinary. No ninjas to chase either!" Scoffed in disappointment. Selena's brow furrowed.
"I see… Hidden tunnels most likely. Have you asked Killer Croc?" She asked, half serious as she looked over at Dick again. "He knows the sewers like the scales on the back of his mutated paw." Dick pointed at her before half skipping away.
"You have a point Kit-kat." He then swan dived off the edge of the building. Once a performer, always a performer. Show-off. "While you go and get your ass kicked… I'll go for a little girl on girl action." Turning her attention to the 'Garden of Eden' greenhouse and shop down in Bristol Gotham. "Red better be there."
Having made her way across town Selena stood looking at the overgrown greenhouse near the river. Climbing through a broken window she looked around until coming to a large room. To the side was a large plant that looked like it was trodden on and beaten down. Not like Pamela to treat her babies like that…
"You shouldn't have come Selena." A voice echoed around the room making it hard for Selena to pinpoint Poison Ivy's location. "But Red." Selena replied in a sing-song tone of voice. "I thought you missed our little chats. I know I missed you." Selena's gaze shot down as a vine wrapped around her ankle, tearing her off the ground to leave her hanging like she was caught in a boobie-trap. "IVY! Is this anyway to treat a friend?" A pair of giant leaves rustled and flapped to thee floor revealing the fiery, in more than one way, redhead.
"We are not friends!" Ivy snapped back. "You only call me a friend when you want something. You're all take and no give! No wonder Batman came looking for me." Her hand brushed her locks away from her face. Walking over to Selena to stand face to face. Other than Selena being upside down. "-You-" Ivy prodded Selena's forehead with her pointer finger. "You told Batman how to find me… How to enter my place of refuge." Ivy Scoffed, turning her head to the side. "…Ivy. You live in a greenhouse with a rather odd looking tree sticking out of the building. It's not exactly conspicuous." Ivy's attention fell back onto Selena, rolling her eyes at the truth.
"Now why shouldn't I throw you out like the trash you are?" Ivy placed her hands on her hips giving Selena attitude.
Catwoman gasped. "Ivy! You wouldn't litter your own beautiful green earth would you?!" Selena raised a brow, even though she was wearing a mask the fabric lifted with her eyebrow.
"Fine!" Spat Ivy. "You made your point… You can decompose here, feed my babies." Ivy turned on the spot, slapping Selena with her hair. "That will give Batman time to solidify his plan."
Selena found herself being lifted higher into the air. "IVY?! WHAT PLAN?" She screamed only to be turned the right way up.
"Oh, something about ruling the League of Assassins by giving Talia more heirs." Ivy waved her hand dismissively over her shoulder. Selena then felt her body feeling numb, like something tight was wrapped around it… The vines tightened around her body and acted like a cocoon with how they sealed her in.

Butcher having some private time
Tumblr media
Slapping his hands to the thick of his upper thighs, Butcher rose to his feet with surprising grace for a man of his size as he shrugged his jacket off to allow it to drop to the chair.
"Bored as fuck with this, so I'm away for a hand shandy. You girls can amuse yourselves for a little bit, yeah?"
"What?" Head snapping around with a frankly impressive speed, Hughie's look of surprise was familiar on his woefully expressive features.
"Well, I'm gonna wrap my hand around my cock." He paused. "Maybe two hands given how fucking massive it is. And I'm gonna move my hand up and down on it until I shoot off like a priest in a schoolyard."
Mimicking the obscene movement in the air for a few strokes, Butcher then opened his hands in a voilà motion as he held Hughie's vaguely disgusted gaze.
"Oh, wow. Thanks." Hughie nodded. "Too much detail and, uhh, offensive on top." He stuck a thumb up. "Nice going."
"Don't disturb me til I'm finished. If you walk in then I'm gonna aim for your eye."
"Christ, Butcher. Just go, and watch out for hairy palms."
Grunting as he slammed the wooden door behind him, Butcher paused to observe the dingy bedroom which passed as his private space for the moment. Striding forward, the squeal of the springs as he dropped to the metal cot which was barely able to house him made his shoulders cringe as he lay out flat.
"Right, me ol' beauty, let's be having ya."
The zip of his trousers was stiff as he fumbled with the metal for a moment before unlatching the button and dipping his hand within his boxers. Not quite hard yet, he pulled his thick cock free to expose it to the cool air of the room, the scent of chemicals acrid in the air due to Frenchie's drug cookery.
Wrapping his fist around the base, the feel of his pubic hair tickled the heel of his hand and he glanced down to take in the thick patch of hair and the unruly state of it.
"Need a trim." He muttered to the empty room, locking the thought away until his next shower. "Can't be out here looking like a fucking cavemen."
Stroking himself with a casual pace, a satisfied grunt broke free of his lips as he enjoyed the thrum of friction against the soft skin while his cock hardened beneath his grip. About halfway up the shaft, his fingers brushed a thin scar which ran horizontally across his cock; only an inch below a somewhat prominent vein.
The scar, a dangerous reminder of how close he'd once come to doing huge damage to his dick, was the result of a fall from a first floor window into a skip full of old building materials. A sheet of scrap metal had almost made a eunuch of him and the memory was enough to make him wince, even as he brushed over the scar gently.
Blinking away the recollection, he tightened his fingers as he switched his thoughts to something a bit more likely to get him where he needed to be.
Maeve had been a hell of a lay.
Two years ago, the thought of fucking a supe would have sickened him but having wet his whistle in the delightful bitch, he had to give her credit where credit was due. Even with the alcohol having dulled his senses at the time he could easily remember just how fucking tight she was and how she'd taken everything he had to offer and more. Not only that, but she knew what it was. They were two fuck-ups enjoying a roll in the sack, no feelings necessary.
