"So I know water's super important for drinking, and life. But can anything live in the water? Where I'm from, there's way too much ash from the smoke, just drinking it is kind of painful."

Laying on his front, Silver traces the surface of the water with his gloved fingertip. Amazing, how it was so clear. He didn't realize this was what people called a beach, though he had learned that the Earth was, at least in this time period, almost completely covered with water.

Surely there was life down there!

"Why don't we explore it?"

A momentary pause, this time, an expression of confusion. Lowering his hand, the hedgehog noticed a change in how it moved. He balled his fist, then unclenched it. How peculiar.

"I wonder how far down it goes."

Modest Media Game Reviews Sonic Series Extravaganza          Sonic 2 8 bit

Game -  Sonic 2 (8 bit) Year of Release - 1992 Developer - Aspect Publisher - Sega Rated - Everyone Genre - Platformer Platform – Master System, Game Gear, GameCube, PlayStation 2, PC, Wii (Virtual Console), Nintendo 3DS (Virtual Console) For all sakes an purposes I am playing the game gear port found on the Gems Collection.

When someone says Sonic 2, you will most likely think of the critically acclaimed Genesis title. Well what if I told you that wasn’t the real sonic 2? Because I would be somewhat lying, it is Sonic 2, but so is this lesser known counterpart. This game is the origin of Tails and its all about Sonic trying to save his buddy. Known for its difficulty and regarded highly by many. How do I feel about it? Lets find out.

Gameplay – The gameplay for this is a real mixed bag for me. This is regarding the game gear version of course. The screen is so cropped that you must makes leaps of fate and will be hit a lot by things you cannot see coming. The majority of the game is made artificially difficult because of this. The Master System does not suffer the same problem due to a larger screen. Enemies respawn once off screen, and this can make exploding foes very annoying because trying to evade the explosion results in them coming back. Most levels have gimmicks associated with them, meaning there is no level where you run for the goal. Level one has mine carts, 2 has leaps of fate and para-gliders. 3 has bubbles and so on. This game has an overabundance of spikes, spikes everywhere, some placed in very mean spots, such as a blind spot right over a spring. Bosses are difficult primarily due to the fact you have no rings. Shields do not appear in this game, so the only other means of defense is the invincibility power up. Level design is also less fair when compared to the first 8-bit game. With the pits and spikes, the cropped screen makes it so much worse. On top of that there is so much trial and error and no checkpoints. I am sorry, but I did not enjoy this game. It was frustrating and at times downright unfair. Score - 8/20

Graphics – The graphics are ok. The levels look alright but aren’t as pretty as the first title. The first level is just ugly and brown. Enemies look like poor quality rip offs of classic sonic enemies. The only models that look good in my opinion are those of Sonic, Tails and Robotnik. There was no part of the game that look horrendous or terrible, but it just feels a bit lack luster. Score - 6/10

Story – The story does play a mild role in the game, but I don’t feel it really warrants an impacting score.  Essentially the plot is that Robotnik kidnapped Tails and Sonic is off to save him. For some reasons Tails appears in all the level intros but not in the game itself. Depending on the outcome of the game, Sonic either rescues Tails or…Well it is implied Tails died. Dark. Score – N/A

Replay Value – Mild. Like its predecessor, this game also has chaos emeralds laying about. However due to the revamped level layouts they can be much harder to find. In my playthrough I only found one. However, getting them, all unlocks the true final boss and final zone, the first hidden final zone. So, there is a moderate incentive to collect them. Score - 3/5

Music – Again, I find it lackluster, especially compared to the predecessor. I find the music to just be more bland and lower quality here. It all somewhat blends together and it sounds rougher than the original. This ost is kind of low on the score board for me. Though the tracks aren’t terrible, they are just not memorable. Give this soundtrack a skip unless you really want to hear it yourself. Score – 3/5

Overall – This game is frustrating and artificially difficult. It has many flaws and is a considerable downgrade from the original 8 bit sonic. Now, some of my gripes are fixed for the master system but considering that Sega seems to not like porting the master system version, the game gear versions are the most readily available. I know it’s available on wii-ware in its master system version and if I ever get that version maybe I’ll add a revised score. Do not count on it though. Final Score - 5/10 – mediocre

On a positive note – This game did introduce Tails and Silver Sonic, who would be the prototype for one of my all time favorite sonic characters, Metal Sonic.

