~~~NEW UPDATE~~~
(I'M A DUMBASS WHO DOESN'T KNOW HOW TUMBLR WORKS SO IF YOU SAW THIS ALREADY NO YOU DIDN'T)
I'm glad people liked my 4コマ KINGS post so much lol. I love spreading the word about obscure lore :)
Under the cut I've responded to some of my favorite tags, given a little more backstory into the source of these pictures, as well as posted a few new ones :D
There's also a question at the very bottom that I'd love to hear opinions on, but no pressure if y'all don't feel comfortable answering ^w^
Tumblr media
You're welcome >:D
Tumblr media
Same, bro. I was basically thinking that the entire time I was reading these books lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like I should give a little context to these comics and where they come from lol. I wasn't very clear about the backstory in my original post. I do agree, when I found these, I thought they were super important, too, particularly because I don't think a lot of the fandom knows about these books lol.
The Danganronpa 4コマ KINGS anthology series was published in the early 2010's featuring a bunch of different artists. The series is 4 volumes long and published by Spike Chunsoft, meaning, while these aren't necessarily canon, they ARE official :)
There is another series of anthologies in relation to both the first and second games, but I don't have those.
The first two volumes of this series is relatively well documented. There are sites where English translations have already been added to all of the comics in them (I'm pretty sure), as well as some screenshots popping up on places like Pinterest.
The third and fourth installments, however, are really poorly archived. The third has some content from it floating around, but it's hard to come by. The fourth had almost no information on it no matter where I searched.
I say this because a while ago I found the ONLY pictures of the Mastermind!Taka comic on this really old Tumblr blog from 2014 and REALLY wanted to figure out what it was about. (Didn't help that I couldn't read some of the bubbles in those photos.) First I searched for an English translation (there wasn't (so I'm working on one hehe)), then I tried to find which book it was even from, and NOTHING!
These books, since they were in circulation around 2014-ish, have stopped being printed, so copies of them are very hard to come by. Luckily, I was able to get my copies from a kind stranger on Ebay :)
-NOW-
Here are a few more pictures that I thought were funny/interesting that I couldn't add in my first post because of the picture limit lol.
Sorry for the really long post, I just thought it'd be interesting to share :)
Here's the page of artists that contributed to this anthology! Please go check them out (or see if they have any socials since it's been so long). Some credits change per volume, hence how many photos there are. (And sorry for my hand, it's hard to hold these open lol.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You've probably all seen the covers, but have you seen what's behind the covers? (Also including the opening illustrations. These have probably been posted online already as well, but they're worth including imo.) (Again, please excuse the fingers, I'm trying my best ;-;)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ Sayaka came with a smudge :( she still pretty tho
So, uh, remember when I said Hifumi made ship fodder? ......Here it is. Eat your heart out lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also remember when I said that Mondo's hair was fluffy and bouncy? Here's the proof:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sakura has been de-buff-ified twice LMAO
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ALSO remember when I said Syo was a fan of BL? ...... :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ALSO remember when I said Kyoko was kinda socially awkward?
(Context: Kyoko sees Kiyotaka and Mondo calling each other bro and, thinking it'll strengthen their bond as well, calls Makoto "Makoto-oniichan," or "big brother Makoto" lol. Also, second picture says "I have come to save you, Makoto")
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chihiro Shinji chair meme
Tumblr media
I'm at my picture cap, but there's a lot I haven't brought up lol
-SO-
For a different thread, would people like me to find pictures of certain characters? (i.e. just photos of the characters looking cool/hot/stupid without a lot of the text.) Because I am totally willing to do that :)
I've already got a lot on Byakuya, Sakura, Aoi and Mondo for all you simps out there, and it's not hard to find even more lol.
So lmk :D
Chapter 3: Discussion Previous part: CH-2 Next part: Not here! ( •̯́ ₃ •̯̀) Word count: 4,299 Summary: Everyone gathers together to discuss what they've found Author note: Should I remove the "Main paring: Toko x gen!neutral reader" In my posts? It's still a Toko x reader long-fic but Im worried my chapters will be confused for one-shots lol, should I just leave that information on the first prologue??
With a hesitant nod, you let Sayaka pull you to an unoccupied chair beside her on the left. Across from her sat Makoto, his expression brightening at the sight of you, relief washing over his features. It seemed you had given him a bit of a scare as well.
In addition to Sayaka, you found yourself next to Taka…great. “Okay…now that everyone is here, we can start right?” Leon questioned. “Ah, yes! Let’s—”
“WAIT.” Taka interrupted Sayaka, his gaze sweeping across the dining area. “Dammit! What now!?” Mondo snapped, frustration evident in his voice.
“Someone’s not here…” his voice laced with caution. “There’s only fifteen of us here…”
“Um…” Junko murmured, absentmindedly twisting a strand of her pigtail. “Oh right! That silver-haired girl!” She snapped her fingers, her eyes lighting up. “What was her name again…?”
“KYOKO!...She’s not here!” Taka burst out, his tone filled with theatrical despair. “First Y/n kept us waiting for an hour and a half, and now KYOKO?!...Is she going to be late too??...And neither of them bothered to inform anyone! Such an unbecoming personality trat…”
You shot him a frustrated look, disbelief etched across your face. Seriously? You’re literally sitting next to him.
“You’re being a real jackass right now, you know that? Y/n is right beside you!” Junko exclaimed, her voice rising in exasperation.
“Well what do you want me to do?! Punctuality is everything!” he retorted, his voice sharp. “Besides, Y/n has already delayed the meeting by nearly two hours!” His fist tightened as he shouted once more. “So, without further ado, I hereby announce the commencement of the first session of Hope’s Peak Academy briefing meetings!”
You just might hate this guy...just a little bit.
“….Okay…since Makoto is in the dark about all this, let me lay out what’s been going on. Everyone split up to investigate different parts of the building, but…” As she pressed her finger to her lips, a thoughtful expression crossed her face. “Byakuya and Taka each went off on their own, and so did Kyoko. It looks like Leon, Hiro, Junko and Chihiro all grouped up together. The same goes for Hina, Sakura, and Mondo. Celeste, Toko, and Hifumi were left over, so they joined up.”
“And as for me, I teamed up with Y/n to explore our dorms.” Sayaka smiled as she gestured towards you. “Explore your dorms h-huh? I hardly call ditching your classmate and taking a n-nap exploring.” You felt a twitch in your eye as you turned to locate the source of the voice… it was Toko.
“Come on…not you too.” Sayaka whined. “What? You know I’m right.” Toko shot back, her tone sharp.
“I’m…fully aware I held up the meeting. I’m sorry, okay? but can we please continue?” you murmured, trying your best not to raise your voice at Toko. You didn’t exactly have a right to either…cause’ this is your fault and you knew that. But her rubbing it in your face doesn’t make you feel good either.
“Yes, let’s continue the discussion.” Byakuya interjected, adjusting his glasses with a flick of his wrist. “I have no desire to waste any more time with you all than absolutely necessary,” he declared, casting a disdainful glance in your direction.
Toko rolled her eyes as she nibbled on her nail, a faint pink hue dusting her cheeks. “Whatever…”
Byakuya stood with his arms crossed, his expression stoic. “Anywho…I wanted to try and find some clue as to who’s responsible for imprisoning us here…But unfortunately, I made no such discoveries. That’s all from me.”
Taka looks at him in disbelief. “Really? That’s it?”
“If I’d uncovered anything, naturally I would have more to say. But I didn’t. So I don’t.” He responds flatly.
Taka nodded. “R-right, understood…As for me, I spent some time looking around the dormitory, and…!” He spread his arms wide, a gleam of excitement in his eyes. “There I made the discovery of the century! I found that were was exactly one room for each person!”
What? You and Sayaka discovered that first..!
“Uh, actually…me and Sayaka did that first.” you chimed in, watching as Taka’s enthusiasm wavered. “What?! Really?!...So…I haven’t done anything??!” he exclaimed, his voice rising in disbelief.
“Eiter way… I figured that out before anything else…” Aoi said with a casual shrug.
Junko chimed in, her voice laced with curiosity. “Each door already has a nameplate on it, so I guess all the rooms have been assigned already.”
Sakura nodded in agreement,  “And each room key was attached to a keychain with the other’s name precision-etched onto it.” She glanced at Junko, who added, “And Chihiro and I found out that all the rooms are totally soundproof.”
Chihiro's voice was soft, almost a whisper. “Your next-door neighbor could scream their lungs out, and you wouldn’t hear a thing…”
“Well, each room also had a private bathroom, which could also lock.” Celeste states a little happily, she seems to be happy about that specifically. “but it looked like there were only locks on the bathrooms in the girls’ dorms.” Junko states.
Locks on the bathrooms? You didn’t get around to actually using the bathroom…so you don’t know if you have a lock or not. You’ll have to make a mental note to check on that.
Mondo crossed his arms, a frown playing on his lips. “Okay, so they got a bunch of rooms ready for us. They’re assuming were gonna be here a while.”
“Well, better to have than have not! At least we don’t have to worry about surviving like wild animals.” Taka confidently assures.
“Th-that cant be all you have to r-report, can it Mr. Honnor s-student?” Toko sassily asks, to which Taka funnily ignores. “That’s all for my report! Let’s move on to whoever’s next!”
Junko twirls her hair as she began to speak again. “Umm…we went all up and down the school, double-checking the windows in all the hallways and classes. We wanted to see if we could get any of those metal plates to come off. And what happened was…”
“Nothing. Not a damn thing! We couldn’t get a single one to budge even a little bit.” Leon ran his fingers through his fiery red hair, frustration evident in his voice.
Well..to be fair Leon, you don’t think he would’ve been able to do much.
“There wasn’t any hope of escape anywhere…The school really has been totally cut off…” Chihiro's voice trembled as she spoke, “This sucks..” Junko whines. “It really sucks! It sucks sucks sucks sucks SUCKS! What the hell are we gonna do!?”
There’s no hope of escape?...you weren’t going to lie, you suspected this would happen. If the police had already known you all were missing and there was an opening somewhere, surely they’d already be here by now but…that’s not the case sadly. You really needed that nap because if you hadn’t took it, you might have panicked badly.
“Goddamn, calm down! You’re starting to make me nervous!” Leon complained, his voice rising in pitch. “Really? No opening at all..?” You groaned. Aoi shakes her head, crossing her arms. “We thought maybe we could find a way to communicate with the outside, so we went looking all over!” She sighs. “But...we didn't find a thing. Sorry...”
“I went back to the main hall, thinking maybe we could do something about that giant hunk of metal.” Mondo said, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. “But even with Sakura and me both, it wouldn't budge. We hit it with desks and chairs, and nothin'... It was hard as, like...metal.”
You mentally slapped your forehead, and Celeste merely remarked, “Well, yes, it *is* metal...”
“Anyway, if we're gonna get outta here, it's not gonna be through there.” he grumbled.
“I feel like I could just cry... But no, I have to hold it in! I have to manage my hydration...!” Aoi states sadly, but Sakura didn’t seem to appear as upset. “ I shall tell you what happened next... It has nothing to do with communicating with the outside world, but it's still worth worrying about. In both the school and dorm areas, there was a set of stairs leading up to another floor.”
“But there were gates there, and we couldn't find any way to open them, so we couldn't check it out.” Aoi replies.
 “In other words, at this point we are only able to search the 1st floor.” Sakura crosses her arms. “We can further assume that there is potentially something above the 2nd floor, as well. And if that's the case, there is at least a chance it may lead to a way out.”
Celeste casually twirled a lock of her hair, her voice smooth and unbothered. “If I am being honest, I can't quite say we acted as one. Rather, we did *nothing* as one. We spent the entire time in the gym.”
She clasped her hands together, a hint of guilt flickering in her eyes, yet her demeanor remained casual. “Honestly, we are not exactly the types to go running around a school like a gaggle of junior detectives.”
You stare at her in disbelief. Well…yeah, you didn’t do much either with that nap and all but…at least you explored your dorm. That’s something right? It’s progress.
Junko’s voice cut through the air, laced with irritation. “What the hell were you thinking, just sitting around the gym the whole time?” Toko shot a glare at Junko, her frustration bubbling over. “W-Well it's not like any of you i-invited me along! Nobody said hey, c-come with us! I blame y-you for leaving me out! I-It's your fault!”
“If you wanted to go with someone, you should've just said something! Hell, I even tried to pair you with Y/n!” Junko shot back, her temper flaring. “Hmph. F-Forget it. Like I'd w-want to go anywhere with them.”
