You know what, I didn’t need to see Ewan Mitchell in HOTD to be convinced; I knew I fucked with Aemond since the Driftmark episode.

I don’t like him because he’s hot when he’s older. I like him because he’s metal as fuck. The way he talked to the floppy four was art.

“It’s him! / It’s me.”

Boy, it sure as hell is him. He ate that line up. The fucking nerve of speaking about him without addressing him. He was so done with their bullshit.

“Your mother’s dead. And Vhagar has a new rider now.”

Gagged her ass. Like, he met her literally today. He never knew her mother, he doesn’t owe her anything. Not to mention that during the funeral he tried to approach them and offer them his condolences with the softest smile ever and they just glared daggers at him for literally no reason until he backed off. Didn’t even let him approach. They don’t even know him and they hate him! And the first thing they tell him once they finally speak to him is accusing him of theft, as if a dragon is an object btw. Like, what are they gonna do? Tell their mum? Shut up.

“Then you should have claimed her.”

Right?! As if they didn’t cross the whole ass Narrow Sea all the way to Driftmark. It’s not like Laena died yesterday. It’s been a good fucking while. They could have at least tried claiming her at this point. What was she waiting for? And please don’t tell me she was waiting for the mourning period to end because she was keeping an eye on Vhagar constantly, hence why she was immediately aware that she flew away. That dragon is on her mind 24/7, she just had no idea how to get her. And like, it’s done. If Vhagar chose Aemond, then she would have never chosen her. They weren’t destined for one another. Don’t get me wrong, I’d be mad as shit, too. At myself, that is, for not being as smart as Aemond.

“Maybe your cousins could find you a pig to ride. It would suit you.”

Ate and left no crumbs. This is a direct jab at Jace and Luc, too. Like, they grew up together as brothers and they thought it was okay to mock him for not having a dragon, but the moment they meet these random girls they are suddenly okay with Rhaena not having one and are ready to jump the boy they were raised with for their shake? How two faced. Typical bastard behaviour though. He was doing that girl a favour by letting her know what kind of people she’s got on her side.

And the fighting scene was delicious. Four vs one and he still mopped the floor with them. Maybe they should think twice before they lay hands on someone again.

Don’t come in my comments crying about me hating on children yada yada. Wake up, this is a fictional show about kids who wield nuclear weapons of mass destruction. Like, it was okay to dislike 11yo Draco Malfoy for being an obnoxious piece of shit, but disliking kids that physically attack another child with the intention of killing him is suddenly too much? Like, I don’t give a fuck. I want to see all four of them biting the curb in 4k. And please don’t start with the racist accusation bullshit. I thought Baela was a raging pick-me cunt since before the show, in Fire and Blood. And I absolutely adore Vaemond Velaryon. It’s not about race. It’s about characters.

P.S. Laena, who claimed Vhagar at 12 and chose to die by burning alive, would be absolutely ashamed about her daughter’s behaviour and lack of courage. But yeah, Daemon, being the crazy ax murderer that he is, would surely vibe with unnecessary violence. Those are his girls!

I don’t know why people keep trying to come up with justifications for why they ignore Baela and Rhaena as main characters. Your stanning characters that haven’t appeared on screen yet so I’m not sure why pretend that screentime matters. No one has to stan any character so I’m trying to understand why lie and keep making excuses for it 😂 like?? Just don’t stan them then if you don’t want to 😂😂

“Baela and Rhaena aren’t the same as the book counterparts”

So because they don’t have word for word the exact life and portrayal that people got from a historical book, then they forever have to be investigated and compared on screen? All the discourse strays away from what was on screen and the attention put on what wasn’t on screen, which is why people have convinced themselves that Rhaena had literally no lines in S1 even though she did. No other character from the show is the same as their book counterpart so why is this only applied to them.

“They don’t appear different from each other, I don’t know their personality”

Even with the multitude of shit writing from the writing team, they are very clearly two different characters and tbh even if they weren’t it wouldn’t matter. Why? Same as my other reasoning. They aren’t the only characters missing development on screen but they are the only characters people just can’t fill in the gaps with apparently. 80% of the discourse surrounding other characters are literally headcanons people made up out of their ass or from the book😂 Like at what point have people seen Rhaena pick up a crossbow or Baela touch a dragon egg and want it to hatch. Please bffr. It also reminds me a lot of the fandom kept intentionally incorrectly portraying Baela as a rough and tough butch lesbian in fics and fan art and getting offended because that’s not how she’s portrayed on screen. All the while ignoring the fight scenes she has btw which lets me know that even if she was portrayed similar to book Baela, they would still be pretending like they don’t see that.

It’s so funny and the same with the Jace/Baela CANON ship. They suddenly can’t see chemistry unless they fuck on screen and profess their love for each other every time they talk, but with everyone else all they have to do is stand in the same room together and the fandom starts writing ship headcanons. It’s so funny and unserious when I hear these talking points.

When Aemond actually showed up during her shift, she became aware of the repercussions of her actions and words.

NOTES: This kinda is an interlude to give just a bit more insight and built the story. Chapter 4 is going to be crazy, and there are going to happen multiple things. 👀 Chapter 4 will also be longer, and because I like my chapters short, I figured it’s best to post this one separately.

The dreaded shift approached faster than anticipated. Once the rest of the bar was cleaned up, you had left to grab some lunch with Baela before heading back to open Choppers. 

While she had told you that her, Jace and the twins left not long after you departed, you filled her in on the more or less weird encounter you had with a customer in the morning. You didn’t mention who said customer was, since Aemond was her cousin and you didn’t want to make things too weird, however, she seemed as if she had a suspicion, and you kind of blamed it on your reaction when he and Aegon came to the bar last night. 

Luckily, the bar wasn’t too busy this evening. 

You lingered at the pool table with Addam, Alyn, Jace and Cregan, while the rest of their gang was busy with something entirely different. Rhaena and Luke still were in Driftmark, and Baela and her mother had set off earlier that evening to join them there for one night, visiting her grandfather and his wife. 

With your presence, you mostly tried to keep the guys distracted, providing them with drinks and snacks to keep their minds off the two blondes, and their troublemakers, that occupied the table from the night before. All members of Dracarys were sitting at the table, meaning the most hot-headed member of the Savage Dragons had to share a room with Aegon, Aemond, Jason, Criston, and the twins, Arryk and Erryk. 