Silver was as gentle as possible in his movements.

He wasn't sure who was being referred to, but just that it appeared someone of importance was apparent. To be spoke of in such a way, was it someone wrong? If that was the case, it was only right that Silver put a stop to it. No one would be in danger, not on this hedgehog's watch.

"Right here."

Silver may not have been taught how to read, or write, but being raised in a lab, he knew how to acknowledge certain computer skills. The only question left, was, how to crack the code? Curiously, he tried the code that worked in the future. The code Silver had figured out centuries after Eggman was supposedly gone.

...And it worked.

Entering, the water quickly drained. There was no need for him to use his psychokinesis anymore, they were completely dry.

"Whatever the system is here, they seem to think we're a part of it. Whoever made this base played a huge part of this world's timeline. Big enough that they kept the same entrance code." Rather than curiosity, there was seriousness on Silver's face. "Let's get going."

The hedgehog eyes widened as the two descended into the ocean, wishing he could change his mind. His muscles tensed up and he closed his eyes as he expected to be submerged in water, yet he didn't feel anything. To be fair, he should have expected this, but his mind wasn't in the state of mind to be rational. He opened his eyes and he wish he hadn't, seeing them descend slowly toward the man-made facility. While he was doing what he could to remain calm, his mind was panicking.

Although he did his best to help Silver with the task at hand, if it meant he didn't have to think about his current situation. He would see the crest and his eyes narrow.

"That bastard is down here?! Wonderful."

While this wasn't his Eggman, this was certainly Ray's, and by extension, Silvers, should the doctor live that long. Probably not, but it was a threat none the less. It seems like things were going to get messy.

"Yeah, we should get inside. This looks to be an airlock...Perhaps there is a keypad or...Something nearby. I wouldn't try any sensors though, that might trigger the security system. Breaking anything might also do that...And potentially make things...Unpleasant."

There was a flinch.

He didn't realize the power of Chaos could be so... extreme. Knowing this, he understood what he was being told, and was beginning to understand just what kind of jewel this was. His body still hurt, not because of his world, however. It was because of the power coursing through him.

However, Silver was learning how to channel it.

Though his entire body was no longer glowing, his hands were noticeably more luminescent than usual. This was because the markings weren't on his gloves. They were birthmarks. Something on his hands, that were impossible to get rid of. It was a sign of the emerald's power, but thankfully, as time went on, the hedgehog became even more proficient at channeling it through his body.

It happened again. This time, in Silver's control.

A portal, to Lil's home. He'd been there so many times, conversing with the cute couple. They had introduced him to so many new things. The most important one was gardening, at least, to Silver. Raising a life, even if just a plant, it was something Silver was quite passionate about.

"...Come on. Let's get these guys somewhere safe."

Despite the heavy frown on the hedgehog's face, there was a strangely positive aura about him. The energy he was channeling through the Chaos Emerald was of positive emotion. Using his psychokinesis, Silver sent the Flickies through the portal, before jumping through himself. There would be just enough time for Lil to jump in before it disappeared.

Lil' merely went with the motions. He wasn't completely coherent about what the other was going. He was too mesmerized, caught in a state of hypnosis, one could say. It wasn't until they all made their way through and Silver's outburst that he realized where he was. He came back to his senses and looked around.

Shit. Did they accidentally time travel?!

"What did you do?!"

The hedgehog's tone was in shock and horror. Was this the place the other had really come from. He wasn't lying...Not that he doubted the silver hedgehog...But still, it really sank in.

"ME?! NO! I can barely handle Chaos Energy naturally!"

Lil' realized his tone was all over the place, so he took a moment to compose himself before he continued.

