I know this convo was awhile ago but as a twst f2p, a lesser man's hairline would've receded by this point. I only really pull for Idia and Cater, so I've been pretty okay so far but. The club cater banner + the Idia dorm uniform not even being that far away from Caters bday may just take my scalp. If they both take me to task I'm going to walk into the forest, find a fresh, damp patch of soil, and lay face down until the earth takes me home for I will have truly felt the height of human emotion and every triumph and failure that ensues afterwards will feel like a poor imitation of true passion. Anyway the tsum event looks really cute so far, did you pull for anyone here?? I haven't seen Leona's card yet, but I know it's going to bulldoze me
oh yeah i feel you. id pull a lot more if not for the super speed at which en gets things. i had to skip bday cater this year because i KNEW in my bones that his club card would make me go to pity. and it did... then tsum cater refused me in the free roll so i had to spend saved funds on him again!! feels bad mannn T_T
prob skipping dorm idia because i need time to breathe darn it. sad noises. my poor skrunkle.
they really need to hand out more gems if theyre speeding up all these stinking banners!
i got all 4 banner tsum cards on jp so i didnt really feel the need to roll for them again, thank goodness. i did go for cater ofc... cant resist a blorbo with a tinier blorbito!!!
i really like the leona tsum card. one of my fav leonas atm. as nice as the groovy is, the first form is just so cuteeee and i like it better.
for now im waiting on the apple boa event whenever the heck theyre gonna drop that. give me firE braiD idiA.

→ Playlist [recommended]
The sound of the rain was supposed to calm you down, not make you even more anxious and sweaty and you sat with your legs firmly pressed against each other, hoping to fill in the lack of company you were feeling amongst the swarm of people who perhaps shared the same dreams, same aim as yours. Public places as trains, trams, bus stops; you always thought they portrayed as the perfect definition for the word ‘sonder.’ Each individual having a life pretty much as complex as yours — sometimes a little less or sometimes a little more. It fascinated you.
“Do you think the trip is worth it?” Lee Jeno, your best friend of quite a few years puffs his cheeks as he stared dubiously at the red and white poster he held. You took a peek at it, the amount of times Jeno had been pestering you if he should really give up the money he had saved for PS5 as a sacrifice for this trip, it was safe enough for you to say that you had every words printed on it memorized. Well, maybe not every words but the main stuff at least.
“Lee Jeno,” You sharply gawked at the male sitting beside you, earning an ugly grimace from him. “Stop it already. I don’t know about you but I ain’t passing this chance.”
“Wah, what a nice friend I got.” You failed to notice the dramatic eye roll he makes before shoving the poster in his backpack, the one he had been using since the first day you had befriended him. Was it 5 years? 6 years?
“Are we five years or six years?” But I met him on that bookstore down my neighborhood, that was like spring of 2017 and now it’s 2021.
The male let out a snort. “If I am a five year-old then you are definitely still inside the womb.” Even though he was smiling with that ‘innocent eye smile’ the evil smirk sheathed beneath went unnoticed by you. No sooner had he opened his mouth, a fresh harsh smack landed on his arms that were clad in a filmsy material of cotton and thus a silent yelp of pain escaping from him as he grabbed the area which was starting to sting with each passing second. The smack, albeit meant for him, you were unable to ignore the similar stinging pain in your palm, tears pricking in the corners of your eyes. But you made sure to show absolutely no signs of distress; it was somewhat a matter of childish pride for you.
“Change your career aim from a perfumist to an assassinator will you?” If it were the campus grounds, you two would have already been latched at one another throats; both metaphorically and literally.
“I will gladly not.” You huffed at the male whose eyes held a scornful gaze, now even more annoyed or perhaps, as you would think most of the times, he was just exaggerating. You found yourself mindlessly scrolling through your gallery in search of the recent notes from Mr. Kim’s classes. Until you stumble across something you had been long avoiding, a forlorn fragment from the former days of your high school.
“Here lies the proof of my utmost love and affection, always devoted to my only Y/N.”
It was a picture of you smiling way too bright, cheeks and nose flushed red while being squished by the only male in the frame as he pressed a peck against your cheek. His neck was craned to the side, ripe ears clearly visible in the small Polaroid film. As much as you hated to admit, your heart would still make flips and turns whenever you run into something that reminded you of him, your very first love and first heart break—Jung Sungchan.
Jeno was too busy in his dreamland as he dozed off with his head resting peacefully against your shoulder. It was no new news that the lad had been immensely in love with you ever since the first time you saved him from getting bullied back in 9th grade. However, you were always too busy with your academics and extra-curricular activities and thus clearly drawing a line of only being friends. Nothing else. It happened when Jeno had finally mustered up the courage after excelling in his Maths Olympiad, where he made a bet that if he indeed secures a place in the top 5, you have to abide by anything he wishes for. But he wished for your love, something you were not really capable of doing so; especially at that time. You did not have the heart to say no when Jeno jogged up to you, his eyes transforming into crescents as he smiled wide. “I did it!” His words came out rather breathy, possibly because of him running to you, and maybe because how hard he could feel his heart thump against his ribs when he noticed the proud grin on your face. Without wasting any moment further, Jeno lets go of the white banner of achievement he had been holding, his hands now focusing on yours. You could almost feel the slight tremble and the wetness of his sweaty palms, but before you could even say anything he beat to you by saying, “Go out on a date with me. Only one.”
There were numerous times when you felt guilty about turning down Jeno. At times it had you baffled that why a guy like him would ever bother liking you so much. Jeno was incredibly talented; gifted with unfair boon of genius traits in both academics and athletics. His little version of him always demeaned his abilities, often failing to notice that how much more he was rather than just a quiet kid who loved coding and maths. Maybe perhaps that was the very reason for him to face the bullying, at least that’s what you thought when you first noticed him getting cornered by some stupid idiot dipshits from your class during recess. Jeno’s ID card lay discarded on the ground, as Kihyun grabbed its owner by the collar. You could not understand his reason for not fighting back, and thus being a silent spectator was never your thing so you decided to butt in. As much as you equally hated and liked one thing, boys seemed to get kinda wary of your presence. Especially boys like these who were already in the blacklist of the teachers. It did not take them long to pick their asses and run from the site when you glared them with a threatening gaze, a single word from the class president and they would get suspended yet again for the umpteenth time in the year. You crouched down to Jeno’s level, carefully handing him his ID. You did not bother asking him if he was okay, of course he wasn’t. His face showed signs of previous injuries, the purple hues of bruises slightly fading beside his jaws. You still don’t know why but you felt the need to protect him from his solace, thus leading to this inseparable bond of yours.
But that was a version of him that was long forgotten. Jeno had become the star and face of the school in the last years of your highschool. Acing various quiz competitions, Olympiads, getting highest grades, being the captain of the soccer and basketball team; you were sure God really had His favorites.
You were not surprised when Jeno brought you to your usual favourite—candle shop. It was a hidden gem in your hometown, a small secluded shop located just a few miles away from the metropolitan. Not everyone was aware of its existence until that one day you decided to act rebellious for once in your school life. Of course dragging Jeno into this so called rebel act with you. The date was rather casual, just two friends messing around with wax and chemically named perfume essences. The shop was owned by a lady close to your grandma’s age, and it still makes you wonder how on earth was she able to keep up with the hollering you two were making. No matter how much you convinced yourself that maybe you could give the boy a chance, and perhaps feelings might grow on you later on; you could not make yourself cloud your rationality with the uncertain possibilities. You confessed every single thing that had been on your mind and Jeno just calmly listened to everything you uttered. You could clearly see the expression of hurt washing over his face, but he knew you. He knew that once you had made up your mind, there was no going back. The night did not cause any indifference in your friendship; it bloomed with each passing years of your middle school and then highschool. You two had become the infamous bestfriends, the once timid boy then all buff and handsome and the once spotlight lover girl then buried in her textbooks to pass the college entrance exams.
Throughout these years of teen, the candle shop had become a constant place for anything to you both; sadness, comfort or just enjoyable times. Until that one day when you met the grandson of the lady who owned the shop. Make a guess who it was.
When people spoke of their first heartbreak, you always cringed at how they exaggerated. Technically you never experienced one, so it seemed ridiculous to you that how was it possible to a simple break to cause others this much pain. You were shocked, no scratch that. Using fancy words, you were utterly bewildered when you saw the new transfer student—Jung Sungchan was the name, standing on the makeshift podium of your classroom. Thank God the architects decided to stick to keeping the height of the room above eight feet. You had changed drastically, contrasting your previous bubbly persona, you had become more reserved. It was just you being ambitious about something you had grown to like, and after some backstabs from your friends, you did not feel the need to have so many around you. Just Jeno being there for you was more than enough.
It would be a lie if Jeno did not sense the subtle looks you had been sending over to the new guy, but he was in no place to object you. It had only been a few moments of Sungchan’s arrival and Jeno already sensed his position in your life being threatened. He knew you were a saint who always looked out for others, and something about his presence made Jeno feel wary. Jeno did not need any of the privileges he had, all of it he owed to you after all. It was you who brought the best out of him, and in the end if he has them all but not you, it wasn’t clearly worth it to him. You preferred unpredictable things; it was what he learned about you in all your years of friendship. How you would always choose mystery thrillers over typical rom-coms, how you would always vouch for the new dish in the menu every time you both visited the local barbecue house. And he knew it was impossible to be one like that, it was just typical Taurus things (as he would like to blame) that made him too practical, too predictable for you. But, you never thought like that. It was just that even though you wanted to, you couldn’t make yourself grow romantic towards the boy you always shared your oreos and ramen with. He held a dear place in your heart and life.
Sungchan was immediately welcomed to the family, the girls already swooning over his good looks and amazing grades. Plus icing on the top, he was the half-brother of the infamous Jung Yoonoh, the heartthrob of the whole school, from juniors to seniors. While Jaehyun was the typical definition of being that one dude we always see in rom-coms who is loved and admired by all for his too humble personality and ethics, Sungchan on the other hand was more of a quiet one, often too shy properly open up his orginal self around new environment. Despite that, he was naturally amiable just like his brother, a trait that perhaps ran in the Jung household. Unlike Jaehyun who was presumably born with good brains, Sungchan was a hardworking one. Sungchan tried to settle down the queasy feeling he had been feeling ever since he moved back here, now that Jaehyun was always busy in Seoul with his medical degree someone had to look after their aging grandma. Sungchan was never really a part of any group, so leaving behind his school back in the city was not that painful for him. The atmosphere of the whole campus was pretty soothing; the bushes of neatly trimmed trees, big huge playground and the ochre shaded building. He liked all of it, and to top it all the uniform was really his style: solid crème and dark maroon combination.
When Sungchan stood awkwardly in the middle of the classroom, clearly clueless as to where he would be seating since all the seats were occupied, a soft voice called out his name rather eagerly. His eyes scanned for a while until he saw you; dark hair tied up neatly into a ponytail with a pencil in your hand as you waved him to notice the empty seat beside yours. Sungchan smiled at your sweet gesture, his out of place feeling now subsiding into the warmth of the possible blooming friendship.
“Hi there, I am Y/N.” You chirped, wiping your left hand before bringing it out for him to shake. Sungchan froze for a while before he realized what he was supposed to be doing. “Oh! And this is Jeno!” You turned slightly towards your best friend sitting just behind you with his famous eye smile.
“Hello, I am Jung Sungchan.” He returned the gesture shaking both your and Jeno’s hand. Whilst Jeno had the feeling of roughness and athleticism in his, your hands were warm and soft; it felt nice he thought. That was the first impression of yours to him: ball of sunshine. And your impression of him? Reserved and unpredictable; a combination that only meant chaos and imbalance.
Sungchan side-glanced at your fumbling state. Seating next to him you in the front row, you skimmed over your not so pleasant looking notes that you had scribbled anxiously in the prior night. Public speaking had never been a big deal for you once you get adjusted to the audience after going up on stage. However, it is the pre anxiety session that just always riles you up.
“You know,” Your head whipped a bit too fast to your liking at the voice belonging to the only male that sat beside you. “I’ll show you a trick. Here.” Sungchan proceeded to softly place your trembling hands on his, cautiousness apparent with every move he made. Even though you both had been seatmates for the last three months, you never found yourself involved in any sort of skinship with him; something that was really common for you and Jeno. The look of fluster was way too obvious when Sungchan softly rubbed various shapes on the back of your hand with his thumb, you were unsure if he was actually helping you ease from nervousness or just increasing it further. It had quite been a while since you had your hands caged in his, both of you completely unaware of the looks you had been getting from your senior teachers seated in the neighboring row. The moment was cut off when your name was announced from the stage by a senior, requesting your presence to commence your speech. Sungchan slowly lets go of your hands, mumbling a soft ‘best of luck!’ with his hands now fisted as an act of verbal encouragement. You eyes wandered around the crowd for a while before locating your best friend who sat miserably beside the homeroom teacher, really closing to dozing off before noticing your presence and copying Sungchan’s gestures.
The bus paused, Jeno still deep in his slumber despite the harsh jerk of the vehicle stopping in its tracks. You sighed, he must have probably been gaming the whole night with his roommate Donghyuck again. You nudged softly at first, the lack of response later than causing you to shake him vigorously by his toned arms that barely fit in your palms. Jeno instantly sprinted up with wide eyes before softly muttering a curse at your cruel way of waking him up.
“I was definitely right about you being a torturer in your previous life.”
“Sure you were. Get your ass off the bus now.”
You parted your ways with Jeno on the campus ground, him heading to his coding facult while you headed towards the chemistry club room. Apparently a newbie was supposed to come today from the US. It was odd you assumed since US had much better facilities for students majoring in chemistry. You glanced at your figure on your way to the room, wondering if the ripped jeans were a good choice as a first impression. You just disliked the idea of leaving off bad impressions, even if you are never going to meet the person again until your next life. Jaemin, another close friend of both you and Jeno smiled widely at your entrance, waving his hand as he pointed the seat next to him enthusiastically. Jaemin and you were basically clones of each other, the leos inside of you both shinig at its best whenever you two are together.
“I don’t understand why move back here from THE United States.” Jaemin dragged out the word, scoffing silently as he handed you a cup of iced Americano. You were about to sip before pausing. You could not have possibly risked your stomach again after that one fateful day when you tasted ‘his type’ of iced Americano. This dude legit gulped down eight espresso shots with a satisfied hum, horrified looks painted on your and Jeno’s features as you both just stared at him in utter shock.
“Please not the poisonous drink.” You eyed the male suspiciously, who scoffed at the nickname.
“Of couse not little baby.” Jaemin cooed with his lips puckered and an annoying high pitched voice, purposefully pinching your cheeks a bit harder than he usually does.
“You little moth-”
“Hello guys, I am Sungchan. Nice to meet you all.” Your heart dropped at the familiar tone of voice. He isn’t possibly back again after leaving without any traces, without a single goodbye, is he? You did not dare to look at his figure standing in front of the table, awkwardly shifting in your seat while Jaemin furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.