You turned to Toko, confusion etched on your face. “What’s wrong with me?!” you asked, narrowing your eyes at her. She merely averted her gaze, muttering under her breath. What a strange girl.
“Ah…well…so that’s what they have to say, huh? Hm…what else…oh, right!” Sayaka clapped her hands together, “aside from exploring the dorms of course, I went and had a look around the dining hall… I found a fridge in the back of the kitchen, and it was overflowing with all kinds of stuff.” She beamed. “I guess we don't have to worry about food at least.”
“What? When did you do that?” you asked, curiosity piqued.
“Well..after I couldn’t find you after looking around my own dorm I went somewhere else!” She replies.
You nod, “Right…yeah.”
“Sure, we have food for now. But even with all that, there are sixteen of us. How long can the food last...?” Hifumi said, his voice heavy with concern. “Y-You can just eat sesame s-seeds or something...” Toko shot back sarcastically, earning a bewildered look from Hifumi. “Huh? What am I, a parakeet?”
“I don't think we have to worry about it. All the food gets restocked automatically each day.” Sayaka reassured them. “At least, that's what Monokuma said...”
“You saw him!?” Junko exclaimed, her eyes wide. “Yeah, he came out of nowhere while I was checking the fridge, told me that, then disappeared again. He was so fast, I can't believe someone could have been moving him around with a remote control...”
“I can back up Sayaka on that. After I checked my dorm, Monokuma popped up right behind me!” You say as you remember him almost giving you a mini heart attack. you recalled, the memory still sending a shiver down your spine. “And after he finished… um, ‘scolding’ me, he just vanished.”
“He did?” Sayaka looked at you, surprise etched on her face. “Yeah… he didn’t hurt me or anything, but it was still unsettling.”
Toko scoffed, rolling her eyes. “Y-yeah… a teddy bear… very terrifying…” You shot her a glare. “Hey!” you retorted. “You’ve seen what he can do! He almost blew up Mondo earlier! Don’t give me that look!”
Toko finished a little in shock, which didn’t seem to faze you too much, but both Sayaka and Makoto, seated beside you, visibly recoiled. “Hey, Y/n, just take a breath, okay?” He says, attempting to ease your tension. “Yeah..try not to let her get to you..besides..we need to focus, yeah?” Sayaka added gently.
You nodded, your silence speaking volumes. “Yeah, sorry about that,” you murmured, feeling a bit sheepish.
Where’d that come from?...sheesh. Maybe it’s just the stress building up..this will pass over.
Chihiro trembled slightly. “..wow…a weaponized toy that can just appear from nowhere... I can't tell if we're supposed to be afraid or not.”
“But was everything okay? He didn't try to like, eat you or anything?” Aoi asked, her concern evident. “E-Eat her...?” Hifumi echoed, his face contorting grossly. “Um, what do you mean by that? I mean, when you say "eat," what kind of eating are we talking about?”
Aoi shot him a glare. “C-Come on, man!”
“Gross creep…” you muttered under your breath, casting a disdainful look at Hifumi.
“What the hell, fatty!? You're acting like some kind of sleazy drunk dude.” Leon snapped. “Not like there's a good kind of drunk dude...” Yasuhiro chimed in, resting his chin on his hand, deep in thought.
Junko, clearly exasperated, tugged at her pigtails. “Hey! Stop screwing around, all of you! Are you still asleep or something? We're prisoners here! We could all just die any second!”
“She's right. We can't be makin' stupid jokes right now. We gotta do something, or--!”
“You're all spending an awful lot of time yelling and carrying on.”
Mondo started, but his words were abruptly cut off by a familiar voice. Everyone turned their heads to see her—Kyoko. “Do you really think you can afford to do so? Have none of you accepted the reality of the situation?” She says as she folds her arms.
Taka's finger jabs toward her with urgency. “Kyoko! Where the heck have you been!? We already started the meeting without you!” Silence envelops her as she places a folded piece of paper on the table. It looked like..a map of the school!
“Huh? What’s this…?” Makoto inquires, his brow furrowing. “It looks like a map.” You chime in, prompting a subtle nod from Kyoko.
“Wh-What the...? Where did you find this?” Taka's voice rises with intrigue. Kyoko merely runs a hand through her 749silvery locks. “It doesn't matter where I found it.”
“It DOES matter! You're really freaking us out right now!” Taka retorted, frustration evident in his tone.
“Never mind that. What's it mean?” Junko interjects, cutting through Taka’s mounting anxiety.
“Just look at it. The building we're in right now is laid out in precisely the same way as Hope's Peak Academy.” Kyoko mused, her fingers tapping thoughtfully against her chin. “So what you're saying is...this really is Hope's Peak Academy?” Makoto questioned, his brow furrowing in disbelief.
“Well, in terms of its construction, yes. But it looks like it's had a number of strange...renovations done to it.” she replied with an air of calmness.
“Renovations...?” you echoed, a hint of confusion lacing your voice. “ I don't know all the details yet. All I found was details about the 1st floor.” Kyoko stated matter-of-factly. “But then...this really is Hope's Peak. We didn't get kidnapped and taken to some other place...” Chihiro worriedly says.
“So stupid it's not even possible. *This* is where the country's future elite are supposed to come and learn?” Mondo scoffed. Aoi then chimed in, “But if this really is Hope's Peak, where are all the other students?”
Good question actually..where the hell were the other students here? It couldn’t just be us.
“Hey, come on, guys. Let's just stop talking about all this...you know, negative stuff...” Yasuhiro complained, his voice tinged with unease. “But aren't you worried? Things don't look good...” Makoto countered.
“Worried? What's there to be worried about? I mean, this was all planned out, right? The people in charge of Hope's Peak put this all together, right? Yasuhiro replied, trying to maintain a hopeful outlook. “Man, if I got stressed every time something like this happened, I'd have ectoplasm shooting out my mouth! Good things come to those who wait, right? So we just gotta chill and everything'll work itself out!”
Celeste let out a soft, melodic laugh, covering her mouth with her perfectly manicured hand. “Hahaha!” Toko, however, narrowed her eyes suspiciously. “Wh-Why are you laughing? What's so funny!?”
Celeste clasped her hands together, a playful smile gracing her lips. “I am just happy, that is all. It seems splitting up to investigate was a good idea, after all.” Toko shot back, her voice laced with frustration. “Haven't you b-been listening!? Looking around was a t-total waste of t-time! We d-didn't find a way out, didn't f-find who's behind this. We still have no idea what's g-going on!”
“Huh? Is it not crystal clear to you what is going on?” Celeste tilted her head, her bright red eyes glimmering with a calm intensity. “It is perfectly obvious that we have been imprisoned in some secret location, with no way out.”
Her words hung in the air, heavy and undeniable.
Silence enveloped the group; no one dared to argue. The truth was too painful to confront, yet it loomed over them like a dark cloud. There was no way out.
Unless….
“You didn't h-have to go and s-say that. I w-was trying not to th-think about it... N-No way out... We're t-trapped in here. What are w-we supposed to d-do...?” Toko’s voice trembled as she tugged anxiously at her long braids.
Byakuya leaned back, a smirk playing on his lips as he crossed his arms. “It's very simple. If you want to leave, you just have to kill—"
“Don't even joke about that!” Junko interjected sharply. “ Everyone just calm down, please! We need to stop and think about what to do from here.” Sayaka’s voice was soothing, attempting to ease the tension.
“There's gotta be *something* we can do...” Leon complained, his frustration palpable.
“All we can do is adapt. Adapt to living out lives here from now on.” Celeste replied, her demeanor unnervingly serene.
“What..? Live here..? Are you saying we should just accept it?” you questioned, uncertainty creeping into your voice. Celeste’s calmness was unsettling. “How are you so calm..?!” You ask curiously.
She chuckled softly at your bewildermen. “ A lack of adaptability...is a lack of survivability. Survival is not based on who is the strongest or the smartest. It comes down to who can adapt.” Her red eyes locked onto yours, unwavering. “If I am not mistaken, all of our rooms are adjusted to fit our talents, yes?”
You give a slight nod in agreement with her words. “So we should have everything we need. Especially with the food…Monokuma doesn’t seem to have any interest in killing us himself. He provides us with what we need, the only thing we must worry about is each other…that is, if anyone is planning a murder.”
“Y-yeah..I guess..” you murmur, unease settling in your stomach. What she said was undeniably accurate, but the thought of someone in this very room potentially planning to take a life—Sayaka’s, Makoto’s, or even your own—was unsettling.
“Another thing..may I make a suggestion?”
“Huh? What do you mean?” Mondo inquires, his brow furrowing in curiosity.
“We all understand that we are trapped here. Which means we will be spending the night. However... You all remember the rule regarding nighttime, right?
The second and third rules flash through your mind like a warning sign.
2) “Nighttime” is from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Some areas are off-limits at night, so place exercise caution. 3) Sleeping anywhere other than the dormitory will be seen as sleeping in class and punished accordingly.
“So regarding this "nighttime," I think we need to add a rule of out own.” Celeste declares, her voice steady.
“What do you mean?” Makoto asks.
“Going out at nighttime should be prohibited altogether. The school regulations do not actually tell us not to go out at night. I would like to make it official.”
“B-But why...?” Toko's voice trembled as she spoke. “The way things are now, every time night comes we will all start to get worried and anxious. We will be afraid someone might try and come kill us.” Her tone was flat, yet the truth behind it was undeniable.
“What!?” Sayaka gasped, her eyes wide with disbelief.
“If we have to worry about that night after night for who knows how long, it will wear us down in no time.” The gothic lolita continued, her gaze distant.
Sakura folded her arms, contemplating the situation. “So you're suggesting we limit our activity at night as a kind of preventative measure.” Celeste nodded in agreement. “However, unlike the other rules, nobody can be forced to comply. We all have to agree to follow it.”
“I see what you mean. But...I think I can agree to that. It's just like the little goth lolita said. Without something like that, we're just gonna self-destruct.” Junko added, her voice shaky.
Suddenly, Taka sprang to his feet, his voice booming. “On behalf of all the men here, I agree to comply!” Leon shot him a bewildered look, concern etched on his face. “Hey, you can't just decide to speak for us!”
“So everyone is in agreement?” Celeste inquired, and when silence met her question, she took it as a confirmation. “Good. Then, if you will excuse me...”
“Huh? Wait, where are you going?” Chihiro asks curiously.
“It is almost nighttime. I want to take a shower before it arrives.” She clapped her hands together, a gesture of finality. “So...goodbye.” With an air of grace, Celeste exited the dining hall, her demeanor so composed it was almost unsettling.
“S-So I guess it's pretty obvious where we go from here. We'll be spending the night, it looks like.” Hifumi said, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Adaptability...” Sakura echoed thoughtfully.
“ So, Mr. Chairman...what next? One person already left.” she quipped, her tone dripping with sarcasm. Taka, flustered, fumbled for words. “U-Umm... Well then, what say we call an end to today's meeting!?” He clenched his fist tightly, determination flickering in his eyes. “Like she said, it's almost nighttime anyway. We can reconvene first thing tomorrow morning!”
“Do we really have to stay the night here...?” Chihiro’s voice trembled with concern.
“We don't have a choice. We can't go for long without getting some sleep.” Junko shrugged, her expression nonchalant. “So we have to just give up...” Mondo let out a resigned sigh.
“That's all f-fine and good for t-today, but what to we d-do tomorrow?” Toko interjected, her brow furrowed in worry.
“ Our only option is to split up and look around again, and let everyone know if we find anything.” Sakura spoke up, her voice steady. Aoi nodded enthusiastically. “Yeah, okay. Let's do that...!”
“Then we're done for today? Good, I'm exhausted... “ Junko sighed, rising from her seat as well, but not before waving you goodbye at least.
Soon, only you, Sayaka, and Makoto remained, the atmosphere heavy with unspoken thoughts.
“Makoto, Y/n…are you both ready to call it a day?” Sayaka asked, her hand resting against her cheek, a hint of sadness in her eyes. Makoto glanced between you and Sayaka, then nodded. “Yeah, let’s go.”
You remained silent, simply nodding in agreement. The three of you made your way toward your dorms, pausing to exchange a few words before parting ways for the night.
“Um... so... see you both in the morning, okay?” Sayaka attempted a smile, but the worry in her eyes was unmistakable. “Goodnight…”
“Goodnight, Sayaka,” you and Makoto replied in unison, watching as she slipped into her dorm, the door closing softly behind her. “So..I guess I should be going to bed too then..that is, if I can.” you added with a light-hearted chuckle, trying to ease the tension, but Makoto seemed oblivious to your attempt. “You’ll fall asleep eventually; it’s pretty quiet around here,” he reassured you.