"My connection with Chaos Energy is...complicated. Some say they sense an emptiness where that natural aura of a chaos user should be. My body seems to have shut itself off to the energy until relatively recently. I can sense the energy and protect myself from it when used offensively, but attempting to use anything that isn't passive hurts like hell. Even channeling it through my body hurts. Still, I have been able to tap into something when situations are dire...Or when I am pushed to the breaking point. Not something I can deliberately control, mind you."

The hedgehog pulled out a warp ring, attempting to use it, but it failed to activate. Just as he had feared. Since the memories of his places were not of this time, he couldn't use the warp ring. Not even zone hopping would have worked at this point...Not unless it was random.

"I'm not really sure we can do much else at the moment...You said it yourself, you don't think you can do it again...Unless you want to try."

"I think we should leave, before anyone notices we're here. I think... I can create..."

In a flash, there was a portal. Honestly, he wasn't sure where it lead. Whether it was linked to his memories, or something else. The glow of his psychokinesis refused to go away, he knew he had to get away from here before both of their power was detected. He didn't even realize the significance of the code he'd just typed in.

"It's... I..."

Silver normally had so much trouble accessing his power to travel through time. With this emerald, it had been much, much easier. But the other side looked dark. First things first, he lead the Flickies through the portal, giving Lil a quick look. They needed out of here. Hopping through the portal is when he realized he'd done something terrible.

Something that came from his memory, rather than his control.

This wasn't the beautiful world he'd seen. This was Silver's shelter, in the future of the planet's timeline. Why had the emerald taken them here? To the unsuspecting, the heat would have been extreme. Even the Flickies stopped flying, and rested on the hot concrete. Silver's psychokinesis was slowly easing up, as though he were growing accustomed to the power.

"Why...?"

He couldn't help but ask.

"Why here?" Silver holds his head with his free hand for a moment. "Agh, I don't think I can do that again right now. But we can't stay here."

It was only now that he noticed Lil's reaction to the energy. Eyes furrowing for a moment, he took a step back.

"Do you know how to do it, too?"

To say the entire experience was unnerving in this environment would have been an accurate assumption. For if anything happened, they could have been subjected to badniks, traps, or worse. They were still underwater and one wrong turn of events could render Silver's "safety net" no longer an option. Then they were screwed.

But with each event turning their favor, the more he wondered what would be the thing to go wrong. His nerves were really acting up. The loud beep startled him, but then he felt the surge of chaos energy come from Silver. He could feel it radiate from the silver hedgehog like a star, his own stripes on his quills now glowing brightly. His body felt like it was place on burning coals, although he had become accustomed to the sensation due to his past experiences.

Although, he felt a primal urge to get closer...To reach out to the emerald...To snatch it and drain every ounce of energy contained in this conduit like the gapping black hole; that was what others said his chaos aura felt like. Others called it a wound that never truly healed.

He would resist the urge, but it didn't stop him from staring into the emerald, his mind oblivious to everything else now. So long as Silver pulsate with this heaps of chaos energy, he would be hard pressed to pull himself out of this trace; one that he'd only been rendered helpless to once, in the recent past. Granted, this time he wasn't completely incapacitated to the point he couldn't respond.

"Yes...Yes we...should. Perhaps you could escort..."

Lil' train of though fades into the abyss, his attention consumed by the radiating energy once more.

"...I understand now."

Those were the first words spoken, upon being given the paper. He couldn't read the actual words, but he recognized the colors. Too young to get what they were really talking about, Silver hadn't understood the significance of them. To this day, he still didn't understand the true significance.

After a short glance at the paper, he entered the code.

Blue. Black. White.

BEEEEEEEEEEP!

The main records hall held the same code. There was some kind of special meaning to the order of the colors, it was entering those colors in his present, alongside Blaze, that had taught him his age, and his birthday. While Silver couldn't read any of it himself, his best feline friend was able to read everything just fine.

The machine powered down. Robots were no longer being produced, and it appeared as though the alarm system had entirely gone out. All that was left were a few lights. The Chaos Emerald itself fell to the ground. Taking a deep breath in, the hedgehog took a grab for it. When he felt the energy coursing through his body, he focused hard.

The glow from Silver's entire form, his psychokinesis, lit up the room better than any light.