“Hello, Sungchan.” Sulli, your senior by 2 years and also the president of the club greeted him warmly. “I hope you like it here because adjusting to a new place might be hard at times. Oh, these are your classmates; Y/N and Jaemin.”
Sungchan immediately looked in your direction at the mention of your name, his eyes equally wide in surprise mirroring your previous reaction.
“Y/N?” He called out in a rather unsure tone, just like his movements the cautiousness was also present there. “It’s been……a while….”
“Yeah, indeed.” You had a visible change in demeanor, Jaemin finally grasping the tense situation before jogging up to the male.
“Hi there, I am Na Jaemin. You can call me Nana if you want.” Jaemin put his hand out as a formality, to which Sungchan politely complied. “There’s a seat there you can sit.” Jaemin was luckily wise enough to occupy the empty seat beside yours without knowing the turn of events. He motioned Sungchan towards the seat diagonal to you, sensing the discomfort in your posture he assumed it was best if Sungchan sat somewhat further.
Concentrating on the yearly planning for the club was harder with his presence; Sungchan unable to hide his obvious lingering gaze on you. Jaemin would cough every now and then, signaling the male to focus on the club president’s instructions instead of you. But as his usual self, Sungchan pretended to not notice the clear hints, continuing keep his eyes locked on yours. You were barely able to note down some important events, knowing that Jaemin certainly cannot be trusted with his short time memory. After that president bids her farewell to everyone present in the room, you take it as your cue to just flee as soon as possible from his reach.
“Y/N, wait!” Sungchan was quick to grab you just as you were about to exit by the door, the sudden halt in movement causing you to stumble back into his embrace awkwardly. You were definitely embarrassed, your back pressed against his chest in a weird manner as you straighten yourself again. You scrunched you nose to hide your embarrassment before asking him.
“What is it now Jung Sungchan?” You were not meaning to snap at him, but the bitter memories of the past seemed to get the best of you.
Sungchan slightly winced at your cold tone, but what else could have expected after all the pain he had caused you. “I…I do..I mean like I..”
“Sungchan, I have my classes. Gather up your thoughts and then talk.” With that you turned on your heels, not even bothering to take your bag that you left on the seat you were prior sitting. Jaemin observed the scene quietly, his minds finally connecting the dots. Jung Sungchan, the boy you would always cry about whenever you got drunk, the boy who left you with nothing but memories of him. Jaemin thought it was best to not let out his inner frustration towards the guy who was now standing motionless in his tracks, lost in his trance as he gaped towards the door you had just left. Jaemin passed by Sungchan without a word, instinctively grabbing your bag as he made his way to his next class.
Sungchan stood dumbfounded, numerous thoughts racing in his mind. Why did I have to be so foolish? He thought. How can I blame her when I was the one who broke the promise first?
Summer 2017
It was getting pretty boring for you at the library; usually some of the classmates bickering would give you some sort of silent company as you scribble down the notes. But for some unfound reason you seemed to be extremely distracted. You let out a long annoyed huffed, hands stretching in weird directions as you rested your head on the wooden table. It struck your mind there might be butts of nails pointed out and you didn’t want to get yourself a shot of tetanus, so you lazily glided your hands across the surface before returning back to your half laying position. It didn’t take long for you to zone out, mind running through various scenarios of university life, jobs and perhaps marriage? You blushed at the thought, just like any other teen you were also low-key always looking forward to your wedding.
“Are you asleep?” You shot up startled at the sudden voice, eyes immediately widening as you realized the owner. Sungchan had a smile with his lips pressed into a thin line, casually pulling out the empty seat beside yours as he made himself comfortable on it.
“Good to know you’re not. I need your help.” Sungchan wasted no time rummaging out a stack of sheets from his backpack, pressing them against the wood with a loud thump. You slightly winced at the loudness since the library was extra quiet today, the sound thus bouncing off more.
“You know if it’s literature, I suck at it.” Your mind took you back at that one time when you almost got yourself a C on the mentioned subject, chills running down at the memory.
“No, no.” Sungchan waved his hands softly chuckling. “It’s actually chemistry. Judging as a seatmate, I believe it’s your best sport.”
You happily nodded at the male, pleased that you get to help him with something that was under your specialty. Sungchan took a notice of your happy state, equally pleased that it was you that would be helping him.
“Tell me, what can I help you with.” You took the fat book from his hold, skimming over the contents page before highlighting the topics that were extremely important for the semester.
“I think hybridization? I just can’t seem to get how it works!” Sungchan’s voice levitated suddenly out of frustration, momentarily catching you off guard. Sungchan seemed to notice your amused look, shyly rubbing the nape of his neck with a little shrug.
“You know this is the first time I’ve seen you frustrated.” You commented, eyes fixated on the pages even though they were being extremely reluctant to rather focus on the fussy male. “It’s pretty easy you know. Look.” You explained him cautiously and slowly, how the overlapping of the orbitals occurred not realizing the proximity that seemed to lessen drastically. You whipped at his direction to see any signs of confusion, only to be met with a pair of dark orbs that stared at you intently. As embarrassing as it may sound, you gulped loudly. A bit too loud than you had intended to.
Sunghcan took notice of the situation you both blanketed in as a wave of déjà vu washed over him. He cleared his throat loud and awkward, half to lessen the embarrassment you were feeling and to poorly hide his own. You both were looking everywhere but each other, too dumb to maximize the close distance instead of acting like awkward cats.
“What are you both doing?” a deep male voice jerked you back to reality, upon turning you saw it belonged to Jeno. When did he come here?
“She was explaining the hybridization shits.” Sungchan huffed, slowly settling back to his orginal position. “I asked you so many times though…”
“You know chemistry is not my cup of tea.” Jeno shrugged at the male, a lazy smile playing on his face. “You wanna stay for b-ball practice today?”
“Not sure, I’ll see to it mate.” Sungchan did that fist-bump with Jeno, the two casually mingling like old friends as you stared idiotically at the scene unfolding in front of you.
“Since when did you both become Damon and Pythias?”
“Y/N, please not again your alien languages.” Jeno rolled his eyes before taking the seat beside, sandwiching you between both the males. “Since you happen to be tutoring a clown, an addition of another clown won’t do you any harm.” Jeno smiled at you, his doe eyes disappearing in the process.
Sungchan held back his snort, looking over both of you, he was happy. Though he was not as close to you as he had become to Jeno, he still considered you somewhat a close friend of his. Being seatmates with you and Jeno, it was inevitable that he soon became a constant in your life. Did I tell you that the candle shop was owned by his grandma? The shop if anything, had become this secret spot for you three. Study dates, random chills or just lazying around, the candle shop would be the first name that would pop up in your mind.
With a blink of an eye perhaps junior year passes. Maybe that was how last years of highschool were. At one moment you barely just got promoted to a new class, and at another, you’re yet again getting promoted to higher one. You sat under the dull moonlight, a thin cardigan that was gifted to you by your dearest friend’s grandma. When Sungchan invited you and Jeno at his, his grandma had knitted this cardigan for you and a beanie for Jeno. The gesture was so sweet that it completely melted your heart, she was the living definition of wholesome for you.
It was maybe that one day when you three decided to stroll the spring fair of your neighborhood, when you both finally came clean to your feelings. Jeno was always the one pointing you out that how you should just be a woman and confess. “It doesn’t always have to be the guy that says I LIKE YOU!” This what we he said before disappearing into the hives of crowds, leaving you waiting for Sungchan at the front of the public toilet he was finishing his business in. Pretty awkward right? Where else does anyone get to see a girl waiting for her crush in front of a public restroom. Sungchan came back outside, shuffling out his handphone before furrowing his brows at the text he just received. You immediately understood it was from Jeno. You had no idea what came over you, it felt like the adrenaline in your system decided to flood your nervous system, not even aware of yourself just launching at the dude with a chaste kiss on his lips. He was completely taken aback by the sudden feeling of your lips on his, it took him a while before responding you back with the same enthusiasm. You broke first from the kiss, not realising your fists crunching his prior perfectly ironed shirt. But he did not mind it all, a shy smile playing on both of your faces. The rest of the night was spent with your hands laced in his, just like another high school sweethearts of the time.
You smiled at the memory. Sungchan had a cigarette lit between the tips of his fingers, the tobacco smoke slowly poking your nose but not strong enough to bother you. With a deep sigh, he took a puff before blowing it own again in the air, a cloud of smog dancing around his figure.
“You should quit it, it’s not healthy.” It had already been a year since you became friends and six months since you became more than it, but there were times like this when you still found yourself nervous and wary whenever you are talking to him. You snuggled yourself into the cardigan, hugging yourself to minimize the tinges of frostbites. Sungchan was considerate of your discomfort, whenever he smoked, he made sure the cigarette was at least 2 feet away from you.
“Take this.” Sungchan handed you another thick layer of clothing from his bag, his initials “J.SG” written big and bold. Without much thought, you accepted his kindness, and Sungchan had high tolerance to cold anyways unlike you who would shiver to death in the most usual temperatures. You figured Sungchan decided to dodge the topic you brought it, and you figured it would be better to not bring it up for a while.
“Where do you plan on going for college.” Sungchan spoke while rubbing the shortened cigarette on the bricks of the roof, swallowing the remaining water from his bottle throwing a strawberry gum inside his mouth. You figured he was now free from the reek of tobacco as you scoot closer to his form, opening your arms within the jacket for his to snuggle in as well. Just like Jeno, skinship was no new news for you both too, however; it always had your heart racing like crazy. You both remained cozy under the warm embrace of the jacket, and you prayed Sungchan would never listen how your pulse was acting up.
“I don’t know. Perhaps SNU? I mean only if I get accepted...” You trailed off, propping your chin against your bent knees before glancing at the boy. Then it struck you, what made him ask this sudden question, what made him smoke three cigarettes straight despite having yearly break for a whole month. “Will you be going to the US as well?”
“I don’t know...” Sungchan deeply sighed, his lips forming a small pout as he indulged in deep thought. What if he actually happens to leave for America? Your heart clenched at the thought, mimicking his sighs you rested your head against his shoulder.
“You know,” You stared at the sky, it was dark and clear with no signs of stars. The feeling was unsettling. “Wherever you go, we’ll always be there for you.” Your eyes shifted to the illuminating lights from numerous buildings that replaced the absence of the twinkling stars in the sky. The ominous feeling soon dissipated into relief. It was as if the universe telling you, we just have to look out for the good sides instead of dwelling on the bad.
“I know.” Sungchan smiled, one that was both happy and sad. He rested his head on yours, joining your company of gazing at the scenery. “I know.”
“Just...” there was hesitation laced in your tone, Sungchan was quick to notice it as he looked at you, nodding for you to continue. “Please don’t leave...not without a goodbye. Promise me that.”
“I promise you.” Sungchan held your cold hands in his warmer ones, a firm assurance making your heart swell in both hurt and adoration as you kissed him again.
You both never really made it official, despite the kiss at the fair. It was perhaps the uncertainty that held you both back. Sungchan’s future was not in his hands but his family’s; just like his brother, he is supposed to make his family shine bright. It was one of the major reasons why his parents let both the brothers two years of freedom on their remaining bits of high school. ‘All parents want the best for their kids,’ that’s what you would always say to him whenever you meet him at his roof; him smoking while you offered his physical comfort.
The senior year passed within a whim, the fright of entering into adulthood descending upon all the students as they remained buried in their textbooks. Maybe it wasn’t the case for everyone, but it did apply to you and your friends. You remained occupied with you daily extra classes for chemistry while Sungchan had biology and Jeno had mathematics. You three would meet up in periodic breaks, catching up with small talks before returning back to your respective schedules. It was nothing but hectic, and soon, the candle shop returned back to being just another isolated shop in your hometown.
Graduation day was filled with smiles and congratulatory phrases from different individuals, throwing your grad caps in the air felt like as if you were throwing away a significant part of your life, ready to embrace a new version of you. All the parents stood their with proud grins, delighted at their children’s achievement to their dreams.
“Congratulations!” You chirped, receiving bone crushing hugs from both your males before an elderly voice called for you.
“Y/N! Jeno! Sungchan!” It was your mom, waving excitedly to grab you and the males’ attention. “Say cheese!”
“Cheese!” You all resonated together, happy and delighted.
A series of furious knocks jolted you awake from your sleep. You figured it might have been your younger brother, probably wanting your help in his homework.
“I swear to god Y/b/n!” You let out an ear piercing shout, groggily rubbing your eyes from deep slumber.
“It’s me. Jeno.” You heard how breathy his voice sounded, it was coated with urgency and hurt. You heart dropped but you prayed to the Heavens and God, you prayed that it should not be the very thing that you had been dreading so much. You shot up from your bed, not even bothering to make yourself look presentable before whipping the door open to meet with an equally dazed and riled Jeno.
“It’s Sungchan. He...” Jeno beathed out a deep sigh, before handing you a lilac envelope, the initials J.SG written in bold. You failed to feel the tears pooling up, threatening to fall anytime. Jeno glanced over you sympathetically, with shaky trembling hands, you took the the paper.
You don’t bother to closer the door, Jeno soon taking his leave as he thought it would be best to give you some space to absorb it all in. The tears had started to stream uncontrollably when you saw the picture that came with the letter. It was one of the many pictures that you took on the night of the fair; the day you had confessed, the you had your first kiss. It was a polaroid of you holding him lovingly in an embrace, him shyly placing a kiss on your cheeks with the words ‘Here lies the proof of my utmost love and affection, always devoted to my only Y/N’ scribbled on the white frame. Your hands fished for your cellphone, frantically dialing his number as you waited for him to pick up, hoping that he’ll soothe your anxiety by saying he did not leave, that he was still in town and you were just being delusional.
But every time you dialed his contact, you were being forwarded to the monotonous tone saying that the number was currently unreachable. Your chest squeezed in pain, he had promised you. He promised you that he will come for a goodbye at least. He had promised you that he would never leave you clueless and hurting. All you ever asked for him, was just a goodbye; perhaps a source assurance for you to wait for his return.
You wiped the tears with the edge of your sleeves, opening the the piece of folded paper.
‘Dear lovely Y/N,
You might resent me when you receive this letter, and I certainly don’t blame you for that. I am not the best with words, I am clumsy and unexpressive but I hope that this piece of scribblings makes you understand all my feelings, my thoughts and emotions that have been haunting me from the day I first saw you.
You know I that I am very much aware that I do....hold some handsome genes.’ You couldn’t help but snicker at this.
‘However, unlike all, as typical as it may sound, you stood out. You lazily laid sprawling across your desk in deep slumber, completely unaware of the chaos of classroom. I wish I was that carefree like you, indulged in her own world and comfort bubble. It attracted me a lot.’ You got up from the floor, eyes still glued to the piece of paper as you shut your door locked. Your hands still went to dial his contact, but only to be forwarded to that damned robotic voice.
‘I wanted to be like you, not bothered by the constant pressures of coming from a prestigious family. Did I ever tell you my dad is the Director of Myeongsu Hospital?’ You gasped at the sudden information. His dad was the director of the one of the most prestigious and renowned hospitals of South Korea. It was too overwhelming for you to process, but you still found yourself continuing.
