Time to Go
Marinette had known since she was born that she was the only daughter of Bruce Wayne and Talia Al Ghul. She was also Damian's little sister, by three years.
When the strike on Ra's Al Ghul was taken, Talia quickly hid her away. Marinette knew her family's lives were on the line. She knew Damian would be on the front lines and prayed for his safe return. Although she knew she wasn't her grandfather's favorite, she still mourned his death. Damian seemed to take it especially hard.
Talia had told Marinette and Damian that they would be seperated for the time being. She needed Damian to go with his father to continue his training, while she picked up the pieces of the League.
"What about me, Mother?" Mari questioned.
"You will be on a mission, all of your own." Talia explained, "You're mission is to go undercover. You will act as a daughter of other people. This will keep you safe. Not many know of your existence, but I need to make sure all that wish to harm us, are gone."
"I do not approve of this." Damian snarled.
"I understand." Talia whispered, "I have folders for each of you with detailed instructions. Until you are in your new lodgings, you are not to open them."
Marinette nodded sadly and cried herself to sleep in her big brother's arms. She knew it would be a while before she saw him again. Talia gave them their moment. It hurt her dearly to tear her children apart, but Slade had to pay for his crimes. The League had to be rebuilt and become stronger than ever to give them both their inheritance. With Ra's gone, she would train Marinette to become as deadly as her, when she came of age.
Marinette smiled at the envelope in her hand.
'Another letter from mother. I wonder what my orders are this time.'
Marinette,
The time has come for your father to pick you up. He and Damian will pick you up in three days time. Prepare for his arrival.
Marinette smiled, happily. Lila had been a pain in the ass, as of late. Sabine and Tom took everything her so-called friends said at face value. They would laugh at the implications over dinner. Marinette would tell them all of the lies and how brainless the class truly was. They both knew that if Marinette was really bullying Lila, she could have done far worse. Tom and Sabine had disagreed with Adrien's decleration, but told Mairnette to keep the piece while they reached out to Talia. Only her mother's orders were absolute. If her mother said she could kill her, they wouldn't stand in her way.
"Maman. Papa." Marinette called out.
"So, what did the letter say this time?" Sabine asked.
"Father and Brother will be here in three days time to retrieve me." she answered.
"Well, let's start pulling you out of that horrible school and get ou all packed up." Tom laughed, "I'm sure they will be happy to see you."
'Damian, perhaps. Father; I don't know if he even knows of my existence. Surprise, Father.'
Bruce sighed, "What do you mean you have a sister?"
"It's just as I stated." Damian declared, "Mother has insisted it is safe to retrieve her."
"You've been talking to Talia?" Dick questioned.
"No." the young Wayne heir answered, "She gave us both instructions before we left."
Damian held up the letter.
"There are certain dates for me to open these letters." he explained, "Most of them coincide with our birthdays. Today is Marinette's; she turns fifteen."
"So where is she?" Jason asked.
"Paris, France." Damian stated, "She has been under watchful eyes and was assigned to live as a normal child. No assassin work. Grandfather wasn't too happy that he didn't have two grandsons. Mother taught her self-defense, but she helped out around, mostly as a servant. I was to ignore her if I saw her unless we were alone."
Bruce rubbed his head.
"I have already prepared another room, Sir." Alfred smiled.
"Please, don't let there be two of him." Tim pleaded as Bruce stood up and walked out of the cave to pack.
Marinette handed over her ledger of Lila Rossi to Bruce.
"The school needs to choose their staff more carefully." she spoke, "Tom and Sabine have tried stepping in with the Principal, but I bellieve the Board needs to know what is going on under their noses.
Bruce looked at it and quickly read through it.
"I agree." he snarled, "I'll be taking it with me to the board. I need to legally sign you out of that school, anyways."
Marinette turned to her brother and hugged him.
"I missed you." she whispered.
Damian said nothing, but held her close.
Tom and Sabine stood by as they watch the girl they help raise, reunite with her family. Marinette let go and realized they were holding something.
"We have a copy of all of the recipes we've made over the years." Sabine declared, "Both in the bakery and just for the house."
"Family eyes only." Tom smiled.
"Thank you." Marinette replied, taking it and holding it close to her chest.
"I will make sure it is handed over to our grandfather and he will keep it locked up and safe." Damian declared.
Tom and Sabine smiled.
"I need to take my stuff back to the school." Mari spoke up.
"Go." Damian replied, "Father should return soon. I will tell him where you are and we will meet you there. I will put your belongings in the car so we can leave immediately."
Marinette walked into class and handed her class books over to Ms. Bustier.
"Marinette, why-" Caline began to question.
"I resign as class president." Mari announced.
"What?" Caline whispered in shock.
"Marinette?" Adrien called out, "Are you okay?"
"Is this why you haven't been in school?" Alya asked.
Caline laughed awkwardly, "Marinette, I'm sure-"
"I will be leaving this school, as of today." she announced, leaving the class stunned.
"Oh, Marinette!" Lila called out, standing up, "Did I do something? I only wanted to be friends!"
"Yeah!" shouted Kim, "What the hell?"
"I'll be moving in with my birth father and older brother." Marinette stated, "Mother says it is time for me to go with them."
"Sabine kicked you out?" Adrien questioned, confused.
"Sabine and Tom are my guardians, not my parents." Mari declared, "My birth father listened to me. I have always had a keen eye for detail, as many of you know from asking me to design for them."
"Are you till going on about 'Lila stealing from you'?" Alya asked, "We know it was you who stole!"
Lila paled and sat back down in her seat.
'What?'
Marinette looked at Lila and smiled, "Why do you think Ms. Bustier doesn't want me to stop being class president? It's because I make detailed plans for all the school trips, fundraisers, plan the fire drills, and escape routes. I even know where everything in this school is, including the security cameras. I have kept a record of every lie you said sice you got here, where and when. My father turned the evidence over to the Board of Governers."
Lila's jaw dropped.
"If the cameras aren't working, then they'll just go after that gullible man. Pretty sure embezzlement won't keep him in position." Mari shrugged.
"Huh?" asked Nino.
"How many times do you think the mayor pays him to look the other way when Chloe's being a bitch?" Marinette declared.
"Excuse me!" Chloe shouted.
"Maybe Lila can lend you her hearing aids." Marinette retorted.
"This is why you're a bully." Alix glared at her.
Marinette simply smiled.
Bruce and Damian walked in. Chloe smoothed her clothes and fluffed her hair, quickly. She stood up and smiled.
"I'm-" She spoke.
"Your voice is like nails on a chalk board." Damian commanded, "Be silent."
Chloe closed her mouth and sat down in embarassment, leaving everyone speechless.
Marinette giggled, "You always did know how to make an entrance, Big Brother."
Chloe's jaw dropped.
'She's a Wayne!'
Marinette turned and smiled at Chloe, "Goodbye, Daddy's Little Princess." before turning back to her family, "Father, I am ready to return home."
"Very well." Bruce spoke.
All three of them left the class without another word. There was a lot they had to discuss. As far as Bruce knew, Marinette had no idea about him being Batman and Damian being Robin. She had grown up with some semblance of a normal life and he wanted to keep it that way.
The class looked at the door confused.
"Chloe?" whispered Sabrina.
"Shit!" Chloe screamed, slamming her fists onto the desk.
"Chloe, are you okay?" asked Kim.
"No!" she yelled back, "Do I look okay? So you know-You don't know who they are? Of course you Pea Brains, don't! That was Bruce and Damian Wayne. Which makes.....Baker Girl is one of the richest people in the world."
Lila sat in her seat, enraged.
'What?'
"What?" questioned Alya.
"They have more money than mine and Adrikins' family combined." she scoffed, "Her father could buy Daddy's hotel like it was nothing!"
"But-" whispered Mylene.
"Marinette is a Wayne." Chloe stated, "The Waynes own an international business and have their hands in everything. They are old money. Bruce Wayne practically owns a whole city and just doesn't wanna be mayor."
"What about her brother?" asked Alix.
"He's known for being violent and lashing out. He hates the press." she remarked, "One thing about him on social media and he hunts you down and sues you."
"That's illegal." Alya claimed.
"Sorry. Would you prefer to be thrown in jail or settle for a million dollars to delete what you have?" the heiress questioned, "The Wayne family is known for the high IQ and attention to detail, which means....we're all screwed."
The class learned that everything Marinette had said was true. Lila's lies were all exposed. She was expelled and taken to a juvenile detention center, ontop of being sued by various people. Principal Damocles had been fired, as he had zero authority to expell anyone. Their teacher, Caline Bustier, was fired for not doing her job. She never informed the nurse about Lila's illnesses or disabilities, so there was never any confirmation that any of those were true. She also never sent Lila any homework during her 'travels' and so she was far behind the class in her studies.
Chloe believed she was suffering the most. Adrien was no longer in school with her. The people that let her do what she wanted was removed from the school and she was being forced to sell clothes out of her closet because her mother was upset by how much she 'embarassed them' in front of the Waynes.
'Stupid Marinette! This is all her fault! If she had just acted rich, like me, everything would be the same as it always was.'
The class was in disarray. Not only had Ms. Bustier let Lila slide on so many things, she was behind on their lessons as well. They now had mandatory after school tutoring and study sessions. Adrien Agreste had been pulled out of the class due to his high marks. He was also at the level they all should have been at.
"Dude, how did you pass?" Nino asked, "We all listened to Miss Bustier! You're higher than anyone, including Max!"
"Well, I was homeschooled and Natalie was a tough teacher compared to Miss Bustier. Also, I wanted to be at the same grade level as Chloe. I sorta knew mostly everything, already." Adrien admitted, "I actually could have skipped a few grades if I wanted to."
Nino was surprised, "Would you be willing to tutor us?"
"I wish I could but the board made me take a test and Father demanded I answer every question I knew correctly." Adrien sighed, "I'll be going to high school and if I continue the way I am now, I'm set to graduate in two years."
They realized it would never be the same. Everyone else still had four or five years until they graduated.
Bruce thought that another child would tip the balance of the manor, but he was wrong. It felt like all they had been missing, was her. She adjusted perfectly to the chaos. His sons insisted that Marinette learn self-defense, at the very least. She refused to walk in their footsteps and become Robin or any other sort of vigilante. It hadn't taken long for Marinette to be announced as Bruce Wayne's daughter and Damian's long lost biological sister. Marinette had taken Gotham by storm as Gotham's Angel and was designing under a new alias: Serpentine. She was taking the fashion world by storm.
Everyone loved having Marinette around, but Damian Al-Ghul Wayne knew better. Marinette was as deceiving as their mother. She looked innocent in everything she did, but her mind was a war zone. Their grandfather never appreciated her mind, but he had gotten some of his best stealth mission ideas after talking with her. He could see her slithering into every crack in their new home. She was flexible like Grayson, loved motorcycles like Todd, talked business with Father and Drake. She even won over Alfred, Brown and Cain with her cooking and baking skills.