She used his as much as he used her.
Hand dropping to his balls, he rolled them between his palm as arousal shot through his gut at the simple gesture.
Props to the old girl, she had his respect in more ways than one.
Hughie's bird, her with the 'girl next door' penthouse vibe, briefly crossed his mind but he passed her over. She was a beaut, no doubt about it as she paraded about like fucking baby spice, and although he could see her growing steel she was still a bit too soft around the edges for his liking.
Plus, as much as it needled him how defensive the little twat was about her, she was Hughie's missus and he would respect that.
Besides, if he found out Hughie was thinking about Becca like that then he'd rip the little cunts femur out and use it to smash his brain in.
Becca.
No one came close.
The things that woman could do with her mouth would have made her Catholic gran have a fatal stroke. She was an angel. Much too good to him as she gave him that cheeky little wink that said she would let him finish in her mouth later that night if he finished the dishes for her.
Hand fisting along his cock with a more rapid pace, his minds eye flooded with memories which made his length twitch and throb. God, him and Becca had fucked on every surface in their house. Flashbacks of her bent over the kitchen table quickly melted into memories of him flat out on the couch with her straddling him; taking every inch as her perfect tits bounced with every thrust and her hair fanned about her in that curly way he fucking adored.
God, he loved her, and not a single woman would ever compare.
Lost in the past, it was easy for him to bring himself to the edge as his teeth bit into his lower lip to keep his gasps and grunting to a minimum. His thumb brushed over the tip of his cock, spreading the pre-cum there and he bucked into his hand at the extra stimulation.
Another few quick tugs and he was there; his free hand coming to hover over his cock as he came, to catch the release and prevent having to change his shirt. Chest heaving as he tilted his head up to meet the ceiling, he briefly regretted not bringing in a smoke.
A sharp rap at the door made him flinch in surprise.
"Hey, Butcher." M.M's voice. "Hughie says you're jerking off in there but when you're done I have news. So finish off and sanitise your nasty hands before touching anything."
"Tell Hughie to come in here, I've got a surprise for him." He called back without hesitation, eyeing up the mess in his hand as a mean tease coated his words. "I'm feeling lucky with my aim and I know he'll love it."
"Yeah! Fuck that, I'd like to keep my sight." Hughie's voice joined in from behind the closed door. "I've seen how you live Butcher and I'm fairly certain your bodily fluids are a CDC concern."
That got a rough chuckle out of him and Butcher grinned as he grabbed a nearby rag from atop one of the small wooden crates and wiped his hand off on it.
"Post-wank clarity, mates." He announced to the nearby pair as he pulled the door open and stepped back into the main room. "It's gotten you cunts out of more jams than you'd like to think about."
Also posted over on AO3 👀💦

All the 2020 kdramas I am interested in (and a few I am not)
DEFINITE
365: One Year Against Destiny (MBC) - I am excited to see Lee Joon Hyuk get a lead role and Nom Ji Hyun needs to work more. Plus, time travel!!!!
Alice (SBS) - Joo Won is back in what looks like a complicated tale of love and time travel and noona romance. YESSS!
The Allies - Time for a Green Hero (KBS) - weird title, but a sageuk about the hero growing into a leader against the Japanese invasion sounds up my alley before his, I am sure, inevitable demise.
Can This Person Be Translated (tvN) - Hong Sisters dramas don’t always work for me, but they always get an automatic look-see.
Eighteen Again (jTBC) - I love Kim Ha Neul and I hope it’s a steamy romance for all those “she is tooooo old for her leading man (Lee Do Hyun)” naysayers.
Half of a Half (tvN) - Park Hae Jin and Chae Soo Bin as an OTP yesss.
Here - Noh Hee Kyung is beyond amazing as a writer and the cast (Lee Byung Han, Han Ji Min, Shin Min Ah, Nam Joo Hyuk) is insane!
Hyena (SBS) - Joo Ji Hoon!!!!! And the teaser looked slick.
Idol Doctor - an idol who sleepwalks and his doctor is a premise that would have made 14 year old me scream in glee.
Itaewon Class (jTBC) - I have developed quite a thing for Park Seo Joon recently, I love revenge, and there is gonna be food! Bring it on!
I Will Find You On a Beautiful Day (jTBC) - Park Min Young, Seo Kang Joon, Lee Jae Wook? I need to look no further. But it also sounds like a healing slice of life romance, yum.
The King: the Eternal Monarch (SBS) - Lee Min Ho in a heroic fantasy tale penned by Kim Eun Suk, and also with Kim Go Eun and Woo Do Hwan in the cast? It’s my dream come true.
Memoir of the Man (MBC) - I like the leads a lot (Kim Dong Wook and Moon Ga Young) and I have discovered that romances with odd premises (he remembers everything, she forgets most important moments) tend to work really well for me.
The Most Beautiful Moment in Life (tvN) - second chance romances with older protags are my fave thing, and when it stars Lee Bo Young and Yoo Ji Tae - my heart!!!
Oddball (MBN) - description is hella confusing but I always check out all the sageuks.
Psycho But It’s OK (tvN) - “ A man who denies love and a woman who doesn’t know love defy fate and fall in love, finding their souls and identities in the process. “ Yes please. Also, Kim Soo Hyun doesn’t do anything for me (I know I know) but he always picks good dramas.
