Played on: 2024/05/18-06/02 Total playtime: 134 hours (yikes...)
(Apologies for the brief title; all of my attempts at titling this review ended in shoddy isekai title facsimiles.)
First game I've seen end credits on in a couple months! I somehow blacked out for about 2 weeks and ended up with over 100 hours played to achieve perfection (time well spent, to be clear!) I started off playing with friends, but when the host of our multiplayer game went out of town, I tried to fill my Stardew void by watching a bunch of optimization videos. It made me feel less overwhelmed than being thrust into a multiplayer file with zero knowledge and a constantly ticking timer. Eventually, I decided to start a solo save file.
This was my first time playing a farming sim, so I had few expectations beyond it being a tongue in cheek "chore simulator." There's always something to do "tomorrow" in game: work on the farm, get a specific fish, work on a request, go deeper in the mines. It was quite difficult for me to find a good stopping point, so I would often work through a whole season in one sitting. Thankfully, the game feels slow-paced enough that I didn't feel compelled to optimize to the point of save scumming, though I did want to complete community center bundles and get to Ginger Island as quickly as I could.
There isn't much I'll be spoiling for this game, but I've placed a break since this is a longgggg post.
Rough timeline of what I did each year:
Year 1: community center progress
Finished most of the community center, with the exception of red cabbage and rabbit's foot. Did a little bit of everything and leveled all the jobs. Overall, it didn't feel too tedious, and the mastery levels felt pretty fair as well.
Got to floor 120 of the mines by the end of summer. I was able to unlock skull caverns, but I didn't make a trip out to the desert until winter because the fall harvest season was so busy.
Didn't do much socializing with the townsfolk beyond festivals and requests every few days--there was gold to be made!
Year 2: community center finished!
I was expecting to wait until summer, but I was lucky enough to snag a red cabbage during the 3rd day of the Desert Festival (Spring 17).
With the unlocked greenhouse, I was able to start printing money with ancient fruit (and eventually ancient fruit wine). Yay for exponential growth: 1 plant became 2, became more with the seed maker.
After getting a prismatic shard and trading it in for the galaxy sword, I made more trips to the skull caverns (this time with more confidence and much more cheese/espresso on hand).
Planting a lot of coffee crops in spring was probably the best/worst decision I made. It's a reliable (and technically "free") crop, but it requires more time investment than some other crops because of how quickly it grows and can be harvested.
With the fixed bridge, I quickly got the gold scythe from the quarry mine. The quarry dungeon was probably one of the few parts of the game I didn't revisit often (only when farming for artifact troves from the flying heads, and even then it was easier to buy them from the desert trader with omni-geodes.) The only gameplay function I used even less was panning; I only encountered panning sites so often, so it wasn't worth keeping the pan in my inventory. (I know one can wear it as a hat, but there are so many other good hat cosmetics in the game!)
Year 3: started Ginger Island, got married
Tumblr media
Year 3 late summer farm layout. (Please note the glow-up during year 4, documented below.)
In order to set up the farmhouse and get to exploring Ginger Island, I neglected the main farm for most of spring after setting up a patch of ancient fruit outdoors. (Unbeknownst to me, this neglect delayed perfection by at least a few seasons, since I lost rarecrow or two due to spreading weeds / lightning).
Continued my ancient fruit farm on ginger island and in greenhouse. Had my first returns on kegs. By the middle of the year, I had farming down to a once-a-week problem: harvest the fruit, stuff it into kegs, sell the wine.
I caught all the fish (the remaining 3 tropical ones), cooked all the recipes, and finally finished the museum.
More skull caverns: forge upgrades made it even easier.
I liked the golden walnut gimmick since it encouraged exploring the island and repeatedly farming the dungeon in a way that reminds me of the korok seeds from BotW. However, I got a little frustrated and ended up using a guide for the last 30-40% of them.
Unlocked casino (only spent enough time there to get the rarecrow, then never revisited--sorry, Sandy!)
Tumblr media
Full shot of my farm, in Fall of Year 4. (Looking at this now, a few weeks later, I feel like I could have put more blue grass around the greenhouse/clock, but I still like most of the design / layout choices I made.)
Year 4: last few items on my checklist before perfection.
Tumblr media
Screenshot from post-perfection summit cutscene/credits. "No Joja services used".
I usually only decorate things when there's a utilitarian function, but by year 4, I didn't have that much to do in-game besides wait for my ancient fruit wine to print money. (Plus, I didn't want to reach perfection with an ugly farm.)
I did some planning/plotting through spring/summer (though I still had a patch of ancient fruit going for some money)
got return scepter - last big ticket item
tried some Qi challenges (fairly straightforward for the amount of hoarding i did), with the exception of the Qi bean challenge. (I didn't have enough farm space when it was available.)
perfection achieved (winter 2)!
Tumblr media
Farmhouse layout. Note the bed + TV + farm computer placed next to the door so I could leave every morning as quickly as I could.
General gameplay:
farming
Manual watering was probably my least favorite part of the game. (Insert "I do not dream of labor / James Baldwin" meme here.) In retrospect I should have sucked it up and done a funky layout with basic sprinklers (waters 4 adjacent tiles) as opposed to deluxe sprinklers (waters 8 adjacent tiles) so I could automate watering as quickly as possible. Thankfully, farming became faster/easier over time. By the endgame, I no longer had to individually harvest crops and could use junimo huts to gather crops in my absence, or the iridium scythe to reap several at a time.
The energy mechanic is clever and gives choices more weight, but it made the early game rough (especially combined with an energy penalty for staying out late.) (Chopped down two trees? Go have a nap at 11 am.) Of course, 2-3 stardrops, a cheap food supply, and some upgraded tools later, I was much more comfortable staying up/out late. Once money was no longer an issue, it was better to let Linus/Marlon tuck my character in after passing out at 2am (for just 1000g).
fishing!
I enjoyed this minigame, so much so that I would often fish just for the sake of it. The best part of a season was often the last week, when I had no other obligations and could just sit at the beach to fish all day. I appreciate that in single player (vs multiplayer) the clock stops while a fish is on the line, so I could take as much time as I needed to to reel it in.
lifestyle / dating sim
Probably one of the weaker parts of the game (due to personal gameplay preferences, not writing quality.)
I found most of the characters pretty charming, though they felt a little archetypical at first. Maybe it's because I didn't try to get all the bachelors/bachelorettes to 10 hearts by dating them, but their storylines felt a bit unfinished compared to the other characters. (Perhaps that gameplay mechanic became an accidental reflection of real-life amatonormativity; one is not a fully developed person unless one is in a romantic relationship.) For the non-romanceable characters, I really liked Robin/Demetrius (though I was initially disappointed I couldn't date either of them
) and whatever Marnie and the mayor had going on. (Just get together already!)
I ended up having my character date and marry Abigail: she's easy to get gifts for (just had to set up a single crystalarium with amethyst), I didn't feel too guilty (someone wasn't already interested and she didn't have other responsibilities/aspirations that conflicted with life in a small town) and there were some aspects of her story that I found relatable.
