Anyone have any digital art tips or tutorials on how to create characters? I want to make some art for the Outsiders (both musical and movie) but I genuinely have no idea where to begin. I don’t have an iPad yet—that’s my goal at some point this year is to invest in a iPad so I can get procreate—but I have an Android tablet (it was the cheapest thing my mom could afford at the time even though we’re Apple family) with ibispaint on it. So if anyone has any tutorials or drawing tips when it comes to ibispaint or digital art pls help a girl out. Line art and layers trip me up but I plan on drawing Tilly Ace as a warm up cause I feel like her character is underrated and she needs more love in this fandom.

Thinking abt my unfinished Joel Miller, Mirko, and High Moon drawings sitting on my iPad but i can’t bring myself to actually work on them. I don’t feel like I’ve actually learned anything all this time and I’m feeling stuck.
I wanna be good at art, i don’t expect to be amazing or even great but I wanna be decent, maybe even good. what if I’m gonna be stuck on this low level though?
I know that practice is what makes you good and everything but idk if it’s the ADHD (even if it isn’t maybe I can get away with blaming this feeling on it) but I’m so unmotivated to practice when nothing turns out good. I don’t know how to practice without tracing and that feels like cheating and it doesn’t feel like it’s actually practicing either.
I literally cannot see images in my head so I can’t envision what I want to draw before I attempt to and using a reference photo is helpful but when it’s off to the side I usually end up moving it on accident with my hand while drawing.
Proportions are so freaking difficult as well. The eyes are either too close or too far apart, same with the eyebrows. I can never figure out how to draw a nose, because I usually want to add nose piercings but I can’t figure out how to draw the nose to get the piercings I want to look good.
Lips!! I want them to have shape, I want to draw the top lip or even the cupids bow but when they’re smiling or frowning I have no idea how to color it in without it looking weird.
Bodies!! No matter what tip or trick I try I cannot figure out how to draw a body that doesn’t look like a twelve year old boy drew it. No matter how many references or anatomy photos I look at I cannot figure out how to translate it to the drawing. I struggle the most with the shoulder to hand area and the torso.
You would think that as someone with breasts i would know how to draw them but it takes me a million and one tries before I have something I am somewhat satisfied with.
All in all I’m just feeling like I’m never gonna be any good at something i so badly want to be good at and it’s kinda makin me a lil sad but it’s okay.
Rant over; if any digital artists have any tips for ya girl pls help me :’)

Hey, this is probably a weird question and I mean no disrespect but I was wondering if you can give any tips on how to write selfship stuff? I’m struggling to write it as I keep “cringing” at it (i know it’s not cringy at all but still). I love your writing, thanks for sharing it with others! Your account is wonderful and super inspirational :) (if this ask offends in any way pls delete it)
Oh, wow, thanks! I'm actually super insecure about my writing, so that's awfully kind of you to say 😅
I've been writing selfship fics since I was uhhh..... 11. So that's 13 years ago. So I got into it long before I ever experienced cringe or even knew what selfshipping was. I usually write on an app on my phone so that I can jot down ideas wherever/whenever. Most ideas aren't big enough to be a full story, so it also feels less like I'm abandoning a "project" if it's only a draft on my phone (similar to why I do digital art rather than traditional, putting it on paper feels like a commitment, I wanna be able to easily drop ideas that won't work). But when I have a longer story I really like I'll shift it over to my laptop to make sure I actually fill it in.
Sometimes when I get stuck in a story trying to figure out how I get from Point A to Point B, I'll just put [] where I need to go back to finish and just write what I already know is gonna happen. I can figure out the details later, no need to let them stop me.
Also remember you don't have to share your writing with anyone if you don't want to. The first 11 years of my stories will never see the light of day, and that is perfectly fine. Y'all don't need to see middle-school me fawning over Roy Mustang. Those will remain in the Google Drive for all of eternity. Imagine that FMA equivalent of "My Immortal". Now please stop imagining. There are also some stories I write with Sol that I worry about how they'd be received, or that address something too personal, so I just don't post those. Easy peasy.
I also tend to write in the third person because it makes me feel less embarrassed lol. Like this isn't me, it's my s/i (we are exactly the same, there is literally no difference, but it feels less cringe to me).
Does that help at all? Feel free to DM me if you have any specific questions, I am in fact just some guy.

Danger (Part 1)
WORDS: 1,304
WARNINGS: Mentions of explosions/evil plans basically
in case u wanted to know context of the Sympathy fic I did yesterday, I’m writing a prequel tihngy. this is part 1 and doesn’t feature much Self shipping (though it references my ship with Quackerjack and @sphearts‘ insert Patch), but pls know the next parts will. reblogs also appreciated!!! I had a lot of fun w this ;w;
------------
The Fearsome Five were once more up to something very dastardly. When weren't they? But it seemed today that in that warehouse just off town, not all members of the group were feeling so dastardly. A nervous Bushroot tapped his leafy hands together as he looked over the crate in front of him, one that wires were extending from.
"Are we sure this is such a good idea? I -I m-mean...There's - there's just - there's innocents down there, you kn-know?" He shook his purple-foliaged head and frowned. "Oh, I c-couldn't bear to destroy the poor things...N-not so gruesomely..."
Bushroot's concerns fell on deaf ears, of course, and in fact his words were met with a laugh from Quackerjack, who was dangling upside down from the rafters for whatever goofy reason. "Since when do YOU care about the civilians, bush brain?"
"W-who said anything about people?" The scientist almost seemed offended, "You know I'm talking about the plants! The - the - the trees! The f-flowers! They're all blooming at this time, I couldn't stand it if they..."
"Are you having second thoughts?" Came the voice of Liquidator, poking up from a puddle on the floor, "Tired of destroying your family trees? Not to worry, the Liquidator will set things right! Lots of water for lots of plants, right?"
"Uh, I-I guess..." Bushroot nodded, but still seemed tense. "A-anyway, Quackerjack - don't think you're one to - to talk. You're the one with a f-family at home. Shouldn't you be worried about them? What if they get caught in the explosion - bet you'd be pretty bummed then...!"
"Please, they know to stay out of any destruction zone!" replied the jester with another laugh, "Well, except Patch - but who knows where they go....Maybe your plants oughta do the same...You know...Make like a banana and split! Hohohohoooo~!" As he said banana, he pulled out Mr. Banana Brain, because of course he did.
"Just better hope they don't get in the way again," Megavolt sneered. "They're always so unpredictable...But then again, so are you."
     "Hohohooo!"
"Which one of you idiots is making Quackerjack a fool of himself again?" growled a new voice, and one that shot chills down each Fearsome member's spine. Negaduck had finally arrived. "Or is it just Quackerjack being a fool all on his own? Either way, his laughter is getting on my nerves."
"Oh, goody!" Quackerjack grinned from above. "Boss is back! Great to see you, Negaduck! Buddy, ol' pal!"
"Yeah, yeah, roll out the red carpet." Negaduck waved his hand with disinterest. "Is everything in place, boys? 'Cause if it's not..."
"The Liquidator has a 100% satisfactory guarantee! Indeed, you, Negaduck, will be pleased - or your money back!" The watery dog seemed a bit too cheery considering all this talk of explosions...
Negaduck shook his head. "I'll hold you to that, you walking infomercial..."      But at this, Megavolt spoke up, "But Boss, you didn't give us any money, so we can't exactly give it back..."
"Well,  your life can repay any debt, don't you think?" He tapped his foot on the ground. "I mean, really, that's what you're gonna give me anyway if you losers screw this up."
"That's our Negaduck! Always so forgiving..." Seems like even the concept of dying a bloody death as punishment for failing sounded like a fun time to Quackerjack. "Anyway, boss..." He dropped down from the ceiling and landed directly in front of Negaduck now, "I've got a question for you, if you've got the time..."
"I don't have the time." Negaduck tried to walk past the insolent clown, but Quackerjack quite literally bounced back to front and center.
"It'll only take a second! See, Bushroot and I were just having a civil little conversation -"
"Nothing civil about it," huffed Bushroot in the background.
"9 out of 10 reviews give that conversation a thumbs down," added Liquidator.
Quackerjack snorted. "Anyway, it got me wondering if YOU have any ties that could be -"
And then, his beak was grabbed quite cartoonishly to shut him up. Negaduck was obviously unamused. "No, Quackerjack. Unlike you, I don't need a family to keep me stable."
"Yeah, you only need a chainsaw," chuckled Megavolt.
"Bingo. And frankly, I don't even need that. Any weapon will do, yeah?" Negaduck let go of Quackerjack now, but walked past while purposely stepping on the guy's foot. (Though this backfired, because there was a honking sound effect and that just annoyed the boss more.) "If that's all you nubs needed, then let's start the operation."
"Aye-aye, sir!" came the chant of his cohorts. Negaduck would walk towards the earlier mentioned crate, which with the little help of a button on a remote he had, opened to reveal a computer inside. On the screen was a map of St. Canard in neon green color, and Negaduck began to type in some coordinates from a sheet of paper - one that he'd somehow taken from Megavolt when the rodent wasn't looking.
"And...we...are...good...to....Eh?" His finger paused over the last number, "No, wait a minute, that ain't right..." He back spaced and tried again. Still no.
    "Somethin' wrong, boss?" asked Megavolt.
"The coordinates I'm inputting on this detonator...They're nowhere near the correct ones." He glared at Megavolt. "Where did you set up the bombs?"
