OH MY GOD, OIKAWA WOULD 💯 SLUT SHAME READER FOR WEARING A SKIRT OR SOMETHING SHORT.
Like he doesn’t care that it’s the uniform
He would!!! But like... he doesn't actually believe in it, especially if he's a platonic yandere. He's only saying it to "tease" you or bug you like most brothers do. He'd never compliment you if you ever looking nice, or if he did, it'd be a backhanded compliment. Something like- "that's a nice dress. Too bad you need to wear heels to compensate for your height! Haha, have fun!"
I can see the yandere fan girls actually dressing you up in one of the cute skirts and doing a proper "girly girl" look on you because you mentioned that you were gonna go out on a date (that Oikawa doesn't know about yet and you made the fan girls promise not to tell him because you wanted to see how things would go. In exchange for singing their praises to Oikawa of course, no good deed is free). And maybe they wanted to show you off to Oikawa, let him be impressed by how they take care of you.
They drag you to the gymnasium where he's practicing with the team.
"Tooru-chan!" They call it to him, while you're standing there, arms linked with theirs so that you can't run off.
Oikawa turns towards you, eyes widening ever so slightly at your appearance. You looked beautiful, absolutely adorable.
He walks closer, the fan girls are bubbling in excitement, you are shifting from one foot to another, nervous under his eyes that never leave yours.
"We dressed Y/n up!" One of the girls said cheerfully. "Do you like it?"
Did we a good job, Tooru? They all wondered silently.
Oikawa smiled, and the girls automatically matched his expression, only to turn to confusion as he suddenly began laughing, belly aching, thigh slapping laugh.
He was laughing at you.
"W-what the hell are you wearing!" He said between his laughs, gasping for air.
"I-" you were at a loss for words, immeadiately turning red at his reaction. Did you look bad?
He stopped laughing, slowing down to chuckles as he wiped the tears from his eyes. "Heh, what in the world were you thinking? You looked like someone puked pink on you." He pointed to your skirt and snorted. "And why would you wear a skirt? What are you trying to show off? Your square buff calves? And heels? Wow, I did not know you had chubby ankles." Your eyes welled up with tears, threatening to spill. And the fan girls could sense your humiliation, so they tried to intervene.
The leader of the fan club spoke up. "Tooru, stop joking around. She looks beautiful and you-"
"Was I taking to you?" He cut her off swiftly, glaring at her.
Oikawa walked closer to you until he was right in front of you. He bended his knees a little so he could be face to face with you. His eyes bore into your teary ones and Oikawa didn't smile as his thumb came up to smear the gloss off your lips.
"Pink gloss? Really? You look like an idiot. Change. Now." That was all it took for your tears to start falling as you ran out of the gymnasium.
Oikawa only stared at the gymnasium door that you had just ran out of, as he spoke to fan girls, but to no one in particular.
"Never dress her up like that again. She looked like a slut." He didn't need to say "or else", his fans already knew of the deadly consequences. As he returned to his practice, the girls left the gymnasium, some went to console you, while others went to their room to silently ponder upon your outfit that Oikawa deemed "slutty".
Especially because all of them dressed up like that.
So was it okay for them to look "slutty"? Or did Oikawa not like their style too?
While they went over a existential crisis over their wardrobe, Oikawa was being scolded by Iwazumi for what he said to you. Oikawa didn't bother explaining himself, because he knew what he did was right.
You did not look slutty, but if you showed your skin like that, other guys will get the wrong idea. He knows "locker room talk" the guys have, what they reduce girls to. And he'd rather you he single and insecure by his side eh were he can protect you, than look available and be hurt and heartbroken a million times worse by some scum bag, all while you're away from him.
Tumblr media
What Oikawa didn't see was you leaving the house dressed in your comfy clothes (the girls made you change into the sweats that Oikawa had gotten for you, still trying to win his favour) and meeting your date, who proceded to hang his jacket around you when the wind picked up.
The jacket had his name on it.
USHIMJIMA.
Wonder what would cause Oikawa to have an aneurysm first? The Shiratorizawa jacket that engulfs your body? The picture of you dating his arch nemesis? Or the way Ushijima who towers over you, bends down to kiss you?
My money is on "Ushijima is now a yandere for you and you're the first and last girl he'll ever date and Oikawa will have to pry you from his cold dead arms before he'll let you go."

Different Friend Types HC's Pt. 1
I wanted to do some platonic friendship hc's so I picked characters that fit certain types of friends. ^-^
💚 The Doting Parent – Makoto Tachibana (Free!)
Makoto is totally the type to fuss and care for you much like a doting parent regardless of how competent you are. He’s always looking out for you and wants to make sure you’re doing well.
If you’re not very good at taking care of yourself, Makoto will step in and help. He already has some experience with his own siblings and Haruka after all, what's one more? He’ll make sure you’re on time for whatever you have to do, he’ll kindly fuss and try to get you to go outside if you don’t get out enough, make sure you're not skipping meals, drinking enough liquids, keep you on task and help you with anything you need to get done. If you’re feeling down or upset about anything, he’s right there with a kind smile and asking what you need from him.
Makoto gets embarrassed if you try to take care of him and if he's unable to take care of himself for whatever reason, he'll constantly apologize for it because he doesn't want to inconvenience you. But when he's able, he'll definitely either get you a thank you gift or return that care two fold. It's not often anybody takes care of him so he appreciates it greatly and will let you know that.
If you're the type to become a dual parent friend with Makoto, you two are gonna be quite the pair. Sometimes you'll both become almost overwhelmed with how much you two take on to help your friends, but you two will always be in sync catching wherever the other falls short. It's a lot of work for sure but you guys easily become an essential core to your friend group and really make it feel like a family. Outside of your friend group though, you and Makoto definitely at least take one day every week to do a spa day or have a chill lazy hangout day together to refresh yourselves.
"Hey, how've you been? Are you eating and drinking enough? How's your sleep? Ah don't call me mom, I just want to make sure you're ok, you know...?"
☀️ Your #1 Fan – Mirio Togata (BNHA)
Mirio is the best cheerleader you’ll ever have in your corner. He's all about bringing out people's greatest potential and any buddy of his is guaranteed to feel supported and self-assured.
Even though Mirio's an overall high energy optimist, he understands that everybody can have different preferences for what they want in encouragement. He also understands that sometimes people just need general support and he's more than willing to provide just that. He'll never push you to do anything you don't want to do or force optimism on you. He just wants you to know he's got your back.
Mirio’s favorite kind of motivation is to hype people up! Compliments and praises left and right, motivational talks all over the place if needed, he’ll make sure you won’t leave without at least some upgrade in your confidence. He’ll even chant his encouragement to you with enough energy for a whole crowd. He believes in you 1000% even if you don’t, and by no means do mistakes or failures mean you’re any less of an amazing person in his eyes because it's all part of the process of progress. You're trying and that's what really matters!
If you’re one of those people that aren’t quite that high energy and have trouble with motivation, he’s got you. He’ll listen to what troubles you and gives calmer words of encouragement. If you need help with doing things that are too overwhelming for you, he’s ready to assist in any way he can to make it easier. If you need a little push to do something that scares you, he’s there to be your safety net and express how proud he is that you had the courage to try. If you feel like you can’t do anything because life is just too hard, he’ll tell you that that’s ok. He’s proud of you for trying to push through because it takes a lot of strength to endure what you’re going through. If you ever need anything, he’ll always be there for you.
“There’s my awesome buddy! How’s being the best person in the world going for ya? Nah it’s not an exaggeration, it’s the truth! Honest!”
💀 Partner in Crime – Guzma (Pokémon)
Guzma’s that type of friend that’s fun to get in trouble with and may or may not be a bad influence on you. Parents hate him lol.
Despite Guzma’s delinquent ways he has a moral compass in there. He wouldn’t go as far as to do anything truly heinous, he’s just here to let loose and have fun. His kind of misfit fun is pranking people (especially assholes), maybe a little vandalizing and stealing things from said assholes, graffiti, trespassing to explore abandoned places, hitting up underground parties or clubs, etc. If there’s anything you haven’t tried that you weren’t sure about or didn’t want to do alone, he’s totally down for it. If anything, he might be the safest person to have around for whatever it is because he always makes sure to look out for you when you guys get up to stuff.
Guzma would never snitch on you for anything, momma didn’t raise no snitch. You won’t realize it until he does this or if you guys start playing with hypotheticals, but Guzma will give himself up or take the blame to protect you if needed. He’s aware that the way he lives isn’t a good lifestyle and he’ll partially blame himself for letting you almost get in trouble. But it hardly gets up to that point because he’s pretty good at getting you guys out of trouble whether it be through clever street smarts or intimidation. Also you know, he's got a whole gang/family to back him up and by extension back you up.
FOR LEGAL REASONS, I DO NOT CONDONE THIS AND IT’S A JOKE-: Assuming you and Guzma are thick as thieves, he’d help you get away with murder. There will be no questions. The less he knows, the better, but you're gonna be handling the majority of taking care of the body. He'll put up with a lot, but the dead gives him the jeebies.
“You and me? We're like chaos and destruction in human form. The world's gonna be shakin' at the mention of us, just you wait!”
😏 Are Y'all Dating or...? (The Bestie) – Oikawa Tooru (HQ)
Oikawa’s that type of friend to be so close with you that people wonder and ask if you two are dating. The answer is always no…uNLESS…!!
Oikawa wants to do ALL the things with you and you two never truly get tired of each other. There will be many sleepovers, shopping trips, gossip, spa days, trying new things together, road trips. Each of your families and friends will be well acquainted with you two to the point that it’s almost annoying how much you two bring each other up to people. His other good friend Iwa-chan is kind of relieved at first that there’s someone else to take on Oikawa’s antics, but soon realizes that it’s become double trouble for him as a result.
For Oikawa it’s like he’s found his platonic soulmate and he couldn’t imagine his life without you. Which is why he’s also pretty protective of you and becomes suspicious of any newcomers, though he knows how to respect your boundaries and let you live your life how you want. If you have a crush that he gets good enough vibes from, he will hype you up and try to figure out a plan to help you two get together. If anyone hurts you, he will get them back for it in a crafty yet subtle way that will simultaneously make it obvious to only that person that he’s the source of their torment.
At first people thought you guys were like siblings but with the amount of joking you guys do about cuddling and how excessively you compliment each other, people’s perceptions quickly turned. Some people might even want you two to get together, but you guys aren’t into each other like that. You’re both just platonically comfortable and close enough to make those kinds of jokes and find it amusing that people even think you two are romantically involved.
“Bestie!! I found this new café that just opened up, we gotta go try it! And tell me all about this new person you’ve got your eye on~”
👿😈The Chaotic Gremlin(s) – Denji & Power (CSM)
Denji and Power are about the same type of gremlin with slightly different quirks and might as well be a packaged deal, so here we are.
What could go wrong with these two? Literally everything. If you choose to hang out with these two you know exactly what you signed up for. You’re going to constantly get in trouble with them for destroying large amounts of property. You will be dragged into devil fights and often become the damsel in distress if you don’t have a way to protect yourself, but at least these two will literally rip the devil to shreds or be ripped to shreds to protect you. While this is nice, you’ll more than likely end up with broken bones anyways because Denji accidentally drops you from a considerable height or Power flings you out of the way without considering what the impact could do to you, much less looking where she flings you. You better be durable.
Denji and Power are constantly bickering and since you’re a third addition to this now group, they’re gonna fight over you. They come up with strange and nonsensical ways to compete in spending time with you or even just getting your attention. You’ve basically become the older sibling that the younger siblings will do anything to gain your favor and praises. Whether you use this to your advantage or not is up to you, but I have a sneaking suspicion you get these two into trouble in doing so and quickly make your escape before they can blame you for it.
On a more wholesome side of things, Denji and Power would be like a brother and sister for you. If they do anything they find personally impressive, they want you to witness it and praise them. As mentioned before they always want to win you over: Denji trying to be genuinely considerate of you and make you laugh while Power will sabotage him and even go as far as to cause trouble on purpose and accuse him of being the culprit. They’re basically your feral guard dogs, so if anybody ever harasses you these two will be threatening them with things worse than death. Whenever they want to play games or go out, you’re always dragged along. Sure their constant quarreling and grapple for your attention can get annoying, but that comes with the territory and you wouldn't have it any other way with these dummies.
Power: “The great Power demands your presence! Let’s go. Leave stinky Denji.” Denji: “Hey no fair, it’s my turn to hang out with them! And you stink worse!!”

what it is
summary: Oikawa x Reader. he makes it out of the friendzone (with some help)
word count: 1.3k
cw: nothing, oikawa in glasses
a/n: i wrote this in under an hour while heavily caffeinated?;!;!4& brain melting
“You’re late,” you say with a grin. Oikawa Tooru pouts at you, his team jacket folded over his arms. He’s already changed out of uniform, you notice; must have exchanged it for a white t-shirt and slacks in the locker room.
“I was swarmed,” he claims as the two of you start to walk together. You roll your eyes and don’t even bother making a jab about his popularity with the girls (and people of all genders, really). At this point, you’ve accepted that deranged fans come with the territory of being friends with the volleyball team captain.
You met Oikawa on the first day of your first year at Aoba Johsai and had been friends ever since. Even though you had no interest in the sport at first, his love for volleyball was infectious. He had even roped you into being the team’s manager. You still weren’t sure how he had pulled that off, but you didn’t mind too much—you’d grown to love the team and the sport too, in your own way.
Despite your closeness, you’d never really understood why he had a fan club, especially as a teenage school athlete. You expected his popularity to grow when (not if) he went professional, but the idea of swooning over some guy you had pre-calculus classes with was totally foreign to you. It was a running joke among your friends that you were immune to Oikawa’s looks and charming magnetism (and, honestly, to all four of the team’s upperclassmen. You could acknowledge how objectively attractive they all were even though none of them seemed to fit your niche).