Damian watched as Marinette smiled at her computer. The look at the screen, the smile; it was his mother's smile. He could see Gabriel stocks were plummeting after their reunion in Paris. Style Queen was barely hovering above water. For Marinette, it was never about becoming Robin. It was about ruling the world and she was going do it through fashion.
Damian would never tell anyone, but he was scared of his little sister and he would take it to his grave. The smile that would lead anyone to death: The Arabian Helen of Troy.

MariBat PlatNov Day 14: Art/Paint
First Previous Next Ao3
Note: This is me, sleep deprived and writing at 1 AM and forgetting to post.
---
Scarlet Bug dropped down gently on the roof behind Harley. The Siren was standing in front of a heavily-graffitied wall, opened cans of spray paint lying at her feet. In front of her, bright blue letters proclaimed ‘FUCK YOU CLOWN’, with several underlines and exclamation points. Raising an eyebrow, she coughed once to alert the woman to her presence.
At the noise, Harley spun around, a wide grin already on her face. “Heya little bug! What’s up?” Glancing at the cans, Marinette motioned to the wall. “May I?” Expecting a reprimand, and taken aback by the question, it took her a second to respond. She smirked and tossed her a nice shade of pink, accompanied with a cheery call of “Show me whatcha got, girlie!” She caught it one-handed and walked over to the wall with a determined grin.
Twenty minutes later, she swept her arm down in a finishing stroke, before capping the can and placing it down next to the others she had used. Turning to Harley, she gave her a shit-eating grin. “You like?” Instead of an answer, all she got was laughter. “I’m making this my home screen!” Harley cackled, bringing out a bright pink-and-blue phone to snap a picture. Laughing, she pocketed the phone and gave her a once over. “You might not be so bad, little bug. Hit me up next time ya wanna do something like this.” Marinette smirked. “I’ll see you around, Harley.” Before diving off the roof and swinging away.
Behind her, underneath Harley’s original artwork lay her own addition: a giant hyper realistic middle finger, with a phrase of her own beside it.
‘Oh wait, nobody wants to fuck a walking eggplant. Lose the grass hair and try again, you punk bitch.’

Secretary!Marinette Part 9 (Idea Dump)
I don't know how many of these I'll do but I'm having so much fun coming up with ideas! Anyways this dump is going to explore Marinette's and Bruce's relationship! Let's start!! Bruce is kinda OOC but... I want a soft Dad-daughter relationship ok. SUE ME.
Bruce is confused most of the time when Mari showed him how much of an overly competent secretary she is.
She somehow knows when he was faking over meetings because he doesn't want to deal with investors and when he doesn't want to go to meetings because of a serious problem.
He's also kinda confused about how a small woman like her hides the strength of a million strong men. He often watches her pick up the largest boxes that probably weigh thrice her weight. She could manhandle him if the situation went awry from rogue, attacks, and lastly, he saw her punch through thick wooden doors before because one of his younger sons was kidnapped for ransom. That was scary, and he had never felt so safe before in his life.
He is also quite confused as to how she could give so much kindness to strangers and expect nothing from it. She often bakes him pastries and made sure that he has enough snacks during his working hour. She often made sure that his outfit is warm enough and he even got a knitted scarf as a gift from her that she knits herself.
He wanted to adopt her after learning about her past. So, he sometimes slips a paper adoption in the files that she was supposed to work on that day and it has become a game for them of some sort.
Bruce is awkward with his feelings and Marinette finds it hilarious. Marinette teaches him a secret handshake and at first, he did it awkwardly, and then it became a habit. Marinette likes to give him huge bear hugs and at first, Bruce did not know what to do. Like the secret handshake, it became a habit.
They both love to troll the Wayne Staff, at first, Bruce tries to stop her from creating chaos, but then he joins in and they made sure to team up to troll pesky business partners, reporters, and even investors alike.
Bruce doesn't know this but it was he who got adopted first by Marinette before he got the chance to adopt her.
The girl treats her like her father that needs help to manage his life. She worries about him when he gets no sleep. She constantly deals with difficult investors or potential business partners to make sure that her dad boss doesn't have to deal with headaches often. She even made sure that those pesky tabloid reporters left him and his family alone.
Like a cub trying to protect her parents, people often pegged her as a ferocious little kitten (because of her small posture) trying to claw away anyone that feels like a threat to her cat dad. Bruce found this amusing.
She knows that Bruce can handle himself but that doesn't mean he has to. If she can do it for him, then she would!
Once, she mistakenly called her dad out of office hours and Bruce had a permanent grin for the rest of the week.
Bruce invited her often for family dinners, which elates Dick because he would make sure to rope her to hang out with him as often as he could, sometimes Marinette would join him in his sitting area quietly gossiping or hearing each other's stories.
She became fast friends with Alfred and would often team up to bully Bruce to take care of himself more. They would inform one another when Bruce is skipping dinners and take turns scolding Bruce.
She ropes Bruce into taking yoga classes and even asked him to garden with her. It became a weekend father-daughter bonding time. Bruce is especially proud of his zucchini and tomato garden. She even helps Bruce with gift shopping for his kids and helps arrange a private family time for him as well. As usual, he would extend the invitation to Mari and sometimes she joins.
When Mari gets very sleepy during winter, he became full-on dad mode. Worrying his daughter secretary every time he noticed how sluggish she became during the cold weather. When Mari unexpectedly hibernates, he panics. ohnomydaughtersuddenlystopsrespondingandbecamereallycoldwhatshouldido???
When Bruce finally realizes that he had been unofficially adopted by Marinette Jason teases him nonstop. When Dick and Marinette start dating, he is elated. When they got engaged he is stoked. When Marinette asked for him to walk her down the aisle, he tears up. When they give him his first grandchild, he cries again.

15. Anti-hero!Mari (Red Robin!Mari) w/ Robin!Tim
Here's Mari being a spiteful little shit <3
______
"I remember when we first met." Red Hood- no. Jason nodded at Tim.
"You and Red Robin?"
"I was concussed, so I wasn't thinking that fine. She spoke to me in french and it's not exactly in my first 10 languages, is it replacement? So I was standing there, watching this tiny french thing talk to me as if I understood shit. She seemed taller then too."
"Oui, cause I was, you dumbass." Marinette drops down beside them, french accent already present and thick on her tongue.
"Oh great, you're alive."
"My exact reaction to you, my favorite boss" back to an all-American accent.
"So I take it that french is one of your top 10 languages?" Tim asked her.
"I AM french."
Tim snorts at her, arms crossed. "And why would you give me a hint to your identity? I don't believe you"
Red Robin smacked his arm. "You Americans, so dumb. If I wasn't so kind, I would pretend that I've never spoke English or learned English in my entire life."
_________
He's staring into the fire, watching it dance, swiping at the air like a whip and going down like a flower shying into itself as the moon rises. It's patterns kept repeating, like it was a dance. A hypnotizing one.
It whipped again, and it reminded hood of a hissing snake, a warning before going for the kill.
"Hood! Tell Robin that what he's saying is a lie!"
"But it's the truth! You *can* sue anyone, there just isn't a big chance that you'll win! The best chance you have is suing someone for an injury!"
Hood ignored the sounds of their voices, focusing on the drip of the candle wax, dropping quicky into the hard bundle of melted wax at the foot of it, about to create another layer as he watched more wax drip from the newly created stem of the candle.
"Hood!"
Inner peace, it's what he needed to control his pit rage. It helps to put all his rage and energy into the details of every small thing he can focus on that doesn't anger him
"Red Hood! Notice me!"
"WHAT." Hood snapped at Marinette.
"Tell Robin he's wrong."
"No. He's probably right anyway."
"Oh, just as right as you when you decided to have me steal one of his robin costumes?"
"That was you?!?" Tim spluttered beside her.
"You have no evidence, I'm not guilty no matter what you say" she hissed at him.
"You literally just said you stole it!"
"Where's your proof!"
'Where's my gun so I can shoot both of these dumb fucks' Hood bitterly thought as he sighed into his hand.
______
"Red Robin! No!" Tim grabbed the match that Marinette held as she looked at him in surprise and confusion.
"Why not! It's just a car! Take it as protest, I'm just making a point for the authority!"
Tim threw the match far away from him and her. "Jesus Christ, what are you, French?"
Red Robin managed to look offended. "Oui! And you, American? Set the car on fire!"
She said in a thick heavy convincing french accent. Tim scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Haha, very convincing. Now, we don't set cars on fire."
"Then, gather a crowd! We shall shake a building, tilt it until all the cars have fallen out! People are so stupid and weak, non? We shall show them true riot! Be the leader to a newer better generation!"
'Wow' Tim thought. 'She's really pushing it with the french thing.' "What, are you saying we should kill the rich next?"
"Oui! We start with them!" And there was a glint to her eye as she took another match out from somewhere.
"Red, no."
Is this what Dick feels taking care of Damian? Tim doesn't want to be an older brother, thanks. Take the thing away he can manage.

The Lost Al Ghul
Chapter 1 - Friends...or not?
Marin sighed as she dressed up. It was her first day at the public school. And boy was she nervous. She already knew all of the stuff, but she’d blow her cover if she refused to attend school. (Why can’t she be homeschooled?)
She climbed down from her room as Sabine shouted "Marinette! You're gonna be late!"
Marinette was the only name she could come up with in panic. She didn’t want to use her real name here. And now she was stuck maintaining an image of a bubbly French girl (Who sometimes got ferocious).
“My, My. Aren’t you growing up fast?” Sabine said as she kissed the top of her head.
“But I’m still young though.” She pouted.
“But there’s nothing that shows you how much your child has grown up other than going to school,” Sabine said as she smiled softly at her.
“Dating, maybe?” She said tossing her scarf on the couch. She was gonna ditch her usual scarf this time.
“That too.” Sabine chuckled.
Marinette smirked and started eating the cereal.
“Do you think I’ll be okay?” She asked Sabine, as soon as she was done eating.
“Of course! You’re clever, you’ll do good in school!” Sabine said.
She smiled giddily as Tom gave her a lunch box packed with goodies, “G’bye!” She shouted and left the bakery.
She walked towards the school looking at the ground, only to bump into someone. (Clumsy me! She thought) “I’m sorry!” She said as she looked up.
“...Nadja?” She asked.
"Marinette! Good to see you!” She said, “How’ve you been?” She asked her.
“I’ve been better. Today’s my first day at school.” She sighed.
“Good luck at school, try not to break someone's hand." Nadja chuckled.
She pouted as Nadja ruffled her hair.
“It happened once!” She said, pouting.
“And it was awesome!” She said, “I gotta go now dear, I’m sure you have to too.”
