REALISATION
Tumblr media
summary: mattheo and y/n are enemies, but he has a nightmare that makes his realise he loves her.
⚠️: death, crying, confessions, fluff
Pink: y/n | Red: mattheo.
Monday Morning.
Voices echoed around the room. The voices were heard in front of him, behind him, but not beside him. For the first time in three years, her seat remained empty, chair tucked under the desk- Just like she left it. Mattheo felt odd not having her there, but slowly, he shrugged it off, convincing himself that she’d show up any second.
The class dragged on, the doors opened and closed, but she never walked in. It was like this for the rest of the day, no one had seen her.
His overthinking won and his anxiety set in, the echo of his footsteps following him down the quiet hallways. With a mumble of the password, the doors swung open, allowing him access. The curly haired boy wasted no time in hurrying up those steps, rushing toward her bedroom. His veiny hand clutches onto the handle, knees buckling once his dark eyes spot her limp body lying in a pool of her own blood.
The whole world stops, and he feels a shooting pain coarse throughout his entire body, heart shattering into a million pieces, every ounce of happiness he possessed fading away.
People arrived and he somehow gained the strength to get up, stumbling toward the phone booth, tears streaming down his face as he dialled in her mothers number. Her sweet voice was heard on the other side, sounding just like y/n’s. He felt his heart break all over again, as this mother cried on the other side of the phone, repeatedly asking for him to be joking.
Mrs Drew, y/n’s mother, choked on her cries as she informed Mattheo about y/n’s feelings for him. She was in love with him. That’s all it took for him to fully break down, knees dropping to the floor, loud sobs filling the booth.
“I’m so sorry!” The boy cried, begging for her mothers forgiveness. She cried back, telling him never to apologise.
Monday Morning.
The great hall doors sprung open, slamming into the walls. Everybody turned to look, watching as Mattheo Riddles dark eyes scanned the crowded room. Y/n stared at the man who hated her, noticing a change in his demeanour. Today, he didn’t seem unbothered like usual, he actually seemed to be very bothered.
Once their eyes locked, he smiled, a sweet, genuine smile, one that made butterflies swarm her stomach. Her cheeks flushed red, a smile she couldn’t hide forming across her nervous face. Mattheo Riddle walked down from the doors, heading toward her. She watched, eyes following his figure, melting when his hand cupped her cheek.
Mattheo pulled her up from her chair, holding her gently, leaning in until their lips smashed together. Everything changed in that moment, there was no more darkness, it was colourful. The two felt their souls had finally come together, accepting that their meant for each other.
She pulled away from his touch, quick to question what was going on. That’s when he confessed to not only her, but the whole of Hogwarts too. “Y/n, I’m so in love with you.” He told her, holding her so tightly, too afraid to let go.
The girl giggled before him, making his heart do a backflip.
A/N; this is my first fluff, no hate pls 😂😂 also, i haven’t gone over it bc I’m too lazy n half asleep so, ignore any spelling mistakes! thank you for all the support, i love you all.

Tumblr media
an unfamiliar face, one that you hadn’t seen in all your years of living in this small town. not only unfamiliar, but unusual the bright red of her eyes shone under the dim light of the bar she leaned against. you wondered why one would come here wearing red contacts of all things, or come here in general.  no one ever moved here, everyone was always longing to leave, this town where everyone knew each other, this town where nothing good ever occurred. this town that tourists avoided, this town that everyone in south korea avoided, this haunted town that you grew up in.
you usually never came to places like these, never liking the loud music nor the sweaty bodies that would come into contact with you. but today was your birthday, and not allowing you to stay home and watch netflix for this event. your friends had dragged you out of your apartment, forcing you to go out clubbing with them. usually you’d deny them, but tonight they had been much more insistent and you eventually caved.
“who is she? i’ve never seen her before.” you elbowed your friend, gesturing your head towards the unfamiliar girl.
your friend, hyewon, responded with a shrug of her shoulders. she had never seen this girl, never in this club and never out of this club. “why? wanna take her home?” hyewon teased. when you didn't respond, only flushed her eyes widened.
“actually?!” with this newfound information she rushed over to your other friends and relayed the information.
they all started cheering, minju pushing you in the girls direction, knowing you’d never make a move. much to your luck, minju’s push had been hard enough to send you falling over in front of her. the mysterious girl, seeing this quickly reached out and caught you in her arms.
“falling for me already?” she asked, a cheeky smile spread on her beautiful face. you couldn't help but take a moment to roam your eyes over her face, taking in her beauty.
“s-sorry,” you stuttered out, quickly breaking free of her arms and standing straight on your own two feet.
you tried not to, but the challenge of keeping your eyes on hers and not her cute duck lips was proving to be an issue. reading her lips but not registering her voice let out an ‘it’s all good’. you couldn't help the blush on your face at the way her lips would stick out when she spoke. you wondered how they’d feel on your own.
seeing that your gaze was fixed on her lips she let out a chuckle “can i get you a drink?” she questioned. with your gaze still on her lips, imagining them dragging along your skin you nodded. “my eyes aren't that low, you know.” she said, a smug smirk on her face. you immediately lowered your gaze to the floor as you grew even redder. who was this girl and how was she invoking this unfamiliar feeling in you?
she grabbed your chin, tilting your head up, your eyes now meeting hers. she slowly leaned in, her lips meeting your waiting ones. unlike all your other ones, this kiss wasn't at all soft nor slow. It was fast, messy and desperate. her hands roaming your body before settling on your ass, squeezing, eliciting a moan from you. she took this moan as an opportunity to have her tongue enter your mouth, exploring the depths of it. you could taste the cherry of her chapstick and the faint taste of whiskey that lingered in her mouth, no doubt from her previous drink. you were never one to have one night stands, in fact this was going to be your first one. you much rather preferred to be in a stable relationship before having sex. but something about this girl made you want to give yourself up to her.
“let’s go to your place?” she asked, breaking away from the kiss to talk.
“okay, let me just go get my things then we can go.” with one last kiss she let go of you, to walk back over to where your friends were to get your purse.
“uh guys i'm gonna go now, kay?” minju whistled hearing this, the rest of them cheering and making comments on what you were gonna do. you rolled your eyes and walked back over to the girl whose name you realized you still didn't know.
“im y/n” you said, finally introducing yourself after you told the taxi driver your address. “yena.” she said before pulling you onto her lap and reattaching her lips to yours. the drive to your house went by in a blur, you two spending the whole time making out and groping each other. you two entered your house in the same manner, you struggling to punch the code in while she kissed your neck from behind.
you led her to your room, her lips not leaving yours for a second. when you reached the foot of your bed she pushed you onto it, then crawled on top of you, settling on your abdomen. she leaned down and began biting and sucking at your skin, maybe if you had been a bit more sober you would have questioned the stinging pain in your neck. how she stayed at the same spot on your neck for a bit too long. but alas you didn't think twice about why there was a sudden pain in your neck, her hands that were massaging your breasts thoroughly distracting you.
she stopped for a moment, ridding you of all your clothes before going to your chest to start her sucking and licking there. maybe if you paid more attention, you’d have found it weird that she never undressed. but the way she circled her tongue around your nipple, not a thought was able to be formed in your mind. you couldn't focus on anything other than the wonders her tongue was doing.
“mmh y-yena, please.” you moaned out, desperately wishing for her to continue what she was doing except lower
“please what? tell me what you want, baby.” she said, coming up to plant a kiss on your lips
“p-please just fuck me already.” you whined out, tired of her teasing.
hearing this, a huge smile planted itself on yena’s face as she went lower and towards your bare pussy. she let out a breath, causing a shiver to erupt all throughout your body, pushing your hips into her face. she held your hips down and used both of her thumbs to open up your lips, getting a good look at your exposed pussy. she extended her tongue and licked a stripe up your core, stopping at your clit to suck. the moans that left your mouth consisted of curses of her name, you could just hope that your neighbors were out for the night.
she ate you out as if she had been starved for days, the way the wet muscle had entered and exited you bringing you closer to euphoria. you couldn't control the noises that exited your mouth if you wanted to, you didn't want to control them though. you wanted her to know that it was her who was making you feel this way. the way her tongue caressed your walls as she reached it farther than you thought it was possible for a tongue to reach was heavenly.
the same went for her though, your sweet taste on her tongue and the way you clenched around her was almost enough to get her off. your moans turned yena on more than she’d like to admit, your pretty voice screaming her name. feeling your walls tighten around her she reached a hand up to grab one of your breasts. she rolled your nipple in between her fingers and that was it for you. you couldn't hold it in any longer, letting go and cumming onto her tongue. she lapped up your juices, cleaning you up until you pushed her head away slightly, the pain of overstimulation catching up to you and outweighing the pleasure.
she got up from in between your legs and leaned down to kiss your lips, shoving her tongue into your mouth letting you get a taste of yourself. you let out a moan into her mouth as you sloppily kissed back, tired after what had just transpired between the two of you. when oxygen became a problem, she pulled away and laid down next to you. your eyes felt heavy, immediately falling into a deep slumber.
when you opened your eyes the next morning, she was gone. and so was any trace that she had ever been there. the hickeys she left on you being the only proof she was ever there, along with two mysterious holes on your neck. it looked almost as if you’d been bitten, by what you had no idea.
almost as if she never existed to begin with, after that night she was never to be seen again by you. from the shadows she had come and to the shadows she had returned.

Feel Better - Amnesia AU
So I’m working on my Behind Her Back fic, but today my angst side was kicking me stupid so I decided why the fuck not write something that probably won’t be that great. Know more about the AU from here, though some stuff is different, like Adam still remembers Lilith but as a bad person too.
@things-arent-what-they-seem66 @decentsoupperson @adambrainrot @talesfromawannabejournalist @kittenfangirl20 @cakerybakery
And read the tags first pls.
3, 2, 1, penguin.
Here you go my best
Adam was going to beat someone up.
He couldn’t decide who, but he was.
Be it that fucking servant who touched his guitar, that little devil spawn bimbo who thought now he’d be interested in her redemption bullshit because he fell to hell by mistake, heck a random demon at the streets, all would work. They were all fucking at the same low.
He turned around uncomfortably in bed to face the ceiling, it helped him keep his silence. A new way to say “I don’t want to be there” to that fuck face.
Oh right, he forgot about one demon who was beyond low. He would prefer having him as his target.
He growled at the thought, oh just how much he was willing to give just to have him on the ground punched and kicked to near death by Adam himself, where he fucking belongs, preferably with also three apples stuck to his throat and his dick cut off….
But of course, the only guy he wanted to fuck up more than any of those already filthy demons was also the only guy he couldn’t touch and was chained to.
He was fucking supposed to live with him instead. Just to have some protection as an angel in Hell.
The prick even thought that he was still fucking naive like he was back in the garden and would fall for his dumb tricks, still telling him that hilarious lie about how he loved him and having the balls to
Out of a sudden anger blast, he grabbed his lamp on the nightstand and threw it to one of the walls. He didn’t care if it drew any servants in the room, it wasn’t like they were coming because they cared.
He then turned around in bed and pulled the sheets on himself.
At least he was allowed to imagine it.
-
He didn’t know if he slept or not, but he sure was dragged out of his surprisingly great rest with a knock on the door.
He groaned, grabbed one of his pillows and threw it to the door harshly.
He squeezed his eyes shut again and buried his face on another pillow.
The knocking stopped for a minute before it returned, even a bit louder.
“You-!”
His eyes caught the clock and his voice died down in his throat, not because he got calmer though. If anything it made him even more pissed.
Right. Just about fucking time.
“Come in.”
He rolled in his bed once again, not caring to see who bothered. He already knew.
He heard heels clicking on the floor and felt a small weight on the bed, almost afraid to get close to him.
Lucifer fidgeted with his hands and hair nervously, staring at Adam’s still soft looking brown hair and beautiful wings.
He knew Adam hated these visits as much as he hated him and was going to ignore him all the way through. But, at least he had news to give that day. News he’d probably like.
And hey, at least he stopped yelling at him a few days ago. An improvement between them!
He was too delusional and desperate wasn’t he.
But he just couldn’t help himself. He simply had to be close to his Adam in some way. No matter what the man did or felt towards him, Lucifer was always drawn to him merely by his existence.
He missed the times Adam was to him, too…
A tear threatened to get out of his eye but he sniffed and wiped it away. He didn’t want to cry near Adam again, he knew he found it pussy-ish.