‘It was inevitable for me to act like just another teenager, not for me but for my brother too. I always blamed him for being so selfish when he just left me alone when he came to grandma, I failed to realize that it was some sort of comfort gift from our parents so that we’ll devote ourselves to build the family’s name for the rest of our lives.
Even though I wanna blame them, I don’t think I can because they had the same fate. It comes with a price when you’re born with a silver spoon, and I guess I had to pay mine when I left your doorstep last night. I...I was a coward. I know I should have just come up, hug you and kiss you for the last time. But I just couldn’t. I was too scared.
I was scared that the moment I’ll see you, my guards will crash down. These two days were really hectic for me, I made up excuses when you invited me at yours because I was afraid of losing my balance. I knew that only a glance at you would be enough to make me change my mind and revolt against my parents, my fate. And you have no idea how much I wanted to do so, you have no idea how I’ve spent endless of sleepless night where it is the only thing that would run on my mind. But you tell me, would it be really worth it? I did not want you spending the rest of your lives with swarming paps and reporters, publishing reports and articles of how you managed to tarnish the heir-in-line of the prestigious hospital. No I could never do to that someone I love so dearly. I could never in a thousand years do that.
You know every time I picture you in your grown-up self, I can only see a strong and confident woman thriving in her career, a woman that is so powerful but still has a heart of gold. I know that you’ll be an amazing person, inside and out. I wasn’t really planning to express my love and admiration for you like this, I hoped to do it in person, but perhaps, maybe that’s how the stars planned it out for us. Fate is extra cruel in my case don’t you think?
It would be extremely selfish of me to ask you to wait; I am not even sure if I would ever return because my father would be opening another branch in US. And well, I am not sure what plans he has for me.
So please, if you ever find it in your heart, I hope you will forgive me. And even if you don’t, please don’t ever feel guilty about it. You have all the right to do so and I most certainly deserve your hatred. I love you so much, Y/N. You’re my first kiss, my first love, and you’ll always hold this irreplaceable place in my heart.
With Love,
Jung Sungchan.
You felt your world crashing down, a part of you wished that this letter never ended. The only remain from him had also come to an end, and you were not sure how you would be able to cope with his absence for the next years of your life.
Present
“Sungchan is back?” Jeno widened his eyes in shock, the information seemingly unbelievable to him. “He really is?”
“Yes.” You monotonously replied, numerous thoughts battling at the back of your head. Jaemin cleared his throat, a sign for Jeno to not bring up the topic for a while. Jeno eyed the male in confusion before finally getting the hint.
“You’re lucky you don’t get to have Mr.Suh’s classes, he’s just hot and it’s frustrating. And that’s coming from a straight dude like me.” Jeno slurped on his smoothie loud and sound, probably to annoy the other male as he was well aware his distaste to people making sounds while eating.
“Y/N.” a voiced called out from behind, and you instantly knew who it belonged to.
“Sungchan. Oh my god!” Jeno shot up from his seat, immediately embracing the old face from his past. “How have you been man? You just disappeared...”
“I am so sorry.” Sungchan looked at Jeno with pleading eyes. “I know I have absolutely no excuse for my act and I am just so sorry, Jeno and Y/N.” Sungchan looked at Jeno who silently urged him to talk to you.
“Y/N, please talk to me. I don’t expect your forgiveness but please. Atleast curse me, hit me just do anything. Please.”
You whipped your head to find Sungchan crouching down to match your seat level, a sigh escaping from you as you stood straight from your seat.
“Guys, I’ll be back.” You gripped his hands before dragging him alongside the canteen corridor.
Jaemin looked over his friend who stood staring at the way you just took. And expressionless look was painted on his features, causing Jaemin to shake his head and sigh. “You know man,” Jeno changed his attention to the male speaking, fixing his glasses. “If I were you, I would have just held her back. You’re extremely strong, I could have never done that.” With that Jaemin patted his friend’s back, a silent assurance that if he needed a shoulder to cry or to simply lean on for comfort, he’ll be there for him.
A mixture of feelings were erupting inside you, you were furious but happy. Sad but grateful. You scanned the halls for signs of any empty classroom and upon finding one you just shoved the male inside it.
“What’s so funny about messing with my feelings?” You already tears welling up, your vision blurry as you sharply glance at the male with a frown on his face.
“Y/N, I would nev-”
“You left me,” you utterly hated at how pathetic you sounded at the moment, harshly wiping the tears streaming down your cheeks. “You promised me that you won’t leave without showing up one last time, but you did. You fucking did.” You knew it was not something under his control, but you couldn’t help but pour your bottled feelings.
“Please...Y/N...listen..to me...Please..” Sungchan lost his composure, his voice breaking as he stepped closer to you. Seeing how you did not flinch at his approach, Sungchan captivated you in his embrace, something that he had been yearning for ever since he parted ways. You felt the wetness of his tears on your head, melting in his longing embrace you found yourself hugging him back. You missed him so much, his scent, warmth, presence. Everything about him drove you crazy, you were still dazed to believe if he was actually back for real or is it just one of your numerous daydreams.
The rest of the days went as usual, but only with the addition of Sungchan back again in your life. Although you had long forgiven him in his heart, you decided to not vocal it out. As heartless as it may sound, you wanted him to make up for the pain he caused you, and he indeed did. Jaemin was skeptical in the beginning at the idea of another person joining you small group, he had come to liking the idea of you guys as trio and was more comfortable like that. But he saw how your eyes lit up every time you about him when you were newly friends with Jaemin, how Jeno would always drunk talk about the times they passed as seatmates bothering the hell out of you. So Jaemin broke his exterior cold composure on the fourth day, finally accepting the banana milk from the new male as a form of bribe for his addition to the group.
Sungchan worked harder than deities; always making sure to get you Americanos before your classes, taking extra notes for you whenever you felt sick, tolerating your extremely drunk self and even dropping you back at your dorms safely. He had mentioned how he finally mustered up the courage to stand up against his fathers, that he wanted to do something else rather than working in the medical field. Even though he had still yet to decided his desired career, Sungchan decided to just follow his intuitions which ended up him taking chemistry as his major and thus landing in the same institution and same class as yours. And not to mention, he was beyond grateful for it.
A month had passed with his arrival, the awkwardness amongst everyone long gone and forgotten. It was as if he never left you. You were never over him, so his all time sweet gestures was making it harder for you to maintain your cold act.
“I happened to attempt making kimbap? But I am not sure if they are edible..” Sungchan trailed off as he hesitantly hands you the small metal box. You almost laughed at how cute but messy they looked, his failed attempt at giving the rolls eyes and lips with sesame seeds and ketchup was beyond adorable. You took the box from his grasp, a smile playing on your face as you looked at him. Sungchan upon noticing your grin, rubbed the nap of his neck shyly, his ears and cheeks mirror the shade the of the ketchup. You took a bite from one of the many rolls he made, a hum of satisfaction escaping your lips as you relished the tangy sweet taste. It was perfect, just how you preferred it.
“It’s pretty good.” You licked the stain of ketchup from your fingers, failing to notice how the male blushed harder at your subtle act. “We have Mr.Lee’s class, so I believe we should hurry up before it’s too late.”
On the night of the annual university carnival, Sungchan confessed to you. At least not in front of a public washroom this time. With the constant aid of Jeno and Jaemin, Sungchan was able to plan out a pretty dramatic confession for you. You were completely surprised when Jaemin called you out of nowhere, frantically asking for your presence to a specific classroom. You feared if the dork had committed some sort of treason explaining how dramatic he sounded, so you rushed without giving any second thoughts. However, when you saw the trail of roses with candles adorning the edges, you froze. It had the same scent both you and Sungchan had invented; the sweet scent of lily with tinges of tangerine to it.
A flustered looking Sungchan steps out from the dark, his hands rest behind his back as you cautiously scanned your face. When he saw no signs of discomfort, Sungchan slowly jogged to where you stood, his hands holding a bouquet of lilies with a small note on top of it.
“I know I have made tons of mistakes, hurt you so many times. But I still want to test my luck.” Sungchan got down on his knees, holding the bouquet with his head hanging low. “Y/L/N, will you allow me to be your man? Will you be my girlfriend?”
A shit eating grin spread on your face, slightly giggling at how adorable he looked. “I thought you’d never ask.” You took the flowers, a soft smile adorning your lips as you lock eyes with an extremely surprised Sungchan. “Of course Sungchan.”
“Of course? For real?” Sungchan couldn’t believe what just happened, he was half expecting you to flat out reject him at how inconsiderate he had been. But you accepted his apology, accepted his love. Sungchan stood up, his heart squeezing in delight and adoration for you. He cupped your face gently, as if you were a porcelain doll that would just break if not handled carefully. You saw how his eyes shone with love, sparkling brightly on the soft light from the lighted candles and you swore you never felt so much before for anyone else as much as you felt for him. Sungchan closed the proximity, his nose slight touching yours as he rested his forehead against yours, the smiling never for once leaving his face.
The tension was building up with each passing second, the sounds of your heavy breathing being the only silence breaker. You got impatient, the feeling of his lush lips got you being greedy as you closed the distance standing on your tip-toes, momentarily catching him off the grid before receiving the same attention back. You gripped on his shirt, too unbothered to break the kiss despite losing your breath. He paused for a moment, panting before pulling you back under his spell. The bottled feelings and emotions of longing and pining for each other were poured into the this sweet shared moment of yours. You were grateful that the whole building had no signs of any lurking students and professors, what was supposed to be a innocent make-up kiss soon transformed into a heated one as he held you by your waist, pinning you against the wall with his lips still attached to yours.
You pulled back for the heavy make-out session, almost earning a whine from the male before you soothed him with you words that came next. “I love you.”
Sungchan felt his already beating heart pick up its pace, becoming hastier that he was low-key afraid if he might face a stroke anytime. With a loving grin, he looked back at you who was still caged in his arms. He tucked the stray of hair brushing across the sides of your face from the soft breeze entering the windows, the illuminating yellow hues from the candles making you look like a dream. A dream that seemed unattainable to him until this very moment.
“I love you so so much. Thank you. Thank you for giving me a chance to prove myself, to allow me to show you my feelings, Y/N.” He was breathless, he felt so many emotions at that moment when you glanced at him loving. He was afraid his pulse might stop any moment, so he kissed you back, but now filled with passion and desire. And let’s just say, one of your fantasies were fulfilled that night.
The news of his grandma passing away came after a few months when you both had officially started dating. Both the Jungs were extremely close to her, so when Jaehyun took her back to Myeongsu Hospital where he was currently the chief of neurology, her condition was inevitable. Jaehyun hoped that maybe she might get to spend more time on earth under his care, but he too was victim in the cruel hands of destiny. Sungchan rushed to your dorm, bloodshot eyes as he told you the news. You found yourself sobbing alongside him, tenderly keeping him embraced in your warmth as you shared his pain. You knew her personally as well, all the moments spent with her were a profound favorite part of teen years.
“I wanted to meet you before I leave for Seoul. I came to say a goodbye.” Sungchan sniffed, his hands wiping away the streams of water rolling down your face. You smiled at his concern, mimicking his actions you brushed his sweaty bangs away from his forehead before placing a soft peck against it.
“It’s okay. Don’t tell me goodbyes anymore...for I know you’ll always come back to me.”
Epilogue
Sungchan fumbled with his tie nervously, bile reaching up his throat as the worst scenarios flooded his brains. His eyes frantically looked around for help, making a bow-tie was just not his cup of his. A breath of relief escapes his lips when his eyes landed on his closest beloved friend Jeno. Jeno stood leaning against the door frame, an amused grin painting his sharp features as he walked to the struggling male.
“Bro...” Sungchan huffed pleadingly, a pout forming his eyes.
“Yes bro.” Jeno flashed him an eye roll, before having the same eye smile again as he fixed his friend’s tie. After all, it was a big event for him.
To say the least, you looked breathtaking in your white laced gown. The simplicity of the dress made you look more elegant, it enhanced your natural beauty and Sungchan couldn’t just tear his eyes away from your form. It was supposed to be the bride’s day, but to him you shone the brightest.
“You know it’s me getting married, but the new comers might assume it’s you considering how you are gaping at y/n shamelessly.” Jaehyun hissed to his best man, earning a scoff from Sungchan.
“Hyung, let me have my moment! Please.” Sungchan whined but was careful to tone it down, only to receive a slight nudge from the groom who chuckled at his antics.
The wedding was glamorous, elegant, anything that could be named as a dream wedding. Sungchan remained glued beside you the whole night, a proud grin on his face every time he was asked about the lady whose arms laid locked with his. With a smug look, he would rub on their faces that you were his girlfriend, especially exaggerating to the males who seemed to had their eyes on you. You both enjoyed the silent company of each other, the soothing sounds of the wind replacing the absence of music as Sungchan drove you back to your place, hands still intertwined. When he came in front of your shared apartment, he fidgeted in his seat nervously; fishing out something from his coat.
You figured it was another one of his endless gifts, so you just smiled with your back resting against the cushion seat of the car.
“Sungchan, you really need to-”
A throat seering stopped you in the midst of speaking, your eyes widening when you realized what the purple velvet box might contain. Sungchan let out breaths of nervousness, blowing out some air out of his lungs to lessen the feeling of anxiety as he looked at you, eyes as genuine as ever.
“Y/N, I don’t believe in fancy proposals as you know. It is an intimate moment for us so I want it to happen in the presence of only us.” Sungchan stuttered in the middle as he opened the box, revealing an extremely gorgeous but simple plated band with a small stone adorning the top perfectly.
“So will you marry me?”
You stared at the male dumbfounded. Your eyes refused to believe the scene in front of you, hearts doing numerous flips and turns and it was just hard to explain all the feelings you were feeling. Sungchan had always been the one for you, and even though not everyone gets to have a happy ending with their first love, you were beyond grateful that you had happened to fall in the rare probability.
“I...OF COURSE. OF COURSE I WILL.” You yelped in delight, shoving your hand in front of his face as he just laughed while placing the ring on your finger. It fit perfectly. You grabbed him by the collar and kissed him with your overpowering passion and love, not realizing how if continued any longer, you guys might have to pay a fine for parking on the wrong side. So without wasting any time further, you both hauled yourselves to your apartment, refusing to break the contact of your lips molded perfectly together on your way. In short, let’s just say ‘sweet innocent kiss transformed into a heated one’ yet again.

For the longest time, you knew growing up you wanted to join the FBI. Joining the FBI was the only thing on your mind from a young age. You worked off your butt in university, finally made it to the academy, completed the academy training, and joined the BAU with some of the most profound agents. You had the honor of working alongside Jason Gideon, Aaron Hotchner, and other agents who soon became family.
Years passed until there was this one case that changed your life. You had a stalker that sent you anonymous texts, emails, and packages in the mail. You kept the situation to yourself, hoping to deal with it in your own way. After a while, the emails, packages, and texts stopped, and you were confronted by the stalker one night outside of your house where you were kidnapped, tortured, and shot.