“Yeah, Goodbye Nadja!” She said as she waved at Nadia and continued her way to school.
“Francoise Dupont high school huh? It looks big.” She whispered to herself as she saw the school. She walked to the Principal’s office, making her footsteps as light as possible. The school looked bigger on the inside.
She heard a vague come in as she walked inside. She gaped at all the medals displayed there. Were these real?
The principal looked at her and said, "Ah! I suppose you are Marinette Dupain-Cheng?” She nodded. “Welcome to the school! I’m Mr. Damocles! Your guide will be here shortly," talking into the mic, He said, “Kim le Chien, please report to my office immediately, I repeat, Kim le Chien, please report to my office immediately."
As soon as the class heard the announcement, they started giggling.
After all, Kim was known to be the troublemaker in the class. The last time this happened, he caused a food fight to erupt in the Cafeteria.
Miss.Bustier sighed, "Now, Now, Kids. I heard we have a new student. Kim’s probably being called for touring them. -ahem- probably.”
And sure enough, Miss. Bustier was right.
“Ah, Kim, I’m sure Bustier informed you, We have a new student. I want you to give her a tour and make sure she’s settled in.” Kim nodded, excited.
He looked over to Marinette, “Heya! I’m Kim!” He gave his hand out for a handshake.
“Marinette.” She whispered.
“Nice to meetcha Marinette!” He said, “Let me show you around our school, Follow me!” Heading out of the office.
During the tour, all she could think was, ‘He’s too energetic.’
"....and there is a fencing club after school too! Although only a few apply!" His voice shook her out of her thoughts.
There was a light in her eyes, and she knew. "...A fencing club?" she said, almost hesitantly, and in a quiet voice.
Kim beamed at finally getting a response, "Yeah! They're so cool! Do you want to register?” He asked her. And she nodded hesitantly.
“Kim, What are you doing here?” The coach? Asked him, sighing, looking so done with him.
“I wanted to bring a new member! She’s new to the school!” He said, beaming.
“Name?” The man asked her with a raised eyebrow.
“Marinette.” She said, quietly.
“Soft-spoken. You better be worth it, we only have one spot left this year. And you’re probably the youngest who’s going to try out.” He said.
“Alright.” She said.
“Wait, the try-outs are today?!” Kim asked, bewildered.
The coach nodded, “They should begin right about in a few minutes.” He turned to her, “Would you mind waiting?”
She shook her head, “No, It’s alright.”
“Alright! Team, Separate yourselves from the new people! All the people for the tryouts, stand according to your number in the places assigned!” He said, gesturing to her to wait.
“Team Members, Fight the opponent that fits you the best! As you know we only have one spot left, Try your best!” He said.
“And you, come’er.” He said to her, and she obeyed.
“Zara, fight her!” He said, gesturing to another fencer.
“Oui!” She said, “Get in the gear, and we shall have a face-off!”
“Just a saber please.” She said, “I don’t need the gear.”
“Are you sure?” Kim asked. She nodded at him.
“Here you go, kid.” Another fencer handed her a saber.
As soon as the buzzer rang, she took her stance, not paying attention to the others, but only to her opponent.
And the match was over in a few minutes, It had left her opponent panting, but not her.
“Magnificent! Bravo! I see our new member! What’s your name kid? And how old are you?” He asked, clapping.
“Marinette.” She said, “And I’m 10.” She replied.
“You have a special talent at a young age, Marinette! Tell me, where did you learn to fence?” He asked.
“My mother, she was a great fencer.” She replied. She knew the coach had taken notice of her phrasing, ‘was’.
“Welcome to the team! The tryouts are now over!”
While heading back, she noticed Kim’s awed look and chuckled.
“That was Awesome!” He shouted, “But we need to get to class right now.”
She memorized the path to the class on the way.
“We’re here!” Kim Said as they entered the room.
She could hear various voices shouting different things. But she was too anxious to focus. She began Analysing her new classmates.
There was a blond girl with too much make-up in the front left row seated with a redhead. The blond looked like a rich brat from the excess make-up and the luxury handbag. Her clothes looked expensive and well made too. They had a gold lining, so yeah, they were expensive. She looked like a snob. Conclusion: Potential threat.
The red-head looked like a walk-over doormat, from the way she was picking up the blond’s things. And was it Christmas? She was wearing an ugly sweater. She also looked like the most disciplined student from the looks of it. She was the only one who wasn’t slouching or leisurely sitting comfortably. Conclusion: Not much harm, but must avoid in case she’s friends with the blond girl.
Behind their seats, there were two other girls. One of the girls had colorful hair, most likely dyed. She had a ton of badges on different things. She was helping the girl beside her, so most likely a kind one. She was probably a scaredy-cat too, judging by her reaction when she saw a mosquito. Conclusion: Safe, Kind.
Her seatmate was a girl with bright pink hair, who looked laid back. She was probably rich too but didn’t look rich at the first sight. Her clothes were branded and well sewed. Her clothes were casual, like a sports player's. Most likely is. Conclusion: Loyal, Calm.
A boy behind them was messing with a phone using a screwdriver. Probably a geek. He wasn’t minding all the noise, just going about his business. Conclusion: Not a threat.
Behind him, two girls were sitting. They looked opposites of each other. One of them was blabbering questions at her, and she was completely dressed in pink. No other color. A cheerful one. Conclusion: Too bright, gullible.
The girl next to her looked like a goth. Isn't it too early for an emo phase? She looked so done with the class chaos. Conclusion: Safe, Trustworthy.
The row opposite had comparatively fewer members. The first seat was occupied by a boy who was chewing gum. There was another bag there, so most likely Kim’s seat. Behind them was an empty seat, probably where she was to be seated. Conclusion: Rulebreaker.
Behind the empty seat, there was a bulky boy. He looked gruff, but not enough to be a bully from the way he was apologizing to the redhead behind him. Conclusion: Threat if provoked.
The redhead looked annoyed, and from the looks of it, he was sketching. Conclusion: Quiet, Potential friend.
“Quiet down Kids! This is Marinette!” The ginger-headed teacher said, “Welcome her to our class!” Conclusion: Laidback teacher, Kind.
“Welcome, Marinette!” They chorused together.
“It’s lunchtime, So all of you can head to the cafeteria. You’re dismissed!” The teacher said, gesturing to the door.
Everyone began leaving one by one. And Kim dragged her with him.
“Oooh, are those Macarons?” The Pink girl asked. “I’m Rose By the way!”
“Huh, It fits.” She answered, “And yes, These’re Macarons.”
“You’re gonna survive on only Macarons?” The red-headed boy asked.
“Yeah.” She answered back.
“That’s a tragedy! Here, have my apple!” Kim said, handing her the apple.
“And my juice!” Rose said.
“And here, I don’t know if you’ll like these, My mother made them. They’re Mini Pies.” The girl with multicolored hair said.
Her guts scream that she shouldn’t trust anyone. No Trust. No Trust.
But she trusts them anyway, Days go on and on. It’s been 2 days since she’s come to this school. She quite liked it here.
“Marinette! Do you want to join us for a girl’s picnic today?” Rose asked.
“Sure.” She agreed.
Later that evening, She arrived at the park.
“Marinette!” Mylene shouted. “Glad you took up on the offer!” She nodded at Mylene.
There’s all chatter around, all the girls asking her questions here and there, and suddenly she gets a bad feeling.
-Snap- She hears a twig crack. Chloe glared at her as Marinette shrinks into herself.
"Listen here newbie, I don't know why these idiots like you, But I sure don't!” She said,
“Chloe, don't say that!” Rose reprimanded.
“Why not? She doesn't deserve to be here. She's adopted!” Chloe said, scoffing. Gasps were heard around the place.
“Freak! Do you even know why you ended up in the system?” Seeing her frozen state, The blond continued, “Of Course, you don’t!” The blond smirked.
“Or do you? Did your parents not want you? I wouldn’t either if I were them! You’re short, clumsy, and stay quiet like a freak!” She started laughing after saying that.
“Or were you a mistake!” Sabrina shouted.
Some of the girls looked at her with disgust.
She felt a sob escape her, “You should have just said so!” Another sob escaped her mouth. “That you didn’t like me.”
“You should have said so, I wouldn’t have trusted you.” She said as tears escaped her eyes. “I wouldn’t have been hurt by the words!”
She got up and walked away from the place.
She sat under a tree and began sobbing.
Why? Why does this happen to her? Why did she have to trust them? She should've learned by now that she couldn't trust anyone. How did Chloe know she was adopted? Why do they do this?
Wretched sobs echoed around the place, Macarons left forgotten near the picnic.

Damian was confused, he didn’t understand why his sister was going back to their mother. She was safe here, what had happened to make her leave, did she come back? He remembered an argument that they had had only a few months ago about their mother. He had been telling her that she was safe and could stop acting, she had yelled about how their mother always found a way back. Was she right, what did mother do that made her go back with her. There was no way she would go back with that woman willingly, there was no way that she would just abandon him.
“Oracle, I want to know Hummingbird’s last location!”
Damian demanded as he began to look around frantically to see if he could spot anything that could leave him a hint to where she was. Why would she do this, why would she just leave them?! Did mother show up and threaten her, did he do something wrong, was she captured and someone was faking her voice? No, she never spoke on patrol unless it was absolutely necessary.
“Last known location was atop an old apartment complex on route 43. Sending coordinates now.”
Was her clipped response as she harshly clicked atop the keyboard. This was her sister, they may not have known each other well, but she was family and important to her. She refused to let her go back to the League, she would make sure that nothing bad happened to her.
Damian followed by Nightwing started to race towards the coordinates that Oracle had sent them. They stayed in a tense silence as they ran and wung as quickly as they could. When they landed they were shocked to see batman down hand bleeding from two different places, a bloody dagger thrown to the side, and Batman was pulling out something from his leg. Damian walked closer and examined what his father had been hit with. He picked up the dagger and took in a sharp breath as he knew it was one of his sisters as indicated by the painted cherry blossom branch. He quickly looked at his father and saw Nightwing helping him pull out….needles. He rushed to his father’s hand and picked it up causing Batman to hiss in pain, but he ignored it as he saw two bullet wounds. He looked around at the bodies that lined the roof and noticed needles in some of the people as well.
No, no this isn’t what it looks like. His sister would never just betray them, she must have had a reason for doing this. Father must have an expansion, he must know what happened to cause her to flee. He noticed Drake land behind him and freeze as he observed the scene in front of him. His eyes flashed to Bruce, then him, then the people, some of whom were starting to wake up. Quickly pulling out zip ties and trying to distract his brain from the flurry of thoughts that clouded and invaded his mind he set to work securing all of the thugs on the roof so that they could not escape. He noticed Nightwing and Red Robin begin to help Batman up and helped him to the Batmobile. Damian had a bad feeling, and he did not want to be near his father at the moment. He clenched his fist as his nerves began to take over and the situations became worse and worse in his head.