He then subconsciously brought that hand on his mouth and began biting his claws, looking around the room to find anything to start talking.
“Did you break that lamp?”
The first man didn’t answer, of course.
“Adam.?”
Adam turned around slightly and peeked a frustrated but pretty golden eye open.
“Yes. Are you going to fuckin’ punish me?”
“Of course not. It was ugly anyway, I should rather thank you.”
Adam shrugged and returned to his old position.
“Don’t.”
Lucifer’s heart broke a bit more, but he decided to keep his mood.
“Okay…”
He coughed little to his fist.
“Can I si-”
“You already do.”
“I can- Sit at somewhere else if you want or anything. If you want more space for yourself.”
Adam blew out some air secretly, he just wished him to stop asking questions.
He pointed at the floor.
Lucifer smiled hopefully and sat down, still near Adam.
He summoned the duck he was working on currently, along with its stuff.
He took a brush and began painting it’s wings, it was great to have the actual inspiration around when you were making a duck.
He began going about his day to Adam, starting with plain words only to continue with paragraphs. He talked about how Charlie’s exercises were mainly focused on trauma healing, how Angel Dust’s fuck head boss bothered with a visit during the breakfast, and of course how annoying Alastor was as usual.
Adam gritted his teeth and placed the pillow over his head when he heard the first words, but of course his new ears heard everything clearer than they should. The pillow barely blocked the annoying noise.
What did he had to do for Lucifer to get that he didn’t give a shit about his boring, generic, useless life? Should he just use his old yelling.?
No, that shit worked as much as his current silent treatment.
He truly just wanted to grab the twink’s neck and throw him out of the window.
Lucifer glanced at Adam’s head when he was done with the right wing, and decided now was the time to break the news he brought with himself and the ones he would actually care about.
“…Then the angels came to visit.”
The orchestra of swears and threats in Adam’s mind suddenly fell silent when the sentence was dropped in the middle of them.
Of course he’d keep important shit for last, just a delightful way to torment him.
..
But fuck didn’t he want to hear more.
Last time he’s seen them was when Sera came to demand Adam’s soul back, only for that cunt Lilith to chime in and say that it was impossible.
Both Sera and Adam hated to admit that she was right.
He hadn’t talked to or heard from them for months almost now. He didn’t even had any ideas what the angels were doing, or were they searching for a solution to his problem.
…But that still didn’t mean he was going to ask anything to just because he had news he wanted to know.
Lucifer smiled when he saw Adam’s hands loosen around the pillow, he wasn’t burying it to his ears anymore.
Good, he had his attention, at least.
“They decided to check Charlie’s hotel once again. Considering it officially works now, they apparently decided to make it more “Heaven-like”.”
He nonchalantly switched the brushes to add the reds on Adam’s wings.
Adam wanted to slap him and just tell him to get to important stuff and details. Like who came. Or if they..
“They didn’t tell or ask me anything much about you if you’re curious.”
Adam waited for him, then groaned on the inside when he remained silent.
Of course they didn’t tell him much about him, they weren’t going to reveal heaven’s secrets and plans of getting the first man back, to the devil and Adam’s maniac capturer.
Lucifer sneaked a peek at Adam, he could tell that he was dying to hear more just by looking at how stiff he was.
He decided to keep his silence for a while, he really wanted to hear Adam’s voice more that day.
He would tell him later if he was more stubborn than he looked.
Adam cursed himself on the inside, he was going to make him work for it wasn’t he?
He’s the ruler of hell for a reason, genius.
He breathed in sharply.
“What… Did….”
He wanted to bite his tongue and shut up but he managed.
“They say.”
Lucifer’s smile grew and he turned back to the duck, thinking what shade would reflect Adam’s eyes.
If he saw them…
“Just Sera wondered why you weren’t in the hotel.”
Adam gripped the sheets in much more anger and frustration when he heard his weak humming. He swore to God if he kept silently playing with that duck he would take it and shove it up his ass.
“And..?”
Shit, maybe Lucifer had went too far with the waits.
Adam sounded the angriest he ever were in days.
“And I, uh, told her that you didn’t want to be there and were at my mansion, but really missed her and the others. And asked for a meeting.”
He really hoped this would make him happier and see that Lucifer worked for him.
Okay, this made Adam a bit more at ease. But just a tiny bit.
Seeing angels, seeing real people would be way better than anything he had there.
And escaping Lucifer just for a while.
Lucifer glanced at him with the corner of his eye, and was more than happy when he saw that he at least wasn’t that angry.
He couldn’t actually get one, but still! Adam liked the idea so it was worth it.
“Anyway, that was all they said.”
Adam didn’t answer once again, but this time it was rather to think. And he surprisingly didn’t mind the way he talked much, it was more of a white noise.
Lucifer said a few more things before he fell silent once again, a stupid smile on his face.
He finally made Adam’s eyes perfectly, after his seventh try. He then began working on the little halo he was going to have, humming that melody Adam loved back then.
As time passed, a conflicting detail appeared out of nowhere in Adam’s his mind, he frowned when he thought about it.
Why wouldn’t the angels want to see him right when they were here? Was it because they were busy?
But “angels”. Not all of them could possibly be busy, and besides, they could at least inform him themselves. He wasn’t Lucifer’s kid or anything.
The thought really got under his skin and suddenly Lucifer’s humming was as annoying as a hundred flies buzzing.
Lucifer put the shiny little halo on top of the little duck and smiled proudly at his work.
Maybe he could give it to Adam at that moment, using how he was right now as a way to get a better reaction.
“A-“
Adam decided to let his walls go for a second, just to get more information he said to himself.
“When the fuck is it? The meeting?” He snarled out, even turning around a bit to look better at him.
Lucifer dropped the done toy he had in his hands.
“Uh…”
He quickly tried to think of a random date, but his mind didn’t work well just when he needed.
Adam noticed how panicked he was, of course.
“When the fuck is it. Lucifer.”
Lucifer gulped.
“It…”
Suddenly all the anger Adam had bottled inside him that day, coupled with a long lasting ten thousand years of rage and hatred found it’s way out. He almost jumped out of his little nest of blankets snd sat straighter, even scaring Lucifer.
“Let me guess, it doesn’t exist does it?!” He said with a maniacal smile.
His eyes only held negative emotions.
It split Lucifer’s heart into two.
“It-It does! I-” He tried desperately, just when he got Adam to-!
“Oh it does? Then why don’t you call Sera right now, so I can ask her, dear Lucifer?!”
“I can’t! She told me-”
Adam laughed painfully.
“She told you to, not fucking contract her? About me? And I’m supposed to believe that you fucking follow Heaven’s orders now?!”
Lucifer felt them coming back, just like Adam’s hatred.
“Look, I know, it doesn’t-”
Adam was sure his teeth were going to crack.
“Get out.”
He almost laughed once again at Lucifer’s crocodile tears, what a fucking bold of a demon he thought he was. He got up and Lucifer did too, holding onto the night stand.
The fallen angel tried to make them go away so badly, but it couldn’t be his priority at that moment as he decided. He raised his hands in an attempt to get him to listen him.
“Adam, listen. You’re right, it doesn’t exist, but-”
Adam tried to claw him but it phased through him, of course.
“BUT, WHAT?!”
Lucifer backed away a bit, still with a spark of hope.
“I just wanted to make you feel better! You’re-!”
Adam looked around to find something to take his anger out and he saw the little duck Lucifer was working on all the time.
It fucking looked like him.
He stomped on it in a swift movement, the duck let out a big quack before it popped under the weight of Adam’s hoof.
He made sure every part of it became flat before he let it go and returned to Lucifer’s frozen, teary, snake face.
“You fucking wanted me to feel better? You?”
Lucifer’s words died down in his throat. There were almost a puddle of tears under his feet.
“I-I…”
Adam chuckled.
“There is only one fucking way for you to manage that. To make me feel better, the slightest.”
Lucifer peeked his head up, still with a smidge of hope.
He hardly lost it when it came to Adam.
Adam pointed a finger directly to his chest, his eyes still burning with all his anger towards Lucifer.
“Going away and fucking killing yourself. The only worthy thing you can do for me and the whole fucking universe!”
That was the final hit he did to Lucifer’s heart and hopes. Even his tears stopped as he just looked up to Adam. Nothing else.
Adam’s blow of anger died down in as they simply stood there for a long minute. Just the blow, not the anger.
Adam decided to go back in his bed and ignore Lucifer, he wasn’t worth more of his anger.
He heard him slowly leave the room, but he cared even less than how much he did at the beginning.
Lucifer didn’t come to dinner he was supposed to have with Adam that evening.
He never missed them.
———
Hehe…
Whew. That was a long run.
Hope you liked it, been a while since I wrote anything.
And if your confused:
1: Adam doesn’t actively wants to kill Lucifer at this point. Sure he dreams of having him “as hurt as he was” but he doesn’t want him directly dead, yk? Just wants him to live what he went through. He didn’t think he’d actually do it either, he said it as just an insult. He’s said it before, and Lucifer didn’t do anything.
2: But this time he shattered Lucifer’s already broken and barely standing together heart into near micro places.
3: I know Adam’s outburst is a bit random, sorry. But he never got calm, and kind of used this as a way to let all his anger out, not just at the thing.
4: Lucifer respawns in his bed after a few days like a sinner, but he can’t die to angelic steel either, unlike one.

Bittersweet Findings, in that Order
A/N: WOW I’m sorry this took forever, school started back up and I’m already so swamped on the first day??? Like pls, stop. I don’t want to . At least I got to finish this! I’m so happy ughjfoivfihviowuh, I didn’t get to edit this so I’m sorry for any mistakes(All my writing has mistakes in it cause I don’t edit hard enough just post, whoops) But enjoy!! I hope you guys like the fluffy part two(: (AND THE CRAPPY BATTLE SCENE AIFAPIHVPI)
Pairing: Izuku Midoriya x Reader
20. “Wait a minute... Are you jealous?”
Part One
Tumblr media
Izuku Midoriya!: Part 2
As soon as Jiro had slammed the door you felt nauseous. If it wasn’t bad enough everyone would believe you were crushing on the blonde, your actual crush had heard everything. Izuku had heard everything, and well you were honestly scared. As far as you were able to tell, there didn’t seem to be much of a reaction on his end. The thought of him not caring had your heart squeezing painfully in your chest. You already knew deep down that you probably wouldn’t have much of a shot with one of the top three students of U.A. You were always hopeful, of course, but you never really thought it would go anywhere.
But that didn’t mean it hurt any less when you found out it wasn’t ever going to go anywhere.
Besides being in pain, you now also had to deal with the stresses of Bakugou. His emotions were always out on display, yet everyone who disagrees just doesn’t know where to look. His eyes may be intimidating at first glance, and that’s why everyone chose to look away. But if you stayed to look longer, you could clearly see everything he couldn’t convey into words out on the table. His emotions tonight however, when you locked eyes, caused such confusion in your mind. His eyes almost looked, dare you say, disappointed.
You wanted to believe it was due to the fact he didn’t like you, but that didn’t seem to be it. His disappointment was stemmed for another reason entirely and you couldn’t quite understand why. You knew the only way to solve it would be to just face him, and talk to him straight up. Even if it will be awkward, it’d be better to get the truth out to him now versus losing him in the sense of friendship and family. You were sure it would all blow over and no one would think twice about it once the school week began.
It was only Friday, and unfortunately you doubted you’d see much of Bakugou until then, just because he is awkward himself and most likely doesn’t know how to confront you about the ‘feelings’ you have. Which, you don’t.
Towards him anyways.
You thoughts were drifting off towards Izuku once more until Mina cleared her throat, desperate to break the tension that flooded the room.
“I swear, boys are such pigs. Listening in on a girls sleepover, don’t they have anything better to do.”
“Guess not,” Settling back on the floor, Jiro then wrapped herself in a blanket with her cheeks blazing, “I’m going to kill him when I see him next..”
“I’m sure it’ll be fine-” Momo glanced at you, “For the both of you. I’m sorry, we wouldn’t have said anything if we knew Bakugou was outside.”
“Yeah, at least dumbass probably didn’t realize who I was talking about, if he heard me that is.” Jiro sighed.
“Well it’s not that big of a deal because I don’t like Bakugou.” You shrugged.
“You don’t? I was so sure.” Mina grumbled, a hand on her chin as she began to think out loud-reminding you of the boy you truly liked.
Your chest tightened and you felt your face fall, the worried looks of the two on the ground confirmed it as they asked what was wrong.