It was astonishing to watch Jace’s mood switch from relaxed and easy-going to tensed and irritated in no less than two seconds upon spotting them in the far back. And with Cregan at his side going through the same mood swings, you didn’t want to risk yet another turmoil on your shift. 

Any other day, chatting and messing around with Jace and Cregan would’ve been easy and casual, but it wasn't everyday you were being watched closely, feeling the eye of a certain someone on you all the time. 

So far, Aemond hadn’t reached out to ask you out again, but you rather blamed it on your company than on him being afraid to do so, because his eye burned into your body ever since he came to the bar a few hours ago, and when you examined him a tad more carefully, it seemed as if he was close to getting onto his feet to approach you at any given minute.

“Hey, sweets,” you heard someone calling out, knowing damn well who this raspy voice belonged to. Aegon. And when there didn’t come a reaction from you, he proceeded to shout your voice in a sing-song manner, until eventually, you turned your head to face him, inviting him to reveal his motives. “Would you please be so kind and bring us another round?” Considering Cregan was the one to serve them the first time, it was interesting to hear Aegon call for you this time around, probably knowing all too well that Jace and Cregan didn’t want to have them there. 

You moved to walk back to the counter, but inevitably bumped into Jace who was close to charging at Aegon. “Don’t fucking call her like that,” he snarled, and while Aegon raised his hands in mock defeat, your hand on his chest was the reason he focused back on you. “I can handle that myself,” you warned with a sharp tone, which prompted the brunette to bow his head once and back up. Even over the music, you heard the men around the Targaryen brother’s scoff, though you were relieved to see Jace paying no mind to it, stalking back to Cregan to finish their round of pool. 

While his temper wasn't something new to you, it being directed toward something concerning you certainly was. Jace had always seemed like someone that liked and enjoyed your presence, however, he also was fine with it lacking. 

As you disappeared behind the counter to draw six beers, you were pleasantly surprised to meet Aemond’s blueish eye as you turned back around once you had reached for a tray. He was leaning over the counter, his veiny hands clasped in front of him and a plain black t-shirt adorning his toned torso. It was the first time you got to see more of his skin than just his hands, face and neck, various tattoos scattered all across the pale skin of his arms. 

Just the mere sight of him up close with a cheeky grin on his lips sent your heart into overdrive, the pounding palpable in your throat, and you brought a hand to your heart in a miserable attempt to try to calm it. While it was a shame he wore the damned eyepatch yet again, you also were grateful, because otherwise you would have perished straight away, the faint scar and the slightly mismatched prosthetic eye giving him some kind of charm that was just too irresistible. 

“I would have brought this to you in a second,” you said with a nod into the direction of the beers, not trying to let your flusterness show. 

Your eyes trailed toward his hands as you awaited an answer that never came, and you spotted what seemed to be a small piece of paper between his nimble fingers, growing curious as to what he planned to do with it. “There’s a bonfire at the Blackwater Bay tomorrow evening. Care to join me?”

A huff of air left your lungs at that, surprised he really took your words to heart, and you slowly prowled towards the counter to grip the edge, bowing closer to him with a matching cheeky smirk on your lips. “Guess I can’t get rid of you, mh?” you teased, but still held out your hand, expecting him to hand you his phone for you to type in your number. 

“Not really,” he returned your teasing, placing the piece of paper in your hand. You raised a brow at that, eyes darting between him and the paper. “What’s this?”

Aemond captured his bottom lip between his teeth for a moment, stifling a chuckle. “My phone died, so, this is the only way for you to give me your number.”

You forgot how to breathe as your eyes fixed his bottom lip, but quickly occupied your mind by looking for a pen. “And you had no time to charge it?” you asked, and wrote down your number, topping it up by adding a ‘looking forward to it’. 

Aemond’s eye followed the movements of your hand, watching you scribble on the paper before handing it back to him. He gladly took it, pinning it between his index and middle finger. “You know, I haven’t been home today,” he met your eyes, and raised his eyebrows, wiggling them once to hint back to your encounter in the morning, “and the shop was busier than usual, so there wasn't any time to take care of that, too.” 

You merely nodded, a slight blush tinting your cheeks as you thought back to your morning. Even though the tension between you two was still there, and as thick as ever, it was a bit more bearable with the counter between you, and the fact that you weren’t alone with enough curious eyes surrounding the two of you. However, if he didn’t bother to charge his phone, you could only phantom of how bad of a texter he had to be. 

From afar, Jace watched your exchange with fury in his eyes, but being too lost in the blue of Aemond’s, you missed the way he slammed his fist onto the pool table once, his shoulders seized by Cregan to pull him back and give him what appeared to be some kind of pep talk. 

It was you interrupting the pregnant pause between you two, slicing right through the tension. “I’ll bring your beers in a hot minute, they just need a touch up, alright?” you asked, and Aemond nodded, stuffing the piece of paper containing your phone number into the front pocket of his black jeans, taking a few steps backwards. “I’ll pick you up around 7:30pm.” With that, he walked back to his gang’s table with your eyes glued to his backside. When he slumped right into his former spot on the corner bench, a shy grin plastered on his face as he looked down to his thighs, you didn’t miss the way his older brother patted him on his back, and the rest of the guys seemed to praise him and hype him up. 

All of the sudden, you became nervous at the fact of having to serve them their beer, and when you approached their table balancing all six pints on a tray, the stupid blush on your cheeks didn’t seem to leave at all. Most of them hadn’t paid any attention to you all the times you met and served them before, but with them watching Aemond asking you out for a date, they suddenly became eerily aware of you. 

Placing the glasses down, you had a polite smile on your lips that faded when you looked at Aemond, and noticed him watching your movements, causing you to sheepishly bow your head to watch your steps before scurrying off. 

Not too long after your shift had ended, you lay in bed freshly showered, and watched an episode of your favorite series. When your phone buzzed, you expected it to be Baela, probably telling you about her day at her granddad’s and asking you to join her for the bonfire, but as the bright screen illuminated your dimly lit room, you squinted your eyes and spotted an unknown number on the screen, the message below reading ‘Best not wear a short skirt or dress tomorrow evening. It’s going to be a breezy ride. – Aem.’ 

Your eyes flickered over the message multiple times, always stopping at the Aem at the end of it. It seemed to be a nickname, and God knew why, but it caused a thousand butterflies to erupt in your stomach, your hands growing sweaty at the thought of meeting him again tomorrow. It was going to be a completely different setting than if you were serving him in the bar, much more intimate and personal. 

