Hmm ok imma go through each character and describe the relationship, keep in mind that this is like, episode 1 relationships, so not much development has happened yet. This is just Alastor's first impressions and opinions on each character.

Charlie: You are absolutely right, Alastor is definitely invested in Charlie. Honestly it's almost the same as it is in the show, where Alastor is very obviously trying to use Charlie's power to get out of the deal he's stuck in. He's just a lot more desperate about it. He's also actively trying to undermine Charlie's relationship with Husk. He'll often imply that Husk doesn't care about the hotel at all, not like Alastor, of course Alastor cares. Husk will never tell Charlie the truth, but Alastor swears that he totally 100% absolutely will all the time, yesiree!

Vaggie: Alastor does not like Vaggie. Vaggie does not like him. It's a mutual hatred. In the show, Alastor is in control, and so he's able to play and joke and generally hold himself above others. In this AU, he simply doesn't have enough patience or sanity to keep up that sort of facade, so he snaps a lot quicker. Vaggie and Alastor have been seconds away from physical blows before, and if it weren't for Husk and Charlie, they would've destroyed multiple rooms of the hotel.

Angel Dust: Again, Alastor has a SHORT fuse in this AU, so he is not impressed by Angel Dust's flirting. I should mention that Alastor isn't a bartender in this AU, but instead he's like a chef/server on top of running the ads. This is actually the first spot where Alastor and Angel Dust kind've maybe sorta soften towards each other. Alastor hasn't been able to make a lot of recipes from his life in a long time, and he's ecstatic to get back into the kitchen. And Angel Dust, who can always appreciate some good food, is eager to compliment Alastor's work. While Alastor could do without the many variations of "Kiss the cook" that Angel throws at him, he does genuinely appreciate the praise. So like, maybe Angel Dust isn't the worst. Maybe.

Sir Pentious: Alastor likes messing with him. Sir Pentious makes funny noises when you freak him out, and making him squirm makes Alastor feel like maybe he still has some power over his own life!! Really, it's a win-win. Well, for Alastor. Sir Pentious would like some peace, pretty please.

when or if I started shipping it: i think it first Really started with this pokemon AU post clown made talking about what he thought they'd be up to in that universe... the language he uses in that post really caught my eye, and it just kinda snowballed from there, especially as canon started picking up and we saw more of them interacting 1-on-1.

my thoughts: i feel like we don't really get a lot of yuri in this specific Type of horror (i.e. cute thing is secretly fucked up), at least not in the west. i think that's a crying shame, but i believe popstar has the potential to truly open the floodgates. unless i'm forgetting herstory - idk i feel like there's definitely some rpgmaker game out there that'll prove me wrong but you know what i mean. more mascot horror yuri NOW.

What makes me happy about them: i think it's super cute that they both kinda geek out whenever one of them asks the other for help, like they're being asked by this big huge celebrity and not, like. their literal next door neighbor lol. sally in particular - as bullheaded as she is, her insistence on trying to put poppy in the spotlight more often isn't because she thinks poppy is untalented and needs to train up, but because she genuinely thinks poppy is Just That Stunning And Talented And Beautiful, and doesn't want that to go to waste. nepotism has never looked so romantic <3

What makes me sad about them: sally seems to enlist poppy's help Way more than poppy does sally's, and while sally clearly Wants to take poppy seriously, she has a hard time not immediately brushing off other's concerns in general because She's An Auteur, Dammit, She Knows What She's Talking About. it does make me very worried for poppy! i think things between them are gonna get Way worse before they get better lol. not dysfunctional enough to be toxic yuri but certainly painful enough that it will Get Me when it happens.

Sorry it took so long to answer this! I was drawing a comic and it actually added context to a lot of these questions/answered them, so I figured I'd save it until after I was done. There's a lot here so I'm gonna answer it in numbered sections!

1. Names & Nicknames

I don't really have a nickname for him, I usually call him by his full name lol. Peccy is cool lol. His name is pronounced with hard C's. So Pec-cant-um. Or, in case of the nickname, Peck-y

Fun Fact! Peccantum isn't his 'real' name. Like Angel and Husk, he took a new name once he died. His other name was actually shorter (and an actual name too). Peccantum is actually a mix of the words peccatum, meaning sin or transgression in Latin, and incant, in Latin meaning enchant. Basically, magical sin, which sums up Peccantum pretty well actually!

3. Meeting Stolas

I am a fan of helluva! Have been ever since it came out! Despite that I haven't actually thought about this until now.

