Wake Up Babes, New DCA x Reader Fic Just Dropped!

I come with a humble offering of my very-first-ever writing. Of course it is these goddamn jesters.

Summary:

"Waking up in a strange place with no memory of how you got there, you find yourself accompanied by friends you don't know and surrounded by animatronics reminiscent of a video game you're barely aware exists.

With nothing but a vague feeling of familiarity and your own intuition, you must navigate the complexities of your newfound life. Uncover its mysteries, evolve friendships with humans and animatronics alike, and grapple with growing affections and high tensions.

Just beware the dangers lurking within your new world."

Tips for talking to someone with hearing loss

(this is what helps when people are talking to me, and when I'm talking to my relatives)

Make sure they can see your mouth. Lip-reading helps with clarity, and facing them while you talk also helps a lot with volume. People are really bad about getting your attention, starting to say something, then turning away mid sentence. Stay facing them the whole time!!! (People are the worst about this while we are shopping together!)

Be comfortable with repeating yourself. Either they will ask you to repeat yourself, or you will realize they misheard you. Both of these are fine- just repeat yourself clearly and make sure they can see your face while you do. "Never mind" makes me sad :(

If someone misheard you: try rewording your sentence! Maybe certain sounds are harder for them to hear than other sounds. Instead of "grab that shampoo!" three times at increasing volume, try "grab that blue bottle, the one next to the conditioner" or "I like that dandruff shampoo up there, can you put it in the cart?" There are a lot of ways to rephrase things that will give the person you're talking to more chances to understand, and it feels much less patronizing for everyone. And make sure you're facing them so they can see your mouth!!!

If someone misheard you: try a Yes, And approach. If your grandma didn't understand your question and starts telling you an unrelated story, enjoy it! When she is finished, thank her, and then try asking your question again with more clarity, or worded differently. "No, that's not what I said" is much less enjoyable for everyone involved.

Enjoy your conversation! Not everything needs to be understood perfectly. The important thing is that you are spending time together and talking to each other. Each conversation is a journey and you will get there in the end!!!

I am just somehow OBSESSED with Takeru DRIVING. Like is he a bad driver? He speeds past the gang waiting outside of Daisuke's restaurant (or the restaurant where Daisuke works, whatever), so maybe? Is that his mom's car? Or is it his car? Why does he NEED a car? What is he doing that requires him to drive? Is it going to be a plot point in the movie? Is Takeru being a BAD DRIVER going to be a plot point? I need to know.

Ken and Miyako are also visibly startled when Takeru speeds past (Miyako JUMPS!!!!), while Iori and Hikari don't even flinch. What does that say about DYNAMIC?! Are Iori and Hikari more used to Takeru's (presumably bad) driving? That would make sense, no, cause they are (canonically???) closer with him? Just such a small interaction and I can interpret so much and draw so many conclusions!!! How fun!!!

There's just something really so fun about watching characters you've loved your whole life continue to grow - to see new details about them spring up, new traits, new things to add to canon. It's the most delightful thing about the Digimon Adventure franchise to me. Sure, the stories they have told over the last decade have mostly been all various shades of mediocre, but the character moments - goodness, the character moments just don't hit the same in any other media for me. It's so special to me.

ETA: WAIT, looking at the screencap, Iori looks slightly concerned. Only Hikari looks calm (though she does turn her whole body to look at the car once it stops). Does this mean HIKARI is the only one comfortable with his driving? Cause Hikari is closest to him? (I don't even think their closeness is something that is debatable - I feel like it is PRETTY CANON that they are closest with each other???????????)

A little announcement!

I took the time out to finally make my characters accessible to learn about! Now if you go check out my toyhou.se, all of the characters from the MYMK universe have small, 2-3 paragraph blurbs explaining their whole deal, so it's not completely impenetrable anymore.

This is also an informal "my ask box is open" announcement, since now that my funny animals have decent public info, if anybody wants to know anything further about any of them, I do absolutely have answers to basically any question (including for minor side characters) up here in my head, so, ask away! THERE WAS ASH / SCREAMS , BURNING TASTE 'PON TONGUE raven was merciless as he fought his way through their enemies. punch after punch, cinder ablaze as firey doom befell them swiftly & precisely. they've met on an off chance as he was suddenly ' teleported ' to take a hit for the surgeon. it wasn't like the hit would have gone through flames instantly defended the freckled pirate in a heart beat ; as they always do. / silvery hues flickering nonetheless in momentarily confusion / ace wasn't sure what he'd done to the guy to be dragged into his problems like that. he was just enjoying a meat skewer & having a chat with a very good looking local who wasn't very subtle hitting on him.