Sometimes, you caught Oikawa making strange expressions while your friends teased you about not liking him. It felt like you were the only one who noticed these kinds of things, sometimes. You really liked being able to read him so easily: both of you had saved each other under the contact name “Platonic Soulmate” in your phones.
You chalked up the weird faces to your friend’s first-rate ego, and even though you knew that the notion of one person not being desperately in love with him wouldn’t scratch the surface of his self-esteem, you always found yourself taking his hand surreptitiously or leaning your head on his shoulder when you did see him looking mopey. He always perked up, after that, and all would be sunshine again.
Today, everyone else had bailed on you when you suggested a joint ice-cream-and-study-date before next week’s exams. Iwaizumi had claimed that Oikawa was too loud and always distracted him, so he couldn’t seriously try to study together. Matsukawa had to babysit and refused to bring the brats, as he affectionately called his siblings, to get sweets. Hanamaki had just quirked his eyebrows at you and said, “I don’t feel like third wheeling. Thanks, but no thanks.”
You hadn’t really understood what he meant, but you hadn’t questioned it.
Oikawa had almost begged off to do some solo practice, too, but you’d made a fuss about nearing the end of your high school experience and worrying that you would fall out of touch when volleyball became his whole life (even moreso than it was now!), and he’d caved with an overdramatic sigh and a soft look that told you he wasn’t all that mad about your guilt-tripping.
You’re broken from your thoughts when you reach the ice-cream shop, Oikawa jabbering in your ear about some drama you can’t keep up with.
“And then she told me—ah, I can’t read the menu. You know, they were late refilling my contact prescription this month, so I’ve been carrying around my glasses, I hate it. So unflattering.”
You worry your lip as you stare at the flavor chart, barely listening to him talk.
“I’m sure it’s,” you start, turning to him as he slides the case out of his pocket and puts the frames on his face in a smooth motion. “Um.”
The glasses are not unflattering, you think dumbly, staring at him, your sentence hanging unfinished. The glasses perch on his nose perfectly, making you appreciate, for the first time, the shape of his nose and his cheekbones. Had they always been that sharp? And since when had his eyes been so pretty, reflecting the sunlight in so many shades, framed with long eyelashes that would have made you jealous if you weren’t so—
You reach out and lift the glasses off his face slowly, hoping that the old, familiar features that you’d never felt anything but friendship-friendly feelings towards would return. You can still see it, though: the divot of his Cupid’s bow is appealing, now, his smooth skin glowing to you, his surprised expression fucking adorable. You drop the frames back onto his nose.
Very abruptly, whatever immunity you once had to Oikawa’s looks is demolished in one fell swoop.
“I have to go have a midlife crisis,” you say decisively, and march out of the shop.
“Hey! What—where are you going? You’re not even middle-aged?” Oikawa calls after you, and you try steadfastly to ignore him, but every sense seems to have been awakened to your friend. Your face flushes, and you start walking faster, nearing the pace of a jog even though your limbs are stiff.
You finally pull over in a quieter, slightly more secluded spot between two buildings. You lean against the wall, closing your eyes, trying to remind yourself to take deep breaths.
“Are you okay?” Oikawa says, and you curse his long, athlete legs for having followed you so swiftly. “What’s wrong?”
You open your eyes. He’s still wearing the fucking glasses. Rest in peace, you think to yourself, surely my heart is going to give up soon, at the rate it’s going. Your lips part, but you can’t seem to get the words out. His worried gaze studies you until he finds something—exactly whatever you didn’t want him to see. A slow smile unfurls over his face, and you narrow your eyes. Ugh, how dare his smugness be attractive too, now?
“I should wear the glasses more often, huh?” He says, and you shake your head no frantically.
“Please don’t,” you say. “It’s, like, it doesn’t even matter anymore, anyway, I can’t unsee it now.”
“Unsee what?” He cocks his head, and he’s getting closer, and there’s nowhere to back away from him because you’re up against a wall—
“You’re hot!” You wail. “I saw it and I’m never gonna stop thinking it now, it doesn’t even matter what you wear, I’m doomed! This is the worst thing ever, ‘Kawa, how’m I supposed to go on… I can’t be your friend and a part of your fan club. I don’t think I can even be a part of your fan club ‘cause I don’t just think you’re hot, I think I have a crush on you—oh, my God, I have a c—”
Your increasingly frantic rambling is cut off by Oikawa sealing his lips to yours. The kiss is quick and sweet, and when he pulls away he still looks so, so handsome, and so concerned.
“Please breathe,” he says, and you nod, gaping at him in shock. “I like you too, okay? Please stop having a crisis.
“Okay,” you exhale, bracing your hands on his shoulders. “Okay. I’m still freaking out, though. I think the only way to stop it is to keep kissing me.”
Oikawa heaves a big, overdramatic sigh, and leans in, his glasses bumping your face; giving in to you, just like he always does.

Stormy Weather | Iwaizumi Hajime x Fem! Reader
Part 1/1                  Word Count:  5,380                      hq!! ML
Relationships: Iwaizumi Hajime x Reader. Hanamaki Takahiro x Reader, Matsukawa Issei x Reader, Oikawa Tooru x Reader (all platonic), Seijoh Boys's Volleyball Club
angst, fluff, comedy (me trying to write funny stuff for funsies)
tw: swearing (not as much. I think.), brief suicide mention (just one time like in passing).
Iwaizumi Hajime is on his way to school. He’s way more than early and has plenty of time to get to morning practice but he takes quick strides under the morning twilight, slightly chilly breeze brushing upon his cheeks making them rosy, and he buries his face in the collar of his jacket.
It’s honestly way too early for some. Exclusively for you, since you aren't a morning person at all. When he makes it to Aoba Johsai grounds and the gymnasium comes into view he thinks you might’ve slept over the early morning and are finally coming to school later like you actually should do. He sighs in relief. His fellow third year and team captain, Oikawa, notices him and greets him animatedly. A couple of the others are already inside too. Some of his teammates remind him of you. They are still sleepy, Makki yawning while he starts stretching and he swears Kunimi still has the outline of his bedsheets stamped on his face. Kyōtani is grumpy - well, he mostly looks like that so it is hard to tell the cause sometimes. -  and his friend Mattsun also looks like he would appreciate a couple more hours of slumber.
“Ah, there she is.” He hears the dreaded words and tenses. Oikawa near him tries to hide his amusement and he hears a few snickers around.
“HAJIMEEE!” he turns slightly and spots you sprinting towards him (you threw your bookbag somewhere along the run and it lands with a loud thump! near a wall of the gym and a few cracks are heard from the contents inside. That bookbag has had a rough life.) Iwaizumi braces himself as you jump on his back happily and he’s quick to hold you, carrying you piggyback style, arms under your thighs as you wrap your arms around his shoulders and hug him. “Good morning!” You kiss his red dusted cheeks due to all the attention you’re getting on the both of you and your actions. “Morning, guys!”
There’s a chorus of the guys replying to you. They’re always entertained with the situation. The volleyball club doesn't have a manager (officially, at least) but you basically occupy the position dropping by every morning and sometimes in the afternoon too when you were free. Some fans of the team would drop by too but mostly just in the afternoons. So in that way, they’ve grown used to these interactions. They’ve warmed up to you as a person too and are grateful for your help and support. Even if it might be all because of your love for the ace.
“You’ve got to stop coming here this early.” Iwaizumi entertains himself by looking up at the ceiling, hoisting you up a little as you begin to slip down, not a bit uncomfortable by your weight. Then he catches on to what he’s doing and helps you get off him. You’re standing in front of him in a second.
“But it makes me happy to come see you.” You pout. You’re oblivious of how some of the other boys whine wishing they had a girl be as happy as you to see them. “Aren’t you happy to see me too?”
“It’s- It’s alright.” Iwaizumi is still flustered, then continues to reprimand you. “And you shouldn’t be calling me Hajime, or kissing me.” Even if it doesn’t feel wrong.
“Right. I’m sorry.” you look down, biting your lip, fidgeting with your hands behind your back. “Sorry, Iwaizumi.” He nods, but he’s already frustrated knowing you’ll most likely forget about it by later.
Still, you don’t let his rejection keep your mood down for long, “I’ll get my things and get started around here.”  You say with another bright smile, and return your steps to retrieve your forsaken, beaten up bag.
“You’re so mean, Iwa-chan”, Oikawa told him later on during practice. “Honestly, you should be grateful a girl is interested in you. I know I tend to steal the spotlight.” That earns the captain a smack to the back of his head and glares from a couple of the others near him.
“I appreciate it, but I don’t like her that way.” Iwaizumi answers uncomfortably, stealing a glance at you as you watch his fellow teammates do their drills.
“Have you tried telling her that?” Mattsun joins the conversation.
“Yes. But I feel bad and end up giving in to whatever she’s on about at the moment.” He scratches the back of his neck and grimaces. “Also, isn’t it obvious?”
“Maybe not to her. Love is blind and all that shit.” Makki adds.
“You should tell her upfront and stop leading her on. It’s going to be worse for her.” The captain finishes and leaves Iwaizumi reflecting on his words. Maybe his friends were right. Your intentions might be so pure and honest you hadn’t caught on that he didn’t reciprocate your feelings.
And now he’ll have to break your heart.
After practice was over, he had showered and changed into his school uniform, he made haste to find you and get over with it even though he wasn’t sure yet what to say and how to word it best to soften the blow and let you down slowly.
Entering the classroom, he saw your bag on your seat but you were nowhere to be seen. There was a note on your desk. He flipped it over.
“Y/L/N: Please meet me in the garden by the tree with the white flowers.”
He put the note back where it was and rushed out towards where the note said. And there you were, coming to stand in front of a boy. A second year maybe? He clearly was about to confess to you, shifting his weight from one foot to the other all fidgety and flustered.
Hajime stood hidden at a safe distance but close enough to listen. What was he doing? He was eavesdropping on you. This wasn’t what he was supposed to be doing but his feet had guided him there. He stopped berating himself when he heard your voices.
“IwantedtotellyouthatIthinkyou'resoprettyandifyou’renotinterestedinanyoneelsewouldyouconsiderme?” He blurted out in one breath, seemingly having rehearsed that one sentence in advance until it was ingrained into his mind. “Dating… Me?”
Somehow, in a way Iwaizumi couldn’t comprehend, you understood what the boy had said. “You think I’m pretty. Me.” You sounded dumbfounded by that for some reason. He hoped it wasn’t because you really hadn’t noticed how pretty you really were.
“I mean, sure, you could put a little more effort on your looks at school and you always have dark circles under your eyes. Are you sleeping well?” He was straying off topic very badly. “But! We’ve run into each other outside school and you look clean up nicely.”  Now, Hajime would’ve found that funny if something about that information and truly about the whole ordeal didn’t sit right with him.
He heard your laugh. “Well, thank you for your honesty.” You hesitated a little afterwards, “I’m flattered, really, but I’m sorry I… I got someone else I like.”
“That Iwaizumi guy from the volleyball club, right?” So, he had shot his shot knowing that the odds weren’t in his favor anyway.
No response but he knew the answer. He figured you nodded by how the boy continued. “I should work out more. A lot of the girls are always fawning over his arms. The boys are all jealous.”  You laughed again and the boy did too.
“It’s not just about his strong arms. I just think he’s beautiful. And,” You went on for a bit but then looked up to the boy, who seemed rather amused instead of upset by being turned down, and caught onto what you were saying. “I’m sorry!” You apologized with a deep vow, embarrassed of your slip up in front of a boy who had just confessed to you. Only you could stand there rambling about the guy you actually liked right on his face. You were down bad.
Iwaizumi felt his face grow hotter. This was wrong. He’d heard too much, so he stalked away, not listening to the rest of the conversation.
Come third period and you doze off, head resting on your desk and part of your hair covering your face. A line of drool was dripping out of your mouth. Very pretty, indeed. Iwaizumi laughed to himself as he stared at you and stopped himself before reaching over and brushing your hair away. The teacher let you napping during lectures slide just because you always made up for it by getting excellent grades. He seemed more affected by it than you as he caught himself staring at you from time to time.
Then at lunch, your energy was fully charged again. “Haji-! Iwaizumi.” You cleared your throat, catching yourself. He noticed your efforts. “Want me to buy you something at the cafeteria?”
“No thanks.” He rejected. He didn’t like you spending your money on him.
But lunch was a funny topic between the four third years. Was it during their first year? You had taken the initiative to bring lunch to Iwaizumi. It was so obvious you meant it especially for him even though you brought an extra one and offered it to the others to share. You were so shy and nervous, Iwaizumi thought you were really cute and couldn’t say no. Who knows how much effort it took you to make it, and much more to give it to him.
Later when lunch hour arrived and they went to eat, Makki called for bids first but was shot down by Oikawa. “Y/n-chan meant it for Iwa-chan.”
“It looks good.” He brought the food to his mouth and the others witnessed as their friend turned a little pale, then a little green but still gulped the mouthful down. He scrunched his nose. “Don’t-” he coughed, and reached for his drink. “Don’t eat that.”
“Damn. It can’t be that bad.” Makki ignored his friend’s advice. No better way to learn than going through it yourself. Makki’s face grew pink as he started to laugh in the middle of a coughing fit. “It’s terrible.”
“Why are you still eating it?!” Mattsun, eyes so big it looked comical as he stared scandalized at his friend, tears pricking at the corner of his eyes while finishing the food.
Before practice that day, you arrived at the gym. The first thing Iwaizumi noticed was your red rimmed eyes.
“Hey,” he started carefully, “You okay?” Then, he fucked up. “Ah, thanks for lunch. It was very good.”
Your lower lip wobbled and the dam broke. You started bawling your eyes out in front of everyone. Pathetic, right? You’ll think about it later and it will haunt you for the rest of your days.
Everyone’s expression ranged from concern, surprise and well, hilarity (Makki was crying too, laughing uncontrollably at you while Mattsun smacked him trying to hold his own laughter and Oikawa rushed towards a frantic Iwaizumi trying to figure out how to calm you down.)