“It’s just.. He was out there. He didn’t seem to care-I mean..” You huffed, annoyed at the pressure that began to build behind your eyes.
You didn’t want to cry, there was no reason to. He was just some silly crush, just another classmate, just Izuku.
But that was the thing, he was Izuku.
Izuku was everything you hoped to be and more. Strong, caring, enthusiastic, brave. He was an amazing hero, and you had no doubts that one day he will become the number one. He may not be a pro yet but he sure as hell had the guts to be.
“Wait if you don’t like Bakugou who’s he?”
“...Midoriya.”
The girls jaws dropped and the sight drew a tiny laugh from you.
“Babes you like Midoriya?” Mina slapped her hands over her cheeks, reminding you of that famous painting.
“Yea, I do.”
“It’s just, we didn’t expect that honestly.”
“You just don’t seem the type to like someone like him.” Kyoka rubbed her neck.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” You frowned.
“Nothing bad, I just meant that you two don’t really hang out too much. I’ve always seen you around Bakugou and Kirishima, I just never pictured you ‘d like Midoriya cause well-”
“He doesn’t seem like your type.” Mina cut her off, hoping she wouldn’t upset you.
You couldn’t be upset because you understood their questions, you really didn’t hang out with Izuku much. But that didn’t mean you didn’t like to hang out with him. You just got too nervous to ask to hang out more, when he didn’t seem to want to.
“I get it. It’s hard to talk to someone when they don’t want to talk to you back.” You sniffed, and didn’t even realize you were beginning to cry.
“Oh hun,” Mina wrapped her arms around you, “Midoriya looks up to you a lot!”
“Really? Why would he look up to me?”
“It’s true! Midoriya-kun is always talking about you and how he admires your strength, your battle tactics, and how smart you are!” Momo smiled, hoping to help sooth your worries.
Your tears were slow, maybe a tear here and there, but it was still more than anyone has ever seen you cry. You tried not to, you were too afraid to show such a raw emotion. Unlike Izuku, how was he so brave?
“Just because he ‘admires’ me, doesn’t mean he likes me. I’m sure he has no romantic feelings towards me whatsoever.”
“If he doesn’t like you then he’s tripping, who wouldn’t like you?”
“Exactly, Midoriya may not love anything as much as he loves AllMight-” That made the group laugh, “But that doesn’t mean he can’t like anyone else, meaning you.”
The hums of agreement were enough to stop your tears, and agree with them in hopes they would stop talking about it.
While you were thankful they were trying to reassure you, you really didn’t want to keep thinking about it.
You all agreed shortly after that going to bed would seem like the best option now, after the whole thing you guys felt pretty worn out. Making yourself comfortable on the bed next to Mina, you wished the two on the makeshift bed next to you a goodnight before everyone quickly nodded off.
Except you, you were finding it hard to fall asleep as you recall the events that happened over and over again in your head. It was hard, trying to convince yourself that Izuku could actually care about you in that sense. But you couldn’t, there was no way someone as talented as him could look up to you like they said, let alone like you in any other way than a classmate. No way someone as talented as him could feel that way, someone so positive, well-collected, and just outright outstanding.
You couldn’t hold a candle to someone like him.
These thoughts continued to plague your mind until you were too exhausted to think, finally falling into a sleepless slumber as your body felt cold and numb, even under all the blankets.
The entire weekend went by without seeing either boy, and it only caused your anxiety to grow. Was Bakugou ignoring you now? He really must have thought you had a crush on him, and you wished he would just talk to you so any awkwardness between the both of you would be over and done with. You just wanted things to go back to normal, which you hope would be easy enough if Bakugou would quit running away from you and let you talk.
When Monday rolled around you knew it was your chance to finally talk to the kid and tell him it was all a big misunderstanding. You headed to class early, hoping to catch him there since he was always the first in class. Thankfully you were right as always, walking into the classroom the only other person inside was Bakugou.
“Hey Bakugou, morning.” You greeted, walking over to his desk.
His eyes immediately snapped up to stare at you, his body going rigid the closer you got. He was silent, and the longer it stretched the more irritated you got.
“Don’t you know it’s rude to not greet someone back?”
“Look, (l/n)-”
“I don’t like you, stop being weird already!” You huffed at how uncharacteristic he was being.
You were taken aback by the look of surprise on his face, his eyes opening wide and mouth parted. It was funny to see such a look on his face so you snorted in amusement as your irritation wore off, effectively snapping him out of his daze. His face took on one you were used to seeing, narrowed eyes burning in annoyance and mouth set in a scowl.
“What?”
“The girls were teasing, and they just assumed it was you. So I’m sorry to say I don’t have those kinds of feelings for you, I hope your heart isn’t crushed too badly.” You joked.
“Shitty girl,” Bakugou ran a hand down his face and let out a deep sigh, “Don’t be such a pushover and tell them to shut the fuck up then.”
“You’re telling me not to be a pushover? What about you, quit being such a pervert. What were you doing out there anyways, peeping tom.”
“Oi watch it,” He clicked his tongue, shoulders relaxing as he leaned back in his chair, “no one was peeping at nothin’, and I sure as hell wouldn’t do some dumb shit like that. I was there to watch someone get their ass beat. Which was disappointing by the way, you losers didn’t do shit.”
“Well wait for sparring later today, I’ll make sure some ass gets kicked for your sake.”
A smile fell onto you face as a lazy smirk rose on his, and you felt peace fall over you. This was how it was supposed to be, friendly and natural. No one was avoiding anyone, no awkward atmosphere. Friends and nothing more.
The door opening caused you to look back, only for your peaceful air to disappear as you caught sight of curly locks. You watched his eyes dart away as he took his seat, and you felt your body grow cold like how it every time you thought about him.
Izuku swore he didn’t know how many times his heart could break, it must have been hitting double digits by now. As soon as he opened the door, he saw you looking at Bakugou who had some stupid smirk on his face. You two looked awfully chummy, you must have gotten together or something. The thought of you two together felt like a knife piercing his heart.
Along with the pain, some unknown feeling sparked up and it had him confused as well as angry. His eyes narrowed and he quickly turned his head away, heading to his seat. He ignored the sensation of your eyes on his back as he sat down, the rest of the students trickling in which acted as a great distraction. He was exhausted, not finding it easy to sleep lately. While he hadn’t cried again since that night, it didn’t mean the pain he felt was any less. The earlier feeling was now gone as he struggled to pay attention in class, listening to the normal general ed lectures until it was time for the hero training.
You were dismissed to put on your training uniforms then head out to the training grounds. Aizawa-sensei had met you there, giving the instructions of today’s session.
“It’s just regular one-on-one combat. Quirks allowed this time, but keep it in check. I don’t want to deal with it if you go overboard, so don’t force my hand to stop you. Got it? Good. Use this to immobilize your opponent. Here are the partners..”
You were handed white tape and made to select a piece of paper that had a match number your partner would share. You were paired with Ochaco, and she smiled brightly as you were the first team to spar.
You didn’t mind her, she was a lovely girl, but it was the fact she was so close to Izuku that had you a little wary of her. She admitted to you girls once that she used to have a big crush on Izuku throughout the first year of school, so how could you not be? It was a bit daunting overall, she was in the position you wanted to be in when it came to the boy. You wanted to be able to hang out with him more often and not have it be a weird occurrence to do so.
You both took your place across from each other and waited for the signal, jumping into action once it was given. As long as you didn’t let Uraraka touch you with her hands, you would be okay. So as soon as she lunged, you willed your body to jump away from her as you landed off towards the side. You played this cat and mouse for a bit, making sure to not get hit by any rocks she had happened to find and use as ammunition.
You managed to snag an opening and quickly knocked her off of her balance, pinning her to the ground on her front and quickly securing the tape around her wrists. Aizawa-sensei called it you win, and as the good sportsman you are, helped Uraraka up apologized for the rough landing. She laughed it off, saying it was an incentive to work harder to hope to catch you off guard and win next time.
Your eyes automatically searched for Izuku, as they always did, and much to your disappointment he wasn’t looking at you. He would normally give you a giant grin and a thumbs up, telling you his thoughts on the match once he had the chance to talk to you.
But now his gaze wasn’t nearly as happy as you remembered it to be, his brows were pinched and his normal smile was now pulled tight. His gaze was focused, heated one would say, staring straight at his own opponent. You missed his smile, you hadn’t seen it in a while. You were also curious as to why he ignored you all weekend and today, was he perhaps embarrassed about getting caught?
That had to be it, Izuku did get easily flustered or embarrassed, it might take him a bit before he could talk to you again. Which you didn’t like, but if that’s what he needed than you would be more than willing to give him that. Besides, he didn’t owe you anything.
It’s not as if you were dating, he didn’t even like you for goodness sake.
You turned away from the boy, hoping no one saw the hurt that flashed across your face. You turned your attention to focus on the remaining matches, getting a weird feeling when Izuku and Bakugou walked up to take their own places after a couple of battles.
Izuku felt his body heat up when Aizawa called him to his own spar, his partner already waiting. Green meeting red in a heated gaze, Izuku felt that unfamiliar emotions from early come back tenfold. What was just a spark is now a flame, burning hot. Once the signal to begin was announced, the rational thoughts left. All Izuku could focus on was the way his heart hurt, the way his chest burned, and the discontented eyes that stared right at him.
What did Bakugou have to be dissatisfied about? He had you didn’t he? He’s always been one step ahead of him, Izuku knew this. Since they were kids, it was always Bakugou. Bakugou in the lead, Bakugou with the quirk, the friends, the power, the strength. Why now, after so much work, why is Bakugou still so far ahead of him?
Midoriya and Bakugou dodged each other's blows swing after swing, the quirks not even being used at the moment. It was an even match for the most part, until Izuku saw Katsuki’s eyes flicker over towards the crowd, then back towards Izuku with a smirk and whispered;
“Wait a minute… Are you jealous? You should be.”
That’s when the last bit of self restraint snapped.
The fire now a blazing inferno as his teeth ground together harshly, allowing more than a bit of his quirk to seep into his hand as his fist made contact with Katsuki’s cheek. His head snapped to the side as he was unable to block or move, even countering seemed out of reach as the boy staggered back, clearly not expecting such a hard punch. Bakugou’s eyes hardened in anger as he finally began to use his own quirk, explosions going off to propel him forward with more speed and more strength.
Shouting and grunting was all that was heard from the two, besides the harsh sound of skin on skin. The two were going all out, and what surprised you the most wasn’t the look on Bakugou’s face, but how Izuku held the exact same look on his own. It was different to see him with such a smoldering look, as if he were upset at Bakugou for some reason. Which didn’t make sense to you, because while they weren’t the best of friends, Izuku was hardly-if ever-truly angry at Katsuki. You wondered if there was something that happened between the two of them to cause this type of behavior.
You gasped as you felt the intensity of their powers radiating off of them, it has been a while since you’ve seen Izuku battle with such a ferocity up close. You didn’t have the same work studies, so you hardly ever battled together on the field unless you were teamed up for one reason or another. So when you heard his loud cry, and saw energy coming off of his arm in large waves, you couldn’t help but worry. What was he doing battling so hard?
What was he trying to prove?
Izuku had everything to prove, he knew it. Even if he wasn’t sure why he did, he knew he had to. It was some instinct, some deep down feeling that once lay dormant had sprung to life and was gnawing at him till he listened. Well, he knew what that feeling was now he supposed, it was what Katsuki said-
He was jealous.
But he had to listen to it, to show that he was the better man, to show that he was worthy, that he wasn’t just some crybaby. That he too was a man, worthy of-
Well, worthy of you.
As quickly as he let his power spike did it drop, the power coursing through him ceasing as his closed fist still struck against his opponents jaw, just with less vigor. He felt Katsuki’s clenched hand strike his cheek harshly, yet no stinging explosion followed.
Both boys fell over from the force, and knew that they weren’t the ones to deactivate their quirks.
You looked over to the left and saw your teacher with glowing eyes, a hard stare on his tired face. He must’ve known things wouldn’t have ended well if he allowed the fight to continue.
“Were you two even trying to trap the other, what’s gotten into you. I thought you both overcame this age old spat and were getting along better. I’m disappointed. Get out of here and get cleaned up, now.”
Aizawa didn’t let his quirk drop until the two were walking away, in the opposite directions. One towards the locker room, and the other towards the bathrooms. He just sighed at the sight, clearly annoyed at having to stop the match.
“Next group, let’s go.”