Concentrate... Don't let the power overwhelm you...

With nothing more than a wave of his hand, the cage holding the Flickies opened. No loud noise made, nothing. The emerald remained in his right hand, and Silver still continued to glow. But he was more in control now than he had been previously.

"I think we need to take these little guys to the surface before we do anything else."

The blue hedgehog was startled by the loud sound, which weren't helping his nerves. He looked over to see the countdown had been reduced to 2. Thankfully no badniks showed up, although he was expecting them at some point. It was just how these things went.

"Is there anything that could jog your memory a little? Perhaps there might be..."

The hedgehog would stop when he noticed some notes by a nearby workstation. They didn't make any sense to him, but perhaps they would have for Silver. He would scoop them up and rush over to Silver to hand them to him.

"Maybe there is something in here that might give a clue? I don't understand most of this, but you might be able to recognize some of this?"

Meanwhile the smaller hedgehog would keep a lookout for anything else. Badniks, other clues, anything. It was keeping his mind off the fact they were underwater at least.

An ear flicked.

Silver had always been sensitive to other peoples emotions. He couldn't quite place what the other was feeling, other than it was something negative. That part of his psychic ability was so underdeveloped. The hedgehog himself wasn't too worried. To create a bubble of psychokinetic energy took no effort for him. At least, not usually.

"Not yet. I'm trying to think really hard on what combination lead to what room."

It had been almost ten years since he'd been in the facility he grew up in. He knew it was a three color combination, it was a matter of figuring out the colors. Delving deep within the recesses of his mind, as best he could, he made his first attempt.

Green, red, violet.

BZZZZZZZZZT!

The loud sound was enough to cause Silver to cover his ears. Clearly, this was the wrong combination. The number went down to two. In all fairness, each combination had a special meaning, at least in the facility. Green, red, and violet were the combination to the kitchen.

Green for what plants had been saved. Red for meats. Violet for any kind of special concoction they could create to add a good flavor to the mix.

After a moment to look around, it was clear that the loud buzzing hadn't alerted anything. Nothing came through the door, even minutes afterwards.

"I guess when you're in the dark, you can't expect it to go right first try." A short sigh through his nose. "I'll keep thinking, and if you find anything, let me know!"

"Then we better make sure that we get this right then. After all...I don't want to risk getting into a fight and well..." His thoughts drifted to the outside of the confines of the walls of this facility.

The vast ocean...

He couldn't let his thoughts dwell on that matter. Not now. Although, the merely brief moment was enough to rile up his anxiety again. He tried his best to keep his mind off of it and at the moment. After all, it wouldn't be helpful for Silver if they both started to freak out. Although the distraction wouldn't be enough to hide the anxiety he felt. He just hoped Silver didn't mention the cause of it.

The hedgehog would begin to search around for clues, something they needed to stop the machine. A color combination? Perhaps there were notes left behind or something they could find that had the combination stored. But perhaps it wasn't in this room. Perhaps it was in another room. This place seemed to be desolate of anything so far, but the sight of the Flickies was enough to remind Lil' that there was indeed activity in the facility. Badniks were bound to be around the place, and the person running this operation.

"Are you having any luck?" Lil' would ask the other, still looking himself as he spoke.

"I think I can understand that."

Weird. An emerald that had such an extreme power. The power to amplify his psychokinesis to an extreme degree, without even taking off his cuffs! Ideas were already swirling in his head, and he wanted to know more. What if this emerald... what if its power, could help save the world? If it could do this, what if it was able to help him further his ability to traverse the time stream?

Walking up to the machine, it was once again, something he recognized. Color coded buttons, just like the ones in G.U.N.'s lab, when he was under the age of ten. Difference was, he wasn't quite sure the combination to this one. He took a moment to think, he certainly recognized the number above the colored buttons.

Three.

He knew from experience. That meant, he had three chances to get it right. Failure to do so would result in the alarm going off. He'd set off many an alarm as a young child, and was always thrown back in his containment cell. They didn't want to outright off him, not when his powers were such an anomaly. Not until he was ten, when they essentially threw him to the wolves.

