OLIVIA COOKE IN THE INTERVIEW FOR ELLE MAGAZINE.
TALKING ABOUT ALICENT'S RELATIONSHIP WITH HER CHILDREN IN S2.
She must handle her sons “as the power goes to their head and they see her as irrelevant.”
“She’s terrified of Aemond and what he’s become, and she can’t access Helaena.”
As Alicent slowly becomes invisible, it’s also strangely liberating, “because all of a sudden eyes aren’t on her and she can sort of do whatever she wants.”
ABOUT FILMING THE SEX SCENES IN S2.
When it came to sex scenes, Cooke worked closely with House of the Dragon’s intimacy coordinator, Vanessa Coffey. Given Game of Thrones’ reputation for nudity, she had originally braced herself.
“I thought there’d be way more, and so I’m relieved that when it has been used for me, it’s showing Alicent being pleasured, which is amazing and doesn’t feel gratuitous.”
“It feels like we’re telling a story.”
She recalls one bedroom scene she filmed that was cut: “It was messy as fuck. It wasn’t beautiful, and that was really fun to do.”
It was “carnal” and even “animalistic.”
“I think Ryan [Condal, the showrunner] said we weren’t learning any more about the characters, which I disagree with slightly, but it’s okay. It’s his show,” she adds, with no hard feelings."
"Maybe we’ll see it in the bloopers, she says, laughing."
ABOUT THE CAST OF HOTD.
OLIVIA COOKE:
“They’re like my family, and we adore each other.”
TOM GLYNN-CARNEY:
“We put the wigs on and the costumes on, and all hell breaks loose.”
TEAM GREEN TALKING ABOUT OLIVIA COOKE.
FABIEN FRANKEL:
“She’s a dear friend and a great giggler.”
PHIA SABAN:
Who shared many scenes with Cooke this season as Alicent’s daughter Helaena, remembers their antics while filming an otherwise somber procession scene.
“We just got really hyper, and it became a little bit of a chamber of music actually.”
“Lots of singing.”
EWAN MITCHELL:
“I think Liv’s performance this year is one for the gods.”
TALKING ABOUT RHAENICENT.
“They practiced proper adult relationships on each other” Cooke says of the severed friendship.
“When you break up with a friend, it’s so much more heartbreaking than breaking up with a lover a lot of the time, because they know every single part of you and it’s so much more vulnerable.”
And of course, parts of the fandom ship Rhaenicent, a.k.a. Rhaenyra and Alicent as a couple.
“Don’t they ship everyone together, though?” Cooke asks when I bring up the imagined romance.
A fair point, but wouldn’t things be better if the old pals just made up and ruled the kingdom together?
Cooke humors me. “Absolutely. Matriarchy now, please.”
EMMA D'ARCY TALKING ABOUT HER FRIENDSHIP WITH OLIVIA COOKE.
“It’s funny to talk about a friendship that is so fundamental in your life.”
“The thing I find strange is to realize that I suppose we haven’t known each other that long in broad terms, but she’s a pillar in my life."
"I would have found this a challenging experience if Liv was not on it.”

