We moved these rugs and vases all around @pleasanthome - a turn of the century Prairie School style home in Oak Park, Illinois. We were shooting a launch campaign for a retailer so we tried a lot of variations to get just the right shot. // Both of these images are polaroid transfers and must have been scanned in for us to review. You can tell by the uneven edges of the film and the smokey quality of the light. You can see the original Prairie School tile in both shots. The second shot is out on the porch and the first shot // We shot the entire project in November during the shortest days of the year. We utilized polaroid transfers for some of the shots although watching @joellarsonphotography drag open the shutter meant we couldn’t move a muscle during film exposure. Even today, I marvel at how gifted he is at light capture. The 1897 John W. Farson House, also know as Pleasant Home, Oak Park, IL. Designed by a contemporary of Frank Lloyd Wright, George Washington Maher, who is typically classified as a Prairie School architect. Located not far from FLW’s Oak Park Home & Studio. The home does incorporate Prairie and Arts & Crafts features, but the interior has the feel of a dark, heavily embellished Victorian home.