Peccantum, absolute nerd that he is, would probably be fascinated by Stolas and his powers. Like talking about specific spells, how long it takes to set up, magic of the stars, etc. I feel like they would have a VERY long conversation about magic and space and shit cause Stolas is lonely and Peccantum is very enthusiastic about this topic. Octavia, meanwhile, would get a long list of places in the human world with little to no light pollution. For excellent star viewing, of course.

4. Cozying up to Alastor

The short answer? No, absolutely not, Peccantum learned nothing XD

The long answer? It's complicated and messy. Peccantum, at that time, went into a bad situation because it was familiar to him. Blood, illicit murders, and strange dealings were all part of what Peccantum was taught to do. He thought he could handle whatever Alastor would ask of him. That it wouldn't matter in the end because Alastor would eventually get rid of him.

He wasn't expecting the Radio Demon to vanish.

5. Clothing Choices

You may have noticed during Checking In that Peccantum is wearing a completely different outfit before he's pulled into the hotel! That is Alastor's doing! Because Peccantum wasn't working for him dressed like that.

At first Peccantum was completely on edge because he was expecting Alastor to show up. After that first year, Alastor could call on him at any time! That's a scary thing to constantly have in the back of your mind. But then, Alastor just... didn't? There were rumors that Alastor had fallen to angels and Alastor wasn't showing up? It left Peccantum completely to his own devices.

Slowly, very slowly, Peccantum started making choices for himself, and learning how to live. He got a shitty job, a shitty apartment, but for the first time in years he was actually living, making choices of his own. And he found he kinda liked it. Not everything, of course, but making your own path in life, finding out what you like and who you are... Well. It was nice, for a time.

Peccantum still has his own clothes but he's aware that what Alastor dressed him in is his uniform.

6. Who owns Alastor's soul?

Tbh, I think it's Lilith. Maybe that's the obvious answer but like... That's the only viable candidate we have rn.

Peccantum would be suspecting Lilith and Lucifer, mainly because of the specifics of the deal Alastor made with Charlie. He didn't take her soul, meaning there's some benefit to having her free.... Or the more likely option; Alastor can't. Whatever deal he's under restricts him from taking Charlie's soul. The only people Peccantum knows who care about Charlie enough to fuck with the Radio Demon would be her parents.

I think he would lean more towards Lucifer, though. It would explain the immediate hostility between him and Alastor. Lucifer's ignorance could be feigned to piss off Alastor even more.

However, Peccantum would also keep evidence for Adam and maybe some of the seven deadly sins on the board. He doesn't have enough evidence for them, but he's not going to dismiss those options just yet.

7. Dress up day

Peccantum doesn't own a lot of clothes but he has explored a few other outfits! Here's some of the sketches I made when exploring what he would wear before he came to the hotel.

I do imagine there would be a 'express yourself through clothing choices' activity he would get wrapped up in tho. He can wear just about anything and still look pretty good. Charlie's happy to see Peccantum embracing different styles and exploring! Angel might help pick outfits and push Peccantum out of his comfort zone.

8. Makeup

Peccantum does wear makeup! It's actually pretty new for him, so he's not the best with it and he doesn't go too extreme but... It's kinda fun!

9. Spice or no spice?

I. I have no idea tbh. I'm not an expert in... people flavoring? XD

10. Jumping at shadows

Did you misspell trauma as talents? XD, joking. In all seriousness though, Peccantum is fairly jumpy because he's high strung. He's a very anxious person in general (there are exceptions) and he's in his own head a lot. Sometimes he will forget that other people are there and be surprised when he is reminded of their presence.

11. Errands to Cannibal Colony

Peccantum definitely keeps his head down. Cannibalism in general makes him uneasy, so best to keep out of the way of any hungry citizens who want to try their luck. Peccantum can defend himself, but he'd rather not if he can avoid it. Cannibals travel in packs and the best way to avoid them is to avoid putting a target on your back.

Thankfully, most people there know he's Alastor's, so they leave him be.

12. Alastor and Peccantum

This one is tricky because I wanna explore this more in other comics, but I'll try and give a general overview here.

Their relationship isn't... Healthy. Especially not at first, but Peccantum coming to the hotel does actually put him in a better place. He meets new people, gains friends, and makes a support network that he never had before. On the other hand, he has to deal with Alastor, the constant anxiety of job performance, and deal with/unpack several traumas he's been repressing. It's a mix of good and bad.

Later on, a few months after working at the hotel, I think Alastor does start to warm up to Peccantum some. They become friendlier, not to the point of being friends, but Alastor appreciates the work Peccantum does and trusts him with tasks that he wouldn't have beforehand. By the time the attack on the hotel happens, he trusts Peccantum won't screw him over.

And then the fight with Adam happens.