Sandbox (tvN) - Suzy and Nam Joo Hyuk in what sounds like a sweet romance. I happen to like both - they have a warm on-screen vibe and good chemistry with their costars. Also (and that is not a slam), a sweet-natured romance sounds like something that plays to their strengths and avoids their limitations (thoughts of either in an intense melo or sageuk would give me hives, but there they will be perfect.)
Ssanggab Cart Bar (jTBC) - a food stall for the dead? Color me intrigued enough to want to check it out; plus Hwang Jung Eum usually has a very good taste for picking dramas.
The Story of Gumiho (tvN) - Lee Dong Wook as a male gumiho! Jo Bo Ah as his eventual lady love! Fantasy and romance and a very happy Mousie!
Superstar Miss Lee - heroine and another lady swap souls, there is a chaebol possibly played by Yoo Seung Ho, etc etc. Sometimes I am just in the mood for a good, old-school crazy drama.
Train (OCN) - yes, an OCN drama made it on the list, is it a parallel world? Nope, but a parallel world where OCN makes romances may be involved since it stars Kim Jae Wook (OMG yes) as a detective trying to protect his dead love in a parallel world where she is alive. Will miracles never cease?
Welcome (KBS) - and the award for the most insane premise goes to!!! L is a cat (!!!!) who, and I quote, “mastered the art of transformation into human form.” He hooks up with his owner (!!!!!????!!!!) There is so much insanity in this, that I am already riveted, though not necessarily in a good way.
Youth Report (tvN) - I know little about that one but Park Bo Gum has consistently picked dramas I like.
MAYBE
City of Stars: no idea if this one is happening but Ji Chang Wook playing an astronaut sounds interesting. Though he doesn’t always pick the best dramas (hello there, the awful Melt Me), he’s always fun to watch!
Danjong, the Young King (MBC) - any sageuk is at least a try but I literally found zip about this one.
The Game: Towards Zero (MBC) - honestly, the yes/no will depend on whether there is a romance. Someone who can see a dead person’s last moments pairing up with a lady detective to solve serial murders is very far out of my jam (and someone give Im Joo Hwan a leading role dammit, the man is wasted playing the inevitable serial killer) but Taecyeon is adorable even if not the best actor and I would brave this genre if he and Lee Yeon Hee (an underrated girlcrush of mine) are allowed to be a couple.
Late Night Snack Man and Woman (SBS) - bizarre title but I am fond of Sung Hoon despite his less than consistent choice of projects and a conman (who hopefully gets redeemed) sounds fun. I also think the hero pretends to be gay (!?!?!) which I haven’t seen as a major plot point since Personal Choice which could either be fun or bad, who knows.
Memorist (tvN) - I like to watch Yoo Seung Ho but I don’t care for mysteries. Still, it’s on tvN so maybe there will be romance.
Money Game (tvN) - banking and money scheming rarely works for me, but sometimes can be a smart thing, plus I have got to check out Go Soo being back on my screen!
Penthouse (SBS) - the insane writer of The Last Emperor and Temptation of Wife. An experienced cast of my favorites with Lee Ji Ah, Shin Sung Rok and Eugene. It will most likely be a trainwreck I will ditch halfway but hope springs eternal.
The Search (OCN) - the star of Nokdu in the DMZ? Yes!!! But OCN does no romance so my enthusiasm is diminished.
Secret - I like Park Hae Jin and Jo Bo Ah well enough, but mainly because I am damn curious if this baby will ever air!
So I Married an Anti-Fan - this a prefilmed drama that seems to find a home nowhere which means its probably not good, but the premise of an idol having to shack up with his anti-fan for publicity is too amusing for me not to at least want to peek if it actually does air.
Touch (Channel A) - I have an oddly hormonal attraction to Joo Sang Wook (I love the really sexy middle manager look, sue me!) but idols and make-up artists and all that are not necessarily my jam. It depends on the execution.
Unique: Chef Moon - I love Eric to bits but when I start reading the description of a chef dedicated to organic cooking, I start to fall asl...zzzzzzzzz.
WHHHHYYYYY
Hi Bye Mama - I adore Kim Tae Hee, but the premise of a dead wife and mother who comes back for 49 days to her grieving family, presumably including sad children and husband who is only now beginning to recover sounds like one only a genuine masochist could love.
My Holo Love (netflix) - a lonely woman hooks up with an AI. Between the fact that Absolute Boyfriend poisoned me for an AI romance forever, the fact that the heroine has face blindness (isn’t that so 2018?), and that the description includes the extraordinarily maudlin “drama is filled with stories of heartbreaking loneliness and tear-stained love,” I will pass.
Que Sera Sera - out of sheer trainwreck curiosity because I adore the original and why remake a drama that’s only a bit over a decade old, and with relative newbies.
What’s Happened in Bali - if it ever gets made that is (please no.) The original is amazing but they are not repeating the Jo In Sung - So Ji Sub - Ha Ji Won casting miracle and there is no need for a remake; plus this drama is something that makes sense in 2005 but less so in 2020 and just generally leave a classic alone, people.

Looks like we are starting to hit the season of fall fashions!  Simplicity has just announced their Pre-Fall collection, and I’ll be posting about Butterick’s Early Fall collection tomorrow as well!  Fall fashions tend to be my favorite, but, if I’m being honest, I’m not the most excited with these new releases.  Perhaps my feelings will change as I write this review (as they sometimes do), but as of right now, I’m holding out for the August Burda before I get really excited about fall fashions this year.  Regardless, there is a lot to look at in this release, so let’s get started:
8686 – 1940s Vintage dress.  I tend to like 40s fashions, but this is one of those styles that really is too cute/sweet/girly for me to picture myself wearing.  I think the vintage lovers will enjoy this dress – it has lots of great features and style lines, but I think this is also one of those styles that looks distinctly vintage, and isn’t necessarily as translatable to someone who enjoys doing a “sneaky vintage” modern wardrobe.