You let out an awkward laugh, turning toward your own dorm, ready to step inside when Makoto suddenly called your name. “Y/n, hold on a second.” You paused and looked back. “What’s up?”
“Are you okay?” he asked, his brow furrowed with concern. You tilted your head, puzzled. “Yeah? Why wouldn’t I be?”
“I don’t know…earlier when we got here, you were more talkative I guess but…now it seems like your personality did a whole 180. Did something happen when I was uh…asleep?” His worry was evident.
“Wha?—”
Memory of your nightmare flashes in your mind…it was terrorizing. Especially considering the situation you’re in right now, but if you told him he’d probably look at you oddly. Sayaka Maizono..? murdering you in a bathroom? Her of all people? Sounds crazy doesn’t it?
Maybe it’s best to keep this information to yourself.
“Well..no. But who is? We’re stuck here for who knows and the only way to leave is through murder.” you replied, a bit harsher than intended. Truthfully, you were exhausted—not physically, since you had napped, but mentally. An actual good-night rest will do you some good.
“That’s..that makes sense, yeah. Sorry.” Makoto said softly. “Don’t worry about me, okay? I’m fine you big baby.” You playfully nudged his shoulder, causing him to jump in surprise. “Huh?!—”
“Haha..my bad.” you said, rubbing the back of your neck sheepishly. “Alright well..I’ll see you and Sayaka in the morning then?” Makoto offered a small smile, which you returned. “Yeah, definitely. Goodnight, Makoto.”
“Goodnight, Y/n.”
With that, you both slipped into your respective dorms, ready to prepare for a much-needed rest.
What was going to become of you after today?
MDNI: I will not roleplay with you if you’re a minor OR an ageless profile.
Hello! I’m a 20 y/o genderfluid person. I’m looking for a fandom romance plot. I’m looking for someone 18+ to play one or more characters for my oc. If you played two or more it would either be a love triangle or poly relationship, we can talk about which would be preferred. If discussed, I’m not opposed to doubling up and am willing to play multiple canon characters for your oc as well. I’d play a girl or non-binary OC. Please be open to smut with build. I will not do bxb smut. This will have mainly romance and drama in it. No one liners. I’d like at least 1 paragraph and for it to be in 3rd person. I don’t have any specific plot in mind, but I’m down to discuss one. I’ll definitely take suggestions for how you want the plot to go and we can brainstorm more ideas together. I roleplay mainly on discord, but I am new to roleplaying on there, so if you’d prefer somewhere else, that can be discussed. Comment or like this post if you’re interested and I’ll reach out!
FF - Project: Revival - File: B
Inside this document, Future Foundation employees will find basic documentation regarding each subject from Future Foundation's revival project in regards to the 'killing game' hosted by Junko Enoshima and Chihiro Fujisaki containing their class. (Hopes Peak Academy's Class 78).
Please refer to File C to update and record all tests. Only document test results in File B if they result in severe changes or information we may need to know of generally.
Subject 001 - Sayaka Maizono
Subject 001 has shown good progress as she recovers. Appears slightly disoriented and refuses to go places alone. Subject 001 does not appear to hold a grudge against Subject 003, but does appear to show apprehension towards communicating with him.
Notably, Subject 001 proceeds to drool blood when distressed, the blood worsening the more she is distressed. She did not initially appear harmed when this occurred, but testing showed this was a farce, as she grew very lightheaded when more blood was lost.
We have noticed Subject 001 has done best in social tests, as, even when covering her face and told to  keep a low profile, she has shown to hold conversations and put those she speaks to at ease. This may be helped by Subject 001 being one of three who shows little obvious signs of scarring, her only scars being on her abdomen, and persistent drool on her chin. (Wiping at this drool does not get rid of it, it appears to be a stain. - Rs. Dolo)
Subject 001 has been seen trying to communicate with Subject 006, and continues to try to do so despite their failure to respond to her.
Subject 001 has not had to be punished with the electro-shock band often.
Subject 002 - Mukuro Ikusaba
Subject 002 is very closed off, but has recovered physically. She remains closest to Subject 000, but during visitation has been drawn to Makoto Naegi. Subject 002 is very resilient during testing, but appears more vigilant than what her old peers claimed.
Subject 002 does not appear to hold a bond closer to any other subject, but has been seen staring at Subject 006. Subject 000 has been recorded stating that Subject 002 is ‘drooling’ staring at Subject 006… we have not seen this occur, though. Subject 002 is docile with FF members, and does not attempt to aggravate others like her sister. She’s shown to have an interest in the common room’s exercise equipment, she seems to most enjoy the jumping rope.
Subject 002 has had to be punished with the electro-shock band several times due to her helping of Subject 000’s desire to cause trouble for other subjects.
Subject 003 - Leon Kuwata
Subject 003 has been less than progressive with his recovery. We suspect this is due to his scarring, as it was much more significant than most. He has stitch-like patterns emblazoned onto his body from his ‘execution’, and we had to perform a rhinoplasty to restore his nose, as it was completely shattered, giving us little to work with.
Subject 003 has shown to hold a positive relationship with Subject 005, but holds no (apparent) connection to Subject 006, despite being around them when with Subject 005. Subject 003 has also been noted to stare at Subject 001, although there does not appear to be any malice in this habit. We plan to initiate an interaction between them to study it.
Subject 003 is aggressive when testing is prompted, but has yet to be so aggressive he needs to be sedated.
Subject 003 has had to be punished with the electro-shock band often due to his abrasive behavior.
Subject 004 - Chihiro Fujisaki
Subject 004 was a Mastermind. Because of this, she is heavily monitored. However, unlike Subject 000 (whom Subject 004 is in a romantic relationship with), she does appear to have remorse for her actions. This has only been noted in conversations she’s held with Subject 000, which have been recorded and transcribed. Subject 004 has made several comments in regards to the ‘looks’ she gets from the other subjects. Despite this, she does not seem to hold any desire to stray away from Subject 000, and in fact shows heavy disdain at the idea of ending their relationship.
Subject 004 has a large scar from where she was struck, but often covers it with her hair. Unlike Subject 006, she does not appear to have any other facial scarring. (Subject 004 has shown severe anger towards Byakuya Togami. I advise any researchers not to allow her to speak to him and vice versa. - Rs. Dolo.)
Subject 004 has had to be punished with the electro-shock band a few times, this is mostly due to her attempting to perform acts of kindness before we deem it proper. She is not yet ready for redemption, it will only ruin the experiment.
Subject 005 - Mondo Oowada
Subject 005 has done well in his recovery, however we have noted he refuses to leave Subject 006’s side. He speaks with Subject 006 more than anyone, and has expressed immense remorse for Subject 006’s death being ‘his fault’. It is rare the two do not have some form of physical contact
Subject 005 has scarring all over his body, albeit it is not in any notable consistency. These scars take the form of fencing, a diamond-like pattern seen throughout them. He also has a large x-shaped scar on his face, something he appears to be discouraged by.
Subject 005 is extremely aggressive to testing, he MUST be sedated. (DO NOT TRY TO SEPARATE SUBJECT 005 FROM SUBJECT 006 WITHOUT SEDATING SUBJECT 005. HE WILL ATTACK ANY FF MEMBERS. - Rs. Dolo) Due to his temper, he is easily set off. While Subject 006 usually can get Subject 005 to settle, enough prodding will lead to extremely violent behavior.
Subject 005 has had to be punished with the electro-shock band several times due to his violent outbursts. We have noted he requires a higher wattage.
Subject 006 - Kiyotaka Ishimaru
Subject 006 is the most compliant out of all subjects. This would be great if not for his refusal to speak to most people. He only speaks with Subject 005, Subject 008, and Yasuhiro Hagakure.  (Hagakure has noted that Subject 006 often asks about his father. Due to the non disclosure clause, little updates have been given. Hagakure has asked that we allow subjects to see their families soon. He may have a point. - Rs. Dolo)
Subject 006 has been found suffering multiple migraines in short periods. We initially suspected this to only be due to their OSDD, but conversations recorded with Subject 008 suggest otherwise. We are unsure if his ‘blacked-out’ eye causes him pain, but we have noticed it bleeds when he cries. We are also unsure if he is blind in this eye, or if his vision is limited. (Recent tests have proven that Subject 006 can see in the dark. A recorded conversation with Subject 005 confirmed his sight is in fact extremely clear in the dark, and his ‘blacked-out’ eye ‘glows in the dark’. - Rs. Dolo)
Subject 006, while never hostile himself, holds a member within their system (referred to only as Akira by Subject 009 and Subject 006) who is VERY hostile during tests. They have had to be sedated twice. (THEY BITE!!! HARD! Will draw blood. I suggest having Subject 009 coax them into allowing tests to be run. - Rs. Dolo)
Subject 006 has had to be punished with the electro-shock band several times. This is due to his failure to eat on time, hydrate, and due to attempted self harm.
Subject 007 - Hifumi Yamada
Subject 007 has coped the most well out of every subject. It appears he uses his art to cope with his recovery. Subject 007 has suffered migraines, although his scarring does not seem as severe as that of others. Strangely, Subject 007 holds no malice towards Subject 008. We are unsure why this is. Evidence from the game (see: File A) suggests Subject 008 lied to Subject 007 and killed him, something he was aware of in death.
Subject 007 has had to be punished with the electro-shock band a few times due to breaking curfews. However, when we administered a game system in the common room, this issue reduced in occurrence.
Subject 008 - Celestia Ludenberg
Subject 008 shows indifference when approached about her recovery. She stays close to Subject 006, this is likely due to their blood relation and their deal in the game (see: File A), and we have noted she has been trustworthy in preventing Subject 006’s failure to eat.
Subject 008 has several burns on her arms, and has made comments about wishing to cover them with long gloves. She also has a large scar on her torso. Subject 008 has requested several pain relieving creams for her burns, but we have opted to only adhere to these requests when convenient. (Avoid giving her these during physical tests, only for psychological tests so she is not distracted. - Rs. Dolo)
She continues to complain about the quality of her bedding. We do not plan to upgrade it.
Subject 008 has had to be punished with the electro-shock band several times due to her refusal to comply with wardrobe requirements. We suspect this will change when she is sent home and is able to dress as she pleases.
Subject 009 - Sakura Ogami
Subject 009’s recovery has gone well, but similar to Subjects 006 and 007, she suffers headaches, and was required to be given liver and kidney transplants due to the organs being inefficient when the revival process was complete. This has led to Subject 009 having to take several medications every morning. Do not allow a day to go by without these being taken, lest the experiment be ruined.
Subject 009 appears to get along most well with Aoi Asahina, as well as Akira (see: Subject 006). Despite Hagakure’s fears, she has made it known she holds no ill will towards him. Due to the nature of Subject 009’s death, she has minor scarring from the glass she was struck with before it, as well as altered hair that is now black and white. (It’s like Frankenstein’s bride or something. Subject 006 has a similar white streak throughout their hair. - Rs. Dolo) Dyeing the hair does not hold for long, regardless of how strong of a dye is used. She appears indifferent to this.
Similar to Subject 001, Subject 009 has been found trying her best to help other subjects cope. We’ve noted she’s the most mature out of the group, and although she may not perform as well as Subject 001 in social situations, she performs quite well regardless.
Subject 009 has not had to be punished with the electro-shock band very often.
Subject 000 - Junko Enoshima
Subject 000 was the mastermind of the game, working with Subject 004, with minor help from Subject 002. She has several scars, but does not appear to care about the changes to her appearance. Rather, Subject 000 seems more focused on watching the other subjects. She most often speaks with Subject 004 and Subject 002, the others she tries to speak to refuse to respond to her. Unlike Subject 004, Subject 000 has shown zero remorse for her past actions, instead appearing to take great pleasure in the evident coldness shown from her peers.
We warn researchers to not allow Subject 000 to see any files, regardless of how often she may ask.
Subject 000 has had to be punished with the electro-shock band several times due to her desire to cause trouble for her peers, researchers, and incessant talking during testing.