We don't know what will happen in season 2, and we probably won't for a while, but... I imagine losing that fight with Adam did not help Alastor's insecurities. Personally, I think the Radio Demon is going to close himself off from the others, more than he already has. To feel in control again, he's going to be a lot more strict with his 'employees' and a lot less lenient with Peccantum.

Peccantum, of course, isn't going to know this and would take it as a sign that he's failing Alastor, something he's deathly afraid of. His anxiety would spike and the almost neutral relationship he had with Alastor would turn unhealthy again. There would be a regression of progress.

Whatever happens in season 2 would def affect their relationship tho, so I can't say much more than that for now.

so law has, like, Schmoney. what he chooses to do with this Schmoney is open a third-wave coffee shop in a flagging part of town, hire all his friends, and square away his finances down to the penny so that everyone can live comfortably and his prices are low enough that anyone who passes by can reasonably get themselves something nice

this is a great plan until a guy walks in one day with his phone ringing and answers it with "fuck off, i am not lost"

Oh definitely, R!Tom would NOT handle suddenly being blind too well. He'd probably think Tord had done something to him while he was asleep, plus he HATES physical contact so he would definitely freak out and start kicking/hitting at whoever is hugging him. This of course causes S!Tord to yell and curse "AY FY FAEN!!" which would only DOUBLE R!Tom's panic at hearing an (almost) familiar voice speak Norwegian. He'll tumble out of the bed in his panic and back away as much as he can until his back hits the wall, but he won't move since he cant see, though his fight instincts will be dialed up HIGH and will be ready to retaliate if anybody even comes CLOSE. Then...he starts seeing heat signatures. Which freaks him out EVEN MORE. "Owwww fuck! Thomas what the hell was that for?!"

The figure on the bed says, and Tom has no doubts that it's Tord. He growls and somehow his throat makes an animalistic sound, which, huh cool, but also not his main focus right now. "You stay the fuck back Larsin or so help me god I will KILL you."

But....it seems like he's lost every other sense he had as a hellhound. Everything feels dull and limited. He cant feel any heat signatures, scents dont differentiate each other anymore. LMAOOO i fr pulled up w a spin move there her death in pi was so brutal honestly 😓 but yk me letting my readers be happy is a new development and a bllkverse exclusive normally i’m much meaner!! and i will say that in this version in my mind mc is actually in a different wing altogether during the first selection…she was on the same first selection team as other characters we know (maybe like hiori and aryu??) and she was def on team z but not THE team z ☝🏻 meanwhile tullia was in yet another wing (maybe with shidou) so definitely opportunities to branch away from the main plot!! but then mc and tullia do end up as 2 and 3 during second selection (replacing aryu and tokimitsu) because they’re professional players so they can score 100 goals much faster than the others which means we do circle back to being alongside the manga storyline 😔💔 i don’t even have an issue with following canon because idm messing with that — it’s more so that there isn’t necessarily a CONFLICT for the mc besides being a girl?? but she’s a way better player than most of the bllk guys so it’s not a huge issue which means she doesn’t really need to develop much as a character 😬 plus my vision for her in the NEL is literally that she stays benched for the most part because loki thinks she’ll inhibit charles’s growth too much….so honestly i’m afraid a fully fledged story might not be too entertaining (although it certainly would have its moments…karasu x mc partnership plus a deconstruction/subversion of the “i can fix him” trope with nagi plus the tullia and isagi drama going on in the background) 😵‍💫 BUT smaus are perfect!!

so it started a while ago as a bfu au, and then when they started watcher my brain just kinda filed (FILED???) the au away (no reason, just kinda ran its course). the when ghost files s1 dropped, it immediately rebooted my entire brain lmao.

poe is ryan, but less confident overall, and way more anxious. hes still incredibly scared of ghosts/haunted buildings, which is why he brings karl in with him

ranpo is shane, and they act exactly the same. ranpo walks into haunted locations and starts pulling backstories out of his ass, but they turn out to always be right. hes solved so many cold cases and he is developing an ego. its his goal to make up the weirdest ones and its so funny to him when theyre right. literally such an ass i love him

their dynamic stays mostly the same except they are actually dating. its a running bit with them to pretend they have partners outside of work tho (dazai comes in once, kisses ranpo, hands him lunch then leaves).

louisa, yosano, and tanizaki work at watcher as well, with musitarou as the company’s third co-founder (steven but more unhinged. of course he does the bartending segment on too many spirits. come on now)

the others pop in as guests on their shows (atsushi is a regular on puppet history, and akutagawa has had his fair share of cameos on ghost files)

mystery files is pretty much the same, but poe chooses really morbid and deeply intriguing cases, and ranpo just chooses batshit bananas cases. anytime im feeling sad i imagine ranpoe as the airshock scene. because its amazingly funny.