8687 – This shirt dress, on the other hand, feel very modern.  Also perhaps slightly scandalous?  I definitely get a “wearing my man’s oversized shirt as a robe after I get out of bed” vibe from this.  Not that there is anything wrong with that.  But I think it may limit the versatility of this as a wardrobe piece.  I do like the asymmetric hem and the wrap style, but, there is definitely a vibe I get from this piece that I don’t know if I’d be comfortable wearing in public.  Maybe a belt would change that feel for me?  Styling could change this look a lot I think…  Feel free to completely disagree with me in the comments on this one – I feel like this could be a super popular design, since it is one of the more unique looks in this release.
8688 – This dress has some nice options, between the sleeve styles and the skirt styles.  I don’t know that I need to add it to my collection – I’ve got some knit dress patterns from back when I very first started sewing that are pretty similar – but I like this dress.  Looks like it would be great as an outfit base for those fall days when you need to transition between layers and no layers.
8689 – This style of tunic really isn’t anything new, but I do think Simplicity did a nice job of styling and presentation.  Another pass for me, but I would be excited to see other sewing bloggers make this one up.
8690 – Mimi G. Style.  I’m going to say that this dress looks adorable on Mimi!  But, again, this is a case where I know it isn’t something I’d wear myself, so it’s going to be a pass from a personal standpoint.  It is super cute though – the proportions of the sleeves are great in relation to the whole dress.
8691 – Sew Chic dress.  This is clearly a vintage inspired look.  I like it, especially the short sleeved version, but I’m pretty sure I’ve got several vintage re-releases that are quite similar.  Another style that I find to be cute, but not special enough to warrant a spot in the stash.
8692 – 1950s Vintage blouse pattern.  I do like the shape of these blouses: fitted, but not overly so.  I’m not a big fan of zippers on the back of a top, but for views A-C it is pretty unavoidable with such a high neckline.
8693 – This asymmetric top looks like a button front shirt got halfway put on backwards to me.  I do like the simpler versions (as a one-shoulder 80s-inspired sweater I’m all about this pattern!), but I’m really not a fan of the view that Simplicity used for the model photo – it just looks ill fitting and sloppy.
8694 – At this point there really is nothing left to say about these loose tops with sleeve details, except, look, another one!  This one does have dolman sleeves, so I guess that’s a new-ish variation to this style?  Really, though, at this point there are so many, just pick one.
8695 – 1930s Vintage sleeve patterns.  Do I want this to use on modern sewing pattern?  No.  Do I want this for part of my costume/cosplay pattern stash so I can study the drafting on these sleeve variants?  You better believe it.
8696 – I prefer my cardigans with less volume and more length, but this does look rather cozy.
8697 – The square boyfriend blazer really isn’t a look that works for me, so I’ll avoid this pattern for myself, but I do like the single and double breasted options here, as well as the collar variants.
8698 – I know it’s a drawstring pant, but it’s a drawstring pant with stripes and pockets and I like it.
8699 – I also rather like this skirt as well.  I think I perhaps already have more than enough wrap pencil skirts in my Burda stash, but this one pattern seems to have a lot of variety, even though the pattern tweaks are pretty minimal between views.
8700 – Pattern Hacking.  I’ve been thinking I want a more casual jacket for fall, but something about the proportions of this one just aren’t doing it for me.
8701 – Pattern Hacking.  Somehow switching out pockets doesn’t seem like much of a “hack,” but what do I know?  I do like the silhouette and overall look of these, but, again, very similar to other styles I’ve got in the stash already.
8702 – Mimi G. Style.  This tracksuit is pretty cute and very 80s.  I’s not be interested in the drop-crotch pants at all, but I do like the jacket, and the slim-legged pants are cute for a fall work-out look.
8703 – This was a pattern that initially I just skipped over (it’s a plain yellow top and leggings), but, actually, those other tops with the stomach gathers are pretty cute!  I don’t know if this will make it onto my wishlist, but it is a definite maybe.
8704 – Love these pull over tops!  The raglan sleeve and length look great for exercising is colder weather.  Plus, lots of cool pockets for exercising with devices.
8705 – This man’s version somehow doesn’t read as exciting as the woman’s pattern, but the sleeve pouch for a phone or iPod is pretty great.
8706 – Baby Gear.  Not much to say about baby clothes, but the layers look practical.
8707 – I’ve been toying with the idea of a lace cardigan for a while, and this is exactly what I wanted.  Love this!  Totally going into my stash until I can locate the perfect lace fabric for this endeavor.
8708 – These girls dress are pretty generic, but also pretty cute for fall.
8709 – Gertrude Made bags.  I don’t love the aesthetic of the bags in the photos, but from the line drawing, these are totally bags I would use.  I do wish it was drafted for a zip closure, but I suppose that is something one could find a way to add?
8710 – These large travel duffle bags are also not depicted in a color scheme I’d enjoy, but I do love how practical the bags are, plus they fit over the handle of a rolly suitcase!  So cleaver.  I’d be curious to see how the inside is drafted (pockets???), but I think this might be on my list, since it seems my travel schedule is upping in the next year or so.
8711 – Madalynne.  The bra does not look supportive enough for anyone outside of the A/B range, and why would you want to add butt ruffles to your underwear?  I mean, really?  At least from the standpoint of wearing underwear under clothes in any case.  I was going to ponder the butt ruffle as an analog to a tail feather and the implications that could have in mating rituals, but I shall refrain.