Tumblr media
Scene from a successful fulfillment of Willy's request (slay enough bugs for 100x bug meat).
combat
The exploration/combat part of the game grew on me over time, even if it was simplistic. The only things under the player's control are character positioning/facing, attacking, and blocking (if using a sword).
I really enjoyed the challenge of Skull Caverns and improving my floor count and iridium yield each time, so the "dangerous" version introduced in Qi's challenges was nice to pick at when I had nothing to do farming-wise. I could take the boring route and sleep, or if it was a lucky day, head to the mines. I did it often enough that I reached perfection with 200+ bars of iridium and 999+ iridium ore in a box I didn't know what to do with (which I probably should have sold to fund the gold clock, but oh well.)
Misc
External tools that were helpful:
Stardew predictor/checkup: super helpful for finishing museum (not sure if I'd use it in future runs since it takes a little bit of the fun out of geode gacha). Also predicts days on which useful floors in the skull caverns (e.g., prehistoric) will spawn, to help with monster eradication goals.
Stardew wiki: pretty much every question I had was answered here: identifying what I needed for a particular recipe I didn't yet have; fish availability/behavior; where to find a certain mob (and what it drops); etc
Stardew planner: figuring out farm layout without spending a lot of time I could otherwise be playing the game trying to tetris everything together at Robin's (especially due to the wonky forest farm layout)
On what makes games "cozy":
I appreciate that there's the same things every year; nothing is miss-able in the game (festivals, seasons, weather events like green rain). The predictability and lack of urgency was nice. But also, the purgatorial nature weirds me out if i think too much about it (everyone is the same age, stuck in this small town, forever). It's interesting how this theoretical eternity contrasts with the finite stories and character arcs the NPCs have. (To be clear, I don't want more content related to maxed friendship, and I don't think a permanent friendship decay mechanic would be helpful, either? It's just a bit weird how one can max out friendship with an NPC, then never talk to or gift them ever again.) That being said, there's really memorable writing within those limitations featured in the heart event cutscenes, as well as in more trivial interactions like the characters' reactions to gifts (e.g., Krobus slathering half of the void mayo on himself and eating the rest.)
The player character's achieves their dream to escape corporate life and make something of themselves (and their grandpa's farm) instead. It feels a little bootstraps-y, but also a reflection on the modern corporate rat race and the desire to reconnect with nature.
What next?
another farming sim? Maybe, if the focus isn't on the farming part of things. (I assume my dislike for the repetitive manual labor is more of a "me" problem than a game design problem; in most cases it's the point.) I'd have to try out more "cozy" games to better articulate what I like about them.
Eventually, I'd like to do a Joja route run, but probably not for a while (I'm pretty stardew-ed out.) Thankfully, with no restrictions on what to farm/forage/fish, I could probably succeed within an in game year.
Probably won't do JotPK, but we'll see next time I boot up the game.
I'd like to finish (at least the community center) on my multiplayer files!

Let's Play Some Demos! - Part 17
Tuesday, January 28, 2025
Welcome to Part 17 of the Let’s Play Some Demos! | LPSD series! For those who are new, I aim to introduce gamers to, usually, Indie games and to provide commentary and feedback on the games for educational purposes! For this episode, I used some of the demos I had grabbed from the Cooking Fest and Cozy Quest Steam Events! I think. I grabbed a bunch during those events, and outside of them, so I don't know anymore
Each demo gets 30 minutes, not including the adjustment of settings and character creation.
Today, I, attempted, to play 4 demos for your enjoyment, which resulted in my picking a fifth:
Doloc Town - Available: To be announced Doloc Town is a cozy pixel art farm simulation game set in a post-apocalyptic world. Build your dream farm from scratch and explore this mysterious wasteland. Harvest, plant, build, and battle against ferocious creatures while discover the untold stories of this forgotten land!
Feed the Cups - Early Access Game Feed the Cups is a Roguelite multiplayer online cooperative game. Run a Drink Shop, stocking up, preparing ingredients, taking orders, crafting drinks, cleaning up, and checking equipment. Join your friends together!
Manitas Kitchen - Available Welcome to Manitas Kitchen, a casual cooking game with a dressing of arcade and mini-games, where you'll meet Trexito, a T-Rex with short arms that has one dream: to become the best pizza maker!
Mushroom Picnic Party - Planned Release Date: Q1 2025 Help find little mushrooms and prepare for an epic picnic party in this cute hand-drawn hidden object game!
Rift of the NecroDancer - Available: Feb 5, 2025 The NecroDancer's back in an all-new rhythm game! Dragged into a strange new world, Cadence must engage in musical combat with monsters surging through the Rift! Face pulse-pounding Rhythm Rifts where every beat is a battle, all set to an original soundtrack by Danny Baranowsky & friends.
All links above are to the games' Steam pages.
Why was it an "attempt" to play? Because the gameplay for Feed the Cups could not be recorded, just like with Backpack Battle. So, since the rest of the demos were short, I decided to grab a fifth! I'll have to pick a day to play the non-recordable demos on my own, take screenshots, and do a separate mini-review. Despite this, I will still be able to render a verdict, via the "Layered Compliment Sandwich":
Doloc Town's pixel art was great! I LOVE a pixel art game! And was enjoying the protagonist's oversized shirt and what looked like a welding mask. And, almost, the second I found out jumping was faster than walking, I became a hopping fool. The game has an interesting balance of tutorial and figure-it-out. The tutorial for removing platforms needs a slight adjustment. It took me a minute to figure out what "at your feet" meant. There's trying to be creative and then there's needless confusion. Advising stand on it to hit it with the pickaxe is fine. What I found amusing was when the bag got full, there was suddenly a letter about where to get a bigger one. Convenience kink!
Feed the Cups looked promising, but I can only comment on the snippets that actually showed up in the video, which was the art. It wasn't bad. I was looking forward to seeing more. And I think there's a pattern with their demos; they made Backpack Battle. If I remember, I'll dig deeper to see if it not being recordable was on purpose. It's not a good business move if it is, though. Video game journalism includes videos and, a lot of the time, people buy games because they saw someone else play them. I'M one of those people. Before I buy a game I'm looking forward to, or even their DLC, I look at reviews. I look at game footage. I wanna know what I'm getting into before I buy. So, IF they are purposely blocking their demos from being recorded... why?
Manitas Kitchen was a pleasant surprise! The typos threw me off, though. I don't know if I have a learning disability, or if it's because I'm Autistic, but the less grammatically correct a sentence is, the longer it takes me to process it, so there were a few pauses as I was reading. THANKFULLY, the tutorials were in pictures, which made picking up on the mechanics easier. I'm a visual learner, so words must come with pictures. Examples are, usually, needed, and they delivered. Well done! An annoyance, though, is the small space. The stations need to be widened a smidge and/or the area where Trexito can stand and still access the stations. I lost track of how many times I snapped at the game because I was pressing the button to put the pizza down and it wouldn't do it. Although, what is incredibly unique about this restaurant management game is stress. I don't remember there ever being a game where stress was taken into consideration AND it has effects. When Trexito became too stressed, he actually slowed down, forcing me to let him sit. THAT was brilliant!