"On the south side of -"
At this, Negaduck's eyes narrowed. "The SOUTH side? You LOSER, you can't even follow orders right...I said the NORTH would be destroyed..."
Megavolt stared, and became increasingly panicked. "W-wh-wha? W-well, it shouldn't be too big a difference! A-after all, it's still just a threat, r-right? Not like we won't get our point acro-"
"That's not the point, you dolt! There's some stupid art convention going on in the South Side of town, and I wanted to specifically avoid that area!"
   Silence.
"Uh....Why-" began Bushroot, but he quickly retracted his inquiry as Negaduck shot a nasty look at him. "Th-that is....We can just set the bombs up elsewhere, right?"
"Yeah, and it's gonna take all day! Forget it, this plan was a failure...And it's not my fault, I'd like to say..." Negaduck crossed his arms. "Quackerjack and Megavolt can be in charge of defusing all the bombs."
"Hmm...Is it really such a big deal?" Quackerjack smiled in a way that sorta said he was about to cause trouble, "It's just strange you'd care so much about a little setback that you'd cancel your whole plan...Not even a Plan B...."
"Y-yeah, that's  - that's right!" chimed in Bushroot. "We should just go ahead with it, already!"
"Act now, and the Liquidator can wash away YOUR worries, with a bang!"
"It will SURELY shock you!" beamed Megavolt.
"Will you all be quiet?! I'm sick of your puns!" Negaduck snapped, "You're all so...useless!" Well, this was getting nowhere fast. Soon, in a comedic fashion, the Fearsome Five became the Fumbling Five - everyone started arguing, and in the midst of it...Somehow, probably when nobody was paying attention, that last digit got put into the detonator.
"Forget this," Negaduck growled, "I'll just have to..." And then he noticed the timer. "W- No! Oh, for the love of -" Everyone watched as he rushed to the computer and began trying to stop the detonator. "UGH! YOU IDIOTS!"
The others looked at each other. Then at Negaduck. Then at each other. And as they ran away so as not to meet his wrath, Liquidator shouted out another quote of "Act now, the offer ends soon!"
"Oh, more than that is gonna end...." But there was no time to worry about that with the clock ticking. He gripped his hat in a stressed manner, yanking on it to try and calm his nerves. But he couldn't stop the detonator - he'd specifically planned that so that Darkwing couldn't screw things up...What irony!
But why did he care about that art convention? Well, as he rushed off to try and find a certain someone,  he wondered that himself.

the three wingmen of thh; Leon (chaotic), Kyoto (lawful), and Hina (neutral)
Kyoto was 100% the reason Celeste is dating Junko, it’s canon now. She is extremely involved in seating for extracurricular activities (i.e. the tea parties), and commonly puts them together. She finds putting Taka and Mondo apart...helps them?? She has no idea why but if they’re seated far from each other, they are immediately cuddling once they leave the room.
Grey-hair and Blue-hair girls are dating, no I do not take criticism (grey hair has braids I think and protects a mob guy?? and blue hair is the mastermind ig, she has black glasses apparently) - queer eye anon
oh my god yes???
Leon and Chihiro were some very powerful masterminds behind ishimondo ngl 👀 like chihiro’s brainpower combined with kuwata’s sheer strength of will?? UNSTOPPABLE those gay bitches never stood a CHANCE
although to be fair, most of their plans DID involve using a digital lock and/or utilizing alter ego to somehow force them into an empty room and keep them locked in there until they finally confessed 💛
Leon ALSO wingmans for sayaka because they’re besties who hate each other ❤️ he’s constantly cracking jokes with her about how she should just text Mukuro that she wants to fuck, or jokingly advises her to use raunchy pick-up lines on Sakura. He’s come very close once or twice to just. Blurting out “HEY MUKURO! SAKURA! SAYAKA’S GOT A HUGE FUCKING CRUSH ON Y-” only to have the idol clamp a hand over his stupid dumbass mouth <3
it’s okay because sayaka absolutely gets her revenge when she has to wingman for him and makoto (the only reason she doesn’t completely fuck up kuwata’s chances and embarrass him is because she’s besties with Makoto, too, and knows the poor guy’s ALSO got it bad. There’s a lot of Sayaka (and literally everyone else too) having to deal with some gross oblivious loveydovey pining from these fucking dorks, so she gets her fill of teasing)
And Hina wingmanning for Sakura???? Bruh okay u have no IDEA how much serotonin platonic sakuraoi gives me simply because????? Them?????? They????? Love???????? I love them???
And basically Hina’s just the right amount of empathy/sympathy and logic!! Her main, go-to piece of advice is “just talk to them!” And - surprise - trusting her on this usually leads to having fun and making good memories with the object(s) of affection !!
She’s such a sweetheart??? And like yes ofc she doesn’t have an answer for everything, because her heart is just a lil bit bigger than her brain sometimes (ok but mood tho like no shame this is both kin and projecting) but she’s trying her best!!! As she always listens to whoever needs her at that moment and gives the best advice she can - which isn’t even limited to romantic situations!!! She’s one of the go-to students for when someone’s having, like, an everyday problem or feeling stressed because she’s so non-judgemental and soothing to be around!!!
It’s Hina appreciation hours 💛
Anyway, Kyoko-
she also (unfortunately) is forced to wingman for Makoto and Leon, which means a lot of listening to naegi ramble on about how cool and nice and interesting and pretty and blah blah blah kuwata is (don’t get Kirigiri wrong, she adores Leon, but a girl can only take so much, y’know?)
and requests for Makoto to simply......TELL LEON are almost ALWAYS refused because nope no way in hell absolutely not and so she’s like great I’m gonna go bang my head against a desk because I seriously cannot take the two of you anymore
eventually she (secretly) goes and talks to Leon, without betraying Makoto’s trust or disclosing any information she feels he would not be comfortable with, does her best to subtly hint at the fact that hey. koto’s got a crush. you should fucking ask him about it before I go completely insane. Leon doesn’t fully get the hint but does go talk to Makoto, which FINALLY prompts some goddamn CONVERSATION about it thank GOD
also sorry sorry not to ramble but I just????? an idea hit me like a gd truck and I need to talk about it because I love???? I love????? I love
sometime after all this, Kyoko gets inadvertently wrapped up in co-wingmanning with Makoto for Komaru and Toko/Jill. Except. Those three have no clue about the fact that there is any wingmanning going on.
so kyoko’s like “why are we doing this”
and makoto’s like “because she’s my sister and she’s in love and I want her to be happy!!!”
“Okay but shouldn’t they work this out on their own”
“Not if I have anything to say about it!!!”
“*Sigh.* Goddamnit.”
And then Leon eventually hears about it, as well, because of course makoto’s gonna talk abt it with his boyfriend, why wouldn’t he, and anyway kuwata’s like OH?? POG??? because he and Toko and he and Jill are friends!!!! So he’s like I’ll totally help omg Fukawa and Syo are gonna STOKED
(Makoto does not comment on the fact that Toko most likely will not, in fact, be stoked by the idea of kuwata meddling in her love life, but does at least advise his dear 0-braincell partner to be careful ❤️)
okay okay sorry I’m a simp for tokomaru and syomaru on main but anyway back to kyoko and seating charts-
YEAH ON GOD???
And poor Kirigiri already has trouble comprehending how social interaction works that this kinda shit just???? Completely breaks her?????
“Why.....do people.....react different.......like I will accommodate for it but.....I do not.....understand......”
does not fucking compute
(Also shhhhh don’t let Korekiyo know that there was something about human behavior Kirigiri didn’t understand because somehow they will materialize from the shadows to go on a softly excited special interest infodump ramble/lecture that lasts hours and hours)
But yeah???? Ironically enough, she’s honestly the only person from her class who’s able to, for the most part, figure out how Celestia’s mind works, and so she’s able to use that to her advantage when setting her up with Junko!!! (The thing with Celeste was that it sort of became a case to Kyoko!! Celeste was so Obviously different in her behavior and mannerisms than everyone else that Kirigiri basically ended up treating learning about her the same way she would treat trying to solve a crime or something similar!!)
For ishimondo she chalks it up to “absence makes the heart grow fonder???” she guesses????? seriously she has No Clue
also she doesn’t pick up on it but they DO give each other pining puppy dog eyes from across the room the whole goddamn time like they’re just [y e a r n]
And OKAY ANON???? HEY ANON????? WHERE ARE YOU HIDING THE FUCKING GALAXY BRAIN JUICE???? HELLO???????
I. how is it possible to not know the games and yet,,,,,,,conjure up a concept so incredible????? Pekomugi,,,,,,,,,my g o d
Ok ok ok ok ok hold on hold on lemme gather my thoughts because holy fuck
FIRST OF ALL, Tsumugi is a GIANT nerd, so the thought of having a SWORD GF???? A GIRLFRIEND WHO IS A SWORDSMAN???? HOLY FUCK?????? she can live out her wildest samurai anime fantasies,,,,,,,because she quite literally has a swordswoman girlfriend who would protect her with her sword oh my g o d
SECOND OF ALL, Tsumugi also????? fucking loves sitting in on Peko’s training sessions to watch her beautiful incredible wonderful darling partner spar??? and use badass techniques and strategies???? Literally Tsumugi is always blown away??
and she ALWAYS comes and barrels into Peko to give her a gigantic hug and shower her with kisses once training’s over!!!! And Peko doesn’t understand because
“I am hot and sweaty. I am currently very gross, why are you kissing me,”
“No!!! You’re stunning and perfect and charming!!!! You make me swoon!!! Oh, dear knight, hold me in your sweet embrace....”
meanwhile peko’s just like babe pls let me go take a shower
and okay final thing I promise, but....Peko is absolutely astonished by Tsumugi’s cosplay abilities???? Like with a lot of her works, Peko can hardly even believe that that’s her gd girlfriend????? Like sweet JESUS her datemate is damn good at makeup and disguising herself and whatnot
“cosplay is an art and you have perfected it,” like catch tsumugi fuckinf crying

Oh pls pls PLS write #17 (trusting each other) for stony where Steve and Tony learn to trust each other after all their bad relationships in the past!
