Hasn't Inoue Kazuki always been a pinnacle of calm?

Why else would his father care, hm?

Kazuki's strength lies in the stiffness of his arms and the frozen silence of his resolve. An avalanche is eerily silent until it gets close enough for it to be too late, wind howls only through crevices and right angles, and no death is as quiet as the one experienced all on your own, buried beneath the very earth, suffocating on the air you expel.

Calm and resolute, like the earth. Changing only in millennia, like the earth.

Ruthless and unforgiving, like the earth.

But whenever he's forced to face her, he becomes both the cave and the explorer. The earth is resolute and ancient, it is his job to stand somewhere and keep an eye for the movements surrounding his father, all for the pretense of his father not being perfectly aware himself of how he's been played and where the blades pointed at his back are being drawn from.

That was the idea. He's no guard, no heir, no student, no teacher, he doesn't hold his father's arm to help him stand or walk, he doesn't collect his belongings, he doesn't stand for him in meetings.

He's no more than a dog trained to be very quiet, very still.

Because dogs that bark don't bite.

And he never barks.

Then, comes her, and suddenly his father's pretense is no longer a pretense. She reeks of bad ideas, there's a glint in his eyes that threatens to blind him, suffocates him with the promise of escape from a crevice thousands of miles under the ground.

He sees the light in her eyes and knows it's not the surface, but a bubble of rock in the middle of a cavern, with no way through and no way back, where every breath he takes slowly kills him because there is nothing there to filter his own foolishness out of his surroundings.

There, she is, and his father's pretending fades into non-existence and Kazuki thinks he's above it, finally. Here comes an opportunity, something she's not allowed to know so long as his skin moves strange where it wraps around her scar on him, the opportunity to prove himself as more than a loyal lap dog.

But he's a cave explorer.

Gone spelunking too far.

No, there's not a 'little annihilation' between them. She's the rock pressing into his Floyd Collins, Neil Moss.

There's nothing left between them. If annihilation was all she brought, she'd be easier to deal with.

But she brings... too much more.

His fists flex at his sides. He doesn't know if he wants to strangle her or...

"You always look like you're having fun," he breathes out. Knowing English isn't even all that much a requirement around here. Does he often try to over-achieve?

To answer that question, answer this one: is he mad? Insane? Deranged?

A little lot worse than he intends to be?

"It's time to feed him" She tells him, and then playfully shoves him towards the bedroom. "Go change for dinner, and once he's asleep, I'll show that you're still my favorite boy in this house"

Bobby knows she's teasing, but he can't help and feel a wave of triumph. Before going to the bedroom, he presses a kiss to her smooth neck skin.

And thus I believe firmly that when you've had a bad day, he knows immediately. The second you walk through the door, he can sense that something is wrong.

He will stop whatever he is doing (he's actually accidentally let things burn in the oven before) to come over to you and ask what's going on

And if you're not really in the talking mood, he's good with that too

He won't prod, he won't press for details, he'll only ask what he can do to help

If you want time to yourself he'll 100% respect that. He'll leave you be and go back to whatever he was doing before you got home, probably making dinner or doing some other odd chore here and there. When it's time for dinner he'll bring it to you and you'll eat together in bed if you're up for it

If you want company he's totally up for that. Even if you don't want to talk, he'll sit with you, hold your hand, run fingers through your hair, let you cry if you need to. Every once in a while he'll check-in and ask if you feel up to talking.

If you want to talk, Peeta is a great listener. He will let you rant and vent as looooooong as you need to. He won't interrupt until you're done and he'll hold your hand the entire time.

If you want advice, I have a feeling that he's not the greatest at that sometimes? I feel like sometimes he mentally lives in a world that's very optimistic and sunshine-y, so sometimes he thinks problems can be solved wayyyy easier than they actually can be. But his overall message is that he is there for you 100% and he will be there to support you through whatever.

Walking through the bustling streets of Philadelphia, Hanzou was greeted with the warm autumn air which brushed by his hair. His eyes closed, enjoying the satisfying crunch of leaves under his shoes. Hanzou sighed, his eyes opening with the sight of crowds of flowers in front of him.

His eyes narrowed as he scanned the stunning bouquets, the soft texture of roses calling his name. Cliché, but it worked!

Finalising his decision, Hanzou walked through the entrance of the flower shop, the calming aroma of flowers practically dragging him inside as he stopped infront of the cashier, who smiled back at the boy.

"Well hello there lovely! Welcome to my shop!" The old lady chuckled as Hanzou waved back.

Blinking, Hanzou quickly walked over to the bouquet of roses, carrying it back over to the old lady.

You looked up at his dark eyes, a tired giggle escaping his covered mouth, before presenting you with a bouquet of roses. Soaking wet, dirty, roses, which notherless shone before you.

He got down on one knee, pulling out his arm to give the bouquet to you.

In a weak yet goofy voice, he said "Y'know Y/N, are you a vacuum, what do you do for a living?~" He asked with a raised brow.

You stared at him, processing the comment, laughing at his antics, lightly slapping his cheek.

"Oh get up!" You jeered. "That doesn't even make sense!"

Taking the bouquet, your eyes scanned Hanzou's brusied frame, he was practically shaking.

"Lemme patch you up." You mumbled, heading upstairs with Hanzou limping behind you.

Hanzou's mask lay on the bedsheets, his head buried in your neck, breathing gently as you applied a bandage to his skin. Seeing his tired eyes, you frowned, kissing the bandaged wound, a giggle coming from Hanzou.

You rubbed his forehead, applying the last bandage as he wrapped his hand around your waist.

"Happy..Birthday.." He breathed out, voice even weaker than before.

You kissed his forehead, smiling at his sleeping state.

"Thank you."