Iwaizumi’s stomach was not harmed, though it is not so certain about his taste buds. Makki got food poisoning and had to skip school the next day.
To this day, you are still trying to learn how to cook.
“Cool. Does the offer apply only to him or…?”  Hanamaki, having come in from his own classroom, asked shamelessly.
“Yes.”
“Ouch.”
“I’m kidding. What do you want?”
“Yes! Free food. Oh, I’ll go with you.” He ignored the glare Iwaizumi sent him.
“Bring me something too!” Mattsun yelled after the two, receiving an On it! from you as a response, seeing you walk away with his best friend. “What?” he asked, the ace’s unhappy stare now on him.
The sky was dark with swelling clouds in the evening as practice came to an end and everyone gathered up, hurrying to head home before they decided to burst.
“Let’s walk home together.” You offered to Iwaizumi, “I know you always forget your umbrella. Plus I got a new one.” By new one, you meant one of his from another day you had walked home together. You didn’t forget yours. They just tended to break. But that one you had managed to keep safe.
He thought about it. He’d been meaning to talk to you all day but the chance never presented itself. “Okay.” He saw your smile grow as you counted your victory and his resolve almost dropped.
As you began your walk, it started to rain down. You raised your arm carrying the umbrella high above your heads to keep you and Iwaizumi covered. He had given up on trying to hold it himself. You seemed pretty happy doing it.
The rain shower was okay until the wind picked up too, sending a chill up your arms and you shuddered.
“Y/L/N…” he started as you got closer to his house, before your paths diverted.
“I keep telling you, you can call me by my first name.” a small smile shone through. “The others don’t mind. Oikawa started to do so before I had to tell him anything.”
“Y/L/N,” he repeated, sounding more serious and you stopped walking. He had done so too. You turned to face him, “This has to stop.”
“What do you mean?” It was harder to look into your eyes, seeing you were genuinely confused, but he forced himself sternly. Why did it have to be him?
“Everything! I don’t like it. I don’t like you.” Seeing the sudden pang of hurt in them sent an uncomfortable, almost painful jab to his chest. “All the time. You’re too much.”
Your eyes get shinier, heavier with tears, like the droplets of rain gathered in the clouds above. But you put in all your efforts in trying not to spill them. Not in front of him. You choked in a painful, almost pitiful sound that tried to escape your throat. “Okay.” Was your meek response.
He didn’t think he’d ever hear your voice sound like that. It sounded foreign to his ears, yet he swallowed back the disagreeable feeling it brought him, “Okay.”
“I should probably give this back then.” You grabbed his hand and returned the umbrella to its owner before you plunged yourself under the rain, your tears starting to blend with it. He suddenly wishes he hadn’t spoken watching you blur away while he stays back, powerlessness fixing him in place.
The storm lasted all through the night and next morning early again, light rain was still falling. He enters the gym after changing into his shorts and t-shirt for practice and before he knows it, it is about to start.
“It’s weird that senpai hasn’t shown up.” he hears Kunimi say to Kindaichi, referring to you. The third years silently agree and throw not so subtle glances at Iwaizumi.
“She got tired of waiting for Iwaizumi and abandoned the rest of us.” Yahaba says.
Kindaichi shuts him up fearing the third years are listening, then adds quietly. “She wouldn’t do that.”
“Oi, didn’t you two walk home together yesterday?” Mattsun asks Hajime. “Did she get home okay?”
“Yeah…” He debated for a while if he should text you last night after your conversation but when he finally did, you hadn’t answered. Didn’t even read it. “She’s not answering my texts.”
“Did you talk to her?” Oikawa guessed. By Iwaizumi’s expression he could tell he had done it.
“No way.” Makki chuckled dryly, clearly lacking humor. It sounded like a sad movie scene. “Out of all the times you chose to turn her down while it was pouring rain. That’s so messed up.”
“Even I feel like shit.” Mattsun agreed with a grave nod.
“You guys said I should do it!” Why were they all ganging up on him now?
“It wouldn’t have cost you to read the room a bit and wait a little longer.”
“I didn’t want to in the first place! I panicked!”
“You panicked.” Mattsun more like stated, slowly, “You. You did.” While they figured out what to do with their usually collected friend, that gave him time to go back and repeat the words he had said to you in his head. He slid a hand down his face and up again through his hair, messing it up a bit.
“And what exactly did you tell her?” There it was.
“You fucked up so bad didn’t you?”
Makki almost groans after he repeats the exact words he had thrown at you last evening.
To their surprise, you showed up for class later. There’s still some time before the bell rings so they’re hanging in the hall when they see you. Iwaizumi falters and stops abruptly on his tracks. You send a weak smile at the three other boys and try your best to act like Iwaizumi is not right there beside them, walking past them on your way to the classroom. Something feels so off. He’s usually greeted with your smile (and a little bit of brute force). And to no one’s surprise you had definitely been crying.
For now they think it’s better to give you some space.
At lunch break, Makki and Mattsun’s figures appear under the door frame. The former seemed to look for someone and then he remembers. “Where is she?”
“Cafeteria.” Oikawa answers while Iwaizumi keeps eating his lunch silently.
“You wanna come?” He hears Makki ask Mattsun and then both disappear after you. Makki’s clearly a bit irritated with the ace.
Both boys find you eating lunch at a table at the cafeteria, alone.
“Hey,” the strawberry blond smiles at you, taking a seat in front of you while Mattsun takes one by your side. “You brought your own lunch?” Matsukawa tries to hide his concern after he also notices it. You nod.
“Did your mom make it?” The raven color haired boy hopes.
“I made it. Though she guided me through it.” Your mom gets closer to a mental breakdown every time you get near the kitchen. It should be considered a skill your immense lack of skill.
“Are you trying to kill yourself?” Makki reaches for your lunchbox.
“It’s actually good this time.” You say throwing them an offended look and they're glad to see that dead aura leave you for a few seconds, yet still a bit unsure about your statement. “I’m not going to kill myself because of a boy."
Makki snatches some of your food and tries it. Just to be sure. He already knows what’s the worst that can happen. His eyes go wide, pleasantly surprised. “You can cook!” At that you actually chuckled, making him do so too. Then Mattsun also steals some of your food.
“At least something good came out of me making a fool of myself for years.” And just like that the happy spark dies. You push your food aside and look down, trying to hide your tears as your vision gets blurry.
“Hey, no,no,no.” Makki is tilting your head up while Mattsun awkwardly brushes a hand through your hair trying to comfort you. “You know you can ugly cry in front of us.”
A hiccup keeps you from answering, then, “Don’t I look pretty when I cry?”
“Nope.” He says just to bother you. You laugh again but then you actually start crying and Mattsun hugs you. “There it is.”
Next day, the bell rings and as he walks inside, Iwaizumi’s eyes are looking for you, then asking out loud, “Hasn’t Y/L/N arrived yet?”
“She’s not here?” That boy who’s always fighting with you over perfect attendance turns around and it’s just as surprised when he sees your empty seat. “Huh. I wonder why she’s not here.” he mumbles.
As class is about to start, Mattsun comes by.
“Matsukawa, why aren’t you in your homeroom?” The teacher sighs.
“Our teacher didn’t come today.”
“By the way, can we split our group and take your class now?” Makki said, popping behind the middle blocker. Now that would sound strange coming from him but he was just looking for a way to get over with classes sooner.
“Hold on. That’s not why we’re here, stupid.” Mattsun scolded and headed over to their teacher to tell them the reason for your absence. You had catched a bad cold. The image of you under the rain taunted him and the guilt didn’t take long to eat away at him.
The days kept moving all the same. There was afternoon practice, some supporters (mostly from Oikawa’s considerable fan club) showed up for a while, but no you. Walking back home, there was no you with your exciting chatter about whatever thing had your interest now, whether it was about that book you were reading, or that tv show you’d told him about or a new song from your favorite artist. No texts asking if he got home safe. And the same thing the next morning, the next afternoon, the day next. From what he’d heard from your mutual friends, it might take you a few more days to get back.  He’d found himself missing all of it more than he ever thought he would. Which in turn made him the more confused.
“Iwa-chan. That crease between your brows will become permanent. I don’t think it will suit you.”
“Shut up.” He turned his face away from the brunette and faced the window, scowling even deeper if possible. His head was resting over his folded arms on his desk.
“Did you eat something bad?” Even that stupid question made him think of you. He groaned.
Then enter the tall, dark haired boy and the strawberry blond, the latter laughing at something in his phone and showing it to Mattsun.
“Are you still pestering y/n?” That was Mattsun. As if he hadn’t joined earlier. Iwaizumi perked up at the mention of your name.
“Let that poor girl rest.”
“She’s fine, see?” He turned his screen to show Oikawa a picture of you, still smiling softly at the camera, the tip of your nose pink, same as your cheeks. You look a little sleepy too.
“We have a groupchat. Why is she always sending stuff to you?”
“Jealous much?”
“What is up with him?” Mattsun noticed Iwaizumi, trying but failing to subtly steal a glance at Makki’s phone.
“He’s brooding.”
“I’m not brooding.”
Oikawa ignored him. “Thinking too hard for his own capacity.”
“Are you looking for a fight?”
“That’s what you might be good at. But why don’t you tell us what are you so upset about?”
“I told you I’m not upset. I’m just…” he brushed a hand through his hair, exasperated. “I just don’t get it. I said what I said to her because I was sure that was how I felt,”
But why do I miss it all so much? He wanted to add.
“How do I fix this?”  He asked, looking so helpless and lost as they had ever seen him.
Makki sighed, “If I was her, I wouldn’t want to deal with anything about you anymore,” Very supportive of him, “But unfortunately she likes you a lot.”
“Do you really like her or you just miss the attention?” It was low blow after low blow. He kinda deserved it. Very much.
“I think what they’re trying to say is that you really need to be sure about what you feel if you don’t want to fuck up even worse.”
But when you got back you avoided him like the plague. The contrast was impressive; how you were able to shower someone with affection but when it wasn’t desired you'd sneak around and away with such an ability. He still didn’t know how to approach the topic best, considering how bad that had ended before.
Then you started going back to help during practice, even during the mornings.
“Told you.” Kindaichi elbowed Yahaba, regarding with full admiration at his senpai.
Makki hummed contentedly,  “Long time no see you around these premises.”
“Sorry I bailed on you, guys.” You apologized to the rest of the team but they told you you had nothing to worry about. Meanwhile you felt Iwaizumi’s stare burning into you. Was he uncomfortable with you being back? Panic started to bubble up inside you. You weren’t obliged to be there anyway. “Captain. A word?” You squeaked out and before Oikawa could question this new odd behavior of yours you were pulling him away from the group.
Iwaizumi tilted his head observing the interaction. Oikawa threw him a quick glance before he directed a smile at you and you were nodding, looking unsure.
“Okay, everyone, let’s start!” The setter walked over to him and patted his back, then whispered, “Talk to her.”
Light started to fade away as signs of a storm rolled in. It was time to finish for the day.
“Where is she?”
“What? Ah, she just left- Wait- Wait until I tell you where she is! Jeez. She said she left something behind in homeroom.”
Iwaizumi made a run for the classroom and slid open the door. Empty. All these days he didn’t know why he had bothered to fix his hair for the countless times he’d ended brushing his hands through it out of frustration and messing it up. He was messing up a lot lately.
He sprinted his way towards the school entrance just in time to see you stop in your tracks as it started to rain outside. Of course, he had your new umbrella. And he never brought one.
You turned around hearing the flurry of steps headed towards you and there he was, arms dropping at his sides as he gasped, his lungs desperately trying to recover some air. Iwaizumi saw your eyes go wide and for a moment it was like he was able to see every single one of your movements before they reached completion.
“Wai-” You dashed outside and away. Damn. Were you scared of him now?
He groaned in protest before he started to run after you, “YOU’RE GOING TO GET SICK AGAIN!” He managed to say. You kept running like your life depended on it, as if you didn’t hear him. Maybe you didn’t because of the downpour that suddenly surrounded you. “OR BREAK SOMETHING,” he tried speaking between hurried breaths, “IF YOU FALL!”
He grabs hold of one of your upper arms, making you stop and turn around. “You’re pretty damn fast for someone who hates to exercise.” a deep breath, “But I’m faster.”
You wanted him to let go and keep running, but his grip was firm and even if he did let go, you weren’t sure if you’d be able to look away from his eyes. Iwaizumi was staring at you with a new intensity that had your feet rooted to the ground.
“Why are you doing this?” After he tells you to stay away, he chases after you. And now he’s looking stupidly handsome even though he’s soaked from head to toe, his spiky hair pushed down by the heavy droplets that keep falling on you. And his plain t-shirt from practice is sticking to his body - you’re thankful he’s casted a spell on you and can’t break eye contact, you think, in fear of staring-. Somewhere else in the back of your mind, an annoying voice tells you you probably look as if a stray cat had taken a bath.
“I can’t take back what I said.” He starts, “I wish I could because I didn’t mean them that way. And then I realized I didn’t mean them at all.”
That doesn’t enlighten you at all. “What do you mean? You…You mean you still want to be friends?”
“We can’t be friends.”
“Okay, you’re being really confusing right now-”
He closed his eyes and shook his head, “Please,” He knew, but he was trying, “Let me talk before I go crazy.”
You shut up, and listened as he started talking,“I like when you smile at me in the mornings even though you hate to be up early. I like how cute you look while you nap during class and I hope that doesn’t sound creepy at all. And when you tried to make lunch for me and it was so, so bad, but I still ate it because you made it. I like walking home with you and learning about the things you like. I liked all of it and I regret so much saying it was too much because I know it hurt you when it wasn’t even true. I didn’t know how I felt about you because I thought your feelings for me were stronger than mine for you. Because you’re so open about them compared to me. But I like you just the same way, and I’ve missed you these past couple of weeks so much.” He took in a deep breath, then let it out, shuddering, partly because of the cold rain shower, partly for what he was about to say next. “I totally get it if I ruined my chances. I did it to myself. Even though it’s going to hurt like hell knowing I could’ve had you.”