Izuku’s hand banged against the locker door as he slammed it shut. Breathing heavy as he tried to still his racing heart, the pain in his body not registering as his adrenaline was way too high to allow it. It was an odd feeling, knowing you were in pain but unable to feel anything more than anger coursing through your veins. Was this how Katsuki always felt.
The thought of the boy alone sent another spike of jealousy through him, causing him to bite his lip as he glared at the ground.
“That was intense, are you okay?”
His head snapped up to meet your eyes, and his heart skipped a beat.
“(l-l/n)? What are you-”
“I asked Aizawa-sensei if I could check up on you, you guys were going at it pretty rough.” You said softly, not caring you were in the boys locker room.
While Izuku wanted to be thrilled at the idea you were worried about him, he couldn’t bring his body to cooperate.
“Why do you care?”
You were stunned, the annoyance on his face and in his voice catching you off guard. You were unsure of what you did to him, was he mad at you?
Izuku? Mad?
“Midoriya why wouldn’t I care about you? You’re my friend.” You swallowed your hurt at the word.
Little did you know Izuku did too.
“Friend, right.” He scoffed.
Izuku wanted to kick himself for speaking so rudely to you, but at the same time wanted nothing more than for you to go away.
You were a constant reminder after all, a reminder that he’d never be good enough.
Never be enough.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” You crossed your arms over your chest defensively, growing aggravated.
“Listen, shouldn’t you be with Bakugou.” He copied your stance, also turning his head away from you.
His eyes were narrowed, and eyebrows drawn together with a pout on his face. You thought he almost looked cute, if it weren’t for the snarky tone he was using. Plus, when did he start calling him Bakugou? Even after all this time, he never failed to call him Kaachan.
“Bakugou? Why would I be with Bakugou-”
“Oh cut the crap,” He let out a frustrated cry, hands weaving through his hair, “Look I get it, he’s better than me. That’s what you think-that’s what everyone thinks! I was probably overthinking it, I know I was. Why would you ever like me in the first place. God, I’m such an idiot! To think I’d ever have a chance with you! I want to be mad at you, but I can’t! It wasn’t your fault I got so attached, so into you, but you keep coming into my life and I can’t just forget you! Whether it’s a study session, a spar, a friendly mall trip! I hate it all, because all I do is feel these good-for-nothing butterflies and-and these stupid feelings!.. Just please, leave me alone…” He cried.
The tears in his eyes made him feel even more angry, as he desperately tried to wipe them away.
“I-I know I’ll never be what you want. It’s not me and I’ll be okay with it but I can’t, h-have you here constantly reminding me! I, I just can’t-” A sob escaped his mouth, “It hurts, because I’m just proving to you how inadequate I am.. How worthless, how stupid, hopeless, lousy I am and I-”
Your body froze at his confession, and you weren’t sure what to do. Sure, this is what you’ve wanted for a while now, but at what cost? The boy you were in love with was standing in front of your, crying his heart out, pouring out his insecurities. You reached a hand towards him only to have him back away from it.
“I’m never going to be as good as him. I’ll never be as strong, I’ll never have what it takes. I’m not that outgoing, I know I’m shy, and I’m okay with myself.. I don’t want to change who I am, but hearing you don’t like the type of person I am hurts (y/n), can’t you see what you’re doing to me?” Watery green eyes bore into your own.
“Izuku I don’t like Bakugou.”
“Don’t lie to me, why-why would you-”
“Izuku,” You grabbed his face, being wary of the bruise that was forming on his right cheekbone, “I like you. I always have. You are stronger and braver than anyone I know. I don’t know why you’d think I’d believe otherwise.. You’re so headstrong in battle, you are exactly how I want to be as a hero, and you don’t even need to try! You’re caring, compassionate, forgiving, loving, sweet, yet so brave, tough, unyielding, strong-willed, Izuku. You’re the most assertive person I have ever met… And, well you know how I feel about assertive people.”
You were whispering, tears in your own eyes but a smile on your lips nonetheless. It was beautiful to see his eyes widen with tears other than sadness, his frown softened into an unbelieving grin, to see such a lovestruck expression on his face.
A blush quickly formed underneath your hands, stutters spilling from his lips to form sentences.
“I-I, uh, you re-really mean that? You-er-you’re not lying t-to me?”
“When have I ever lied to you?”
“U-uh well.. Never.. But Kaachan was being-”
“Never. That’s right, plus when is Bakugou ever nice? He probably said whatever to make you angry, you know how he likes to egg you on. Don’t worry, I’ll kick his ass later,” You took a deep breath as you blurted out your next words, “I’m in love with you, Izuku Midoriya. Full on, unconditional love. And I don’t care if it’s too early because that’s how I feel. And while this may be crossing a line, I know that I will follow you anywhere, because I have the utmost faith in your abilities, in you. I love you, and I want to be with you. If you’ll have me.”
Your own blush spread across your face, growing more nervous the longer he took to answer. You began to retract your hands away from his face when his own slapped over yours, causing you to yelp in surprise.
“I-I-I LOVE YOU TOO AND W-WANT YOU TO BE MY G-G-G-GIRLFRIEND!” His eyes were squeezed shut, his entire body now red from embarrassment.
Your laugh made him crack one eye open, and he felt all his worries and fears fade. Gosh, how were you so beautiful?
“I would love to be your girlfriend Izuku, even if you are a big baby.”
He looked offended at your words, playfully clicking his tongue.
“Great cause uh, you don’t have the choice of saying no!” His chest puffed out, eyes set firm as he stared at you with an intense look.
“Oh?” You rose an eyebrow, watching as his strong-guy demeanor fell in an instant.
“N-no of course you can say no, um, i-if you really wanted to..”
“I don’t. You know, everything I said was true. I like you for who you are, not who you think I like. I need you to be you, and no one else. Baby and all.”
He bit his lip nervously, looking into your eyes as he squeezed your hands in his, bringing them down from his face to rest in between you both.
“I can do that.”
“I wouldn’t want you any other way.”
Hearing those words Izuku knew;
He was a crybaby.
But he was your crybaby, and that’s all that mattered to him.

Hi~ Long time no read haha, I honestly drop this story because my life became busier with college, and then I stopped watching the show as the plot lose my interest. Summary: Drama in Riverdale seems to never end, your home-life was a mess, your past was still hunting you, yet, breaking up with your boyfriend was the last straw that broke the camel’s back. How are you supposed to go through all the chaos that was coming? Are you going to keep pretending to be the normal nice girl? Or his your heart willing to reveal it’s true skin?
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Pairing: Jughead Jones x reader
Words: 4583
Note: English isn’t my first language, I deeply apologize for any mistake.
Disclaimer: Since I’m writing this as someone who doesn’t follow the current plot of the show, I’m unaware of the fandom’s situation, so I just want to clarify that this fic is only meant to entertain, it doesn’t hate or trash in any character, I still love the cast of the show so I’m not here with any negative vibes, pls keep it like this, I’ll try my best to write the most human, imperfect, mistake makers characters, you’re welcome not to read if you don’t like it, thanks y’all!
“Easy there, Hot Dog.” you said calming down the little dog that seemed overwhelmed by the presence of the beanie-less Jughead Jones III. “He’s family.” You added smirking at him, quite pleasant by the shock in his features.
Tall Boy started talking, dragging his attention from you to the man. “We heard your dad could have named names, but he didn’t.”
His eyes were on you just as he heard that, you just winked an eye to him.
“We wanted you to know, no matter what happens to him, however long he's gone, we've got your back.”
The serpents were all looking at him, some with decision and compromise, some with thankful welcoming eyes.
“This is yours… If you want it.” You mentioned, giving him a leather jacket with the Southside Serpents’ logo.
Your heart flattered as you saw him putting on the jack.
Good Lord, he’s hot.
No one could deny how good Jughead looked in that jacket, it suited him perfectly, he belonged to them. You looked at him, smiling as you with that quirky sparkle in his eyes, and he smiled to you slightly.
Like it was meant to be.
“Juggy?”
Snap.
That’s how you felt your world while you and the Jones kid both turn around to see a pretty blonde girl hiding her body behind the wall, confusion marked all over her face. It didn’t take you long to notice the state of her clothes.
His clothes too.
Oh.
Noticing the sudden mood in the air, Jughead spun around seeing at your figure with horror in his eyes.
“I think we might have interrupted something, gentlemen.” You said towards the group without looking at him. “We should leave.” You got down the stairs as you suggest the departure.
“Dismiss.” Ordered Tall Boy, everyone following you, as you became smaller and smaller with the distance.
You collapse in your homemade bed as you arrived at the Whyte Wrym, you’re staying in a little room at the second floor thanks to the fact that the manager owned FP a favor. You felt Hot Dog jumping by your side.
“Can you believe it Hot Dog?” you said looking at him incredulous. “I mean, yeah we waited because when we started to date we were too young to make that kind of things, but even tho, hell they have just been some months together.” You covered your face with your hands, memories of Jughead’s touch filling your mind.
He was so fucking good and lovely at bed.
And now all of that was in hands of the Cooper girl.
“Here comes the green-eye monster Hottie.” You announced looking at the puppy. “How he dares forgetting me so easily? I’m glad we ruined their night.” You huffed crossing your arms.
As your head started to hurt you decided it was better to sleep than overthink. You cuddle as you could, embracing Hot Dog between your arms, closing your eyes hoping that the next day you would be blessed to avoid the beanie boy.
Successfully, you hadn’t see your ex for a week or so, apparently, he kept dumping classes to go to the northside, but who could blame him? With all this Archie’s father being shot and The Black Hood thing going on, it was pretty normal for him to be there.
If not, he was shut in the Red&Black newspaper office. It was kind of funny, yet kind of sad how you two would remain like strangers under the same roof, even if not so along you were soulmates.
With that being said, today was an odd day, you entered your class as normal, your presence shutting down everyone as usual, walked to your destined seat, in front of Toni, diagonal to Sweet Pea and beside Jughead. What?
You faced at your left being welcomed by those intense blue-greenish eyes that could make everyone in the room faint with a stare. You looked sights for a second, broke apart when the professor entered the room.
He started to talk, the class started to become noisier, making the teacher fight for the attention, it made you grew impatient at the idiotic attitude of your classmates. You harshly kicked the desk at your right startling everyone, the room fall in silence just a second later.
“Thank you, Miss Y/L/N.” said the professor continuing with the lecture, you nodded absently as you tried to focus on his words rather than the handsome boy next-desk that couldn’t keep look away from you.
The class kept the same pace you had managed to achieve, your mind spaced out as the clock’s tic-tac rhythm filled the room, making everyone count the seconds unconsciously. Distracting you from the pass of the time a little paper ball was throw to you from your left.
You opened cautiously, no bothering in turning around to see the paper’s owner.
“What was that?” was written in a small quick handwriting.
You furrowed your eyebrows crumpling the paper and throwing it away.
Just a few seconds later another paper ball landed in your desk. You sighed no bothering open it, you just set it aside.
A minute later it wasn’t a ball what arrived, it was a full paper plane with the words ‘Stop ignoring me’ written at a wing.
You opened it tired of the little game.
‘What was that?’
You rolled your eyes taking a pen answering. ‘What was what?’ you threw the paper at his direction not even looking, you could hear Toni chuckling behind you, well at least she was having fun.
The paper was with you a minute later, his plane form was built again.
‘Earlier you hit a desk, and everyone shut up.’
‘Yeah, you’re welcomed.’
You extended your arm to pass him the paper this time, your hands touched as he took it.
‘I owe you my life ;P but my question was why did they shut up because of you, they looked afraid.’
You couldn’t help but smile a little at the little face he drew in the paper. ‘Oh no, they weren’t afraid. Well, not at all, they just respect me. And lets just keep it like that.’
You looked at him finally, leaving the paper at his desk. “End of the conversation.” You said quietly, the bell ringing just a second later, you took your stuff and stormed out of the class before anyone else.
Jughead’s PoV
I sat at the canteen with the other serpents, my eyes instantly scanning the place to see a certain Y/H with Y/H/C.
“Where’s Y/N?” I asked as she was nowhere near to be seen.
“She doesn’t sit with us.” Said Sweet Pea bluntly.
I just throw a confused look to Toni.
“She just sits there.” She said calmly pointing out at her in a desk a little far away, all alone.
“What the hell?!” I felt by heart sinking in fear at her sight “You just let her sit alone?! The Ghoullies are gonna eat her alive!” as sudden as I said that the table broke in laughs.