(sideblog is valleygirlmukuroikusaba) hi!! 2 questions:
1. what ur opinions r on UTDP/USC timeline mukuro??
so like basically that canon material has been the main basis on mukuro content ive internalized thus far (im a newgen fan for context so technically im much more unfamiliar with the general consensus of fanon/non-disguise mukuro who has been more well recognized)
2. can you explain how u view mukuro with u see fit if the valley girl disguise feels like very surface level/not rlly getting to know mukuro as herself
getting feedback from ur rb a while back engaging with my au rlly got me thinking if ppl interpret my au rambles a lot differently than how i intended bc of these shift in perspectives with how other ppl in the fandom view mukuro n im interested in ur opinion on mukuro and if possible how differently my stuff reads when with ur own internalized notion with a bit more detail bc id like to learn more abt different mukuro ideas that isnt uh “valley girl bought from wish” LMAO
that’s a lot but hopefully it is a interesting discussion to rotate abt bc honestly im learning new things abt this fandom every day aha
oh.. oh i like you. i like your thinking.
i fear i haven't even watched any playthroughs nor played UTDP. it doesnt interests me as much as other installments of the franchise, but i might watch some playthroughs/look at screenshots of it later. (and dw, i too am somewhat of the new gen to danganronpa, around the v3 and udg era sadly..
----
2. how i see mukuro is kind of an amalgamation of my knowledge of domestic abuse, ptsd via military, the very few breadcrumbs we get of mukuro in disguise (with a little from the anime unfortunately), and excerpts from fanfics I've read. Of course, I'm not all knowing about the intricacies of these nuanced topics, but by golly do I love me my brain studies.
something i tend to take in account with thinking of mukuro is how she was basically treated like a dog her whole life; obedient and subservient. she's never taken the time to find herself with junko breathing down her neck nor her instructors and fellow soldiers. she was brought up in chaos and war, so of course she'd struggle to find her true self.
I will say, i do think mukuro finds solace in war. she has control, she is able to let out frustration she never realized was building. she doesn't have to care about her sister on the battlefield, only about herself and her metaphorical brothers and sisters. that's why she's such a good solider.
with mukuro disguising herself as junko, I don't think she'd find much about herself through that experience since she's basically pretending to be someone. mukuro is cosplaying as an another identity all together, a memory of what her sister was (or, a memory of what she THINKS of her sister).
personally, i am of the opinion that mukuro cracked when sayaka was killed (not a surprise, i am quite the ikuzono truther). she wasn't in control like junko promised. she realizes that she is a pawn, and her confrontation to Junko/Monokuma was genuine. well- as genuine as can be when she's mimicking a fake person. I think DR-IF also talked about that. If you havent read it, you really should! it gave me a lot of mukuro centric headcanons that let me develop her further.
----
3. for your blog, i see it as an alternative route where mukuro was able to find herself. i also fw your design of valleygirl mukuro SO HARD. it makes me cry a little. i like how you think of sayaka as more competent and paranoid than canon. she would fr psychoanalyze everyone, very much to her own detriment. also her and junko being rivals? uh, yes please. more of this.
your au actually grew my wings btw. might just draw mukuro in valley girl/gyaru clothing, that'd be very fun.
i am probably going to add leon into the sayaka, mukuro, makoto, and aoi au group bc of you. your ideas are fire. ty valley girl mukuro truther.
I was looking at the leosaya tag, which is something I never do (I'll explain why later), to try to find a post I was looking for, only to always see people interpreting their relationship as toxic? Even in a non-despair AU? Seriously? Do you guys genuinely believe 1-1 determines the entirety of their relationship? In canon, Leon is incredibly supportive and loving of Sayaka, and Sayaka seems to appreciate him back based on their interactions (and many other things). And like... toxic? I am sorry, but why??? Sayaka is the ONLY person who Leon actually drops his defenses around and tries to be more honest with (because, get this, he ACTUALLY likes her a lot), and Sayaka feels calmer and less stressed out with Leon's more laid-back approach to life. Her weaknesses are his strengths, and vice versa. Being complementary opposites DOESN'T mean they are going to fight, what the hell? I can't even imagine Leon being even slightly mad at Sayaka. I can't begin to talk about just how much he likes her. And she seems to like him too!! They were seatmates even!!
But Leosaya is toxic because JUNKO totally wanted two people who hate each other's guts to kill each other. That would surely bring a lot of despair 😐. I can imagine her yawning right now, lmao. Everyone in THH who has killed or hurt each other was very CLOSE during their time in HPA, such as Leon and Sayaka - Mondo, Taka and Chihiro - Hifumi and Celeste - Kyoko and Makoto, and so on. Please, for the love of god, STOP making Leosaya look toxic when IT ISN'T. This is why I don't usually check the tag. Kuwamai is superior.
Hello there! The names Xay, I go by any pronouns and I'm 20 years old. I've been roleplaying for 8 years and consider myself to be advanced literate. I tend to flesh out my roleplay responses which end up making descriptions detailed haha - I love long responses, but will be alright with literate roleplayers! I match what I'm given, as long as it's not a few sentences.
I roleplay in 3rd person and expect you to do the same. I don't use * either. If you need an roleplay sample, then let me know! I don't rp with oc's since I find the rp itself to get boring! So only canon parings please :) I also only do modern settings, please keep this in mind for Overwatch and Naruto specifically. Although some elements will still apply.
Here are a list of fandoms I’m currently willing to write for (not in order)!
At the beggining of the year (i would say like two months after they arrived), Sayaka mentioned to Taka that the school uniform's jackets are way too small for her chest. Him being like "i get it it's too small for me too, my father accidently bought a smaller size than i'm supposed to wear".
Leon, back then having a crush on Sayaka, telling Hifumi that he is kinda worried Sayaka's uniform buttons are gonna go bye bye. Hifumi being like Nah don't worry dude that only happens in weird anime and stuff like that
And he was, like half right because not even a minutes later while Taka is stretching a bit because he sat down for too long and he's back hurt- JUST POP HE'S FUCKING UNIFORM BUTTON.
Sure it was the first one but he CRIED about that, thinking that he ruined the uniform he's dad brough him and that he didn't have the money for the thread. All the girls (+Chihiro) try to reasure him while the guys are in the back
Leon : ... Yamada-kun, what happened when what i said earlier happen but to a guy ?
Hifumi : I-I'm not sure Mister Kuwata...
Makoto : S-Should we go help him or something ??
Mondo : *brain has stopped working please try again later, blushing too*
Hiro : Damn, Kiyotaks will need to resew that one in place later...
Byakuya : *blushing and alredy planning on paying for Taka's uniform.*
PFFFFF, bro's tits were too big the button went bye-bye. But, damn, hate it when shirts are tight. Thank God the shirts with buttons that I own are usually male sizes so there's a little bit of breathing room and the buttons won't give out. But I have had tight ass button up shirts (which sucked because I really liked that Deadpool button up.) Thank God it's an anime thing...*nervously looks it up*
The poor button. Poor Taka, lol. Don't worry, Taka, you can easily sew it back on with some good ol' thread that one of us might own! It's cheap, anyways.
Daiya & class 78 dynamics cuz the concept of him teaching them is enchanting♡
[Please like/reblog, it's appreciated♡♡♡]
(Excluding least faves, you'll figure them out)
Leon: bullying and call outs it is. Will shout or even hit him if deserved. Would still vibe w/ him sometimes.
Sayaka: they're on good terms with each other! He can still see through her tho, an actor knows an actor, he has experience, yknow?
Sakura: the third Oowada no one saw coming. Not even her. Not even him. Not even Mondo. No one. He doesn't really know why, but if you say anything about her he'll fling you to the sun.
Hina: she's like a package deal. No complains tho. They're the "Sakura elite defense squad" (only two people). She'll spill the tea for him, and he does the show (he's gonna kill someone).
Kiyotaka: silly little guy. Funny kid. Goofimaru. Makes him go :) . Class rep and son of his favorite funny cop, touch him and he'll strangle you.
Chihiro: local coach instead of Mondo, brought Yukimaru to help him out. They get along well :)
Celestia: unspoken rivals. Will piss her off. But if she tries to raise her voice at him, he'll shut her up. Won't hit her, but will send her off with a harsh warning.
Yasuhiro: local bestie. Dysfunctional adults of the class, would still bully, call out, mess with and dangle him by ear tho.
Makoto: haha look it's just some guy :) vibes with him. They're two big brothers with charisma, influence and kind hearts, y'know?
Mondo: his brother y'all, need i say more?? (I ran out of ideas </3 )
(The rest vary from dislike to hate. don't ask.)
Comments: Day 1, Gift! Valentine's Day fic in October, why not?
💖 Please like, reblog, leave kudos and/or comment on AO3 💖
***
Before Byakuya Togami learned to read, he would tug on his butler’s trouser leg until Aloysius brought him to his mansion’s library. Behind the carved wooden door, books upon books filled Byakuya’s vision. Some sat low enough for his toddler hands to grab. Others soared high on shelves only ladders could reach. Once Aloysius had found a book that Byakuya didn’t throw to the floor, they would sit together on a sofa bench and Byakuya would point at the words he wanted Aloysius to read aloud.
Hope’s Peak’s library wasn’t as big as the one in his childhood home, but it sufficed. The recently opened library in the east quarter of campus spanned two floors, stitched together by winding staircases. As Byakuya emerged into the library, he scanned his surroundings and found it almost vacant of people.
Perfect. Byakuya liked to spend evenings here, and he liked to do so undisturbed. Despite the darkening sky visible through the window wall, the interior shone metallic silver. Optimal reading conditions. He grabbed a book from the crime section and sat down at one of the many tables dotted around. For the next several hours, he intended to read in peace and quiet.
“This is for you.”
Not even ten minutes could have passed. Immediately recognising the voice, Byakuya grimaced and looked up. Touko Fukawa stood by his table. His eyes lowered from her pink face to the dark green box in her grubby hands.
“What is that?” he asked, though he already knew because today was the fourteenth of February. Valentine’s Day.
It was also why the library was especially empty. Everyone else was either on a romantic date or partying with their friends. Sayaka Maizono organised a gathering for the girls in their class, which he knew because Touko loudly declined the invitation in their classroom a few days ago. And he also knew most of the guys planned to eavesdrop on said party, spearheaded by Leon, Yasuhiro and Hifumi. For ‘Man’s Greatest Ambition’, for free chocolate and to fit in in that order. Fools.
Byakuya didn’t need to concern himself with that sort of uncouth thing. His sperm would one day be sent off and used to artificially inseminate women from around the globe, all appraised and deemed to be of exemplary quality. Then he would be coupled with the mother of whoever was chosen to be his heir. Even then, that would only be for appearances. His parents hadn’t been in the same continent since he was selected to be his father’s heir.
Which meant Touko, standing there with her hunched shoulders and messy braids, was doomed the moment the plan first sprouted in her barren brain.
“They’re chocolates,” she said.
Irritation pinched between his brows. “What possessed you to blight my eyesight with that monstrosity?”
“I...” Touko faltered.
He pointed at the box. “Throw it in the garbage immediately.”
“B-But...!”
“Can you not follow a simple order? Let me make it even simpler: leave.”
Touko shifted her weight between feet, gripping the box tightly like she thought it might fly away. Byakuya pushed up his glasses and returned his gaze to the book. A few moments later, he heard her footsteps retreat, growing quieter and quieter until he could hear her no more.
After her departure, the only sounds were the buzz of the library lighting and flutter of paper as he turned the pages. As he trudged through stilted prose. Unclear metaphors. Paragraphs describing women’s anatomy by someone who knew even less about them than Hifumi Yamada.
By the end of the first quarter, he no longer cared if the murderer was the victim’s wife or a fellow board member. It was probably the butler, anyway. Byakuya shut the book, intending to seek out another, only to freeze when he saw a certain object on the table.
The box of chocolates that Touko should have taken with her.
His teeth gritted together. What a hopeless girl. Now he would have to go out of his way to dispose of them. Before enrolling at Hope’s Peak, whenever a classmate gave him chocolates, he would pass them along to his staff who would whisk them away to be tossed into the trash. When he became the sole heir, his father took him on a tour of the Togami Waste Disposal Centre. One section was dedicated to the destruction of frivolous gifts.
He remembered his father placing a hand onto his young teenage shoulder as conveyor belts chugged and machinery clunked.
“Why do you think we do this?” his father had said as a machine hacked apart a neatly wrapped box. It chewed and snarled before regurgitating cardboard vomit into a waste bin, chocolate chunks like teeth mixed in the refuse.
“In case they’re laced with poison?” had been Byakuya’s response.
“That’s one reason. But even if we were sure they are regular chocolate, they still need getting rid of. Love is like chocolate, Byakuya. It may taste pleasurable, but it’s bad for you. It will rot away your insides. Togamis do not indulge in such weaknesses.”