The boy of your dreams was right in front of you, baring his heart and pouring all his feelings out. You should feel ecstatic, overflowed with joy. And you are, warmth seeping in and settling on your chest all while goosebumps crawl on your skin from the chilly weather. And though it is obvious you are, there is some uncertainty in how you look at him and Iwaizumi sees it. He feels something close to desperation even though he knew mending the damage he’d inflicted couldn’t be so easy.
“Is that how you really feel?”
“I wouldn’t joke about something like this.”  And you know he wouldn’t.
You lift a hesitant hand to his face and cup his cheek, brushing your thumb gently over it. It feels just as cold as your fingertips. For a moment you’re worried he’ll fade away. Your other hand closes around the front of his shirt and pulls him down into a kiss. He lets out a whimper, surprised by your actions, but he returns the kiss right away. He wonders how he could have been so long without this. Then it is over. So, so, soon. You break away for air but he wants more and this time he kisses you.
When you pull away for the second time, your eyes meet his, “I had to do that.” And he totally understands.
“Would you give me a little more time?”
Though you’re not totally rejecting him, it still stings. But he can do that. He nods fervently, “Yes.”
You’re holding one of his hands and give it a light squeeze, then continue your way home walking this time.
He’s sure this in no way resembles the way you were heartbroken that day, he remembers Makki’s words. It was really messed up.
It was Iwaizumi’s turn to be sick. But unlike you, he recovers faster, back in shape after some bed rest and 3 days out. Oikawa nags at him for being so careless as to run in the rain. He has his suspicions about what happened but doesn’t push him for details. You’re doing better. And though the spiky haired boy looks to be awaiting for something eagerly and seems to stop breathing every time you look at him, he’s doing alright too.
Then it came a sunny morning against a bright blue sky. Iwaizumi was chatting with the captain about an upcoming match when he heard someone arriving into the gym. He turned around and sure enough there you were with Makki, whom you’d ran into on your way there. You stood there staring at each other as if in a frozen picture frame. Only melting when you smiled at him just like only you could do. He blushed but opened his arms wide as you shrugged your bag off - Makki letting out a puff of air after catching the heavy thing out of reflex, saving it from another disgrace- and made a run for it and jumped, legs wrapping around his waist as you hugged him while he kept a strong, safe grip on you.
Fin.
A/N: Hello! I share with you dear reader my first Iwaizumi fic! I had the idea not too long ago and finally started shaping it into words on Wednesday evening, then continued Thursday afternoon/evening, Friday and editing/proofreading today (probably did a poor job at proofreading cuz my brother came home to visit and he distracts me all the time. And that’s why it took me longer to post it). This was a bit complicated to write because I didn’t want the fluff ending to feel baseless, as if Iwaizumi’s feelings bloomed out of nowhere just because reader wasn’t giving her undivided to him, yk? I hoped I achieved that. And that the ending transitioned smoothly? And wasn’t abrupt. Honestly I was just about to finish it after Iwa confessed and they kissed but I wanted him to suffer a bit lol. Oh and Makki being besties with reader . I just loved it. Reader is like sister #3 (like his # too <3). Also it’s been raining for the past two weeks so maybe that’s why it rained so much in this story lol. Let me know what you think, what aspects you liked, if any. Likes, rbs and comments are always appreciated. Enjoy your reading and check out my hq!! ml for more! - Youmarin

"Stop it." He spoke firmly, a tone he'd never use on you often. You looked at him slowly, slitted lazy eyes refusing to grow any wider. You look him up and down before releasing the smoke that had sat in your mouth.
"C'mon will you stop that." Oikawa struts towards you, everything about him screaming a serious and calm determination but you know he is anything but.
You take a hit anyway, watching the pen light up at the bottom before holding it in for a moment. He takes it out your hand.
You arch your eyebrows at him before releasing the vapors again. "It was that, cigarettes or cutting. take your pick to which you'd prefer because I'm sure as hell not feeling well enough to do neither." You spoke quick and unkindly, in absolutely no mood to compromise or talk it out.
Then you sigh, "I'm sorry, It's just getting bad again with everything and not having much alone time at home with relatives staying there's no time to be myself..."
Oikawa follows with a sigh of his own, wiping down his face, he's dissapointed, something you expected but also something you can't take right now.
"I of all people know the pressure there is to be perfect, to hide the hobbies and characteristics deemed as flaws but I also know how fucking exhausting it is, to hold a wall against everyone you know, keeping track of how much each individual can know about you..." He kneels down infront of you know, straightening your legs so he isn't blocked by your propped up knees. He places the vape down beside you hoping you take the hint not to take it just yet.
"I know its exhausting, you've expressed this before feeling like the jack of all trades but master of none...and I guess somewhere along that line you forget how impressive it truly is to be good at so many things. You're a honor student athlete, who can write, and sing, and however many instruments you've picked up over the years. You can even make something out of the bare minimum." He smiles his head and eyes pointing to your desk with the piling hobbies you've gained over the years.
"But I know, I know how tough you always want to seem, how put together you want to portray yourself as and don't get me wrong you truly are but when you know you need a break, when you're on the edge of surpassing burn out, you never show it, you never show you need help, you're so independent you'd rather rely on your unhealthy, deeply unhealthy," He takes the vape in his hands, using it to point at you. "coping mechanisms hoping it will be the solution but you know it isn't so why do you still do it?"
You're sat in silence now, just staring at him, you want to be annoyed, you've heard this speech hundreds of times by the few friends who know but looking into his eyes causes your body to betray your head and pull him into a hug and sob. it's awkward his knees lift from the ground slightly but his body doesn't his torso is stretching to reach your chest to lean forward and give you access to resting your head on his shoulders nonetheless he steadies himself and tolerates the pain.
"I just need something to control in my life, everything I've ever been good at was always somehow turned into something others could benefit out of but cutting was my little secret, cigarettes were my friend when I felt lonely, I couldn't just- I can't just." Your whole body rattles from your sobs, months worth of tears releasing at this very moment at you mess your words up, mirroring your foggy mind.
Oikawa coos at you, using the silence as an opportunity to scoop you up into a comfortable position, opting for sitting you on his lap as he switches places with you. You sob for a moment before speaking, still slightly interrupted by the tremors of your body and hics deep in your chest.
"I'll throw away the cigarettes and try to lessen how much I vape. I can't guarantee a complete stop but I'll try." You almost whisper with how squished your face is in the crook of his neck but he hears it, he heard enough to know what you were implying. He rubs up and down your back.
"I'm proud of you for simply trying." He kisses the closest body part he can which ends up being your shoulder.

this is kind of a weird request so sorry in advance and you don't have to write it if you don't want to of course!!! but could i get hcs for atsumu, oikawa, and terushima with a lesbian best friend? i feel like lesbian + flirty boy is such a power duo because she can give girl advice and they don't have to worry about feelings making things awkward dhkshdkdh sorry again!!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS REQUEST FBWBBDSF I love the dynamic these three would have with a lesbian best friend, it would be so chaotic, I love it. I based some of these with how I am with my guy friends, I’m not a lesbian but I’m close enough HAHAHA
Also, happy pride you guys 🥺💕  from your local chaotic bi

-`,✎ Atsumu, Oikawa and Terushima with a lesbian best friend
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Miya Atsumu
You guys are like the ultimate power couple except you aren’t a couple
Everyone thinks you guys are dating at first because Atsumu isn’t the type who’s openly close and touchy with a girl but when he’s with you, you two are basically attached by the hip, even more so than he is with his brother
But surprise!! You’re gay as gay can be
When you first told him, he didn’t even bat an eye
“I already knew.”
“What?? How?”
“I’VE KNOWN YOU FOR YEARS, YOU THINK I WOULDN’T NOTICE!?”
But he’s so genuinely happy you trusted him enough to tell him, also he was beginning to worry you were going to tell Osamu first
He’s surprisingly the most supportive best friend ever
If anyone ever tries to give you shit for your sexuality then they will have to face the wrath of an angered Atsumu (+Osamu ofc)
He was already pretty blunt with his words to begin with, just imagine him angry
You two do this thing where you sit somewhere in public, usually munching on snacks from the convenience store, people watching
When I say people watching, I mean checking girls out
“Look over there, she’s cute.”
“Ew, she’s way out of your league.”
“What do you mean?!”
He’d smack your ice cream to the ground when you say this and he’d have to buy you a new one after you started smacking him with your bag
He’ll never admit it to anyone except you but he sucks with girls
THEY FALL FOR HIM LEFT AND RIGHT AND HE CAN DEAL WITH FANGIRLS BUT WHEN HE ACTUALLY LIKES SOMEONE HE DOESN’T KNOW WHAT TO DO
Basically: He’s a dork
He goes to you for love advice, mostly because he trusts you and because he knows there’ll be less teasing (Osamu would never let him hear the end of it)
Plus you have more experience than Osamu hehe
He’d drape himself over your lap as you’re working and tell you about all his woes
“Why do I keep scaring her off?”
“Listen, Tsumu, you just gotta cut the sarcasm and try not to sound condescending all the time.”
“I don’t sound condescending all the time!”
“Are you deaf??”
Not gonna lie, people are lowkey intimidated by you two
He’s pretty protective of you, like in an older brother type of way
Listen he knows that guys are trash but he knows how ruthless girls can be, he doesn’t want to see you get hurt
He ends up unintentionally scaring away other girls from you which you def weren’t happy about
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oikawa Tooru
His fangirls hate you with a burning passion
You’re the one girl he’s completely let into his life, you were one of his closest friends
He was just drawn to you, you know? You two just clicked immediately
Mostly because you both radiated the same crackhead energy
But also because you weren’t the same as the other girls in his school, you didn’t look at him with this starstruck look in your eyes like he was some idol, you saw him for who he really was
That sounds so sappy, he would never tell you any of this, you’d tease him too much
He’s so cute though, he calls you his platonic soulmate
He’s a super affectionate person
He always has his arm around your shoulder or linked with your own, another reason why his fangirls have it out for you
WHAT THEY DIDN’T KNOW WAS THAT YOU WERE MORE INTO THE THEM THAN YOU WERE INTO OIKAWA
Subconsciously, Oikawa knew that you would never fall for him and he loved that about your relationship, he didn’t worry about you becoming a fangirl or losing the bond you two shared because of awkwardness
But he just thought it was because you really only saw Oikawa as a friend and not because you were gay
When you did tell him, he was so surprised and he internally slapped himself because “I should have known!!” He knows you better than anyone, why didn’t he see the signs??
He’s so great about it though, he immediately takes you in his arms and tells you that you’re amazing and thanks you for telling him
“(Y/N) this is so great, it means we have more in common!”
If anyone, I mean anyone, whether it be fangirl or classmate or stranger on the street, says anything bad about you he will not hesitate to throw some hands
Listen, Oikawa may have a reputation to uphold but if anyone talks shit about his best friend then he’s going to go feral
You were definitely Oikawa’s go-to for girl advice
When he had a crush, when he didn’t know how to deal with his fangirls, when his girlfriend dumped him, you were the first one he went to
“I can’t believe she broke up with me.”
“Pfft, you could do better. I told you not to date her.”
“Would you have dated her?”
“I mean she was hot but come on, she was a bitch.”
sorry i just hate his ex-girlfriend even tho we dont even know her
Okay but you two are like this ultra attractive chick magnet when you’re together
You’re probably popular at school if you have Oikawa by your side 24/7, you probably have your own fangirls too
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Terushima Yuuji
Funny story, you and Terushima first became friends after he hit on you during your first year
“Hey, couldn’t help noticing you earlier, I’m Terushima but you can call me babe.”
“Okay, first of all, I’m gay. Second, what the hell was that pick up line? You’re never going to get anyone’s attention if that’s the best you’ve got.”
You two immediately became best friends
Your friendship mainly consisted of you teaching Terushima how to actually pick up girls at first but you two still stuck with each other even after he mastered the art that is being a fuckboy
i love him so much but come on, he’s a total fuckboy
Now your relationship mainly consists of vine references and you trying to revoke your knowledge of picking up girls from him
You regret teaching him those things all those years ago
In all seriousness though, you two are basically family to one another, he trusts you completely
And yeah, needless to say, he is totally supportive of you and loves you unconditionally
At first glance, you two look like an overly touchy couple, he always has his arm draped around you and isn’t afraid to kiss you on the cheek and forehead
He’s constantly surrounded by a whole number of girls but he always tells people that you’re his #1
You two constantly have these moments where you’re both out and a pretty girl walks by and you both just halt to a stop and check her out
Afterward, you both turn towards each other and freak out over how attractive she was
“Holy shit, (Y/N) she’s wearing a bi flag bracelet, go get her number.”
He always tries to set you up with other girls, you don’t even ask him to but he does anyways
“Are you free tomorrow?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Perfect, you have a date at 2, she'll pick you up at your place.”
“Wait, what—”
However, if you ever like someone then your boi Terushima will be your ultimate wingman
He just wants to see you happy okay?
So he will do absolutely anything to help you get your girl, no doubt about it
WILL FIGHT ANYONE FOR YOU
If anyone tries to hurt you then he’s gonna call the bois and beat them up, he will not let them slide
He will definitely go to pride with you, he’ll arrive clad in full rainbow attire
“What do you mean you won’t wear the matching rainbow cape, (Y/N) I paid good money for this.”

~how the Seijoh four met Y/n~ (Oikawa’s part)(*^U^)人(≧V≦*)/
warning: mistakes bby. I just wrote, didn’t proofread or anything lol
a/n: This Y/n goes with my series I’m doing called As Per Usual. It’s basically a slice of life kind of series where you are besties with Oikawa, Hanamaki, Iwaizumi, and Matsukawa. Here is the ✨masterlist ✨for the series to get more context. Hope you enjoy~
Oikawa
-he is actually the last person to meet you from the whole group. Lol
 ♪\(*^▽^*)/\(*^▽^*)/
-And honestly the first meeting between you and Oikawa…Well it wasn’t like the others…
-He thought you were another one of his fans. BUT HE WAS SO WRONG.