That case took a huge toll on your life and ability to work. While you were ordered to take time off, Unit Chief Gideon left the bureau. You spent lots of time thinking about your time at the bureau and came to the conclusion that leaving would be the best option; at least for now. You handed in your resignation letter four months after Gideon left.
After a year, you received an offer to join the White Collar Crime Department. You needed to get back to work so you agreed without hesitation.
You spent the next 6 and ½ years working with the White Collar Crime Department. It was a far more tough job than you imagined. At the moment of receiving the call, you accepted the job because you were so desperate to get back on your feet. You were a workaholic, sitting at home wasn’t an option for you.
Present Day
It was a cold rainy day in Virginia as you were seated in front of your desk in a small cozy office staring out the window. You should be tackling the stack of paperwork on your desk but your mind kept wandering back to the phone call you received two hours ago. You grabbed your phone and stared at the call log, your finger lingering over the contact number, unsure of what to do.
“Agent Y/L/N, do you have a minute?” Director Jones walked in and shut the door.
“Actually I have loads of paperwork to complete, Director Jones."
"Okay, so you do have time. I need to speak with you,” You sighed as she sat down. “Did they reach out to you?” You knew exactly who she was talking about and where this conversation was going.
“I received a call.”
“And you didn’t come to discuss it with me? Why not?"
"I just received the call two hours ago."
"You should have come to speak with me as soon as you ended that call, Agent Y/L/N."
"I’m swamped with work, Director."
She narrowed her eyes at you almost like she was trying to read what was going on inside your brain. "Are you considering it?"
You sighed. "I haven’t decided yet."
"Will you have a decision by the end of the day?"
"Is that when you need an answer?"
"That’s when the Department needs an answer."
You leaned forward in your chair, folding your hands "Director Jones, when do you need an answer?"
"I’d like one before I step out of your office."
Three weeks later, at Quantico
Everyone was surrounded around Reid’s desk as they stared at the elevator doors. "Is she here yet?” Garcia stumbled into the bullpen.
"Not yet baby girl,” Morgan responded.
“I don’t like change,” Garcia whined.
“Baby girl, change isn’t always bad,” Morgan replied.
“I know, I know. But over the past couple of months, we’ve had a lot of agents come and go. I just want someone to come and decide to stay. I just want her to be nice, that's the biggest thing for me."
"Wait, why do you keep using the pronoun she?” Prentiss asked, raising her eyebrow. “Do you know who it is?"
"I overheard Rossi and Hotch talking the other day but I don’t know who she is. Rossi sounded super excited to have her a part of the team."
The elevator doors opened and everyone’s eyes followed the ding.
"Morning,” JJ smiled. “What are we all doing?"
"We’re waiting for the newest member of the team. Did you see anyone on your way up?” Prentiss asked.
“Nope."
"I need everyone at the round table now,” Hotch orders walking out of his office, Rossi following quickly behind with a very small smirk on his face.
“Looks like we got a case,” Morgan grabbed his coffee cup and followed everyone to the round table.
“What’s wrong?” Reid asked, fiddling with his pencil.
“We’ve had a rough couple of weeks and I know that everyone is anxious to get back out there. I’m also aware that everyone is looking forward to meeting our newest member of the team. Pl-"
"Is she already here?” Garcia cut Hotch off. “Sorry, sir."
"They should be here any minute,” Hotch looked at his watch.
Walking back into the same building brought chills down your back. It brought back bittersweet moments. You flashed your ID card to security and made your way up to the 6th floor. As soon as the elevator doors opened, a wave of nerves wrenched your stomach. You stood outside the glass doors for a couple of seconds.
It’s now or never.
You pushed open the glass doors and your eyes met with the familiar settings. It all looked the same except the desks had changed. The only scent that hadn’t changed was the smell of fresh brewing coffee.
“Can I help you?” You heard someone speak up.
“Hi I’m Agent Y/L/N, I’m here to see Agent Hotchner."
"Ah, he is with the team at the round table. I’ll call him for you.”
“Thank you,” You said as your phone vibrated, looking down there were 3 missed calls from Director Jones and 2 missed calls from Section Chief Erin Strauss. You didn’t want to deal with any of them right now so you turned off your phone, and shoved it in the depths of your purse.
“Oh my god! It’s you. It’s really you! You’re back!” You turned around to see Garcia, she pulled you in for a tight hug. “I can’t believe you're here,” Garcia cupped your face. “I’ve missed you.”
“Hello hello, I’ve missed you too."
"Baby girl, let us hug her too,” You hugged Morgan tightly. “This is such a surprise,” Morgan pulled back.
“I thought I’d never see you again,” JJ said.
“Uh, that would never happen."
Hotch and Rossi both took turns hugging you but there was someone you didn't recognize.
"Agent Y/L/N, this is Agent Emily Prentiss,” Hotch introduced.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” You shook her hand.
“Likewise. I’ve heard lots about you,” She smiled.
You looked around and noticed someone was missing.
“Where’s Reid?” You asked, and Morgan smiled at your question. Back in the day before you left the bureau, Reid and you were the closest on this team. You always got along with him and he was your best friend. After joining the White Collar Crime Department you kept in contact with everyone on the team but it wasn’t the same as being with them every day.
“He’s on a phone call,” Garcia replied.
“Which department did you come down from?” Prentiss asked.
“White Collar Crime Department.” You said, proudly.
“Are you serious? Damn,” Morgan said, surprised.
“It was great, at first. But it’s a lot for anyone to take on."
"Really?"
I nodded. "When Hotch called I was sort of relieved I was getting a way out. Not saying that I’m not blessed to have joined that Department but it was lots of paperwork. Like way too much paperwork."
The team looks over to Rossi.
"Rossi bribes us to do his paperwork,” Emily pointed out.
“Let me guess, allergic to paperwork?” I asked and Rossi just kept a small smile. “I tried that excuse too."
"How did it work out?"
"Oh, it wasn’t in my favor at all," Everyone chuckles.
"Well, now I’m going to spare the rest of the team for a bit and have the newest member do all my paperwork,” Rossi joked and Emily and Morgan cheered, high five each other.
“Sorry Y/L/N you're in for a ride,” Morgan said.
“How is Director Jones doing?” Hotch asked, knowing that she is not most people’s favorite. She's definitely not your favorite, that’s for sure.
“Oh, she is a dream,” You joked and the team laughed. “Same blonde pixie cut wears way too much red lipstick and black eyeliner. Thank you for saving me,” Hotch cracked a very small smile.
“Do you still stay back after everyone leaves?” JJ asked as you nodded.
“You know JJ, some people never change,” Morgan added.
“Y/N?” You heard a voice and saw Reid standing on the catwalk. You looked up and he had the biggest smile on his face. You excused yourself from the team and quickly ran over to Reid.
Last time you remembered, Reid wasn’t much of a hugger but right now he opened his arms for a hug and you jumped into his embrace.
“Oh my god, you're here,” He whispered, squeezing you a little tighter, you didn’t mind at all. “I’ve missed you."
"I’ve missed you too,” You smile, pulling back.
You could feel the eyes of the team watching Reid and you interact from the bullpen.
“Nice hair pretty boy,” You teased him using Morgan’s nickname for Reid. “Did you join a boyfriend part-time or something?” You joked.
“Hotch asked me the same thing last week,” He replied. Reid looked at you for a few moments before saying. “I’m really glad you decided to come back."
"Me too."
**
All paperwork was abandoned as the team all had their chairs rolled over to your desk wanting to catch up.
“She really did that to you?” Prentiss asked.
“Director Jones is a true gem,” You say. “If you can work with her then I think you can do anything.” Prentiss laughs. “You guys want to know something?”
JJ nods. “I can’t believe I’m going to say this but I missed Strauss while working at the White Collar Crime Department.”
Morgan shakes his head at you. “Nah, did you really just say that?”
“I’m being one hundred percent serious,” You say, sitting up straight. “I’d rather have Strauss to worry about than Jones. That woman made alpha males cry,” You laugh. “It’s like Ursula came to life,” You joke and everyone cracked up.
You looked across the bullpen to see Hotch in the same spot as always, at his desk, finishing up paperwork. After you left you kept up with the team enough to know that they went through some tough times.
“How is Hotch doing after, you know?” You ask.
A couple of months after you left Hotch lost Haley after the George Foyet case. You wanted to come back and visit but you were swamped and couldn’t make any time. Although you did make a phone call, it wasn’t the same.
Morgan looked over at Hotch and sighed. “He took a week off and then he came back.”
“Typical Hotch,” You replied.
“He’s doing alright though.”
“What about you?” JJ asked and you look at her, with a confused look.
“What about me?”
“How are you doing after the stalker case?”
“I’ve been alright,” You reply. “But I was held hostage, and shot a while back.”
“What?” Reid said, putting his hand on your right arm. “Are you okay?” Concerned filled his eyes.
You shook your head. “I’m fine Reid. It was almost a year ago.”
“What happened?” Garcia asked.
“It was a case that went south, really quick. We were getting pressured by the authorities and we had to do something quickly so I put myself in a situation that I knew wasn’t going to end well.” You say. “Spent a few weeks in recovery but I’m all good,” You give them a thumbs up.
You were about to tell another story but Garcia’s phone went off.
"I’m all for happy moments because we never have enough of them but we have a case,” Garcia states, getting up. “Let’s go, wonder girl, it’s time to get those wheels in your brain turning again."
Everyone shuffles into the conference room. Reid stopped when he noticed you didn’t move.
"What’s wrong?” His soft brown eyes, piercing into yours.
"Nothing, nothing. I just uhh -” You looked around and there was a part of you that was glad to be back in a place that was so familiar. "I’m just really happy to be back with you all,” You smile.
“Welcome back Bambi,” Reid said, using a nickname from an inside joke that was formed years ago on the jet on the way home from a very interesting case.

history3 ep 7 summary - OMG SO MANY GEMS I DIED OF CUTENESS
i’m tagging my summaries as #history3 spoilers just in case any of you don’t wanna see anything till you get the subs/episodes i’m sorry i didn’t think of it before, there’re a lot of capital letters in this summary the cuteness was ridiculously intense tonight
also i don’t know if you guys watch the live stream on bilibili like i do, but it’s HILARIOUS the comments by the chinese audience are killing me and there’s also this function whereby all the live comments just slide across the screen like this (yes it’s damn difficult to watch the show like this but luckily you can make it translucent while you’re livestreaming, but i do it anyway because it’s COMEDY GOLD):
bar scene: tang yi follows pretty guy to the cctv surveillance room, OMGGGGG I LOVE THE DYNAMIC BETWEEN PRETTY GUY (whose name is Andy by the way) AND TANG YI - Andy asks how did Tang yi know that shit was going to happen in his club, and tang yi doesn’t respond but andy ain’t giving up
andy: “dealing drugs in my club? do they wanna die?”
YAS ANDY YOU GO!!!
andy: “how did you know something was going to happen? you know a cop among them? is it the one you talked about earlier, the one that you’re passionate about?”
tang yi to andy: “YOU deserve someone to be passionate to you.”
and then they shove each other like old friends do i really love it that tang yi has so many friends like the doctor guy and hong ye and everyone else this is the kind of friendship that we should all have
cue to the next scene: shao fei legit JUMPING AND SULKING IN FRONT OF TANG YI’S HOUSE GATE and HE’S WEARING THE FUGLY PINK SHIRT WITH ANOTHER STRIPED SHIRT UNDERNEATH - he’s really sulking and i love it, and then while he’s jumping, tang yi’s car, driven by jack, rolls up and jack just pauses for a moment, then turns to look at tang yi: “it’s officer meng. do you want me to just drive in?”
shao fei guiltily stops his nonsense and POUTS as the car stops, then inside the car tang yi considers this for a moment, before just alighting the car and asking shao fei: “what can i do for you?”
shao fei using the excuse that he needs to talk to tang yi, and then insisting that he can’t talk “here” and this is where THE GEM HAPPENS
they move to this tea shop where shao fei obviously regularly visits cuz the tea shop boss knows him - the tea shop boss comments “you’re wearing a really cute outfit today officer meng” WHILE TANG YI SITS THERE HANDSOMELY LIKE A STATUE HE’S SO DAMN CUTE
and then this is character and relationship development guys, because tang yi isn’t hostile and he isn’t unfriendly, he’s just smiling at shao fei as if he knows exactly why shao fei is here and why he’s sulking - shao fei hasn’t even said or asked anything (although he does look like he really wants to say something a few times) before tang yi VOLUNTARILY tells him:
“his name is andy, he owns the bar and the business is quite good.”
and continues:
“his cocktails taste really good. my relationship with him is very good.”
SHAO FEI’S FACE!!!!!! he’s obviously totally jealous and disappointed but hasn’t said anything, and that’s when tang yi continues:
“...my relationship with andy’s boyfriend is even better”
cue shao fei’s face lighting up!!!!!!! he’s like “that andy really has a bf?!” it lights up like a homing beacon and he asks: “Really?!!!” and it’s to tang yi’s credit and their budding friendship that he doesn’t mock shao fei or anything, he just nods in affirmative and reaches for his phone inside his pocket and finds a photo of andy and his boyfriend for real and gives it to shao fei
shao fei is obviously so relieved, but he tries to hide it by laughing, “why do you have photos of another guy and his boyfriend in your phone?!!!” to which tang yi responds, “i don’t have many friends, i don’t have a lot of photos of friends i can take” and guys i really love this scene, their friendship has really come so far and they’re sitting for tea, no hostility, no ridiculous accusatory questions, it’s just them being friends together
and so since they’re on the topic of ‘friends’, shao fei then comments that he and tang yi are friends too! LOL shao fei so desperately wants to be friends with tang yi it’s fucking hilarious because he doesn’t realise how much he likes tang yi at this point and why he’s so eager to be friends and around tang yi: “i saved your life a few times, you saved my life a few times, you gave me a discount on the suit, i gifted you the skeleton keychain” etc. etc. listing everything they went through tgt in the past few weeks
tang yi got me for a moment there - he holds out his hand, and i thought he was going to shake on that friendship, but when shao fei reaches out for his hand to shake it, tang yi retracts it and goes: “where’s the keychain (ep 1)?”
look at shao fei bb’s smile, he is totes smiling and basking in tang yi’s undivided attention and presence, they’re so cute this is my favourite scene to date - they’re totally flirting, and shao fei totally wants tang yi but he doesn’t know it yet
and then tang yi COMPLIMENTS shao fei’s clothes: “your outfit today looks very good” and idk if he half meant it as like a joke, but he seemed pretty damn sincere and whipped for shao fei to me as his basically saying that shao fei looks cute today
and omg the tone that tang yi uses when he’s speaking to shao fei here? it’s amazing, like liquid honey and tenderness, and ooooh i can tell someone is about to be jealous in the future of the junior, and shao fei is totes oblivious to junior’s crush on him but tang yi? he sees CLEARLY
shao fei laughing at the frog on his shirt, tang yi smiling at shao fei being cute
THEY’RE FRIENDS THEY ARE TOTALLY FRIENDS FUCK THIS SHIT THEY ARE FRIENDS I REPEAT THIS IS NOT A DRILL TANG YI WAS CIVIL AND FRIENDLY AND TOTES NICE TO SHAO FEI
wow tang yi and bodydumb scene: tang yi’s about to go jogging and exits his bathroom/room and bodydumb is there - he wants to accompany tang yi on his jog as it’s obviously quite dangerous with whoever is still out there that kidnapped him previously, but tang yi says no, and then bodydumb GRABS tang yi by the arm and wow tang yi’s glaring gaze i could feel it through the screen
and this is the part that everyone doesn’t quite get - i don’t know if i’m reading it wrong but tang yi then says sternly: “i treat you as my brother, but only as my brother, and nothing else” - he walks off and leaves bodydumb behind looking stricken and disappointed (i know i call him bodydumb but if he’s really in love with tang yi and it’s unrequited love or infatuation, i do feel a bit sorry for him)
the chinese audiences live streaming with me - they really didn’t get this curveball either, i think it’s interesting, neither good nor bad but wow a bit confusing too evidently by this screencap while the live screen was going on: see the question marks?!!!!