Young Byakuya had nodded. “Yes, Togami-sama.”
Older Byakuya rose to his feet. Just the sight of the box made his skin crawl. Navy ribbon strangled the forest green foil like a hand around a throat. They weren’t even colours associated with Valentine’s day. The sooner it was obliterated, the better. But he would dispose of it later. After he finished reading everything he wanted to read. He wouldn’t allow Touko’s mistake to alter his plans. While he searched for a better book than the dross he had acquired before, he hoped the box of chocolates would self-combust by the time he returned to the table.
It didn’t, continuing to exist. Byakuya started reading again. Like before, the only sounds to be heard were paper rustling and the overhead lights humming.
Until his stomach rumbled.
No one was around to hear it, yet he still cringed. It was a ghastly, unsophisticated noise. Pursing his lips, he read on, even as his stomach clenched and hardened. He had eaten a light dinner that day. Tonkatsu pork. But that wasn’t his fault because he had wanted to eat quickly so he could return to the library sooner.
Another gurgle escaped his gut. His shoulders squared and he held the book closer to his face. When his stomach rumbled again, he grimaced and lowered the book. And saw the box of chocolates on the table.
No. Absolutely not.
Byakuya almost shoved the open pages into his face, but he wasn’t a baby lacking object permanence. As if he had X-ray vision, he could see the box of chocolates sitting menacingly on the table. Though, he hadn’t actually seen the chocolates themselves. Just the outer wrapping. But there had to be chocolates within it.
His stomach growled. The noise wrung his body’s every nerve. Tightening his grip on the book, he tried to read more, except after a few sentences, he realised he couldn’t recall what he had just read. Shapes resembling words floated in his head before dissolving. He went back and tried reading one line. One single line.
By the time he reached the end of the compound sentence, the beginning had already washed away. A howl heaved his stomach and this time choked out a gasp from his lips. Byakuya slammed down the book and grabbed the box. He wasn’t going to eat them. Death appealed more than allowing a single chocolate to touch his tongue. All he wanted to do was see what they looked like. As soon as he saw how ugly and unappetising they were, he would be turned off immediately.
Byakuya tugged on the ribbon, but the bow’s tight knot wouldn’t loosen. How counterproductive. Surely it made more sense for it to unravel easily so it could be opened quicker. After a few minutes of picking and pinching and pulling, he managed to break into the box. Inside was a spread of milk and dark chocolates, all packed into individual paper cases. Some of the chocolates were round, others square. A few were drizzled in chocolate, and a couple had nuts on them.
How thoughtless of Touko. What if he was allergic to nuts?
He wasn’t, but still.
To his displeasure, looking at the chocolates didn’t make him lose his appetite. His stomach continued to pang. Ache. With a glower, he adjusted his glasses. The chocolates continued existing. He pulled out his pocket watch and checked the time. The cafeteria didn’t shut for another hour, so he had time to grab something edible to eat.
But then he would have to leave the library. And then return. And then resettle. He picked up a round chocolate piece crowned with dark flakes. It would be fine if he only ate one.
Besides, someone might come in and take his book during his absence.
Byakuya popped the chocolate into his mouth. Chewed. Swallowed.
Someone could sneak in and spike his coffee when he was out of the room. And he didn’t want to brew a whole new cup.
Chewed. Swallowed.
Coffee actually paired well with the chocolates. He selected another. Dark, with green shavings. Matcha.
Someone might hear his stomach rumble on the way to the cafeteria.
Chewed. Swallowed. Another.
He might get a cramp in his leg while walking.
With one hand, he held his book, while his other pecked away at the box of chocolates. No two chocolates were the same. Each presented a unique texture, a different taste. Byakuya reached for another chocolate only for his fingers to rustle empty paper cases.
He looked. He had eaten them all.
He had eaten all of the chocolates given to him by Touko Fukawa.
He stared in horror.
***
The next morning, even after he brushed his teeth for ten minutes straight, a sickly film continued to cling to the inside of his mouth. In front of his bathroom mirror, he tried rinsing the taste away with water, then mouthwash, then water again, but the chocolate seemed to have sunk in past his gums, wedged between his teeth and burrowed into the back of his throat.
Coffee didn’t drown the tang either.
Still, he had an entire day to dedicate to dealing with this quandary. A ‘teacher training’ day had been instated, meaning all students had no lessons scheduled until tomorrow. Despite its name, it was actually a ‘recover from the previous day’ day. Many teachers had gone out to a karaoke bar and woke up hungover. One rumour going around claimed Koichi Kizakura spent the night in the same bed as the headmaster.
In any case, the lack of lessons meant Byakuya wouldn’t be forced into close proximity with Touko. He needed to sort out this whole chocolate dilemma before she showed up and made things too bothersome. To achieve this, as pained as he was to admit it, he needed the aid of a certain someone.
Fortunately, this certain someone could often be found in the last places Touko would think to search for Byakuya in. The swimming pool and art room turned out to be a bust, but Byakuya found his soon-to-be assistant in the recreation room with a few of their classmates.
“Naegi, come with me,” said Byakuya, striding over to the pool table.
Makoto, who had just positioned himself to hit the cue ball, hesitated. “I’m kind of in the middle of something.”
“So am I,” said Byakuya.
Kudos to Makoto, however, because Byakuya hadn’t expected him to be playing pool. He had thought Makoto would be hammering away at a video game or smiling goofily over snakes and ladders. Interesting. Later, Byakuya would have to question him on what different game types he knew. See how competent he was at them.
“Well?” said Byakuya when Makoto didn’t move. “I don’t have all day.”
“Um, actually,” Makoto winced, “I think I would rather...”
“If Naegi-kun’s forfeiting, it looks like I win this game,” interrupted Sayaka, a smile pushing out her cheeks. She tilted her head to one side and fluttered her hands together in a dainty round of applause. “Yay, me! Don’t worry, Naegi-kun. We’ll have a rematch when you get back. But don’t think I’ll go easy on you to make you feel better about losing. I’m going to go all out.”
Sayaka puffed out her cheeks. While it made Makoto grin and slightly redden, it made Byakuya’s insides wither. As a Super High School Level Idol, he supposed she had to embody some kind of charm, even if it only worked on people like Makoto. And Leon, who was standing by the pool table too.
“Wow, whatever it is, it sounds important,” said Leon. “You better be a good friend and go with him. I’ll take care of Maizono-chan while you’re gone.”
Leon saluted at Makoto and winked. He had a black eye. Presumably, his plan to spy on the girls’ party hadn’t gone the way he hoped.
“Thanks, but there’s no need to trouble yourself, Kuwata-kun,” said Sayaka as Makoto passed her the cue stick.
“I’m serious. It’s no sweat off my back,” said Leon.
Sayaka’s grin flattened against her face, more polite than genuine. “I mean I don’t think anything bad will happen. We’re all friends here. But I have the cue stick to protect me anyway.”
She demonstrated by thrusting it toward Leon. The tip stopped just before his injured eye, making him jump back with a yelp. A giggle rose out of her, to which Leon joined in with a couple of shaky laughs.
“Are you finished with your triple act now?” asked Byakuya, unamused.
“Yes, sorry,” said Makoto, cringing. “Let’s go.”
As they stepped out into the corridor, a few students breezed past, talking loudly to each other with erratic hand movements. Byakuya watched their backs as they walked away, his arms folded over his chest.
“What is it that you want with me?” asked Makoto.
“Not here,” said Byakuya. None of the students nearby seemed to be paying the pair any attention, but he couldn’t lower his guard. “Wait until we’re alone.”
Neither spoke while Byakuya led Makoto away. With no lessons taking place, finding an empty classroom proved straightforward. Once inside, Byakuya turned to Makoto.
“I need you to talk to Fukawa.”
Makoto frowned. “Why?”
“I need you to find out how much money she spent on the chocolates she gave me yesterday.”
That was simple enough to understand. Yet Makoto said, “You want me to do what, Togami-kun?”
He stared at Byakuya with a stupid look on his face, squinting with raised eyebrows.
“I don’t see what you’re struggling to understand. I wish to know how much money she spent on her chocolates so I can appropriately compensate her.” Byakuya started pacing back and forth. “If I were to buy her something two or three times more expensive, that would be seen as reciprocating her honmei choco. I could just give her nothing... no. Out of the question. Any less than what she gave me would reflect badly on me and the conglomerate.”
“I understand what you said,” Makoto told Byakuya. “Well, maybe not your reasoning, but what you want me to do. But why do I have to ask Fukawa-san where she bought that chocolate from? You’ve never struggled to speak your mind with her before.”
Byakuya came to a stop and brought a hand to the top corner of his glasses. A frown pinched his features.
“You never cease to sink to new levels below my expectations, and they are already incredibly low as it is. If I spoke to her, asking about the chocolates, she would become suspicious of my questioning and figure out I ate them. She’s daft, but she’s not a complete idiot. If you ask her about them, she will not suspect me.”
The situation was not unlike a game of pool. He couldn’t pot the eight-ball too early, much like he couldn’t outright go to Touko and question her about the chocolates. When he next saw her, everything had to be perfectly in place. There was an order that had to be followed.
Makoto glanced away, as if searching for a way out of the conversation, but no one jumped out from under a desk and carried him out of the room. Nor did the door slam open and a teacher march inside. The trees beyond the classroom’s window wall didn’t shed their leaves to reveal assassins hiding in them, guns aimed so they would have to flee the room, ending the conversation. A meteor didn’t smash into the classroom either. Silence hung between them, until Makoto sighed and met Byakuya’s gaze.
“Alright, Togami-kun. I’ll ask her for you.”
“You will invite her to the library and while you question her, I will be listening in nearby,” said Byakuya. “The library has plenty of bookcases for me to hide behind. Once you have extracted the information, I will slip away and prepare the compensation.”
It was a great plan, yet Makoto shook his head slightly. “I really don’t understand how your mind works, Togami-kun, but okay.”
“You don’t need to understand. I know what I’m doing. And I will tell you exactly what to say to her. You have half an hour to memorise this script I wrote.”
Byakuya reached under his jacket and pulled out a stack of paper.
Makoto had the audacity to continue frowning.
***
The irony of Byakuya observing Touko from a behind a bookcase did not go over his head. Many times, Byakuya’s and Touko’s positions had been reversed. However, he always knew she was there. Her smell of wet book never failed to find its way over to him. His ears would twinge at the sounds of her breathing. The back of his neck would prickle. A strange feeling would stir in him. Disgust. It could be nothing else. It would be preposterous to even suggest it was anything else. As if he would want her drooling, red-faced, snivelling person near him.
She was none-the-wiser to his presence on this occasion. Engrossed in a book. With more stacked up on either side of her. From his angle, he couldn’t see any of the titles, but they were all pretty thick.
“Hi, Fukawa-san,” said Makoto, walking up to her table.
On the script Byakuya had written for Makoto, he had put ‘hello’ instead of hi, but he supposed it was fine for Makoto to adapt the language slightly. After all, Byakuya and Makoto were worlds apart. Byakuya was still learning about how commoners functioned. How they walked. How they spoke. How they thought.
Touko looked up.
“What do you want?” she asked coldly.
“I, um, wanted to see how you were doing.” Makoto pulled out a chair and sat down opposite her. “Did you enjoy Valentine’s Day yesterday?”
She set her book down. “You think you’re real smart, don’t you? I can see right through your charade.”
“Y-You can?” said Makoto, his head jerking back. Byakuya narrowed his eyes but otherwise didn’t move.
“You think you know what my answer will be, and it’s one that amuses you. You want me to indulge your humiliation kink by asking me that question,” she sneered.
Perfect. Byakuya smirked. He had anticipated that sort of response.
Makoto waved his hands and spluttered convincingly, “N-No! That’s not it at all. I came here because I wanted to check out the comic section and happened to see you as I was passing by.”
The script had actually called for ‘wanted to read generic lowbrow manga that commoners like me enjoy’.
She didn’t answer right away. “Sure.”
Though Byakuya couldn’t see her face, she didn’t sound convinced. Makoto shifted in his seat and looked down, twiddling his thumbs. Perhaps Makoto hadn’t been the best choice. The guy was a terrible liar.
“... If you must know,” said Touko after an uncomfortable silence, “I got some writing done and gave Byakuya-sama chocolate.”
Touko spoke in a low voice and didn’t shriek or laugh when she said Byakuya’s name like she usually did. Nor did she pant or hug herself. Byakuya frowned. He had not planned for that reaction. She sounded dejected.
