Time for our regular reminder to people from New England that our native dialect’s charming slang for a small liquor store is a racial slur in the rest of the English speaking world.

Yes I know we don’t mean it that way. Yes I know we have no idea. Yes I know that people from Pakistan hardly ever visit New England let alone settle there, and it is 💯 innocently meant in New England.

It is extraordinarily unfair that the racial connotations of keeping a small corner shop means that it unintentionally doubles the impact of the slur.

It’s wicked uncool but there you go and now you know.

For some reason, while I certainly believe the Zhuming's weather is probably not too different from other Xianzhou ships, I can almost imagine that it probably still has the warmest temperatures compared to them. (Kind of like living a bit closer to the equator than most other places.)

The year they get together, sometime in November, Billy starts to get irritable. He perks up for Steve's birthday and briefly for Christmas, but it lasts well into the new year.

He's usually cranky early in the mornings or when Steve makes him stay up too late. But it seems like he's easily set off, angry at anyone and everyone who tries to talk to him.

Steve does his best to keep Billy level and learns to walk away when it gets to be too much. And Billy will find him and curl around his back with an apology. An explanation about how he's feeling off and tired, even when he gets enough sleep.

Steve assumes it's a cycle, kisses his cheek, promises to close the bathroom door quieter in the morning.

Daylight Savings comes and Steve starts to moan. He hates losing an hour, feels like he doesn't make up for it for a week.

But the days get longer, the mornings brighter, the evenings more pleasant. March into April and Billy relaxes. Begins to unwind his shoulders. The air warms up, the trees start to flower and Billy softens.

"Sunflower," Steve coos. He's laying on a picnic blanket in the backyard. Billy's tanning beside him, arms outstretched.

"Fuck you call me?" he grumbles but there's no heat.

"My sunflower," Steve replies. "You just need a little sunlight and you feel better."

It's hard to tell through his shades and the sheen of sweat on Billy's skin, but Steve's pretty sure he's blushing.

Maybe next winter they can take a trip down South, where it might be a little warmer, where Billy might be able to loosen up a little more.

Also no story post till Monday because today’s scene went from one part, to two parts, and finally grew into three parts. Meaning it took eons to shoot and also now gets its own week ✌🏼

thinking about the twinyards first summer in South Carolina and how they both talk big game bc it gets plenty hot in California too, and Nicky nods along and buys extra ice cream and fans anyway. the twins refuse to go back on their word but Nicky watches them both make sure to always sit where the fan will hit them, he watches how fast the ice cream is depleted as they tear through it twice as fast as normal. he makes sure to be discreet as he drops water bottles next to them frequently because he knew they would underestimate exactly how hard the humidity would hit them and he knows their prides won't let them ask for it.

Like, You live in this world, and like. Amalabairga is a name you Know. She's this massive grizzled bear monster that summons Blizzards and has claws as long as your forearms. You're scared of the bearer of winter if you have any sense. she could kill you a hundred ways without even using her magic. What's the namby pamby bearer of Spring going to do to you? Make flowers bloom in your face? Give you a lil hay fever?

I know I complained about the 30+ degree heat and all but can I. can I have it back. it's been raining off and on all day and there's maybe been 10 non-consecutive minutes of sunshine and if I thought the heat was draining my energy it's nothing compared to being cold and everything being grey and lightless and what do you mean it's only going to get colder and greyer for a few months and then only really slowly brighten up again how am I meant to function through all that I'm already tired