(Hello remember this prompt?! Sorry this took so dang long, I could not decide what I wanted to do for this prompt, finally settled on this. I hope you like it!!)
SteveTony, vague non-powered AU, 1.6k
-
"Everyone built the new exhibit up like it's the greatest thing in the world, but his old work was so much better, and..." Steve trails off, biting his lip, and when he glances up he’s a little surprised to find Tony watching him expectantly.
"Why was it better?" Tony asks, and he still has his tablet in his hands but the screen has gone dark. Tony’s attention is entirely focused on Steve, like he really wants to know Steve’s opinion on modern art, like he’s not thinking of telling Steve to just shut up and look pretty.
It takes a long couple seconds for Steve to get enough breath to actually say anything. “So, with the older stuff-“ He starts off hesitantly, but Tony smiles encouragingly, sets his tablet down on the couch beside him, and before he knows it Steve is ranting, hands waving.
Tony keeps listening happily until Steve’s has talked himself out, then lets Steve curl around him, put his head in Tony’s lap like he doesn’t have two feet and a couple dozen pounds on Tony. He just runs his fingers through Steve’s hair, wiggles the tablet out from under Steve’s shoulder and starts complaining about a problem he’s having with his code.
-
There’s a new photo in the tabloids, Steve smiling at a woman as he holds open the door for her, leaving the Met. Tony grins as he looks at it, because he loves seeing Steve so happy, so excited about something, and Tony can’t wait to hear all about it.
Tony looks up excitedly as the elevator doors slide open with a chime, Steve’s precious dumb smiling face coming into view. “How dare you smile at your agent, you hussy,” Tony cries, throwing the magazine across the room.
Steve laughs as it slaps him in the chest, picking it up to see the photo as he shakes his head sadly and says “I don’t know what my problem is.”
He looks back up at Tony with big sorrowful eyes, but Tony is already tired of this game, already across the room and throwing his arms around Steve’s shoulders to pull him into a kiss. It didn’t take long to figure out that the very idea of Steve cheating on him is laughable.
“So, don’t leave me waiting,” Tony says when they pull away from the kiss, smiling at the feeling of Steve’s strong arms wrapped oh so gently around his waist, “what’s got you so smiley?”
Steve’s face lights up again, smile taking over and before he knows it Tony is being spun in place, laughing and batting at Steve’s shoulders. “You’re never going to guess, it’s the best thing ever,” Steve says happily, completely ignoring Tony’s protests, and continues spinning in place as he tells Tony all about his new exhibit.
-
Tony’s stomach is in knots as he rides the elevator up to his penthouse. Steve has been waiting for him for hours at this point, if he’s even still there. Tony really won’t be surprised if Steve is long gone by now, but there’s a small part of him that’s still hoping.
When the doors slide open Tony is greeted by the sight of the lights still on and Steve sitting on the couch, one of his dumb non-digital books in his hands. Tony doesn’t even care if he gets yelled at now, he’s just so happy Steve is here.
“Hey,” Steve says, and the relieved smile on his face is so far from what Tony expected that for a second he forgets to breathe. Steve is oblivious, still smiling big and goofy as he crosses the room and wraps his arms around Tony. “Ugh, I was so worried,” Steve mutters into Tony’s neck, huge hands dragging up and down Tony’s back.
“I know I should have called,” Tony says, returning the hug a little hesitantly because he’s still waiting for the other shoe to drop, “my phone died, and-“
Steve shushes him, lifting his head to pull Tony into a kiss that has him blinking in confusion. When Steve pulls away he rests their foreheads together with a happy sigh, and then says “it’s fine, Tony. I was just worried.” His smile is a little shy as he says “not like you to go radio silent, that’s all.”
“I wanted to call you,” Tony says without moving away, soft and sheepish. A little part of him still can’t believe that no one is screaming yet, that there are no wild accusations flying around. No demands to know where Tony’s been, who he’s been with, nothing. Just a relieved smile on Steve’s face like he’s been picturing Tony dead in a ditch ass opposed to the usual assumption of naked in someone else’s bed.
“Mm, I’m just happy you finally escaped your day of endless meetings,” Steve says, dropping sweet little kisses over Tony’s cheeks, across the bridge of his nose. He cups Tony’s face in his hands, fixes him with an incredibly serious look, and adds “I did order a pizza, but I ate the whole thing already.”
“It’s like you don’t love me at all!” Tony squawks, shoving weakly at his stomach while Steve just laughs and wraps around him tighter.
-
“Hey honey, can you do me a huge favor?” Tony asks as soon as Steve answers the phone, and he can hear how harried Tony is just by the sound of his voice.
“What do you need?” Steve asks instantly, already setting aside his sketch pad and climbing to his feet.
“Please tell you’re still lazing around on my couch where I left you,” Tony says and Steve looks around guiltily, because he definitely is. He just likes it at Tony’s place, likes how every inch of the lavish penthouse makes him think of Tony, likes that he can ask JARVIS for little updates on Tony’s day. Before Steve can actually say anything Tony caries on, like he knows exactly where Steve is, “I need you to go down to my lab and grab something that my dumbass forgot this morning. JARVIS knows where it is.”
“Yes, exactly where I tried to remind him it was this morning,” JARVIS chimes in to say and Steve fights down a laugh even as he shoots the ceiling a commiserating look.
”Are you two talking shit about me again?” Tony demands and Steve really does laugh as Tony rushes on to say “look scheme against me all you want as long as you bring me that prototype, okay, I have to start this video call like right now and I’m gonna stall as long as I can. Love you gotta go please save me bye.”
Steve just shakes his head fondly as the line goes dead, and then tucks his phone away as he says “he really is lost without Miss Potts around.”
“Completely,” JARVIS agrees instantly, and then directs Steve down a couple floors to Tony’s workshop.
The doors slide open for him and Steve carefully touches nothing as he makes his way to a worktable off the side, because knowing Tony literally any of this could explode at any second. With JARVIS’ help it’s not hard to find what he’s looking for, and when Steve creeps into his office Tony gives him a bright smile even as he continues speaking to whoever is on his computer screen. Steve makes sure he stays out of sight of the camera as he slides the prototype across Tony’s desk, then winks and blows him a kiss before sneaking back out of the room.
It’s only later, laying in Tony’s oversized bed, that Steve thinks back to something Tony had said when they first started dating. “So, I guess I should count myself lucky JARVIS didn’t lock me up for busting into your lab unsupervised,” Steve says, grinning a little and running his fingers through Tony’s surprisingly soft hair.
“Very lucky,” Tony says. His thumb is tapping against Steve’s chest in that way that means he’s debating his next words, and his voice is soft when he says “it’s probably because JARVIS likes you so much.”
“I’m sure that’s what it is,” Steve says, grinning wider.
-
Tony looks up when the elevator dings, and the doors aren’t even fully open before Steve is saying “okay, I can’t- how- look, can I rant at you for a second?”
Before Tony even has a chance to assure him that he absolutely can Steve is jumping right into it and Tony can only smile fondly at the furrow in Steve’s brow, the way his eyes seem extra bright when he’s worked up about something. Steve crosses the room in a couple long strides, and when Tony opens his arms Steve wastes no time collapsing down on top of him, burying his face in Tony’s neck and still talking as Tony drags his palms up and down Steve’s broad back.
Once Steve finally rants himself out about his latest commission he lifts his head, gives Tony an expectant look, so Tony laughs and switches to scratching his nails over Steve’s scalp as he complains about his own day and the board meeting he’d been forced to attend earlier.
Once they’ve both vented themselves out they stay exactly where they are, wrapped around each other on Tony’s oversized couch, perfectly happy just soaking up each other’s warmth as the sun sinks lower and the room turns a soft gold.
“You know you mean the world to me, right?” Tony asks, voice barely more than a breath and his lips brushing over Steve’s forehead with every word. He has a horrible feeling that is face is flushed as Steve lifts his head to look at him, but the soft smile on Steve’s face is more than worth it.
“I know,” Steve says, firm but just as quiet, like he’s never even considered doubting it.

request: ellie x reader hate sex that turns to love PLEASEEEEE it’s such a hot trope pls
synopsis: When Ellie’s paired up with her worst enemy for a school project, things go a bit differently than expected. | Hurricane by Panic! at the Disco
warnings & details: smut (duh), daddy kink, hate sex, swearing, degradation, choking, consent is implied but not as explicit as I usually write it and that is later discussed; however, this is NOT noncon (or even dubcon as far as I know), I just thought it was worth mentioning in the context of a hatesex fic. (However, it is discussed later when Ellie worries she might have gone too far in hindsight.) Overall, this fic just isn’t for the faint of heart when it comes to kink and sexual content and mental health issues.
author’s note: there’s something wrong with us, my thirsty Ellie thots… Also, sorry the ending is rushed. I wanted to get this out and didn’t know how to end it.