- see, you were really trying to be nice to him but he made that v difficult. lmao
-you didn’t know anything about him, but you remembered that he was one of Hanamaki’s friends and you wanted to finally introduce yourself and you thought this was the perfect opportunity bc he was standing right there~
-So this is where it all begins! you were at a bakery trying to pick up some snacks for you and your seatmate that sits in front of you. and you happened to notice Oikawa was there browsing as well.
-At first you didn’t know if that was really him and you kept trying to sneakily get closer to see if it really was Oikawa and not some random dude that looks like him. Basically, you went into spy mode~
- And when you were thinking that you weren’t being noticeable. you were wrong bestie
-Meanwhile, Oikawa noticed a long time ago. Probably the first time you did a double take, he noticed you.  Lol he honestly thought it was kind of cute.
-So, he did you a favor (well he thought he was) and walked up to you.
-On your mind, you thought,. “Is he walking up to me?” “Why is he smiling at me? “Oh, god he really is walking up to me...”
-In the inside you were freaking out, you weren’t completely ready. You weren’t even sure if it really was him at first. But then soon you realized that you were worried for no reason.
- “Hi, Oikawa-senpai. I’m-
- “A fan. I know.”
-You deadpanned but Oikawa didn’t seem to notice. Does he think I’m a fan…. What kind of guy is this? you thought.
-Before you can say anything else, “I have noticed that you were looking and don’t worry. You could always come up to me.”
- “Uhh,” (°ロ°)☝ (°-°)☝
-”Speechless? I know. So-
-You just walked away and Oikawa was slightly offended.
- “Wait, wait. Why are you walking away?”
- “They were right…” You said to yourself and slumped but continued putting random bread and pastries onto your tray.
- “Wait. So you’re not a fan?”
“Why would I be?” Oikawa was clearly offended, but also felt refreshed weirdly enough. But it got worse for Oikawa,  you continued, “I don’t know you. Why would I be a fan? You’re not famous or anything.”
-“But you know my name and you were staring and giving me heart eyes.”
- “I–Really? Well, there wasn’t really much to look at.”
- “Rude!”
-The next thing you knew you were bickering with Oikawa. This was the first time meeting this guy and you were now bickering with him. Talk about first impressions. ᇂ_ᇂ
- “Wait, I think I know who you are?”
- “Who do you think I am then? Huh?” You said mockingly.
- “You’re that first year, aren’t you? The one that got in trouble the first week of the term. Shouldn’t you be respecting your senpai’s after all that?”
- You rolled your eyes at the thought of all that. (to get more context you should read this!)
“Sure I am. But what kind of senpai picks a fight with a kohai.” You did get him there.
Oikawa knowing you’re right...( ゚,_ゝ゚)
- After the bickering continued, you both were unfortunately kicked out of the bakery for being too loud.
-And so now you and Oikawa were both breadless and annoyed. You both went your separate ways after that.
-Oikawa can’t believe the audacity you had, and to think he thought you were a fan…
-You were going to give this guy the benefit of the doubt, but you should have listened to Hanamaki and the others…
-So Monday came along and you were minding your business, you were actually pretty happy bc the seatmate that you were going to give snacks to,  had extra snacks and shared them with you. bless their heart (●´ω`●)
-So you told them that you were going to the vending machines and get drinks and that’s when you saw Hanamaki!
-You started walking over to him with a smile on your face. But that smile left when Hanamaki moved to the side and he was talking to Oikawa.
-It was too late for you to turn around. Your face was like this (⊙︿⊙✿) until Hanamaki spotted you and called you over and your face went to this (✿◠‿◠)
- SO you walked over and Oikawa noticed that it was you and huffed in response.
- Hanamaki just looked at the two of you.
- “I was going to introduce the two of you, but I sense you both know each other already...”
-  “That’s the brat that I was talking about!”
- “Brat? At least I’m not so narcissistic to think that anyone that gives them eye contact is a fan.”
- AND BEFORE YOU KNEW IT THE TWO OF YOU WERE BICKERING AND ALL HANAMAKI WAS THINKING was how?
- Hanamaki just stood there by the sideline, mumbling to himself. “Y/n, this Oikawa. Oikawa, this is Y/n my Kohai I mention to you.”
-Hanamaki was too tired to even stop all of  this so he just walked away.
-and the both of you didn’t realize that he was gone.
-Legend says that the two of you are still there by the vending machines bickering… LMAO
---
end notes~
- Oikawa and Y/n are actually pretty close even though they bicker and fight each other a lot. The change of leaf all started with a rainy day and a bowl of ramen but that is a story for another day~
-People wouldn’t even think that the both of them get into each other’s nerves, by how close the two of you are. There was even a moment where Hanamaki was a little jealous by how close you two got.
-Oikawa thinks of Y/n as refreshing and kinda scary once they got to know each other and got more comfortable with each other. But a good kind of scary, not the toxic kind of scary. Like wow I feel safe, but also v intimidated, but yas they are my ride or die. lmao.
-Oikawa doesn’t realize this until after he graduates and has moved to Argentina--but he has feeling for you but doesn’t do anything about it. (I KNOW I SAID THIS SERIES IS MOSTLY PLATONIC BUT SOMETIMES FRIENDS HAVE FEELINGS FOR THEIR FRIENDS LMAO but also this is really angst if I got more into detail about this moment.)

A letter from Oikawa
Topic: coming out to him as trans male
Pronouns used: He/him
Relationship: Platonic
Tumblr media
Hey~
Congrats on finding yourself! I'm really proud of you. It must've took a big toll on you, huh? I mean, finding out that what you were taught as a child didn't really apply to you. I bet there are people who are even denying it! Can you believe their ignorance and audacity to do so?
Don't listen to them, okay? You are a man. No matter what anyone tells you. If they misgender you, come to me and I'll jam it in their brains that your pronouns are he/him. Don't worry, I got your back! And I am sorry for reaching out to you Like this. My schedule is, a mess, which I need to fix. But contact me whenever, okay? I'm here for you <3

— THE VALENTINE’S COUNTDOWN, 1
ONE: In which you have 28 days to win over oikawa tooru’s heart
Tumblr media
previous chapter
Oikawa was pissed.
The gentle breeze from the window that was conveniently to the side, by the seat of his, allowed the cold to brush against his cheeks and give him some calm. As if the petals of the trees that crept in when touched him, gave him peace.
Who the hell did you think you were?
The thing is, all day yesterday he was unconsciously looking for you all over AOBA JOHSAI. Since that Tuesday, January 14, at the end of the training, he thought a bit about the consequences that having accepted your proposal would bring. And he realized that it was actually absurd, and that it scared him, but that he wouldn't tell you right away. His plan was to let you try to do it the next day and finally tell you that he thought about it and that he wasn't interested. But since yesterday, and until noon of today, he has not even seen your shadow.
Do you really think that just because you were brave you had the privilege of doing that to him? To leave him waiting for something that wasn't even his idea? But what bothered her him the most was something else. What really bothered him, and that Oikawa didn't want to accept, is that for a moment, you piqued a genuine curiosity in him.
And now you were mocking him from afar. It did not happen with many. Truthfully he was constantly searched everywhere, so the setter preferred to keep his distance with people he had not known for a long time, or with whom he was not sure that they could collaborate in something or at least trust.
Oikawa hated when people made fun of him. And for the little rational boy, that was what you had done.
Iwaizumi noticed his friend's haddock and instantly chuckled, hearing the bell, he grabbed one of his recent qualified exams and rolled it up to give the brown haired man a slap.
"Stop listening to your stupidity" Iwaizumi's emerald gaze was judgmental.
"It's not stupid, it's common sense." Oikawa grunted, but inevitably followed the ace to go out for something to eat.
With his hands in his pockets and throwing his head back in frustration, he ignored the usual stares they received. Around the corner, at a table, which were common to see inside of the building, he noticed his two other friends rambling on some topic that right now, did not interest him.
"Feeling betrayed for not being the center of someone's universe is not common sense," Iwa said once more.
"Smooth, Iwa, smooth" Makki celebrated his friend as they both contained a laugh. Being the wonderful quartet that they were, his teammates were aware of the situation because when Oikawa told them, he seemed lost.
"I'm starting to like the girl." It was Mattsun's turn to speak.
"She's the most annoying girl I've ever met," Oikawa rebutted, resting his chin on his hand.
"You haven't even met her!" Iwaizumi laughed.
"Neither does Mattsukawa!"
"Anyone who brings you down to earth is enough for me"
"My cloud is way too high for anyone to reach it" Oikawa irritably took the juice he had brought from home and took a sip.
"Besides, you know her name right? Why not go find her and be mad to her face?"
"She's the one who looked for me!" he whimpered himself.
"Oh and your pride won't let you look around for her, right?" Hanamaki teased, the setter was from his closest friends, yet he didn't take away the fact that he could be as irritating as his reputation didn't mention.
"The thing is ..." Iwaizumi was quick to reply "Being the idiot that you are, you never take long to make someone the enemy, although deep inside you know that what bothers you is nothing more than ..."
"The fact that you don't even have a solid reason to complain." Mattsun took a potato chip from the captain's plate, giving a fact.
Oikawa whimpered, giving up.
"I hate when you are right."
Five hours later, and with sweat running down Oikawa's temple, his frustrations had somehow been drained on the court. And he even felt foolish for having made something so small an exuberant thing.
Like, if you were about to ghost him, that would only mean he could pretend as if nothing had happened.
He spotted Makki laughing at something stupid that probably Iwa said. While Kunimi was wondering whether to interrupt her elder's talk to ask something.
While coach Irihata gave them the go-ahead to finish practice, Oikawa couldn't take another ball because his teammates knew how to limit the extra practice time to avoid problems, so they picked up everything.
Sitting on the floor, he felt a stream of water run down his back and indignantly turned to see how Matsukawa gave him a malicious smile with the bottle in his hand. Makki put a hand to his mouth to reduce the noise of his laughter as Watari gave him not so discreetly a 1000 yen bill.
Oikawa's gaze changed, becoming psychotic and Makki began to panic for his life.
"You are a dead man!"
"MERCY OIKAWA MERCY!"
It was a fun scene to watch, as the newly pranked guy ran around the gym chasing his friend with droopy eyes that now seemed very vivid.
During that time, Oikawa managed to pick up one of the bottles that laid on the floor, if he was going to pay he would do it entirely. So being the brute that the setter sometimes was, his plan had no flaws, more than anything it was perfect.
As if it were a bad joke, when he saw Mattsun, the doors of the gym opened.
"OIKAWA-SAAAAAAAN!"
And once again, and to the surprise of the boy, life slowed down.
Spinning in the air, you could see the captain's bottle floating towards you, from one moment to the next you were now standing between the target of the bottle.
And thanks to fate, or to the ability you had for encountering situations like that, you weren’t fast enough to at least try to catch the bottle. So your temple took the hit.
"Son of-!" you said panting, and trying to lessen the pain in your head by putting a hand on it.
"Oh my god, are you-" Yahaba started and then he ended up being startled.
Yes, that boy definitely needed to learn to interact with pretty girls like you.
Without even noticing the interaction, Oikawa approached you.
Oikawa's eyes widened when he met you, and in a way the annoyance returned to him without knowing why.
Oh no wait, he knew why.
"Well karma has a way of-"
Before Yahaba could continue, or even Oikawa, you raised your hand to silence them.
"Sorry" you started while looking at the captain, still catching your breath
In shock, the brown-eyed boy did not know what to say, because he could tell that you had rushed to the gym, your figure was full of stress and concern.
The guys on the team looked at each other. First of all because of the fact that, physically speaking, you were not what they imagined you to be, in a way you exceeded the boys' natural expectations. They knew that Oikawa occasionally attracted beautiful girls, but you were definitely a special case. And in second place, because what they least expected after how irritating their captain was, is that you asked for forgiveness.
“In my defense, although I know I shouldn't have excuses, yesterday they asked me to write an article which I didn't have planned and I had to spend extra time here, plus extracurricular is a pain in the ass. And also, for being the most wanted guy, you're not easy to find, so it's not my fault that you- "
Oikawa saw how you realized how loud you were talking. and how his teammates were attentive to you, noticing your presence. He noticed how by being in the public eye, you made yourself small, observing your discomfort.
"So i’m s-sorry" you finished as best you could with red cheeks and looking at the ground.
Oikawa's confused look revealed that he didn't know what to say. And he just decided to intimidate you more. He smirked.
When you noticed it, you couldn't help but get angry, what was the need to make you feel this way? Yes, you made a mistake but still: "Moron"
You put your hands to your mouth, having accidentally thought aloud.
A silence fell but not even five seconds passed when Oikawa's friends began to laugh out loud.
"You didn't have to insult me, look what you did! Besides, the upset one should be me!"
"Sorry! But you were being petty! "
Oikawa raised his hands to his eyes in clear frustration. But, a feeling of relief came to the boy when your gazes connected again, he didn't know why, but he simply cataloged it as something that he would discover later.
Before your repentant look, the boy put his hand on your shoulder, as if to say 'it's okay, I guess ...'
"We will fight later" declared the captain, clapping his hands happily as if forgetting what had happened before. "Right now…"
"Let's eat," he heard from you, as you instinctively held the hem of his jacket to get his attention.
When you realized that, you took your hand away, blushing. Oikawa didn't know how you were so brave to ask him out on a date but too embarrassed to even have a conversation with him. "I suppose you are hungry right? I pay."
He followed your gaze. Ah, it wasn't him.
Oikawa looked carefully at his friends with whom he suspected, he could come up with something to show you which of you had the lead.
It was a cruel thing to take advantage of your nule abilities to socialize, but it was the only thing he could think of.
"I would love to (y/l/n)-chan! Come on guys, you heard the lady" he exclaimed ‘innocently’. He saw your eyes wide in surprise, and he continued "Is there a problem with that?"