“It’s awesome that you gave Togami-kun some chocolate,” said Makoto. “Did he like it?”
This was her cue to start bragging about how of course he would love her chocolate. She wouldn’t buy him cheap chocolate. Only the finest was acceptable for ‘Byakuya-sama’. Yes, Touko would jump to her feet and spit would fly from her mouth as she passionately rambled about Byakuya and the exact cost of the confectionery.
“I haven’t seen him today, so I don’t know,” she said flatly.
“What chocolates did you get him? I bet you got them somewhere fancy.”
Touko’s shoulders hiked.
“I see what’s happening. Listen.” There was a hard edge to her voice now. “When we first met and you hung out with me a few times, I’ll admit. I thought I may have had feelings for you. But after a while, I realised that I was just happy that a guy had been kind to me and given me attention. It has happened before, with others. Someone would show a bit of interest in me, and I would start fantasising about dating them and getting married and having lots and lots of babies with them.”
Makoto stared silently, wide-eyed and mouth hanging open. Byakuya probably had a similar expression. Minus the open mouth.
“My only friend in elementary school. A boy from a neighbouring class in eighth grade. A literature teacher. A girl in my class at Riverbank. Any crushes I had were quite shallow. None compare to Byakuya-sama.”
As she straightened her back, Byakuya wondered what expression she had on. She was usually extremely expressive, but she had already defied his expectations with her responses to Makoto’s probing. She might have been hiding her emotions behind a blank mask. But it was impossible to hide one’s feelings in their eyes. Her grey pair could have been full of flame and smoke. They could have been biting cold. He couldn’t be certain anymore. Until now, he had thought he had her all sussed out.
Curious. Very curious.
“Byakuya-sama is different. Since we first met, he hasn’t shown me an act of kindness to latch on to.” Touko was trembling now. “He understands how dark and cruel the world can be. He doesn’t put on a mask or trust the masks of others. He didn’t try to deceive me with a good first impression. I’ve never felt the way I do toward him with anyone else, and that includes you. You may be a safe option, but you are not one that I truly want or who will make me feel fulfilled. S-So... I’m declining your offer to be your girlfriend.”
Okay, now Byakuya’s mouth might have fallen open. Makoto licked his lips.
“I think there’s been a misunderstanding. I don’t want to be your girlfriend, Fukawa-san.” He threw up his hands, facing his palms toward her. “No disrespect! You’re not that bad of a person once people get to know you. I just... wondered... ha ha...”
There was taking artistic liberty, and then there was this. Byakuya couldn’t see her face, but her expression made Makoto recoil. Her body shook harder, then she let out an ear-splitting howl that caused several people nearby to jump and spin around to watch. Behind the bookcase, Byakuya gritted his teeth and winced.
Touko’s chair toppled backward as she leaped to her feet. “S-So you did want me to say all that for your humiliation kink! Argh!”
“No! I...!”
She jabbed at the air. “Get out!”
When he didn’t move, she seized a book from the top of one of her stacks and aimed it at him. Makoto yelped and made a hasty retreat before she decided to throw it. After a couple of seconds, she returned the book to its spot. Several minutes crawled past before everyone else had returned to what they had been doing before, browsing bookshelves or murmuring in small groups.
Byakuya hadn’t obtained the information he desired, but staying would only serve to increase the chances of him getting caught. He began edging away, barely breathing.
“He’s gone now, Byakuya-sama,” said Touko calmly. Her voice stopped him in his tracks like a tightened leash.
He froze, then adjusted his glasses, keeping his back to her.
“Fukawa? I didn’t realise you were here,” he said as if she hadn’t screamed a couple of minutes ago.
“There’s no need to play coy, Byakuya-sama.” He could hear the smirk in her voice. She seemed back to her normal self, unfortunately. “I knew you were here the whole time.”
“You did?”
“I can smell you...”
Byakuya stiffened and turned to face her with a glare.
“Are you saying I stink?” he asked. Rich, coming from her.
“Only of pheromones.”
Sometimes she could say profound things. Other times, like now, she spoke like an idiot. However, to give her some credit, an idiot who always had a witty response prepared.
His scowl deepened. “You’re talking nonsense. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I will continue passing through and...”
He pivoted on his heel and took three steps before she said, “How were the chocolates?”
His foot stuck to the floor like glue.
“What chocolates?” he said casually.
“The ones I gave you yesterday.”
“Oh, those.” Byakuya licked his teeth. He had to choose his next words carefully. Thanks to Makoto, he had been left in a bad position in the endgame. He had to play defensively, and make sure he didn’t set her up for a clear final shot.
“I hope they were to your liking. I-It was my first time making chocolate, so I...”
“Wait. What?” His eyebrows rose. “You made them?”
Touko squeaked. Byakuya’s brow scrunched as he turned back toward her. A shudder ran down his spine.
“You made them? What on Earth for?” he snapped. “Did you think I would want to put my mouth anywhere near where your dirty fingers have been?”
Her face clouded over for a moment, probably as some ghastly mental image entered her brain, but she quickly recomposed herself. “I did buy some, originally. Really expensive chocolate. Except the morning before Valentine’s Day, it was all gone. That cursed alter of... um, I mean, that alternate cleaner standing in for the usual one m-must have snuck in and eaten it!”
That sounded very unprofessional. The skin around her eyes bunched up in distress.
“I tore through every shop in the city but it being the day before Valentine’s Day, I couldn’t find a single block of chocolate worthy of titillating your taste buds.”
Being a renowned author, she had to have made a very conscious choice on the words she used. She wrung her hands together.
“S-So... I went to the kitchens and made the chocolate I gave you. That pervert,” Teruteru Hanamura, “aided me. I don’t trust him at all, but Oogami and Asahina happened to be there too making chocolates so they ensured he didn’t attempt anything strange.”
Byakuya wondered how many people Touko had roped into this sick affair. But that explained why he couldn’t find them in his search through different retailers.
“Even though you weren’t going to eat them, they still needed to be perfect,” she carried on.
His brow quirked almost hard enough to split his face. He couldn’t keep the incredibility out of his voice. “You expected me not to eat them?”
She nodded. “Yes. That is correct. You’ve mentioned before that you have your own personal waste disposal crew for valentines.”
“So why go through all that effort if you knew I would toss them away?”
“Because I wanted you to see the effort I was willing to put in, e-even if you wouldn’t eat them. Even if you’re not ready to reciprocate my love... b-because I’ll wait for you.”
Byakuya swallowed. His mouth was very dry. And very very sickly. The chocolate poisoning his mouth must have soured. Or was this the taste of defeat?
She had put him in a bad place. Well, she thought she had. A small smile warmed his lips as he realised she had actually set things up perfectly for him.
“Well, you were mistaken,” he announced. “Because I did eat them.”
Touko slapped a hand to her chest. “Huh?”
“Yes. I ate your honmei choco, Touko Fukawa!” He pointed at her, his grin cutting into his cheeks. “Come along! It’s your turn with the pool cue. What move will you make?”
“Pool cue...?” She blinked.
Byakuya couldn’t have hoped for a better outcome. Now was the time for her to give up on him. To spurn him. To hate him. To think he was like all the others who had drawn her attention. Then she would leave him alone, and she would no longer be blighting his vision or his thoughts. She would be gone.
Instead, she smiled. “Heh... heh heh...”
“... huh?”
“It looks like... in this dark reality... love truly does prevail over all.”
Their conversation had drawn a small audience, but he paid them little attention. Touko wrapped her arms around herself, grinning widely. Byakuya’s face burned. He shifted a foot back, unable to take his eyes off her. She had outplayed him. Gross. She was gross. Disgusting. Repulsive.
“You’re vile,” he said, but that didn’t faze her. Still, if she was daydreaming, she might not notice him leaving. He marched quickly out of the library, not looking back once.
He really didn’t understand her at all.
That was why he spent the rest of the day thinking about her. Her annoying twin braids. Her beady grey eyes. Her stupid smile. Her wet book smell. Her perseverance. Her stupid smile.
Yes.
That was why.
Twilight Syndrome Murder Case - Guy C
[Part 1]
Tumblr media
So... given Twilight Syndrome Murder Case was in the game - I am curious of what everyone else else was doing; I know that girl A was Mikan, girl B was Hiyoko, girl C was Ibuki, girl D was Mahiru, girl E was Hatomi and guy F was Fuyuhiko...
Tumblr media
Yeah I... did recall seeing those names pop up but I'm not sure what everyone else was doing at the time but I'll give you my account of what I was doing...
Tumblr media
On July 8th... I did remember talking with Yukio and Kei about Nagito's status after his suicide attempt...
...
...
...
Date: July 8th, 2011
[X]
Tumblr media
Wait hold on are you saying that Nagito is going to leave the hospital?!
Tumblr media
Indeed... seems that after checking his mental health; he was free to go, so I'm going to check him over and sign him out.
Tumblr media
So by July 11th, he should be able to return back to us...
Tumblr media
That's... good to hear, honestly I was worried about him but at least he'll be okay, so what about you Yukio; you going with Byakuya?
Tumblr media
O-Oh uh, actually I sadly can't... you see, me and Peko are going to go on a date tonight...
Tumblr media
Oooh, talk about lucky for you; Mr. Miyahira, you surely got yourself a good catch...
Tumblr media
Hey if you can confirm if her panties are black for me if you do.
Tumblr media
Wh-What?! Hold on a moment, don't think we are going to that stage in the relationship just yet!
Tumblr media
And besides, it's only just one date... I'm not even sure if it's going to work out or not.
Tumblr media
Exactly, Teruteru... let's not tease him as he does seem nervous...
Tumblr media
Right... that is fair...
Tumblr media
Still... have fun, Yukio...
Tumblr media
Thanks, see ya then... *walks away*
Tumblr media
Well... I better head off too, gotta prepare for exams.
Tumblr media
I got a dish in mind and I think the judges are gonna love it!
Tumblr media
Well I'm sure whatever your going to make will impress the judges very well; see you later.
*As Imposter leaves, Teruteru takes his leave too and heads for the cafeteria which he comes across a sight*
Tumblr media
Hey Sayaka, did you... give me this note?
Tumblr media
Huh? A note...? I don't think so... can you let me see it?
Tumblr media
*gives her the piece of paper* It was on my desk and had your name on it so I figure I give it to you to confirm it.
Tumblr media
'Dear Yokoyoko, I want to meet you as the music room after school to talk about something, please come alone. From Sayaka.'
Tumblr media
Whoa, that's... really weird, hey Sayaka you wrote this? It sounds like a crappy love confession.
Tumblr media
Well I surely wouldn't confess like this, I would of written a song about it if I were to confess to someone...
Tumblr media
So no... Sorry Yokoyoko, I didn't write this if asking; sorry if you got confused.
Tumblr media
Nah... it's okay, probably someone wanted to mess with me, I'll just throw it away; honestly this sounded way too weird especially as the music room is being use during the exams. Honestly if they wanted to confess, pick a better spot.
Tumblr media
Hehe, well I hope this helps you - anyway, I'm going to do some exercising in the training room; excuse me.
*Sayaka walks out of the room until Makoto look at Yokoyoko*
Tumblr media
Okay... now that she's gone, is everyone in your class coming to this party or not?
Tumblr media
Yeah, I mean seriously we need to make you all are good to go.
Rating DR1 Characters on the Bestie Scale
Had a discussion recently about where Danganronpa 1 characters fall on a moral scale of good to evil and honestly, bleh. I want to rank them based on which characters I would be most likely to hang out and be best friends with.
Chihiro Fujisaki We will kidnap Chihiro. This house is an LGBT safe space where you can figure out your identity free from harm or judgment. And we're all nerds so Chihiro will definitely be in good company. I don't want Chihiro to hang out here; I want Chihiro to live here.
Sakura Ogami Much like Chihiro, Sakura would go straight into the "Bestie for Life" category without a second's hesitation. She seems open to friendship and has pretty good opinions about things. She and my norse-blooded warrior enby roommate would probably hit it off easy and spend every afternoon sparring in the field behind the complex.
Junko Enoshima Oh, I am going to get a lot of shit for this placement. But Junko is an ultra-genius charismatic manipulator, and I will fully admit that she could shmooze her way into my home. I'm not going to bullshit you here. She would offer me commiseration on the struggles that me and my family have faced and I would fall for it. Junko is a predator who preys on the vulnerable, and I would not see it coming. I'd be in Ultimate Despair before I even knew what hit me. Please save me from her.