|| COUNTDOWN || SEASON 1 EPISODE 03 || THE WAY OUT ||
#83daysofoutlander☆
"Oh, aye " Jamie sat forward a bit in anticipation, then realizing that he blocked my view, insisted that I sit on the other side of him, displacing Laoghaire down the bench. I could see the girl was not best pleased at this arrangement, and I tried to protest that I was all right as I was, but he was firm about it."No, you'll see and hear better there. And then, if he speaks in the Gaelic, I can whisper in your ear what he says."Each part of the bard's performance had been greeted with warm applause, though people chatted quietly while he played, making a deep hum below the high, sweet strains of the harp. But now a sort of expectant hush descended on the hall. Gwyllyn's speaking voice was as clear as his singing, each word pitched to reach the end of the high, drafty hall without strain.
"It was a time, two hundred years ago… "
He spoke in English, and I felt a sudden sense of déjà vu. It was exactly the way our guide on Loch Ness had spoken, telling legends of the Great Glen.It was not a story of ghosts or heroes, though, but a tale of the Wee Folk he told."There was a clan of the Wee Folk as lived near Dundreggan," he began. "And the hill there is named for the dragon that dwelt there, that Fionn slew and buried where he fell, so the dun is named as it is. And after the passing of Fionn and the Feinn, the Wee Folk that came to dwell in the dun came to want mothers of men to be wet nurses to their own fairy bairns, for a man has something that a fairy has not, and the Wee Folk thought that it might pass through the mothers' milk to their own small ones."Now, Ewan MacDonald of Dundreggan was out in the dark, tending his beasts, on the night when his wife bore her firstborn son. A gust of the night wind passed by him, and in the breath of the wind he heard his wife's sighing. She sighed as she sighed before the child was born, and hearing her there, Ewan MacDonald turned and flung his knife into the wind in the name of the Trinity. And his wife dropped safe to the ground beside him.
"The story was received with a sort of collective "ah" at the conclusion, and was quickly followed by tales of the cleverness and ingenuity of the Wee Folk, and others about their interactions with the world of men. Some were in Gaelic and some in English, used apparently according to which language best fitted the rhythm of the words, for all of them had a beauty to the speaking, beyond the content of the tale itself. True to his promise, Jamie translated the Gaelic for me in an undertone, so quickly and easily that I thought he must have heard these stories many times before. There was one I noticed particularly, about the man out late at night upon a fairy hill, who heard the sound of a woman singing "sad and plaintive" from the very rocks of the hill. He listened more closely and heard the words:"I am the wife of the Laird of BalnainThe Folk have stolen me over again."So the listener hurried to the house of Balnain and found there the owner gone and his wife and baby son missing. The man hastily sought out a priest and brought him back to the fairy knoll. The priest blessed the rocks of the dun and sprinkled them with holy water. Suddenly the night grew darker and there was a loud noise as of thunder. Then the moon came out from behind a cloud and shone upon the woman, the wife of Balnain, who lay exhausted on the grass with her child in her arms. The woman was tired, as though she had traveled far, but could not tell where she had been, nor how she had come there.Others in the hall had stories to tell, and Gwyllyn rested on his stool to sip wine as one gave place to another by the fireside, telling stories that held the hall rapt. Some of these I hardly heard. I was rapt myself, but by my own thoughts, which were tumbling about, forming patterns under the influence of wine, music, and fairy legends."It was a time, two hundred years ago… "It's always two hundred years in Highland stories, said the Reverend Wakefield's voice in memory.
The same thing as "Once upon a time," you know.
And women trapped in the rocks of fairy duns, traveling far and arriving exhausted, who knew not where they had been, nor how they had come there.I could feel the hair rising on my forearms, as though with cold, and rubbed them uneasily.
Two hundred years. From 1945 to 1743; yes, near enough. And women who traveled through the rocks. Was it always women? I wondered suddenly.Something else occurred to me.
The women came back. Holy water, spell, or knife, they came back. So perhaps, just perhaps, it was possible. I must get back to the standing stones on Craigh na Dun.
I felt a rising excitement that made me feel a trifle sick, and I reached for the wine goblet to calm myself.

Iced Lemon Tea and Vanilla Latte, please😌
Iced Lemon Tea : Favorite song/band?
My all-time favorite band is Panic! At the Disco. They were my first concert, I've loved them for almost 20 years (why does looking at my life in terms of how long I've held an interest or known someone make me feel so much older than saying I'm almost 30 does????) and was so sad when the last member finally said they were over.
As far as favorite song, it's currently Ewan Mcgregor singing Sweetest Gift. It's been my comfort song for the last 6ish months. Between his beautiful vocals and the lovely instrumentals it helps soothe me so much when I'm stressed.
Vanilla Latte : Board games or drinking games?
On a regular basis? Board games. I like drinking games, but I don't usually drink more than one or two beer/cider/glass of wine when I drink. And when I do drink more I go hard and just go right for the shots so it's not as conducive for casual drinking games. 😂
Thanks for the ask!! 💖💖