Mushroom Picnic Party WAS ADORABLE! And fun! If you've been here a while, you know I hate puzzle games because I'm not good at them and they make me feel, and look, like an idiot. Not a pleasant feeling. Hidden item puzzles are the only ones that don't make me feel like an idiot. It's a hidden item game, so, if I can't find it, the designer did their job. It's a pleasant game! Mushrooms are a niche not well represented and the developers did well here! I wanted to keep playing! What was, also, incredibly satisfying was being able to choose the theme of the puzzles! More purple, please! It was a pleasant experience! Well done!
Rift of the NecroDancer combining a rhythm game with monster hunting is pretty unique! My first rhythm game was Rock Band and, funnily enough, I'm better at Rift. It probably has something to do with the fact I'm only using a keyboard. My coordination is limited, which Rift helps with. Where the game gets annoying, while being simultaneously brilliant, is the tutorials. Reiterating, I'm a visual learner. So, them showing how the monsters behaved before the tutorial began was BRILLIANT, but how they were to be stopped can use some work. I would suggest telling the player when to press the button during the first few encounters. Look at the section where I was dealing with the knight to see why. And the shield folks. I was following along with the beat as well as I could, but I was still missing. And I was starting to get pissed off. And feel like an idiot. When someone fails a section THAT many times, another tutorial needs to pop up to provide further guidance. Don't change the music. Keep that. My brain would, probably, be replaying the music if I wasn't balancing myself out with YouTube videos while writing this. And don't change the art style, either. Please and thank you.
Overall, I want Doloc Town, Manitas Kitchen, Mushroom Picnic Party, and Rift of the NecroDancer, and they are on my wishlist.
As a reminder, Doloc Town is not available, with a date yet to be announced. Feed the Cups, at the time of writing, is an Early Access Game. Manitas Kitchen is Available. Mushroom Picnic Party's Planned Release Date is Q1 2025. And Rift of the NecroDancer will be Available on Feb 5, 2025, at the time of writing.
And that's it for Part 17! Thank you for reading! If this series of videos is something you're interested in, the videos are available on YouTube, The Titans' Discord, Steam, Rumble, and Odysee!  Don't forget to hit the Subscribe and/or Follow buttons to know when there's more!

My Golf 2022-23 Catch-Up
Tumblr media
[Skunk on the 1st tee box - an omen? Glen Erin]
I received zeros and zeros of messages asking why I didn’t write up a golf blog last year. In lieu of answering that question, I’m just going to combine last year’s golf season with this year’s. The catch will be remembering all that happened just by looking at the scores, but here goes nothing.
Tumblr media
[A disturbing number of geese on the 13th tee box, Majestic Oaks]
My golf game in 2021 featured my best calculated handicap, but the index began creeping up toward the end of the year. That trend continued into 2022 despite starting out with a few decent rounds at Hawk’s View and Grand Geneva; I had six terrible scores in a row in the spring (including a couple triple digit scores), spiking my handicap from 11 to 19. It took me until August to bring it back down to 13.
Tumblr media
[Sandhill Cranes and assorted waterfowl, 6th hole Hawk's View]
My worst round of the year came in mid-September when we decided to take advantage of a coupon for The Bull at Pinehurst Farms. Located near Sheboygan Falls, this course is notorious for being possibly the toughest in the state. If you don’t come with your A game, you’re going to walk away hurting
and I definitely did not have my A game that day. I managed 13 penalties and didn’t card a single par for a score of 113.
Tumblr media
[Oscar's approach shot on hole 17, The Bull at Pinehurst Farms]
My best round of 2022 was just 3 weeks later at Glen Erin in Janesville. It was the first time I’d ever finished 9 holes under par (two birdies, six pars, one bogey), then I scored a 44 on the back nine (which is still pretty good for me as I’ve never scored better than 41 on the back nine at Glen Erin). Shooting a 78 anywhere is impressive but Glen Erin isn’t exactly an easy course.
Tumblr media
[Hole 15, Lake Arrowhead - The Lakes Course]
Another first for me was going on not one but two multi-day out of town golf trips. In late June my golf buddies and I stayed in Wisconsin Rapids and played all 36 holes at Lake Arrowhead on Saturday, then Sunday we drove to the Dells to play Wild Rock. The Lake Arrowhead courses were pretty nice (maybe a little overpriced due to their proximity to the Sand Valley resort), but Wild Rock was instantly my favorite course I’ve ever played. The views, valleys, and challenge made it worth the $100 price.
Tumblr media
[Hole 6, Wild Rock]
In August we went up to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for our 2nd golf trip. Along the way we stopped outside of Green Bay to play a round at Royal St. Patrick’s, where I lost at least 4 balls in the drink. Then we played the two flagship courses at the Island Resort Casino; Sage Run and Sweetgrass. I’d been wanting to play these courses since hearing about them during commercial breaks of Brewers games. Sage Run was the tougher of the two courses, but I loved it almost as much as Wild Rock. Before heading home, we played a round at Timberstone in Iron Mountain. This was another gorgeous course with big elevation changes but more of a northwoods feel. My scores weren’t very good that weekend, but it was a great time at some great courses.
Tumblr media
[Hole 18, Timberstone at Pine Mountain Resort]
I was able to try out 15 courses I hadn’t played before 2022. Aside from the 7 played during those two trips, I played Hayward Golf Club (very nice, but not quite Big Fish), Oshkosh Country Club (nice, but maybe not worth the long drive), Washington County (a very impressive links course; definitely want to go back), Currie Park in Milwaukee (while I was waiting for the dealership to fix my car), The Bull (hopefully never again), and three Illinois courses: Renwood (a fun course I’d play again), Bittersweet (very nice but tougher), and a Thanksgiving weekend round on the north course at Eagle Ridge in Gurnee.
Tumblr media
[Hole 8, the north course at Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa]
For the first time in seven years, I joined a simulator league in the offseason. I was playing twice a week; at Brighton Dale in Kenosha County and the Wisconsin Indoor Golf Center in Waukesha. While it can be rightfully argued that it’s not very realistic, I felt like I was able to tweak a few things in my drives, fairway woods, and even my short game after playing 29 simulated 18 hole rounds over the winter. When March 2023 arrived, I wasn’t rusty at all.
Tumblr media
[Hole 10, Foothills Golf Club]
My golf buddy Oscar talked me into taking a trip to Arizona in March. There we played four rounds: Foothills, Ocotillo, Devil’s Claw at Whirlwind Resort, and Dinosaur Mountain at Gold Canyon (see more pictures of these courses near the end of the blog).  Foothills was nothing to write home about and was overpriced, as Ocotillo was much nicer and cheaper
but it didn’t really feel like Arizona as there were many lakes surrounding the course. Devil’s Claw was very expensive but I enjoyed the course a lot and shot very well. Dinosaur Mountain was also very expensive and I shot like complete trash, but it was the most picturesque course I’d ever played (being that it was on the side of a mountain). I really enjoyed the experience of golfing great courses in early March when there was still snow on the ground in Wisconsin, but the greens fees for the 4 rounds alone totaled nearly $800.