"I think I can turn it off... I hope."

Being so close to the emerald, Silver's entire body was glowing teal. The power was overflowing within him, though now that he understood what to expect, he could, to some degree, control his focus. Especially now that he had a task at hand. Having something in particular to focus on really did help him control his psychokinesis, it was when his mind wandered that he began lifting things unintentionally.

"It's a color combination. I've seen them so many times when I was younger, G.U.N. still uses this technology in the future, too. I could try on my own, but I think your idea of looking around, possibly for a combination, would be a better idea. We have three chances to get it right."

"It's like a natural power source? It's hard to explain really. It lets people do things they normally couldn't do. Your telekinesis, for example. Some people have a natural affinity for being able to use Chaos Energy, while others need a conduit to channel it."

At this point, the purple streaks along Lil's quills and body were beginning to dimly glow from being around the emerald as well. Granted, he didn't feel overloaded like Silver had, but it felt the presence. It was unsettling to him, but right now they had bigger fish to fry. They had to shut down the machine.

"That's a good question...We might be able to access a terminal to this machine to shut it down so we can get the Flickies out safely...Worst case scenario, we just start breaking stuff...After the alarm gets set off, so let's try not to do that if we can."

"I honestly don't know. Normally the emeralds don't do anything when being taken out of things like this. Someone or something has to actively use it as a conduit...But I am sure the machine is setup to set off an alarm if we try to take it out, as is. Shutting down the machine might turn off the alarm as well. Maybe there are some clues to how this thing works around here somewhere. Let's try to look around."

The hedgehog would be able to start doing that, before he paused and looked at the silver hedgehog.

"Oh, and be careful. If you see any badniks around...Try to dispose of them quickly or quietly, otherwise we'll be fighting our way out of here, if we have the choice of avoiding that outcome that is."

Deep breaths. Deep breaths.

He'd never felt such a surge of energy, not without taking his cuffs off. But Lil's calm voice went a long way in helping him process the energy. Slowly, his hands didn't glow anymore, though it was clear he was still struggling. At least things weren't lifting off the ground, as they were about to do. That probably would have set off some kind of alarm.

"...Chaos Energy? What is that?"

It felt... okay to reveal this, as this was a secret to everyone but G.U.N. back in his timeline.

"I feel a huge surge of power when I take these off."

Silver pointed to his golden cuffs. You could see the power surging through them in the line of teal energy that was a ring around the pure gold.

"It wasn't as strong, but... it was kind of like that. It makes my head really hurt."

Rubbing his head, a look of determination comes back across his face.

"I'll be okay, but I want to learn more about that... Chaos Energy thing. Later. Right now, we have a job to do. I already know how to free those animals, it's as simple as bending the bars. That's nothing for me, and it shouldn't alert anything."

He turns his attention back to the Chaos Emerald.

"But how do we get rid of this machine safely? Won't the... jewel, do something?"

Lil' looked upon the contraption with disgust. This thing, creating machines out of these beings. It was appalling to him. He was making sure they left with the Flickies. And this place wiped off the map. But now he had more important things to deal with. Like a freaking out hedgehog with what appeared to be a Chaos Emerald.

"Calm down, it's a Chaos Emerald. Freaking out is going to make it harder to control."

He would do his best to calm the hedgehog down, but he was still worried about being stuck in an underwater facility himself.

"You can use Chaos Energy, yeah? Your hands, they're glowing from the energy it's providing. You can use it for your abilties, but don't push yourself, alright? Too much energy at once, when you're not prepared, is a fickle thing."

His attention turned back to the machine.

"We need to free these creatures and take out this machine for good. It's doing nothing good."

"Right."

Upon walking in the door, there was a machine. It was creating robotics, and in a cage, there were small animals. They weren't being mistreated, just that they were locked up. Along the wall, were a line of similar looking robots. All lifeless, for the moment, and powering the machine was something that gave off an aura Silver resonated with.

A power he'd never felt before.

It was none other than the blue Chaos Emerald. The power it gave off was overwhelming, Silver could feel his psychokinesis taking more focus to control.

