We got infinitesimal shreds from the first season and we were like 'okay thank you, here's who these people are.' and the writers said 'Dope! we think so too!'

So many of the issues I've had with past fandoms (*cough cough the 100 cough*) involved the writers(showrunner) literally hating the fanbase and spending time actively undermining characterization and motivations the fans latched onto. The thing is, it's not just fanon -- we extrapolate from what we are shown, inferring depth from provided info. The Outer Banks team recognizes that the fans are the ones that spend the most time with the characters, and everything we saw in season 3 made so much sense. I appreciate you saying I understand them so, so deeply, because the writers agreed, too! I was so happy that we got so much of what we've already written for jiara -- JJ falling first/loving her for a long time, him pushing her away due to self-hatred/insecurity, Kiara *demanding* that he fight for them, Kiara being his safe haven, Kiara being assertive and persistent in showing up for him. It was all so excellent because we were cheering 'YES YES WE THOUGHT SO TOO!!' and it was v v beautiful to witness and be a part of.

Also, thank u, thank u very much (re the smut comment lol). I've read a *lot* of smut, fanfiction AND otherwise, and I found that fanfiction was more specific with details/realistic situations, but often lacked the depth of emotional connection you get from romance novels, so I do my best to combine the two. I so very much appreciate you recognizing the work that goes into all the smut I write!!

megumi's always been a light sleeper/had a hard time falling asleep. even when he was a baby, he'd be up like 37 times in the night, so toji and mamaguro would take turns pulling all nighters because what's the point of going to sleep when baby megumi is just gonna start crying 10 minutes later...even when he's older, he still wakes up several times in the night. it's too hot, it's too cold, i'm thirsty, the door slammed four apartments down, etc. of course this only gets worse after the detention center because he starts having nightmares :( dw, this opens the door for some cute itafushi moments down the road im writing a fic abt this

he also wakes up reaalllly early because of this, like 5am...that doesn't mean he's a morning person though. he's very grumpy and almost completely unresponsive to anyone trying to talk to him. not that anyone else is really up at 5am with him...maybe yuuji, but he's on the other side of his sleep cycle (hasn't gone to bed yet, was binge watching a new series) and probably equally zombie-like. anyway, megumi is the epitome of "don't talk to me before i've had my coffee." gojo got him a mug that said that once...

megumi didn't eat breakfast (much to tsumiki's chagrin) until he met yuuji, but that's mostly because he doesn't want to waste yuuji's efforts food :)

to add on to that, he has a pretty small appetite, my personal thought is this comes from when he was younger. he and tsumiki struggled to get food between when their money ran out post parental departure and when gojo came into their lives, so he just got used to not eating a lot...but for the same reason he'll never leave food on his plate. lingering fear that he'll wake up with nothing to eat one day (SORRY i had to make it angsty bc that's just Who I Am 💔💔💔)

um. to end it on a lighter note :) if megumi wasn't a sorcerer, he'd work at an animal rescue facility or a no-kill shelter and he's all the dogs' fav employee :))) (ik a lot of people like vet megumi, but i feel like he'd get too sad when he had to put an animal down bc he couldnt save it........). if he wasn't into that, he'd be interested in ecology and habitat preservation for endangered species.

um i was gonna do a Day In the Life of Megumi but the first points got sooo long so uh. stopped after breakfast.

Getting my brain working with these asks this morning! Sorry it took me a million years to answer these. What even is life right now? idk

Where do I get my inspiration? Gosh, all over the place! Someone can say something to me and the little lightbulb clicks on above my head. Ask me one day why Lyra’s Harvey always greets her with the very soft ‘Hello lovely’ and I’ll tell you where that came from. I can be talking with friends, maybe on Discord, coming up with head canons for a piece of art we saw perhaps and I’ll think ‘BUT WHAT IF…?’ (You should recognise that one!) Maybe I’ll see something when I am out for a walk. Also, I can be listening to music and a sound or lyric will hit juuuuust right and a little bell will chime in my brain. Very often, because I watch a lot of movies and peak tv, it can also come from the way a scene looks, from an element of set design or lighting, the way two characters interact, or from a line of dialogue and my brain tingles. For instance, the beginning of my Flower Dance fic was specifically inspired by a song and scene from Across the Spiderverse, and just recently, I was very inspired to write a moment in my long fic after seeing a specific scene in The Expanse. In some ways, it can be a little annoying to absorb these elements because I have to drop whatever I am doing and make a quick note on my phone (which is always in my back pocket for this reason) because if I don’t write it down, it will be lost to the mists of time. Particularly at the moment as I am dealing with scattered, burned out brain, but I love to find inspiration in the people and things around me. 

Do I ever worry about public reaction to what I am writing? I wouldn’t say I worry about the subject matter too much. Let’s face it, I write Harvey spice and we are a canonically thirsty community. I was EXTREMELY nervous the first time I wrote smut as I was judging myself very harshly and I also through it just wasn’t very good. (Gosh, I really wish I could re-write my first few. I guess we’re all our own worst critics.) So, I was definitely worried about the reaction back then. Not so much now as I’ve settled into that and it is now pretty much all I write. 

I do, however, get worried about two things most. First is my long fic, because it is such a sad story to begin with, and written to be very real, and I know that will put people off. Heck, I tell myself off for making two characters I love dearly so sad. WHY DID I DO THIS? But the comments I have received from readers over the last year have really touched my heart and so I hope that I can finish it soon and give it a worthy ending.

Secondly, I write an oc. I love reading other ocs. But, I know most fic readers aren’t really into that which then, by extension, makes me worry that I am writing too much of her. I have written 19 Lyra and Harvey fics in the last year. I also commission a lot of art of them. I worry that I am kinda annoying. Like that little buzzy bee that won’t fly off somewhere else. Her story is almost finished though. Two chapters of my long fic and three one-shots to go and then it’s time to move on for a little while… to another oc, Daisy! She’s in development. I’ll probably worry about public reaction to her too. 

