Flatid planthopper nymph ✨🐝💛
Tumblr media

Teensy-weensy Planthopper nymph (Possibly Thionia quinquata), since my camera declines to focus where I want it to focus, this is the only reasonable pic I got of it....

Fresh Apache degeeri just dropped ❤️
These lovely planthoppers grow up as silly little nymphs in rotting logs, turning into these magnificent creatures as adults. This one appears to have very recently molted to adulthood. I love them, of course.

Planthopper ID - NY, USA:
Hello, yes, I'm pretty sure that this is the nymph (it doesnt have wings) of a planthopper (probably Cicadellidae), but there aren't great resources for identifying these.
Some ideas are Fieberiella sp., Xerophloea sp., Gyponana sp.
Any ento people on here have another idea?

since you liked the last barely-identifiable tuft of arthropod matter so much, here’s another:
this is a ricaniid planthopper nymph creeping furtively away from me while hiding behind its wax plume tail.
as an adult, it will lose the wax fluff and hold its broad wings flat when at rest, like these ricaniids I saw nearby. I’m not sure if the nymph belongs to any of these species, though.