The sensations only became stronger when you realized that he was going to pick you up on his motorcycle. Yet, what exactly did you expect from a biker? Your breathing grew shallow, and suddenly, several outfit choices rattled through your brain, not one fitting enough for you to settle on.

And then it dawned you that you’d spend some time being pressed to his back… with him between your legs. And with your heart nearly bursting through your ribcage, you prayed to whoever was listening to give you enough strength to not give into the burning aching that teased you at the apex of your legs.

… hopefully that prayer would bear fruit.

ohhhh the family drama in this one was DELICIOUS, i enjoyed it very much.

i will admit i found the time skip a little jarring at first even though i knew it was coming, just because so much stuff happened during those years, but emma d’arcy and olivia cooke were absolutely SERVING and i loved them.

rhaenyra with her kids … rhaenyra obviously loving them so so much … rhaenyra smiling as soon as she saw baby joffrey … oh it was a lot.

as soon as older rhaenyra said “fuck” while climbing the stairs i was like. yes. absolutely. i love you, this is perfect casting.

i have been overly invested in daemon and rhaenyra’s children ever since reading f&b so i feel pretty emotional actually seeing jace, luke, joffrey, rhaena, and baela on my tv screen. they’re real! they’re little and squishy! i want desperately to protect them!

i’m really glad that they included alicent’s “do keep trying, sooner or later you may get one that looks like you” bit, it’s such an iconic line of bitchy dialogue.

i SO wish that we had gotten to see more of the relationship between rhaenyra and harwin (they didn’t even kiss!) but the little bits that we did see of it were really tender and lovely, especially with baby joffrey.

helaena targaryen being a weird little girl with a bug collection is something that can be so personal, actually.

also, her saying something like “you’ll have to close an eye” while aemond is talking to alicent about wanting a dragon … please oh PLEASE let helaena have prophetic dreams, that would be great.

i am aware that aemond targaryen is going to grow up to commit a ton of war crimes but honestly i just wanted to give him a hug in this episode.

alicent being constantly exasperated that her children are growing up to be a bunch of absolute weirdos was really, really funny.

we finally got to see vhagar! she is so large and so ugly and i love her very much and seeing her fly with caraxes was a lot of fun.

i’m really sad that we only got to see adult laena for one episode, she was so regal and self-possessed and i really liked her interactions with her daughters and the fact that she clearly doesn’t want to indulge daemon’s sulking.

the implication that daemon stayed away from westeros for 10 years because he couldn’t stand to be around rhaenyra when they were married to other people … oh man. oh boy. that is so much. can’t deal with this right now, sorry!

alicent and criston having a weird warped version of fealty and courtly love based on their shared hatred of the same person … yesssss i love it give me more.

harwin strong in his dilf era repeatedly punching criston cole in the face is literally everything i wanted to see from him in this episode.

viserys talking about the bonds of friendship being forged through combat together while aegon ii is beating up his nephews is just like. jesus christ. viserys please learn to read the room.

alicent and larys having their scheming little dinner together was so fun, especially since it’s clearly a common practice. seems like larys is going full-on villain and that’s going to be entertaining to watch.

kind of sad to see that daemon and rhaenyra’s marriages are both breaking down, but i can understand why since there are a lot of stressors in both of those relationships.

around halfway through this episode i was like “there seems to be a lot going on here, maybe i won’t have to watch harwin and laena die yet” so the last 10 minutes absolutely sucker-punched me.

rip lyonel strong you were a real one and possibly the only man in westeros with both honor and common sense.

i am not quite sure how i feel about laena’s death, i always thought childbirth was a lazy way to get rid of her and i can see that they were trying to add more dignity/autonomy but it also made it more violent … i’ll have to think on it.

the milf on milf violence in this was just really fun and i can’t wait to see more.

i am READY for the funeral drama next week, bring it on!

I just finished watching HOTD and I have sm thoughts rumbling inside my head and I’m going to try my best to get them out in a way that makes sense

HOTD 2.07 Spoilers Ahead

- The ending of this episode saved it sm omggg. And please I understand why these side characters need this story building. Esp Daemon, I think we as viewers have been robbed in a lot of ways of seeing Daemon as a multi dimensional emotional character. However, this is why shows need to go back to 24 episode seasons. When there’s only 10 episodes before we lose these characters for two years I wanna see more action and not so much story building.

- The scene with Jace, my bbg 😖🫣🫠. I loved that scene bc it shows that Jace is insecure. He realizes what people say abt him and in some ways he probably believes it as well. Bc even if he has “plain” features the thing that separated him from the small folk was his claim to a dragon. Now that the small folk can claim dragons it’s like he is one of them. And I understand those frustrations (if we had 24 episode seasons 🙄) I would’ve loved to see wherever he went and have like a private moment amongst himself or even with Baela

- Daemon, Daemon, Daemon 😭😭. I’m sorry but him tripping acid in Harenhal is so genuinely funny to me. In seriousness tho we stan Oscar Tully cuz we love seeing Daemon humbled. The way he was able to spin the situation and make Daemon the uncomfortable one? Yeah you ate down mama

- The scenes with Matt and Paddy are just so good their chemistry off the charts. And the fact it was Paddy’s suggestion to do the scene as decrepit Viserys makes it even better bc it’s Viserys telling Daemon here the crown is yours, you’ve always wanted it, but while I hand it to you, look what it did to me.

- As someone who has not read the books, I saw that in the books Rhaena was happy in the Vale and that makes me sick cause that girl deserves it. Pray she claims a dragon next episode.

- Can a book person confirm is Alyssa had a sister? Cause ik with the kings guard from last episode (sorry I’m bad with names) they like made up Aerianna? So I wanna know if Hugh’s mom actually existed. Also hate hm character development/screen time he’s gotten as opposed to other side characters makes me sick.

- All those small folk in Dragonstone had me like, idk sista, but Rhaenyra seriously gained infinite aura points being able to calm Verthimor down.