When they arrived at the cave Gordon looked furious. Bruce had limped over to where Alfred was waiting for him to take care of his wounds. He didn’t know what had gotten her so riled up, but he hoped beyond all belief that it didn’t mean that his sister was hurt, ….or worse. He shivered and shook the thought out of his head. No, his sister was too strong and too clever to ever let someone do that to her. Gordon glared at Bruce the entire time he was being treated, and when asked she simply replied,
“Wait for when Bruce is done, because I bet he would love to explain the situation.”
To which he flinched. Damian didn’t have a good feeling about that and began to pace while he waited. Why weren’t they searching for her, why weren’t they trying to find or stop her from leaving. He had finally made up his mind to go on his own when Alfred had finished and helped Father sit up properly.
“What do you need to tell us B?”
Dick asked, a little nervous as he glanced at his brother. He had never seen Damian so wound up over something, let alone another person. It made sense though seeing as they were siblings and have been with each other since the League. There was a long pause of silence and it was driving Damian mad. He was about to leave again when their father finally answered,
“As you all know Marin was on patrol by herself for the first time tonight. I decided to follow her to make sure she didn’t do anything while we weren’t watching.”
Damian felt his body stiffen as he turned to look directly at his father and stared at him in shock. He couldn’t believe that he thought so low of her, she was the level headed one out of the two of them and the most loyal and respectful. She would never go against Father’s rules, he knew she was too afraid of being punished to do so. Didn’t he see that, the way she stiffened up there the first night when he said that, “There will be consequences for violating this rule”? Did he not notice the way she was always on the offense so she wouldn’t severely hurt anyone?
“Keep going Brucie, or I can tell them. You may have turned off your comm, but you left your audio on.”
Gordon said with her arms crossed a snarl at her lips. Bruce sighed and continued,
“I paid some people to attack her on her route to test her, and she failed. She wasn’t happy and tried to kill one of them. I stopped her before she could.”
Silence filled the cave as everyone except Gordon processed his words. Damian felt sick as he felt his eyes widen farther than he ever thought possible. He didn’t want to believe it, he didn’t want to believe he would do that to his daughter, but he had just admitted it. He had just said that he hired people to attack her because he didn’t trust her. He saw the people on the roof, none of them were maimed, no severe injuries or wounds, and most of them didn’t even have a bruise. How had she failed there was no sign of any lethal force. Damian began to robotically walk towards his father and looked directly into his eyes. In disbelief, his eyes shining in fear, he asked,
“You did what…?”
His voice was almost a whisper, but he knew his father heard him. He knew that because he could see the slight fear in his eyes even if it was gone soon after he had seen it.
* “I’ve… overstepped.”
Was his only reply as he averted his eyes away from his youngest child. He knew that this wasn’t going to end well, he knew how attached he was to her even if he wouldn’t admit it. Damian sucked in a sharp breath still not wanting to believe that his father would do such a thing, he wouldn’t attack her, would he? He swallowed some back some saliva frantically wondering where she was, if she was ok, what was going on her mind?
“She’s… where is she now, Father?”
Still not looking into his son’s eyes he gruffly replied,
“She’s with Jason.”
Damian felt annoyed as his father danced around the question. not giving him the straight answer he needed. Damian felt his patience wear thin as he stared down his father. He had to know where she was, he wouldn't just let her go without knowing where she was going, right?! He said she was with Jason, maybe he knows where he is and in turn know where Marin is, he had to!
“And where is Jason?”
Damian asked stiffly, trying not to let any of his nerves show as he clenched his fists in anticipation. Father did not answer, he stayed silent making Damian’s heart rate spike up as panic coursed through him like a tidal wave. He knew she could take care of herself, he knew that she would survive just fine on her own, but that didn't make it right! She shouldn't have to do that any longer, she shouldn't have to be alone like that anymore! The silence was more deafening than any noise he had ever heard before. His lips felt dry and chapped as he waited, but he still did not answer. Damian licked his lips and demanded,
“Father, where is Jason?”
“He is somewhere.”
Was his mumbled reply. Damian felt like the walls were closing in around him trapping him in an inescapable torment of his fear. Maybe his father was just trying to test him, to see if he could interrogate without the threat of violence. He raised his brow and crossed his arms hoping that none of his fear or worry was bleeding through.
“You don’t know?”
He asked with a voice of irritated disbelief.
“He’s somewhere.”
He muttered with a pause between the two words. Damian felt nauseous at his father’s dry reply. He felt the pit in his stomach continue to grow and his eyes stung. He swallowed everything back trying to maintain his air of cool. He couldn’t get emotional, he had to keep a level head or else he wouldn’t get the answers he needed. But the feeling of betrayal weighed heavy on his heart, the feeling of complete and utter fear for his sister’s well-being overtaking every inch of his mind.
“Aren’t you supposed to be the Greatest Detective?”
Damian spat out like it was some kind of joke. How had he not noticed her, his own daughter. She had so many tells that were so obvious when you paid close enough attention. His father didn’t say anything prompting Damian to continue. He felt rage and regret boil inside of him as he continued to stare at the man, the man who wouldn’t even look at him. Coward.
“You were supposed to see in between the lines.”
He yelled, clenching his fists tighter at his sides, the material of the gloves wrinkling under his intense grip.
“Be the ‘Greatest Detective’,”
He said sarcastically as he used air quotes around the two words before going back to clenching them,
“When it came to figuring out my sister.”
His breathing was ragged and he could feel the tears at his eyes begging to be released, but he ignored it, and just continued to push them back. His father finally looked at him and quietly said,
“Damian…”
He didn’t let him say anything else as he wallowed in pity feeling himself deflate. She was right, she was always right, why could he not see that? Why was he always trying to prove her wrong when she was right?!
“But you never saw it, did you?”
He asked quietly as he curled in on himself his voice lowered and sounding almost broken. Bruce was silent, not understanding what his son was getting at. He had seen her, He knew that she was not to be trusted, that she was fake and pretended with everyone. She shifted her personality far too often, she was never truly honest with them, and so he just opted to not be around her. She was too much of a risk if she decided to betray them, the less she learned about him the better. Damian lost the battle as finally a single tear slipped down his face, and now it was his turn to look down. He felt shame course through himself as he said,
“I kept asking her to change herself. I kept asking her to try and push the urge to pretend away, all for you…”
There was a gasp of air from somewhere in the room, he didn’t know where nor did he care. Bruce still didn’t say anything as he stared at his son in shock. He hadn’t expected this, he didn’t know that this would make his son act so lost. He had never seen this side of him, he was always so self assured and confident, and he had never seen his son act so….. vulnerable.
“And you never saw it.”
Damian growled his fists clenching once again as he remembered everything she tried to do and was ignored or turned away. He thought back to all the times Marin had tried to be herself, had tried so hard, for him. He saw the way her hands would shake when she stopped pretending, when she dropped the molds and just acted as herself. The pain in her eyes when the others left her, the heartache in her eyes as Father would be the first to leave and never return like the others sometimes would after a little while.
“You never saw how much it pained her. I thought you did.”
He thought he had, when she sat next to him during meals, and he moved his chair slightly away from her, he thought he had seen the ways her eyes dulled. He remembered how Marinette Immediately took over as she talked with the others over dinner and how she would glance at there father as he would only say anything if one of the others talked to him. He saw the way her eyes glazed over when he did that. Did their father really not see the way that she hurt? The way that he made her hurt? When she first acted as Marin it was in front of their father. She thought that he would finally be proud of her and finally except her for dropping her act like he wanted her to. He remembered the way she drew in on herself, even if it was very slight, from the nerves before she dropped her molds. He remembered how Father had been studied and watched her. Yet he never really looked at her…., did he? He just saw what he wanted and just didn’t care about the rest of her. Care about the part of her that was trained and beaten for ten years to hide herself and her feelings. He didn't want to understand that and just assumed that she did it because she could and that she was not afraid of being rejected. Marin and him were not the same person, while he had been treated like a king she had been treated like the scum of the earth because she was born first as a girl. Did he not understand that her life was so much worse than his ever was? That she was trained differently than him, treated differently, pushed differently, that she was constantly one step away from death because of her stupid gender?!
“Damian…”
Bruce began, but he didn’t finish his sentence as his voice trailed off causing more rage to build up in the young boy’s chest as memories of their League days played in her head. Like the days she came back to his room covered in cuts or burns. Treated like she was worthless when she was the best assassin constantly on the field.
“Is that all you can say? My name?”
He raised his voice angrily as disgust coated over his words as he looked up and glared daggers at his father.
“Is that all you can say, Father? Because it’s not enough!”
He yelled as he leaned into his father’s personal space. Bruce slowly and carefully placed his hands on Damian’s shoulders once again saying his name to try to get his son to calm down so he would just listen to him.
“It’s not enough!”
He all but screamed, shrugging off his father's hands from his shoulders as he continued to glare at his father.
“My sister is out there, your daughter is out there. And you don’t know where she is!”
He continued to yelled, as he pointed towards where the Batmobile was parked in front of the cave entrance that was currently sealed shut, as he emphasized his words in hopes he would understand their importance. Bruce sighed and rubbed his eyes as he repeated,
“She’s with Jason-”
Anger coursed through him turning his vision red, and out of habit for when he and Marin got into a rather heated debate or argument he switched into Arabic, his their native tongue.
“And how long is she going to stay there,”
He yelled knowing full well that his father understood what he said. There was a long pause, his father did not say a word which only aggravated Damian even more as his green eyes flashed showing how furious he truly was.
“How long do we know she’s going to stay with Jason?! He could have brought her to my moth-”
Damian paused and blinked. How could he have forgotten? She said that she was going back to the League. She said she was going to go back to their mother. She hated the League, she had nightmares about it almost every night, even if she would never admit that.
“...Wait…”
A deafening silence once again filled the cave as those who understood Arabic (i.e. everyone except for Grayson and Gordon) knew what he was going to say and knew the weight it carried. Bruce was silent and it looked as if guilt shone in his eyes before it disappeared and was replaced with righteousness. Just to be sure, to make sure that what he heard her say was not some kind of sick hallucination he asked flatly with both of his arms st his sides,
“She said she’d rather go with, Mother?”
“Yes.”
Was his quick response as he watched his son react. Damian felt his hands shake from all of the emotions that swam in his head. Everything felt fuzzy and his thoughts just didn’t make sense and he just couldn’t figure anything out through the haze that surrounded his mind.
“She’s terrified of Mother.”
He said in a horrified tone as his eyes were wide. He watched his father and saw how his hands twitched. Bruce didn’t know what Damian meant by that, how could she be so horrified of Talia if she was so insistent on going back to her? She was never part of their team, she was never loyal to them, she was just waiting to find a reason, a way to go back to Talia. There was no way Marin would want to go back there if she was so frightened, the cave would have been much better for her and she wouldn’t be hurt.