Tumblr media
[Hole 9 & clubhouse, blue course, Ocotillo]
After a few more simulator rounds back home, I hit the ground running with very good scores on Wisconsin courses in April. Late in the month I had a work trip to Las Vegas, where I made time to get in one round at Siena Golf Club (see pictures near the end of the blog). I took advantage of other for-work travel by playing White Deer Run and Pine Meadow in Mundelein IL, Wild Ridge in Eau Claire and Trapper’s Turn in the Dells when I had to make road trips to Minneapolis, and I was invited to play in a company scramble at Irish Waters outside of Green Bay. I also played a Cincinnati municipal course, Glenview, when I was there on vacation meeting up with co-workers.
Tumblr media
[Hole 1, Wild Ridge]
My golf buddies and I once again made trips to Lake Arrowhead and the U.P.  This time after we played 36 at Lake Arrowhead, we played Christmas Mountain in the Dells. It was a pretty fun course at a good price, but we all agreed that it was no Wild Rock. On our way up to Michigan we stopped at Thornberry Creek, the official golf course of the Green Bay Packers. I thought it was great and I’d love to play it again. I carded a terrible round at Sweetgrass the next day, but played Timberstone much better than I did the previous year.
Tumblr media
[Hole 17, Timberstone at Pine Mountain Resort]
Other first-time courses for me this year that I haven’t mentioned: Lakewoods Forest Ridges near Namakagen Lake was very picturesque with big elevation changes. Autumn Ridge near Manitowoc had some good elevation changes as well, and I was very close to an ace on the last par 3 (hit the flag stick on a bounce). I finally played Evansville and Kettle Moraine, neither of which were bad but I really wasn’t impressed. I played the par 3 course Creekview (seen along I-90 north of Edgerton) and it was a typical par 3 nine; great for beginners but I didn’t care for it. Finally, I played a November round at Steeple Chase in Mundelein with Oscar, and that course impressed me. Very well maintained course despite it being very late in the year.
Tumblr media
[Hole 13, Forest Ridges at Lakewoods Resort]
Unlike most years, I kept my handicap fairly level throughout 2023. I was able to get it just under 12 at one point, but it never went much higher than 14. I only had two triple-digit rounds all year, and two rounds under 80. I played fewer 18-hole rounds in 2022 (90) than I did this year (98), and I spent WAY more money on golf rounds this year ($5360) than in 2022 ($3650). That doesn’t include the $850 I spent on the simulators, or the $800+ I spent on club upgrades (Callaway Rouge ST Max driver, 5w, 5h). Not to mention I burn through over 120 balls a year, which likely costs me another $300-400.
Tumblr media
[Jeff lining up his approach shot on hole 18, Sweetgrass]
It was a very expensive year for me, but I may have enjoyed the game more than ever. Consistency is getting better, and I'm no longer afraid to shell out more money for nicer courses. I don't think I will be making another early spring golf trip in 2024, but we are planning another Lake Arrowhead trip as well as a stay at the Gull Lake View Golf Resort near Kalamazoo, MI.

Xbox Q4 revenues flat as hardware drops 13%
Tumblr media
Microsoft reported the 1% increase in its total gaming revenue was lower than expected, with CEO Satya Nadella attributing this to "weakness in first-party and third-party content performance" during an earnings call.
Xbox content and services revenue fared better, growing by 5% thanks to third-party content sales and Xbox Game Pass.
Microsoft reported that this was a record Q4 in terms of monthly active users for Xbox, as well as a record Q4 for Game Pass, where hours played rose by 22%.
However, Xbox console sales enjoyed less success with hardware revenue falling by 13% year-on-year during the three-month period.

ROTTMNT OC - Tina Kurama Part 2
This will be a description of what Tina looks like when she dawns her golden eagle broach with a list of her hobbies. (Again no drawings as I can’t draw)
Tina’s disguised appearance:
Only three things stay the same -- She still looks fat, her hands still look big and strong, and she keeps her brown eyes and scar
Pinkish-red skin color
Thick black eyebrows and a four inch long nose
Eagle claw feet
Long black hair
Big black eagle wings on her back
Tina’s hobbies:
Video games - Mostly RPG that are open world with a few puzzle games and farming simulations
Can play two instruments - The guitar and the koto (the 17 string version), she knows how to play the koto the best since her father likes to hear her play it, but she personally loves playing the guitar
Sculpting is her artistic passion that she is the most serious about
Gardening and Tea making is her second most serious passion
She loves to dance, her favorite type of dance to do is the Bon Odori dance that her father taught her when she was old enough to be steady on her feet.
She likes all music but her main genre is rap music like W.A.P. and Traditional Wadaiko drumming music like Angel Dream
Reading History Books is her third most serious passion, she mostly reads Japanese and Native American History Books
I feel like I’m really starting to know my characters a bit better like this. I should have done this sort of thing a lot sooner. --  @thelaundrybitch @rheawritesforfun @turtle-babe83 @leosgirl82 @mysticboombox @drowninghell @raphielover @raphslovemuffin80 @doctorelleth @post-apocalyptic-daydream @tmntspidergirlv @digitl-art-monstr

Chase Koeneke’s Top 25 DS Games
The DS was a fascinating system. It was the first salvo in Nintendo’s pivot to more innovative and oddball gaming, priming an audience for the Wii console that was about to come. It was easy to laugh at this thing. How the hell were you supposed to pay attention to two screens at once? And yet, developers found interesting new ways of using the dual screens to create a slate of awesome and original titles. I haven’t played every DS game. Hell, I haven’t even played all the ones I’ve wanted to (like The World Ends With You or Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story), but here is a list of my 25 favorite DS games. If you don’t see one of your favorites listed, let me know. I could always use another game to add to my never-ending backlog. 1. Advance Wars: Dual Strike
Tumblr media
I may be president of the Fire Emblem fan club these days, but back in the DS era, it was all Advance Wars, all the time. And Dual Strike represented the peak of the series, even if it may have gotten a little too complex for its own good. The dual front mechanics and new units types felt mostly superfluous, but the online play is what made this game truly special in its day. It’d be great to see Intelligent Systems come back to this series one day.
2. Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
Tumblr media
I love to tinker. I love to grind. I love job systems with lots of unique skills. Dragon Quest IX has all that and much more. While some may not enjoy the blank slate party you’re given, I loved building a completely customized team. The main campaign is extremely meaty (HowLongToBeat clocks it in at 48.5 hours), but the amount of endgame content is truly staggering. With proto-StreetPass and SpotPass functionality, the game felt truly limitless (for comparison, HowLongToBeat says a “completionist” playthrough balloons up to 752 hours!)
3. Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver
Tumblr media
Nostalgia keeps the original Red & Blue as my favorites of the series, but if I’m being honest with myself, these are the best Pokemon games ever made. These remakes smoothed out the few rough edges from Johto and added in the modern functionality from Diamond & Pearl (like the Global Trade System). This double-long Pokemon adventure is one of the best, with expressive new sprite work and a remastered soundtrack.
4. Monster Tale
Tumblr media
Don’t be discouraged if you’ve never heard of Monster Tale. No one has. It came out late in the DS lifecycle (like, five days before the 3DS launched), so it very quickly was buried in the mix. And that’s a shame because it’s one of the best DS games ever made. Developed by the makers of Henry Hatsworth (#19 on my list), Monster Tale makes great use of the two-screen concept, having a Metroidvania brawler on the top screen and a virtual pet simulator on the bottom. The two games worked in tandem as your pet could come up to the top screen to help solve puzzles or battle enemies. An excellent aesthetic and tight controls make this one of the best games you’ve never played.