- Vermithor knew damn well he ain’t have to burn all them people like that. Which leads me into my point that I love that these dragons have personalities. Like Syrax is literally just a girl, Vermithor is hot headed, Vhagar is an old lady, I just love that aspect of the show and someone give us a dragon personality fic

- Ulf stumbling onto a dragon like that I thought for sure he was dead. And also another clutch of dragon eggs???? Do they not know abt silverwing? Sm questions but when he went to kings landing I thought for a moment he was going to claim House Hightower. And when Aemond got to a haggard she was like “not again cmon”

- PERIOD THE DRAGON AT THE END WITH HER CREW BEHIND HERRRR!!! FUCK AEMOND WE DONT NEED HIMMMM!!! Such a boss power move like that was epic

- My favorite part abt next weeks preview was seeing Aemond tell Haelena she would have to ride Dreamfyre. Like she’s not meant yo be a warrior princess she’s meant to run in a field of flowers

But those are my thoughts if you somehow read this whole thing awesome and let’s talk in the comments I love talking abt these things it makes my day!!!!

While one can argue Criston Cole has a power dynamic to contend with in both situations (though I would argue he still consented to both), the difference is Rhaenyra was 17, and and Alicent is a woman in her 30s who also prides herself on being religious and practically pious🤷🏼‍♀️ one of them really ought to have known better then sleeping with a member of the Kingsguard, but I won’t say which one.

S2E8 (spoilers abound)

Absolutely LOVED the pre-episode peek at Knight of the Seven Kingdoms in the "coming in 2025" part of the "must see HBO" preview. If you're gonna stick in an ad before HOTD, that's the only acceptable one.

Poor Tyland got sent to negotiate. He really needs to leave the Small Council. "And sit the Iron Throne yourself." He doesn't want it, dude, trust me. Why is Tyland calling himself Master of Ships? That was his title under Viserys I. Under Aegon II, he's Master of Coin. Gee, the writers got something wrong, again? Who'd have thunk it?

Lohar is very pretty, I'm happy for the gender switch. She's gonna kick Tyland's ass (and he just might thank her for it).

Aemond just sitting on Vhagar, assessing a burning city that I can't identify, then they approach it. Whatever.

Aegon's healing awfully fast. Larys comes in (immediately recognizable by his limp even before the light is on his face) and says that the place Aemond just attacked is called Sharp Point, which is along the Gullet.

Battle of the Gullet, here we come!

Aegon about Aemond: "Fucking mad cunt." Truer words never spoken.

Aegon, honey, if you had had complete control of your faculties at the time, you would've seen this coming a mile away. "My dragon is dead." I still want to know how Joffrey Baratheon says almost 170 years later that Sunfyre ate Rhaenyra, yet in this show, Sunfyre is dead long before Rhaenyra. (The answer is, of course, that Joffrey was quoting the books while this show has forgotten that the books exist.)

I could've lived happily without hearing about Aegon's dick, Ryan. :P

Alicent wants the Grand Master to get her and, presumably, Helaena and Jaehaera the hell out of KL. Can't wait to see how badly that goes.

"I wish to have children by you." Called it! "I want you to fuck my wives." Oh! Well, that puts a whole new spin on it. (And interesting that Essos has both gay marriage and polygamy.) So, Lohar is sapphic. That probably should've been obvious by her wearing pants and leading a navy. Good for her.

Ulf embarrassing himself once again. Too bad we're stuck with him until next season.

"Serve me well and I will make you knights of the realm." Rhaenyra, you really should've offered to make them lords. This, after all, is the kind of thing men are ennobled for.

Oh, Ulf did learn his dragon's name, good to know. It's kind of sweet how he talks about her. Grace? He doesn't know the meaning of the word. "A sense of humor would do you all good." He's got a point.

Daemon and Alys in the Harrenhal godswood. He puts a hand on the heart tree and we get a vision of Brynden Rivers, Daemon's great-grandson, who won't be born for another 45-ish years. This Brynden still has both eyes, which is in keeping with GoT's version of him but is, of course, not what's in the books, Brynden having lost an eye in battle at the age of 21. (He's my ASOIAF special interest, can you tell?)

We get the fucking Night King, Daemon drowning in the Gods Eye, the red comet (which was never explained in GoT), Dany's dragon eggs, and the back of Dany herself at the time of their hatching. (I'm sure the Dany stans are going nuts right now.)

Daemon approaches Rhaenyra on the Iron Throne, then Helaena (in the same nightgown and robe she wore when Aemond tried to get her to fight) tells him it's all a story.

"You know what you must do," Helaena says, then we see her at a stone railing. I'm absolutely terrified she's going to jump, if only to get away from Aemond, who just showed up.

She tells Aemond that she saw him set Aegon on fire. Brave move, but stupid. "(Aegon) sits on a wooden throne." Our girl seeing the future -- unable to sit on the Iron Throne, Aegon will sit on a wooden bench beneath it.

Helaena is more in control of her dreaming and, frankly, more composed. I don't know if it's anger, grief, or something else that brought about this change but I do like it. (Phia is, as always, killing it.)

Rhaenyra and Addam at Harrenhal. Rhaenyra, this place is cursed, don't stay long.

"And to whom are you sworn?" Daemon starts speaking High Valyrian to her. Honey, that's not going to work this time. "Winter is Coming." Fucking hell, we are never getting away from GoT's shit ending.

"...until death or the end of our story." Okay, maybe that little vision quest knocked some sense into him, good to know.

Yeah, you better kneel, Ser Alfred. Pig.

Rhaena thinks that she, on foot, can chase after a flying dragon. Yeah, she's definitely Daemon's kid.

Oh, now it's Alicent's turn to visit Rhaenyra. Fucking hell, none of these visits were in the books. Alicent, this all could've been said in a letter.

"He was very fond of me and I of him" Alicent, you are a liar -- you cared nothing for Viserys. I don't blame you but please, don't try to make yourself into something you weren't.

She's offering to just surrender KL and the throne to Rhaenyra. Yeah, Rhaenyra is right to scoff. Oh, she thinks she can have Aegon bend the knee and that will be the end of it. Helaena isn't the only dreamer in this family.

"Come with me." What in the Rhaenicent was that about?

Rhaena still chasing what I assume is Sheepstealer as the armies are on the move. "Rains of Castamere" plays as we see Jason.

Um, Tyland, Lohar, it's fucking raining, get below.

Alyn and Corlys wearing armor on a boat. You're both idiots. Go overboard and you will absolutely fucking sink.

Rhaena stumbling across Sheepstealer and he roars at her. Great beginning.