8712 – Aprons.  Pretty simple, not too exciting, but could be good if you want to make a “mommy and me” sort of look.  The aprons loop pretty practical, if not overly embellished – nice pockets and full coverage.
8713 -Hats!  These are actually pretty cool, and really practical styles for costuming.  Love how much variety comes in a single pattern too.
8714 – Love the historical doll clothes.  So cute.
8715 – Ok, I want, nay, NEED this dragon in my life!  How stinking cute is this?  And, I mean, let’s be real – I need at least three of them.  That’s right – NEED.
8716 –  These bears are cute, but they aren’t dragons.
8717 – More aprons.  I find the other style to be more pragmatic.
8718 – I’m sure the internet will tell me if I’m wrong, but I really feel like this is supposed to be a Rey/Daenerys mash up of costume pieces?  Lots of great pieces in here for the cosplayers out there.
8719 – I’m less excited by this… I don’t know what to call it?  Generic sexy fantasy style pattern?  I feel like all of these pieces have been recombined from pre-existing patterns.
8720 – Good job on picking up that it is the 25th anniversary of Hocus Pocus!  I’m not even sure Disney has grasped that yet…  I’ve not seen crazy heavy advertising about re-release special editions or anything.  In regards to the pattern, I do wish these Sanderson sisters were a bit more detailed in the designs, but, bravo to Simplicity for winning at the cultural relevance game.
8721 – One should never pass by a good cape pattern.  The hood shape looks really great, and the cape is nice and full.
8722 – Once again, I’m sure the internet will inform me, but I’m not quite sure which franchise Simplicity is referencing here?  There are certainly shows I watch where jumpsuits are “the look” but this pattern is much baggier and less fitted than the styles used in those shows.  The tan one is a very Ghostbusters vibe, but I’m not sure if that is the reference I’m supposed to be picking up on here?
8724 – Kids Star Wars/Superhero costumes.  Really versatile, and really cute.
8725 – Nice to see Ariel added to the Disney Princess lineup.
8726 – Super generic kids costumes.
8727 – More generic kids costumes.
8728 – Cool way to do a mermaid tail in this pattern.
8729 – Kids capes, because, capes!
5628 – Jiffy pattern re-release.  This literally is a piece of fabric folded in half, with two partial seams, and a neck opening.  Pass.
9192 – Men’s vintage ties are kinda cool.  Not the massively wide one, but the skinny tie or bow tie could be useful.
And that’s it!  On the whole my top picks for this release really are in the craft/costume/cosplay realm.  Not too much new or exciting in the main release.  There is a lot of stuff I found “cute” but not much I felt needed to be added to the collection.  What do you all think?  See anything that is going to kick-start your fall sewing?  Or are we waiting for the bigger releases coming later next month?  Feel free to discuss in the comments!

STAR Labs is a lot more comforting at night, Iris thinks. There’s a pleasant hum of machinery and a little bit of moonlight shines through the high windows, casting multiple, dim rectangular glows on the floor. There’s no hustle or frantic haste or tears or a perpetual fear of death after everyone has gone home. Instead of feeling tense, jaw tight, just waiting for an alert that is followed by Barry rushing away to save the world, yet again, she's relaxed and strangely at peace. At this hour she can see how he, Cisco and Caitlin manage to feel so at home here.
Caitlin.
Iris’ eyes travel to the entrance of the cortex, knowing that the doctor was still in her office just down the hall. Stein had run off with whatever it was that would help get rid of the Dominators and Lily had headed home not long after, leaving Caitlin to retreat to her research. Iris had been lurking about the lab all day, flitting in and out on breaks, mainly to see if there was any new news on how their friends were handling the alien race trying to invade their planet.
At the thought of aliens, the lab immediately felt less safe than it had moments ago and Iris pulls her olive colored sweater tighter around herself, as if the stitches themselves could chase away the terrible mental image of the extraterrestrial beings with massive mouths of teeth and a red dot on their foreheads.
As if she could do anything to help.
She'd been severely struggling to find where she fit on Team Flash the past few months. She didn't have the powers or the brains of Barry, Cisco and Caitlin, all she had was her reporting skills and impeccable fashion knowledge, which was going to be of no use when fighting a meta human or… god, aliens.
Barry kept telling her over and over that there would be no Flash without Iris West, but she knew for a fact that there would be, that he was wrong. He had proved just as much for nearly a year as she lived in blissful ignorance to the fact that he was anything more than her adorable, geeky, almost-adopted brother. But of course, she had no one to say anything about her insecurities to, Barry had his speed, her dad his access to information in the precinct, H.R with all of his future tech from his earth, Cisco with his vibing abilities, Wally with his own speed and Caitlin. . .
Caitlin.
Iris doesn't really know what compels her feet to begin dragging themselves out of the cortex and down the hall and she sure as hell doesn't know what she plans on saying when she walks into Caitlin’s spacious office. All she knows is that she doesn't want to be alone anymore and Caitlin is the only person she knows who might understand what she's going through.
The doctor doesn't notice her entrance, bent over her computer and only occasionally looking up to scribble something down in the notebook that sits open beside her. Iris approaches cautiously, her arms folded protectively across her chest.
“Um… hey.”
Caitlin jumps in her seat, curls bouncing, chair spinning in the direction of the voice as an icicle subconsciously flies from her fingertips. Her trajectory is nearly a foot off, fortunately she's always had terrible aim, but it still tears through the sweater of whoever spoke, slashing open the skin of their upper arm. Then follows is a high-pitched yell of pain that Caitlin immediately identifies as Iris’s.