Noticing my unbelieved face Toni faced me. “I kind of think she sits there to protect us.”
“How?” I asked as her answer didn’t make any sense.
“Well, she used to sit with us, but the Ghoullies did come to bother her even if we were with her, after that she started sitting alone.”
“The Ghoullies stopped coming, just focused on her.” Continued Fangs.
“Why?”
“Because she was Southside’s bookworm.” Answered Sweet Pea making me glared at him because of the nickname he has given to her.
“And even if we tried to help her she stopped us.” Fangs sighed as everyone else nodded.
“But now none of the Ghoullies has the guts to face her.” I looked up at Sweet Pea who was smirking at Y/N’s direction.
I arched a brow confused. “Are you kidding me?”
“No” said Toni smiling. “It’s true, it was awesome Jones. One day an idiotic asshole Ghoullie mentioned her family and threated her about hurting her cousin.”
“She exploded.” Fangs concluded with a glint of joy in his eyes.
“What do you mean?” I said gulping the anxiety out of my voice.
“She beat the hell out of him and his friends.” Sweet Pea nodded fondly at the memory.
“Sweet Pea had to stop her when she took the fire extinguisher.”
He nodded again. “I’m still curious about what she would have done with it.”
“That’s how she finished earning the respect of all the gang and the school.” Toni finished, all looking at Y/N’s desk where she ate an apple reading a little book in her other hand. “She looked so hot. The serpent’s loner wolf.”
“Riverdale’s Sweetheart.” Argued Fangs earning a glare from Toni.
“Southside’s bookworm.” Said SP taking part of the argument.
I felt my blood boiling at their comments. “That’s enough.” I scold them loudly dragging their attention to me. “Stop tagging her for God’s sake. She hates that. You can’t just classify her in a category you know? Y/N is just too unique to fit in one of those mundane descriptions.” I ranted taking my tray.
I leaved the serpent’s safe zone and proceeded to walk towards the girl with the serpent jacket and the book.
“Mind if I sit?” I said taking the seat in front of her.
“I actually mind, yes. But as always you’re just gonna do whatever you want.” She said not even looking at me.
I took a moment to appreciate her, with all the shit that has been going on the town, I hadn’t notice her subtle change, her makeup was just a smidge more notorious and rebellious, her hair was more wild, her soft face was now contrasted by her hard expression, her Serpent jacket embraced her body in all the right places, she emitted this new sensation of power and sassiness, even with the sweet glimpse that was still in her eyes.
“You know Jones? That look you’re strolling all over my body can be consider sexual harassment, jail won’t be seen good at your curriculum.” She said quietly, yet cold enough to freeze my train of thought.
I blushed furiously as she noticed it. “Sorry, it’s just… You look different.”
“I guess.” She muttered bluntly.
“It suits you.” I smirk at her slightly.
She looked at me for the first time in all the conversation. “Thanks.” Her eyes sunk down at her book again, I didn’t feel her blush, her voice didn’t stutter neither, her eyes didn’t look at mine with warm, unlike every time I used to compliment her, and it hurt me, the fact that she treated me like a stranger was slowly killing me.
“Y/N… Listen, I’m being honest. I don’t like our current status.” I said snatching her book to have her full attention.
“Oh, you mean ex-boyfriend and ex-girlfriend? Well I’m sorry it bothers you, but it wasn’t my decision.” She took the book away from me.
“I know… I know I hurt you and I’m sorry for that, I didn’t mean to screw up the things between us, but, can’t we just be friends? Please…”
She locked eyes at me, thinking quietly, she slowly began to open her book, ready to ignore me again. Being as fast as I could I took the book again this time my other hand has gripping her wrist.
She sighed. “I guess I could pretend to.” I could her the bluntness in her voice.
“Pretend?” I repeat quietly amused. “I was expecting something more real… Like a true friend, I need you here Y/N.”
“Well I’m sorry it’s disappointing to you but is the best I can offer you.”
“Why can’t we just be friends, like when we were kids… Come on, don’t you miss me…?” I hold her hand between mine, craving to feel her warming soft skin.
“No. We can’t.” She removed her hand from mine.
I silently cursed, her rejection hurting me down my soul.
“Why not?” I asked bitterly.
“Because friends don’t love each other like I love you. Because friends don’t crave for the touch and the kisses of the other. Because friends can be okay to see you with your girlfriend. But I can’t, I can’t be your friend because I’m in love with you, you idiot, I want to be your girl, I want to be your best friend, your confident, your person. But I’m not, so don’t ask me to be okay and be your friend. Because I can’t, I just can pretend to.”
I saw her eyes growing watery, but I didn’t say anything, I couldn’t react I didn’t know how, she has never talked to me so harshly. She blinked, stopping the tears from falling, she avoided my eyes and stood up, walking trough the door, leaving me there, with her book between my hands, in the cold lonely bench, in a cold lonely mess.
I saw the book’s cover, it was a little antique poem book we stole from the library some years ago, I flip the pages until end, there in the back face of the book, was a little photo attached with some tape, it was an old polaroid photo of us, with Tobias, the baby was in her arms giggling, I had my hands in her waist as I embraced her, she between my legs, her back leaning against my torso, I was looking at the camera with a faint smile, and she was…
She was looking at me…
I tighten my grip on the book as I exanimated her face, her pupils were slightly bigger, and her smile was little, but warmly breathtaking, her eyes were soft, I knew that expression, it was the same she put whenever she admire something, like an art piece, or when Tobias said his first word, I loved that expression, yet, I never knew…
She saw me like that.
My heart sunk as the realization that maybe, maybe all this time I never took a moment to realize those little things about her, and our relationship, and now it was too late to think of them, maybe…
Maybe I got too used to have her around, that I looked at her, but I didn’t see her.
Life has mastered the irony, as the loner boy was now the one to say hi, when he was the first to say bye, and the sweet girl refused to answer back as she tried hard not to fall apart.
I went to the Red&Black office to clear my mind, I took the local newspaper and my heart pound as a read the headline, a cryptograph from the Black Hood to solve? Sounds like a case for Sherlock Jones, I sat starting to analyze it when the creaking sound of the door caught my attention.
There she was, Y/N herself entering the office with Toni, some boxes in their hands.
“Oh, you’re here.” Toni said putting her box in the desk.
“Yeah… Hey have you seen the news?” I said looking at both.
Y/N just left her box next to Toni´s and stormed out of the room.
Toni looked at me with a scold on her face. “Did you do something to her?”
“W-What? No, she’s just… We’re in the middle of the ex’s war zone.”
“Ex?” She said widening her eyes.
“You didn’t know? I thought you knew her!” I replied mimicking her expression.
“And I do, but she never talked about her love life, I didn’t get to ask her neither.”
I sighed covering my face with my hands. “Don’t tell anyone.” I asked sternly.
“May I ask what happen?” She said raising a brow. “Like bro, who dumps a girl like Y/N? or what did she did for you to leave her. No wait, did she dumped you? That makes more sense.”
I looked at her, too tired to explain myself or to discuss, I just told her everything vaguely.
“So, Mrs. Pony Tail and you started to grow closer, you both develop feelings and she convinced you to try a relationship even tho she knew that you were Y/N’s everything.”
“No!” I yelled angry. “When you say it like that it sounds cruel.”
“And you really just left an almost three years, relationship like that. You’re easier than I thought Jones.”
I growled. “Thanks Toni.” I give her the newspaper changing the subject. “Wanna solved it together?”
She sighted looking at me, smirking faintly. “Hell yeah.”
Y/N’s PoV.
There was an awkward silence in the room, just the sound of the pencils on the paper or the flipping of the pages filling the mood.
I can’t really tell how I ended up in this situation, I just know that I gave up at Toni’s begging for me to join she and Jug to decipher the Black Hood’s code, but she never mentioned it was going to be at Jug’s trailer, neither she told me that Betty was coming too, although the pissed expression in her face makes me believe she had no idea.
The bright side of this was that Kevin had come too, I was so happy to see him that I just jumped into his arms when he noticed me, he was currently resting my back against mine as we helped each other to reach a comfort
“These symbols look so familiar to me.” Said Betty breaking the silence, catching all our attention. “It's like I've seen them before and it's driving me crazy I can't figure out where.” She added sounding frustrated.
“Maybe if you loosened your ponytail.” Said Toni bluntly. I facepalmed internally as I saw the offended faces of the Northsiders. “What? That was a joke, guys.” she cleared, yet it was already too late, I sight hearing Kevin’s indignation.
“Betty's ponytail is iconic and beyond reproach.”
“Kev. It's fine. And at this point, I'm willing to try anything.” Betty said loosening her ponytail as Toni said, being free from it.
I looked at her for a moment as the other returned to discuss the important matter of the night. Betty wasn’t a bad girl, not even close, yet I couldn’t help but be mad, she knew all my story with Jughead, every single fucking detail, and yet she didn’t even think about it when they started dating… But then again, I didn’t have any right in the Jones boy… He was free to fall in love and leave, so was Betty.
I heard vaguely part of their conversation as I started to feel dizzy, getting even sicker as I notice the tension in their voices, there was a war getting near, I could feel it.
“No, I mean like why, why is he killing people? Or at least, why now? We know the Hood's obsessed with cleansing the town of sinners and hypocrites, right? And he seems to be attacking anyone with ties to the Northside.” I tried to focus in Betty’s analysis as my head spun around.
“Here we go with the fake news again.” Said Toni getting in a defensive attitude, I slapped myself mentally finally waking up as I knew this wasn’t going to end well.
“Toni.” I said calmly looking at her. “Breath.”
“No! This Northsiders and their privilege. All you do is demonize the Southside so of course you think the Black Hood's from there.”
“It's not demonizing, Toni. It's stating facts.” Betty excused herself not helping Toni to calm down. “There's way more drugs and gangs.” The little Cooper continued, yet it didn’t take long for Toni to interpose.
“And the drugs you mean which were sold primarily to Northside crackheads? And what about the Northside Neo-Nazis?” Perfect, Archie´s little gang was now on the discussion. I looked at Kevin’s awkwardness, sharing the feeling, as we were the ones in the middle watching all the drama.
“The Red Circle?”
“The Red Psychos, you mean. Hell, Betty, I'm surprised you haven't just come out and said it yet.”
“Said what?”
“That you think the Black Hood's a Serpent. We all know how much you hate us.”
“Okay, Toni. I don't hate the Serpents.”
“Oh, yeah? Says the girl who stole a good friend’s boyfriend, mostly just as a whim than for love. Then, tell me why is it that your boyfriend here lies about the fact that he sits with us at lunch?” She ranted her breath getting heavy, I took her arm as I stood up.
“That’s enough Toni, we should go okay?” she scoffed taking her arm back from my grip but starting to gather her things.
“Yeah I’m gonna go too.” Said Kevin looking away from the situation. “Maybe I can walk you home.” He added looking at us, Toni just glared at him. “Or you can walk me home.” He muttered as we exit the trailer, making me chuckle a little.
I took a last glance at the quirky couple we had left behind, being slightly worried for the fight I knew we had caused.
I sighed shaking the thoughts from my head and I looked at Kevin. “Do you want me to take you home?”
“I don’t know, then you’re gonna be all alone walking in the middle of the night when you return.”
“Who said we were going to walk?” I smiled at him passing him a helmet.
He gasped at the sight of it and looked at me in disbelieve. “No way.”
I just laughed. “This way.” I said guiding him to where I had parked my motorcycle. “Beautiful right?” I said caressing the seat.
“Who would imagine little sweet Y/N in a beast like this?” He said amazed. “Boys most be head over heels for your bad girl version, right?”
“Just a smidge” I winked at him jokingly “Wanna do a bad boy version yourself?” I said sit think in the motorcycle “Come on lazy turtle, hop on.”
After dropping Kevin at his house, winning a worried glance from our local sheriff by the way -I guess laying to him didn’t help our relationship- I returned to the White Wrym ready to shut everything down and gain a good night of sleep.
-
Since the day after the “solve coding party” was Saturday you decided to help serving at the White Wrym thing you usually did whenever you got the time as a way to show gratitude for your little room and your food. Life was just easier like this, not worrying about anything or anyone, your only problem now was, ironically, Forsythe Pendleton Jughead Jones III. Screw him for interrupting your peace.
“What are you thinking about?” The voice of the pink haired serpent girl woke you up from your thoughts.
You looked at her for a straight second without saying anything as if you were still on a trance.