They're ending this season on the moving of the pieces on the board? I guess this means the Battle of the Gullet will be the first episode of S3. Jace gets a two-year reprieve.

OMG OMG OMG!!! HOTD SEASON 2 EPISODE 1: BLOOD AND CHEESE!!!

Okayyyyyy! Boy! I just saw it and I have so much to rant and talk about!!!

But before we go into it, for those who hasn't seen it yet,

this is a spoiler! Below the cut

So don't venture if you don't want to loose your fun.

The first and foremost thing we see is Wolf Woods and Winterfell. And man! Did I not feel nostalgic!

Cregan Stark is carrying a sword through out the journey to top of the wall, probably Ice.

I really like the way they have changed Jace here. The hairstyle, the words, the way of talking to a Lord. This Jace is what I connect to, the one we know about in books.

Emma D'Arcy! You woman! I love you! I love you so so so much. Rhaenyra doesn't has more but one dialogue in the whole episode but through out it all I can see her speak. Every scene made me cry. Rhaenyra stands at the edge of castle, looking to anything she could, I would say to even hold a false hope of Luke being alive. Her desperate climb through the stones when she hears fishermen yell about the Dragon wing (Arrax's), her clutching Luke's clothes, looking at last memories that she has of his. It's lovely.

We finally also see Mysaria. Her interaction with Daemon is brilliant. She is shown as who she is. A woman who works for gold. I have no disappointment here.

Larys, you foxxy bastard, look at you trying to put Otto out of his position. Filling both Aegon and Alicent's ears with poison against him.

Aemond, struts into the council room, you cunty little bastard. I loved Ewan every moment of him. That is exactly how I expect Aemond to be.

Aegon. Loved it too. We see him in more than just a sorry ass drunk. Fine-fucking-ly. I like how he takes control of the throne room the second time Otto tries to tell him what to do. I'm really ready to see Otto get kicked out of his position. But boy. You sweet not to sweet anymore summer child, what are you doing. You can't call your unhinged brother loyal as a dog when he's planning war behind your back, something even your granddad is pointing at.

ALICOLE!!! Woohoo you people! Yes they are fucking! They are fucking right the moment when Blood and Cheese come and kill Jaehaeyrs.

While speaking on the matter, (Please don't attack me, this is only my analysis of show and somethings I compare from the book). Blood and cheese is disappointing. To me atleast. Child murder, of course it's not right, very, very, very bad. But I rather like the book part. We have no Maelor up until this stage in the show so it's basically making Helaena choose between her twins which, I'm sorry, looks stupid. The whole point of it was making a choice between two sons. The Greens basic usurpation is based on the fact that Rhaenyra is a woman. So why the hell would Helaena be forced to chose between her daughter and son. It would have been obvious that she would have chosen Jaehaera to be dead over Jaehaeyrs. She is not an idiot. We know.

And if we talk about the show sow why she did it? My reason, perhaps she doesn't wants her son to see or face what is coming. Or maybe she had seen what he doesn't wants it.

Helaena at the start in the first scene when Aegon comes looking for Jaehaeyrs tells him "What if he doesn't want it?" It feels like a call back to times when Aegon didn't want it. But still, she knows a woman's life is much worse in Westeros specially in time of war, so why save a girl who would lead a bad life instead of the son who actually had a chance to get out of that. Is it a call back to Viserys choosing Rhaenyra over Aegon? Wouldn't know until next scenes.

Rhaena. We see her on the council table and while they are burning Luke's and Arrax's remains. I wanted to cry just seeing her. She looks so distraught.

I love how he paid that Gold Cloak to do his bidding and how that man went "Commander" and "Fuck the Hightowers". We see the loyalty of the Gold Cloaks to Daemon that we know from books and the first season. Loved every moment of that.

Ok, and you're racist for using Laena as an excuse of made up ship (Laenyra) to shit on Daemon X Laena in order to praise your incest ship and for not wanting Nettles in the series cause could ruin it. Whatever happens it seems is always the black characters who gets sacrificed for the sake of white characters. I said what i said.

Um, this has the energy of this:

Oh God you really let it all out there. Minus calling Emma ugly(again guys can we please not call the actors/actresses ugly), I don’t think you are wrong and I get your frustrations.

It’s pretty clear this show has an agenda, is biased towards one character in particular at the expense of basically everyone else, and has a misogynoir problem.

Now to be clear, even though Emma is going along with what is being pushed, I think it’s inaccurate to blame any of the actors or actresses on this show for what is happening. Because at the end of the day it’s the show runners and the execs at HBO who are calling the shots. Emma is just a mascot for their agenda(take that as you will).

They more than likely purposely picked Emma because they wanted to make Rhaenyra into some feminist warrior queen who has a rainbow coalition of supporters against the conservative greens.

It’s corny, but with another character like say Rhaena the Black Bride(who’s already a lesbian) or even Visenya(who’s a warrior queen) it could work.

However the problem with choosing to make Rhaenyra into a revolutionary type figure/girl boss/feminist is that she’s the complete opposite of that.

Rhaenyra in canon is a racist to the point where she’s willing to use it to explain away murder, she mocks Laenor for being gay(says her half-brothers who are children are his type), looks down on and underestimates the small folk, and doesn’t even bother to help advance other women(Stokeworth and Rosby) in her class much less women like Nettles.

Her and Alicent have a completely different relationship dynamic in the books than in the show.

She’s selfish and self-focused. She’s malicious bordering on sadistic. She even puts her own children in danger for her own wants.

And before her followers go moaning she’s done too many things to claim that she’s been wrongly framed by the narrative. No sane person is chopping off heads and feeding it to dragons or trying to murder innocent women in their sleep. That’s not maester propaganda. She’s objectively awful.

She may be a woman, but she’s no better than her brother. Women can be just as awful as men(for Christ’s sakes look at real life not everyone is wrongly accused because of sexism). Rhaenyra shows that. Even at the last moments of her life she pretty much has zero remorse IMO.

For those reasons, I absolutely hate that the show is trying to redeem her. I hate how they cast Black actors to use them as human shields to make her look progressive, to lessen her atrocities, and even to make her something like her death look less atrocious.

Fans see Black people(the characters) supporting her vs. the mostly white greens they go that’s the progressive team(that ideology is so f*cked up). They even have Black fans supporting Rhaenyra because of all the Black secondary characters.