How do I get past it? I try to remind myself that this is my hobby and is supposed to bring me joy, that I write for myself to remind myself that sometimes I CAN do it, and because I have a handful of readers that are truly kind and wonderful and seem to love reading about my girl and so I also write for them too.

my notes: okay, i am head over heels with how everyone is written here. solas' characterization is perfect, and both andruil and ghilan'nain are utterly fascinating - as individuals, in their dynamic with each other, and in the way they interact with solas in this. it's hot and messy, mind the tags, and a wonderful examination of arlathan's culture

goodbye 2022– a love letter

okay, so i am not one for long, sappy posts. in fact i think i can count on one hand the amount of times i’ve written about personal stuff on this blog, because i wanted it to be a space for me to just escape life and write for the first time.

i just wanted to make this post to say thank-you. i think i have written that word out about 1,000 times since making this account, but it will truely never be enough to express how greatful i am to have this space, and that all of you have been so fucking welcoming and kind to me.

when i started this account nine months ago, i genuinely had no idea what it would turn into. i’d been reading fanfic for most of my life, and the last few years i’ve been obsessed with the punisher and the mandalorian (not much has changed). i’ve always been the type of person to make stories in my head, especially with how much i read, it’s almost like i can’t help it. i also have taken a very big interest in writing recently, so i thought why not have a bit of fun with it and write a few chapters of a story and see where it goes.

my first official post on this account was the first chapter of the element of surprise series, and i remember getting my first few notes, and even a comment, and i nearly jumped out of my skin. every single one since then has been so special, and i still get all giddy and excited when i see someone interacting with my stories. after that i posted my first frank castle story, looking to tomorrow. i was so insecure about it, but at that point i think i had literally 0 followers, so i had NOTHING to lose.

after a few more chapters and frank one shots i started to get a little more inspired, and that is all thanks to the lovely people who cared enough to encourage me. i would have 100% stopped writing if you all hadn’t been so welcoming and amazing, and my life trajectory has seriously changed for the better. not even exaggerating.

now i’m here nine months later. i’ve finished my first series and nearly completed my second, both of which are over 85,000 words in length, which is fucking WILD. i have also written 30ish (im counting my drafts in this lmao) stand alone fics, and did my first ever celebration, writing out a bunch of requests (which i still actually have three or four in my drafts. trust me they are coming i’m just slow pls).

“Don’t you laugh at me, you overgrown tin can!” You spit as you continue to try to shake off the sensation of bugs crawling on you. The doors of the Razor Crest finally close, locking out the hellish planet you were on as you gave an exaggerated sigh of relief.

The huffing coming from the modulator quieted down, but you could still see the shaking of the Mandalorian’s shoulders as he laughed at your reaction.

“They were fucking huge!” You growl, defending yourself against the growing wave of embarrassment.

You didn’t mind bugs. The normal ones, smaller than your thumb. Disgusting, to be sure, but easily ignored or squashed. It also helped that you weren’t in any one location long enough for bugs to make their way onto the Crest.

You kept it clean, or a least as blood free as possible. Sometimes you had to scrub the ramp or the cargo bay free of the blood that came as a result of the bounty hunting he did. Mando had saved your life, sometimes you felt like that was literally the case. Plucking you off a backwater planet and letting you accompany him, keeping the Crest running to allow him more time to hunt down his prey. It was a good deal for both of you.

Until today.

Today was the day that would go down in history as the worst day possible. It was disgusting. Creepy, crawly things. This planet was littered with them. And they didn’t even hesitate in crawling all over you.

He didn’t even seem bothered by them. Of course every inch of his skin was protected by thick layers of duraweave material and beskar. He probably didn’t even feel the horrible sensations of them. His skin was not exposed to the sensations of being run over by thousands of feet.

“It wasn’t that bad.”

“It wasn’t that bad?” Your voice climbs as you shake your head. “It wasn’t that bad!? It was HORRIBLE!”

His shoulders were shaking again, the raspy laugh coming out rusty from the modulator. At least you could make him laugh.

“The squeals you were making were pretty grating on my hearing.” Mando teases between chuckles. “That was horrible.”

“Oooof, you - you-” You go to stalk away, storm off to some other part of the ship where he can’t make fun of you anymore. Jerk.

A leather clad hand wraps around your wrist and tugs you back to him. Your back thuds against the beskar covering his chest, his arms coming around you. “You were putting out some pretty unique dance moves too.” The humor was still evident in his voice as he kept you pinned to him.

“Di’kut” You spit out.

“At least your Mando’a is getting better, cyare.” His hand reaches up to run up and down your arms briskly. “Don’t worry, I’ll protect you from the ‘huge’ bugs from now on.” He promises.

“You better.”

“I guess that means a vacation on Planet P is off. They have huge brain bugs there.” He huffs. “I was looking forward to it.”

Because he’s not hiding anything he’s able to interact with your page freely and most of the time his retweets get more likes than your tweet because he’s just randomly thirsty without it having anything to do with your og tweet. 

He tries tik tok trends on you and reposts it on his twitter as well. He tried the “getting naked in front of partner” challenge while you were in the middle of working at your desk at home and you just looked at him like “Put some clothes on HOE” while laughing and getting back to work. 

He posts Boyfriend ASMR POVs but most of them are like self-indulgent fanfiction and he’s talking to “[Name]” instead of making it open to everyone. 

Everyone in Class 1-A clowns him so hard for this. 

Present Mic plays one of them during his radio one day as a request from a listener and he had to leave the room but since he’s so loud his laughter was basically the only thing people hear.