Makoto Naegi There's not a lot to say about Makoto. He's a nice guy, but he's also kinda flakey. He has a lot of friends and he drifts between them, so it's hard to know when he's going to come or go. But he's very supportive and a good listener. I could see us being friends; I just don't think he'd be around very often.
Sayaka Maizono Similarly, Sayaka seems nice enough, but she wouldn't come around very often. That would be her choice. She has an extremely demanding career that not only takes up a lot of her time but imposes a lot of restrictions on the public behavior she's allowed to conduct even in her free time. We'd get along just fine, but we'd never actually see each other.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru At first glance, he didn't seem like someone I'd get along with. But Taka's actually pretty malleable. Despite his rigid sense of personal discipline, he's open to new ideas. He's also desperately lonely. I think there'd be some bumps in the road, but honestly, I think we would get along in the long run.
Mukuro Ikusaba It's hard to get a good bead on Mukuro but like Taka, I think she's open to change. She comes from a much worse background than Taka's but her FTEs and the events of IF imply a willingness to grow as a human being. We can't fix her, but if she's looking to fix herself, we'd love to help her make that journey. This house is a place of healing for those willing to take that step.
Aoi Asahina Hina's really nice when she's not getting on her shit, but we don't have a lot in common. My roommate might get along with her, but she's also very judgmental. When she is getting on her shit, she leaps to conclusions and then clings to them with an iron grip. I like the donut swimmer, I just don't know how well I would get along with the donut swimmer.
Toko Fukawa Toko is another one for the "This is a House of Healing" category but her presence here would be a crap shoot. She needs help and friendship and understanding more than anyone, but she's also twisted herself into so many knots that it's hard for her to accept it. There's a chance she might start to open up to us. There's an equally likely chance that she'd say some really dumb shit about my roommate's wife that gets her kicked out forever, then convince herself that we were just trying to trick her all along.
Celestia Ludenberg Celeste is pretty easy to get along with, honestly. She can be very pleasant to be around, but she's also two-faced. She'd definitely be talking shit about me behind my back. She's also domineering and is definitely a customer service nightmare of the "You put two pickles on my burger instead of three so now I'm going to make it everyone's problem for the next three hours" variety. She has bottomless wealth but would expect me to pay for everything we do.
Kyoko Kirigiri Kyoko is married to her work. She's not looking for friends. She would show up to social events, sip two drinks, and then quietly leave before anyone noticed she's gone. She also has understated gender-traditionalist views that would become really grating whenever they crop up. She would expect me to carry heavy things instead of my norse-blooded warrior-enby roommate and she would automatically assume I know how to change a tire. I don't need that in my life.
Leon Kuwata Speaking of gender stuff, Leon could be a nice bro but he is definitely the most "Neurotypical Heteronormative Cisgender Bro" of the lot. He'd want me to be his wingman while we pick up chicks. He'd want to be my wingman while we pick up chicks. Every time we hang out, I'd have to hear about his latest scheme to impress the latest flame of the week. It's like being friends with Larry Butz.
Yasuhiro Hagakure He's pretty nice in terms of personality but his opinions on the occult coupled with his endless expensive grifts would get him booted pretty quickly. We don't have the time or patience for that shit.
Hifumi Yamada Hifumi can be a nice guy but he also rubs me the wrong way. We're a house of nerds but Hifumi is very much the Milady Fedora type of nerd. The kind who openly rants about how much better anime girls are than real women. He makes his living writing doujins about magical girls while holding questionable opinions about women and consequently I don't think we'd have very many pleasant things to talk about.
Mondo Owada Mondo is outwardly pretty charismatic and cool but he has deep-seated toxic masculinity issues that he doesn't know how to process in a positive way. He's loyal and dependable to his word, so I think we'd get on well at first. But then he'd say the dumbest shit imaginable. That would turn into an argument, possibly even a fistfight with my norse-blooded warrior-enby roommate (especially if he swung at anyone but them). And then he would never be welcome in this house again.
Genocide Jack Yo, that's a serial killer.
Byakuya Togami Every word out of his mouth makes me want to punch him in the face. Not in the fun friendly ribbing kind of way. If he's talking, it's either to insult me or to play intellectual mind games. The only reason I would invite him into my home is so that I could punch him in the face. And he wouldn't show up because he is a snob who refuses to walk among the underclass.
Of An Endless Infinity: Technical Memory (I)
Summary: What does it mean to be the Ultimate Hope?
Is it only hope on the big scale?  That the world is not so dark and depressing and destructive as the villain in front of you says it is?  That you can win, even when everything else says that you can’t?  That maybe it is better to live your life, even afraid, than it is to keep yourself sequestered away, alone?
Does it not also mean hope on the small scale?
Or: Makoto sacrifices himself in the hope that the other survivors might be able to help Junko. It remains to be seen whether this will actually succeed.
Chapter Rating: T. Fic Rating: M for Danganronpa reasons.
Between The Tragedies.
Kyoko stands outside of Junko’s dorm.  A whiteboard hangs on its door, scrawled with all sorts of notes from their classmates (one reads Junko, curbstomb assholes for me!, likely a reference to the video that’s been going around of her saving some other student from clear harassment) and a few idle doodles (one of them a cute little teddy bear of sorts with stitching down the middle of his face like a scar).  She scans it for a few minutes, uncertain.  Her face falls.  She bites her lower lip.  Then she reaches up one gloved hand to knock.
For a moment, everything grows quiet.
It’s funny, how she didn’t notice the sounds of idle chatter coming from inside her dorm until they’d disappeared.  She can imagine it, how each of the regulars look among themselves, one to the other to the other and so on, until their faces become a perfect expression of brow-furrowed confusion.  Her arms cross in front of her, tight.  She feels—
The door pops open, and Junko flashes her a bright, pleased grin.  “Kyoko!  You came!”  She wraps her arms around Kyoko’s neck and pulls her into a tight hug.
Around her, Kyoko can see the expressions of the other girls: Toko, averting her gaze entirely; Aoi, with a look of astonishment; Celeste, pretending as though nothing out of the ordinary is happening whatsoever; Sakura, with her eye focused on her but otherwise unimpressed; Sayaka, eyes wide open and cheeks tinged with embarrassment; and Mukuro, eyes narrowed, glaring at her.
She shouldn’t be here.
This was a bad decision.
She should—
Junko steps back from her and meets her eyes with the fondest smile.  “Thank you.”
Kyoko’s gaze drops.  She shuffles her feet.  “I said I would,” she murmurs so soft that only Junko should hear it.  Her gaze flicks back into her dorm again.  “But I do not believe the others—”
“Don’t worry about them.”  Junko squeezes her shoulder.  “You’re here for me.  Your best friend.  Right?”  She grins as she tugs Kyoko inside.  The door clicks shut behind them while Junko gestures to her with one hand.  “Everybody!  This is Kyoko!  She’s decided to join us for—”
“We know who she is.”  Celeste still doesn’t look up, instead lifting a cup of tea with a carefully practiced hand, her pinky sticking out straight as a knife.  “You don’t have to introduce her to us.”
“Yeah, I know.”  Junko plops down on her bed, hands behind her head.  “But she didn’t hang out with any of you losers—”
Kyoko’s face grows tight.  Hot.  “I do not believe that is a good assessment.  I simply did not believe I would belong at one of these…parties.”  She hesitates on the word.  Party is a weird term for a gathering of girls in one dorm room, but what else could it be called? Perhaps it would be better to call it what Sayaka did when she first invited them to her dorm – a sleepover – but she is unsure.
She also isn’t exactly telling the whole truth.
While it is true that a good part of her believed that she would not fit in at a sleepover such as this in a large group of the other girls such as this, an even greater part of her has been too focused on the case she was investigating to have time for such trivialities.  Of course, she’s had her expulsion threatened if she continues it, but that doesn’t mean the case doesn’t still take up her time, doesn’t mean she hasn’t still been investigating it as much as she can.  She hates the taste – the implication – of failure.  She is a Kirigiri; she will figure it out.
Sooner, rather than later.
“It’s not about belonging,” Sayaka says, interrupting Kyoko’s thoughts.  She offers her a smile, head tilting to one side.  “No one’s really good at these things.”
Celeste snorts.  “We keep Toko around.  I would say that you are an upgrade.”
Toko shoots her a look.  “H-h-hey!”  Her eyes narrow, and she turns to Kyoko.  “Sh-sh-she won’t even stay the whole time!  That’s w-w-weird, right?”
“I simply do not wish to sleep in the same room as a bunch of peasants.”  Celeste sips her tea and then sets it down on the desk in front of her.  “A woman such as me needs her beauty sleep.”
Junko groans, loud, more of a growl than a groan.  “Don’t talk to me about beauty sleep!”  She raises a hand and shakes it at the ceiling.  “Every single one of those stupid magazines asks about my beauty regimen and my sleep regimen.  I’m just answering the same questions over and over, and it’s so boring—”
“Shhh.”  Mukuro gently shifts her sister’s head into her lap and begins threading her fingers through her long hair.  “Settle.”
“No, it’s true.”  Sayaka leans back on one hand.  “Magazine interviewers really do just ask all of the same questions.  Who are you dating?  What’s your next album?  Is there a boy you like?”  She rolls her eyes.  “It’s exhausting.”
As they talk, Kyoko glances around the room again.  Half of them are already in comfort apparel: Junko in her Sweetie Pants, plain white but covered with colorful grids, and a black silk cutaway top that seems tied together just under her chest (and with lace at every edge); Sayaka in an overly large blue button-up shirt with striped shorts underneath; and Sakura and Aoi both in tank-tops and sweatpants – Sakura’s a plain dark blue and Aoi’s covered in a donut pattern.  The other half less so: Celeste still in the same gothic lolita outfit she seems to wear every day; Toko in a version of her uniform that doesn’t seem nearly as disheveled and that doesn’t seem to smell (perhaps she’d bathed for this occasion, which was nice of her); and Mukuro in what looks like half of a combat uniform, which can’t be comfortable, not that she would know.  And despite the fact that Kyoko hasn’t chosen to dress down yet, she doesn’t feel particularly comfortable grouping herself with the others who haven’t.
She still doesn’t feel comfortable grouping herself with any of them at all.
“Here.”  Sakura meets Kyoko’s eyes and gestures with her head over to where she sits with Aoi.
Kyoko considers.  She would much rather stay with Junko, who she knows well enough, than to sit with the others.  But Mukuro has never liked her; she didn’t need that last glare to know that, so sitting with Junko now is out of the question.  Besides, even if she’s here at Junko’s request as her friend, it would probably do her well to spend time with the others.  She doesn’t want to seem stand-offish.
…at least, not any more than she likely already does.
Aware that Junko’s gaze follows her (even when, perhaps, it shouldn’t; even when, perhaps, no one else’s would), Kyoko moves to the corner of the room where Aoi and Sakura are seated.  She rubs her arm once before slowly, carefully, sitting with them.  “Hello.”
“I know you’ve met us before, but I’m Sakura,” Sakura says.  Then she gestures to Aoi.  “And this is Hina.”
Kyoko blinks twice as she turns to Aoi.  “Hina?” she repeats.  “I thought your name was Aoi.”
“It is.”  Aoi’s cheeks puff with frustration, and she crosses her arms.  “But I don’t like the way it sounds!  All those vowels and everything.  And during swimming practice, Coach always calls us by our last name, and Asahina’s a mouthful, so I told everyone to just call me Hina.  It’s a lot easier, don’t you think?”  She smiles, an easy friendliness.  When Kyoko nods, she pulls out a cardboard box hidden behind her.  “Here,” she says, holding the box out for her and opening it just slightly.  “Want a donut?”
Kyoko hesitates.  There are a lot of options, and she doesn’t want anything that will stick to her gloves too terribly.  So she picks up a frosted one that seems to be filled with some sort of cream and takes a bite.
Hina’s eyes light up, and she turns to Sakura.  “See?  I told you she’d pick a frosted donut!”
Sakura raises an eyebrow.  “You also said she would pick one of these.”  She picks a normal frosted donut up from the box and rings it around her finger.  “That is not the same donut.”
“It’s close enough!”
Kyoko swallows a little too quickly and then swallows again, harder, to make sure the chunk of donut makes its way down her throat.  “You two were, um.”  She swallows a third time.  “You were betting on which one I’d pick?”
“We didn’t bet.”  Hina rolls her eyes.  “We just like to guess!  And I’m always right!”
Sakura bops the frosted donut on Hina’s nose.  “You were not right.”