There’s just something about you that makes her fucking burn. It hasn’t been literal for a while, but as Ellie watches you flirt with some dorky chick who doesn’t know better, it nearly becomes that way.
Ellie is against slut-shaming, truly, but there’s something about the way you womanize - something about it that makes her so goddamn angry - that she just can’t put her finger on. Maybe it’s that you already get whatever you want because of your mutation that pisses Ellie off to no end: your own room with an attached bathroom (those are typically reserved for people who share a room), money, perfect grades, perfect anything without effort. It’s not fair that you get whoever you want, too.
She knows better than to think you’d influence someone to consent with your powers, of course, you’re not that much of a fucking scumbag, but you have your ways of using them to your advantage. Ellie has first-hand experience, from when you flirt with her to make her uncomfortable. (Well, you’ve never outright said it’s to do that… But she can connect the dots. You look… You’re objectively attractive, and Ellie doesn’t see herself as such.)
“Alright, to your seats, everyone,” the teacher requests, and the girl you were flirting with finally scrams. That was an additionally confusing thing; when you flirt with these unsuspecting girls, Ellie is also frustrated with them for being flirted with. Ellie hates being confused - so she hates you even more for this.
“It’s Monday, which sucks, I know, but I have an exciting announcement to make! You’re going to be creating a project this week, in partners! I will be picking them for you, but the partnerships are based on who I think will make a good team, so you shouldn’t be too disappointed. When I call you and your partner, the two of you can get your rubrics - and your story or poem - and sit together, so no one get too comfortable.” She begins to call the different partnerships, and Ellie’s head perks up at her own name, but it’s followed by yours.
“What the fuck?” She blurts, and the teacher gives her a wary look, but says nothing to her when she approaches.
“Well, this is interesting,” you note, and Ellie scoffs. The teacher explains that the assignment is for each pair to read the short story or poem they were assigned and create a piece of art based on the story, as well as write an essay explaining how the art piece relates to the story.
“So, maybe we could each do half the assignment?” you suggest once the teacher’s done explaining.
“That’s a stupid fucking idea, how are you supposed to know how the artwork relates to the story for the essay if you didn’t make the work yourself?”
“Yeah, I guess you’re right. Unless the person making the artwork took notes,” you argue.
“Seriously? More work for me? Nice try,” Ellie remarks with another scoff. You’re not as smooth as you think you are.
“I never said you’d have to make the art,” you retort.
”What? Did you think you’d get to paint another monstrosity like the one outside of Mr. Rasputin’s classroom and screw this up for both of us? Look, I’m not in the mood to fail. I’ll do both parts if you just shut the fuck up,” Ellie snarks, not in the mood to deal with you today. She gets a weird pang of hurt that doesn’t seem to fit in with anything, and your posture suddenly straightens. The teacher eyes you for a moment. Ellie doesn’t know why, so she ignores it.
“Oh, so you can tell the teacher you did all the work and I’ll get a zero? No thanks. I guess we’ll have to figure something out after reading the story and independently brainstorming, which I’d like to do for the rest of the class so I don’t have to listen to your bitching. Just meet me at my dorm later.”
“No, you meet me at mine.”
“Whatever, I don’t care! You’re such a fucking brat, jeez,” you insult, picking up the paper the story’s printed on and looking it over. Ellie, also wanting to read it, yanks it away from you. “Hey!”
“Hi,” Ellie coldly replies.
“Hi,” you mock in a low, goofy tone. “I’m Ellie and I think I’m so cool because I’m mean.”
“What are you, twelve?”
“If I was, some people would be in a lot of trouble,” you respond with a snicker. “Including you.”
“Ew,” is all she says in reply as she looks over the poem. A Poison Tree by William Blake.
“It’s one of my favorites,” you comment off-handedly.
“What, you read poetry?”
“I read Blake, Poe, and Sappho, yeah, but that’s about it.”
“I’m supposed to believe you read Edgar Allan Poe?”
“He’s not exactly an undiscovered genius, and I do have hobbies other than flirting with pretty girls like you. Calm your fucking tits.”
“My tits are plenty calm,” Ellie - rather dorkily, upon second thought - retorts with a glare, putting the paper down between you both.
You just chuckle, afterwards getting out some notebook paper and jotting down notes. Ellie does the same, but waits a while before doing so - so that you don’t say anything about her copying you.The rest of the class is just the two of you shooting bitchy looks at each other and scribbling. She gets up before you do when the bell rings, stomping out.
Later, after school, her anger continues to simmer on the back burner. After she slams her door and tosses her backpack onto her bed, there’s a knock on her door.
“What?” she groans, plopping down on the edge of her bed and slouching.
“We kinda have a project to work on, and you said I had to come to your room. Remember?”
“Of course I remember, I’m not stupid like you,” Ellie insults. “Just come in.”
“And yet I’m the one who has an idea of what to do for the art piece…” You comment as you enter, closing the door behind you and leaning against it. She straightens her posture before you can remark on it.
“Who says I don’t have an idea?”
“Well, do you?” You wonder, smirking at Ellie’s loss for words.
“No, but I bet nothing’s better than whatever horseshit you came up with,” Ellie doesn’t hold back now that it’s just the two of you.
“I think it’d be interesting if we made a short comic where the narrator and the subject of the narrator’s hatred were the same person, but the reader doesn’t know until the end.”
Well, that actually is a pretty good idea… Ellie thinks. No!
“That is the dumbest thing I’ve heard in my fucking life. God, I bet you’re not even a mutant. You’re just a succubus who had your brain removed on the same contract that cost you your soul,” Ellie remarks, and you scoff.
“At least you’re clever, even if you’re an asshole who doesn’t know how to have fun,” you argue.
“You’re so immature.”
“And you’re so pretentious.”
“You’re a fucking idiot.”
“You’re a rude fucking prick.”
“You’re a bastard!”
“I bet you’re still a virgin,” you remark, pushing off the door and ambling the short distance towards her, getting close before finishing: “And it’s only because of your personality.”
“And I bet the reason you stay home during summer break is only because you’re so annoying that your family doesn’t think it’s worth it to fly you out of state,” Ellie spats back, hoping she’s not blushing as hard as she feels like she is at your proximity, your words.
“Bitch,” you curse, and Ellie rises up. You stumble back, and that fills her with just a little more confidence than it should.
“Whore.”
“Oh, wow! Everybody, gather ‘round, feminist crusader Ellie Phimister herself just fucking slut-shamed. God, you are such a hypocritical fucking cunt!” You wander backwards to where you were standing before as you rant, not taking into account the fact that Ellie’s following you. She shoves you into the door, lips hard against yours and hands grabbing at your face, grabbing again a little further back so that they’re in your hair.
She’s so rough - too rough, in the best way.
“Finally,” you breathe once she’s no longer holding your lips captive.
“Shut up,” Ellie replies, and that’s something you can do. She grabs you by the shoulders and turns you, pushing you onto her bed before straddling you and kissing you again… And again… And again… She gropes your chest greedily, unfiltered want surging between the both of you.
It’s rather lackluster foreplay, but somehow her just ripping and groping and taking what she wants from you makes it even better, she doesn’t even care to butter you up before harshly unbuttoning your jeans and-
“Oh,” you moan softly. She curls her fingers experimentally, and you can’t help but admire the focused expression on her face before you remember that you’re supposed to hate her, too. She continues to curl them and your head falls back onto the pillow.
She slides her fingers out of you and circles the tips of a couple on your clit. Your own digits curl into the sheets and when her hand wraps around your neck you can’t help yourself.
“Daddy,” you keen.
“Daddy, seriously? What the fuck is wrong with you?”
“S-sorry, ha, Ellie,” you moan as she slides her fingers in deeper, your right knee lifting to take her in some more.
“Did I say to stop?” She squeezes your throat - only minimally restricting airflow (so far) and creating the most delightful ache - and you shake your head. “God, I could just squeeze the fucking life out of you.”
“You didn’t- Ugh, please, Daddy,” you whine as she clenches harder with her statement and keeps fucking you with those - despite their thinness and shortness - enjoyable digits of hers. “Harder, Daddy, oh god, fuck, don’t stop.”
“I won’t fucking stop, you dirty fucking slut, take my fucking fingers.”
Your hips rock against her hand and you paw at her shoulders, eventually clutching her trademark jacket as you gasp and squirm.
If Ellie wasn’t enjoying herself before - she totally was - she definitely is now as you lose control of your powers, giving her two perceptions of the event taking place: she maintains her own, but experiences yours dually. It’s overwhelming in more ways than one, far more intimate than either of you anticipated this being - not to mention it’s intense in a sensory aspect.
She tightens her grip on your throat to get her bearings as she swears and moans, curling her fingers inside of you and experiencing just how fucking good it feels as well. The world is dancing in and out of your shared sight due to your asphyxiation, but Ellie needs this as she continues to clench those appendages so deep and feel it like it’s happening to her as well.
Ellie moves her fingers to your swollen clit on instinct, feeling just how close you are and stroking fast. She moans before you do when the orgasm hits, clutching your neck for purchase and moaning with you; your name, her name, curses and apologies and gratified fragments. She continues to tease your clit until she squeaks with overstimulation, tearing her hands from you before you pass out due to oxygen deprivation.