Your eyebrow twitched with rage when you saw the playful smile of the idiot that were attracted to.
Of course you knew his intentions, he just wanted to make things more difficult for you. You could resign there, anyone seeing that he was a fool would have done it. But for some reason, that only made it more interesting to you.
"Hey Oikawa I don't think-" Iwaizumi tried to reprimand his friend.
"Not a single one." You answered the question by wrinkling your nose as well as challenging Oikawa, you took your bag tighter and began to take confident steps. "I’ll wait for… all of you outside"
Would your wallet cry? Of course yes.
You growled out of sight of the team, and using your phone's speed dial, Izuki answered.
"The boy I like is an idiot."
-
Sipping your lemonade, it was clear that the first few minutes sitting in that sushi place were somewhat peculiar.
Uncomfortable.
On the one hand, the team was expectantly staring at Oikawa for dragging them into such a personal situation. The aforementioned simply kept a half smile on his face looking at you who, for some reason, found the corners of the table way too interesting all of a sudden.
When you had everyone's orders, as an excuse, it was you who took them to the bar to order them.
"May I be the first to say that you are an asshole, Shittykawa?"
"Thank goodness, I thought I would have to put up with it all evening" Hanamaki agreed with Iwaizumi.
"WHAT DID I DO?"
"You made that poor girl pay for a whole party!" Watari scolded, which was amazing since sophomores never questioned Tooru.
"And you used us to intimidate her" Mattsun said.
"I feel sorry" Yahaba dared to express "Although well, Oikawa knows what he does right? If he doesn't trust her ... "
"Don't make me hit you" Mattsun growled alerting his underclassman.
Although Yahaba had a solid point, as nice as you had been, the rest of them did not know whether to trust you. They had experienced firsthand how terrible girls cast by their captain could be, and even though it had been years, they never interacted with them. What were they supposed to do?
But the anger towards his friend was greater than the feeling of discomfort.
"Hey! I have no information about her other than assumptions, and to win this, I need your help. " Oikawa explained in a tantrum crossing his arms.
They saw how you returned to the table with several plates, so Yahaba and Mattsun were the first to get up to help.
Although you were a few steps away, Oikawa's intention to help you was genuine, but he stopped when he heard Iwaizumi say "Idiot."
"Huh?" you asked turning to the emerald eye guy "Everything okay?"
"You don't have to pay for all this-" Watari kindly suggested followed by Iwaizumi.
"We just want to emphasize to our dear captain what an idiot he is," Hanamaki said before going for the first bite of him.
"Nothing new," Kindaichi agreed, wanting to join.
"And the truth is, you make us question your tastes" Mattsun turned to you, shrugging.
Oikawa was starting to regret bringing in the most irritating people he knew, especially that for some reason he wasn't liking how particularly interested they were in you.
Your eyes narrowed at the statements of his friends.
"How many gifts have you lost?" Makki inquired.
"No, she has the face of writing letters" continued Kunimi, unbothered.
Oikawa didn't miss your face turning red, but ...
The team's comments weren't bad, however anger quickly filled your veins. Were you supposed to be sorry that you liked him?
You knew they weren't bad people but maybe you also felt that in a certain way they wanted to find common ground with the fangirls. You didn't know them, but you hated it when people made suppositions about you.
"What if-"
"Just because I’m attracted to your friend it does not mean i have him on a pedestal" you said voice down and closing your eyes. In a certain way, it was adorable.
Oikawa opened his mouth in surprise and silence appeared, leaving everyone shocked. But the setter wasn't upset, it was the first time that he actually didn't have a posture of… you.
Makki started clapping as she laughed and Iwaizumi raised an eyebrow: "Then why is it 'drawn to you'?"
Oikawa saw how apparently his best friend had also noticed the word you used, expectantly, Oikawa fixed his gaze on you.
As his brown eyes connected with yours, the nerves did not take long to appear in you.
“Somehow, Oikawa seems… interesting. Interesting people are my type. "
A sensation ran through Oikawa's body. He felt strangely good.
Interesting, in a way he is interesting.
Wait, why did Oikawa find the confession (y/n) made comforting? Why did he find some relief in the fact that the girl couldn't even see him like everyone else did?
He shook his head.
"Hey, that was mine!" you said while you watched as OIkawa stole one of your rolls with his chopsticks.
Before you could do anything, the boy had already put it in his mouth laughing at how you rolled your eyes.
"I have a question dear gambling girl" Oikawa blurted out as they walked out of the restaurant.
The meal had been uneventful after your confession, so after paying for dinner, Oikawa made sure to keep up with you as his team went ahead to leave.
"I hope I have an answer" you answered, taking your school bag, arranging unruly hair behind your ear at the same time taking a few steps ahead of him, because you did not want him to see your face afraid of the question.
"Why put up with something that bothers you so much, in this case strangers, just to get a date with me?"
Oikawa saw your hands tangle with each other many times, your eyes focused on him, and not to mention many other things.
You stopped in your tracks, already being outside the local, you actually had many answers for that, but none seemed correct.
You saw how his friends were waiting for him on the sidewalk, and you remembered that it really wasn't as bad as you expected.
You brought your hand to your chin and after a few seconds looking at the floor, the most obvious answer came to you.
"Well, each victory requires their sacrifice" you said, putting your hand to the cack of your neck and smiling genuinely.
Oikawa's expression radically changed to a softer one.
And as Tooru watched your figure walk away, waving goodbye, he chuckled.
"I guess at least we'll get along." he whispered.
And then Iwaizumi smiled.

I Don't Like You | Hanamaki Takahiro x Reader!
Word count: 5,462
Relationships: Hanamaki Takahiro x reader (enemies to...) Oikawa Tooru x reader, Iwaizumi Hajime x reader and Matsukawa Issei x reader (all platonic)
Another day, another class, another occasion for Hanamaki Takahiro to disrupt it with the ruckus he and his best friend Matsukawa had going on at the back of the classroom. You rolled your eyes.
You’ve known the strawberry blonde ever since middle school. He was slightly popular with being on the volleyball team and everyone saw some sort of charisma in him that you failed to appreciate. To you, he was just a class clown who liked attention. An insufferable, dumb jock.
Then you were first year highschoolers. You almost cried while you read the lists of your assigned homerooms when you stumbled upon his name. One thing was just bearing with him in the hallways, but now he was your classmate?
“Sorry, my bad. Dude, stop fucking pushing me.” He absentmindedly apologized to you as his dark haired friend nudged him to make way to the front line before the bulletin board.
“How?” You heard Iwaizumi exclaim.
“Did you two bribe the principal or something?” Oikawa chuckled. “How is it that you ended up in the advanced courses?”
“What? What are you talking about? We wouldn’t be so dumb to do that.”
“Well, apparently you aren’t as dumb as to not make it into first class.”
“No wonder we couldn’t find ourselves anywhere else.”
“I heard the advanced English teacher is hell.” some other student said, and they picked it up.
“Oi, is that true?” Matsukawa asked warily.
“A lot of people have said that. They said a lot of upperclassmen used to complain about her.”
“But-But these are optional right? You can change to regular classes if you don’t like where they placed you.” Hanamaki asked not so confident.
“Sure. But you can validate these as college courses. If you plan to go.” Hajime explained. “You should give it a try either way.”
“If by midterms you’re failing you could switch up. Or find a tutor.” Oikawa advised.
“How is it that you’ve been in advanced courses all this time? Honestly, I never saw you as the smart type outside of a volleyball court.” Oikawa was triggered and offended, to say the least.
“FYI, I’m very smart. Also I work hard and that pays off.” He adjusted his glasses.
“And y/n has saved his ass countless times.” Added Iwaizumi knowingly.
“Y/n?” Hanamaki asked curiously, “That name rings a bell. Is it that nerdy girl with glasses who makes out everyone else is stupid and thinks she’s hot shit?”
“No. How dare you confuse my sweet y/n with that meanie. She’s bitter because y/n always beats her and is first in our class. Wait, there she is. Y/n-chan!” Oikawa called out to you and Hanamaki followed his gaze ‘til he met a girl: average height, long, wavy black hair, cinnamon kissed skin, full lips, small nose and dark eyes. You smiled at Oikawa and at Iwaizumi who was by his side. But when your eyes landed on him and Mattsun you became serious.
“Huh. Smart, pretty too. But, ” Matsukawa said, looking at you as you made your way over to them. “she looks quite scary.”
“She can be.” Iwaizumi agreed, “but she’s good.”
“How is a shrimp scary?” Hanamaki snorted, making fun of his friends.
“Who are you calling shrimp, My Melody?” you bit back.
“Oh.”  Yeah, Mattsun still found you scary.
“Just so you know, that’s a compliment.” He smirked at you. “Bad bitches look good in pink.”
“Okaaay off to a rough start I see.” Oikawa made a survey of the situation. “Y/n, you’re making me look bad.”
“Huh, I thought that was just how you looked.” Iwaizumi pondered, making you laugh. Okay, she laughs, Makki thought.
Oikawa glared at his spiky haired best friend “Whatever.” He plastered a smile on his face addressing you, “I wanted to officially present to you some new classmates.” He gestured towards the duo, “Meet-“
“Hanamaki Takahiro.” He cut Oikawa off.
“Matsukawa Issei.” followed the tall, black haired boy, throwing an arm over the former’s shoulders.
“Oh I know you two.”
“Keeping tabs about us?”
“Rather staying clear of you.”
“Tōru, I think your friend chose to be sour today.”
“I… Hope we can get along. Someday.” Matsukawa said awkwardly.
Back to the present, you were now in your last semester as second years and to your surprise he’d managed to stay in the group - barely making it yet somehow- and you still thought the same way about him.
“Is there something you two want to share with the class, Mr. Hanamaki and Mr. Matsukawa?”
“Uh, not really, sir. You see, this is a private conversation.” Takahiro answered, gesturing between Mattsun and himself.
“Then why don’t you take your private conversation to somewhere more private, like the principal’s office?” The teacher said.
“I wouldn’t want to bother the principal, sir.” You noticed how the rest of the class held back their smiles. Your teacher sighed, asking for patience from the heavens to deal with a brat.
“Alright. I'll humor you too. In fact, class, thanks to Hanamaki you’re all to hand over the exercises from pages 67 to 72 in their entirety. They’ll be part of your grade for a surprise test.” If anyone had a trace of a smile on their face it had vanished now, and the entire class erupted in complaints, some throwing nasty looks at the culprit, remarkably his other two friends. Iwaizumi and Oikawa turned on their seats and muttered something to him.
“Nice job, dumbass.”
You gathered your things when the teacher dismissed the class. In fact, you just had to review your notes and the material from your textbook. You had already done the exercises from the workbook in advance, given that March was approaching and with it your finals. You had tons of homework assigned already, and you didn’t like to pile them up.
“Y/n-chan.” You heard his singsong voice. Almost everyone had left the room besides the four volleyball team players and you. The teacher had held Makki and Matssun back to reprimand them.
“Let me guess. You want the answers to the exercises.” You told Oikawa knowingly.
“I don’t think the answers will be enough.”  Oikawa grimaced. “I would like to understand what he’s talking about if he’s going to make us pass a test.”
You smiled a bit amused, “So, study session?”
“Of course! Have I told you you’re an angel?
“Yes, you have. Every time you use flattery to make up for what you asked.” Iwaizumi looked at him disgustingly.
“I don’t know, she seems more like a demon to me.”  Hanamaki shared as he walked over to the rest of you, Matsukawa following him.
You glared at him before dismissing his comment and addressing Iwaizumi, “You’re joining?”
“Uh- Sure. I could use a little help too.” He gave you a small smile, feeling a little embarrassed.
“Oh you’re making a study group?” Mattsun asked, interested. Makki wished he could take back his latest comment. While Oikawa saw the opportunity and grasped it. Hajime saw his intentions clear in the brunette’s eyes.
‘Oh, yes! It’s perfect. Why don’t we all study together?” He suggested. It was a great plan where you could sort things out with both class and Hanamaki. It was hard for him that his friends didn’t get along -for whatever the reason was- when you spent most of your days together during class and rather often outside. He could try to make Makki be a little gentler with you and if he managed to convince Hajime to do the same with you he was sure it’ll work out.
“Uh I don’t know…” you looked over indiscreetly at Hanamaki.
Makki was about to respond “Wait. Me? With you?” He made a face. As much as he could use your help he’d rather die on the spot than asking you. But Tooru kicked him slightly, making him yelp in surprise, stopping him from finishing whatever he planned to say. “Okay, okay. If you don’t mind.” He muttered throwing foul looks at Oikawa.
It was Monday, the volleyball club’s day of rest, so the group walked together straight to your house when school was over. You walked ahead with Iwaizumi, the air still cold in the mid February twilight. Your cheeks were turning slightly rosy, and you could see your breath when you exhaled. You wished you had brought your scarf.
As you all agreed to stop at a coffee shop, Oikawa threw a look at Makki and gestured something before he left with Hajime to order. He didn’t understand what the former wanted, “What?” he mouthed.
Tooru almost groaned. This is why girls say chivalry is dead.
Matsukawa picked up the message instead. “Here.” He said, getting your attention. Taking off his black scarf, he didn’t lose time to gently place it around your neck, not giving you any time to protest nor reject his gesture.
“Thanks.” You welcomed in the warmth the soft fabric brought, and Mattsun took that as a win. Sure, he’d felt that during the past months you had at least become acquaintances and had been polite to each other. Things between you weren’t as hostile as when it came to Hanamaki, who finally rolled his eyes as he understood what the brunette meant. He’d lost the opportunity. Mattsun gave him a sorry look, but soon Makki brushed it off. Why did he have to be nice to you when you were the one who acted like you had a stick up your ass every time you were around him? He never did anything to you.
“We’’ll go to my room so as not to disrupt my parents.”