Her identification is verified when Caitlin’s eyes quickly blink across the rest of her body. The same lengthy legs, cascading hair and flawless brown skin as always. Her eyes are squeezed shut, making how long her eyelashes are even more noticeable, and she's grasping at her bicep.
Caitlin jumps out of her chair, guilt coursing through her veins. The feeling is so common nowadays that it might as well just be in her blood, but there's a certain stab of it somewhere more delicate when she realizes she's the cause of that pain on Iris’ face.
“Iris, oh my god! I am so, so sorry. It's just become a reflex. The cuffs are charging right now, ah! Here, here, here,” Caitlin rushes towards the other woman, gently prying her hand away from her bicep and placing her own palm over the bloody wound, beginning to apply pressure. “Hey, can you walk to the med bay for me? I know it hurts and it's cold, but the faster you can get there the faster I can see how deep it is.”
Iris, teeth already chattering slightly, tries to take steady steps back in the direction she'd just come, the shattered icicle crunching under her feet. Caitlin is latched to her arm the entire time she's walking, squeezing Iris’ bicep and whispering a mixture of encouragements and profuse apologies. It feels like forever before she's sitting on the end of a cot, her entire left arm rigid from the cold. She cannot imagine a time where she had been in more pain, or more frozen, than she was right now, which was saying something. She’d been through a hell of a lot in the last year.
Caitlin is running around in a flurry and Iris sees none of the calm and collected precision the doctor has when she works on Barry’s injuries, which doesn't comfort her much. But when she thinks about the similarities between Caitlin zipping around the med bay trying to find bandages and stitches (something she'd vaguely head her mention after sitting down) and Barry zipping around the city trying to save people it does make her laugh a bit, the movement of her lips parting for the sound to escape her throat making her shiver.
Her pain begins to fade, but when Iris looks down at her wound, Caitlin is only halfway through stitching it up and she knows this should be at least a bit more painful than it is; even with the anesthetic Caitlin surely applied. She doesn't remember ever being numbed.
“Mhm, Caitlin, how bad is it?” Iris can hear her own words slur, but concern about it is almost immediately discarded.
She's so tired.
Caitlin looks up from her completed stitch up job at the sound of Iris’s mumbled voice and abruptly shallow breathing. Iris almost giggles at the way her eyes widen and her red painted lips pucker, but when she goes to cover her mouth with her free hand she fumbles, nearly falling backwards onto the cot without a hand to brace herself.
Caitlin catches her before she falls back all the way onto the pillow and Iris thinks she says “My knight in shining armor”. But it's drown out by the doctor’s voice, suddenly laced with fear, speaking:
“Iris? I need you to stay awake for me, okay? Keep your eyes open and try to clear your mind. You're suffering from severe hypothermia.”
“How is that possible?” she protests, attempting to do as the other woman says and sit up further, despite exhaustion eating away at her. “Hypothermia takes a half hour to develop in the coldest of conditions. That icicle hit me like five minutes ago.”
“Ten minutes and forty-three seconds ago, actually. And the sped up side effects must be because of my powers, something about them having a more enhanced cold signature.” Iris only registers bits and pieces of what Caitlin is saying, though she doesn't know whether it has something to do with her hypothermia diagnosis or the fact that the doctor keeps running back and forth between the cot and her supplies neatly organized on a table across the med bay.
Iris nearly drifts out of consciousness after an extended period of silence, which is when Caitlin lets out a yell and removes the heat pack from her arm. Iris misses the warmth almost immediately, but Caitlin’s tug at the hem of her sweater, fingers gently brushing her stomach, fulfills that need almost immediately.
“Take off your shirt,” she demands.
Even with a fogged brain, Iris thinks that shouldn't be the next step in this warming process. “What're you doing, Dr. Snow? Trying to strip me? That's unprofessional, you know. Since I’m dying and all.”
“No, Iris. One, you are not going to die; not while I'm here. And two, I'm not stripping you. I'm asking you to remove your shirt because that way we can attach the heat pack to your wound with medical gauze and tape instead of holding it manually. And also so we can get you into warmer clothes, plus blankets to raise your body temperature to a normal rate.” Caitlin babbles off a logical explanation, one that is surely valid, but Iris sees the way her cheeks flush at the suggestion and feels a sense of joy and accomplishment.
So, wanting nothing more in that moment to be a complying patient, and maybe see Caitlin blush and fumble over her words like a school-girl again, Iris tentatively raises her arms above her head and allows the doctor to pull the sweater up and over, her long hair tangling in the fabric. Then, replacing the embarrassment of being in only a relatively plain black bra (with just a touch of lace on the outer edge) and skin tight jeans in front of Caitlin, with her bouncy brown curls and dark, alluring eyes and gentle, adorable crease between her eyebrows, is the humor at seeing the doctor attempt to keep her eyes off the amount of naked skin Iris is showing.
Caitlin is applying the heat pack to Iris’s bicep with medical gauze, just as promised, when the words “You can raise the body temperature of my lower half too, Dr. Snow” leave Iris’s lips without warning. She can’t help wishing that having hypothermia came with a thought-to-speech filter to prevent her from saying totally outing things like that. No girl that was straight said things like “you can warm my lower half” to other girls, even if they were very pretty and their very touch sent a feeling of pleasure through them.
Iris’s next step is to apologize for her behavior, whether dying (is she dying? how severe was this hypothermia? she didn’t know) or not. But before she can push the actually coherent words out through the haze she’s in, Caitlin speaks in the, what Iris had thought to be, awkward silence.