Your perception slips away from hers quickly as you come down and Ellie feels so fucking empty without it, without your pain on her neck and the feeling of being absolutely fucked inside of her. You pant out more apologies with drooping eyes.
“No, no, that was…” Ellie offers a trembling sigh. You weakly nod in understanding.
Ellie finds herself studying your flesh a little more: tracing her fingertips on the clearly sore parts of your neck, touching at the strip of stomach and hint of your mound visible due to both your shirt riding up and your pants being unbuttoned.
“Just a second, I’ll- I’ll take care of you,” you offer.
“No, uh… I’m taken care of,” Ellie reassures with a nervous bit of scoffing.
And then it hits her why she doesn’t like you flirting with other girls; why your flirting with her made her stomach do a flip. Why she expressed her anger by shoving her fingers inside your most delicate place as opposed to shoving her fist into your face.
She likes you. A lot. She wants to do this again and again, gentler and rougher and feeling it the whole time.
The next thing to hit her is a wave of guilt, crashing over her as she continues to examine your spent body. You almost fainted.
“You sure? I- I won’t choke you or anything, I’m not really a sadist, uh, physically,” you extend the offer again with some reassurance.
“Physically?” Ellie can’t help but wonder.
“Well, I don’t mind the thought of edging someone, or teasing them ‘til they just can’t take it anymore, obviously, but… What’s it matter to you, anyway?”
“Just curious. In case this happens again or something,” Ellie plays it off.
“Oh, I don’t think I could ever top that, I just wanted to at least get you off in return,” you confess.
“You do know what happened, right?” She questions.
“Well, yeah, but it wasn’t real for you,” you tell her, and there’s a certain sort of sadness there in your tone. It flickers within her as well, and she recognizes it from earlier in the day.
“Are you okay?” Ellie honestly wonders. She’s always been envious of your powers, never realizing just how difficult it must be to constantly keep your reality from seeping into the minds of everyone else; how torturous it must be in that room by yourself when your nightmares are just a little more real than the dreams of everyone else…
How lonely you must be, different from everyone else, even the people who are supposed to be like you. No wonder you’re such a flirt, you must be desperate to make a connection, to be less isolated.
“Umm… Sure?” No one ever asks you that.
“Are you?” With such a strange answer, Ellie can’t help but push.
“Yeah, just- Nothing.” You’re smiling, though, as you head to the bathroom.
Ellie thinks some more, sitting on the edge of her bed. Has she ruined her chances by doing what she did with you? You’re the opposite of unhappy about it, but maybe that’s because it was - as far as you know - with no strings attached?
She feels so stupid that she didn’t notice it before, the way your smile makes her cheeks burn and how she can’t even look at you in that one skirt. How when you toss your hair and giggle at another girl, envy is what pools in her chest, not fury.
When you come out, she says your name.
“What?” you ask, and it makes her feel raw how you suddenly look and act like nothing’s happened, disguising those forming bruises on your neck and having fixed your bedhead. You look like she didn’t just feel all of you as herself, like you weren’t just shaking underneath her and calling her that, like…
“Y/N,” she repeats.
“I- I didn’t break you, did I? Let me-” Your hands outstretch prematurely, you’re ready to touch at her temples to peer inside and she’s almost tempted to let you just to make the connection again, but...
Ellie shakes her head. Have you broken someone? Have you broken yourself? It would explain the way you float from girl to girl saying things that mean nothing to either of you. You wouldn’t want to risk hurting or being hurt.
“You didn’t.”
“Then why aren’t you calling me stupid or telling me to get out?” you wonder.
“Because I don’t think you’re stupid, and I don’t want you to leave,” Ellie says.
“You’re kidding,” you state rather than joke. She shakes her head. “What do you want, then?”
“You.”
“Oh… So you’ve finally embraced it.” She wants to kiss that smirk off your face again. You take a seat next to her.
“Didn’t realize there was anything to embrace, until…” Ellie admits, lifting her hand - which she should probably go wash.
“Oh- Oh my gods, Eleanor Phimister!” you playfully scold with a scoff.
She nods, a bit ashamed of her level of dumbassery while you giggle.
“And you call me stupid…”
“To be fair, I thought you were flirting with me just to piss me off.”
“Oh my god, you think you were pissed off. That’s adorable.” It’s almost infuriating to her how genuinely endearing you seem to find that.
“What was I, then?” Ellie asks in a sort of protest.
“Flustered,” you tell her. Like it was obvious. Oh, it was so obvious, she realizes.
“That does make more sense, but- But…”
“But what? With all the pent-up sexual frustration in your eyes, It’s honestly surprising you didn’t jump my bones sooner. Do you even jerk off?”
Ellie scoffs, but can’t help but feel more than a little embarrassed.
“Not really… Some of us have to train and stuff, and it’s tiring Can’t all have perfect control of our powers.”
“You of all people should know my control isn’t perfect,” you retort, seemingly always able to dismantle her defenses. You seem more somber now, Ellie realizes she probably made a mistake in calling your control perfect, reminding you of the times it wasn’t.
“True,” Ellie admits. “Um, so… What are we now?”
You shrug.
“What’s that mean?” She wonders. You just shrug again. “Y/N. Seriously.”
“I don’t know. I don’t really care.”
“You don’t… Care? But we just…”
“And that was your decision.”
“Wait, you’re not saying…? I didn’t... Um, did I, um-?” Ellie thinks she might be sick, not bothering to hold back the horror on her face. Her dark eyes are wide and glittering more than usual with almost-tears, mouth slightly agape and bottom lip trembling. Her iconic eyebrows are furrowed slightly and you quickly take her shaking hands.
“No!” you quickly shut that train of thought down. “No, of course not, I’m sorry, that’s not what I meant at all. I just meant… It never would’ve happened if you hadn’t initiated things. You didn’t do anything wrong.”
“I choked you with my bare hands and called you a slut and whore and-”
“And I liked it a lot, sweetie, no need to brag,” you laugh it off, squeezing her hands.
“But- It wasn’t right, not like that. It wasn’t a scene or anything like that.”
“Ooh, look who’s brushed up on her BDSM vocabulary...” you tease.
“Stop making jokes!” she snaps, and you flinch, ripping your hands from hers. “I’m... Y/N.” Her expression softens, but you’ve tucked into yourself, to be as far from her as possible without getting up from where you sit on the edge of the bed with her. “I’m sorry. I have… Anger issues. Clearly. I’m working on them. I’m really sorry.”
“It’s fine, I just overreacted,” you brush off her apology, which is even more frustrating, but she just brushes off the brushing off in hopes of getting back on topic.
“The reason I wanna talk about this stuff is ‘cause- Because I don’t want to be enemies anymore. I like you, a lot. I get it if you only wanted this whole whatever to be just a one-time thing, but-”
“Ellie, I’m not the only person with my abilities. I’m not even the only girl. I mean, that is the only reason you want me, isn’t it?” Ellie shakes her head, throat tightening in sympathy - a feeling she’s steadily getting used to the more she talks to you. “Then what could it possibly be?”
“You’re funny, you clearly know me better than I know myself, you’re Y/N fucking L/N, A.K.A- non-literally -the hottest girl in school… The real question is, what could you possibly want to do with me?”
“Well, I mean, you’re a challenge. Not just that, but… I mean, you could probably beat me up, even though you’re really tiny and adorable. I find that attractive in a woman. And… You’re not so boring yourself, either. Like, Quentin, at lunch last week?  Impressive. And you’re smart as a whip, too. And-”
“That’s enough,” Ellie half-heartedly chuckles, flustered at the outpouring of compliments.
“Right.” You smile knowingly.
“So, uh… What now?” Ellie wonders.
“I don’t know. Whatever you want, I guess.”
“I already said I like you, that I want you,” Ellie says - and it’s true that she did - but this time it feels stronger.
“Yeah, well, I’ve heard that a lot of different times with a lot of different meanings, so, if you don’t mind being a little more clear? Like, do you want to just hate-fuck regularly? Or be friends with benefits? Or just do it sometimes when we’re bored, or?”
“Um… I want you to be my girlfriend,” Ellie says, hurting even more for you that you think when someone says they want you, they just want your body.
“Oh! Okay,” you agree, like it’s simple, like you didn’t hate-fuck and then partially unpack some weird emotional shit on both sides, and then decide this.
“Okay?!”
“Yeah. Okay. I’ll be your girlfriend,” you confirm.
“Well, okay…”
“Okay,” you reply brightly. “That’s settled then. Wanna make out?”
“Sure.”

AMA Transcript: Unrequited
Next up, @infantbluee, @kallie-flower, @nori-wings and @thiefofblood (Souly on Discord) came to answer questions and spread the love for their Resbang, Unrequited! Here’s some of what went down:
Q: How did you guys come up with this idea? I remember you threw a ton of ideas around and settled on this one. Can you take us through the process? >:)
kallieflower: Oh god. We went through SO many different ideas. We wrote like what? 40k for our first idea before we scrapped that?
b l u e: Then like 30k for the next one that we also scrapped.
kallieflower: WE KEPT TRYING TO WRITE SHORT THINGS BUT IT DIDN’T WORK. Soma just does not work as shortfic.
b l u e: Even our final bang ended up being a 40k two-shot lmao.