JOGGING SCENE: this is the cutest thing ever - (shao fei do you not need to work or something you keep turning up) shao fei turns up on tang yi’s jogging route and tang yi doesn’t even look the least bit disturbed, only commenting: “are you skipping work?”
shao fei fulfils his promise of bringing the keychain to tang yi, and then tang yi invites shao fei for a round of jogging to which shao fei replies: “one round? i can do even two rounds!” and then they just start running - they’re totally attracted to each other overtaking themselves - good, healthy competition
as they’re running to a more secluded part, under the bridge, the shooting scene that we saw in the trailer occurs - shao fei sees the suspicious man first (finally!!!! shao fei’s policeman instincts reflected here finally) and grabs tang yi to get down. the shooter does get a shot in which grazes tang yi’s back, and then the shooter walks off (he looks damn suspicious and also a bit incompetent btw) - shao fei is about to give chase, but tang yi says no need, that he’s going home, and shao fei is all: “okay, i’ll protect you!”
then jack went to find zhao zi, he’s waiting for him as zhao zi exits the police station building with the other team members, and he wants to help him cook - his team members try to get jack to go away cuz they’re alr all on the way to lunch, but jack is all “bro, i’m already here?!” and then the team members don’t seem to give too much of a thought to sending zhao zi off with A KNOWN GANG MEMBER? THEY JUST - let jack grab him
zhao zi, jack kidnapped you, don’t say hi to him like you guys have been friends since first grade!!!!!!
omg zhao zi brings him to the house - jack cooks EXACTLY what he cooked him the previous time at the house, and omg thai food
THEY’RE FLIRTING OVER INSTANT NOODLES?!!!
AWWWWWW zhao zi loves his grandma so much, he keeps everything that his grandma gifted him and places everything on the shelf, including a photo of her - PURE LOVE i really like that zhao zi treasures his grandma so much
lol jack is totally scoping the place out like an enemy’s hideout or smth, and profiling zhao zi
jack is going to matchmake zhao zi and a girl - i think it’s totally a ploy to get zhao zi’s number, because the dude totally takes out his phone voluntarily to get jack’s ID and jack obviously is so happy to have his phone number?!!!! and sends him a sticker over LINE
back to tang yi’s house: he’s getting bandaged for his wound by cute and hot doctor, the one that treated shao fei the other time, and then hong ye turns up all panicked and flustered and demands from the doc: “will the injury get infected?!!!”
doc: “you crazy woman, how many years have i treated tang yi? have i ever done my job badly?”
hong ye: “how would i know, maybe your skills have deteriorated?!”
and then shao fei turns up and it’s funny as hell, they obviously know each other and have seen each other a few times over the years because they’re all pointing at each other like “YOU!!!” - the rivalry between them both is real and i am living for it
shao fei: “we’re friends!”
hong ye: “you guys are friends?!!!!”
tang yi: ⊙︿⊙ and then he half sides shao fei, looking to be in a real dilemma though, by saying “he’s HALF a friend!!!!” YAS TANG YI SUPPORT UR HUSBAND
and then immediately after hong ye stalks off angrily, shao fei turns to the doc and guess what, says: “will the injury get infected?!!!”
and the doc is like deja vu - “one just left, and another one appears” LOL hong ye and shao fei’s concern for tang yi, whether they like it or not, mirrors each other
the scene with hong ye and dao yi - cute, I SHIP!!!!! ice cream not-date i love it
police chief is a pretty good boss
POLICE CHIEF U HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHAT’S COMING WHILE U EAT THAT PIZZA SLICE - everyone is totally avoiding shao fei as he asks to protect tang yi EXCEPT zhao zi, zhao zi you are really A GOOD FRIEND he’s trying his very best to make shao fei’s case for him
really looking forward to tomorrow’s episode i have to say - really liked that they delved a bit into the hong ye x dao yi relationship, and i love the sibling love hong ye has for tang yi, and gosh, that tang yi and shao fei are finally PROGRESSING ON THEIR RELATIONSHIP/FRIENDSHIP - and zhao zi and his grandma? and jack’s interest is all written on his face, and ANDY is an mvp he’s very sexy and hilarious

Pairings: Poe Dameron x Reader Genre/Warnings: Canonical violence Words: ~13,000 - Summary: Caderyn Ren is tasked with teaching Rey what she knows- only to find someone else capturing her heart in a way she never thought possible Requested Tags: @giggleberts *Though Cade is meant to be reader insert, I avoided second person pronouns A/N: Chapter 14 of 16
He doesn’t show up when I leave.
It’s just Leia and Rey sending me off the next morning as the sun breaks over the horizon. I take nothing with me other than what I care with, save for the comm pad given to me in the very beginning. It has Leia’s ID keyed into it so if I ever need to reach Rey, I’ll be able to.
And Poe’s.
I’d probably be killed if it was found amongst my things. Somehow, I don’t really care.
“Thank you,” Rey whispers in my ear as she hugs me tightly. We’ve become more than amicable in the past few weeks and I find her goodbye tugging on my heart in ways I don’t like.
“It’s all you,” I reply, and she gives me a smile. Leia is next, looking queenly as ever. She wraps me in her arms and this is when I have to try not to break down sobbing. It’s been so good to have a reminder of the old days, before the war, before everything.
“I’ll expect a visit,” she says jokingly as she pulls back, and I smile thinly at her.
“I’ll send a comm. Keep a lookout for it.”
“Of course, dear.”
As I climb into my TIE I can’t help but be disappointed that he didn’t show. I suppose I did basically turn him down the night before, even if I didn’t want to. Somewhere in me, I vainly hope he’s as heartbroken as I am. That he actually cared.
..............
The trip is uneventful up to First Order airspace. I open my channels and hail the nearest control.
“This is Cade Ren requesting passage through First Order airspace. I repeat, this is Cade Ren requesting access to First Order airspace.”
There’s a crackling, static, and then a voice. “Cade Ren, your message has been received. Please stand by.”
I frown. This was unusual. Usually the Knights had unparalleled access to wherever we needed to go. I’m even more surprised when several TIEs are launched from the bay of the guard ship, apparently sent to- what? Confirm my identity, I suppose? That must be it.
The first shot sends me spinning into space.
Guess not.
I quickly take control over my TIE and avoid two more shots aimed right for my head. What the hell is going on? I open my frequencies, trying to hail one of the TIEs aiming for my ass. “This is Cade Ren, requesting access, I repeat, this is CADE REN. What the hell are you doing..!”
I dodge and weave, still sticking close to the outpost so when they realize their mistake I can dock and look for damage this idiot did to my ship. I get a bleep from my console, meaning someone has responded to my call. I open the channel. “Call off your men! What in fucking hell is going on here?”
“Cade.”
“AT!” AT-8994 is a crack pilot. He made fast friends with all the Knights once we realized if it wasn’t based on Force aptitude, he’d probably run us all out of a job. “What are you doing all the way out here? And for god’s sake stop shooting at me!”
“Cade. You need to run.”
“I- what?” I almost lose him as I dive into a barrel roll. “What are you talking about?”
“It’s Ren. He’s ordered-” he cuts out for a bit and I pound my console, trying to get him back online- “to be killed.”
“Ren orders people to be killed all the time, AT, what does this have to do with me?”
“-KNIGHTS. Knights to be killed, Cade!”
Oh.
Shit.
“He did what now?”
“He said as emperor he should be the only one who can control the Force.”
“Oh my- I’m going to kick his whiny ass when I get back so help me-”
“You can’t come back, Cade!” There’s a desperation in his voice that I don’t like. “We’ve got orders to take you down. Permanently. They’ve got pilots stationed at all the outposts looking for you, and everyone else is-”
He cuts out again, but I can hear it in the echo of his voice. Dead.
No.
“You- you can’t-”
“Cade. Turn around, fly back to wherever you came from. Otherwise I have to follow orders.”
Okay Cade, think. Think think think. “I can’t just fly away. If they- if he wants me dead they’ll expect you to follow me.”
“What do you want me to do, shoot you out of the sky? I won’t do it, Cade!”
“Good man. But I think you’ve got to.” I grimace, trying to pull my pack onto my shoulders. “Aim where you’ll cause the least damage. Leave me at least one thruster so I can pull up from the ground before I hit. If I make it to that planet over there I think I can at least jump before impact.”
“Cade- you’ll kill yourself-”
“Or you’ll kill me! You’ve already put your neck on the line giving me an out, don’t waste it, AT!”
Silence, and then a rush of static. “Okay. Okay. Get as close as you can to the atmosphere.”
“You’re a gem, AT.” I strap myself in tighter. “On my mark.”
“NOW.”
He shoots twin bolts at my hull and I let them hit with a sickening screech, the stabilizer going offline completely as I spin out of control. The planet is coming in hot but I’ve got to save what little thrust I have left for right before impact so I at least have a chance of crawling out of this alive. In my rear view, I see the other TIEs retreat, expecting me to land a fiery death on the surface. Excellent.
The ground comes in. I pull up with everything I have. It doesn’t feel like it did much as I skim across the ground, trying to aim for the forest so any wreckage will be concealed. The jolting is knocking my teeth together so hard I feel they might shatter, and g forces are trying to tear my body apart at every angle. Something snaps, then a blooming pain in my left shoulder. Then another- rib probably, based on the sudden labored breathing. I finally, finally skid to a stop in the middle of a clearing, surrounded by pines as tall as a temple.
I peel my forehead off the windshield, sticky with blood.
Trembling, I try to unbuckle myself, but I can’t manage with my shoulder either dislocated or broken. One rib is definitely out of place. I’m lucky it wasn’t more. I take a breath, cautiously. Excruciating, but doable.
Fumbling with my pack, I try to ignore the blood covering my fingers as I pull out the comm pad Leia gave me.
Please pick up. Oh, stars, please pick up.
“Cade? What are you doing?”
“Poe.” I cough, and taste blood. That’s not good. “I’m sending you my coordinates. I need- help. Medical.”
“Are you okay? What happened?”
Things are starting to fade in and out, but I try my best to make a coherent sentence. “They shot me down. Kylo- Kylo’s orders.”
I hear a lot of swearing and bumping around, like he’s pulling on his flight suit. Please be pulling on your flight suit. “How bad is it?”
“Pretty bad.” More coughing. “Shoulder is gone, ‘nd at least one rib. Tasting blood…”
“Cade? Cade, stay with me damnit. Listen to me. We re coming to get you. Just hold on, okay?”
“M’kay.” I close my eyes, and the darkness is a welcome relief.
“Caderyn! Talk to me!”
A fleeting thought passes through my head. “Hope I don’t die before I get t’ kiss you,” I mumble, right before I let the dark take me.

oh my goodness, all this headcannon foolishness cannot be acceptable, I am such trash, but I cannot help myself..
Must.. share... with... the ... w o r l d
Karma wheeled her sheet-covered project through the streets of the White City, Azreal and her big brother Lazarus, or Loki, tagging along side her. Loki was helping the little trickster get her project from her garage at her home all the way to the auditorium at the finishing school without magic. Teleporting the machine there may have caused the mechanics to bug out. Karma wanted this robot to be prefect, absolutely no bugs or kinks. She had been working on this model now for almost two whole years, and she was more than excited to show it off at the assembly this evening.
Azreal was elated to see his student so excited. She was in such a rush to get things going, getting her into bed after cake was almost a fight.
She had told the angel that she hadn't slept much last night after their conversation. It may have been Azreal's promise to help her debut the robot by acting as her volunteer for the presentation. He was wary of that request at first, but after the young nephilim walked through the procedure and how her machine worked, the angel came to it all unafraid.
"So what's under the sheet, Rabbit?" Loki asked as he pulled the cart uphill on the bridge they were crossing.
"No peeking! It's a surprise! It's my prototype for my Robotics final! The one I've been working on~ The one that all the Professors and teachers from Immundii will be seeing! And once they see how incredible my invention is, they’ll be foolish not to let me in!" she teased, winking back over her shoulder at the archangel , who in turn offered a thumbs up.
"Oooh, I got'cha now! Can hardly wait to see it; Naz can't either." Loki playfully retorted as he tugged the cart on ahead.
From behind the cart, Karma held up the white sheets so it wouldn’t drag. "Nazareth's here?" she inquired. "Is Dad coming, too?"
"Said so. Might show up in time to see your presentation."
At that, the little girl stopped in her tracks and snatched up Azreal's robes. She was making a sound that was something like a scared pterodactyl and a screaming deer and dancing in place. A bright gold illuminated from underneath her shirt, and the tiny gems on her face twinkled ever bright as well. "Ohmigoshdidyouhearthataz? Dad's coming! That means he might bring the others!"
Gracefully enough, the scholar swept the excitable youth aside and proceeded to follow her brother. She trailed along quick enough, but now rambled on about how happy she was War was showing up-
Been a while since he'd seen Karma so stoked to see her father. It must have been a year or so since the last time they spoke together in person, she's been calling him most of the time now. It was sweet to see how giddy she was when she talked about how she would impress her father, how she couldn't wait to see the look on his face when she won. She was way too confident for her own good, but it was still adorable nonetheless.
Loki had said something about her over confidence right after Azreal reflected on it. Huh. The little trickster insisted she was only so sure of herself because all of the other children had asked her for help on their projects, and none of them were as impressive as hers. "Simple drones," she called them.
Azreal had to roll his eyes. Sometimes, she wasn't just confident or conceited, she was downright arrogant.
No point in chastising her about it, though. There's nothing she can possibly do to help it.
The trio eventually made it to the gates of the school establishment, and now had to make the lengthy walk all the way to the opposite side of the grounds to the auditorium. Luckily, it would only take an hour or so to get there. Azreal found himself in good company for conversation. Karma and Loki loved to talk to each other, and they included the archangel in their little chats and small talk. They really liked to tell jokes, which was interesting in it's own right.