Never mind that these characters(who are race-bent) are being screwed over by the narrative, haven’t been presented in the best light, and have had their stories be rewritten to better serve Rhaenyra and make her look sympathetic/noble/just. The best who are treated way worse than their white book counterparts.

They added Ser Vaemond calling Rhaenyra a whore to justify Daemon killing him when in the books he rightfully calls her out and gets unjustly beheaded and feed to a dragon as a result on Rhaenyra’s orders. Then his sons and cousins get reprimanded by with some getting their tongues cut out, but that’s all been cut out.

Instead of showing that was loved or at least cared for by Daemon like in the books show Laena has been regulated to sorta second best(third best if you factor in the Viserys situation). She’s unloved and unwanted. Her suicide is made into a girlboss/empowering moment instead of being criticized for what it is away to make Rhaenyra’s death look better. Laena’s character is a walking stereotype(disposable Black girlfriend, look it up).

The audience eats it up of course and instead of calling out making her into a stereotype they are upset that the show did not make the non-canon throuple situation happen so they could get more brownie points for their I love Black people, I'm not a racist, I just don't want that Black person who isn't a plot device on the show act.

(I’m calling it non-canon cause you can’t only use the word fond to support a relationship, especially when you claim that word means nothing when it comes to Dettles which has more evidence than a single word).

Even Laenor has been made into a deadbeat dad. Corlys looks stupid. The girls have been given nothing to do. Addam’s whole purpose is to scarifice himself for Rhaenyra which is why they are highlighting him so much.

It’s absolutely disgusting.

I have no idea what they are going to do with Nettles, a character who doesn’t need to be race-bent cause she’s already Black, but based on their track record it could be terrible(I’m holding out hope though). She shouldn’t be treated like she’s just some whore or Daemon's mistress. She has her own plot, she’s loved by, and she’s one of the few survivors of the dance(and one of two dragonriders).

If the show was decent at all they’d do the right thing and show her as the multifaceted character she is and not regulate her into another stereotype(I guess they’d go the Jezebel route).

I totally get where you are coming from on the racism aspect. This is obviously lost by most though. Hell, most in the fandom are racist themselves, but skirt by because they like this show using the Black characters as human shields. It's a circus.

And no one is going to take this rant seriously since you went a little too far. All they are going to focus on is you calling Emma ugly, which again was uncalled for, but I get the essence of it.

Why does Rhaenys support Team Black when, as far as she knows, Daemon and Rhaenyra killed her children, while Alicent basically offered her a position in Aegon's council?

Laena died... during childbirth/commiting suicide by dragon

Rhaenys said Laena died because "She needed our Maesters" - she's not accusing Daemon of murdering her daughter, she's basically saying "Oh, if only she had been home instead of moving away, our doctors are better, her and her baby would have been fine" which her husband full on pointed out was not true.

Trying to find someone or something to blame when a loved one dies is a very common thing in grief, it's not the same as genuinely believing your loved one was murdered by their spouse because the doctors couldn't get the baby out.

Laenor's (Fake) Death

While the show never made it clear if Rhaenys believed her, Rhaenyra DID tell her, very clearly "I did not kill your son", and Rhaenyra went into the marriage knowing full well that Laenor was gay, and didn't do anything against him even when he failed to keep his end of their agreement of "We'll have a few kids together while sleeping with people we actually like on the side" for well over a decade.

That doesn't exactly paint Rhaenyra as a trigger-happy person that is going to immediately kill anyone that inconviences her - especially not when Alicent, as well as her children and grandkids, all of which pose a threat to her claim to the throne, are still alive and well.

At the very least, I think Rhaenys is unsure if Rhaenyra helped Daemon kill Laenor, if Daemon acted on his own, or even if they both were actually fully innocent. They do live Westeros after all, someone else could need Laenor gone for reasons that had nothing to do with the Blacks VS Greens conflict.

(I do think it was very stupid of Rhaenyra not to go "Actually, your son is alive and well, he just ran away" and I don't mean just in the confrontation, but literally the very second they put the plan into action. Would have spared her of a major headache)

Bhaela & Rhaena are Team Black

Laena's daughters all live with their father, aka Daemon, aka Rhaenyra's husband and seem very loyal to them both. Opposing the Blacks could mean seeing her allies kill her granddaughters, or even having Rhaenyra and Daemon hold them hostage and abuse them as revenge for her disobedience.

There's a reason why, when Rhaenys was considering supporting the Greens (or at least staying neutral on the whole conflict) Rhaenyra reminded her that, instead of being a tyrant, she could also choose to be VERY generous and have her grand-daughters marry their cousins/step-siblings, thus inheriting the throne and Driftmark - it's both a cunning AND diplomatic way to sway someone important to her side.

The Greens Fucked Up

The Greens held Rhaenys hostage and stole her dragon right after Viserys's death, with people being hanged and beheaded left and right for not bending the knee to Aegon II (aka breaking their oaths) -and then Alicent said to the Queen that never was "I know my husband should have never been king and that you were clearly the superior choice, but can you pretty please step aside again try to help me control my son that I can't even fucking find right now because he drank too much and passed out somewhere?"

Alicent can spend all the time she wants trying to frame this as being genenous and offering her to be the King's advisor - it doesn't change the fact that this whole thing is a direct threat against Rhaenys and a major insult (seriously, imagine expecting a Targaryen not to be pissed that you stole their dragon).

Now compare that to Rhaenya saying "Baela will be queen someday and Driftmark will go Rhaena's children. Your descendents are going to inherit the Iron Throne and the seat of House Velaryon through the female bloodline, to compensate you for the fact that you didn't get to be queen and that your GAY son that you KNEW was gay didn't have any heirs to inherit Driftmark because HE didn't keep his end of the deal, so I didn't even have to do this in the first place."

Also, take into account that Rhaenyra allow her and her husband to take their sweet time deciding if they were going to support her (to the point that Rhaenys even admited that she was the one person trying to prevent a truly massive war), and also allowed her NOT TO BOW TO HER DURING HER CORONATION.

Who do you think offended Rhaenys and made her feel cheated, and who offered her a ton of respect, freedom and political claims that could make her at least consider supporting them? Because let's not forget that...

Rhaenys is not fully Team Black

Like I said, she did almost side with the Greens when Viserys was still alive and did not kill them when she had the chance even though that would have ended the war because, in her own words, it was not HER war. Her and Corly did NOT support Rhaenyra right away, and while she looked proud and even happy in her coronation, she did not bow to her Queen.