“Close enough!”  Hina leans up and takes a bite out of the donut.
But Sakura ignores her.  Instead, she takes an unopened bottle of cold brew from next to her and hands it to Kyoko.  “Here.  This will help.”
Hina just chews thoughtfully, crossing her arms as she does.  “I mean,” she continues, not paying attention to the drink, “Junko takes a different donut every time, so I don’t know what her favorite is—”
“I know.”  Kyoko takes a sip of her coffee and sighs with contentment.  She settles in a little more comfortably then looks up and notes how Hina is staring at her with wide, excited eyes.  Then she blinks twice. “What?”
Hina grins, lips covered with frosted sugar.  “What is it?”
“Um.”
Before Kyoko can say anything, a pillow hits Hina full in the face, followed quickly by Junko’s voice: “That’s cheating!”
Hina grips the pillow in both hands and glares over Kyoko to where Junko now sits up on her bed. “It’s not!  You’re being mean!”
“You don’t have to know!”
“But Kyoko does!”  Hina throws the pillow back at Junko, who artfully dodges.
Kyoko reads the frustration on Hina’s face and then glances back to Junko, who seems to be enjoying herself.  It’s a joke.  This entire thing.  It’s just an elaborate joke.  She smiles and settles again before turning back to Hina.  “Do I?”
Hina’s face turns red.  “You said you did!”
“Did I?”  Kyoko raises one eyebrow.  Then she leans forward, that same smile creeping across her lips.  “I’ve never had a donut before,” she says.  Strictly speaking, this isn’t true, but it’s been so long since she had one that it might as well be.  The last time she had a donut, her father gave it to her.  The last time she—
Kyoko meets Hina’s eyes.  “Do you think we should do a taste test?”
Hina’s eyes light up again.  A huge grin breaks across her lips.  “Yes!”  Her face falls, and her brow furrows.  “How have you never had a donut before?”  She shakes her head.  “Doesn’t matter!”  She reaches over, takes Kyoko’s gloved hands in hers, and seems not to notice her immediate discomfort.  “You are going to have the best time!”
“You should invite Junko to join you,” Sakura says.  She crosses her arms and leans back against the wall.  “I am quite sure she will reveal her favorite then.”
Hina’s grin brightens.  “Hey, Junko!”  She winks at Kyoko.  “I’ve got a great idea!”
~
Three hours, far too many donuts, and a burgeoning stomachache later, Kyoko feels significantly more comfortable with the group.  Celeste’s left with yet another comment about needing her beauty sleep and slipped through the door with a grin just as Junko shot her a look; Toko’s curled up on the floor in one corner of the room like a cat with her glasses resting on the nearest table; and Mukuro might still be glaring at her, but it feels like that’s just what she does, like she glares at everyone who isn’t Junko.  She even glared at the donuts before eating them.  That may just be her face.
It’s then, though, that Sayaka brings up boys again, and any feeling of warmth or comfort drains from Kyoko entirely.  Especially because Sayaka plops down next to her, turns directly to her, and asks, "So...who do you like?”
At first, Kyoko doesn’t even understand the question.  She blinks twice and says, innocent to Sayaka’s meaning, “Junko?  I guess?”  Then, seeing Sayaka’s face shift into one of shock, she continues, “I…I mean, I like all…of you…?”
Sayaka breathes out a sigh of relief.  “No, no.  I mean, like, boys.”  She leans back against the wall nearest to them and stars up at the ceiling.  “Like how Junko used to like Yasuke before he got expelled.”
At her words, Junko’s face darkens.
“I mean,” Sayaka starts to correct herself, wincing, “how Junko still likes Yasuke?  Maybe?”  Her face grows a bright red, and she covers it with her long sleeves.  “Sorry!”
Junko just shrugs.  “You mean how you like Makoto?”
Sayaka squeaks and hides behind her hands, and for a moment, just a moment, Kyoko thinks a shadow passes across Mukuro’s face.  But whatever she sees, it’s gone just as quickly as it appears.  Maybe she didn’t really see anything at all.  (Maybe she would know what she didn’t see if she spent more time with her classmates before now, if she knew them better.  Sometimes, it strikes her that she doesn’t really know them at all.)
“There was a boy I liked once,” Sakura murmurs, “but I would rather not….”  Her voice trails away.
“So, Kyoko,” Sayaka says into the silence, dropping her hands into her lap, her face still flushed a bright red, “is there anyone you like?  Anyone you’re interested in?”
Kyoko considers this for a few moments.  She presses her lips together into a thin line.  “I’m unsure,” she says, finally.  “I have never been interested in anyone before, and so I’m not sure what it would feel like if I was interested in anyone.”  Her brow furrows.  “What does…what does it feel like?”
Sayaka sighs.  “You’d know if you did.  So there must not be anyone.”
“It’s okay, Kyoko!”  Hina reaches over and pats her leg.  “I don’t really get it either.  Being in love and everything.  It should come naturally, right?  Only I don’t think it does.”  She frowns.  “Maybe I should practice with someone or something.”
“I don’t think practicing with someone is going to help,” Kyoko murmurs, considering it, “but I can’t be sure.”
“You guys are such eggheads.”  Junko collapses back onto her bed with a sigh.  “Can we talk about something else now?  Talking about boys is boring.”
Hina grins.  “Something else like…your favorite donut?”
“No!”
~
It’s in the early hours of the morning, when the others have all fallen asleep, when Kyoko lays on her back and stares up at the ceiling, unable to get her mind to quiet enough to sleep, that Junko pops her face right over her head and says, quite plainly, “Help!”
Kyoko pushes herself up, rubs a hand across her eyes, and blinks up at her friend.  “What’s wrong?”
“My hair,” Junko whines.  “It’s all tangled.”  She frowns and crosses her arms.  “I think it was all the donuts.  Can you fix it?”
“I don’t think donuts can tangle your hair.”  Kyoko slowly moves over to Junko and tries to run her fingers through her pale pink hair.  Her eyes widen.  “Junko.”
“…yes?”
“How did you get jelly in your hair?”
~
A few moments later finds them shut up in Junko’s bathroom with one of her fluffy hot pink towels pressed up against the crack at the bottom of the door so that no light filters through, with Junko seated in a chair with her head leaned back in the sink, and with Kyoko slowly, carefully massaging soap into her hair.  She’s never done this with another person before – never washed someone else’s hair – and she’s never done this with her gloves on either, so it feels very…odd.  Uncertain.  Like she can’t know how much she’s gotten out because she can’t quite feel it; even jelly doesn’t feel so sticky under hot water and soap.
“You can take your gloves off, you know.”
Kyoko avoids the blue-grey eyes staring straight up at her.  “I’d rather not.”
“I’ll close my eyes, if that will help.”  As she says it, Junko closes her eyes anyway and lets out a little hum.  “That feels good, Kyokyo.”
“Good.  At least one of us is enjoying this.”  Kyoko pauses.  She glances down at Junko, checking to make sure her eyes are closed, and then says, “Don’t open them.”
“My eyes?”  Junko sighs, relaxes, and settles a little more comfortably into her chair, a smile playing about her lips.  “Definitely not.  This feels so much better this way.”
At her words, Kyoko pulls her hands out of Junko’s hair.  Her gloves are a soaking, sopping wet mess; they’re made to withstand heat, cold, snow, rain, ice – anything she would need – but that doesn’t mean they’re comfortable for this sort of thing.  She slowly strips them off, places them to one side, and then winces as she sees her hands in the light.  It’s easier – so much easier – to lose them in Junko’s hair than it is to look at them.
Even wet, Junko’s hair is so soft.
Junko is the Ultimate Fashionista.  Her hair has to be full of so many products that it should be dry and cracking beneath her fingertips, oily and nasty and greasy, even without whatever bits of donut had gotten stuck in it, and that’s not even getting into the bleach and dye that must be required to get it to that pale pink color.
And yet, somehow, it’s soft.  Perhaps the softest thing Kyoko has felt against her hands in years.  And she can’t help it – can’t help the little hum of contentment that spurs through her lips.
“That good, huh?”
“Sorry.  I—”
“Don’t worry about it.”  Junko raises a hand as though to give a gesture of dismissal, but when she tries, she ends up hitting Kyoko instead.  “I take such good care of my hair.”
“Up until jelly donuts enter the equation.”
“That wasn’t my fault.”  Junko’s eye starts to crack open, but she screws it tight shut.  She seems to force herself to relax again.  “It isn’t that great, you know.”
Kyoko pauses as she squirts more of Junko’s shampoo into her hand, a soft, light lilac scent filling the air.  “Hm?”
“Being in love.  It kind of sucks.”  Junko leans into her fingertips.  “Liking someone’s not so bad.  Just wanting to be around them.  Hearing what they have to say about anything.  Thinking they’re cute.  At first, it’s okay.  But then it’s like….”  Her voice trails off.
The correct thing to do is wait.  The correct thing to do is not to push.  The correct thing to do is to let Junko drop the conversation if she wants, because it isn’t like Kyoko even brought it up this time.  She hadn’t brought it up last time and—
“You don’t have to talk about him, if it makes you uncomfortable.”
Junko’s brow furrows.  “Some guys are real fucking creeps.”  Her lips press together into a thin little line.  “You’re lucky.  Not being interested.  It makes things easier.”  She chuckles darkly.  “A lot easier.”  Then her voice trails off into silence, and she doesn’t pick the thread back up again.
A few moments later, Kyoko finishes.  “Hold on one moment,” she murmurs after she finishes rinsing out Junko’s hair.  It’s still tangled – horribly so – but it’s clean, so she should be able to comb it out, even if it might take a while to do so.  She dries her hands off and replaces the still damp gloves onto her hands.  “Okay,” she says.  “Open up.  I’m done.”
Junko opens her eyes, and it’s only then that Kyoko can see the red rims, the tears that prick just barely but not enough to fall.  But then Junko wraps a towel around her neck and sits up, then she flashes her a bright grin.  “Thanks.”
“Let me get the rest of the tangles out, and then I’ll braid it, and you’ll be fine.”
“Braid it?” Junko echoes, one brow raising.  “Why would you do that?”
“Keeps it from getting tangled when you sleep.”  Kyoko hesitates, then she places her hand on Junko’s shoulder and gives it a little squeeze.  “I’m sure…I’m sure some guys are creeps.  But you….”  Her brow furrows as she tries to think of the right words and, failing that, tries to say something comforting anyway.  “You’re worth it.”
Junko looks up at her.  “Worth guys being creeps?”
“No.”  Kyoko groans and rubs her forehead.  “It’s late.  I don’t know what I’m trying to say.  I’ve never—”
“It’s fine.  I get it.”  Junko’s grin softens, and she leans up just enough to kiss Kyoko’s cheek.  “Thanks for trying.  Words fucking suck, too, sometimes.”  Then she stands, stretches her hands way above her head, and yawns.  “We can do the rest out there, yeah?  You don’t need the light or anything?”
For a moment, Kyoko can’t say anything at all.  Her skin burns where Junko’s lips brushed against it.  She can’t quite breathe.  “Um.”  She coughs twice in an attempt to reset herself.  “Yeah.  Out there.  We’ll…yeah.  That’s…yeah.”
“Okay, close your eyes!” Junko says before shutting the lights off.  “It’ll help them adjust!”
The sudden shift should be blinding – sudden darkness after such bright light – but it isn’t.  And in that room filled with the subtle scent of lilacs, when Kyoko opens her eyes again, Junko seems to be ringed with light.
~
They are both too tired to move when Kyoko finishes with Junko’s hair, and when they wake in the morning, it’s to looks of bemusement from their friends – and a shot of utter hatred directed at Kyoko from Mukuro.
Note
Hello! I’m a 19 y/o genderfluid person. I’m looking for a danganronpa romance plot? I’m looking for someone 18+ to play one or more (if you played two or more it would either be a love triangle or poly relationship, we can talk about which would be preferred) characters for my oc. If discussed, I’m not opposed to doubling up. I’d play a girl OC. Please be open to smut with build. I will not do bxb smut. This will have mainly romance and drama in it. No one liners. I’d like at least 1 paragraph and for it to be in 3rd person. I will play characters from any of the games. I’d prefer to do a non-despair au and other than that I don’t have any specific plot in mind, but I’m down to discuss one. I’ll definitely take suggestions for how you want the plot to go and we can brainstorm more ideas together. I roleplay mainly on discord, but I am new to roleplaying on there, so if you’d prefer somewhere else, that can be discussed. Like this post if you’re interested and I’ll reach out!