"What is that thing?! I-- It's too strong!"

Out of his control, Silver's hands began to shine. The Emerald was interacting with his natural ability to harness its power, and being so new to such a power source, it was difficult for him to process it. He wasn't even sure how he figured out the whole time controlling thing, let alone the power of a Chaos Emerald!

"What is it?!"

"Good to know he has a legacy..."

That statement was made sarcastically. One could tell Lil' wasn't happy to hear that. Hopefully, whatever Silver does to save his home, it would change that.

"Going to be honest, I have no idea which one to go into here. I'm sure there might be some experiments, but also there is probably some production facilities...For his badniks. Just be alert. As long was we watch each other's backs, we'll make it through this."

Lil' forgot he might have not known his figure of speech. Still, Lil' would take a quick look at the doors and pick on that looked like it was the safest. Perhaps he was looking for traps, perhaps he was looking for signs of activity. whatever it was, he could only hope the door he picked didn't turn out to be the one they shouldn't have walked into.

"That name..."

He may not have recognized the emblem, but he sure did recognize the name.

"I've heard that name mentioned by scientists. I'm not sure what kind of technology he created, but it's being studied by GUN in the future. I never saw it for myself, where I could go was pretty restricted. Most of what I know is just word of mouth."

There must have been some similarity, if the code he used in the future, worked the same as it did in the past. Maybe there was something to this man, that played a part in the release of Iblis. For that reason, the hedgehog was more alert than ever.

Silver was just as careful as he was determined. A hall, with a row of different colored doors. This didn't look familiar to him, the way the entrance area had. Letting out a short sigh, he looks over at Lil, eyes furrowed.

"I'm not sure where to go from here. I guess we should go in one of the rooms, but... which one? I heard this Robotnik person did all kinds of terrible experiments. I don't know about you, but I'm not going to let it continue, if that's what's going on here."

The blue hedgehog looked around the place. The uneasiness didn't fade. He would proceed to look around to get his bearings. He was still going to be on edge until they left this place. But he knew this place was being used by Eggman, so he had to deal with it before it became a problem.

"This place belongs to Dr. Robotnik...Otherwise known as Eggman. He's not a very nice guy, to put it lightly. If he has something down here, then he's up to no good. We should take a look around. Stay vigilant, once his bots spot us then we're going to be fighting our way through here."

He would stick with the other, carefully moving through this complex. He had no idea what was going to be here, but he hoped the doctor wasn't home, so to speak, or even one of his goons. Last thing he needed was to make things more complicated.

"I'd never ask anyone to do something dangerous unless it was really important."

Upon the other walking closer, Silver encompassed him in a large bubble. Way larger than necessary, as to give Lil plenty of breathing room. Entering the water, one could see it completely avoid getting inside of said bubble. There was a convenience to a power like Silvler's. It wasn't just for fighting. But he also couldn't maintain this forever, which was why he didn't dare go any deeper.

Only a few feet down, was the opening the hedgehog had spoke of. On the opening's door, Eggman's Crest. Seems he was at work in this world, just much more secretly.

"Something can't be right here. I want to see what's inside. Do you have any idea how to make it work?"

Lil' would watch nervously, awaiting for Silver to resurface. After all, this was all really nerve wracking. Perhaps for the other it was nothing, but the deep water made Lil's demeanor change so drastically. However the quickness of the exploration was also a bit surprising.

The words that came out of the silver hedgehog didn't really fill the other with assurance. In fact, the mention of going down there sent goosebumps up the small hedgehog's spine. The thought of going down there, after what he had been through rather recently.

Well he certainly had those memories fresh in his mind.

"Please tell me this is a cruel joke...Because it's not funny at all."

There was a bit of desperation in his voice. He really was hoping the other wasn't serious, but he knew that Silver probably wasn't. The other was very literal, mostly. Besides, he wouldn't have been surprised for him to not know what he, himself, was going through.

"Look Silver, water and I don't mix. I sink like a rock...Just..."

There was a moment of hesitation. Lil' had to consider that what actually might have been down. He was silently cursing to himself before giving Silver a stern look. He had made up his mind.