5. Naruto: Path of the Ninja 2
Tumblr media
Speaking of games you’ve never played, what is a licensed anime game doing in my top five? It’s here because it’s actually a really great RPG. You get access to a large cast of unique characters and arrange them on a 3x4 grid for surprisingly tactical combat. You may rub a hole into your DS’ bottom screen with the game’s poor special attack quick-time events, but if you can get past that, it’s a real gem. I wrote more on this series back in an old GOTG SP if you like what you’ve heard.
6. Mario Kart DS
Tumblr media
This is the best Mario Kart game, don’t let anyone tell you different. No silly gimmicks like two people on a cart or motorcycles or anti-gravity: Just good, tight racing action. A bevy of great new courses (like the incomparable Tick-Tock Clock) and retro tracks (Moo Moo Farm, Choco Mountain, Donut Plains 1) complete the package. There are plenty of other good Mario games, but this one’s the best.
7. Golden Sun: Dark Dawn
Tumblr media
Look, I’d be lying if I said this game was as good as the ones on the Game Boy Advance, but I love Golden Sun with all my heart and this entry does have some cool ideas. Lots of cool characters, some amazing summons and a very useful encyclopedia that can be accessed within the natural dialogue of the story: There’s good stuff here. The graphics may not be great and the game may be too easy, but I enjoyed my time with it, even if I was mostly reminiscing about the GBA games.
8. Final Fantasy III
Tumblr media
I’ve mentioned it on a number of shows and in some of these GOTG posts, but I just don’t enjoy Final Fantasy’s Active Time Battle (ATB) system. I like my RPGs strictly turn-based. And Final Fantasy III is that. While not the strongest game in the series by any stretch, it does have a fairly robust job system that I appreciate, and the updated 3D graphics were great for the time (and led to a beautiful, yet too difficult version of Final Fantasy IV not much later).
9. Picross 3D
Tumblr media
I love Picross. I’ve written about it here before. But Picross 3D changed the game, literally. That extra dimension made for much more interesting puzzle mechanics as you strategically chipped away blocks to reveal the figure within. So charming, so fun and occasionally, so challenging. I’m glad a 3DS sequel was eventually made, but this original is still the one to play.
10. Meteos
Tumblr media
My very first DS game, Meteos immediately showed me how the DS era was going to be different, both in design and input. In this puzzle game, you’d need to skillfully use the touchscreen to line up blocks and bury your opponents while monitoring their progress on the top screen. Each planet you played on had a particular quirk to it, keeping things fresh as you matched and rocketed your way to victory. Extremely fun and a sign of the innovation to come.
11. Animal Crossing: Wild World
Tumblr media
12. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
Tumblr media
13. Chrono Trigger
Tumblr media
14. Metroid Prime Hunters
Tumblr media
15. Retro Game Challenge
Tumblr media
16. Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box
Tumblr media
17. Pokemon Conquest
Tumblr media
18. Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon
Tumblr media
19. Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure
Tumblr media
20. New Super Mario Bros.
Tumblr media
21. Pokemon Black/White
Tumblr media
22. Space Invaders Extreme
Tumblr media
23. Advance Wars Days of Ruin
Tumblr media
24. Kirby: Canvas Curse
Tumblr media
25. WarioWare D.I.Y.

I paid $8 to play farming simulator 17 on the switch and I have -with absolute certainty- gotten my money’s worth out of it (go ahead and laugh, I understand 😭). Definitely not a game I expected to like as much as I did.
It was very confusing to figure out because it barely gives you any tips on what to do and really throws you to the wolves, but once I figured out what to do (financially speaking) it actually became fun and I was able to make some decent money. Now that I own the two largest fields available I get so much yield from crops and my silos can barely hold it all so now it’s going to my pigs. It’s a game I like to play on days I work because it’s easy to set down and come back to later. My gf calls me a nerd for it but it’s well deserved and I ain’t stopping. It’s a game where you need something running in the background because it’s very slow paced and open-ended. I mean it’s a simulator so idk what else you’d expect.
Anyway, I just wanted to ramble about how much I like playing it and how plowing freaking sucks.

Commentary - GTH
My comments on my replay of Ghost of Thornton Hall.
SPOILERS
1. That was a rude awakening.
2. Top three ghost skeptics: Nancy, Frank, Shane Madej.
3. Bess, do NOT do a spit take on Ned's carpet, PLEASE.
4. Not at all cryptic.
5. Thank you, Wade, for yelling at me the first time you meet me.
6. I put so much sugar in my tea.
7. SOMETHING IN THE BACKGROUND MOVED.
8. Ooh, ghost sounds.
9. ("Sometimes it's best to just look... and listen.") Now if that ain't one of the creepiest things I ever heard.
10. Harper reading by her tombstone is one of the most emo things I've heard of and I am here for it.
11. It's locked.
12. I forgot how delightfully horrifying this game is.
13. A fly just flew into the lamp above Colton and it zapped. That scared me more than the weird shadows everywhere.
14. OH SHIT IT'S HER
15. I was not expecting that... it's been too long since I've played this. Too long.
16. I love this game. The depression, the dark past, the aesthetic. I love it.
17. The only person I approve of to play a live action Harper is Helena Bonham Carter.
18. Bess is the only thing not making this the most depressed thing ever. And Harper's sarcasm.
19. This is like that time where Shane Madej was like, "I don't believe in ghosts, but that place is definitely haunted."
20. Ah, yes, a lone Koko Kringle bar. Mine.
21. Foreshadowing...
22. FORESHADOWING...
23. Clara's father is always an uncomfortable topic...
24. This game is VERY unsettling and I love it.
25. Lexie noooo... Colton nooooo...
26. This building reminds of my family farm's old sheep shed that fell down. Yeah, it looks cool, but if you go in there's a chance you might die.
27. Whoo, I got the orange and blue boxes puzzle within the first three minutes. That's never happened before.
28. Of course Harper is climbing into the crypt.
29. I legitimately feel bad for all these characters.
30. AhahhaAh. The ghost.
31. I freaking love Harper.
32. Bess's rant about the Old Fashioned Family stuff.
33. The audio journals are wonderfully creepy.
34. THAT FRICKIN SPIDER
35. ("Girl.")
36. ("Something dark is whispering your name.") I like that quote.
37. The CLOCKS.
38. Okay, Clara is shady. I forgot how shady she is.
39. OH FRICK OH FRICK IT'S HER
40. More foreshadowing...
41. Damn, Harper. I think she's my favorite. Yup. She is.
42. OKAY WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT THING CRAWLING ON THE FLOOR. You know the weird fleshy thing that looks like an overgrown, fat naked mole rat?