“Is your mom home? I'd like to greet her.” Your mom had already met Oikawa by the countless times he’d been over. She loved him and needless to say she would plan your wedding if you so much as told her you liked him. But to her dismay you were just friends. Your dad didn’t like him though. He said pretty boys like him must be looking to break your heart. Also Tooru was scared of him.
“She’ll be here later.” You told him as you guided them through the hallway and to your room.
“Would like to know where she gets her attitude from.” Makki said under his breath.
“Oikawa would say from his dad because he doesn’t like him.” Hajime confided and they snickered, making fun of the brunette.
Tooru sneezed, then turned to both of them at the same time you did, “What are you two going on about?”
“Nothing.”
You had gone out of the room for a moment, telling the boys to make themselves comfortable, feeling a little mortified to let into your house and into your room a boy you supposedly hated his guts.
Oikawa jumped in your bed while Iwaizumi got your desk chair, and Mattsun sat on a bean bag chair on the floor. Hanamaki inspected your room, seeing several posters of your favorite musicians, a CD player laying on your bed that Oikawaa had grabbed, bookshelves, drawings on top of your desk, pictures - Mostly of landscapes but there were also family pictures . He recognized you with Iwaizumi and Tooru on a couple -, some paintings on the wall and some on the floor waiting to be hanged.
“It’s a nice bedroom.” he commented, and everything was going fine, until he opened his mouth again, “I remember this girl that took me over to her place and she had this collection of creepy porcelain dolls on one big shelf that covered the wall opposite her bed. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get i-”
“Okay,” you came back in time to cut him off, carrying another bean bag chair in for him, “Thanks for the compliment on my room but I don’t need to hear that.”
“Right. Sorry. Forgot you probably have never gotten laid, or either kissed someone.”
“Ugh, Makki, please shut the fuck up.” Oikawa shook his head and Hajime brushed a hand down his face. He was unbelievable.
“Not that is any of your business, but I do have kissed someone.” You said calmly as you took your notebooks out of your bag and sat next to Oikawa.
“That’s a shocker. Who?” He said, plopping down on the chair as he finished his tea.
“Why do you care?” You raised a brow and Oikawa smiled down at his hands. In any other moment he would be harassing you about the subject in question to know but he was being real quiet.
“I don’t but since you’re dropping information like that you could just share the whole thing.” He shrugged. “Does he go to Seijoh too?”
“Yes.”
“And?”
“And what?”
He smirked, as if realizing something, “Nah, wait. Bet it was some weird ugly ass kid and that’s why you don’t want to tell.”
Now if he wasn’t able to speak, you four would’ve witnessed a miracle that evening, “Excuse you?! Who the hell you dare call ugly. If I may say I’m the prettiest male in the room.” Oikawa came clean and you smacked him right in his chest so hard he lost his breath for a moment.
“Oh great.” you muttered, a hand covering your face.
“No fucking way.” Makki started with a chuckle, staring at Oikawa incredulously.
“You didn’t know?!” Mattsun asked Iwaizumi given his expression.
Hajime shook his head, “No wonder you weren’t curious.”
“Really? This guy?” Matsukawa continued.
“What does that mean?” Oikawa whined.
“Fine. We were in middle school and were what? 15?”
“Yeah I had just turned 15. And you were still 13.” Oikawa smiled as he recalled.
“So you dated?”
“Not really. We’ve always been good friends. It just happened, everyone was doing it and we wanted to know what it was like.”
“We just figured at that moment that if we wanted to have our first kiss there wasn’t anyone better than us.” You chuckled, flustered. It was a little embarrassing, and you basically had forgotten what led you to this conversation.
“Wait, so,” Hanamaki kept in interrogation mode, “you haven’t kissed anyone else since him?”
“No.” you shook your head, “What are we doing? What am I doing? Grab your notes and let’s start studying.”
*
Spring brought new beginnings, a gentler breeze, slowly beginning to bid farewell to winter with soft sunny days and much livelier nights.
Your eyes captured the pretty pink veil made out of cherry blossom trees, which flowers rained down as their branches danced with the gusts of wind. It was very romantic walking under the pink snow.
Hanamaki was walking to school that morning when he saw you as he turned in the curve and got to the main road. He didn’t live far from your house, so sometimes - when he wasn’t late- he saw you. The couple of times you’d noticed him, you’d just nodded in acknowledgment and continued your way, walking with him just a few steps back. He wondered if he should greet you. Thinking about that time at your house it wasn’t that bad between you two. Hopefully you might think the same.
He debated with himself and at the end chose to go for it, words dying in his mouth when he saw you stop to take pictures. Makki wondered how many cherry blossoms were in your camera roll by now. He waited as to not interrupt you, and that’s when it happened. He saw you slip as you were about to resume walking, and before he knew it he was running to catch you, under the risk of slipping on the blossoms himself and breaking something.
You had screamed and closed your eyes tightly, accepting your fate, but the fall didn’t come. Instead, you felt a pair of arms engulfing you in a secure grip. You opened one of your eyes and were met with a worried Hanamaki looking down on you. “You okay?”  Having not recovered your speech yet, you nodded hastily. Then, grinning, “Falling for me?”
“Shut up.” There it was. “Going to help me stand up?” you shrieked as he made it to let go of you while he laughed.
“You really thought I would drop you after all?” Some of the flowers had gotten on his hair. He did as you said when you just remained silent looking up at him and his smile, and got you back on both feet safely.
“You could’ve hurt yourself.” You said, avoiding looking at him.
“So you mean to say I was supposed to let you fall?”  you shrugged and he scoffed. Makki took a look at you: your hair had gotten a bit messier, hands buried in the pockets of your jacket, expression serious and rosy cheeks. He wouldn’t lie, he thought you looked cute. “Or by any chance you’re worrying about me?”
“I’m not.” you quickly protested, frowning. “But I don’t want to be the reason you miss volleyball club.”
“Of course. It’s just that.” He raised a brow, amused as you nodded along. You still weren’t looking at him. “A “thank you” would’ve been enough for me.”
“Thanks.”
“You’re very welcome.” he smiled, pleased, but it quickly vanished as you turned to keep walking. “Wait, hey- Wait up!” He hurried to fall into step with you, careful not to slip, “We can walk to school together since we’re here.”
“No, thanks.” you spoke back to him.
“I thought we just had a moment back there.” he gave you a side look. “And back at your house you had to admit it wasn’t so bad.”
“Yeah, after I cut you off before you could talk about sex.”
“Jealous?”
“Ugh, this is what I’m talking about.” you stopped and turned to him, irritation clear on your voice and in your features. “You’re so unserious. “I’ll be surprised if you actually cared about something.”
A look crossed his eyes you couldn’t quite grasp. Did it actually hurt him what you said? No, whatever you said couldn’t possibly matter to him. You continued walking, thinking he wouldn’t say anything but then he spoke up, “Okay, you can think whatever you want. Even if you barely know me.”
When you reached the school gates, he spoke up again, “Honestly, I think you could be nice. Maybe if you weren’t so worried about everything and guarded all the time… I don’t know. I think you could use some unseriousness.” Then he went ahead, leaving you to take a deep breath to get your cool back and reflect on what he had just said.
Maybe… Maybe you’ve gone a little too far.
*
It was the day of the opening ceremony and you were about to begin your last year of high school.
“Oi! Sour Patch kid.” You heard him call you by that nickname he’d picked for you. Makki was waiting for you at the entrance of the hall. Ever since that conversation you had, your behaviour around him had improved. He wondered if it had something to do with whatever he might’ve said - he’d forgotten most of it by now-. But he wasn’t complaining, and neither were the rest of the boys. At least now you could stand in a room without throwing comments at each other. It was a sort of silent truce.
“Where are the others?” You asked, looking around for them. Still, it felt awkward to be left alone with him.
“Oikawa was held back somewhere by a bunch of girls and Hajime went to the rescue. Mattsun is saving our seats.” You nodded.
“They let you inside like that?” You signaled.
“Oh. That. We avoid the principal and the teachers.” He shrugged. He gave a step back and threw his hands up as you stepped over to him. “Woah, what the hell are you doing?”
“You could at least button up your shirt.” You started to fix it up for him under his nervous gaze. “And where is your tie?”
“I didn’t- I didn’t bring one.” He stuttered an answer and you shook your head.
You fixed his collar without it. “There. Looks much better now at least.” You smiled, satisfied with your work, until you looked up at him. He was staring at you intently. You hadn’t removed your hands from his shoulders.
“Sorry for being late!” Oikawa shouted and sighed as if he had been running for miles, breaking whatever spell you had fallen under and startling you both, “What were you two doing?”
“Waiting for you. What else?” You crossed your arms defensively.
“Did our homeroom teacher see you?” Iwaizumi said to Makki and snorted. “You look like a model student for once.”
When you three walked inside, Mattsun waved you over. “Makki, you look… pink. And I’m not talking about your hair.” He spoke to his best friend who was blushing furiously.
*
One of your new teachers had thought that by moving Makki to another seat far from Mattsun or the other boys she was doing something. What she didn’t know was that the strawberry blonde was capable of making conversation with almost anyone.
“From now on you’ll sit next to y/n.”  Your eyes widened and you gave her a pleading look. She glanced at you understandingly yet you could see her asking for your cooperation. Mattsun looked dramatically devastated as Hanamaki grabbed his stuff and switched places with the boy beside you. Iwaizumi and Tooru looked at each other. Things were either very convenient or about to go to hell.
“Hello, partner.” He smiled at you while you merely gave him a look before turning your attention back to the lecture as the teacher took over where she had left. Hanamaki then attempted to start a conversation with the guys sitting behind you, yet they seemed a little apathetic. Turning to his side, his intentions were quickly discarded. No way in hell he was speaking to that Yui girl. So he propped his head in his hand as he tried to keep his attention on what the teacher was saying.
After she gave the instructions for the day’s class work, you started to complete it diligently. By your side, Makki looked over at the board, then back to his notebook, turning his pencil on his hand and back again. To be honest, he had no clue about what he was supposed to do, yet he gave it a go. You threw glances now and then to your right, and seeing him erase something for nearly like the tenth time, you spoke, “Do you need help?” Iwaizumi perked up at the sound of your voice and nudged Oikawa, pointing towards you two.
“Me? No. I’’m doing great. Easy.”  Oikawa smacked himself on the face.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, just… Peachy.”
“Okay.” You went back to your notebook. Glancing around as lost as he was, he looked back again: notebook, board, you.
He sighed, “Okay, I lied.” he admitted, “ I could use a little help.”
You did the rest of the work together while you explained it to him. Makki swore no one had ever explained to him something as easy as you made it seem. Every day during that class you two worked seamlessly together, and needless to say everyone was surprised, and each time Hanamaki caught himself staring at you more. Noticing your small smiles, the small frown etched on your face as you focused, how you pushed your hair back from falling over your notebook until you gave up and tied it up in a messy bun instead, how you explained the things he didn’t understand.
One day during practice, Mattsun caught him staring at you while you chatted with Oikawa sitting on the benches. The setter had sprained his ankle and was out until he recovered. They had a practice match soon, so his mood wasn’t the best, but you keeping him company kept his thoughts from spiraling. He laughed at something you said, making you smile.
“You think Oikawa might like y/n?” Makki found himself asking as they practiced underhand passes.
Hajime, who had paired with Kyōtani and was beside them, snorted, “He’s simping over his girlfriend so that’s out of the question.”
“Didn’t they break up?” Mattsun asked.
“Almost. They’ve been arguing a lot lately.” Iwaizumi clarified, then turned to Makki, “Why do you ask anyway?”
“Unbelievable.” Matsukawa let the ball drop, “You like her.”
“Doesn’t she hate him?” Kyōtani brought up and the trio stared at him.
“Of course I don’t. That's ridiculous.” He brushed Matsukawa’s statement off as if it was the most absurd thing he’d ever heard. “And you,” he pointed at Kentarō, “are wrong. We hate each other.”
“Oi! I’m still here and watching you all. Why are you stopping? Quit gossiping and get back to practice!” The captain yelled at them. “We have to crush Karasuno with or without me. But hopefully with me.”  You shook your head as he smiled, pleased with simply the idea.
“Hate each other my ass.” Matsukawa called him out, “You’re always searching for her.”
“That’s not true.”
“So you fell for her but she hates you?”
“Shut the fuck up, Kyōtani.”
“What if I don’t?”
“Well things have gotten better between you two but I can’t say from her part.” Iwaizumi thought.
“Y/n/n,” Oikawa started, his demeanor changing all of a sudden, “Do you think I’m a shitty person?”
“What? Of course not!” you laughed, yet you were confused, “What made you even think that?”
“I don’t know.” He was looking down, fidgeting with his hands. Suddenly he resembled a little boy being lectured, “The way I act sometimes…”
“That doesn’t make you a shitty person, Tōru. It just makes you a human being.” you smiled at him even though he wasn’t looking at you, “And I don’t think you really hate Tobio or Ushijima. You two just have this rivalry and it’s because you care so much for what you do. Well that’s how I see it. You’re great, don’t let anyone make you believe you aren’t.”
He nodded, finally turning to look at you with a smile. “Do you know I love you?”
“I love you too, stupid.” You laughed as he threw himself at you and kissed your cheek, “Be careful.” Then he laid his head on your lap and you brushed his hair as he looked up at you. “How’s stuff with Aoi?” His girlfriend that clearly disliked you.
He sighed, “We’re back talking but… She’s being distant.” He feared she might break up with him after all. “But let’s not talk about that.”
“Then what?” you said expectantly.
“How about you and Makki?”
“What about him?” you looked over to the court and your eyes found him.
“You don’t seem to hate him as much.” He chose his words carefully.
“I don’t.” And that was what he called progress. “I still think he’s weird and a pain in the ass though.” But remember: don’t count your wins too soon.
“You’re not exactly the definition of normal.” you smacked him and he laughed.
“Neither are you.”
“Thanks.”  . . . “But do you find him attractive?”
“What are you on now?” you said with a scandalous face that wasn’t not funny, but you were blushing. Oikawa took that as a yes.