“She was very adamant on going to Talia.”
He replied dryly as his voice darkened. Damian stared at him in horror and tried to figure out his father and what was going through his mind that would make him be ok with his daughter going back to her worst fears. What had he done to push her over the edge so much so that she would willingly go to their mother, the mother that constantly hurt and manipulated her. Appalled with fury he slowly growled out,
“...What. Did. You. do?”
He emphasized every word as he scowled at his father. Bruce replied in his Batman voice,
“I gave her a test, like I did with all of you.”
He said raising his voice a little to emphasize his last words as he looked everyone in the eyes for a few seconds. A rule that he had been taught since birth suddenly played out in his mind, Trust no one, no matter who they are to you. Could he really not trust his father, did he really just give her a simple “test”?
“I don’t think you did.”
Damian began cautiously as he folded his arms again and stared incredulously at his father.
“We never reacted this way whenever you gave us tests. He**, even Todd never reacted this way!”
Bruce sighed in exasperation not understanding why his son couldn’t understand that he just did what needed to be done. This wasn’t his fault, he did what he’s always done, she was the one who overreacted.
“I just gave her a test-”
Bruce began tiredly only to be cut off by his son yelling,
“Bulls*!” *
At the top of his lungs. Everyone was shocked because Damian had never cursed, ever. He said it was for the uneducated and lowly who didn’t know how to speak. Alfred didn’t even call him out on it as Damian pushed his father with all his force effectively knocking him down before he stormed out of the cave with his teeth barred and his hands clenched around what looked to be a weapon of some kind. Everyone’s eyes turned back to Bruce as soon as the doors the lead to the cave were slammed shut with enough force that the bats at the top of the cave flew around for a few seconds before settling back onto their perches. Bruce looked from where his youngest son had left to his older ones and saw the angered and disappointed looks in all of their eyes.
“I can’t believe you B.”
Tim said tiredly as he rubbed his eyes. When he dropped his hand he noticed that tears were falling from his eyes. He turned to look at Dick, but he was turned away from him as if it pained him to even look at him. He turned to look at Barbra and saw the resentment in her eyes and the rage that threatened to spill at any moment. Finally he looked at Alfred, but he wouldn’t look at him either. There was a sorrow in his eyes, a melancholy that only showed when something valuable was lost forever.
“Bruce, can I tell you something she told me when she was so sleep deprived that I don’t think she even realized she told me about it.”
Tim began as he stared directly at him, his voice never wavering. Bruce didn’t answer so Tim continued on.
“I had asked her about a scar that was on her arm and do you know what she told me?”
Bruce continued to stay silent as he watched different emotions play though his son’s face until he swallowed and continued on.
“She told me that one of her handlers, her trainers, burned her for even the smallest mistake. She said that the burn on her arm, which mind you was not small, it was maybe 6" from what I could see, was because her stance was an inch too wide. She told me that she was scared that she would be hurt like that if she showed me Marin. I was confused on what she meant by that, but all she did was smile at me and continue working. You pushed her enough to want her to go back to a place that did that to her, that literally named her Mistake!
Tim let out a tired sigh and turned away as his heart sunk under the heavy weight that his little sister, the only one that truly understood him, was gone. Silently he walked up the stairs and left the cave closing the doors softly instead of slamming them like Damian had. The others looked at Bruce with upset and disappointed looks as they left until it was just Bruce and Alfred. Alfred looked down at Bruce as he sat in his chair then looked back up and said,
“Master Bruce, you have royally messed up, and I don’t know what you can do to fix this.”
Before he too quietly left, leaving Bruce alone to contemplate and think over his decisions and reanalyze all of the times he had been with or near Marin. A heavy feeling began to firmly take place in his heart as he thought about what he had done. Had he really gone too far, was this his fault? Was he too harsh on her, or was she just being overdramatic so she could leave them? Was she really just afraid to be herself, did she truly feel like she had to hide from them like that because they would hate or hurt her? How was he supposed to trust her if she never trusted them? This wasn’t his fault. He had only done what he thought needed to be done, she left them, he didn’t make or force her to leave them. She decided to leave, it was her choice, and she chose to go back. He refused to be blamed for her decisions.
Damian sat in her room holding one of the daggers from the set he had given to her for her birthday. There was only one, which meant that she currently had the other on her. He studied the blade and remembered how happy she was when he had presented them to her, the way her eyes lit up as she weighed them in her hand and saw the jewels. The one that she had left behind was the sapphire dagger, which meant she had the emerald one with her. He hoped more than anything that she would not truly go back to the League. That she had actually just hidden and that it was just a cover story to keep them from searching for her.
He felt a wave of pain and sorrow wash over him as he thought back to all the times he had begged her to stop pretending. He had seen how the others had reacted to when she was Marin, but he was just so proud and happy that she wasn't hiding herself that he didn’t really care about how the others reacted. How had he not seen how it had affected her, how her eyes got duller and more hollow. How had he not noticed how tense she was and how fear bled into her eyes only to be replaced by disappointment. The way she forced her eyes to light up for her sibling more than usual when she was Marinette, the way her fingers would twitch when there was a long silence. He felt partially responsible for why she had left, after all he was the one that pushed her even though she was already at the edge. It wasn’t just their father’s fault, it was his, and he could only feel shame as he hugged the blade close to his chest. If he got a second chance, a do-over, if he ever found her again, he would do his best to make up for the pain he had caused her. He would do everything in his power to make her comfortable and not push her like he had. He vowed that he would find her again, and when he did, he would support her in whatever she was doing, just like she had always supported him. He looked at his clock, 2:03 AM, he had school soon and he did not want to stay here. Clenching his jaw he made a decision, he wasn’t going to stay here, he had a safe house in the city he could use. Quickly he ran over to his room and grabbed a black duffle bag with emerald green highlighting, the one Marin had made him when father banned her from patrol because nobody else could tail her, and stuffed the dagger into one of the pockets. He moved around his room grabbing and packing the essentials, clothes, socks, shoes, his suit, hygiene products, and some cash that he had found. Before he could open his window there was a knock on the door. Damian quickly hid the bag under his bed and told the person to come in so he wouldn’t seem suspicious. Grayson slowly entered the room with gentle concern in his eyes.
“Damian, I’m so sorry for what B did.”
“It is not your fault Grayson, you have no need to apologize for his actions.”
“Right. Look, I know that you want to get out of here.”
Damian stiffened a little not knowing how he knew of his plans.
“Remember how I said I would be helping to train a team up in Jump City?”
Damian raised a brow trying to figure out what he was getting at.
“I do, what about it?”
“Well, I was wondering if you wanted to come with me? We could help you look for Marin, you could get away from Bruce, and it would probably be healthy for you to talk to others.”
Damian rolled his eyes at that, and then remembered that Jon was currently on that team his brother was talking about. The more he thought about it the more right it felt to go there with his brother. He didn’t want to be near his father, who was to say that his father wouldn’t treat him like he had his sister now that she was gone? Quickly he agreed and grabbed the duffle bag he had hidden beneath the bed.
“Lets go now then Grayson, I assume that you already have a bag packed or have essentials already there?”
Grayson nodded with a small sad smile and both began to leave Grayson saying his bag was already in the car they would be taking.
“And where do you think you’re going?”
Bruce said as he exited the cave through one of the many secret entrances. Damian continued to walk, not even glancing at his father. He refused to look at the man that took the most important person to him away from him.
“None of your business, Father.”
Was his only reply as he turned and headed to the garage. He could hear his father following them and before he could catch up Damian slipped one of his kunai from his sleeve into his hand and threw it so it barely missed his father’s head. Grayson didn’t say anything, but he saw the grim look in his eyes. He wasn’t sorry though, he wanted to do much worse to him, to the man that made his sister feel so terrible and afraid she thought the League was a better place for her to be. The League was right though, he could never trust anyone, not even the person he thought he could trust with his life. Silently he hopped into the car with his older brother and stared out the window as they drove away from the manor and away from Gotham.

Big Brother to the Rescue!
This fic was inspired by @justcourttee - A Brother’s Love. I loved her fic and I couldn’t stop thinking….what if this happened?
Jason sighed, rereading the text he had gotten again from Gina.
Nona: Jay, I am unable to get to Paris in the time I wished. My son and his wife are having problems with my Little Fairy. They claim her to be a bully and a brute, but I know this is not my Little Fairy. I am her guardian now and my plan was to bring her with me. Go in my stead and take her to Gotham. She told me she has a date with her boyfriend, Adrien Agreste. Break the news to her gently.
Gina had traveled with him for awhile and was always there for him when he got in a fight with Bruce. They could disappear on the road and travel, forget their worries. Gina had told him about her granddaughter, her ‘Little Fairy’, Marinette Dupain-Cheng. She was an inspiring fashion designer, who was also her class’ president. She had designed for Jagged Stone and won a contest from Gabriel Agreste. She even had the opportunity to be mentored by Style Queen, herself, in New York, and turned it down. Gina had told him so many things about Marinette, he felt as if she was his little sister. When Gina told him that Pixie was getting bullied again and no one would help or see her side of things, he had gotten upset. Even her boyfriend had told her to make peace with the bully and to let it go. She had never asked him for a favor before and he didn’t want to let her down.
Jason had taken the first flight to Paris to bring his little sister home to Gotham. He watched as she left the bakery and pressed the button to head to the park when her phone rang.
“Adrien? Yeah, I’m just heading-Oh. Ye-Yeah, I can meet you there instead. Sure. Bye.” Marinette spoke and quickly took off in another direction.
'Sounds like a change of plans.’

ENDGAME
Chapter 3: 5 Years Later.
Description: So... I know many Daminette fans don't like Damian being younger than Marinette so 🚨SPoiler AleRT 🚨 Damian is gonna be younger for a while but an event happens that gets their ages exchanged. (Sort of)
Warning; swearing, angst.
Summary: its 5 years now, since half the human race was wiped out...
Previously
"Bruce" Selina called before completely fading out. The same happened to Steph, Cass, Chloe, Alfred, Dick, Duke, Kate and lastly...
Marinette.
That day, Half the world was wiped out because of the infinity stones.
Never to return ever again.
***
The entire world was mourning.
mourning over the loss of their families, Friends.
Gotham was worse and better, less thieves but more sadness.
Poison ivy looked at her wilting flowers, The sunshine of Gotham was gone, Marinette was gone.
So was Harley.
The justice league, at least what was remaining of them, Tried everything they thought of, anything you name it but none of them succeeded.
The rest of the Wayne's could only mourn. They lost the only people that could cheer them...