“Um.. . There’s a murderer on the loose, I have to finish my report before Monday and Hog Eye is running out of tequila” you listed as you cleaned some glasses from the place “There’s a lot to think about Toni”
She raised an eyebrow skeptical “Yeah… Sure… That includes Jughead Jones, am I right?”
“Not quite actually, but it does include the little war that was throw yesterday at his trailer” You looked at her putting a glass down and sighed “They’re not bad Toni, Betty is not just a basic mean girl… She’s nice”
“Are you really defending that white Northside girl? And after she stole your boyfriend?” She asked indignated.
You took a heavy breathe “Northsider or not, that doesn’t matter at all, she’s not bad, and I still appreciate her as a friend. Am I hurt? Yes. Am I angry? Yeah, a little bit. But Betty didn’t put a gun in Jones’ head, he could have said no, yet he didn’t, and is his right, and is her right to fall in love with whoever she wants… I believe in sorority and I can’t just judge her and shame her or hate her because of this… This things… They just happens sometimes. She’s not the bitch you think she is.”
Toni looked at the floor taking your words in, thoughtfully, maybe even a little ashame.
“But” you continued, smiling at her truthfully “I highly appreciate the fact that you like me enough to acknowledge and worry about my feelings, thank you Toni, for real, you’re a great friend” You took her hand squeezing it a little bit, she looked at you slightly surprised at this new face you had never show to her.
You didn’t saw, or heard about anyone from the other side of the own in the whole, it was just as usual as before everything in Riverdale started falling down.
And even if you felt comfortable with the mood, you couldn’t help but think it was a bit strange too, as you saw the moonlight walking down the rain, an uneasy feeling started forming on your gut. Maybe it had something to do with the serial killer on the loose, maybe.
You heard a spray paint can, the unique sound of the paint being ejected against the wall caught your attention, yet you didn’t look for the source, since that wasn’t unusual in this part of the town, you decided it was better to ignored it, but after hearing Archie’s voice you couldn’t help but turn around.
“You can’t just come here and tag our turf.” Said Sweet Pea with anger in his voice. “So why don’t you get your ass back to the Northside before someone gets hurt?” He snapped at Archie threatening.
“Get my way, or someone will be hurt” said Archie without a glimpse of fear in his voice.
“You just made a terrible mistake” you saw Sweet Pea taking his knife out of his pocket, your blood turned cold and you ran as fast ass you could.
“Sweet Pea! NO! Stop!” You yelled, your words trying to reach him. Yet your steps stopped abruptly as you saw with fear the gun Archie had in front of you three, as you heard his heartbroken, heavy, tired and paranoid voice screaming “Who made a mistake?!”
“What the hell?!” Was the last thing you heard from the pair of serpent that was there before they ran off, yet you didn’t run, looking straight into Archie’s eyes.
You watched him carefully as he put the weapon down, breathing heavily squeezing his knees.
You contemplated the big red circle on the wall for a minute “I’ll guess you need a ride” He looked at you saying nothing, still in shock.
“It’s been a long time” You commented as you stopped in front of Archie’s house “The last time I was here Jughead broke my heart” a bittersweet laugh scape from your lips but you shut it as you saw Archie’s uncomfortable expression.
“Sorry, that was something dumb to say” the blush in your face creeped as you apologized.
Archie nooded, not knowing what to say “Do you want to come in and dry yourself?” He asked with concerned seeing your wet dripping because of the rain.
You smiled at him feeling that little nostalgic warmth “Yes, yes please” he opened the door as you followed him, both of you oblivious of the worried blonde her next door.
“Veronica? I think you better come here, quick!” Said Betty, concerned following her trembling voice.
“Archie might cheat on you!” Was the last thing Veronica Lodge heard before hung up her phone.

Fractured (part one)
So I have fallen into another fandom! @mine-sara-sp‘s shadow people au is just so good though!
A while ago she posted a fic of a vexed Paladin and it got me thinking. This is where that thinking went.
TW: Blood, fighting, panic attacks (somewhat), manipulation
Part 1 // Part 2 // Part 3 // Epilogue
The morning sun had just risen over the horizon and everything was quiet for once on Hermitcraft. With the recent glow ups in New Hermitville – literally, there was glowstone everywhere now – not even the sound of zombies could be heard, allowing all hermits who thought to find the comfort of their beds to have a peaceful awakening.
At least, for most of the sleeping hermits on the server, this was the case. For Wels, not so much.
The buzzing of his communicator woke Wels from his peaceful sleep. Groaning, Wels rolled over in his bed and blearily groped for the infernal device. Rubbing his eyes, Wels’ eyes flicked over the main chat to the two personal message chats that were blowing up his communicator.
Personal message from GoodTimesWithScar

[Cub] … Wels I know youre awake answer me where are you
There goes his opportunity to pretend to be asleep. Grumbling, Wels rolled out of bed and began preparing for his day. He wasn't in the mood for anything in particular at the moment. If anything, he wanted to go back to sleep. Grabbing his tool set and weapons, Wels headed for the door. Yawning, he almost forgot to put on his armour before he left his mansion.
Shuddering at the memory of his last round trip flight, he quickly doubled back to grab the most important piece; the helmet. Looking at the rest of his armour set, he shrugged. Where he was going, and especially who he was going to meet, he wouldn't need any armour. Shrugging on his elytra, Wels jumped from the highest window in his mansion, gliding lazily towards the portal tower.
As he flew, Wels opened his communicator and idly flipped through the general chat, trying to pinpoint what needed to face his wrath for waking him up so early (the zombies weren't even burning yet!)

Any other day he would feel guilty for leaving the Concorp with their shadows. But today he was tired and feeling a tad bit petty. Landing before the portal, he shot a quick message into the chat.
[Wels] Tell them to meet me in the sand mesa temple. They know which
Not bothering to wait for a reply, Wels set his communicator on silent and strode into the portal, heading towards the 'meeting place'. Preoccupied as he was, Wels never saw the stray shadow on the floor that detached itself to follow after him.
~~~
Closing the door of the shadow temple, Wels began preparations to resummon Paladin. Reaching into the chest he had left, he pulled out an armour stand and climbed the podium, humming a sea shanty as he went. Placing the armour stand on the podium, he stepped back to make sure Paladin wasn't summoned quite that fast. He was not in the mood to deal with his ego today. Suddenly, he heard the door open and close behind him. That was fast. “Wait just a bit I’ll have your Shiny for you,” he yelled over his shoulder. Stepping forward, he prepared to summon Paladin and-
Wait. Keloid and Avarice don’t just, open and close doors. They smash them. The person behind him was not Keloid or Avarice. He turned-
and something slid across his throat, cutting off his breath.
Choking, Wels stumbled back, falling onto the stairs. Hands scrabbling at his throat, trying to close the wound, to breathe. Tilting his head to the side, he found an angle that let him breathe shallowly.
“Well, that wasn't what I intended, but it works great for my frustrations.”
Gasping, he looked up and met his bright blue eyed ambusher, idly tracing shapes in the air with its sword. Wels knew this shadow. He was so dead. Shakily, he drew his sword from his tool belt. His ambusher looked down at him through his visor and grinned, stalking forward.
“You think you can fight me as you are now? You make me laugh.” A snarl, and Apex was upon him, sword screeching against his own. Wels found himself struggling to push Apex away, to breathe, breath stolen in the face of a predator. “Good thing I need a laugh right now.”
Apex made a quick movement with its hand, sending Wels’ sword skittering up the stairs onto the podium. Wels barely managed to bring his arms up to block the next sword strike, wheezing in pain as it skittered off something hard. Pain ignored in the adrenaline, in the need to stay alive, Wels scrabbled backwards up the steps, forgetting his injuries, forgetting to breathe, anything to grab the precious sword that would give him a chance. Apex was advancing on him, he can't breathe, where is his sword?
His hand reached back, and he grabbed hold of something made of sticks.
His shadow bubbled, rising out of the floor to become 3D. Yellow eyes flickered open.
*Welsknight’s shadow has been summoned
Paladin stretched lazily, unaware of their surroundings. “Wels hey so about that death I...”
Apex stood before them, Wels on the floor at their feet. This was not normal. “What are you doing Apex?”
The shadow grinned at them lazily, sword in a resting position at their hip. “Why, just releasing some pent up frustrations on unsuspecting players. This doesn't concern you at all. Go back to those creatures you call shadows.”
They almost did. They didn't want to keep Keloid and Avarice waiting too long. But then they made the mistake of looking down.
Wels looked horrible. Paladin could see open wounds on his neck and arms, fresh from the fight. Wels’ breathing was shallow, but his eyes were hyper aware, shuddering between Apex and Paladin.
He looked cornered. Paladin took a step towards him, something tugging at the back of their mind. What was this emotion?
Apex snarled at them threateningly. “Are you challenging me little blacksmith? You’re nothing without your guard dogs following you.” Paladin’s shoulders hiked upwards at the nickname and they hissed in the way that Keloid and Avarice would when angry. Apex flinched at the noise, stabbing their sword downwards towards the floor to mask it, Wels’ whimper of pain going unnoticed in the tension. “You can fight me if you want blacksmith. But I’m not afraid of you.” The sword came back up to point at Paladin’s exposed chest. “You are nothing without those vex, and I will end you.”
They couldn't take those insults to his ability. Their ego did not want to allow it. But Paladin had survived this long with fewer deaths than expected because they knew when to quit. This was not a fight they could win, even if the pulsing knot in their chest rebelled. They stepped away from Wels.
Apex grinned, yellow smile flashing through the impossible corners of the temple. “Smart choice.” They moved, and Paladin’s eyes trailed downwards, locking onto Wels’ panicked ones. The knot in their chest grew tighter-
And in one stroke, they had grabbed a sword from the floor and stabbed Apex through the back with it.
Apex snarled in surprise, whirling around to face them. A clashing screech, and they were locked in combat. Paladin could see Wels dragging himself away from the corner of their eye and a strange relief filled them. Giving a threatening hiss-chirp back, blocked Apex’s blows, looking for an opening to exploit as their training with Wels kicked in.
Parry, parry, thrust, parry, parry, thrust
The rhythm kept them in the fight, preventing Apex from advancing while also retaliating. So it came as a surprise when Apex suddenly twisted its wrist and sent their sword flying to the opposite side of the room. Not wasting a beat, Apex leapt at them, sword swinging in a large arc that sliced across their neck. Paladin staggered backwards at the pain, only barely moving their head to the side to avoid a sword in their skull, sending a straight gash of light across their face. They click-snarled at Apex, whose grin only turned more predatory.
The next swing was intercepted by an axe, followed by a pickaxe which sliced across their chest. Apex barely stumbled as they charged forward yet again, pinning Paladin’s off-handed axe to the floor with one hand. Raising a foot, it was brought down with a snap!, breaking the weapon. A pickaxe at its shoulder brought their attention back to Paladin, and the cycle began anew.
Parry, parry, parRY, PARRY, PARRY
Slices on their arms, light and triangular particles spinning away. Paladin could feel panic start to settle deep in their bones as they fought. They had barely managed to keep themselves between Wels and Apex, but they knew this was a losing fight. A pickaxe was never meant to be a strong weapon against a sword, but they were determined. The knot in their chest would be too painful to bear otherwise they knew. They kept swinging and parrying, what choice did they have?
There is one choice for you dark one.
Bells and tinkling laughter. They knew who this was. The world around them paused, glowing a light blue like a badly rendered photo. They closed their eyes.
The sound of wings, of bells and tinkling laughter grew nearer. The intense sensation of being watched crawled beneath their skin, but they stood firm. They were made for the spotlight, it did not scare them one bit. Not even as the Vex arrived to speak to them again.
We can help you dark one. All you need to do is make a deal.
Keloid and Avarice had warned them more than enough for them to know that this was a bad idea. They snarl-growled at the unseeable entity before them. “No. Haven't I said this enough times? Go away.”
Ah, but you need help don’t you? Look at your summoner, so weak and fragile. We know that he won’t last once you go down.
That made Paladin falter slightly. “But he’ll respawn!”
Humming. But what if this time he doesn't? What then dark one, what then?
They were not thinking straight, they knew that, knew it in the shaking of their hands and the rush of adrenaline, the cold in their bones and the knot in their chest- no, the emotions in their chest that they didn't understand, emotions for their summoner; care? worry? They didn't know, everything was going so wrong-
Calm dark one. We can help. All you need to do, is ASK.