“Nothing. I was just asking.”
“I don’t like him if that’s what you’re assuming. And I’m sure he doesn’t like me either.”
“Want me to ask him?”
“No. What for?”
*
Next morning, you were a sight (not in a good way). Somehow, Hanamaki Takahiro had made his way into your dreams, startling you awake in the dead of the night. After that, you tossed and turned but weren’t able to go back to sleep. Finally, you had lost it, you thought. You blamed Oikawa’s absurd questions.
“Are you okay?” The brunette dared to ask when he saw you, “You look a little…”
“You look terrible.” Hanamaki cut him off bluntly. You glared at both boys, and they backed off as you walked by over to your seat.
Iwaizumi smacked both on the back of their heads, following you. “Way to go, idiots.”
Needless to say, during class you were struggling to not doze off. After doing a pretty good job during morning periods, it was during your last class that you finally succumbed. Thankfully, since Iwaizumi was sitting in front of you, the teacher couldn’t notice from his spot in front of the class.
Makki was sitting next to you too, and when he glanced your way he found you asleep. His gaze became softer seeing your relaxed features, your head lying on one of your arms folded on top of your desk.
Later at home when you sat at your desk and took your things out of your bag to begin your study session, something slipped out from between your notebooks. Stranged, you picked it up, and saw the note stuck to the papers. “Notes from litt. class. Get some proper rest later. No use messing with someone who can’t talk back.” - Hanamaki
You read the words over and over, and you couldn’t help but smile a bit.
*
“It’s weird, y/n’s still not here.” Iwaizumi mentioned. The day of the practice match had come, and you were always there early to wish them good luck before you went to find a seat at the stands.
“There’s still a few minutes.” Mattsun allowed. “Makki’s not even here yet.”
Aoi had come to see Oikawa and he’d gone out of the locker room for a moment to meet her before the match, otherwise he would be complaining about your unusual tardiness. He certainly would later.
You were hurrying towards the gym at the same time the other team arrived and was about to go inside, getting the attention of some of them. “Look, it seems like Seijoh got a cute manager too since the last time we met.”
You were wearing your PE tracksuit pants with the school t-shirt so thinking back you should’ve known that was what caused the misunderstanding. A dark haired boy you recognized as the libero stood in front of you.
“Hey there, Miss manager.” He gave you a smile.
“Hello,” you started politely yet the look in your eyes showed you were confused, “Manager? I’m sorry I’m not-”
“What’s your name?” He barely let you get a word in. The captain was about to interfere, knowing where things were going but Sugawara stopped him.
“I’m Y/n. But I’m not-”
“Are you going out with someone?”
You shook your head, “I-”
“Sorry, man, she has a boyfriend.” your eyes went wide, as you heard none other than Makki - who was late- speak up. Standing now behind you, he leaned down to press a kiss to your cheek, leaving your cheeks burning, “You okay, love?”  Love?  Then he looked over at the boys seriously.
Sugawara snorted.
“Boyfriend?!” You two bursted into the locker room. “What the hell was that?!”
“Well, it worked. None of them will bother you now.” He seemed amused rather than bothered by what he just did unlike before when he saw that guy flirting with you, although he was blushing too now that you came into the room with some of the boys still inside shouting about what happened. Being a sweetheart, as always, he thought.
“You do tell, please.” Matsukawa smirked, “What are you two lovers quarrelling about now?”
“Your friend just told the whole Karasuno team we’re a couple.”
“What the hell made you do that?” Iwaizumi asked before he started laughing. His friend was an idiot.
“Same thing I’m asking.”
“Some guy was bothering her so I told them we’re together to get him and anyone else off her.”  which Mattsun translated as I was jealous in his head as he looked at him biting his tongue to not call him out on his bullshit.
“They found out before me?!” Oikawa screamed by the door, entering the room.
“It’s not true!”
“Not yet.” Mattsun muttered to himself, “But you’ll have to play along, right? Otherwise they’ll think you’re both liars.” Speaking up as a proper best friend and wing man.
“What?” you looked at him, then towards the strawberry blonde, “It’s not like they’ll be paying me much attention.”
“But my girlfriend should cheer for me.” He shrugged his shirt off and you looked away, flustered,  while he put on his uniform. Then he grabbed the extra one he had and threw it your way.  His club shirt. With his name, and the number three stamped on both sides.
“How are you so calm about this?” You stared at the piece of fabric, then nervously up at him. “Everyone at school will think we’re together. Are you really okay with that?”
“I don’t care what they think. Do you?”
A/N: Another example of terrible fic names for you! First time writing for my Seijoh boys. Oh I love them so much and hope you like the interactions between them and with y/n. Was going through Makki brainrot again back in December but also had to show some love to my Oiks <3. Also this had like 5 extra pages on my docs. buuut I wasn't entirely sure with how it was going and I still don't get a good scene to end this story lol. Until next time! -Youmarin

- Y’all definitely drive to Tokyo just to go to the Tokyo Disneyland, and it’s hilarious. Iwaizumi definitely booked the tickets there since you and Oikawa have no idea what you guys are doing.
- It’s literally just you and Oikawa running around while Iwaizumi moms you and apologizes to the people for scaring their kids.
- Y’all go on all the rides, Oikawa’s lowkey scared but he’s not telling you guys that?? Hell no that’s a recipe for disaster.
- “That one let’s go on that one next!” You say pointing to the largest ride on the entire amusement park, eyes gleaming in anticipation.
- Did I mention mom-Iwa?
- “Nope,” he says popping the P, “We’re eating lunch first,” Iwaizumi drags a pale Oikawa away from the ride as you follow behind.
- You make them go on all of the rides with you because 1. Oikawa’s reactions are hilarious. 2. It was really hard to book a day off for the both of them so you’re making the best out of time y’all have.
- Okay clown Oikawa all you want but he definitely wins a stuffed animals despite yours and Iwa’s doubts and does not share with you guys.
- “Iwa! Oikawa won’t share his giant stuffed bear,” You whine and grab your mom-friend’s arms shaking it like a small kid.
- “I think someone lost their child,” “IWA YOU CANT SAY THINGS LIKE THAT” “I’m sorry did you lose your mom?”
- After the teasing Iwaizumi gets you a stuffed animal because you’re literally on your knees begging for it and it’s embarrassing.
- Oikawa clowns you but instantly stops when Iwaizumi wins you an even bigger stuffed animal and you boast about it.
- “Iwa-chan you never win prizes for—” “Shut up you got your own prize I don’t wanna hear it.”
- Honestly you both would’ve have been lost without Iwaizumi so kudos to him 😔✊
- Actually, you did get lost and no it wasn’t Iwa’s fault it was Oikawa’s.
- “You dumbass you had one job and it was to not lose her!”
- “In my defence she looked very similar to another girl and I just assumed that was her!”
- They’re freaking out but eventually find a guy flirting and has you caged between him and a wall.
- They’re instantly in defensive mode and you’ve never seen them run faster in your entire life.
- Clearly you haven’t seen Oikawa’s level of thirst for Iwa yet
- So you’re kind of just standing there, awkwardly turning away from the dude because you’re clearly n o t i n t e r e s t e d
- You’re about to push him away when he’s basically ripPED off of you, and you’re pulled away from the wall and into someone’s arms.
- “Are you okay? He didn’t touch you did he?” Oikawa asks looking at you with concern written all over his face, you pause before nodding informing him you were fine.
- Iwa on the other hand is pissed as fuck, and is now going off on the dude who had you against the wall.
- “Listen bud, you touch her again and I’ll...”
- Oikawa covers your ears to prevent you from hearing the rest of Iwaizumi’s very vulgar and violent threat.
- Other than that though you guys have a lot of fun! Hanging with these two, you’re bound to have a blast.
- At the end of the day, you guys watch the fireworks with a blanket. Sure, the view isn’t spectacular because Oikawa had to go to the bathroom thus leading you guys to have a crappy spot, it was still nice.
- “Woah, they’re beautiful.” “They’d be prettier if Shittykawa just used the bathroom before.” “LISTEN—”
- All in all though, you guys ended up having tons of fun and lots of memories were made.

mafia!oikawa & surgeon!reader. brain fart. v v self-indulgent.
Tumblr media
a mafia!oikawa au where he actually needs to get surgery for sth but he always postpones this surgery cus he ‘never has the time’ but one day he drops down weak with a fever in his office and iwa is there to help him up and rush him to the hospital along w makki and mattsun.
they go to the one where surgeon!y/n works at and when they rush in, you’re coincidentally by the lobby speaking to the admin and you’re already asking the nurses to help you bring oiks onto a bed, checking his vitals and asking iwa for any information you need to know.
you find out oiks has been postponing a very urgent surgery and you just so happen to be a surgeon for that specific injury so you immediately call for an operation on the spot. iwa, makki and mattsun are shocked and they kinda interrogate you at first but you look at them dead in the eye and tell them that if you don’t do something now, it’ll be much harder to revive oiks and they’re running out of choices anyway, so you’re off to the operating room with your first assistant nurse and the other assistants to help out.
while you’re operating on oiks, iwa, mattsun and makki can’t help but watch through the windows because hes the fucking boss of their gang. they can’t just loose him. the three waiting outside are literally in awe of the way you operate and control the room, with such quick-thinking, grace and wisdom. and it kinda reminds them of somebody they know too well. when the surgery finishes, the nurses bring oiks to the icu and you go to tell the three that oiks condition could’ve been worse and that it was good they were quick enough to send him to the hospital. when oikawa wakes up, iwa and you are beside him, and oiks tells you that he’s forever in your debt and that you can call him whenever you need help.
it’ll have been a month since the surgery and one day, you’re told you have to move to the main hospital in the city and you’re shocked. you needed to support your family in town, your parents were too old. it would be difficult to balance the time for them and for work to make money. and your friends at the hospital too! the nurses, the other doctors, the staff, you’d miss them dearly. it made your heart ache.
you try pleading to the president of the hospital but he says it was an order from one of the chairmen who knew of your reputation in the town and made the bold suggestion to request your transfer to the main hospital. you find out that your incredible skills and quick-witted mind convinced the chairman. he wanted a doctor like you at the main hospital.
but when oikawa hears about this, he’s furious, how dare they order the doctor who saved his life like that? without her consent as well? completely unprofessional. he’s seething through his teeth as he receives the news from makki who visited the hospital earlier for a dental check up. so oikawa lets this chairman know how much you are needed at this hospital in town.
lets just say, makki and mattsun handle that part :) and when it comes down to your ‘last day’ at the hospital, you walk out of the lobby to see oikawa and his men, standing in front of their luxury cars with the headlights on to greet you.
you’re holding your bag with an expressionless look on your face before you realise that oikawa and what it seems like, his ‘friends,’ are waiting outside for you.
oikawa moves closer to you and you take that as a sign to walk to him as well. you greet him kindly, a cute tinge of pink on your face due to the cold weather and oikawa smiles. “doctor. you are here to stay.” and he hands you this envelope with a document inside, stamped by the main hospital’s crest and it says that the decision to move you to the main hospital has been withdrawn.
you can’t believe your eyes. you’re just a regular doctor. what was so special about your operation on oikawa that he helped you with sth like this?? you were just doing your job. you can’t even seem to find the words to say thank you. you just look up at oikawa with the most bewildered expression that it amuses him, and you hear the faint voices of your friends exiting the hospital through the automatic doors.
tears are threatening to fall, your heart swells as you stare up at oikawa, thanking him through your eyes and he sees it, nodding his head lightly as an acknowledgement. and you turn around, your friends are calling out your name and asking you who those guys are. but you ignore their questions, pulling them all into one hug as you announce that you can stay.
they’re just as shocked as you. they were prepared to have the last round of beer with you tonight but it seems that it won’t actually ever be the last. you show them the document and they see that, oh shit, its actually really fucking official that you get to stay. so all of you end up literally in tears together, a whole ass sob festival but its alright because you get to stay. you can’t even wait to see your patients faces when you tell them that your transfer was cancelled.
and while happy tears are streaming down your face, there is an applause that builds up for your little victory. its iwa, makki, mattsun, the other men and oikawa himself who clap for you, the best doctor in town.

2:13am
Tumblr media
The sky was dark, a well blended mix of purples, blues and grays painted behind the stars.
There was no light from the city tainting them from where you were, sat in the long since abandoned park you and your best friend Iwaizumi used to play at as kids. Smiling at the fond memories of you two and ‘Kawa pretending to get abducted by aliens or saving civilians from Godzilla almost every weekend as children.
The wind was crisp, and you were thankful for the hoodie Iwa had given you so long ago- you never planned on returning it anyways. The park was perched on top of a hill, trees had long since grown around it. It wasn’t a large park by any means, only consisting of a few swings and climbing toys, but it overlooked the city lights perfectly from its place on the hill- the same hill you all used to sled down when in snowed, or rolled down in the spring when the flowers were freshly bloomed, always laughing at each other when the pollen would cause any of you to sneeze.
It was quiet out, nearly 2am, the only sounds being the rustling of leaves and the loose chain link on the fence surrounding the park that you two had climbed to get in, moving in the wind.
Hours of laughter, inside jokes, stupid stories, and everything else hanging out with your best friends brought, metaphorically contained within the walls of the fence.
After nearly waiting an hour for the brunette setter, the sounds of muffled cursing, grunting and shuffling chain link caused you and Iwaizmui to turn your attention to the man himself- Oikawa Tooru- who was clearly struggling to hop over the fence with his arms full of a box- with text on the side that you couldn’t quite make out in the darkness.
Helping the poor boy over, his usual playful smile returned, with a devious glint hiding behind his eyes. Cocking an eyebrow and Iwa looking just as confused next to you, you two shared a glance before turning back to the setter, insisting he spill whatever mischievous plan he had.
Pulling out his phone and flipping the flashlight towards the box, you could finally make out what the side read:
⚠️ Danger: Fireworks inside!
You knew it was going to be an interesting night, as it always was with your best friends.