A Letter to the Person Considering Suicide (not mine)
Dear Person Considering Suicide,
If you kill yourself, a bunch of weird stuff is not going to happen to you.
For example, a man in an old suit jacket (the kind of jacket with elbow patches) will not come up to you and your group of friends tomorrow and say, “Y’all ain’t nothing but a bunch of spices.”
I know you’re in a lot of pain, but there may be no more extraordinarily weird moment than the spice moment. Then again, there may be a weirder moment than the spice moment; trouble is, you’ve got to stick around to find out.
Please don’t think I am trying to say I understand. I’m just writing to tell you not to miss the spice moments. I know I can’t understand exactly what you’re going through. And it doesn’t really matter what experiences I’ve had or how similar they are to what’s making you feel so hopeless you’d rather die than continue experiencing them. We are individuals, and we are different.
But I love you.
Right, I know—I can’t love you because I don’t know you and therefore my love is nothing more than a platitude to keep you on the planet. Don’t resist my love. The last person who resisted my love regretted it because I wound up outside their apartment singing a Moulin Rouge show tune dressed as Ewan McGregor.
But no, I’m serious. I love you in the way that humans are capable of loving people they don’t know. It’s like the thin icing on top of a cake; the love is made up of all these ingredients that don’t cost much—patience and gentleness and goodwill—but when spread across the surface they make everything better.
Asking you to hold on another day may not seem fair. If you’re considering suicide, you’ve probably been holding on for what feels like a painfully long time already. Chances are, people don’t even realize how tough you’ve been so you’re not getting any credit for that either. Congratulations, you. Congratulations for holding on. I can’t see ending this letter without a video game metaphor, so when I ask you to hold on until tomorrow and until the next day and until the day after that, pretend you’re playing the longest video game ever created—each day is a level to beat.
If you need a name for the video game, call it Spice Moments. After all, the spice moments are why I am asking you to stay alive. I’m asking you to stay alive for the weird. I beg you to stay alive for the friends you don’t know you have, or even the friends you don’t have yet who need you. I respectfully request that you not blow me off because you think I don’t understand. I’m asking you to take my letter to heart because we are similar in our humanity.
No one else may ask you not to kill yourself today. Please don’t let my letter be a missed opportunity. Don’t let the bond we are developing as you read pass us by. Let’s make cake together. Even if we never meet in person, let’s make so much cake together. As much cake as we can stand.
I leave you with these final words of encouragement—
If in ten years, while walking down the street (you being very much alive), you see a woman dressed up as Ewan McGregor singing the verse, “All you need is love,” while serving cake to strangers…well, that’s not me.
Though, to be honest, I’d be privileged to meet you ten years from now.
No, it won’t be me. But it will be one of your spice moments. It’ll be weird and wonderful, and it’ll be waiting for you.
With love,
A friend

Infodump about batb to me, I don't care how long, how niche, I want to hear all of it
You shouldn't have told me this- now I'm never gonna shut up-
Uhh I'm going to talk about the 2017 movie and all the things I like about it because I'm feeling positive!
Lefou (I love canon gays)
JOSH GAD IS PERFECTION. He knew exactly what he was doing and really made Lefou his own! His interactions with Luke Evans (Gaston) are so fun and the best part? He acts like a real human, not a punching bag for Gaston! They knew it wouldn't translate well in live action! Good on them! Not to mention Josh Gad's wonderful voice! Also, LOOK HOW CUTE??
Garderobe (Madame de la Grande Bouche) and Cadenza
Audra Mcdonald has a HEAVENLY voice. I'm not a fan of her enchanted object design, but she has a GORGEOUS human design! I love Cadenza being Madame's accompanist and husband! He loves her so much, and he's smiling in EVERY HAPPY SCENE WITH HER. They're just such a nice couple fr
Plumette (and Lumiere)
Ok I HATE that Plumette is a bird and named Plumette, but she's GORGEOUS and I like her attitude! I just wish there was more of her, especially her singing! The actress is a very pretty singer! I don't like Ewan McGregor as a singer, but as an actor, I think he's alright! Lumiere and Plumette are literally adorable-
Dan Steven's Evermore
He's just- an amazing Beast in terms of vocals! He's got so much emotion, yet still sounds beastly!!! Love that guy's voice!
One specific part of Be Our Guest
That one part "with your meal, with your eyes! Yes indeed, we aim to please! While the candlelight's still glowing, let us help you, we'll keep going!" It scratches my brain!!
Days in the Sun
As a standalone song, it's beautiful. In terms of the movie, it's too dark and gloomy. I do really enjoy the way everyone sounds, though!!
Ok I'm done infodumping for now- hopefully I don't get too much hate because the batb fandom hates this movie but ah well

time for pixie sw opinions!:
3, 11, 20
3. What are midichlorians? Wrong answers only please.
Trandoshan hors d'oeuvres. Delicious, truly.
11. Who would you want as your Jedi master? (Why)
Luke or Ezra. Because their heads aren't stuck up their asses like Ahsoka's is and I feel like they're a lot kinder and more understanding than most other masters. Also their youth and upbringing makes them less likely to indulge in what I call Jedi Bullshit, which is to say speaking in useless riddles for no discernable reason whatsoever.
20. Please describe in as much detail as possible the signature scent of Ewan McGregor and/or Obi-Wan. (Are they different? Probably)
I have literally no memory of how Ewan McGregor smelt. Presumably he smelt normal, at least he didn't smell bad in a way that I noticed, but then again I don't go around sniffing strangers like some fucking weirdo.
Obi-Wan smells like clean linen and his current favourite tea in his downtime. That's his normal smell. During the war there's always a hint of sweat and blaster singeing, and the weird, sharp nothing smell of too much time spent in deep space, but it's a lot less than others (Anakin, for example, reeks sometimes).