Paladin considered, actually thought about what was being offered. They needed help, they knew. They also knew that the Vex were strong and ancient. But the warnings…
“If I ask for your help, I want to know what I’m getting into first. No sneaky dealings of any sort.”
Laughing bells. If you insist. All we want is a chance to make a deal with your summoner. You will be the conduit to bring him to us.
“And if I don’t?”
You both won’t have a choice. One way or another we will find you.
Paladin ducked their head, opening yellow eyes to glance sideways at Wels. The man had pulled himself to a column. His shirt was ripped, used as makeshift bandages. Red. So much red. They made their decision.
“Alright, I’ll take your deal. Help me.”
Shattering music notes. What do you want us to give you, dark one?
There was no hesitation, the words drawn upwards out from him. “Power. I’ve been the damsel for long enough. Give me the power to protect my family.” They would have hesitated more, but that glance at Wels earlier had solidified a fiery resolve. They wanted to protect their family, and that included Wels whether he liked it or not.
Tinkling glass shards mixed with laughter as power stabbed its way into Paladin. Of course. Now, wake and face your opponent dark one, and remember our deal.
The blue fog faded, the staring spotlights died, the glass was swept away. It was as if the Vex were never there. But Paladin could feel the power rising in their chest, competing with guilt and worry and panic. With a roar, they released it into the air.
Apex stumbled backwards, the roar resonating through memories of darkness, birds, blue. Its grin became more of a grimace as they launched itself at Paladin again, only to be stopped by a sword. Where had they-?
Looking around, Apex noticed the glowing blue gauntlets floating in the air around Paladin. The gauntlets moved quickly, each hand grabbing the closest weapon. A blue cloak of the same colour had spawned out of nowhere and draped upon Paladin’s shoulders. Apex’s grimace flipped back into a feral grin. This was what a real challenge looked like.
They sprung into action, hacking away at each weaponed hand. With every hand that fell, another took its place. Every hit that did land bounced off the hard plating of the seemingly cloth-made cloak. But it soon began to tire, invisible strings softening its blows. No one else on the server had kept up with it this long, not even Killjoy. But shadows didn't tire, someone must be helping Paladin. Looking up, Apex met Paladin’s angered glare. But that didn't faze them at all.
What did faze them was the softly glowing blue streaks where they had sliced Paladin earlier. Apex hissed. Vex. That's where the blacksmith’s help had come from. They shuddered as the invisible threads cut deeper. Now that it knew what to look for, they could feel the Vex on its shoulders, weighing it down. It was time to cut their losses.
Apex faked a lunge at Paladin, taking the split second of Paladin being off-balance to make a run for the door. Turning back inside the doorframe, Apex took in the scene they had left. Red on the floor, pillars sliced into, Paladin running towards them.
And Wels was finally open. Apex grinned. Mechanically, they raised their arm, bringing out Biffa’s spare iron sword and threw it, slamming the door behind them.
Paladin howled, jumping to grab the sword. They knew they were too far away, but something carried their momentum forward and they grabbed the sword out of the air, tumbling onto the steps of the podium. They could feel the cloak folding behind them as it smoothed back out from whatever form it took. In that moment, all Paladin could do was breathe.
“Pal-adi-n?” The halting gasp of their name brought them back to the source of their current problem. Prying themselves off the floor, they hurried to Wels’ side, checking on his wounds. Wels was more concerned about other things, physically recoiling at the sight of the blue scars.
“Wha- di-you do?” The question came out gurgled, but understandable. Paladin could only helplessly reach for their summoner, voice pleading for understanding.
“I made a mistake so I could save you.”
Wels seemed to understand, allowing Paladin close to check on him even as fear swam in his eyes. “Vex” he hissed, before coughing painfully into Paladin’s chest. Paladin chirped soothingly as Avarice always did for them, even as the now known panic rose up yet again. Wels was in no condition to move right now. They could look for help, but what if Apex came back? They could try Wels’ communicator, but they had no idea which temple this was. They could be anywhere! What to do what to do what to do
A pricking in their arm brought them back to reality, grounding them. They cooed at Wels in confusion; they could sense no danger here.
Until they saw the lone Vex mob, sitting on the centre podium where shadows were summoned. It cocked its head at the bloodied knights below them, grin permanently stretched wide.
We told you we would find you. Tinkling bells, shattering laughter, a hundred gazes combined as one.
It's time to fulfill your end of the deal.
Blue particles, broken bells, the room bathed in a blue-purple glow as the knights held tight to each other; one protectively and one in fear. The bell tolled.
Not minutes later, Keloid and Avarice burst down the door to find the temple empty, clean of all signs of struggle and missing two fractured knights.
Winry closed her eyes for a moment and peeked through the glass door again. Was she really seeing correctly? Ed? Talking with Mei Chang? Alone, without Al? What was he doing with her? There was no mistaking him, though; she could clearly see his long golden mane, the crutches in his hands and the cast in his left leg.
She knew they hadn’t seen her yet and tried to figure out how to get out of the arena without being noticed. If she just marched out there and asked what was going on, she would probably get to hear a bunch of lies, making the situation even worse. Still, she couldn’t stand behind the door either; people were coming in and out, and she’d get caught staring. She decided to use another exit on the other side of the arena, casting one last look towards the door before biting her lip and turning away.
Had Winry stayed 10 seconds longer, she would have seen Al joining Ed and Mei, giving Mei something as he arrived. Not long after, the group separated, Ed leaving towards the hotel, Al and Mei towards a restaurant. But she didn’t see any of that, so her mind was racing 120 km/hour as she took the longer route to another exit.
One, a small part of her was yelling extremely loud curses in her head, but the rational part of her tried to convince her that what she had just seen meant nothing. Maybe Ed had just been waiting to see her and accidentally bumped into Mei. Winry knew Mei well enough to know she was very familiar with hockey, so maybe she had recognized Ed and wanted to introduce herself. Besides, after the sweet, private moments in her room, would Ed really just ignore all that? That didn’t seem like something he would do.
Winry realized that if she was going to make this, what could be a beginning of a meaningful relationship, work, she had to trust him. And in the end, nothing about the meeting she had witnessed had suggested anything more than a friendly encounter. But still, where had Al been? And why had she smiled so widely at him? And why did all of this have to happen now that she was supposed to focus on her competition and they were going to leave to their home country in only a few days?
When Winry got back into her hotel room, she decided to do what best calmed down her mind; drawing blueprints for her next mechanical project. When she began drawing, she had no idea what she wanted to make, but soon the sketch started to become clearer; it resembled an arm. At first she thought she was unconsciously drawing the exact copy of Ed’s automail arm, but at closer inspection she realized it looked different. It looked more like the person whom she was imagining using it; a flame symbol decorated the top plate, reminding her of his fierce nature. Even though the material she wanted to use for this automail was lighter than the one he was now using, the layers it had made it stronger. She had to admit, she quite liked how it ended up looking.
Just when she was putting away her pencils and erasers, her phone started ringing.
“Granny! Hi! How are you doing?” Winry had been thinking about her grandmother quite a lot for the past few days, so hearing her familiar voice made her feel better.
“I’m doing just fine, dear. But I must say, I am slightly surprised you haven’t called me since the team event. I hope everything’s fine there, though, because it’s not like you to ignore your grandmother.”
“E-everything’s alright! I hope you saw my performance today. Only 0,10 points from the lead!”
“I saw it! You looked wonderful out there. But you don’t sound very convincing, I hope it really is alright.”
“It’s… a long story. Granny, I… like someone.”
“Really? Now that’s a surprise. I thought you are so into your sport you don’t have time for anything else.”
“Yeah… I kinda thought so too. So, do you remember Edward Elric from Resembool? Our ex neighbor?”
“Of course I do! You guys were always at it, fighting with each other all the time, but if someone dared to say a bad word about you, he was always there to defend you.” Pinako smiled at her memory. “Have you seen him there? Doesn’t he play hockey these days?”
“Yes, I have, and he does… You see… He’s kinda the person I like. And I think he likes me too.”
“Oh! Well, if he’s anything like his parents, I’m sure he’s a decent person.”
“He is… Only, today I saw him talking with my rival and… I don’t know what to think about it. I mean, it probably was nothing, but… I got jealous.”
“If he is in his right mind, he doesn’t even look at anyone else when he could have my granddaughter. Don’t worry, Winry. If that bothers you, why don’t you just ask him?”
“I already had one opportunity, but I chickened… And I can’t ask him now because I said we should keep some distance between us until my competition is over.”
“You have put yourself in quite a situation. But my advice is that just talk with him. That way you’ll know what exactly happened.”
“Right. Thanks, granny.”
“No problem.”
After saying her worries aloud, Winry realized how silly they must have sounded. After all, it wasn’t like Ed wasn’t allowed to talk with other girls. That’s why she decided to change the topic: “Hey, listen! I just drew some blueprints for an automail and I’d like you to take a look at it. I’ll send you a photo and you can then tell me your opinion on it!”
The grandmother and granddaughter spent the rest of the evening discussing Winry’s automail, Pinako giving Winry some advice and improvement suggestions and Winry doing the necessary changes. By the end of the evening, she was feeling like herself again, and was already imagining how Ed would react when she’d show him the blueprints.
 …
 “Next up, performing her free program, Winry Rockbell!”
Winry inhaled and exhaled deeply and shook her limbs to warm the muscles up before finally stepping on the ice. She had thought the previous performances would have calmed her nerves a bit, but as she was waiting for the music to start playing, she realized that this was every bit as hard as it had been earlier. Maybe even harder in a certain sense. The reason for that was sitting in the stands, or at least she assumed he did. For some reason, knowing that he was watching, made this performance more personal.
When Garfiel, who usually made Winry’s choreographies, had suggested her free program would have a romantic theme, Winry hadn’t liked the idea. Romantic love had always been a foreign area to her, and she had never even officially dated anyone even though the reason for that wasn’t the lack of interested people. It was the lack of interesting people. The few times she had been on dates, she had noticed the other person was on a totally different wave length from her, not caring about the same things she did, or asking her out simply because they had recognized her from TV. Sometimes she had wondered if there was something wrong with her, or if she was simply an a-sexual, but she hadn’t gotten answers to her questions until she arrived in the Olympic venue.
Was it love she was feeling towards Ed? Winry had always been one to think that real love didn’t strike anyone that fast, but when she had told Ed she was falling for him, she had meant it. She might not be quite there yet, but she was on her way. The thought of getting to spend more time with him and learn to know him even better excited her. On the other hand, she had felt jealous when she saw Ed with Mei, which was an emotion only familiar to her from her childhood when she had seen her classmates getting hugs and kisses from their parents, and she had only had her grandmother. She knew Ed could be a tough person to handle on his worst days, but somehow, she believed the good days would win them 100-0. If he gave her a chance…
Because of all this, she felt she understood the character she was acting in her performance a lot better now. Earlier, she had often gotten critique for performing the elements cleanly but lacking in the emotion department. The audience would see a robot doing what she was supposed to do, not having any emotional connection with the performance. Now, she wished that she could use her recent experiences to build a believable story that did move something in the audience’s hearts.
She quickly tested that her hair and the bright red dress with a lot of glitter on it (Garfiel’s idea) were where they were supposed to be and finally heard the first sounds of the romantic song starting to play, meaning it was go-time.
The first element in her free program was a triple Lutz – triple toe loop combination. She managed to land it cleanly, but was worried her body language was screaming she didn’t know what to do… If only she’d get the three first jump elements out of the way, then she could breathe a bit. The step sequences and spins had always been more of her thing.
Double Axel. Done! And she felt she would have had enough speed to keep on rotating but decided to not risk it this time. There would be a time and place for a surprise factor later on…
Then came the final jumps of the first half of her performance, a triple Salchow – triple toe loop combination. Unfortunately, Winry had gotten a bit too confident after the double Axel, and she slipped a bit between the jumps, having to cut the rotation short and making it only double toe loop. Not a big loss, considering she still hadn’t fallen or otherwise failed, but it still bummed her for a moment.
She didn’t have time to get stuck on that one slight slip, though, because she already needed to start focusing on the first spin. It was successful, and finally she managed to make herself smile a bit as she moved onto the step sequence. Even though step sequences had always been her favorite part of her programs, she found this particular one challenging because she was supposed to express the happiness of having met someone special. Now she understood that emotion better, though, and the audience oohed and aahed with excitement as they watched her move swiftly, the smile coming from her heart instead of being forced.