Q: So what was it about this final idea that made u guys decide, YES, this is it???
kallieflower: The first idea was a Madoka Magica AU that exploded into a mess because magical girl worlds take a loooooottttt of work. The second fic also exploded into something big.
b l u e: We were going to stick with it though. We were. We had it all ready for check-in and everything. But then like two days before, kallie went, "okay so I love our fic idea and all but what about this." Me, on three hours of sleep: "I effing hate you." Then we stumbled through our first 3k and sent it to the mods like the gremlins we are.
kallieflower: We didn’t expect it to get so big either but c’est la vie. Chloe almost killed me like 48293783 times during the process but I think we managed alright.
b l u e: You're lucky I love you so much.
Q: Did you guys start writing straight from the beginning of the fic or did you write a specific scene first?
kallieflower: Actually we didn’t start from the beginning haha! Or well, our idea didn’t start from a plot. We just wanted to write Maka cursed. We wanted to write her with no inhibitions in love, like she might’ve been had she not been so hurt by her parents’ separation. And since there are witches in the SE universe, we had fun with that instead of making it an AU.
Q: Do you write linearly at all or did you jump around a lot?
b l u e: Surprisingly yes. Aside from my dream sequences.
kallieflower: Your dream sequences were our pit stops. We just had to actually do the writing to get there.
b l u e: Hahaha our writing process was.... Unique.
kallieflower: That’s one way to put it lmao.
nori-wings: It was a mess, but we love it.
b l u e: WE are a mess so it's just us in fic form.
kallieflower: God yeah. For one thing, this fic was like 90% chloe with me just making her do crazy things I wanted to happen.
nori-wings: And 5% of what the artists wanted to happen.
b l u e: YEAH hahaha that was kallie too tbh. She was like, "me as a witch would not understand anything about my magic at all and would curse people for kicks, so let's do that."
kallieflower: We would have a general plot of how we wanted to go and what points we wanted to hit. Chloe would start to write it, but then I would be like “WAIT WHAT ABOUT THIS.” And then she would pretend she thought I was a total nuisance but we all know she’s too soft and sweet to ever say no to anything. Also our artists were such a LOVELY help too.
b l u e: We wanted as much of their input as possible and we wanted to make this as much of a collab as we could. The train scene at the beginning of the third chapter was all nori because she was mad at us for only torturing Soul and wanted Maka to cry too.
Q: Nori/Souly did you have a favorite piece of art to make?
the monkey chain (soul): The skating scene was my fave. I also accidentally changed the part in the fic with the skating since I didn't ask what kind of skates they were supposed to be kfljgdf.
b l u e: LMAO it's our fault though!!!! We were Too Slow.
nori-wings: Black*Star dragging Soul and Maka is my favorite, it was super fun to draw.
b l u e: When you sent the first wip of that, I think I cried for days. It was better than my dreams. You were both so fast GOD, it takes me seventeen years just to sketch a pic.
kallieflower: For real tho. We don’t deserve artists.
nori-wings: They are exaggerating, it was a quick sketch that I made on a post it lol. It took me a week to draw it in digital.
the monkey chain (soul): I had free time since we moved and were without internet for a night so I had a ton of time to finish my pic.
Q: Did you have trouble meeting the deadline?
kallieflower: Trouble is putting it lightly lmao. We died. Many times.
b l u e: I don't trust fast writers. Clearly they are superhuman. It wouldn't have been hard if we didn't spend so much time drowning in memes and shitposts that we neglected to write.
kallieflower: I blame the internet.
Q: Were there any scenes that you guys really struggled with writing?
b l u e: The beginning, definitely. Everything else flowed out pretty quickly, but the beginning made us want to cry into our pillows and smash our keyboards.
kallieflower: I think there was a period of time where Chloe was like, “I will physically pay you money to write this scene so I don’t have to.” But yeah, the beginning scenes were definitely hardest to write. I think we rewrote them like a million times.
Q: Nori and Souly, was there a part of your art that was trickier to do?
nori-wings: I think painting Soul and Maka's kiss, because I wanted to use as few colors as possible and I played a lot with shading, or at least I tried haha.
the monkey chain (soul): Uhhhh not really for me? My pieces were relatively simple and probably the most issue I had was drawing Maka's skates and figuring out what Soul would be wearing.
b l u e: I cried when we got paired with souly.
kallieflower: Chloe literally fangirled to hell over getting souly as our second artist. And we were very lucky to get nori as our artist too because we already became really close friends through the zine and talked all the time. Our resbang just gave us an excuse to move all our blabber to a personal server lmao.
nori-wings: Yeah, they asked me to be something like a beta but I ended up being their artist.
kallieflower: We joked about it beforehand too and were SO happy it happened. We were so blessed with support and love this year. We never would’ve finished without the help of our artists and betas.
nori-wings: They are making it sound nice, but we wouldn't let them drop out.
kallieflower: LMFAOOOOOO. Nori likes to be sassy but she’s one of the softest of us all
b l u e: We legitimately would've dropped out if not for our artists.
kallieflower: “Do it for our artists” was our mantra through the whole process when we wanted to quit. Peer pressure makes diamonds, maybe.
b l u e: I mean, it didn't feel like that when we were bullshitting our way through our next 5k before each deadline, but it be like that sometimes.
Q: What was your favourite scene to write?
b l u e: My favorite to write was definitely the nightmare demon scene.
kallieflower: Because she’s a sadist and likes angst. Chloe likes to make people feel pain so her favorite scenes were definitely the angsty ones.
b l u e: FDSJFKDSF
Q: For errbody: what do you feel like you improved/grew in this resbang, writing and arting-wise??
kallieflower: For me, I definitely grew in writing skills even though I didn’t end up writing much of this bang (chloe, bless your soul for carrying me this year lmao) because chloe is SO GOOD at writing that it made me want to be better, learn better, do better.
b l u e: Kallie made me work harder than I ever have my entire life and it paid off SO MUCH. I very much only ever write ventfics.
the monkey chain (soul): I feel like I Peaked with Maka's outfit in the skating picture, like I don't pride myself in outfit design much these days but Maka's outfit came out so good. I didn't expect it.
Q: Were there any parts of Unrequited that really pushed you out of your comfort zone?
b l u e: Writing with someone else was such an experience.
kallieflower: We definitely had to compromise a lot in terms of writing. Like I wanted Soul to walk in on Kid touching Maka’s scar and Chloe immediately said “fine, but only if we make Kid a gardener” and if that isn’t a super fair trade off, idk what is. Chloe and I work so well together so that was easy. And we like a lot of the same things.
b l u e: There was a little adjustment [with adapting to different writing styles] but not much, because despite what kallie says, she's actually so freaking smart and talented it actually makes my eyes water.
Q: If you had the time to do something differently, what would you do and why?
b l u e: Everything. Jk no but really. There's just a lot I wish we could've elaborated on. And more suffering to be had of course. I just wish we had more time to elaborate on Spirit and Maka's mom.
kallieflower: Oh god yeah. Maka did not get enough of a backstory in the manga or anime and that makes me sad always.
Q: What made you both decide on the outcome of the curse? Did the witch know how it was going to affect Kid?
b l u e: We actually knew the outcome from the very beginning when we decided what kind of curse it was.
Q: Okay SO one last question for the crew. What is next!!!! >:)
nori-wings: Next collab is me writing and Chloe as my artist. (She just doesn't know it.)
b l u e: FDHDJFKSDDSF
kallieflower: OMG PLS HAHAHA. I’d be all over that collab. Chloe is working on a soma longfic she won’t let me beta because she’s Secretive. And I am trying to work up the energy to use my keyboard again after the hell that was finishing Resbang.
Thanks to the crew for stopping by! Stay tuned for more transcripts!

a list of things about my friend who i am simultaneously very proud of, very jealous of, and very concerned about bc i want to rant but everyone i know has heard some version of this rant before: (read more bc i have a lot to say)
- she’s super stressed but very determined and hard-working and absolutely bent on getting into medical school - she’s going on a month-long trip in july to montreal to learn french - she’s going to write the mcat in august - she’s taking a final exam for her speech class in a few weeks which will qualify her to teach - starting with the next school year, she wiLL be teaching some students for that speech class - she also currently works at a speech pathology practice as a volunteer coordinator where they hired her after she volunteered there for several years and after one other girl is leaving to go to grad school, she will be the second-most experienced person there and will be running one of their programs on top of her existing duties - she is on the board of directors for a local volunteer board (and the organization that she’s on the board for is restructuring so she said that if restructuring means that there’s a position that would fit me, she’d put in a good word) - she’s looking for a volunteer position in a research lab for the school year - she works saturdays mornings as a receptionist at a doctors office - she’s also fasting for ramadan right now so i have no ideA HOW she’s managing to pull these ridiculously long and active days - she finished this school year year with a 3.85 gpa - she’s double majoring in biology and psych - she’s also super social???? so many friends. and so nice. i have been on the bus and i’ve heard people just talking about how nice she is and how they heard she was getting to receive a bunch of awards and how she deserved them all - she’s good at art??? there’s a painting she did framed at our old high school. also she went to a competition once for digital design - i have told her like 5000000000 times that she’s going to burn out (and she has) but she keeps? going?????/ which is frustrating. but also pls teach me ur ways - she also has a bunch of younger siblings so when her parents are away for whatever reason she’s usually the one driving them to games or to lessons or whatever - she also took piano lessons for a while but i think she quit bc she was too busy - oh also she volunteers at a local art gallery anD just took on a new volunteer position at an arts center - she literally got into a car accident and could have eASILY taken off work for at least a daY (only minor injuries) but nah she went to work for eight hours anyway - we’re both organizing a fundraising campaign in support of an international organization (as in we’re the only two at the moment) and we’ve put in equal amounts of work and i jusT DON’T UNDERSTAND - uh she drinks ridiculous amounts of coffee and takes naps but like. not a lot of naps. bc she usually doesn’t have time to go home between things. so i guess that helps but its unsuSTAINABLE - i wish i could be so accomplished but also not bc she’s often very tired but also she makes plans and sticks to them and is a good friend even if she’s basically always working

course feedback from a 2nd year film kid
Hello! Your course feedback tag helped me so so SO much when I was choosing courses in 1st year (and it’s still helping me). I was honestly relieved to find this blog as a resource for all york students! :)
I definitely want to give back to the yorku community & student body so being the shy person that I am, I want to give a bit of my feedback on courses I’ve taken at york so far as an anon, if we’re still able to. Not sure if it’s the right tag for this but hoping it is!