Tim tried his best to mend his family, but he couldn't mend himself. Damian and Bruce avoided everyone. Like father, like son. Damian couldn't believe it. He remembered that night clear as day. The day the people he most loved vanished. He missed Marinette the most, her bright smile, her laughter, her big blue mesmerizing eyes.
Tikki and the rest of the kwamis would try and fail at bringing their beloved guardian/owner back. Damian was the new guardian now. But he wasn't an official guardian ,No, not without Marinette granting it.
Five years passed by.
The world moved on.
Tim was the new Co-CEO of Wayne enterprises. Damian was a sophomore. Jason was Jason... Just kidding. He met a girl named Rose Wilson, Slade Wilsons daughter. Yes, Slade a.k.a deathstroke . And Bruce was still Batman.
Damian walked down the porch calmly, sensing Tim's anger from a mile. He walked straight at the old black car before opening the door and sitting in.
"You know for a young person, you walk really slowly." Tim said, driving out of the open gates "sorry old man." Damian snorted sarcastically "you could have just gone to Wayne enterprise, I could have hot wired one of Jason old bikes"
"Yeah, No. besides I like dropping you to school demon spawn" Tim smiled
"Don't fucking call me that"
"Language" Tim said sternly "I know Alfred isn't here but that doesn't mean you can forget your manners"
"Yeah... is that why you like dropping me off to school? Sitting in Alfred's place thinking about...Them."
"Yeah"
"Remember that day when We tried to make those cookies?" Damian asked staring out the window.
"Oh god, they were so damn salty" Tim laughed "Alfred and Mari were so angry at the mess we made, Do you remember Mari?"
"Yeah, of course" Damian answered
"You guys were pretty close."
"I guess"
"And boy, did you flirt a lot with her! You were ridiculous at flirting!" Tim laughed
"He's right, you know?" Plagg finally spoke up, popped out of Damian's bag
"why are you taking his side?!" Damian hissed
"Give me camembert and maybe I won't."
"Oh God, please don't take that out." Tim scrunched his nose in disgust when he saw Damian reaching out to his bag. Plagg eagerly sniffed on the piece of Camembert before eating it whole.
"Oh heavens" Tim gagged
"Stop being so dramatic. besides, Damien was actually much better at flirting then you were." Plagg smirked, keeping his promise "did you know that sometimes the other kwamis and I watch you try flirting? Ahhhh...it was an amazing comedy show"
Damian choked trying to contain his laughter as Tim glared at both of them "it's not funny!"
The ride was Quiet... until Tim asked him something unexpected "have you found a new ladybug miraculous holder?"
"No." He said, bluntly
"You're not looking" Tim sighed "Damian, you have to. You cannot use the cat miraculous for long without the Ladybug miraculous". Damian remained silent, unable to answer. How could he do that? He just...couldn't.
"I'll see you later Drake." The boy said putting on his blazer and opening his pocket to let Plagg in.
"See you later baby brother." Tim smiled "oh, by the way...I think she would really like you."
"Who?" Damian asked, confused
"Marinette"
Damian face turned beet red and Tim looked at him surprise "OMG! Are you blushing?!, baby bird obviously didn't move on from his childhood crush."
"Shut the hell up Drake." Damian hissed looking around in embarrassment "you are so dead."
"Ha! I'd like to see you try" he winked before speeding away
***
Damian sighed during the mathematics period, why did he have to come to Gotham university anyway? He knew everything he needed to and being there was a total waste of time. He raised a hand asking the teachers permission to use the washroom, she nodded as he walked out the classroom.
Damian splashed water on his face. Looking at the mirror, sighing
"I've been thinking bout' what Tim said and I think you should look for another ladybug." Plagg blurted out causing Damian to freeze
"We've already talked about this Plagg, NO"
"Damian you were bound to her, I know. But she's gone. They're gone. You have to accept that. Do you think they would want this? Find another one. Move on"
"I can't"
"That's because you're not trying! whether you like it or not Marinette is gone!" Plagg yelled "The only reason you can't move on is that you're choosing not to. She wouldn't want that, she would never want that. she didn't know that you were at her Cat! she just thought that you were a temporary fit until she found the right one. But you weren't, and when She figured that out she tota-"
"What's that noise?" Damian interrupted
"Seriously? I was in the middle of my speech!" Plagg huffed.
Damien walked outside looking around only to find chaos, students of every grade were running about and most of them were rushing at the exits.
"Hey, what's going on?!" Damian yelled over the loud noise, at his friend- I mean accomplices.
"They're back!, They're back!, They're back!" Maps yelled excitedly, almost jumping at him
"Who's back?!"
"The people who disappeared 5 years ago!"

MariBat PlatNov Day 21: New/Changed
First Previous Next Ao3
---
So I have this headcanon that after Miracle Queen, Marinette did become the Guardian, but only after Fu died would the transfer of power be complete. Like, the longer lifespan doesn’t happen for her until he’s dead. That way the blessing transfers from him to her.
---
When Dick, Jason, Tim, and Damian went to visit their pseudo-sister in Paris, they were not expecting to meet nineteen floating Gods as well. But you know what they say, just keep rolling with the punches and everything will turn out fine. Totally.
“Hey Mme. Cheng! Is Marinette upstairs?” Tim asked politely as they made their way into the bakery. “Hi Tim, Damian, Jason, Dick, it’s lovely to see you again! Yes, Mari’s up in her room. You can go on up, she won’t mind.” The small woman replied, waving a hand towards the back stairs distractedly as she continued ringing up orders. “Tt. Let’s not waste any time with these fools.” Damian scoffed, indicating the customers around them. “Let’s just head upstairs.” Dick beamed down at him. “Is that your way of saying you want to go see her, Dami?” The younger boy simply scoffed in response and marched up the stairs.
“Hi Marine-WHAT THE HELL ARE THOSE?!” Jason shouted, nearly throwing himself out of the room upon entering and seeing whatever was inside. “Move out of the way Jason, what are you talking about-FLOATING STUFFED ANIMALS OH MY GOD!”
“Tood, Grayson, you imbeciles, what are you yammering about?” Damian scoffed, pushing past the two others to see what all the fuss was about. Once he stepped into her room however, he immediately drew his katana and lowered into a fighting stance. “What is the meaning of this?” He hissed, glaring at the floating...things hovering around his sister. Tim was at the back, and too short to see over Jason and Dick’s much taller frames, so he elbowed his way past them to stand beside his younger brother. “Oh wow.” He breathed, staring around the room in awe. “What are they?” He asked, inching closer to a black one in curiosity. “Hey watch it kid!” It snapped, darting nimbly out of the way. “Let Pigtails do her thing!”
“Pigtails? Oh you mean Marinette?” Tim asked, glancing at the girl in question. She was sitting cross-legged on the floor, wearing simple white cotton robes. Her face was blank, eyes closed and unmoving. The only sign that she was alive was the slight rise and fall of her chest. The air around her seemed to ripple with a strange energy, and they watched as a mahogany symbol began to materialize over the back of her neck, as though it was being written, it’s deep color vivid against her skin. Suddenly, her eyes flew open, the pupils a blinding white, contrasting sharply with their deep black sclera. Shadows seemed to flicker in her unseeing gaze, and the light seemed to fill the room with an unearthly radiance. Dick let out a quiet shriek, and even Damian took a step back at the sight. “What the actual fuck?” Jason whispered, sounding nervous. “What the fucking fuck.” “That’s new.” Tim remarked sarcastically as her eyes reverted to their normal sparkling blue. She made no sign of acknowledging their presence, but they knew she sensed them even as she turned to the floating beings. “Well, it’s done.” She smiled hesitantly up at them, holding out her hands. “The transfer happened, and now there’s no going back.”
“Okay Mari you need to explain what in the actual hell that was!” Dick burst out, looking panicked.
“Oh, um, that…” She laughed nervously, hugging herself tightly. “Am I allowed to tell?”
“Of course you can tell them Marinette! You are the new Guardian after all.” A bright red thing chirped in a strangely high-pitched voice, flying down to pat her on the nose.
“Oh right.” She shifted her gaze to the four of them. “You might want to sit down.”
“Um, so what you just saw was the transfer of Guardianship from my old Master to Me.” She began, looking unsure of herself. “Uh, Guardianship of what exactly?” Tim cut in, looking confused. “Guardianship of the Miraculi, and the Miracle Box.” She answered. Taking in their blank faces, she let out an exhausted sigh. “Okay, let's start this from the beginning….”
~One explanation, two broken noses, and an angry call to Bruce later~
“Well that still doesn’t explain what just happened!” Damian grumbled, pinching his nose to stop the bleeding. “Yeah! Like what that symbol on your neck was, and why exactly your eyes looked like some color reversal shit.” Jason added, also holding his own nose. “What symbol?” She smirked, showing them her bare neck. “What?!” Dick exclaimed, eyes widening comically at the sight of unblemished skin. “It was right there!”
“t can’t be seen by anyone but members of the Order. The symbol is their mark, and it basically means that I’m a full-fledged Guardian now.” Tim narrowed his eyes. “You’re hiding something.”
“What is it?” Damian scowled, looking up at her petulantly “Um, well, I have like two and half times as long a lifetime as you. I can live until I’m 200 years old. Assuming that ya’ know, I don’t get poisoned, or assassinated or whatever. “ She squeaked, fiddling with the ends of her robe. “As long as you aren’t immortal I’m chill.” Jason remarked, relaxing against the side of her chaise. “Don’t be a Ra’s.” Tim laughed, earning a glare from Damian. “You aren’t, like, mad at me or anything? For keeping this from you?” “Nah, you’re fine Mari.” Dick waved a hand nonchalantly. “Just because some things about you changed doesn’t mean your relationship with us has to.”
“Thank you.” She breathed, tears filling her eyes as she grabbed them in a hug. “Thank you.”

Managing Life (Part 4/?)
Summary: Marinette has been Audrey Bourgeois' secretary ever since she voiced out her dream of having her own business. Audrey thinks that she should learn more about the nooks and crannies of running a fashion business. However, fate has other plans for her, and honestly, what can our resident guardian could do to counter fate?
Disclaimer: I do not own MLB or DCU.
Pairings: Dick Grayson/Marinette Dupain-Cheng
A/n: Well, here we are with another update. Special thanks to @mysnis for giving me the idea for this chapter in particular!
<Previous Chapter> <Next Chapter>
<Beginning>
Marinette had just finished the online meeting about the progress report from the main Style Queen branch in Paris. She huffed tiredly as she began to relax her overly stiffed body, a result from sitting for 5 hours straight for the meeting. She was going to lay on her bed when her phone started to ring.
She checked on who was calling her and to her surprise, it was Audrey. Curious, she picks up the call. "Madame? Do you need me to bake you more baked goods?" She asked in concern.
"Non non! Everything is perfect as usual! I'm just here to inform you that you have an interview with Brucie, tomorrow morning! I already made sure that your morning schedule is clear!"