43. The freaking tarp moved... aaaaaah.
44. Foreshadowing...
45. The music in the game is absolutely beautiful.
46. The little tune Harper sings to distract Clara sounds like the Lothlorien theme in Lord of the Rings.
47. Hooooooly frick the "HELP ME" on the mantel.
48. FRANK OH NOOO this is after the ALMOST love confession... oh no. Poor Frank.
49. Meanwhile, Joe is hiking, or as Bess says, "It's just walking!"
50. Oh, Bess. Shakespeare is amazing. Respect The Bard. (Though I agree, Hamlet is depressing, Titus Andronicus is by far the worst. You're lucky you didn't see THAT, Bess.)
51. This is so dark, I LOVE IT.
52. Opening the locket... I've never been so nervous about a piece of jewelry my entire life.
53. That safe is overly complicated.
54. Well, this escalated quickly.
55. Damn.
56. Aw. Savannah and Wade.
57. I like Colton and Jessalyn's friendship.
58. Harper deserved better. Charlotte deserved better.
59. *sigh* That was a whirlwind. I forgot how dark this mystery was.
Closing thoughts: This game hits different.
Bonus: The outtakes are freaky... wtf the eyeball... what... is this a simulation of what it's like to be on drugs? ... IT'S THE EYE AGAIN.

Dreams Ive had involving Avatar in no particular order or context.
(This is super long btw)
---------------------------------
11/1/18
I was a na'vi and i was with neytiri and jake at some waterfall. We were Parachuting i guess because we parashuted to the end on the fall and into a lake. There was a barrier at 8 feet so we swam to a car in a parking lot and bille joe Armstrong was there and we drove to a gas station, i woke up.
11/9/18
I was a na'vi. I was jake and neytiri's kid apparently. And tsu'tey was alive and said he was my weird uncle super loud. We were at some seafood restaurant and it was beside the animal kingdom park. These people where being jerks to us and being racist because we were na'vi. There was a tornado for a second then someone yeled that grace was dying so we started running and hopping animal habitat fences and lines while someone was narrating then the girls from despicable me were there. The park was different the floating mountains were still there but it also looked like a mall. Rumpelstiltskin was there and being evil. And something was at stake? I woke up
11/14/18
I was in some warehouse at first then I was at home. Then me and my friends were walking to my grandmas house. I was a na'vi again i think, and they mentioned we were going to go see another na'vi that looked female with a Hispanic accent named Alex i think and that he sold Rick and Morty balloons. My friend said that he wasn't nice and that the last time they saw him he crapped himself? I woke up after that.
11/23/18
I was in some house and there was a guy there he was abusive so I threw a chair at him and my grandma was there. We ran and then we were at some bridge leading to Flight of passage. The bridge was like a rollercoaster because when i crossed it it kept moving. In the ride queue there were Toruk the First Flight performers and it was actually cool. But the actual ride/link area was like a movie theater and it wasn't even flight of passage. It was a 'modern disney character life' simulation movie thing. I woke up from anger.
11/27/18
I was na'vi and i was in this building (our home?) And it was collapsing. Fire was everywhere and when it was destroyed everyone was holding each other and crying.
12/2/18
I was at the store with my mom and my friend was there. I could fly so i picked my friend up and we were on top of the aisle. Some couple was fighting and me and my friend went back to the floor and we ate these heart shaped sugar cookies. Then i heard the song 'Direhorse' and there were Toruk performers there. They were on this stage type thing that sorta went into the ground. I got excited and one of the performers gave me a spear from the Tipani and it was cool. Then i was Booker Baxter and i was telling raven that i could not tell nia that i could fly because she would be sad? I woke up after that.
12/12/18
I was a avatar driver this time. I was with Grace in her avatar and we were in some auditorium type place. We had left on grace's ikran(i guess she had one) and we went to 7-eleven. Grace was looking or was doing something and she had mentioned her old middle school. Some kid was on the roof of the gas pump area and they hung up a couple of laminated song lyrics. Me and grace went back to the auditorium and it was nature-y all of the seats were gone and it was like a outdoor elivated buffet on a waterfall and the roots of this willow tree at the top of the waterfall sorta made seating areas. Me and grace were at a table across from some Korean group from YouTube rewind and jackie chan was there. They all had twins and they were eating cake. One of them gave me a na'vi doll like the ones at Disney. I started eating then i woke up.
12/18/18
I was in some medieval park? And on some sort of field trip. Some couple was mad and calling for someone to come and pick them up. Then something happened and everyone was yelling and causing chaos. The bus/picnic bar thing we drove there had tables full of cake but the benches were gone. Then grace and jake were there and grace told jake that he needed to eat and he said "ok mom" grace smiled and then i woke up.
12/22/18
I was at my school but it had voltrons colors everywhere and I was helping this one kid in a wheel chair get down the stairs but the first time I went down them it didn't work? We went outside and there were busses that were the color of the lions and we had to get on a certain bus. I put the kid on the yellow bus and I got on the black one but it was purple. We drove somewhere shady and then we were in this haunted house above the floor from another dream I had like 2 months before and it was exactly the same except there was this ghost lady robot thing and she was following us and she touched my friends shoulder, and then I was the only person on the ride. Then I was on the floor and there was this mickey mouse stuffed animal puppet thing and it was sorta bouncing in front of me. Then I sorta went Lucid and made the area change to the Tree of Souls from Avatar. I woke up for a second then I was on the side of some highway and I was on a farm in some tribe. Someone shot a arrow through my finger so this nice old lady and her granddaughter broke the arrow and healed me and it reminded me of the Tawkami. Then there was random klance in this old apartment then I woke up again.
12/28/18
I was in a goldfish commercial area under the bed, then i was in a mansion in pixie hollow and the main cast and queen clarion was there. There was a parade sorta and then a buffet with rainbow fruit on pancakes and sugar. I went through some doors and i was home? But it was different. My room was set up like my grandmas and there was some person in there and then i was in the hallway bathroom at my grandmas and some boy was in there. Then I was on a human vacation base on Pandora with some family. I was a avatar driver and there was a field trip group and a class. Music from Toruk was playing and it was the Tipani's theme. Then me and the family went to this cafe type thing and we were beside Na'vi river journey and i could hear the Shaman singing. I got a chocolate cheesecake with whipped cream and when i started eating i woke up.
1/1/19
Sam Worthington was giving me a tutorial on how to draw Jake but the nose was weird.
1/8/19
I was watching this park and jake was there. He was in his human body at first with max and grace in some lab and grace took his phone. Then jake was in his avatar body and he was playing a game with the omyticaya he said something about the color yellow and everyone jumped and laughed. Some amusement park was being shut down then I woke up.
1/17/19
Connie from SU was playing hidden valley but the characters were the diamonds. Then i was in my culinary class and i was talking about someones mom and saying that she was racist. My teacher got mad at me then i was behind a curtain on a stage and this woman was dressed in leather and talking to a crowd. She was with a guy with a cheap looking ikran mask. Then i was at church and it was my school again. Then my friend was there and I fought her and won. Then i was in the office and was getting writen up but mom wasn't. Then i woke up.
