Here is the next chapter for my fic Ranma 3/2

Chapter 3: Blind Tag

Time for school, but which Ranma will be the one attending?

It was truly amazing just how much a mere 24 hours could introduce so many new and interesting surprises for a young and purely innocent girl. Nabiki couldn’t help but think about that as she biked along her usual route to school, the majority of her musings being one (or perhaps as many as four, she speculated) of those surprises from yesterday who was currently running on top of river-side fences and house gate walls, keeping up with her with seemingly no effort. Which, to be fair, really shouldn’t have surprised her at this point. She listened in on the various braggart heavy stories that the one named Kuroma regaled to Kasumi the previous night. And even if one were to discount the clear embellishments given, Akama’s performance that afternoon prior more than demonstrated the potential power of this apparently gestalt boy coming to school with her. Although, the more she thought of it, the more she couldn’t help but wonder if either of those qualifiers were completely accurate. Right, best to clear that up before they made it to their destination. She did have a reputation to maintain after all.

“So,” Nabiki casually called out, “now that I have the chance to talk with just the two of us, more or less, there’s a few things I’d like you to clarify for me.”

“Yeah, figures you’d still have a buncha questions,” the dark haired martial artist sighed as he or maybe she looked down at Nabiki while not missing a step. “Alright, what do ya want to know?”

“Well, first off…” Nabiki drawled out, deliberately pausing for just the exact amount of time to get her target’s interest piqued and vulnerability to its maximum before striking. “It would be good to know who it is I’m actually addressing.”

The Saotome youth seemed to think about this for a moment. “Well, when we’re like this, I guess it’d be easiest just to refer to us as Ranma, since that is who we are after all.”

Nabiki couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at that response, noting that this Ranma appeared to be directing that last part more towards herself or himself rather than towards her. “Interesting, Saotome, but that doesn’t actually answer my question. Namely, which one of the three siblings am I talking to, that is if you really are any of them.”

🪽What’s also is interesting is how Ranma’s plurality was very established by this point in the series. Obviously plurality has been widely misinterpreted for years, but The Cat WAS still there and pretty straightforward! This episode was made with that in the bg! It’s no wonder so much of fandom adapts some variation of her into their works!

So there's definitely talk of Ranma being plural - anywhere I can go to see the members of Ranma's system, or is that too personal to share?

Plural Pride Day seemed a good day to answer this.

We’ve got Ranma, cat-fist/Yoiko (thank the @ayellowbirds crew for associating them in my mind), Am I Pretty’s Ranko, Yin(g) clone going by Inko, and then Lina Inverse is there due to tradition.

(Yin(g)/Inko and Ranma canonically have some romantic tension going on. That hasn’t quite gone away.)

Mhm, mhm, as @sammyaran said, the "plural" ranma scene is taking place mostly in the fic space atm, though it could change with recent... uh, developments.

Us personally have been described as a "plural egg specific hammer" from how consistently we detangle systems with our stories apparently, ahaha ;^^

If you're ever interested in checking the space out, take a look! It's pretty heavily trans positive too, so it'll hopefully but cool either way.

Fun fact! Along with the trans community, Ranma 1/2 is also making a resurgence lately with an entirely different one: systems! (I.E. Plural, the umbrella term to describe multiple consciousnesses/people existing in one body) On top of the body changing curse Ranma has, fans recently have noticed that Ranma has a number of dissociative states in the series (Mostly the cat fist/neko-ken/"Raneko" and the "Girl" from the episode 'Am I Pretty?', and others like 'Ying Ranma').

So Ranma 1/2 has sorta become this one-two punch in attracting both trans people and plural people to it, haha!

Working on "1/2 a detective" and I was musing how I feel about souls and plurality and how I wanted to depict that. And if it would be better to portray headmates as having seperate souls that are essentially seperate spirtual bodies after death or if they still shared one spirutual form. And then it came to us via hearing Genkais voice going, "You fool, if multiple people can share a singular physical form and still be indviduals what makes you think that can't be true for their spirtual form as well."

"Finding Oneself" by JaquiK

Summary: Post-manga ending, Ranma takes Akane out for a girl's day out. It gets gay and plural

Thoughts: We got some classic Ranma Misunderstanding Tango going on in this one, but it's a lot of fun, and honestly Plural!Ranma fits pretty well

"A Simple Promise" by NobleHeroine

Summary: AU in which a lonely Ranma tries to make up for that disasterous first day at the Tendo's by approaching Akane in the night, asking to be friends. Ranma quickly latches onto the idea that Akane would be willing to be friends if he was a girl full time, and tackles the situation with the usual competitive spirit

Thoughts: This one is in-progress, check it out! Unlike a few others AU's I tried, this one doesn't try to play by play scenes we already know, focusing instead on how this promise changes things. Really excited for more of this one

"One to Treasure" by NobleHeroine (didn't realize until literally just now they were the same author)

Summary: Akane is in a time loop of the first episode, and she has gotten the art of cracking Ranma's egg and romancing her down pat. Only one issue... it seems like this loop, Ranma has foreknowledge of her own?

Thoughts: A one-shot, and a damn good one. This is such a fun twist on a time loop story, and if you enjoy Ranma/Akane in a very lesbian way, this fic is like a delicious dessert.

"Trying Something a Little Different" by NobleHeroine (Wait seriously? This is not a gag I genuinely am flummoxed)

Summary: Sequel to a one-shot, this starts with Ranma only being out to Akane, staying in the gender closet with everyone else. It becomes clear why, with the way her parents treat her just for being in her red-haired form more often

Thoughts: Another one that is currently updating, don't want to spoil it but this fic also has another character having her egg cracked and hot damn I love it. This fic focuses a lot on the way Ranma's parents have fucked her up and actively continue to make her overcoming the mindset she's been stuck in for so long so difficult for Ranma

There was another fic I was quite enjoying, but the most recent few chapters went in a direction I wasn't loving

Reading all of this has given me an idea for a trans girl Ranma one-shot of my own, but with all the fics on my plate already, who knows when it will come out
