I got married this summer!! And I spent the year leading up to it designing & patterning & making my dresses! So here they are; unfortunately my photo selection is pretty limited cause our photographer got almost no fullbody pictures of me alone from the front, but w/e
My wedding dress/outfit/what have you consisted of an Edwardian-ish blouse and a skirt which I drafted off of an actual Victorian walking skirt pattern except since I didn’t wanna obtain/wear a corset & bustle I took out the hip shaping so it just turned out to be a partial circle skirt that’s a little longer and fuller in back. Oh, and the front panel was actually two overlapping panels which could be folded back and attached to the inside of the skirt. I wore it closed at the actual marriage part which I didn’t get good pics of, and open at the ring ceremony, which is where all the above pics were taken. The pants were resale, but I did make my veil and bouquet!
The second dress was very inspired by this set of classic lolita OP’s (particularly the one in the first two pics) which I first saw back in 2021 and I’d been itching to make something similar ever since, so I picked up the fabric for it when it was on sale back at my old job and then pencilled it in as my reception dress so I would actually get around to making it. (Although fun fact both of these outfits STILL need more sewing done before they’re completely ready for regular wear lol. Someday) I got the cameo for the brooch off Etsy (it has a butterfly on it) and my grandma bought me the shoes for Christmas last year, though I added the bows to them (they’re removable and I also made a pink set) and also made the earrings and hair bow.
Anyway we recently got done moving and stuff so hopefully I will be able to do more art soon! (Also they/them preferred as usual 💜)

Girl Scout Gold Award | Help Needed!
Hi all! I'm a Girl Scout who has a deeply rooted passion for the outdoors and am currently making a deeper dive into the industry through my work, education, and personal projects.
One of those is my Girl Scout Gold Award, which is a project that I've centered around helping youth to form connections with one another and the outdoors. To do this, I planned, organized, and ran a weekend-long camping trip for my Girl Scout service unit, and used that event to test run programming that I later used for an Outdoor Leadership Day that I organized, an event that brought the 6th-grade class of a local middle school- nearly 140 kids- to the camp I work at for a day full of fun activities that allowed the students to develop and practice different styles of leadership, communication, and teamwork. As the final part of my project, I created this folder of resources to assist others in bringing similar opportunities to youth in their area.
Although it is tailored to a Girl Scout community camping weekend, most of these resources can be referenced or adapted for outdoor events by any organization. I would deeply appreciate it if you shared this with anyone you know who is interested in planning an outdoor event to help me complete my project!

Getting back into the swing of things, I've decided to rework my ill-fated Shadow cosplay! I wasn't super satisfied with it, so there's a lot to do to bring it up to snuff. (it's a bit of a hellscape getting anything shipped right now, so I can't really work on a whole lot unless it uses leftover materials at home.) Spent a couple days digging around to find a good pair of shoes that look the part. I considered making Air Shoes covers to go over a pair of regular shoes... But it wouldn't be solid enough for my taste. Don't want them getting too damaged after just a day.
These are by far the coolest shoes I own now, haha. Even has little bits underneath that are reminiscent of the jets, they're perfect!

Oh hey random storytime:
My mother had a dog of a fairly unusual breed, the kind breed whose existence I hadn't even heard of before the breeder became a family friend. This specific dog was a zero brain cell masterpiece specimen, so while he was fucking stupid, he had an impressive enough pedigree that it would have been a waste to not take him into dog shows, maybe win a few prizes and have him sire pups.
Anyway, this one time we were at a smaller dog show, not really an amateur one but definitely not a huge international event. It was held outdoors on a football field(?), and not only was my mom's dog the only one of his breed in the show, they had somehow completely forgot to include him in the show's schedule. We had come all the way over here to show off a dog that didn't have a time, judges, or ring for him anywhere in the plans.
So while my mother isn't the type to Demand To Speak To The Manager when something doesn't go her way, everyone was in the agreement that the fuck-up was on the show runners' side, and they were very apologetic about such an unprofessional mistake. And they did manage to find a show ring with a slot to squeeze him in, just before the next breed was about to start.
So they made a quick announcement in the ring just before the scheduled breed was going to start, and into the ring went the breeder and mom's dog. And while they were doing their little lap, surrounded by a mostly quiet, uninterested audience, I heard some random kid's faint voice asking
What happened to that one?
And it suddenly hit me how funny this whole situation must look like with no context. Mom's dog or his whole breed were not on the printed out leaflet schedule of the show, in this specific ring or otherwise. If someone showed up now, or somehow otherwise missed the announcement (which wasn't even broadcasted in any way, just yelled out over the crowd by one guy), holy shit they would be confused.
The dog breed that was booked on that spot was samoyeds. My mother's dog was a peruvian inca orchid. Imagine being at a dog show in the right place at the right time, 100% expecting to see one of those fluffy clouds on the left, and out walks the motherfucker on the right.

Step 1. Planning and Research:

…Determine the goal of your event (reinforce your corporate culture, build relationships, increase sales or productivity, etc.)
…Choose a date, location, and time.

…Some companies book both a band and a DJ if it is a multi-day event.
…If you are booking a band, try to talk to others who have hired them to make sure that they are professional and reliable, making sure that they have experience with corporate events. The difference in good entertainment and great entertainment can make a dance floor go from ten people to overflowing.
…WARNING: Some DMCs (Destination Management Companies) offer low-quality bands that give them a larger profit margin. Sometimes they do this while claiming to have the best entertainment in the area. If you are not impressed with their options, search elsewhere.  If they don’t have a live video of a band you love, search elsewhere. Remember, YOU will be the hero if that dance floor is packed, and everyone will remember it for a long time.
Step 2. Begin Booking and Promoting:

Step 3. Invitations and Confirmations:
…Send out your invitations and encourage people to RSVP by a specific date.
…Confirm your hotel, venue, entertainment, and food.
…If your venue is outdoors, make sure you have a weather backup plan.
…If applicable, let guests know if they will need transportation from the hotel to the venue or if you will provide it.
…Confirm staff/volunteer responsibilities.
…If possible, visit the venue to make sure you know exactly how you want to set up (tables, food, stage, etc.) An Event Designer at Ranch Events can help you do a walkthrough of the venue to determine where tables, etc. should be placed.