"Fine...Just don't expect this to be easy for me, alright."

Down he went, absolutely amazed by how different things looked.

More importantly than the fish swimming around, the hedgehog came across what appeared to be a manmade tunnel. It was of glass, with an entrance just hanging out of the shoreline. Curious, Silver inspected what appeared to be the opening. Required some kind of pass, or button combination. Lil knew more about this part of the timeline than he did.

Maybe there was a connection.

Raising up out of the water, Silver hovers above. His arms are crossed, and there's a soft frown on his face. It was a good thing Lil wasn't far, or the hedgehog might have lost the right point of the entrance.

"Hey,Lil? There's something I think you really need to see."

The concept of Eggman was long gone by Silver's time, so he didn't recognize the symbolism. Maybe Lil would.

"Don't worry, I'll protect you. Someone built... something, but I can't figure out what it means. I'll only need your help for a little bit, and I promise I'll keep you safe down there."

Lil' watched as Silver seemed to have seen something the water, something that he didn't see. Perhaps he misinterpreted his own phobia for something in the water. If that was the case, he could only be worried about Silver. But he watched the other hedgehog put an air bubble around himself almost effortlessly. Quite interesting.

"Your abilities are something to behold, I will give you that. Are you sure you want to go down there? I don't think I would be much help if something happens while you are down there, unfortunately."

He merely watched the other, hoping he wasn't about to accidentally send Silver into trouble based on a misunderstanding, but he couldn't know if that was for certain.

"I'll be waiting...Please be careful."

"Well that's disappointing."

He knew if you tried to breathe it in where he was from, the ash would choke you. But it seemed that the element was unique to all water. Maybe someday he could find a way to explore, for now, there was still so much to see up here! Levitating, Silver lands back on his feet. As for that fear, the hedgehog could pick up on it. There was something about that expression.

Some kind of fear. Something was wrong. But what, he didn't know. Couldn't even begin to fathom what Lil must have seen. In turn, it sorta put fear into Silver's heart, as well. It was pretty big... and pretty deep. Curiosity over fear. He was supposed to be brave, right? Silver was a legal adult, Arrow had taught him that.

"I have an idea I want to test. Don't worry, you don't have to get wet or anything.

Both hands were held straight out, and around his body, an orb of psychokinetic energy. Then, slowly, he took steps, down the sandy slope. Silver did not get wet in the slightest while doing so, fully protected by his safety bubble. To keep it around himself took next to no effort, nor would it really take any effort to have Lil come with him. But he wasn't about to push the other into doing something he didn't want to do.

Silver turned to his friend with a grin.

""Seems to work! You can stay up here, I have to see what's at the bottom of this slope!"

"Well impurities and water can make it undrinkable. Boiling the water to collect the vapor elsewhere is a common method of purifying the water to make it drinkable. I wouldn't try to drink the ocean water either. The salt in the water would dehydrate you more than it would help."

While Lil' wasn't fond of being in the deep waters, he could manage being on the beach. Shallow water, while not the most pleasent, was okay for him, in the right circumstances. It was the only reason he was with Silver now. Letting him explore the beach and hanging out with him. For some reason, Lil' felt obligated to teach Silver in a way. Perhaps he saw a bit of himself in the other.

"There is plenty of life in the waters of the ocean, rivers, lakes, what have you. Some plants are able to grow down there, while beings like fish and other wildlife. Although, many animals that live down there have adapted to being able to do so. While we breathe the air up here, they have gills instead of lungs to be able to breathe underwater. If they were to be brought up here and kept on the surface, they would certainly suffocate much like we would being stuck down there. Other animals without these gills have to come up to the surface periodically to get fresh air. Perhaps one day I-"

The mention of exploring the ocean gave the blue hedgehog pause. There was no way he could agree to that willingly. After all, he couldn't swim and even if this hedgehog could hold him...No there were too many issues. Hell, he barely made it through his own underwater adventures.

"Heheh, how about we stay up here. Plunging into the ocean is...Something I would rather not experience again if I don't have to."

The expression of fear and discomfort was brief, but enough to be noticeable.