i drew some art for it a while back (its probably in my art tag somewhere) but it was a while ago and not that good, i really need to draw more lmao

poe is a firm believer in aliens having visited earth, and eventually he just brings them up in however many cases he can just to piss off ranpo.

mushitarou also runs dish granted, except he doesnt know how to cook (he has a 13 hour panic then pulls something out of his ass, 50/50 chance its edible)

they run top five beatdown pretty much the same, except its just the same people (mostly chuuya and dazai) over and over again in increasingly ridiculous costumes (they also have insanely strong opinions and chuuya has had to be escorted out for almost throwing hands w ranpo (ranpo deserved it tho))

puppet history started off as a joke idea from poe but ranpo got super invested and poe decided to go along w it bc ranpo was having so much fun

Hello friends! After getting a few passive-aggressive (and one quite aggressive) comments regarding this, that, and whatever, i sat back and really thought about this fic. i haven't talked much about my upload schedule, but my plan when i write a chapter is to give myself two weeks to write a 7-10k chapter, revise, and post, all while sticking to my very rigorous and rigid outline. as i got more invested in this story, that outline was shifted over, and over, and over, until i was missing my 'rules' for myself over and over. it made me quite upset with myself, and feeling like i was writing too much about what made *me* happy and not enough of what would make *yall* happy, which i saw as more important. frankly, these last few chapters with ere have been the most fun ive had with this fic in months. and with some people not liking the direction i was taking pretending to be you, i got upset with myself for going 'off script' and not following the fic outline and the word requirements for chapters. i felt like, despite the fact that i was *finally* having fun again, i was letting yall down. and that aint a healthy way to approach writing, ya know? ive always written for other's approval. i rarely write for myself. i wont go into a sob story background, but i struggle with self-esteem a lot and fanfiction was a way to help with that. but ive become so focused on making yall happy that ive neglected writing what makes *me* happy, ya know? it's currently 2.34am. despite the fact that im a college student taking night classes and a teacher, ive been up past midnight every night for days working on this fic while fixating on negative comments, and if i can just do *something* make those commenters happy. Basically, this fic is eating me alive. So, i will be going on hiatus. i know this sucks, especially because we're so close to the end, but i need a break. ive been working on this au for *months* and refusing to let myself do anything else. hell, I've wanted to read that delicious dungeon manga for ages and havent let myself bc i didnt want to have 'distractions' from writing this fic. i rewrote an old fic of mine last week (which yall should read!!!) and it reminded me of when i used to write and not get any interaction. i was sad no one was reading my stuff, but i was actually writing for *me* back then, ya know? anyways, this fic is NOT and will never be abandoned. i *will* finish it! I just dont know when. sorry to everyone, and i hope rude commenters know that this isnt because of you, it's for my own sake. still, being rude to people just trying to have fun is, forgive my french, a dick move. do better, please.

Dating sucks and he can’t seem to find anyone he really connects with. His friends look at his dating profile and tell him. Ned. Buddy. Listen. This profile is terrible. You don’t look like yourself. Please for the love of god get some photos where you actually look soft, and nice, and pretty, and get rid of that picture of you and John and George on last years fishing trip.

Enter longtime close friend Thomas Jopson, who just so happens to be a fantastic portrait photographer, and who has absolutely no prior investment in seeing ned modeling partially clothed. Obviously.

Ned was running late.

It wasn’t that it was unheard of for Ned to be late to their Monday pub nights - although he did, usually, text them in advance and let them know if he was going to be - but this was the night that he had insisted all the rest of them be on time, because he was going to bring the new guy he’d been seeing to meet them. What Ned had told them about him hadn’t given any of them very high expectations to begin with, but the fact that he was now making Ned - Thomas checked his watch - over a half an hour late to his own plans, had Thomas’ expectations lowering even further.

“Five quid says they’re fucking,” said Sol, throwing back the last swallow of his pint. “Ned’s never been this late.”

“Good for them, if they are,” said George. “Our Ned deserves it.”

“Maybe he’s fake,” joked Tom. “He did say he’s French-Canadian. Could be a ‘girlfriend who lives in Canada’ situation gone too far, and now Ned’s too scared to show up.”

Thomas rolled his eyes affectionately. “Come on Hartnell, can you really see Ned making up a whole boyfriend?”

“I’m sure there’s a perfectly reasonable-” began John, but he cut himself off quickly as the door opened. “-See, there he is now.”

He waved Ned over, and Ned, eyes downcast and very clearly on his own, gave them a small wave before heading straight to the bar.

“Oh, shit,” said Sol. “Tarts, you may have been right.”
