Realizing how Alma’s childhood home makes it sound like they were well off, but they weren’t they just got lucky to have lived in the same place for so long and they didn’t just take money for services rendered. Sometimes for long term care if there was a family member or someone that was a carpenter they could fix up the house in exchange. Paintings and yarn given by those that only had crafting skills to offer. Some gave food from gardens and farms, some did give money but overall they were taken care of because of those around them. And people married into the family weren’t always healers or not all took to the trade so they could do other trades. Basically that house was built over years and generations so it looked nicer than what it started out to be.