I mean, how do you watch two out of three nephilim kids just joking around with each other in the streets anymore? You don't Azreal, you don't.
Karma started getting more and more itchy as they all arrived at the auditorium, walking in through the enormous amber double-doors that let into the gigantic anteroom. Everything was set just so about two or three hundred people would fit, since the science academia in heaven still wasn’t a popular one.
Azreal watched as Loki let Karma take over the cart and sent her off to her spot to set up. A classmate, Matariel, approached her, they hugged, and Karma started signing to him about her presentation. The little girl grabbed her cart and began wheeling it back into the left way, to be brought up onto the stage.
The archangel was greeted by the parents and teachers of their students, and he himself got caught up in the gist of the academic affair, talking to colleges, students, and peers alike. He even got a chance to see some of the other student’s submissions and projects! He kind of missed this, when he thought about it.
Azreal's attention was stolen away when a loud commotion came from the entrance of the establishment behind them; a party of nephilim and a few of their children all arriving at once. What was once an omen of unfortunate circumstances was now like the event of century. All of the sudden... Nazareth walked silently alongside his father, nearly identical to the Horseman save for the short, curly platinum hair, and form fitting angelic armory.
Death's son, Antonio towered above almost everyone. His twin sister, Maria was nowhere to be seen. Shame. The young man with the skeleton grin quickly diverged from his morose little pod to mingle and fool around with Karma's sheet, which wasn't the wisest idea. Toni liked to poke around and pester his cousin at times. Such as trying to get a peek at her veiled masterpiece.
Pele, the collective and eldest nephilim child, followed Antonio in suit, wanting to investigate the work of engineering her cousin had been working on. They were all shooed off in a matter of seconds, as was a great many other students that had gathered around Karma's setup. Everyone was asked to take their seats and a few of the other participants began hastily rehearsing for their presentations.
Azreal waved at Karma as he took his heat beside Loki and his father. She waved back, blowing her dad a kiss, straightening her bowtie and fussing over her hair. She was seventh in line to present her project to the judges, all of them being the science teachers she saught to impress so.
Azreal himself taught exclusively at the Argent Spire, so he hardly knew any of the faces up on the stage. They announced the Students by name and by class, and announced that the winning project would be awarded a scholarship to Immundii, which Karma had already declined, saying that she wouldn't need the scholarship if she won, since Azreal paid all her tuition for her, so she could just give it to someone else.
The first six children to present their projects were all as Karma had said before; simple drones, at best. Well constructed, but feeble at best. A whether balloon, an alarm, some kid with a literal drone, and then it was the Rabbit's turn. The woman at the center of the judges table proceeded to announce Karma as top of her class, and went on to brag about how quickly she passed all of her entries with perfect scores. The whole time, Karma was signing to her at her in the crowd. Azreal watched their interactions, thanking the Creator he had taught War Celestial Sign Language.
“Now, presenting a work two whole years in the making, Karmarae and her Mystery Invention-” Her teacher, a tall dark and thin angel, of whom was Karma’s current teacher.
"Thank you, Miss Haniel. Now, Id' like to start my presentation by stating that this entry is not solely for the purpose of winning the prize scholarship, I built this machine for the representatives at Immundii , and I was hoping that they would consider my submission for later use." her eyes met with Azreal's, and she shot him a wink. "Now, I'd like to start with a question to the audience; How many of you in here are in the clericy, show of hands, other than you, Az," She pointed with a giggle.
Not many hands flew up, save for the few teachers and staff in the audience.
"Okay," The trickster sucked in a hiss through her teeth and kicked her foot. "Any healers in here? Anyone? S’there a doctor in the house?" No show of hands.
"Name one bone. One. In the whole body, just one."
She had the audience laughing. That was a good sign. She liked making people laugh, and being center of attention.
"Thank you, Heaven, for making my presentation a lot more convincing! Now, you can understand why we have so little healers running around, since the Hellguard are still on Earth, and the White Army is still setting up civilization on Rurus, our doctors have been few and far between. Not a whole lot of angels make it into the field of study, either. Most of y'all are fighters. Now, there's no shame in that, but your society has needs like any other, right? Angels still get sick and hurt, and y'all still have to go to the doctor, but that's become a much more difficult task than once it was."
"That's where I come in. I've thought about this problem for a while now, and decided that Heaven needed something to help them out. I've made a promise to build things that make everyone's lives better, and I haven't forgotten that are people in Heaven, and many more in other places, that are in need of some type of archetypal healing facilities. I know a boy in my class, here in the White City, whose been waiting on a hearing aid for the past three years now. In angels times, that's like-" she stopped mid-statement to start counting her fingers. She repeated both hands twice before finishing off with, "way too long to be waiting for a hearing aid."
Some angels in the audience laughed as Karma then bent over and picked up one end of her sheet, peeking over her shoulder and disappearing behind the obscured object. "I might not have built an impressive sentinel, or a whether balloon, but I have built a lady who is willing and able to help Heaven in a different way; Ladies and Gentlemen, I'd like to introduce you to-" She then tugged on the sheet and waved the entire thing aside as dramatically as she could. "-Darci; Artificial Intelligence Healer Extrordinare!"
Both Azreal and her family could see the moment Karma stole the show. She threw a finger out at the audience and laughed, that boisterous laugh of hers,the robot unveiled, stood on the raised platform at about six feet tall. She was tall, lanky, all held upright by a lone "leg" and a hard light pendulesque, which gave the illusion the robot was floating. She looked like a raised mannequin, with only a white torso, Head, and arms.Above her head was what looked like a mock halo, and the robot sported wing-like appendages. Her eyes glowed a bright blue of celestial energy, and that blue light could be seen running from her eyes to the inky black metal of her legs. Darci stood with her hands clasped before her, standing straight as a board while Karma activated the wards.
"Say hello to everyone, Darci!" Karma ordered, looking back at the crowd.
The robot blinked once, then raised a spindly arm, waving rigidly and bowing a bit. "Hello. I’m Darci, happy to help."
Surprised and pleased applause rang up from below, even the elder Horsemen were impressed with the automaton; Azreal could hear the oohs and aahs of the people closest to him. War and Death remarked on how well constructed the automaton was. Fury remarked on how cute she thought the robot was, to which Strife interjected that he thought the robot was creepy. He was abruptly silenced.
Karma beamed with pride, she was almost glowing with it. "Now, I bet you're all wondering what it is exactly that Darci does. Well, like I said, she's an AI, or Artificial Intelligence, so I've given Darci the capability to learn and adapt to new patients and environments. She can learn new spells to heal, new recipes to make medicines, and she can even remember patients and injuries for about 100 years. And that's not all, I also gave her a personality! I programmed her to be compassionate, caring, punctual, and have empathy for her patients. I designed her AI to be more matronly, so as to be a better fit for the healing and recovering field. Not only is she capable of helping on the hospitals, but she can be kept close to home for people who are disabled or sick."
"Azreal," she called, making the scholar stifle a smile. "Come on up here. I wanna give 'em all a sneak peek as to how she works."
At that, the audience went silent. There were a few hushed murmurs, some concerned stares here and there, but the Angel of Death gladly rose and proceeded to the stage. Some of the children on the stage gave him worried glances, some shook their heads. One boy covered his eyes.
They remembered the last robot... Cursor was a handful, but Tetris was a disaster...
Loki snatched his robes as he passed. "Careful. Keep your eyes shut in case something blows."
Azreal chuckled to himself. He had a feeling he was in good hands. Besides, he had helped Karma prepare the other night, and knew that everything worked out perfectly, even the deactivation afterwards was pain-free. No smoke, no fire, or short-circuiting, nothing buggy about Darci's movements and nothing erratic about her behavior.
"I am going to demonstrate Darci's prowess on my good friend, Azreal, but for those nay-sayers down there, don't worry, he'll be fine. Darci's a doctor."
Angels started laughing again as Azreal ascended onto the stage and took the chair handed to him by the other participants. He sat in the dead center of the stage and gave Karma his arm.
"Now," Rabbit started, rolling up the scholar's sleeve. "Darci was built for a wide range of medicinal purposes, ranging from first aid, surgery, reconstruction, and after care. I wanted her to be able to do everything a regular Healer does, but just as good, if not, better."
Karma reached over and took hold of Darci's metal fingers. She placed them on Azreal's forearm and started again. "Darci, is Azreal feeling well, today?" She asked in a loud voice.
Again, blue eyes blinked, a shiny white head cocking to one side slightly. Azreal felt a tinge of heat on his forearm. The blue light on Darci's fingers left little blue aftermarks on the archangel's skin as the robot's fingertips pulled away with a satisfied sound. "Azreal's vitals are stable and healthy. His heart rate is a steady one-hundred two beats per minute. Ozone levels in his blood are low. The angel is also emitting strong signals of happiness and relaxation."Darci's replied in a soft voice.
"Are you happy and relaxed, Az?" the trickster leaned in close.
"Oh, most definitely." the elder nodded and grinned. "By the way, I like Darci's default voice."
Karma blinked. "Really? I was thinking of changing it!"
Over the bought of laughter that ensued, Antonio called over them all, "Don't do it!~"
Karma gave Azreal back his arm and took Darci's other hand, rotating the robot around. "Darci is powered by a Hard Light Ward, so she can always be recharged in a matter of minutes! She's skinny, so she won't take up a whole lot of room, she's relatively quiet, and so far, I haven't encountered any bugs or kinks in her programming." She then turned her attentions back toward the judges at the table, smiling that award-winning grin of hers. "Heaven has been lacking something for a while, and I think I've found a new means of providing it. Darci would love to help out, too. That's what I made her for: saving lives. She can help others too! Angels, demons, humans, even nephilim! So, if you're interested, I'd like to make it so more models of this automaton can be made available for others. People who might need her."
She concluded her presentation with a thank you, from both her and Darci, followed by a cute curtsy. Karma had charisma, and she was milking it today, so It seemed. She received a great deal of applause, as was to be expected. She swelled with pride, waving over at her family once again. Azreal watched her for a moment as he retreated the stage, stepping over to the table of judges. There was no way he'd be hearing the end of this.
It quickly dawned on the scholar that he Might have to move back into his old home in Silverwall if Karma was actually thinking of going to the college at Immudii. Would she? Oh come now, this is Karma you're talking about... Of course she wanted to apply her intellect to something more fit to her skill.
Azreal thought long and hard about that as he descended with Karma and Darci. How much longer was she looking to be away from her fellow nephilim? Was she going to end up like Loki and disappear for ages at a time? Would she end up cooping herself up in that laboratory forever?
"-And since I'm declining the scholarship, that means I still have to go to Immundii and get in the old fashioned way, right?" Karma had been speaking to him this entire time, but he had been elsewhere.
"Hmm?"
"Azreal? Hey, come on, Az. I'm talkin' to ya."
A sigh. "Yes, dear..."

Ok I think it’s time for me to pull up my big girl panties and set this out for the world...we’ll just the first chapter cuz I’m getting antsy to post it
Under the Sun and Sea
Chap 1- Under the Seas waves
Screaming spilled out of the castle windows. Peter held his three dearest friends close as he cried out of happiness.”He said I can go!! I can go!!!” Peter shot up from his friends and spun around sending little bubbles out from disturbing the water around them.“Really! Like he really said yes?!” Gwen smiled and giggled as she watched Peter. Dark ruby red scales danced a crossed Peters waist fading down his tail to a dusty dark purple. Piercing blue shot out across the rose red bottom fins the tips kissed black. Red Sea glitter kissed his skin and his forehead had a ruby red tear drop gem at the center and pearls wrapped around his head, he had a small net tied around his waist. Peter always loved collecting shells always making sure he had netted bag with him to save away anything he found on his walks with this fathers. White scales formed around Gwens waist and faded out down to a dark purple almost black tail and her fins flared out to a blinding teal blue. A seaweed tub top covered her breast, a jewel stamped into her navel and sea glitter graced her arms and cheeks.”Oh Peter your going to love it we have this shemps...” Mary Jane slapped a hand over Gwens mouth and laughed awakardly. ”Gwendolyn honey please it’s a suprise remember.”
Mary Jane smiles and bites her lip looking to Peter. “ Tiger fish please we are all very happy but what did your father actually say?” She titles her head, her cherry red hair swayed perfectly in the currant. Fire red and orange scales fell down her hips along her tail and fired out into a beautiful flame with white tips. Two clams pressed against seaweed wrapped in netting and pearls tied around her neck and back.Peter took a deep breath and sighed his body movement making him swim back a bit”My Father said that now that I’m 18 I’m free to wonder the sea floor freely and go as I please... SolongasInevergracethetop” Peter mumbled fast. “So let’s go” he tried to swim off but Harry got a hold of his arm and pulled him back to the group before he could make his escape.
Harry’s green eyes flickered across both girls face before landing on Peters and he smiled. “What was the middle part Pete?” Harry’s black scales doted with electric sea green tail and a striking black and green fins swam them over to the door none the less. Peter blushed and puffed out his cheeks. “ I said I just can’t go to the surface is all” he sighed and looked down pushing open the doors as the girls swam after them. “I just wish he would let me be free like the other mer-people, I wanna feel the sun on my skin, the breeze through my hair, and my song on the seas winds.” Peter swam around and looked up to the surface and shook his head as he painted a smiled across his lips. Coming to a stop at the castle walls. “But about this surprise now?” He smiled and turned to MJ and titled his head his brown eyes shining with curiosity. MJ giggled and swam ahead” Oh nothing just a sunken ship...with human things.” She smirked and watched out the corner of her eye as Peter came racing to her and tackled her sending them tumbling through the water. “ A ship a sea ship oh Guys this is the best birthday adventure ever!!” Peter back flipped through the water as MJ giggled and grabbed Gwen’s hand, pulling her along. “Gwendolyn thought about it our cute little nerd saw some interesting treasures” MJ winked and leading the way.
Swimming after them Peter soon slowed as he looked back to Harry.” You don’t seem as excited about this as those two do.” Harry frowned looking down and let out a breath and then looked to Peter with worried eyes. “ You’re safer behind the castles walls Peter you know how I feel about this, I’m going along to make sure you stay safe.” He laced his fingers into Peters and pulled him closer his hand going this his waist. Harry’s other hand tip Peters chin up.” I care about you Your highness I never want to see you in danger.” He whispered softly to Peter. Peter blushed as he held eye contact with Harry, he opened his mouth to speak when Gwens sassy voice cut through them” Hey you two koi fish done making out we would like to go to the ship!” Peters face blazed red as he pushed away from Harry and raced after Gwen” WE WHERE NOT KISSING!!” He screamed as MJ stared at Harry and Harry just swam past her” lead the way” he spoke. Mary Jane seemed to snap out of her daze and race to the front of the group.” It’s a swim but we should be there soon!” Gwen swam up beside her blowing out bubbles getting the red head to giggle some.