1/22/19
James Cameron and Sigorney Weaver were directing Toruk. I was looking for them in the crowd and fangirling. Toruk looked weird with arms instead of wings. Sigorney said hi to me from the technician booth that was beside my chair. Sam Worthington was there and he and sigorney had a scene in the play as their Avatar characters. Jake had accidentally stole a bow and arrow and grace went 'mom mode' and got mad. Then someone had shot a arrow and it hit him in the head but he had protective gear on so he didn't really die. Then i was back home but my living room window showed the stage of the show an sigorney said hi again and i got really happy. Then i opened my dryer and it was full of nickelodian stuff.
2/4/19
Neytiri and jake were role swapped so he was a born Na'vi and she was a dreamwalker. I was a dreamwalker and neytiri's adopted daughter for some reason. We were talking to Quaritch and he was threatening us because he was about to bomb hometree. We convinced him to let us talk to the na'vi and get them out in time. I woke up in my avatar's nivi and jumped to the branch neytiri was on and we went to go find the others.
2/6/19
Hometree was about to be attacked. The RDA was using these weird missiles underwater and flooded Hometree. Avatar Norm was hanging on somewhere near the top of the tree watching toruk fly through a waterfall that formed while saying "come on, where are you" then the water drained and jake and neytiri floated out of the tree base and jake was dressed in his tawtute clothes and Neytiri was a Tessa Thompson look alike in a purple glittery suit and black heels. They started breathing again and jake said something about being relieved.
2/10/19
I was in some field with my Chromebook and on the Avatar website. It was really colorful and pretty. The trailer for the second movie was up but before i could watch it i had to play this mini game. I was Tsu'tey and i was at this river and Mo'at and Eytukan were on a dock on the otherside. This boat had floated towards me and it was full of tools and weapons and Mo'at said I had to find 3 spear heads. I found them and then i was following the river until i was on a dock. I walked to the end of it and i thought i was at the Metkayina clan and i thought i was going to see Bailey Bass' character but i just saw irl her and a bunch of tawtute. Apparently it was a human village and i was the only Na'vi there. I got scared i think and ran. Then some characters from bunkd were there and Mateo was embarrassed about something so he left and was making his own camp when destiny took a tarp/map and gave it to him so he could make a tent. And the camp was by a cornfield.
3/24/19
I was watching Toruk live and i was onstage. Entu, Ralu, and Tsyal were there. The left part of the Hometree stage was deflated. It was really colorful. The tipani spears were on the center stage area. The omiticaya were harvesting something (maybe fruit)from the still standing part of the Hometree and music was playing but it wasn't from the show's soundtrack. Then there was water and something happened and i was in my room and mom told me to wake up. Then my alarm clock wole me up irl.
4/17/19
Jake and neytiri were hunting a angsĂŹk. Tsu'tey and two other hunters were there. One was Na'vi and one was Polynesian. Jake had went to do his plan and Tsu'tey told neytiri it would not work. But they heard something and when they turned around jake was covered in mud and three angstĂŹk were dead. Tsu'tey said that he was surprised and neytiri was dragging jake to a river to make him clean the mud off.
4/25/19
Backstage of Toruk. Friends with Tsyal and the TsahĂŹk. Cannibal Hotel.
4/27/19
Broke into some guys house with me grandma. Backstage performing TORUK at school on stage. Changed from Tipani to Omiticaya. Found a green chest cover.
5/22/19
I was in ponyville looking for fluttershy's house then i was on the street that connected mine and my Grandma. It was a part of a dream i had before. A pallulukan was there and my grandma kept talking and it almost heard us. Then Neytiri was there and looking for a kid version of Peyral who was hiding in the house we were beside. It was raining so we went in then suddenly Neytiri was dressed as Tsyal.
6/13/19
I was taking a bath and washing the dishes at the same time. Then I was a Na'vi again and we were preparing to fight the RDA. Except we were hiding in my grandads basement/garage and it was huge. There were 2 separate sleeping areas with over 100 bunk-beds in each area and a cafeteria. It was like the Avatar long house but bigger. Norm was there and he was my uncle and he was in his avatar body. The other clans started arriving and going to find beds and get food. I was embarrassed about something. Neytiri was a human/avatar and toruk makto and my mom again in this dream. She was coming back from somewhere but I woke up before seeing her.
7/8/19
I met James Cameron and talked to him about how much I love Avatar and how many times I watched it this year. And at some point Ralu and Entu were involved.
7/14/19
I was selling newspapers at a grocery store when someone made fanart, and a fanvideo of Asal (my avatar oc). But they shipped her with Entu. But I still left a like because it was nice.
8/2/19
I was in the AVATAR program but everything looked different. The technology looked more alien than human. The sleeping areas were just these bunks cut into walls with glass doors so there was no privacy or quiet because they were in a busy hallway. The base was confusing to walk through. Everything looked the same. The link room was smaller and had three link chambers. But they looked different and were glowing orange and black, or purple. Only jake could link completely. Mine and Norm's wouldn't work. Until mine did after a few tries. I could feel my tail move but then I was put back in my human body. We didn't go outside. Then I was in Neytiri's body and i was flying around the Pandora theme park. I was flying around the floating mountains before I was in the line for flight of passage with my friend. The line queue had a Quaritch robot talking about something and part of the millenial falcon in it. We got on the ride and the chairs were like a movie theater and the screen mention a patronus bracelet. Then I woke up and it felt like I was unlinking.
8/10/19
I was in the school and I had to use magic to change a sink full of water into Vodka but I turned it into champagne. I was being graded on it and I got a B. Then I was on a alien planet with two other people. We were found and brought to a base that was playing Christian Horror movies as a joke. We were taken to a back room were they gave us Toruk makeovers. I had started to put the suit on and and had just started to paint my face when I woke up.

The Mobile Game Trend
Lately, mobile gambling has become a fairly large share concerning earnings. Gambling consoles/platforms and internet gaming giants have mastered the sports industry for the past decades, but with the tremendous mobile gambling insurgents, the shift is coming, and the shift is welcome, particularly for enthusiastic players and fans.
Mobile games revenue prediction is predicted to grow around $45 billion in 2018. Asia has become the pioneer in the market as 2013 and can be called to control the business by around 50% overall earnings. Business Analyst Vincent van Deelen said, "That is not really the situation. We're also highlighting that the current outcomes of human high profile companies, including Rovio, King, DeNA, and also GREE, aren't always indicative of the condition of the cell marketplace as a whole. It's not in our attention to split market amounts. However, the hard truth is forced us to adjust our estimates up. We've preserved our year-on-year expansion speeds toward 2017, finally resulting in a 40Bn+ market share."
In this aspect, cellular game players have gained substantial share in the marketplace, just like a most gaming console and online gaming businesses. Really, this can be fantastic news for sport development companies and their investors to place more attention and focus on this developing trend. Android games will also be anticipated to be higher in the next several years. Though, it's still an established actuality that iOS rakes in more revenue than Google Play even though the latter using enormous download for freemium version kind of matches that can be downloaded free from https://gameloop.live/. However, from a worldwide standpoint, Chinese program shops and android game downloads and earnings far exceeded iOS past 2014. North America, Europe, and other Asian nations, for example, Japan and South Korea, also have ventured into the worldwide trend. Reports reveal that cellular games currently account for almost 40 percent of the nation's total digital games earnings. With greater competition, smaller businesses are also becoming creative with the debut of e-sports, multi-screen gambling, and HTML5 mobile gambling, and also, the last trend is the increasing prevalence of downloading Android games to TV-based gambling. The top 7 companies in the mobile gaming sector compete for the launch of game titles to control further and not have left in the spectacle. These are a few of the most downloaded sports programs:

Pride Month Recommendations- Days 9-18
No, I didn’t forget this! I just haven’t had the strength to do long-ass posts of this nature. Hopefully, things will be better when I switch shifts at the end of the month.