Rhaenys prioritizes her interests (and the interests of her family) before loyalty to ANY king or queen. If the Greens had played their cards right with her, she would have supported them or at least remained neutral as long as possible.

But they didn't, so she's supporting their enemy, who offered her a better deal. Just the nobles and royals playing their Game Of Thrones.

Baela hated Dragonstone. She hated her father. She hated Princess Rhaenyra, their dear stepmother.

She hated all of it. She knew Rhaena hated it too, but her anger was silent, more upsetting.

"I miss grandmother." Rhaena frowned. It seemed she was not allowed to come to Dragonstone or would not come, especially given what had happened.

They could not exactly send ravens. Their father would find out.

Moondancer seemed to be in agreement, the dragon growing large, yet still not large enough to perhaps outrun Caraxes or Syrax.

"I want him to find out. So he knows how much I despise him and the Princess."

"Rhaenyra is not so bad." Rhaena shrugged, ever the diplomatic one. She did not mind their stepmother's presence. She was not an evil stepmother, but she was not their mother.

She tried to bond with the girls. She would ask about their days at dinner at which they were all made to sit together. ,

"Well, I kissed a serving boy." Baela announced at the table, "He was very sweet. I can see why you tumble so much in your youth, Father." Her voice was sickly sweet, and Rhaena smiled at her.

Rhaenrya and Daemon were far from pleased, however, dismissing Jace and Luke to speak to the girls. Where her sons had accepted and embraced the new order here, the girls did not.

Baela rolled her eyes, "Yes?"

Daemon glared at her, "Is that all you have to say for yourself?"

"I'm sorry, father, you interrupted me. I am rather exhausted and Rhaena wishes to finish her book." She said sharply, "What do you want?"

"Apologise to Rhaenrya for your behaviour." He said.

"Will she apologise for fucking you just hours after you buried our mother?" She asked sarcastically.

Rhaenyra shifted, "What-"

"For two people so prideful of their Valrayian heritage, you forget that Baela and I speak and understand all dialects." Rhaena said, "We heard you."

They had heard them discussing the matter, wanting to figure out how to approach Rhaenys and Corlys, dealing with King's Landing. The spoke in High Valaryian, knowing Jace and Luke were not fluent outside of commands for dragons. It was merely another sign they had forgotten about the two girls.

"You never loved mother." Rhaena said quietly, yet her voice was steely, "You are cruel. I hate you."

Daemon glared at his daughters but it was Rhaenyra who spoke, gently clasping his hands in front of her, "I believe sleep is needed and we can discuss this in the morning when we have all calmed down."

"Of course, Princess." Rhaena muttered.

Rhaenys sailed to Dragonstone one moon later. Rhaenyra had written, expressing her concern.

"Grandmother." Rhaena smiled upon seeing her, running to her and hugging her when she saw her. The Queen Who Never Was embraced her tightly, still dressed in black but regal as every.

"Rhaena. My darling girl." She greeted, stroking her hair gently, "Where is your sister?"

"Father confined her." She said with a pout.

After the argument, Baela took her rebellion to a new level and Daemon locked her in a separate room. Rhaeyns frowned at that.

"The last thing we want is for her to influence Rhaena." Rhaenyra said gently, "The two have been

"You once offered to foster one of the girls," Daemon said, "Do you still wish to?"

"Baela can come with me." Rhaenys said, "She could inherit Driftmark one of these days. She should know her mother's home."

"Why can't I go too?" Rhaena asked sadly. She was trying not to cry. She willed herself.

Rhaneys sighed, "I would take you too. But they are convinced the two of you must be separated to grow." The younger girl sniffled and her grandmother simply hugged her tightly.

Baela and Rhaena hugged tightly, "I shall write. And when Moondancer is big enough, I'll fly here to get you." She vowed quietly.

"You must come and visit." Rhaenys said pointedly, "So that she may see her mother's ancestral home." She glared at Daemon, before pressing a long kiss to Rhaena's forehead.

"Listen to me. Sweet girl." Rhaenys spoke lowly, wiping her tears, "You may not ride a dragon or wield but you are the blood of the dragon. You are strong and you will flourish."

Rhaena looked at her father.

"It's for the best." He said, after a while, "Independence, especially for twins is a good thing."

"You married a mere day after Mother's death. I am surprised you care for independence." Rhaena said, storming back to her chambers without caring for his response.

She was not Baela. She had no dragon, no physical weapon. So she would have to find another way of escape.

"I wish to go to court." Rhaena announced at dinner, "In King's Landing."

hotd episode 5 thoughts:

this was a pretty talk-heavy episode, which i guess is to be expected after all the action of rook's rest, but i am glad it seems like there will be more dragons and drama in the next episode

ooooh boy the greens parading the head of meleys through king's landing was NOT a good pr move, it is such a bad look to show that the creatures you based your entire reign around are fallible and can be killed

kind of thought aegon's burns might be even worse than they turned out to be, but the maesters having to cut that armor off his body because it had sealed to the wounds was pretty gross

i feel like rhaenyra and alicent need another secret meet-up to commiserate about workplace sexism because WOW those two councils were infuriating

jace flying off on his dragon to do some unsanctioned diplomacy just like rhaenyra did when she was a teenager…he really is his mother's son

i HAVE missed caraxes the noodle dragon, it is true, good to see him again <3

daemon's petulant little "i did not think they would be so eager to die" while sitting on a rock in his fancy dragon armor was really fucking funny

we got to see jeyne arryn and the eyrie, at last! and some of her dialogue was a direct quote from the books, which is fun

rhaenyra and mysaria's dynamic is one of my favorite surprises of the season so far, it's nice that rhaenyra has someone she can be honest about her frustrations with

man, daemon's harrenhal dreams are getting FREAKY. at first i thought that lady he was hallucinating was aemma but. uh. nope!

i continue to love how no-nonsense simon strong is and how done he is with daemon's dramatics

i'm continuing to appreciate how this show is giving screentime to the smallfolk and emphasizing how much an impact the war is having on them

need someone to adopt cheese's dog and give him some good pats please, he deserves better than this

alicent and criston really are never ever getting back together after this episode

it was fun to see the twins and that jace is pretty good at this whole diplomacy thing. i don't THINK the lady at the table was sabitha frey otherwise they would have mentioned her by name?