“It’s just up ahead!” Mary Jane called you the others as the sea floor dipped down and they laying at the bottom was a ship cracked in two. It almost looked hunted the salt water taking claim over the wood, sand and muck covering some of the ship and Peters eyes shined” oh wow you guys” he whispered as if any loud sounds and the ship would just crumble into the sea floor. Gwen and swam over to a window and poked her head inside, she swam in the other trailing behind her. Harry bringing up the rear and frowning as he looked around” Not for nothing but this doesn’t seem safe....what id sharks come or a giant squid” he huffed and stayed close to the window they slipped through his eyes going over to Peter every now and than. Peter smiled seeing all the jewels and paintings the furniture that was broken along the floor, ghosting over the rubble something caught his eye and he reached down moving some wood out of the way and saw a music box laying on the very bottom level of the ship. Looking up at his friends to see them oohing at their own treasures he smiled and slipped between the floor bored and swam down to grab the music box.
He never notice the tentacle pulling back into the darkness as he descended the boat. Once his fingers reached the music box Peter grabbed it tilting his head to the side and moved it around his hands” what a beautiful box” he smiled and opened the sky blue box with gold lining and it played a beautiful melody Peter smiled as he hummed along with the tune but all to soon his happiness turned to fear as he let out a gut wrenching scream. Tentacles wrapped around his body and tail covering his mouth and pulling him into the darkness the music box dropped and forgotten. Harry laughed with the girls as they looked at a painting of fruit” humans are so weird I wonder when they have time to eat when they are stopping to draw it first.” The girls erupted in giggles again and he smiled turning his head to tell Peter his joke, but Peter was there....he wasn’t anywhere in site for that matter and Harry’s heart dropped as Peters scream sliced through the giggles and everything got quite. “Peter!” Harry yelled as he took off swimming as fast he could to the hole Peter slipped through Gwen and Mary Jane right behind him
Peter wiggled and groaned as he tried to break free of the giant octopus that had him. Peter was in a state of panic, he looked around and tried to cry out for help but with a suction cup in your mouth it was kind of hard. The only plus side to all of this was that the giant octopus was sleeping, or so Peter thought cuz he couldn’t see its eye open just moving around under its lid in a slumber. Relaxing a bit Peter let his body weight go, letting the octopus hold his weight, the sleep sea creatures tentacle that was holding Peter flopped to the floor knocking Peter lose some.Taking the little chance he had he pulled his arms free and pulled the suction cup out his mouth and gasped letting a a breath and flared to the sleeping giant. Right at that time Harry swam in seeing the monster and held out his arm to stop the girls” hey Harry what the....,” Gwen frowned but once she saw the octopus she covered her mouth and her eyes go big” Hey Guys” Peter said quietly and waved over to them a helpless smile on his face” some help would be nice” Harry swam over to Peter and frowned grabbing his arms trying to pull him free.
After 30 minutes of pulling, pushing, tugging and wiggling Peter was over it and sighed.” This is impossible I’m going to die here” he huffed throwing his hands up and blowing out bubbles. MJ sighed and looked to Harry as she stroked Peters hair” I’m so sorry Tiger Fish we will get you out if it the last thing we do” Harry held MJs gaze then looked away and swam over to the head of the octopus looking over the sleeping monster” Maybe if we just find the right tentacle and cut it off it would be fine” Gwen rolled her eyes and shook her head” so you want us to all die geez Harry think a little” she snapped and swam away from the group. Harry growled and yelled” I am you don’t think I want to get Peter out?!” As the last words left his lips the octopus woke up with a start and threw Peter across the room. Screaming he hit the far wall and sunk to the floor, Harry MJ and Gwen swimming as fast as they could to get away.
Peter didn’t know he passed out till he was being shaken by Gwen” Peter please we have to go!!” She cried as the ship was being torn apart by the giant octopus. Wood splinters flying everywhere, the ground shook with rage as the octopus began moving and thrashing about. Harry has gotten MJ out after a wooden bored almost crushed her. Peters eyes popped open and he looked around and shook his head, he couldn’t hear anything and his head was pounding. All he could hear was the melody of the music box and when he looked down it was by his finger tips. Grabbing hold of the beautiful song Peter shoved it in his net bag at his waist just as, Gwen looked behind her and screamed holding Peter close as a tentacle shot out to grab them, a hand grabbed on to Peters arm at an almost bruising grip and the both of them where pulled out and hugged into the chest of Steve Rogers”Are you kids alright” Gwen and Peter had their body’s tangled in a ball but once Gwen heard Steve’s voice she pushed away from Peter and bowed” Yo-Your grace” she stammered and bumped into Harry’s chest. Peter sighed and looked up to his father and nodded” yes...but I be now I’ll be locked away forever”
Looking between the four young mer-teens and sighing, Steve pulled Peter in for a hug”What your father doesn’t know won’t kill him.” He said with a soft smile and brushed some of the wood from Peters hair” Now let’s be back before he find out what you’ve been up to and you will really wish you where back in the boat” He laughed and lead this four back to the castles walls.
*******************
Music spilled out of the castle windows. The beautiful merman spun and dance around with his friends and laughed as he pulled Gwen and MJ close. The night was filled with laughter and song, everyone dancing and having a good time Peter gasped as he laughed holding his sides as Harry smiled fondly at him grabbing his hand and pulling him away from the other” Harry you really do have the funnest stories” he sighed out following the merman all the same. Out to the balcony” I just love hearing you laugh” Harry said softly and caressed his cheek. Peter blushed and looked away and then back to Harry” Harry... I thought” he bit his bottom lip looking back to the party” I thought we talk about this....we are friends and I just....can’t ” he softly swam back and held his arms over his chest looking down. Peter knee Harry liked him, he knew that Harry was the best of the best but he wanted to keep Peter locked up, keep him hidden away and Peter didn’t want that. He wanted to see all of the sea and maybe some of the sky! Peter wanted adventure and fun. Harry wanted to play safe keep Peter insight always. Harry shook his head getting closer to Peter” I care about you Pete you know I do. But all you do is run” Peter bit his lip and let out a shaky breath” I care about you as a friend Harry I’m sorry” he whispered just as Harry went to say something Gwen and MJ tumbled out giggling and bumped into them” you to Koi fish so cute but you guys are missing the party!!” Gwen giggled and pulled Peter back inside. MJ looked to Harry giving a small smile and Harry sighed and with a sad smile went back to the party.
The night ended with a bang, a big one Peter was covered in seaweed confetti and sea glitter and giggling as he swam back to his room with Gwen” so your staying the night right” he turned swimming backward” I can go home if you want” the mermaid smirked at the gasping prince and swam over to his bed and plopped down as Peter closed the door and locked it” so......let’s sneak out” he turned to her and then swam over to his window and bit his lip” and go to the surface” Gwen gasped and fell off the bed” Peter!!!! What is wrong with you!!!” She yelled and Peter frown swimming over to her and covered her mouth” Stop yelling” he hissed whisper yelling” you owe me remember Sara” Peter smirked as the left his lips. Gwens went wide and then she glared at him” fine asshole” she pushed him away and grabbed the chair that sat at his vanity mirror and jammed it under the handle and looked the the prince” so what’s your crazy plan because this is crazy” she whispered.
Slipping out the window and into the court yard the two Mer-teens swam around. The young prince giggled and spun around” The night sea water is amazing I always wished about swimming through the oceans current” Gwen kept looking over her shoulder and sighed” great good wish granted now can we go back please Peter the king will kill us” she grumbled following after the carefree prince. Humming softly he ignored her plea and swam ahead anyway.”Don’t be a spoil sport Gwen I would have brought Harry along if I wanted a mood killer” Peter huffed. Giant booms could be heard muffled through the water. Jumping back Peters head snapped up to the surface. A ship sailed over the two the light of the moon casting as shadow over the pair as the boat inched along. “It’s a boat” Peter gasped in awe and bit his lip.” No no no! Peter are you crazy!” Gwen yelled after him as she let out a groaned and looked around then sped after the mer-prince.
Peter broke the surface, cold night air filled his lungs and he coughed a little. Gwen came up a few second after him hissing” we are so dead I swear I’m never sleeping over again” she whisper yelled. Peter just shook his head and made a face that said as if you don’t live fore this. The ship passed by them and Peter sighed in awe. bright colors started to explode in the air and the pair jumped and sunk underwater holding each other” What is that” Peter asked as he broke the waters surface again. Gwen shook her head and looked around” We should go Peter please!” Gwen pulled around his arm and bit her lip.
The water turned from a calm sea to aggressive and angry waves. Peter and Gwen got swept up in a wave being carried closer to shore than she had hoped for. The ship rocked back and forth the men on broad yelling and trying to hold. A wave slammed into the ship sending some of the men flying and falling into the sea. Peter and Gwen watched in horror as the men tried with everything they had to reach the surface. Then a blond man jumped into the sea and started pulling the men but to the surface and helping them on board. Gwen pulled at Peter trying to get him to leave, but Peter was transfixed, he watched the man save six men. Once the last of the men where out of the water the blond man started to climb the side of the ship. Once again the ship was slammed into as rain poured from the sky, the shock from the wave went the man flying, crashing into the water. The impact was so hard it knocked him out. Peter gasped and rushed to save the sinking man. Wrapping his hands arms around his middle pulling up.” Oh no no no we have to help him!!” Gwen bit her lip looking around”Peter you can’t!....I mean he’s just.....for the love of....” Gwen ran a hand down her face and grabbed at the man and help Peter pull him to the surface” Now what oh wise one” Peter glared at her and looks to the blond man between him the ship now long gone.” To shore” Peter pulled and Gwen followed begrudgingly.

Request: Hiya:) can I request a Johnny fluff where he gets his first tattoo as his birthday gift. And you start teasing him because he was whining about how much it hurts? Please Thank you 😊✨
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another day another dollar was the motto of Seoul tattoos, a hidden gem among the Gangnam area. You started working there at the age of 18 starting off at a decent wage, but quickly working your way up through the ranks and landing yourself in the top five tattoo artist in your area.
The shop you worked in wasn’t very big, only having room for about 7 artists in total. Not a ton of availability, especially for you. Yes being in the top five was an incredible achievement, especially with you only being a couple of ears into the business, but it came with the not so great perks. Being booked months upon months in advance, sketching designs non-stop for customers day in and day out, waking up at the ass crack of dawn to finish a sketch, buying tons of erasers, pencils, paper, and markers because of how many of each you’ve gone through. It was exhausting in a way, but it was all worth it because of the immense satisfaction you got when the colors were blended and lines were smooth pulling together the design and the customers smile and words “I love it” were what made it all worth it.
~~~
“Hey y/n how are you? Long morning?” Your coworker and good friend josh greeted you as he came in for his afternoon clients. Josh wasn’t your typical tattoo artist guy. Sure he was over six foot and had plenty of tattoos visible that gave him the majority over your own tattoos, but beneath the ‘tough’ exterior was a literal puppy. He looks intimidating, but equals like a little girl when he’s scared and 'secretly’ loves cats and chihuahuas. In a summary he’s a huge fluff ball and softy.
“Good afternoon josh it’s been going well thanks for asking. Had three clients just this morning and I got one more this afternoon before I get to go home and relax.” You replied flashing him a quick million watt smile before glancing back down at the sketch pad of your nearly complete design.
“I thought you had that done weeks ago. You k ow when he scheduled it?” Josh peered over your shoulder to glance at the magnificent sketch you had created for your afternoon client.
You shrugged. “I thought so too. But you know me always not satisfied. I’m just adding a few more details to really tie it together you know?”
“Yeah I know miss precision.” He folder his eyes before sauntering off into the employee room.
You heard the distinct crinkle of your bag of snacks from the employee room.
“Josh dont you even think about it!” You shouted as his head popped out form the doorway and a pot already adorning his lips.
“Aww please y/n? I just want one snack!” He whined loudly causing you to roll your eyes at his dramatic facade.
“Fine! But just one bag I’m saving those for tomorrow!”
A squeal left his lips as he proceeded to rip the bag open and steal a small bag of chips before prancing down the hall to his station.
You sighed at his weirdness before turning back to your sketch to add the last couple of pencil strokes.
You had just set your pencil down when the bell on the door dinged making you aware of the client now inside the parlor.
“I’ll be with you in a minute.” You announced before ducking behind your station to grab your client book. You popped back up, book in hand, and proceeded to walk toward the waiting area all while flipping through the book to your afternoon appointment. Your eyes scanned the page until the landed on that one name that was scheduled for 3 o'clock pm.
No. Way.
You blinked a few times at the name scribbled on your page, thinking you had misread it. You counted to three eyes closed and opened them and yup the name was still the same.
Sprawled out in neat handwriting was Johnny Seo aka your ex-boyfriend. You two hadn’t ended in bad terms per say. They just weren’t ideal terms. Long story short you had dated before his debut and when he did debut he was forced to break up with you and you haven’t talked since. To be accurate it’s been only a few months since the break up, but it was still fresh in your mind the way he had asked you to meet at your favorite cafe as a couple one evening. You could tell he was nervous as his hand were wrung together on the table and his eyes wouldn’t meet yours. You remember the way you placed your hand in top of his, trying to get his eyes to meet yours and when he finally did, you could tell something was gonna happen. He took a deep breath and told you straight up “Y/n we need to break up. Management thinks I would be more appealing if I was on the market.” The shock you felt was unbelievable. Your emotions just went numb as you released his hands as if the words he said were a force shoving you back. His eyes stared into yours in sorrow silence, waiting for you to say something. You stayed silent processing the information before standing up flashing a weak smile that said it’s okay as he tried To apologize and you turns and walked out of the cafe not looking back. Once you had gotten home the waterworks switch flipped as the realization of being in a relationship was gone, shattered to pieces like your heart.
Back to the present your head snapped up to see the same lovely smile adorning his lips as he looked back at you.
'Don’t smile at me.’ You thought. 'It’s only going to make me realize my feeling I still have for you.’
You cleared your throat, forcing the lump down and flashing a million dollar smile that could fool anyone. “Mr. Seo, 3 o'clock appointment?” You surprised even yourself with how strong your voice came out.
Johnny nodded his head in affirmation before you gestured for him to follow you back to your station.
You sat down in your artist chair before motioning for him to sit across from you in the client chair. “Okay Mr. Seo first tattoo in black and white, no filling, no color. Is that correct?”
Johnny nodded an affirmative again hoping you would just look up at him.
“Me. Seo I’m gonna need your ID and would. You like to pay now or later?” You busied yourself with grabbing the calculator for price and your other notebook full of transactions.
Johnny didn’t reply, he just stared at you. How did you the girl who was so bubbly and bright and absolutely hated formalities form into the girl you were now?
You waited for a response that wouldn’t come. You sighed as you mentally counted to three before looking up and seeing johnny’s intense stare directed at you. You two had a stare down until he finally broke the silence.
“What’s with the formalities? You never called me or anyone by their last name or surname before. What’s changed? Where’d my y/n go?” He whispered staring intently into your eyes not allowing you to look away and face the question head on.
“I’m in a work place Mr. Seo and I always use formalities with a client-”
“No you don’t. You’ve never used formalities with a client because you make them feel comfortable. So why are you using them now on me? We’re still friends y/n.” He cut you off.