Anyway, I’m going to go through my Steam Library for this list...
9. Angels with Scaly Wings by Radical Phi is a dating sim/mystery/sci-fi game where you can romance a dragon. As you can probably imagine, it is an ideal game for me. You are an ambassador from a dying Earth who has been sent through a portal to a world populated by sentient dragons. There, you uncover a series of murders and get close to certain dragons while trying to save their world and yours. The characters are very in-depth with largely tragic backstories. Get ready for some feels. Your character is referred to by they/them pronouns, leaving their gender open to your interpretation. You can develop a relationship with all five dragons, regardless. It’s a wonderful game with great worldbuilding and incredible characters!
10. Coming Out on Top by Obscurasoft is a game that I willingly purchased TWICE. The first time was when it was still in development, which I almost never do. Even when it was incomplete, I got an amazing experience from it! When I lost access to my old email and the game came out on Steam, I bought the completed version. The premise is simple in theory: You are a college senior who has just come out as gay, and can romance one of several guys over the course of the game. What makes this game stand out is the likeable characters, the zany settings you can find yourself in, and the hilarious dialogue! Each romance is unique, and even the non-romanceable side characters are memorable. It has good sex scenes, if that’s what you’re into, and you can even customize things like facial hair on your character and the bachelors. There are even mini-dates you can go on if you don’t feel like playing a whole route. This game has it all, and you can easily get several hours of gameplay out of it. I mean, did I mention that I willingly paid for it TWICE?
11. Dragon Age: Origins by Bioware was a gamechanger for me, literally, as it heightened my standards when it came to games in general. To this day, it remains on my top five list of greatest games of all time. You play as a character who eventually becomes a Grey Warden, whose purpose is to defeat creatures known as Darkspawn and stop a Blight that is descending upon your homeland. How you go about that fight, who you choose as allies, and your overall actions in the world are up to you. You can play out one of several backstories for your character, customize your class, and, of course, romance one of four characters. Two of the romanceable characters, Leliana and Zevran, are bisexual. In later games, you get even more romance options, but I feel that Origins is the best game overall. I could play it again and again, and have done so several times. Also, it’s on Steam, which means you can buy it and all DLCs without dealing with the annoying Origin platform.
12. Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator by Game Grumps has been talked about so much, I almost feel like I don’t need to. I will anyway. It’s a game where you play as a single dad who moves into an area that, conveniently, also has a bunch of single dads. As the title suggests, you get to date the dads you meet over the course of the game. This game is awesome because, among other aspects, it’s super inclusive. You can decide whether your dadsona is trans or not, whether your daughter is adopted, whether your previous spouse was a man or woman... The characters themselves are wonderfully-developed and three-dimensional. There are also many Dad Jokes. Also, Damian is best dad.
13. Gone Home by Fullbright is another game that is often talked about in LGBTQ circles. It’s an exploration game where you return home to an empty house and learn by going through different rooms, reading letters, and finding items, the story of your character’s family, particularly your sister. I love games that force you to explore and work for the whole storyline, because it feels so much more fulfilling when it all plays out. Gone Home does this brilliantly! I will say that it’s a short game for the price, so I’d recommend waiting for a sale.
14. Life is Strange by DONTNOD Entertainment is one of the greatest games I have ever played, period. I will never be able to say enough good things about it. You play as Max Caulfield, a photographer who has recently moved back to her hometown to attend the prestigious Blackwell Academy. There, she reunites with her estranged best friend, Chloe Price, falls into a mystery surrounding a missing student, and learns that she has the ability to rewind time. It’s a game where choices in the first episode will impact what happens in the fifth. All of the characters are memorable. You will absolutely fall in love with Arcadia Bay and get sucked into the mystery surrounding it. I played this game over the course of three days when I first bought it, because I just couldn’t stop. It remains one of the most emotional experiences I’ve ever had. As for LGBTQ aspects, both Max and Chloe are bisexual, and you can play Max as having feelings for Chloe and/or her friend Warren.
15. miraclr- Divine Dating Sim by Woodsy Studio is a fun little game about falling in love with an angel via group chat. Your character has been chosen to communicate with the seraphim (and Lucifer) concerning the implementation of the first miracle Earth has seen in ages. Most of the game involves chatting with the angels, deciding on a miracle, and entering private group chats to develop your relationship with the angels. You get to choose your pronouns, and Gabriel goes by they/them pronouns. I’ve only played one route, but it was pretty cute! The one annoying aspect is the fact that it’s modeled after a mobile game and sets chats for certain times. You can easily bypass that, however, by choosing to power through or rewind.
16. Nekojishi by Team Nekojishi is...a mixed bag, if I’m going to be honest. The likeability of the characters fluctuates a lot, and the True Ending had A LOT of issues for me. Still, I played the thing for nine whole hours! It’s a game about Liao, a college student and aspiring dancer whose third eye is suddenly opened, giving him the ability to see gods and spirits. Among these spirits are Guardian Tiger, a family guardian spirit who wants Liao to return to his family’s temple and use his abilities there, Clouded Leopard, who wants Liao to become a go-between for him and his worshipers, and Leopard Cat, who has possessed one of Liao’s classmates in order to convince him to create a temple for an earth god he’s connected to. Obviously, Liao isn’t so keen to abandon his own life in order to fulfill any of these wishes, but the spirits decide to remain by his side until he makes a choice. You can romance one or all of the characters, leading to different endings which, again, vary in quality. Still, the art and music are great, there are many tidbits on Taiwanese folklore, and it’s free! If you’re into gay beastmen and folklore, this is a good game to check out.
17. Night in the Woods by Infinite Fall is another game that played with my emotions. Like, it got so real, I needed to take frequent breaks during my first playthrough. You play as Mae Borowski, a college dropout returning to her hometown for reasons unknown to the player for most of the game. Falling into her former, aimless life, Mae reconnects with her friends while learning of the darker secrets of Possum Springs. Mae is pansexual, and two of her friends, Gregg and Angus, are in a relationship that is further explored if you choose to get closer to Gregg over the course of the game. This game delves into heavy subjects like depression, helplessness, the slow death of a town, and growing apart from the people you once knew.
18. I’m ending this list with a game everyone should know about: Stardew Valley by Concerned Ape. This is the peak of all farming simulation games! You play as a character who inherits a farm from their grandfather and moves there to escape their meaningless office job. Once there, you can develop your farm, fight monsters, explore, and befriend the townsfolk. Whether you play as a male or female, the romance options are all open. You can marry, have kids, and raise a family together. All of the characters have great events, but my favorite has to be my goth boi Sebastian.
Phew... Remind me not to let this go for nine days again. That took awhile... Anyway, I hope you find something you like. See you tomorrow!