"W-wait, What?" Marinette replied dumbly.
"Do I need to spell it out for you, Marinette? Tomorrow morning, you have an interview with Bruce Wayne. He was looking for a new secretary and you are currently looking for a new mentor! Fate, non?"
"F-fate?? Wait! That dinner! I knew you were planning something! Did you pimp me out to him???" Marinette accused while ruffling her hair nervously.
She could hear Audrey's signature shrill laugh from the other side of the connection, "Oh please, Pimping sounds so crude! I merely just help out my darling protege to find a mentor! Anyways, be ready tomorrow morning, Brucie kindly told me that his Butler shall pick you up at 8 A.M sharp! Wear one of your designs and don't bother getting your portfolio and resume together because I already sent a copy to him! Entendue? Good! Have a good night's rest, my dear! Ta~' Then she hung up.
Marinette looked at her phone in disbelief, she was utterly speechless. She has an interview with Bruce Wayne. She has an interview with Bruce Wayne. INTERVIEW! BRUCE WAYNE!
The young secretary's mind went overdrive and crashed immediately. Negative thoughts about the things that would happen and imaginative scenarios about how she would fail the interview, making a mockery of herself in front of one of the most powerful men in Gotham began to pop into her mind. She didn't even notice that she was hyperventilating were it not for the kwamis shouts around her.
"Breathe, Marinette!" Exclaimed Tikki in her ear.
Marinette began rebooting and she made sure to do the breathing exercise that her therapist had mentioned. Once she is calm enough, the fact that she has an interview tomorrow morning made her anxious again. She bolted out from her bed and began pacing.
"Oh, this is a disaster! Completely a disaster! I-i'm nowhere ready! Merde, what if I fall, what if I accidentally spill water on his expensive suit?! WHAT IF I MADE HIM UNCOMFORTABLE???!!" She panics.
The kwamis looked at each other, exasperated at their silly Guardian. They watched in amusement at Marinette's tirade.
"What if I made him hate me?! I might have to fake my death, change my identity and move somewhere remote! To bora-bora or somewhere in Southeast Asia?! Perhaps, Indonesia?! Yeah, that sounds like a good failsafe, I could even change my name, dyed my hair, and even get cosmetic surgery to alter my look! Maybe I should become a hermit in Tibet instead! YES! That's a good idea!"
Plagg sighed frustratedly at his kitten, and he decided to put a stop to this ridiculous rant. He zoomed in front of Marinette and slap her nose, "Get a hold of yourself, kitten. It's getting ridiculous.".
It worked instantly, the girl sucked a deep breath before letting out a huge sigh. "Sorry..." She mumbled softly. "I spiralled again, didn't I?" She meekly asked Plagg with a sheepish smile.
Plagg gave her a droll look, "Ya think? You even talked about getting plastic surgery and becoming a hermit in Tibet."
Marinette blushed in embarrassment, "Yeah, I don't know where that came from."
The other kwamis floated around Marinette, some were giggling and some were looking at her with an exasperated smile. Duusu flew forward and hugged Marinette's cheek. "It's going to be alright, peafowl! You are good at your job and I'm sure that the Wayne man was impressed with your achievements!"
"That's right, Marinette! I'm sure that you'll do fine in your interview! Besides, we're always there for you so you're never alone!" Tikki agreed.
Nooroo shyly floats forward, "I-if it made you feel better. I-i'll be honored to accompany you! P-perhaps my calmness could help!" He offered meekly.
Marinette smiled warmly and reached forward so that Nooro could perch on her palm. She brought him closer and gave the butterfly kwami a gentle kiss. "Thank you, Nooroo. You're such a dear." She complimented which made the said kwami blush.
Marinette then looks at the assembled kwami and smiles brightly at them. "Thank you, all of you. I don't know where would I be without you all."
"Crash and Burn?" Plagg snarks. "A complete mess?" Trixx added. "Rich but not as elegant!" pipes Kaalki. Tikki and Wayzz moved to them and gave all three a whack.
"Don't listen to them, Guardian. I'm sure without us you would be okay." Wayzz argued.
"But I'd be lonely. Either way, I'm glad that we could meet. I'm glad that fate brought me to you. I love you guys." Marinette said and they all share a big hug.
She doesn't know what will happen tomorrow, but with the kwami around, she felt like she could do anything. With her resolve set, she started to form a plan on how to tackle the interview tomorrow.
She can do this!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I can't do this~" She whined miserably while hiding her face behind her hands. Currently, she's on her way to the Wayne Enterprise HQ. As Audrey had said Bruce's Butler, Alfred Pennyworth, picked her up at exactly 8 A.M. She wasn't late which was a good sign, she even made sure that she wore her best-designed dress! But after a few minutes sitting in Bruce Wayne's car, her anxiety had come back with gusto.
Alfred clears his throat to catch Marinette's attention. When the nervous girl looks up he gave her a warm smile. "What seems to be the problem, Ms Dupain-Cheng?" He asked kindly.
Marinette chewed her lips while her hands were fiddling together trying to keep herself grounded. "I-it's nothing, Mr Pennyworth. I'm just being silly, that's all."
Alfred hummed thoughtfully, "It must not be that silly since it's making you so nervous. Perhaps, I could give you a bit of advice if you want to talk about it?" he offered kindly.
The girl shrinks but then she felt an encouraging pat from her breast pocket. She looked downwards and was greeted by Nooro's encouraging smile. She let out a shaky sigh, "Well...I'm just nervous about this interview. Mme Bourgeois told me last night and I haven't prepared anything yet! I'm afraid of giving M Wayne the wrong impression. Not to mention, I had coincidentally met him at the park before and I did this stupid thing where I get to be this ridiculous know-it-all! Maybe I shouldn't do this interview." She whined to herself. Alfred smiled softly as he briefly glance at the ruffled-looking girl from the rearview mirror.
"Ms Dupain-Cheng, I think it is best if you take a deep breath and think about your next step and only the next step. You will never know whether you'll succeed or fail, right? Just one step, Ms Dupain-Cheng. Only one step." Advised the old butler while giving a knowing smile from the mirror. Marinette replied with a sheepish smile of her own.
She looks at her hands again and took a peek at Nooroo who was giving her a wide smile. She nodded to herself, took a deep breath, closes her eyes, and tries to clear her mind. Taking Alfred's words to heart she plans in her mind. She was going to do her best in the interview, she plans on what she was going to speak as an introduction and then she opened her eyes with renewed vigour.
She looks at Alfred and smiled brightly, "Thank you for your advice, sir. It definitely works." Her hands raised to her chest to cup the butterfly pendant that she had worn that day. "Just one step..." She whispered again for courage, then a whisper of a familiar voice added.
Do the next right thing.
She could feel her eyes beginning to water, somehow she could feel Master Fu's encouraging pat on her shoulder. A strange but familiar warmth surged to her whole body and she could feel her nerve starting to lessen. She will do the interview to her best ability. After all what's the worst thing that could happen?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The worst thing did kind of happened.
So, after thanking Alfred for driving her to Wayne Enterprise and for the advice Marinette walked bravely to the huge building. Everything was going well so far, she told the receptionist about her appointment and the nice lady showed her the way to Mr Wayne's office.
The worst thing happened when she walked out of the elevator and ran into someone, hard. Her nerve came again during the elevator ride and once the door opened she bolted out from the confined space, and barreled into someone, sending them both to the ground with a loud thud.
"O-oh my gosh! I-I'm so sorry! I-i wasn't looking." She stuttered apologetically as she moved away from the person.
The one whom she stumbled to turns out to be a man who seemed to be the same age as she was. The man shook his head and held out a hand to stop Marinette's stuttering. "It's...fine." He said politely with a smile. He picked himself up and look at Marinette with a calculating gaze. "Who are you?" He asked politely.
"I-i'm Marinette. I-i was here f-for the interview? W-with Mr Wayne?" She said unsurely. She could feel herself being judged under those scrutinizing eyes of his and Marinette unconsciously flinched.
The man hummed noncommittally. "The office is just down the hall. Good luck, I think you'll need it." He said with a bored tone.
That set Marinette off from her previous nervous self. "And what makes you think I'll need it?" A hint of sass bleeds through in her tone. The man blinked, clearly unexpected to see a change of tone from Marinette.
"Oh, I'm not implying anything! It's just..." The man trailed off his words, his eyes darting around the room trying to think of a more polite way to voice his 'concerns'. "Look, I'm sure you are a very competent person, it's just I know Bruce and I don't think he's looking for someone like...you?" He finished unsurely.
Marinette was appalled, no she was furious, sure she had sent the guy flying with her nervous stumble but she couldn't help it. Her nerves got the better of her! However, that doesn't give him any right to judge her so lowly!
Before she could even give a seething remark the man pats her shoulder and gave an empathetic smile, which to Marinette looked so condescending that she wants to punch that smile off his face. "Anyways, good luck and I'm sure that there'll be another path for you." He 'advised' helpfully and leave Marinette seething and glaring murderously on his disappearing back.
Oh, she'll show him. If before she just wants to give her best for this interview and just leave everything to fate, now she's determined to get that job. She'll show him how much of a terrifying secretary she could be.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dick couldn't believe his odds to stumble upon the girl that he had met as Nightwing. The one that had confused his mind with the way the reports told how she had handled the Riddler and his goons. When the girl had sent him to the ground with her powerful stumble and had stuttered out her apology he was ready to believe that what happened with the Riddler had been a fluke.
There was no way that someone like her could do what the reports had stated. Yep, Dick now has a firm belief that what she had done was certainly a fluke. When she introduced herself and told him that she was here for the Secretary/PA interview with Bruce he winced inwardly.
The girl will be eaten by the wolves, where in this case the wolf is Bruce, but he digresses. So he wished the girl good luck and it seems that she had taken it wrongly. Dick had to find the right words to not hurt Marinette's feelings and after saying his piece he thought that he had done a pretty decent job to shoot down any hope for working as Bruce's PA.
He knows his adopted father and he knows that Bruce doesn't appreciate a scatterbrain of a secretary, even if she's quite pretty. He left the girl in the hallway thinking that it'll be the last time he'll ever see her again.
Short answer from the universe? He was wrong. He was so wrong.,
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marinette waits outside of the CEO's office, still stewing from that guy's condescending attitude. Not even Nooroo's gentle pat could calm down her rage. She hopes that she won't see that guy soon because as much as she prides her ability to control her emotions she wouldn't count herself to not slap the guy silly.
"Ms Dupain-Cheng, Mr Wayne is ready for your interview." Called the lovely secretary who gave her an encouraging smile.
Marinette shoot out from her seat and nodded excitedly. "Thank you! I'm ready now." She said as she pats down her skirt to smooth any wrinkles away. She marched confidently to the office and greet the familiar man with a bright smile.