“Maybe can save that pleasantry for after you’re fully healed, Miss West.”
Oh my god, Iris thinks, her brain momentarily clear with shock, is Caitlin actually hitting on me? Caitlin Snow? And doing a damn smooth job of it? She barely has time to process what that means for them after this is all over before the doctor is continuing as if she hadn’t just blatantly flirted with another woman in the middle of her own med bay:
“What we can do right now, is reclothe you, wrap you in some blankets and get you fed. That will help raise your energy and hopefully your body temperature will be back to normal in an hour or so. Can you cough for me?”
Iris blinks twice, still overcoming her astonishment, stares at the deep red blush dusting Caitlin’s face for a moment, then laughs breathily and chokes a cough out. Caitlin’s pearly smile is worth the harsh pain that sears her throat as she does.
“Do you think you can drink something? It’ll feel good and help, trust me.” Caitlin doesn’t allow her to answer before she’s gone, presumably to where they keep all the food Barry and Wally have to consume in order to keep from passing out every time they run. Iris has never personally seen it, but she can’t imagine the quantity they must have to stash to fill two twenty-something male speedsters.
A mere minute or so after Caitlin disappearance, Iris is longing for her company again. Not just because the lab is dark and she knows someone would be take her out easily in this state if they were to try, but because having the doctor around somehow eases her nerves but accelerates her heartbeat all at once; and it’s a feeling Iris enjoys over and over again. She’s not used to being without it either, even if she and Caitlin don’t speak much on normal occasions, they’re always in the same vicinity, just skirting around each other as two separate entities. Like parallel lines, going in the same direction, so close, but never crossing paths.
Only now, Iris feels as if their lines have intersected. Like maybe all of her quiet dreams and lingering glances might land her somewhere beautiful instead of sending her down the road of loneliness she’d always envisioned for herself after all of the time she’d spent pining after Caitlin Snow.
Her mind begins to wander even farther, thinking of what it would be like to kiss her. Would their first lip lock be sweet and gentle, slow desire burning in Iris’s chest the entire time they’re intertwined and leaving just enough to be desired afterwards? Or would it be more rough, leaving the deep shade of red lipstick Caitlin has taken such a liking to smeared slightly on Iris’s lips--
Caitlin’s head peeks around the corner of the cortex entrance and her abrupt return interrupts Iris’s thought process and she can feel a warm blush creep across her cheeks unwillingly. How had she allowed her mind to wander so far from reality?
“Do you prefer regular hot chocolate or white chocolate hot chocolate? We have both.” Caitlin holds up one dark brown mixture packet in one hand and one white one in the other. “Have you ever tried the white chocolate? Oh my god, it’s delicious, but I’m the only one who likes it. Cisco says it’s ungodly and ruins the purity of all real hot chocolate with it’s existence. He’s so dramatic, but anyway-- uhm, do you even care? Or I can make both, if you want, I mean. . .”
Iris giggles at her babbling, it’s so adorable her chest feels as though it could combust. “White chocolate, for you.”
Caitlin smiles and ducks away again, reappearing a moment later with a STAR Labs sweatshirt and a few blankets draped over her arm. It’s only then that Iris remembers the cold air that’s hitting her bare midriff and shoulders, or feels the weight of the heat pack on her wound. But she only shivers once before Caitlin is raising Iris’s arms over her head and tugging the sweatshirt down over the exposed skin.
She’s so close Iris can smell her flowery perfume and see the dusting of makeup brushed across her nose, covering the dainty freckles that speckle her pale cheeks. She wonders why Caitlin would ever cover up freckles, Iris would die for some of her own, but she’s too busy snuggling into the warmth of the sweatshirt to ask why. Another time, she tells herself as her eyes flutter closed.
“Hey hey hey,” Caitlin says, taking Iris’s face in her hands after quickly draping a blanket over the woman’s shoulders. Her thumbs gently brush Iris’s cheekbones for a moment and the reporter wonders if the motion was supposed to wake her up and not lull her further into sleep.
“Mm,” Iris sighs. It’s not real a response, probably not the one Caitlin was wanting, but she’s playing footsie with the line between conscious and unconsciousness and only hearing bits and pieces of everything. It also doesn’t help that Caitlin’s hands, just as soft as she’d imagined, are still cupping her cheeks, the warmth they’re providing alone enough to raise her body temperature back to normal.
“Can you stay awake for me please?” Though Caitlin surely meant it as a question, her voice is twinged with desperation. Iris realizes that maybe her condition was worse than she thought, that the darkness she had been so longing for was actually death.
“If I fall asleep will it hurt me any?” Iris lays down on the cot, surprised at the spaciousness of it. Her eyes are still closed, but she speaks, the words nothing more than a mumbled breath. Caitlin is close enough that she hears it anyway and with a sigh removes her hands from Iris’s face.
“I suppose not. . . resting is probably good for you anyway, now that your vitals are no longer plummeting and your body temp on a steady rise. I’ll keep the cocoa warm and get more blankets if you want.”
She’s doing that walking-away-before-Iris-has-a-chance-to-answer thing again, the click of her heels already fading. Her dejection was clear, even if friendly kindness was trying to conceal it. And even though she’s very glad her sleeping will not result in her never waking up, Iris thinks that Caitlin must be very lonely, all by herself in this lab when everyone else has gone home to family and friends each night. Iris never, ever wants her to feel that way again. Not while she was around, loving her so dearly, but letting Caitlin suffer while she works up the courage to act upon her feelings.
So when she calls out weakly, it’s out of longing for the comfort and warmth only Caitlin provide. A desperate need to make sure the doctor never feels alone again.