Back to the “impenetrable forest”
3rd March 2023
The morning drummer at Kisiizi
After the wake-up drum at 6.30 am, morning prayers at Kisiizi are well attended. A choir of nursing students sings in typical African harmony, accompanied by classic African drumming, and people in the congregation of staff and visitors are often blown away if they haven’t heard this music before. A short homily is followed by the orders for the day, visitors are welcome (and are expected to make a sort of speech!) and the staff disperse to the day’s work.
Morning prayers at Bwindi
Prayers at Bwindi in the sunshine today were accompanied by a keyboard (that’s a change) but as always, by singing in harmony, in the local language of Rukigwa; familiar tunes, but often I find it very tricky to fit the all syllables into the music.
The hills around the hospital are beautiful, swallows swooping through the trees, and we were pleased to see some new buildings since we were last here.
New medical ward with dining room above.
It was fun to discover that Scott Kellerman was at Bwindi when we arrived – the hospital was his creation and he remains a significant influence. Lovely to see him, and a host of young students and doctors, some having their first experience of tropical medicine. This lunchtime an American second year student was hugely excited at having helped with a Caesarean delivery on his very first morning. Mother and baby doing well.
We first came to Bwindi in 2013, when Kuule, who leads both the MH service and community development (great combination) had been recently appointed, and the dynamic young executive director was beginning to “create a healthy community”. They have made wonderful progress in developing and improving mental health services as part of that, and it’s been exciting to see.
First part of the day’s work is signing the Visitors’ Book - always!
The morning was taken up with Kuule’s report, much of it very encouraging. Kuule has taken seriously Ewan’s encouragement to turn data into information. As a result their figures are much more meaningful and they can begin to see how well they are doing in keeping patients well and preventing relapses.
There is great improvement in services at the level of community health centres. Hurrah – one of the strategies which makes the most difference to patient care. If the service is close to home, they are much more likely to attend, become known by the team, and encouraged to stay on the necessary treatment.
In some cases health centre staff are providing psychosocial interventions. Readmissions are down, new patient referrals are up – more hurrahs from me! All of this means that gradually the quality and coverage of mental health care is improving at Bwindi and the surrounding district. It’s unique in Uganda with this level of development. Wow.
Kuule also presented a series of challenges. Finance (not enough money anywhere), staff recruitment and retention (government has recently increased their salaries to nearly double the private-not-for profit-hospitals – ouch). Frequent turnover of staff means Kuule is constantly needing to monitor and mentor newly qualified or otherwise inexperienced colleagues. The increasingly successful patient follow-up attendances and lots of new patients is great, but does result in more work.
Ewan had a useful catch up meeting with the head accountant. Helpfully they are spending a bit less than budgeted.
We met the acting Executive Director with Kuule and discussed the challenges. Not a lot we can do about the government paying their staff so much!
We are enjoying the new guest accommodation at Bwindi. The hospital is very close to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where the gorillas live. Occasionally they come down to local gardens. None have come down to where we are, not so far, anyway.
We went for a walk after the rain shower and saw lots of children heading home from school including this family.
who then all got on the motorcycle taxi!
We walked as far as the local football field where some schools were playing.
Local footie and the Premier League gets everywhere.

It was exactly the way our guide on Loch Ness had spoken, telling legends of the Great Glen.It was not a story of ghosts or heroes, though, but a tale of the Wee Folk he told.
"There was a clan of the Wee Folk as lived near Dundreggan," he began. "And the hill there is named for the dragon that dwelt there, that Fionn slew and buried where he fell, so the dun is named as it is. And after the passing of Fionn and the Feinn, the Wee Folk that came to dwell in the dun came to want mothers of men to be wet nurses to their own fairy bairns, for a man has something that a fairy has not, and the Wee Folk thought that it might pass through the mothers' milk to their own small ones.
"Now, Ewan MacDonald of Dundreggan was out in the dark, tending his beasts, on the night when his wife bore her firstborn son.
The woman was tired, as though she had traveled far, but could not tell where she had been, nor how she had come there.
Others in the hall had stories to tell, and Gwyllyn rested on his stool to sip wine as one gave place to another by the fireside, telling stories that held the hall rapt.