i really like how unimpressed alys is with daemon and her dragging him for his poor planning and tactics while also getting more hints of her magic

i feel like my stanning of house blackwood has perhaps reached a slight bump with this batch of war crimes. alas!

i liked when the laena hallucination turned up just to drag daemon for being an absent father

really pleased by the amount of baela and her characterization that we got in this episode, hope we'll see more of rhaena too

we can debate blacks vs greens as long as we want but everyone MUST acknowledge that rhaenyra has VASTLY better taste in who to appoint as her hand

aegon waking up just long enough to say "mummy" after alicent has already left…kill me now

rhaenyra immediately knowing that jace had flown out and done diplomacy without her was such a mom move

in the book the new dragonriders is mostly jace's idea so i like the idea of it being a jace and rhaenyra collaboration, and i'm VERY excited to see vermithor and silverwing next week

My thoughts on Episode 7 SPOILERS AHEAD

I am guessing this will be a heavily Black episode on account of the dragonseeds. Edit: I was right!!!

SYRAX AND SEASMOKE MEET AGAIN! Addam is very brave and he seens very taken with Rhaenyra. He really likes her or believes in her. Good god, he has the medieval man ™ ego. Leave fame and memory indeed. Do great things, a calling. She is so pleased. 

Ugh. Alicent this season has gotten on my nerves. From patriarchy victim, to patriarchy ally, now she thinks herself a victim again. But she is the female influence in the raging misogynists she raised (Aegon and Aemond I am looking at you) Why did she expect to be loved by the commonfolk if she did nothing for them? Neither did Rhaenyra, really, but at least she wasn’t firing and giving an abortive to the victims of her rapist son. 

Larys is so wrong about the mystery rider. Aemond is sending men from the revolt to the wall

Jace. His face as he hears the news about Addam is a poem. Trouble there. Corlys’ face? Also a poem. I bet he thinks it’s Alyn. 

Mysaria, as always the voice of reason. Pure blood… Rhaenyra girlie, come on. She hesitates on using the commonfolk as dragonriders. Army of bastards, she calls them. 

Corlys and Addam! Addam has won me over already, he remains humble. Corlys is such an awkward father. 

The Tullys! And the horrors! Baby Oscar Tully setting Daemon right. He is so brave. I love him. If he had inherited sooner, Daemon would have been whipped into shape much sooner. King consort. I am laughing so hard, he is getting roasted by a child. So now they are allies, and the kid carries a sword bigger than himself. He is very regal. Daemon keeps interrupting him and making things worse. He is very smart and has guts. I like him. Daemon looks about to pounce on the poor boy. 

I agree with his punishment. Raping and looting as a war tactic is not right, and the Blackwood ruined plenty of lives. All in all, nicely handled. He will be a great player, one day. Family, duty, honor suit him well. I have to confess he changed my opinion on the Tullys (Who I despised in Got)

And Daemon hesitates. Killing his ally seems to traumatize him, which shows a hint of humanity in the man that gave orders again to pillage and rape. 

Viserys again. Crown hallucination + wise advice about wanting the throne and the crushing weight of it on the one who wears it.

Aegon y sus tres pelos tratando de recuperarse, me da demasiada risa. Larys appears. Cheers on him, a mix of praise and tough love. 

Alyn and Corlys, he is giving him more important tasks. Huh. So that explains the mystery about Celtigars, Velaryons aren’t dragonlords either. Interesting about their mother. Corlys guesses she is the one with Valyrian descent. I wonder how beautiful she must have been.  

Rhaena watches the babies leave and doesn’t go. Fabulous costume worn by Lady Arryn. We track a dragon. 

Poor Alicent’s Kingsguard, forced into a camping trip from hell. 

Ohhh, Jace upset about mixed blood claiming dragons. Insecure because the dragonseeds might look more Valyrian than him. Jace worries about when Rhaenyra dies, worried the lords will not follow him because his hair us dark. Ohhh, he throws Harwin in her face. His argument to succeed was having a dragon and now she takes it from him.  She is set on it, it could give them the edge they need. Suddenly, Addam is a sign of the will of the gods. I see how it is. 

Mysaria sends notice to the dragonseeds in King’s Landing, along with the boats Alyn organized. Ulf is going, it seems. So is Hugh, who is Saera's. I fucking hate Targaryen men, so many abandoned children. Assholes. Poor couple, they lost their little girl.

It’s mentioned some women are going too, and it makes me a bit angry knowing they scrapped Nettles because no successful dragonseed will be a woman. 

Alicent cut off the self pity. Drowning is not even such an efficient method, but it appears she was just swimming and not trying to die. A dragon? passing interrupts her.

Ah, now the dragonkeepers rebel too. Dragons are too sacred, the last of old Valyria to give like toys. They quit. Their order won’t partake. I love Rhaenyra’s motivational speech after they get yelled at in a language they do not know. Lovely. Also, her dress is gorgeous. She still wears the necklace Daemon gave her.

We start with Vermithor, who has a dramatic entrance fit for him. I love Emma’s acting. Their Rhaenyra truly acts and feels like a Queen. Subdued Vermithor and gave a smug grin, even (So hot!!)

First to try, and everyone royal + Addam leaves??? Feels so feudal. They truly see them as less, as more expendable. They watch on a little platform, increasing the otherness. Whoops. There they go, up in flames. 

I loved the claiming of Silverwing and Vermithor. Has to be my favorite scene this season. It was brilliant, from the twist of the script to the way the camera moves following them. You feel as if you are the one being chased and tumbling down. Hugh was especially compelling to me, trying to help a stranger and distract the dragon and instead ending up claiming him. I doubt anything they do can top this scene from me. The last focus being Rhaenyra’s smiling face with teary eyes is so strong. She knows she sacrificed so many lives in a matter of minutes, but she now has Vermithor so it’s worth it. She looks both haunted and pleased, give Emma their Emmy now!! As for Ulf, I liked how Silverwing chose him after giving him a good sniff. She keeps grumbling at him as in disbelief by how dumb he is, that he doesn’t pet her. But Vermithor is the one I loved the most.  

Green council. Daeron is name dropped and he now has a big enough dragon. But interrupting the news is Silverwing (I think?) Aemond is on a horse to get to Vhagar and face him, which will never be not terrifying. She has taken down two dragons now, but they flee.