“Cait?”
The clicking of heels stops.
“Can you stay with me? Up here?” Iris shivers and uses that as an excuse for her next line: “Maybe the warmth of another body will help boost my recovery.”
Iris opens her eyes just a bit to see Caitlin’s small smile in the dim moonlight, as she slips off her heels and walks back towards the cot. For a moment she looks ready to climb up immediately, but then pauses at the side in hesitation, fingers idly rubbing the fleece blanket Iris had burrowed herself under.
“Are you sure you’re. . . you know. . .”
Officially too tired to respond, Iris laughs once at her stubbornness then extends her hand from underneath the blanket and pulls Caitlin onto the cot with her. It’s awkward at first, she’ll admit, but after twisting back and forth a few times, trying to make sure they’re both comfortable and the blanket is evenly distributed, Iris ends up the little spoon with Caitlin’s frontside warming her back and making her feel safe in a way she hadn’t in a long time. A few of Caitlin’s curls spill over Iris’s shoulder and she can’t think of a better way to fall asleep than with the smell of tea tree tickling her nose.
Iris snuggles deep, pulling the blanket tighter around her. She can feel Caitlin shift to where her lips are closer to Iris’s ear, sending a shiver up her spine when she speaks.
“You know you’re a bit of a blanket hog, West.”
Iris elbows her in the stomach and after Caitlin’s giggle the world is quiet again, the hum of machinery still going at a steady pace in the background. It’s now lulling Iris to sleep, and as soon as Caitlin’s breath goes even and she begins to snore softly, she allows herself to drift off as well.
STAR Labs is a lot more comforting at night, indeed.

5 Essential Outfits You Need In Your Wardrobe
So you’ve spent a fortune on back to school shopping and are now scrambling to piece together outfits for the new semester. Been there, done that. But let me assure you—just because your bank account’s nearly empty doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to be!
Fall is the perfect time to play with new trends, and it’s easy to create great back to school ensembles on a student budget. Build your foundation with neutral basics that you can pair with any look, then splurge on a couple statement pieces to define your style. With the help of the Divided by H&M collection, we’ve put together five outfits that make you look like a million bucks, without dropping a dime over $100.
1. Classic Back to School
The perfect combo of cute and cozy, this ensemble is a fall staple. The pleated skirt pairs houndstooth and plaid patterns, two of the favorites on the runway this season. A chunky knit on the sweater keeps it casual, while the ballet pumps add a preppy touch. Throw a cute beret on top for Blair Waldorf-approved style while still keeping enough in the bank to crush your student loans.
Textured Knit Sweater: $19.99
Pleated Skirt: $29.99
Ballet Pumps: $14.99
Felted Wool Beret: $14.99
2. Kick Back and Relax
Weekend wear is just as important as school outfits. Denim skirts are this year’s must-have item, and the green color brings the best vintage vibes to your casual outfit. The cute little tie on the top creates the perfect silhouette with the high-waisted skirt, giving you that “comfy but I tried” look. Sneakers are perfect for busy days, keeping the style put-together while guaranteeing you don’t end up with sore feet. I’m not usually one for graphic tees, but let’s be honest, this one is a reminder we could all use.
A-Line Skirt: $29.99
Short Tie-Hem Top: $14.99
Platform Sneakers: $34.99
3. Perfect Night Out
Trust me, a beer jacket is not a substitute for a real jacket. Coat check is annoying and expensive, so make sure your night out ensemble includes a cover up that’s cute enough to keep on hand. This faux fur jacket is super lightweight so it’s not a pain to carry, but still keeps you cozy on those fall nights. Best part? Softness rating = 1000 puppies. The jersey dress is made from stretchy fabric that fits your body, without being so tight that you get tired of it halfway through the night. Pair this look with the platform sneakers from our second outfit for a laid-back vibe. Honestly, clubbing in heels is so overrated.
Jersey Dress With Zip: $29.99
Faux Fur Jacket: $39.99
2-Pack Velour Scrunchies: $6.99
4. Nail the Interview
Every fall wardrobe needs the perfect interview outfit. Whether you’re competing for an internship position or running for student council, having an ensemble that’s both sophisticated and on-trend is a must. The jacket and pants combo is all business, while the patterned fabric gives the look an elevated feel. Secret bonus – these pants fit like perfectly tailored trousers, but they feel like leggings. Even if you’re going straight from a full day of school to a job meeting, you’ll be perfectly comfy and put-together.
Long Jacket: $39.99
Leggings With Side Stripes: $29.99
Cropped Top: $6.99
BUDGET TIP: If money is tight, pack your wardrobe with basics like this simple black crop top. This is a piece you’ll wear with everything, and it’s easy to pair with more bold items for a business or casual look.
5. All Sport, No Sweat
Preppy not your style? Play around with Divided by H&M’s awesome collection of casual sportswear. I love this ensemble because the highwaisted jeans and cropped sweatshirt create a flattering look while still being ultra-comfy. Skinny jeans are a great basic piece for any wardrobe, and the racing stripe stands out for a more personalized look. Whether you’re running to an exam or just running errands, this set brings the heat without the sweat.
Short Hooded Sweatshirt: $29.99
Super Skinny Ankle Jeans: $34.99
Twill Cap With Text Embroidery: $12.99
Even if you’re on a student budget, back to school demands a little shopping spree. Divided by H&M is a great mix of basics and statement pieces that are easy to pair for fun fall looks. Whether you’re prepping for an interview, hitting the movies, or slaying your finals, keep your style lit for under $100.
Plus everything is super comfy (which we all know is the most important part).