For reference, I’m going into my 2nd year of film as a BFA in Media Arts (new program for this year ooo). Previously I was in the BA for Cinema and Media Studies. This post might be a little long but pls bear with me! Thanks in advance. :)
FA/FILM 1400 9.00 *Not a 9 credit course anymore. Now it’s 6 credits.
Easiness - Introductory film course for all film kids. Teaches you the basics of film jargon, film history and film techniques. Pretty easy for a 6 credit course, but be prepared to write a couple of essays, and write them well!
Interestingness - Some movies were good, some were good to sleep through.
Usefulness - Useful because of what I learned from my TA! Took tutorial with Caroline. She’s really helpful at clarifying expectations and you can see she wants the students to learn. Don’t be afraid to ask for help to clarify theses, essay skeletons, or go to her with any concerns about tutorial participation (if you’re shy like me) if you need it outside of course hours! She’s usually very accommodating to that.
Additional Comments – NO EXAM. If you don’t want to buy the textbook, you can find the textbook online, but the pages might be different due to diff editions! Just make sure you have the right reading for the week. Lectures are long but they’re only long because it’s usually 2 hours for film screenings and 2 hours of lecture (give and take). On good days, there’s only an hour of the prof’s lecture. You’re not obligated to stay if you can’t! Course breakdown: tutorial participation, Fall term essay, Winter term essay (weighs a bit more), and a solo or partner powerpoint presentation on a chapter of the textbook.
FA/FILM 1405 3.00
It’s a course about television studies, but I found it rather dry. There were a few times we screened the first few episodes of shows like The Wire, Jane the Virgin and Grey’s Anatomy, but otherwise, the majority of the actual material was boring (at least to me). We talked about the globalization of television, television companies merging into mainstream ones, American programming versus international, different types of camera work, etc. I thought I did bad in it, but ended up with a mark I was happy with, so although the course may not seem like it’s for you, don’t doubt it because it’s either a hit or miss. Definitely a course I didn’t love, but it IS a required course for film kids, so you just have to put up with it. But hey, at least there’s no final exam!
Breakdown: Tutorial participation, 3 in-class exams about the weekly readings (just 2 long answers for each exam), and a final essay. No textbook needed (all readings are online).
FA/FILM 1120 3.00
This is a screenwriting introduction course that’s required for all film kids. The grading is not too hard, you just have to be open to different ways you can form a story and tell it to your audience. Be open to constructive criticism! Your stories can always improve, and the TAs encourage you to do so. It is a writing course, but the assignments were short and not hard at all. You get to watch a few movies throughout the term, but overall, it taught me how to become a better storyteller. Lectures are long but just go to them for attendance!
No laptops in this class (unless you’re a student with special needs). Prof. Rebecca Schechter is pretty serious about that. No exam, no textbook required. Course breakdown: tutorial participation (includes asking questions), 4 short writing assignments (generally 1-4 pages), and your final script of an original story you create (can either write an outline of your story or a full-on dialogue script.
FA/FILM 1001 3.00
Easiness - Easy. As long as you can be (or at least fake) being creative in various ways by using different types of media resources, give this course a shot! If you’re worried about the courseload, Prof. Ken Rogers hardly touched on the readings, and even if he did, there was no test on them. The majority of the class didn’t do them. The assignments require a bit of creativity though, so if you really want to get an A, you should think “outside of the box” and express your ideas in different ways using media.
Interestingness - I didn’t do any of the readings and lectures weren’t even relevant to our assignments. Lectures were long-winded and mostly boring. You can work on other things while he talks tbh. The assignments were interesting though! You do a few assignments: a social media looping 10 second video of what represents you, an assignment on hyper-attention, a fake news assignment, a mapping assignment about what maps can signify, and a final desktop documentary & mock “budgeting” plan.
Usefulness - Very useful if you want to practice using different types of media while thinking in a critical way. You might be thrown off by the vagueness of the assignments because there is no limit to what you can do. Take advantage of it and think creatively!
Additional Comments – NO EXAM, no midterm, no textbook required. Make sure you have access to a computer - no fancy gadgets are required, but it’ll be easier for you if you’re decent with the computer and creative work. Just attend the lectures (for the sake of it) and attend tutorials. My tutorial was with David Han - he’s a pretty laid back guy and will give you some hints as to what he would like from you. Just approach him honestly, do your work, and you’ll be fine.
AP/PHIL 1100 3.00 The Meaning of Life
Easy. A bit of work, but this is coming from a person who doesn’t like essays. It’s a good introductory course where you learn about a new philosopher each week and I really enjoyed the topics. There is a lecture video, a few readings, and a Moodle quiz every week on the philosophers, usually 10 questions and the best thing is that you can keep retaking the quiz if needed to get your desired score! One course kit is needed with photocopies of the readings. Try taking  with Rebecca Ring, and if needed, go and talk to her out of class at the philosophy department if you’re really stuck on one of the essays or assignments to clarify expectations. The final exam was 10 short essays - sounds like a lot but it wasn’t. Don’t let that scare you off because they were pretty understanding with the grades!
FA/DANC 1900 3.00
No, you don’t have to physically dance. DANC 1900 is a blended course where you watch movies every week, do a reading, and submit a 3-2-1 assignment onto Moodle weekly! (3 things you learned, 2 things you thought were interesting about the week’s material, and 1 question you have). No exam, no textbook - just participate, do the weekly work, and finish the final “essay” (not really an essay) where you choose a movie, create 3 questions about it, and answer the questions in paragraph form with minimal research. Super easy if you have the right TA. I recommend Megan, she’s really understanding. I had another TA before but had to transfer because I really did not enjoy the class when she taught it. If you’re having trouble with the course, need to clarify expectations or having some difficulty with your TA, contact Dr. Bridget Cauthery (the prof)! She was so sweet and accomodated me well.
You talk about racialized bodies and how they’re connected to dance, heteronormativity, social class, all the way down to communism and politics, while watching films like Saturday Night Fever and Cabaret. If you like movies and can make connections from film to other sociopolitical ideas, definitely try this course out!
FA/DATT 1939 3.00 *DATT not listed in courses page
Loved this course, but that’s just my experience. 1939 is a course where you learn a bit of everything for non-digital media majors - HTML/CSS, Javascript, Photoshop (minimal), Audacity (sound program). It would be easier on you if you have at least some knowledge about any of these topics or programs like Illustrator, Photoshop, and HTML, but it’s not required. It’s a coding class but also a mixture of design - you talk about gaming and actually create website “games” for your assignments. No exam, no textbook, but you might not enjoy doing the weekly readings (e.g. Lev Manovich) and (not weekly) quizzes. The short quizzes are on Moodle and based on the readings. You have to attend lab in order to do them! Definitely interesting and it’ll help you out a lot if you want to learn more about these programs and skills! You have to put the work in if you want a good mark though. Two assignments for the whole term - one assignment where you make your own interactive website narrative using HTML/CSS (the prof/ta will show you how), and the 2nd is a group (but you can do it alone) project to make a website game using HTML/CSS and Javascript. It’s easier to work in a group because of workload. For the assignments, the sky is the limit! You can literally do your assignments on any topic you want. Tip - just take it and see if you like it! Don’t take it if you’re a newbie to this and have a heavy courseload though - it’ll just be extra work on you to learn everything from scratch while balancing your other courses.
FA/ARTH 1900 3.00 *ARTH not listed in courses page
Introductory course to art history! Blended course - weekly tutorials and online audio lectures with follow-along powerpoints. Easy if you work hard! Course breakdown: tutorial participation, one assignment where you have to go to Nuit Blanche, and another where you complete a questionnaire at a smaller Artist-Run Centre/other art gallery. For the final essay, you have to go to the AGO, choose a painting to write an essay on and discuss the art techniques used in the painting. The course really helps you learn more about artists in Toronto and it’s fun to go in groups with your friends downtown! No textbook but there’s an exam, which was really easy if you study - memorize painting info and answer some short answer questions you discussed in tutorial. Took the tutorial with Ingrid - I recommend her.

