Box Office Policies for a SOLD OUT run!
The PLT has made department history! For the first time in many years, the summer musical is sold out before the 4th of July! Many times you hear that a production is sold out, and then when you attend the performance... you make note of empty seats. You think to yourself, “Why are there empty seats when I was told the performance was sold out?” Every time you attend a PLT production, we have secured and purchased the performance rights to a show. The details of a theatrical license may include whether the production is amateur or professional, the price of tickets, the size of the venue, the financing of the production, and the location of the production. Some publishers offer special licenses for performances at festivals or competitions. More importantly, theatre publishers can put seating restrictions in performance license contracts. The PLT theatrical license with Disney and Music Theatre International, the publisher who holds the performance rights to The Little Mermaid, have in place seating restrictions for our production. The PLT seats 242 patrons total, and for The Little Mermaid, we are bound by our contract to seat only 190 patrons. That’s 52 seats in the PLT that will be empty at performances. We are not seating in the balcony which is 39 seats, and the remaining 13 seats in section 4 due to obstructed viewing because of the set design. Patrons looking to purchase tickets can call the box office to check for released seats. They are sold on a first come; first serve basis. Patrons can also volunteer to usher for a performance. Usher seating is not guaranteed, but you’ll see the show for free. Ushers are asked to arrive 60 minutes prior to a performance, and wear business casual attire. Call or stop by the box office, (815) 836-5500 to sign-up to usher. Starting one hour prior to a sold out performance, our box office staff will begin a waiting list. At 15 minutes prior to showtime, in the event of last-minute cancellations or no-shows, and at the discretion of the management, tickets may be released and given to patrons on the waiting list with priority given to current subscribers. The box office does not take waiting list names over the phone; you must arrive in person to sign up. The box office open 60 minutes prior to scheduled performances. We cannot guarantee that seats will become available, but we will do our best to accommodate you.