“How the hell did she do that?” Ed asked as Al and he were watching Winry performing a triple flip – double toe loop – double loop combination. To Ed even one jump was amazing, to perform 3 of them in a row was beyond his understanding.
“It’s called routine, brother, she has practiced that for years,” Al stated. It was really amusing to watch how into Ed could get into this sport he knew nothing about, all because of that young woman who was currently gliding on the ice. If he was honest, Ed was the last person he would have expected to see in such a situation, but it was a nice change, and he could see it was doing good to his brother.
Ed yelled proudly when he saw Winry perform another jump, triple Lutz this time, then turned to look at Al briefly:
“Do you think she has a chance of winning this?”
“It is going well, I don’t see why not. But the competition is tough.”
“Right.”
“Hold on a sec.” Al held his breath for a moment when Winry was in the air again. “That isn’t… yup, it is! Triple Axel!”
Ed didn’t really know what a triple Axel was, or how it differed from the other jumps (he made a mental note to learn more about it later), but it must have been something awesome because the entire audience around him was roaring with excitement.
“W-what?” he asked.
“Brother, you really should do some studying on figure skating… Only a few female skaters have managed to land it successfully in a competition. She did it in the team event here, but I believe that’s when she got hurt… But based on her reactions there were no issues this time! Now she REALLY has a chance of winning!”
Ed focused his attention on Winry’s facial expressions and noticed that she really did seem like a huge weight had fallen from her shoulders as she was performing a choreographic sequence. In fact, her expression looked a lot like the one he had only seen on her face when they had been alone in her room. But why would she…
“Uh, Al? What do you think this performance is about?” he asked suddenly.
“Isn’t it obvious? It’s a love story, she meets someone and shows her love for that person.”
“Really?”
“Definitely.”
Ed felt a blush spreading on his face as he took Al’s words in. Suddenly focusing on the performance felt a bit harder. He did see her jump one last time (Al did say the jump’s name but he missed it) and do the spin combination that finished the routine, but his mind was elsewhere. He would have to tell her about his decision soon.
“Congratulations, dear, that was a fantastic performance! I am so proud of you! And that triple Axel? Only you would have had guts to do that again after what happened the last time! But the risk was worth it!”
“Thank you, Garfiel!” Winry said as she hugged her coach. “I felt… I needed to prove myself I could do it even though I would have probably done just fine even with a double Axel… “
“To me it looked like you also did a lot better job portraying the emotions of your character… Is there any specific reason for that?”
“Uhh… nothing you need to know right now… I’ll tell you some other time,” Winry answered awkwardly.
Winry barely had time to take a breath after pulling away from Garfiel when two new sets of arms surrounded her.
“If that isn’t a gold winning performance, I don’t know what is!” Paninya squeeled and Rosé agreed with her.
“Oh, come on, guys, you are not here to celebrate me, you are my rivals!” Winry scolded them. “Now, if you don’t go back to your preparations, I’m gonna kick your asses. And Garfiel, we need to go, they are gonna announce the points any minute now.”
They sat down on their seats, and sure enough, only a few moments later the announcer yelled:
“And Winry Rockbell’s points are… 150,15! Together with the short program, that makes 232,10 points! What an astounding performance! That is her personal best!”
“Wow…” was all Winry could say.
“Winry, my dear… I think a new champion has risen.” Garfiel said next to her.
Paninya and Rosé’s turn was soon after, and both succeeded well with their performances. Paninya got her personal best score and Rosé got her seasonal best as well. The two of them were already ready to celebrate Winry’s victory when it was Mei Chang’s turn, and they held their breaths (probably more nervous than Winry herself) as she performed. The audience reacted loudly to her elements and it was clear everything was going according to Mei’s plan.
A few minutes later, her points were announced: 148,5. Together with the short program, that wasn’t enough to top Winry. She couldn’t help but smile a bit, remembering what she had seen the day before. This also Winry really had a chance of winning the entire competition.
The last skater of the night, and Winry’s biggest challenger, was Lan Fan from Xing. She had gotten just slightly better points than Winry in the short program, but she was known to shine in her free programs, so despite Winry’s amazing points, nothing had been decided yet.
As expected, she performed her elements flawlessly, but her jumps were slightly easier than Winry’s, and at least in Garfiel’s opinion she seemed to lack the charm Winry had had on the ice. Winry watched the performance in the dressing room with the other girls, but when she met with Garfiel afterwards, she found him biting his fingernails nervously.
Winry wasn’t sure what she was feeling at that moment. The biggest part of her was relieved it was over; no matter what would happen, she already knew she had done her best and would go home with a medal. However, there was a reason why she was a professional athlete; she did have the competitive side in her, and that side tried to argue with the rational side that said she could be proud of herself, either way. A silver would be a disappointment after such a performance.
Winry’s heart was beating fast when Garfiel took her hand as the announcer started to speak.
“Lan Fan’s points are: 149,10! That means she wins the silver medal, winning her country woman Mei Chang by a point. Our Olympic gold medal winner is… Winry Rockbell from Amestris!!!”
“Ed, you gotta go!” Al tried to get him to leave the arena before the rest of the audience would.
“What, I want to congratulate her! Dammit, Al! This is the biggest moment of her career so far and you are telling me to leave?!”
“I mean, she’s gonna have a party, and you can’t go there looking like that! Brother, please!”
“Fine. But if you see her, you’ll tell her that I’ll see her soon, right?”
“Of course! Just go now.”
 She really was the Olympic champion. When the information sunk in, it seemed like her brain just turned off and she could remember only bits and pieces of what happened afterwards.
There were a lot of hugs. Garfiel, waiting for the points next to her, was obviously the first one to hug her. Rosé, Paninya and Gracia were all waiting for her by the rinkside, giving her quick, tight hugs before she had to go back to the ice to accept her reward. When she joined the other medalists on the ice, they hugged her too, and especially Mei seemed really enthusiastic and happy for her, making Winry a bit confused. Was there something going on she didn’t know about? In that moment, she only wished she could find the person she wanted to hug the most, but scanning the audience with her eyes, she couldn’t find him. One would have thought it would be easy to spot the two golden haired men in the audience, and she knew for fact they had promised to be there, but for some reason she couldn’t find them.
She accepted the flowers and the plush she was given (the actual medal would be given later that day in a special ceremony outside the arena) and after skating a few rounds and thanking the audience, she tried to get into the dressing room to change into something more comfortable. That turned out to be difficult though, with all the passing people wanting to congratulate her and get her first comments, and it took her at least 15 minutes to finally get into her destination.
“You haven’t possibly seen Ed and his brother anywhere?” Winry asked her figure skating team that was already starting the party in the dressing room, popping a bottle of champagne that someone had hidden into the locker.
“No, not a glimpse,” Paninya and Rose answered in unison. Winry started getting anxious. This was such a huge moment for her, and she really wanted all her favorite people to be around.
It took a while before she could leave anywhere because glasses needed to be emptied, speeches given and songs sung. Paninya even threatened to throw Winry into the cold shower like was the habit in the hockey world, but fortunately for Winry, she managed to talk her out of it. Eventually, she managed to sneak out with the excuse that she needed to go back into her hotel room because she had left her party dress there.
Before she would do that, though, she would find out where the hell Edward was. He hadn’t even answered her calls while the other girls had taken Garfiel into the cold shower instead of her. Briefly, she wondered if that meeting with Mei had something to do with this, but quickly pushed that thought aside. Now was not the time for that.
When she got into the hotel hallway that Amestris’ athletes shared, she debated for a long while if she should go and change like she was supposed to, or if she should just march into Ed’s room and let him hear it if he happened to be there. She chose the latter.
“Edward Elric! If you are there, get your ass out right now!” she nearly yelled as she banged his door. She wasn’t actually expecting anyone to be there, so when she heard the sound of the crutches from inside the room, her eyes widened in embarrassment.
“Hi?” Ed opened the door, revealing the black suit and a red tie he was wearing. Winry looked at his outfit with confusion.
“Are you going somewhere?”
She guessed it was too much to ask him to spend this important night with her.
“Aren’t you?” Ed took in the tiny red figure skating dress she was still wearing. Why did she have to look so good in it, he growled in his mind. “I’m not sure that dress is the most appropriate one for a formal party.”
“What are you talking about?” Winry felt she understood less and less about what was going on.
“That you and I are gonna go to your party, what else would I be talking about?”
“I thought… I thought…” Winry couldn’t form a full sentence. He had been thinking about her after all.
“What?” Ed asked, equally confused.
“That you had forgotten. Or didn’t want to go. Or had other plans…”
“And why would you think that?” Ed frowned. He didn’t understand why Winry was acting so weirdly all of a sudden.
“Because I didn’t see you at the arena! And you didn’t answer to my call! And I saw you hanging out with Mei Chang the other day!” she blurted without thinking.
“Again: what? Winry, there’s a good explanation to all of those things. I left the arena early because when it became clear you would win, Al forced me to come back here to clean up because apparently I couldn’t look like an emo at your party. I wouldn’t have wanted to leave. He also promised to let you know I would be waiting here. Which clearly he didn’t. And I didn’t hear your phone call because I was in the shower. And I definitely wasn’t with Mei because I wanted to, but because Al told me to wait with her while he was getting her some flowers or chocolate or who knows what unnecessary… They were gonna go out for a dinner, you see.”
“So… you’re saying all of that was just an unfortunate misunderstanding?”
“Yes, you silly.”
“Great. Of course I would ruin my own party by overthinking things.” Winry sat down on Ed’s bed and covered her face with her hand with embarrassment.
“Hey, don’t be mad at yourself. You couldn’t have known.” Ed sat down next to Winry, setting his crutches down, and took her chin between his thumb and index finger and lifted it, so she was staring right in his eyes.
“But I…” She couldn’t finish her sentence because she noticed the expression on Ed’s face, and it nearly made her knees go weak. She had seen that fierce, determined look a couple of times before, all of them right before they had almost…
Only this time there wasn’t “almost”. Ed hesitated only one moment, deciding this was a now or never situation, and with his free hand he pulled her closer. He moved the hand that had been holding her chin behind her neck, while he was wondering how she would react to what he was about to do. Winry didn’t have time to close her eyes before he pressed his lips against hers, a bit sloppily but firmly, soon finding the right angle to get best access to her lips. Winry couldn’t help but smile into the kiss when her brain finally registered what was happening. He really was kissing her.
All too fast, he pulled away, his heart pounding faster than in a hockey game and his cheeks adorably red. Winry thought she couldn’t have looked much calmer herself. She had imagined this situation so many times in her head, but now that it finally happened, she couldn’t nearly believe it. From that little preview she knew she wanted that to happen again. And last a lot longer.
Finally, her brain recovered enough to be able to form full sentences:
“Hold on. Ed, would you care to explain what this means? Didn’t you say the other day you had promised…”
“Shhh, just listen. I can’t… I can’t promise it’s always gonna be an easy road, but… I want to try.” Winry looked at him expectantly, so he continued: “You have made me see I don’t have to do this alone, and I really owe you a lot for that. You have made me feel happy even though normally I wouldn’t even be able to get out of my bed in this situation.” Winry knew he was referring to his broken leg and the tournament that had ended too early for him. “So that’s really amazing. You just seem to have that weird power. You know, you deserve to be happy, and I… I want to be someone who makes you happy. Equivalent exchange, right?”
“Ed!” she squealed and hugged him so forcefully he almost fell from the bed.
“So, what do you say? Do you want to give me a shot?” he asked nervously.
“Yes, you idiot!”
This time it was her turn to initiate the kiss. It was much longer than the first one, and Ed even allowed his hand to wander on the backside of Winry’s thin dress, feeling the smooth material and causing chills in Winry’s core.
“By the way… Congratulations,” he whispered, leaning his forehead against hers.
“For what?” Winry had nearly forgotten what had happened only a little while ago.
“For winning the Olympic gold, dummy. My girlfriend is world’s best figure skater!” Ed exclaimed proudly.
“Oh… thank you.” Winry blushed and pecked his lips once more.
“So… Will you get your dress changed?” Ed asked with much more confidence when they pulled apart.
“Yes… But if you think I’ll let you watch just because you’re my boyfriend now… well, I dare you to try.”
“You’re feisty. I like that.” Ed snorted and Winry threw a pillow at him.
Ed stayed nicely in his room while Winry went to change, but the whole time both of them had huge smiles on their faces. Somehow, Winry had a feeling she had just won something far more valuable than an Olympic gold.