As uncomfortable as it is making art and putting yourself on display, in order to grow and improve as an artist you have to start getting familiar with that feeling. The mix of chemicals and neurons firing you experience when having awkward conversations with that girl/guy you like, before going on stage, or trying to draw something you are uncomfortable with is often described as fear or nervousness, but I’ve been trying to look at those moments when you can feel your blood pulsing through your body with a new lens. I think that feeling is actually the feeling of excitement which through social conditioning has been transformed into that of anxiousness. I think deep down people are excited to be talking to that person, performing, or learning different ways to approach art.
One thing that’s not hard for me to do,  because of my terrible self esteem, is admitting that my art is bad or needs improvement. . . actually it’s much harder for me to accept a compliment about my work then anything else. Which is also bad, because if you deny someone’s compliment it’s like telling them subconsciously that their point of view doesn’t matter, don’t devalue them just smile and say thank you. Although I do wish they would stop using the “It’s better then I could do” seriously stop saying that to your friends who do art because that doesn’t make us feel better. Back to the main point! I know I needed to improve my digital art skills, but I had no idea how to go about doing it. There are a lot of resources online that are available, but the problem was there was just so much free information out there that I had almost drowned in it. I stumbled across this website called https://www.ctrlpaint.com/ which seemed to have everything in a nice organized fashion, had a plethora of free content, and I liked the way Matt Kohr presented both his philosophy and lessons.
I began plugging my way through the lessons one step at time. Although I had taken art classes in college, I figured that like in League of Legends, Fighting Games, Basketball, and now art fundamentals are extremely important and it can never hurt to refresh and sharpen those tools. So I started from step one and worked my way through the Digital Painting 101, Traditional Drawing, And Most of the Drawing 2 segments until I reached this challenge called When In Doubt, Draw 100.  Before I watched it I thought one hundred is a pretty large number, I mean I tried to do Inktober and a thirty day original character drawing challenge and I couldn’t even manage to do those, there is no way I could manage to draw one hundred of something I’m uncomfortable illustrating.
As if the challenge itself wasn’t hard enough, I had trouble even getting started on it. What should I draw? How many drawings a day should I try to do? What medium should I use when illustrating? Were all questions were allowed me to procrastinate and satisfy the instant gratification monkey in my head with some League of Legends. It took me a couple days browsing twitter and looking at amazing art to become honest with myself and say that it doesn’t matter what I draw because I’m so bad at everything the improvement alone will be worth it. But two areas I know that every artist struggles with, even my better peers on the social networks, are hands and feet. I mean just look at some of my earlier work
The feet and legs are more like blobs and the hands are pretty much mittens, both needed to be improved, but I decided to go with drawing feet first.
And I know what you’re thinking eww feet gross, people find feet gross, and repulsive for some reason? Maybe because you walk on them all day and they are close to the ground? I  don’t know, but I’ve been looking at feet my whole life. . . my view of the world is often looking down at the ground. Most people will look at other people’s faces when communicating, which is something I’m trying to do now, but my whole life I’ve had terrible self esteem and probably some form of depression so I’ve gone through it avoiding eye contact. The easiest way to avoid eye contact and not run into everything and everything is to look down at the ground. This way you can still see where people are going and where objects are in the world. If you do make it out into a more open area looking up at the sky isn’t a bad option either, but your neck would get tired after a while of stargazing.
They say a lot of information is conveyed through the window to the soul, the beautiful eyes human beings, and that probably  is true, but for me I got my information by looking everywhere, but people’s faces. Which mostly was their feet. Which can convey feelings all by themselves. You can tell by the motions of legs and feet whether someone is excited, proud, or tired by the way they walk or tap their feet nervously during the middle of class. Even the type of shoes they wear can tell you a little about their personality. For girls you can tell who the pampered rich ones are by how often their toenails are perfectly painted or if they are chipping. I remember a  girl I was crushing on in highschool got a pair of fresh new white vans. . . still my favorite pair of shoes to this day. All the super liberal art theater kids wore toms. . . to help the world out or something. But yes feet can tell you a lot about a character, I think a big influence on me is my favorite animation studio Kyoani, where one of the animation directors Naoko Yamada uses images of feet and legs to describe human relationships and interactions on a regular basis.
Legs and feet can be cute,  should  be able to describe the whole character,  even actions and motion are able to be extrapolated by through the feet by are posed,  or be fetishised(but I mean what can’t now a days am I right?), but you have to be able to illustrate them well for that to happen. Some of my favorite illustrators and animators can draw characters performing a variety of actions and because they can draw feet well the characters appear grounded and real. Even actions such as falling and being weightless have the feet react in some way shape or form.
This drawing challenge began six months ago in march of 2017 I had begun this challenge thinking  I’ll be able to knock this out in 10 days if I draw 10 feet a day. Which doesn’t sound to hard and in a perfect world that might have happened. These are probably just excuses but it was a combination of school, waning motivation, frustration, and laziness that I hadn’t finished as fast that I had wanted to. The challenge also started out being a way for me to learn to digitally sketch better, and probably woulda paid off too if I stuck with using my wacom or my surface pen to do the drawings. One drawing was even in color, which I don’t know why I decided to draw that one in color? I think it had a pretty night background, that I couldn’t execute well because it was wet pavement and streetlights.
I used a variety of sources for the feet in this set here, some from anime still frames, twitter drawings, League of Legends fan arts, and even some pictures of real life subjects. It took another four months before I started to make more drawings towards the study, but eventually I decided to start doing them in my sketchbook, because there are so many extra steps involved when drawing in a program that my procrastinating self couldn’t be bothered to deal with. First of all as much as I love my Surface Pro, the battery life is not ideal, the pen has a battery that runs out, and I don’t think my version of the surface is powerful enough to draw at the resolutions I like to illustrate digitally at. The only program I have for illustrating on my surface is manga studio, which isn’t bad because one of my favorite artists redjuice999 uses it, but it is different than what I am used to. Also when drawing on the go, which I do a lot now, you have to create a new folder, file, choose the resolution/document size, save it then find it again. It was a hassle to say the least so with an investment of  a little under 10 dollars I saved myself all those extra steps and got a new sketchbook and some mechanical pencils because no sharpening pls. Another reason that I stopped drawing was I was just getting too frustrated with drawing things I’m not comfortable with, not getting anything out of LoL streaming, my art and music had netted nothing for all the work put in, I really was just frustrated with life and started hated everything I was and was doing.
When I picked it up again four months later I started looking at comic books I enjoyed, both american and Japanese artists I admired I looked at more closely. The two main ones being Pokan8 illustrator of the Yahari Ore No Seishun Love Come Wa Machigattiru and Hiro Illustrator of Akebi Chan’s Sailor Uniform. I did look at the illustrations of an hero I could not read being as the whole page was in Japanese, but it was a random stroke of luck that I found his image on Pinterest. An interesting thing happened to me a third of the way through the drawing challenge. At about the mid thirtyish drawing I found myself enjoying the process and having fun drawing feet. This really showed I think in the 30-40 drawings of the “Gothic Loli” shoes as they were called. I don’t know why but those ones turned out really good I think? Maybe I liked Rem more than I thought and no I’m not a Lolicon those were literally what the page called the shoes. During the later 25 Drawings I found myself frustrated again I thought it was because the overall proportion and drawings seemed to be off, but that wasn’t it. Looking at the drawings the overall shape is pretty good, but upon retrospection I had realized that I was getting angry at the smaller details of the foot that I had completely brushed off before. All the small curves and nooks of the feet were becoming something I was aware of at those moments, and because my mind couldn’t wrap my head around some of the most subtle curves I was frustrated again.
I drew some feet even without photo reference, but looking at people as they passed by downtown on the street. Something that would have been not possible for me doing this challenge I was able to take a quick glance at pedestrians walking and make a quick sketch of the shoes they were wearing. I tried to do some without any reference at all, but they turned out super bad so I stuffed that Idea real quick. My later drawings I tried to look for more challenging angles, and gave more attention to clean linework and putting down darker lines where I wanted and I think that shows. The lines are less chicken scratchy than the previous drawings. I’m glad that my final drawing in the challenge had a tiny bit of shared joy as I had a viewer on my stream while completing the final piece. Thanks Zukeyni!!
For some reason I felt when i completed this challenge I would be able to draw feet with no reference easily and that I would feel like a better artist. Like completing this would give me a noticeable stat in some sort of rpg, but sadly that didn’t happen. I think that I would still need a lot of reference to draw a foot that would count as passable to my current standards. But I did improve!! Maybe? I don’t know you be the judge. To get more value out of this drawing challenge I think next time I would include more more shots from movies, challenging obscure angles, and action poses where people are in motion. As feet change when people are doing things like in one of the drawings up there I used a drawing of Akebi’s Little sister Kao chan throwing a paper airplane, and because Hiro is a good artist he captures the excitement of a kid throwing a paper airplane all the way down to her cute sneakers with little birds on them.
What I learned: I could’ve got this done much faster, you get faster as you go, take it one step at a time, lastly I still have a long way to go!
The next challenge I will do is drawing 100 hands, but I will wait until doing some other art tutorials on CtrlPaint before doing another one of these tasking, but rewarding challenges.
Thanks to my stream that Supports me mentally during my fiascos.
SpectralFire, Derpiestder, Lord_Vath, and DirgeofRuin,
P.S. I think They all have secret foot fetishes . . . they watched the entire time.
The Draw 100 Art Challenge Feet As uncomfortable as it is making art and putting yourself on display, in order to grow and improve as an artist you have to start getting familiar with that feeling.