You sighed knowing he wouldn’t let you continue until you called him by his real name and you wanted to be out of the parlor by 5.
“Johnny. Can we please just get to the tattoo-”
“Say it again.” He interrupted once agin.
You blinked owlishly at him. “What?”
“Say it again. Sag my name again.” He repeated.
“Johnny I don’t have time for this. I need your ID and form of pay please so I can start on your tattoo.” You turns to grab your notebook and when you spun back to face him a grin was adorning his features in the most adorable way. Without a word he grabbed his wallet handing you his card and ID watching as you scanned them before returning them to him. You went to return your notebook but felt a grip on your hand, soft but firm, hold you there.
A thumb caressed the back of your hand slowly as if he was transferring he feeling of your skin to his memory to cherish.
You slowly pulled your hand free from his grip and returned your supplies before grabbing the stencil and laying it on his arm, the place where he desired the design to be. You slipped York gloves on and filled the machine with black ink to start. You made sure the needle was working before taking a peek at Johnny’s face that was trying to be calm. You smiled lightly as he tried to act tough before laying a gently gloved covered hand in his arm.
“Johnny are you alright?”
“Yeah I’m fine. Why?”
“Well I haven’t even started and you are starting to look nervous. Are you sure you want to do this? You know it’s there forever.”
“Yeah I’m sure. Now or never right?”
You grinned at his facade before patting his arm and starting up the machine to start tattooing. You brought the needle closer to his arm before glancing up as his face seeing his eyes squeezed shut waiting for the unavoidable pain. You quickly reached behind you grabbing your blue stress ball and leaving it in his palm. His eyes opened at the feeling of a squishy object in his hand and he turns to you with a confused expression.
“It’s to help distract you from the pain. Squeeze as hard as you would like. I’m gonna start now alright?” You said watching as he nodded and rested his head back before inhaling and exhaling deeply to calm down.
With his affirmative you whirred up the machine and began to tattoo his desired design onto his skin.
~~~ “All done.” You announced as you took a cloth and began to wipe off the remaining ink and blood that wasn’t supposed to be there.
“It’s over?” Johnny questioned eyes opening.
You glanced up at his face and was surprised to see his eyes rimmed light red and the tears misting about. You took off your gloves and reached up to wipe at his eyes to clear the tears.
“It’s over. You made it through Johnny. How do you like it?” You asked as you grabbed a mirror to show him the finished design.
“Wow it’s incredible. Thank you y/n.” He gawked at the mirror hand hovering over the design.
You gently grabbed his hand and moved it away form the red skin before wrapping the tattoo and handing him instruction on what to do for the next week.
“Make sure you don’t get it wet for a few days then wash it after the third day. Put this cream on it afterwards and don’t put it in salt water. Come back if you have any problems okay?” You questioned ha ding him the bag of things he needs to ensure it healed properly.
He nodded and stood up. “I will. But what if I don’t understand what to do?”
“Then you can come back in or call one of us.” You replied wiping your hands on your jeans.
“So I can call you? You didn’t change horn number right?” He asked slyly.
You shook your head no a slight smile crawling onto your lips.
“Well then miss y/l/n how about some dinner then? I know I was your last appointment and I kept you longer than you should’ve stayed. Let me make it up to you.” He flashed his million watt smile at you that you couldn’t resist.
“What’s with the formalities Seo? I thought you didn’t like them?” You teased as he grinned at your playful tone before leaning down to your height.
“Thought I’d make it fair and use them in you. So how bout dinner? I’ll pay.” He held his arm out to you.
You rolled your eyes playfully before closing down your station and grabbing your purse before spinning back toward the awaiting male. You grinned mischievously before sauntering in his direction, walking past his form and out the door before turning slightly to see his gobsmacked expression.
“You coming or what? I’m starving Seo.” You teased slyly watching as he laughed before bounding after your form, linking arms and heading to dinner just like the old times.
Chapter Three – How the Braid Unraveled
They gave her directions to the restaurant, she could tell when she pulled up on the graveled lot that it was cozy, like a diner, a place where people went where they could get home cooking when they couldn’t get it at their actual home. She kept in a smile. It screamed a place for single men. The place was very busy inside, boisterous noises around the island to the bar, several of the men screaming at the television as whatever sport played on it. She continued to look around as the boys went to talk to the hostess at the podium, she could tell this wasn’t their first time here as they leant over the table with ease, talking to the girl who shoved them playfully as she laughed at whatever they said. They didn’t seem to have a problem with talking to people, comfortable and in their element when it came to chatting with whoever came in their path.
I used to be like that.
She had, she had been very in tune with people. Now she could hardly look at someone without thinking they had a hidden agenda against her. She looked back up seeing them turn to her, and the girl beamed at her too, until she saw Shepherd. It was second nature to her to bring him everywhere, and since she had stuck to only a choice few places to go those people had gotten used to seeing the dog by her side. Pulling up her purse, she began searching for her wallet, skimming through for the little ID card. She could hear the boys saying something to her, but she thrust the card at the girl, her hand shaking with nerves and a bit of shame. The girl’s eyes drifted to the card, her eyes widening with realization.
“Oh, oh, okay ma’am, come this way to be seated.”
She hiked her purse strap back up on her shoulder, she followed the girl, keeping her head tilted to the floor so the boys couldn’t catch her eye. They were placed in a booth near the window, and she took a place near the edge seat, facing towards the outside. They were still focused on her, but she felt herself relax, their laid back demeanor calming her.
“Care if we smoke, lass? Know this one didn’t think ta ask beforehand, but don’t wanta ruin yer appetite.”
She smiled, shaking her head. “I don’t mind, appreciate you asking though.”
They pulled the ashtray between them, both lighting up simultaneously. She kind of felt the urge to clap at that. Casting a look at her, Connor waved his hand to disperse the smoke that was wandering towards her.
“I’m fine, really.”
He nodded. “Hope I don’t offend ye, but yer not blind are ya, lass?”
She grinned. “I hope the DMV isn’t giving the blind licenses now. No…I’m epileptic. It’s not a big deal or anything. But since I developed it I always had a service dog with me, and I’ve gotten used to it. I like having Shep with me.”
Murphy nodded, his eyes tender. “Can tell he’s a good one, we weren’t meaning anyting by it, we’re just curious. So how long you had ‘im?”
She petted Shep, his head sitting on the vinyl seat. “Ten years, give or take a few months. He’s been a good friend.”
“He protect ye well?”
She looked through the smoke at Connor. “He does. Though I’m pretty good at taking care of myself.”
The question had thrown her off, making her suspicious again. Why would someone need to know if the dog guarded her or not. But the chuckle that came with her answer released her tension.
“That’s good, all the shit happenin’ the last few months, a girl needs ta protect herself. Would it bother ye if we asked how you…err?”
The way he gestured and the shame in his eyes, she knew Connor was wondering about her ailment.
She shrugged. “It’s okay, I don’t mind talking about it. It’s just the looks you get with it, I don’t like people to feel nervous around me, definitely not sorry for me. But it happened when I was about five we were staying at my grandparents’ house for the summer. Their house was by a lake, and we stayed by the water a lot. One day, I’m not even sure what my parents were doing but my brother and sister and I decided to play on the dock since the tide had rose. We kept seeing who could get in the most without leaving the dock. Well, my luck I fell in face first, and sunk like a rock, I ended up tangled up in some rope, and when I didn’t rise up my sister got my parents while my brother jumped in after me. He got me loose, but the lack of oxygen for so long it rewired my brain you could say and I started having seizures. But like I said I manage.”
She inhaled looking back up at them, and was a bit startled that there was no pity in their eyes but something of nostalgia, affection.
“Good ya had yer brother and sister, saved ye. Been a sad day if we didn’t get ta meetcha.”
She snorted making their smiles expand to grins. And she noted that they were the same as well. Yes, their looks were different, but the mannerism of it. The way their lips slowly parted spreading until all their teeth showed like a kid on their birthday, eyes lighting up as they crinkled on the sides. Happiness taking over their whole face. It was wonderful, and faltering.
Murphy flicked his ashes before pinning his gaze back on her. “Connor says you’re a triplet, yer brother and sister named after angle hierarchy as well?”
“Told ye, they’re named fer jewels. Ye never damn listen.”
“I fuckin’ listen, ye didn’t say nothin’ bout it.”
“Did so.”
“Níl tú nach raibh fucking. Tá sé tú ag iarraidh a dhéanamh dom breathnú cosúil le asal.”
(No you fucking didn't. It's you trying to make me look like an ass.)
“I don’t think you’re an ass.”
Murphy looked startled a minute while Connor chuckled. “Already forgot ye can understand us.”
“So what gems were you named after then?”
She smiled. “My mom was a gemologist, so she studied the uses and everything for all the jewels…it was actually supposed to be me and my brother so she had to come up on the spot for my sister, but Selene and Seraphine for Selenite and Seraphinite. Both gems were said to be used to communicate with angels, our poor brother got the worst of it though. He was named Sapphire, which was supposed to symbolize heaven and devotion to God.”
Both boys had started cackling before she finished and she couldn’t help but join them.
“Feel sorry for yer brother, how the hell yer ma could do that to him?”
She shrugged. “She thought it was unique. But when we were old enough he quickly shortened it to Sapph, and anyone who called him otherwise was likely to get beaten up for it.”
“Except yer ma and you girls?”
“Meh, mom and Selene were fine, but Sapp and me fight all the time. In case you thought I was demented it’s why I smile when you two go at it, I know it’s not anything mean or personal just something you do. It’s like a hug but with open hand slaps.”
They laughed again, nodding in agreement.
She grinned, her eyes then catching the smoke rings coming from Murphy’s mouth. “Oh, that’s neat.”
She let her finger poke through, changing the ring’s shape.
“All in de tongue, love.”
“All I can do with mine is roll my rs’s and make one of those clover things.”
Their brows lifted at that. “Well show us lass, we could use some good luck.”
She chortled shaking her head, glad to see the waitress coming. Giving their orders Connor ducked under the table before looking back at her.
“Ain’tcha goin’ to order for the pooch?”
“Oh, no, he’ll get his dinner when we get home.”
“Aww, come now, love, yer the one that said he’s why ye fetched me. He deserves a reward don’tcha think?”
She looked to Murphy who shrugged. “Told ye lass, I would’ve let him drown out there, though it’d be wrong to make him watch us eat with nothin’ for him.”
Lucky for her the place had hard boiled eggs so she got two for Shep as they settled down with their drinks.
“So ye ma works with gems and such, so what’s yer da do?”
So they hadn’t caught the past tense in her sentence. And her dad…she didn’t really want to talk about him at the moment.
“Oh, no, that’s enough about me. You boys tell me something about you, besides being too manly for umbrellas and having a knack for languages.”
Snubbing out the cigarette, Connor leaned closer to her. “Aye, and what would ye like to know lass?”
She shrugged. “Anything I guess, have you always lived in Boston? Do you like what you do? What’s your favorite thing to do? Anything.”
Murphy answered then. “Connor and I moved here around seven years ago, left Ireland with what we could carry on our backs.”
“Why’d you come here? Was there something you wanted to do or…?”
They both shrugged. “Seemed like what was right fer us. The American dream and all that, wanted ta see what the fuss was about over here. Knew Boston was full of the Irish so best settled down here, right? Got offered the job at the plant, make enough money to get a good place ta live and some to send off to our ma. S’good enough.”
Her stare softened. “That’s sweet that you take care of your mom like that. So you do like it here? Does it feel like home?”
Connor rubbed his face in thought. “Well now, don’t know how ta exactly explain that, nothin’s quite like Ireland, but yeah, it’s home…I guess anywhere is, ya know?”
She did know. She knew exactly. “Because you have each other, that’s what makes it home.”
They turned to each other before back to her, astonished glee in their eyes.
They answered her at the same time. “Exactly.”
She took a sip of her water before nodding. “I get it. I wish I could be with my brother and sister right now.”
“Why aren’tcha lass?”
She gulped on that, various emotions setting in.
Because I can’t.
She fiddled with the napkin ring, Shep feeling her discontent whimper as she patted him.
“I –“
Their food was brought over then, and she was glad not to have answered. Making herself busy by cutting up the egg for Shep before twiddling potatoes around her own plate. They were still waiting on her, expectant, their faces clear of judgement encouraging her to answer.
She pursed her lips, voice low to keep the trembling out. “We lost her, Selene, about a year and a half ago. We couldn’t protect her, and after a while Sapph thought he couldn’t protect me so he went on his own. I still hear from him but not as much as I’d like. I miss him. I miss them both.”
Every minute of every day I miss them.
It was quiet, and she started to look up when she felt herself surrounded on both sides. Her breath hitched when two pairs of arms wove around her. She lurched, surprised by so much contact, and yet so comforted, the familiarity welcomed.
Her ear was warmed by Murphy’s voice. “Couldn’t imagine goin’ through anything like that lass, you’re a brave one, no doubt on that. I might get aggravated by the stupid shit but I don’t know how I’d cope without him. Ye shouldn’t be alone though. And if ye need somebody…”
Her heart hammered, the fullness being too much. She wasn’t sure what they were offering to her, wasn’t sure if she even wanted anything from two people she just met, but she didn’t want to let go yet to be undone for so long, now being woven again, it felt joyous and torturous at the same time. Before long they pulled away, the warmth diminishing and giving her the chance to breathe again.
Licking her lips she looked at her plate. “Thank you.”
She sighed, not knowing why her hands wandered to her bag, Selene’s bag. Her hand clutching around a gaudy keychain that held a picture of them in it, she handed it to the boys. It was an unflattering picture of her, her face scrunched up with uninhibited laughter lying on her back with Selene collapsed on top of her with her own giggles, Sapph was next to them knees drawn up wanting to be angry but laughing in exasperation. She couldn’t remember how they had gotten in the exact position but Sapph had been dumb, putting his new cell phone in his back pocket and unaware, had fallen back to sit somewhere cracking the screen to pieces. All that money wasted her and Selene poked fun at him, the result being this, a friend taking the photo when they weren’t paying attention. Always the best pictures, the ones when you’re too caught up in the moment to care about everything else.
“I know we don’t look too much alike.”
They didn’t, but they did. Of course they weren’t identical, triplets hardly were, but they had similar features. They all had auburn hair from their mom, though Sera’s was the darkest borderline chestnut, Selene’s near a strawberry blonde and Sapph’s somewhere in the middle. They all had hazel eyes, courtesy of their father, green overtaking with hints of a golden brown surrounding it. Her and Selene looked more alike, both having something akin to cherub cheeks while Sapph’s had diminished as he grew older the cheekbones more prominent.
“Now, that’s a lie love, all three of ye have the same secret smile going there. Like ye have something ta tell but you ain’t goin’ to.”
She felt bad when they left, like she had put them out and through the ringer. She was glad to not go into too much detail on things but it was still enough to be off putting. Dropping them off at what she thought was a warehouse though they had assured her they lived there, they had both given her a tight hug and a kiss on the cheek and she was sad and a little glad she wouldn’t be seeing them again.