"M Wayne! We meet again!"
"Ah, Marinette. I can call you that right?"
She nodded with a confident smile as she approach his desk and waited next to the chair in front of him waiting for his permission.
"Oh! Please, sit-sit! I'm sure you already know what we're going to do today?" He asked with a pleasant smile. Marinette took a seat and gave a small shrug.
"I have to say, M Wayne. Madame Bourgeois informed me on such short notice that I'm afraid my preparation would not be as much as I wanted." She explained elegantly.
"Really? Audrey gave you such short notice? Do you want to reschedule the interview?" Bruce offered fully expecting her to accept the new agreement, instead, Marinette shook her head.
"Oh, no. I'm ready." She confidently declined. "I have a point to prove." She added with a smirk. Bruce chuckled and with that, the interview starts.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marinette didn't know how they even moved to this topic but right now, instead of interviewing, Marinette is eagerly pointing out the flaws of Batman's hero costume as well as the early Robins costume. Thankfully, Bruce didn't seem put off instead he was listening very intently and even took some notes from her rant. It was pretty surrealistic.
The interview had started out great and it didn't feel like she was being interviewed for a job position, to be honest. They talk about her ability to plan on her feet and anticipate unexpected occurrences. They talk about how she manages Audrey's schedule and made sure the company runs smoothly if one of the others is not present in HQ. Bruce even asked about how she handles difficult business partners or clients and considering the pleased smile on his face she felt like she nailed this interview. At one point, Bruce had asked about her fashion business and Marinette had excitedly explained how she started the business when she was thirteen during the heights of Hawkmoth's reign of terror. All in all, she would consider this a success!
While she was going to move on to talk about the atrocious colour shade that the first Robin had, Bruce Wayne's secretary had come inside the office to inform them about the fitting appointment that they had in one of the reserved meeting rooms. So, they ended the interview there and leave the office while discussing a new topic which is about capes.
"I'm just saying M Wayne, I just think that they should invest in an easily removed cape system. Imagine if the enemy manages to get their hands on the cape? Disaster!" She rants as Bruce frowned thoughtfully.
"You may have a point. Anyways, perhaps we should shelve this conversation for another time. We're here." He said as he opened the meeting room to show that there was already someone inside. "Ah! You're here, perfect. Marinette, I'd like to introduce you to my son. Richard Grayson."
Before either person could introduce themself they both gasped dramatically and pointed at each other with a different variety of shock.
"YOU!"

Bruce: The next person who says "weird flex, but okay" is going to be benched from the patrol for a whole year!
Damian: Preposterous boast, but alas.

Anti-hero!Mari (Red Robin!Mari) w/ Robin!Tim? please?
Originally I was gonna go for Villain!Mari but I ended up writing her as more like an anti-hero and the main idea of this au is "What if Red Hood already had a Robin before he met Tim?" And so-- Mari with grey morals <3
_____
"Red is such a good color on you!" The guy winced, smelling the iron from the blood dripping down his nose.
Marinette, or, rather, red robin was sitting in front of him, casually leaned back, her legs crossed as she smirked at him.
"You know, not that many people can pull off that much red. But it's such a beautiful color~" she swooned.
"Matches me perfectly, don't you think?" And it was true. Her outfit, asides from the occasional literal dots of fading black, was mostly red. It was bright, reminded him of the shining annoying red light in a stop sign.
"Yeah, it does sweetheart. Only you can match that obnoxiously bright red."
So he's got a death wish, so what? It's Gotham. All traces of amusement faded from Red Robin's face. She held him by his chin, pulling him forward forcefully with no care about his dislocated shoulders still being held together firmly by the old chair.
"I don't like you." She nearly growled in his face.
He smiled at her, a picture of madness. "Not even a little bit, sweetheart?"
Red Hood pointed his gun at them. "Drop him, red."
Red Robin took a look at him, pouting. "Can't we just break him? Do a whole truth serum thing?"
Red Hood sighed, hiding his gun and walking back to lean on a wall. "No, we don't have access to any of that yet."
"Then what's the point of getting this piece of shit?"
"I was hoping we could intimidate him." Marinette snorts, hand coming up her face to hide her grin.
"Yeah. We. Alright boss, since it's a group project, I'm calling time-out. Your turn~"
______
She likes to flirt with Tim and be as chaotic as possible (unfortunately Tim and Jason don't really let her.)
______
Marinette grinned at him. "Don't you look cute down on your knees like that, huh pretty bird?" Tim frowned, focusing on the wires and trying to ignore the annoying little copybird that followed him.
It was hard when she kept poking him. "Pretty bird. Pretty bird. Pretty bird."
Is this what it felt like to wake up to an alarm clock when all you wanted to do was sleep? Probably. Don't ask him, it's been a long time since all he wanted to do was sleep.
"Pretty bird."
"What." Tim nearly spat the word out, annoyance crystal clear.
"I'm bored."
"Then go find fun, I don't know, rob a bank of something."
"Hood wouldn't like that"
"Then go find hood"
"But I don't like hood right now. He's being some sort of sad sappy sap." Tim wants to be a sad sappy sap if it meant he could get this annoying little tick away from his side.
"If he isn't being a sap then he's some angry bastard. That's not what I signed up for, thanks." Marinette tutted. Though Tim couldn't see her, some part of him knew that she lifted her chin a bit higher.
"It was in the fine print. Now go back to your partner."
"But pretty bird~" 'Kwami, help me' Tim thought to himself.

Maribat Master List | Prompt List
Okay before y’all scream at me, I wanna say sorry for being MIA again. it’s just that right after the week of my pre-test, the next week I had exams. And you know the other reason why I could not upload anything was because my brain just kept on going READ! READ! READ! DRAW! DRAW! DRAW! instead of WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! so what can I do???
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this!
Warning: Swearing and cuss words are present. Please read with caution, thank you!
Sorry, But Discipleship Employment Isn’t Really In Season Right Now
It was a regular day, just like any day, where Marinette comes out of her house to get groceries and punches (re: annihilates) a few bad guys here and there.
And it sucks.
Yes, she may be a hero, but always punching villains or alien-looking... organisms (???) who just goes down in one go still felt tedious. Who knew that the villains outside of Paris are more abstract-looking? It made Hawkmoth’s Akuma designs look like masterpieces, to be honest.
But somehow, she doesn’t know how, somebody saw her. And that lead to that man? Robot? Cyborg? (she kind of heard a name but she can’t really remember it) following her and saying something. And she honestly couldn’t understand him. No, she couldn’t even hear him with all the rubbles falling and the debris swirling around her after she just punched that mosquito-looking girl (Come, on! Even Hawkmoth doesn’t go this far!).
Honestly, she just doesn’t want to be rude so she kept on saying yes and yes. Which, in hindsight, is not the best idea. Ever. Because if she heard correctly, she might have just said yes to a discipleship thingy. Hopefully not. Hopefully her hearing has gotten a bit worse over time.
“Master!”
Okay, so it turns out that was a fucking lie. Her having a few hearing problems are a lie and it’s the fucking worse time to not exist/to not be a fact.
She drags her feet to her door and doesn’t look at the peephole because she could feel the mechanical energy the cyborg was giving out and just cracks the door open and pops her head out. “You really came,” she points out the obvious. “What was your name again?” she asks.
“I am Damian, Master Marinette!” he all but shouts.
“Can you not call me Master?” she frowns.
“Teacher!”
“Don’t call me that either.” she sighs and rubs the side of her head. This is going to be another headache. She leads him to her living room and sets a cup of tea in front of him (she didn’t want to be rude, no matter how much of a bother he was being, she needs to be hospitable), “Drink that and then leave. I’m not really looking for a disciple right now, sorry.”
The cyborg frowns and looks down at his lap. Oh, merde, don’t be like that. You can’t win her with pity. Nope, nada, no pitying here!
Marinette lets out a sigh and really looks at him. Somehow, she could kind of see ears on his head and a tail on him like a dog, making her choose to either destroy her image and pet him or make her face stay neutral and refrain from moving.
“Oh,” she looks at his arms, “You’re all healed up now?” she asks in genuine confusion. Huh... wasn’t he just looking about to combust yesterday because of that mosquito girl?
“Yes, most of my body is a machine so if I have spare parts...” he drags on.
“You're a weird one, aren’t you?” she mumbles. She wasn’t quite sure whether he didn’t hear her and decided to just not ask her anything or if he was just that persistent (so much so that he’s even got o her house—wait, how did he even know her address??!), though because he still continued.
“Well, what kind of parts do you use, Master?” he asks her with genuine interest that it kind of weirds her out. Not that he was technically normal in her book in the first place, though.
“I don’t use any.” she shrugs her shoulders.
“What?” he asks with shock. “Then what’s that on your belt?” he points at the round metal thing on her hips.
“That’s my weapon.” she nods at the object. It may be small and compact but it has saved her life countless of times.
“Impossible. That would mean you’ve been carrying around a yoyo! A kid’s toy! A—”
“It is a yoyo! So, shut up! What is your problem?!!” she shrieks. How dare he insult her weapon! She didn’t judge him when he came into her home looking like a conjured-up piece of gadgets!
“Y-You want to know about me, Master?” he asks and even has the audacity to look sheepish!
“NO!” she screeches.
“It all started when my mother drugged my father and basically raped him just to conceive me and make me the heir to a bunch of assassins. I wasn’t born normally and was grown and perfected in an artificial womb and as soon as I could speak, I was taught various things that exceeds a normal three-year-old’s mind. And just as I was able to walk, I was given blades and was raised to be the perfect assassin. I’ve had blood on my hands ever since I was a child and I regret it. I regret following my grandfather and mother’s orders and being a dog to the League.”
Wow, that was a lot for something she didn’t even ask about.
“And then I turned ten—”
Okay, he’s still not done.
“And was shipped off to Gotham where I met my father and his gaggle of adopted children, who I tried to murder on my first day because I thought that I needed to establish myself as my father's biological son and the heir to his company; which I also very much regret. But now, we’re... kind of okay? We're still not that close and would sometimes still try to kill each other but I’m working on it. So right now, I am currently travelling all over the world to try and to at least better myself so that when the time that I return home comes, I would be someone that could proudly stand in front of Father. So—”
“Shut up! That’s too long, I don’t have all day! Summarize it in twenty words or less!” she explodes. Why the fuck is she always surrounded by weirdos?
The cyborg—Damian, she reminds herself—looks at her sheepishly and coughs awkwardly to the side. “I apologize,” he says and looks back at her straight in the eyes, but this time with unwavering confidence. “Master, this is the short version: Please teach me how to become strong like you!”
Marinette almost chokes on her own spit and stares at him like his head just got blown off all of a sudden (and it might just come true of he doesn’t stop saying bullshit!). What the fuck?
