So here is my self-made fic reading and commenting challenge bingo card. Categories will also be listed under the cut lol
I tried to make this as specific to my fic reading track record as possible given that, well, it’s a challenge for me, but if anyone’s interested in me making a spruced up version for others to use just let me know!! Also feel free to make your own version custom-tailored to your own reading habits and read along with me (when I get to reading) because, as they say, it’s free real estate :)))
You’ll notice that many of these categories could overlap with each other, which I did on purpose as a way to encourage me to read more instead of less (I might get discouraged to read something if, say, it doesn’t get me a bingo) which I think with this selection reading more is possible to achieve!!
As for the technical aspects of this, I originally came up with 26 categories and then used a random number generator to determine placements (the two categories that didn’t get used, surprisingly, were Tendies and Malik Ishtar Centric) and put a free space in the middle because oh golly we love us a free space don’t we <33
I’m thinking of either doing this as a two week, four week, or 31 day challenge… will just have to see what I end up projecting I have time for!! But for now, at least I have a card mocked up
TLDR Bingo time here we come (soon!!)

Proc Gen / HyperDec: Part 1
HyperDec - Intro
Originally, before it was called HyperDec, the procedural “decking” system was built out to be able to evaluate the height of terrain at a given XY position & procedurally populate those spaces with props, using seed-informed deterministic random value selections for things like position, rotation, and scale, as well as parametric variation for things like space between props, maximum count, height and slope ranges, spawn area, etc.
From there, we wanted to explore applying artistic intentionality with props/clusters of props, being able to define “child spawns” that would anchor themselves around spawned instances. Pieces had filters for what kinds of surfaces they could and couldn’t spawn on, as well as custom avoidance filters and world-aligned texture masks, so users could parameterize relational behaviors between types of props, all of which were piped into a global HISM array.
youtube
youtube
After proving out simply laying out these pieces & giving them relational considerations, we moved onto zone targeting. In addition to randomized terrain on each run (more on terrain from Len) we wanted to have distinctive zones with unique props in each. Thanks to some very clever programming from Peter Hastings, Senior Gameplay Engineer, we were able to very efficiently read zone data encoded into world-aligned textures, and filter placement accordingly.
Artists and designers could create Data-Only-Blueprint assets that would contain primary and secondary assets to spawn, and their parameters for placement on the terrain. This workflow of randomized terrain with zone identifications became the foundation of our procedural decking paradigm.
Initially, this paradigm worked out well. But over time, we ran into issues when trying to implement at scale.
A Setback
The implementation we had started to run into issues as it continued to grow. Rather than only placing static props using this system, we began utilizing it for placement of gameplay objects, applying more robust filtering for things like flatness detection, and our evaluation of terrain was happening at runtime per-prop, with prop counts getting up into the 70K - 100K range, which meant that the startup time for each run took longer and longer.
We also ran into issues with balancing density & variation with replication for multiplayer; all of these tens of thousands of objects needed to consistently show up on every player’s instance. Having all procedural placement done on the server and then passing that enormous amount of data to players on begin play was unfeasible, and so instead we would only have the server spawn gameplay relevant pieces, and then each connected client would receive a seed number from the server to feed into the client-side placement of props. Utilizing the same seed across all clients meant that even though they were spawning objects locally, they would all spawn with the same transforms informed by the seed.
While we were able to achieve a satisfying amount of variation and distinction, it became clear that the increasing generation time wouldn’t be sustainable long-term.
Rethinking Our Design Paradigm
Tech Art & Engineering sat down and re-thought our design paradigm for procedurally generated content in the game, and wound up completely re-working our implementation from the ground up.
We were able to move away from a solely-blueprint-driven pipeline for procedural decking, leveraging faster C++ execution, thanks to some awesome effort put in by Justin Beales, Senior Gameplay Engineer. We also moved the per-prop terrain evaluation from runtime to design-time. This allowed us to pre-determine placement of objects and then feed very simple data into a runtime system that grabbed the objects and their intended locations and place them accordingly. Each stage’s variants would have coinciding data to reference, and using a DataTable to layout objects & parameters, we could “pre-bake” candidate points for each object type in the editor, and then save that data for quick reference on begin play. So while there are a limited number of variants as a whole, the selection of candidate points from the list could be randomized with a seed, meaning that the same variant could have unique prop/gameplay layouts every time.
Now that we had generation in a better spot, we set out to expand on the artistic intentionality of the pieces being spawned. It became clear over time that the use of anchor-clustering & avoidance distances would not be enough to make these levels look less like math in action and more like art. This idea and conversation led to the creation of HyperFabs, which are spawned just like regular props via HyperDec, but have some more advanced logic & artistic implications.
HyperFabs
HyperFabs take the concept of Prefabs (prop or object arrangements saved as a new object for re-use) and add some additional utility & proceduralism to them.
The overall idea is that artists can lay out arrangements/mesh assemblies, that are intended to represent a small part of what would normally be a hand-decorated level. They then can use a custom script we’ve built to store those meshes in a generated Blueprint asset, that can then be placed on the terrain. The center point of the actor will align to the terrain, but then based on rules exposed that artists can tweak and assign to components/groups of components using Tags, the individual pieces in the HyperFabs will also conform to the terrain surrounding the actor’s center point in the world. It takes our original idea of relational spawning, but allows artists to lay out these relations through traditional level design tools instead of strictly through DataTable parameters.
A boulder assembly turned into a HyperFab, made by Will in Enviro
It doesnt have to just be for small arrangements though; entire city blocks have been baked into a HyperFab, which conforms to varying terrain as expected.
A city block assembly turned into a HyperFab, made by Wolf in Enviro
The script for baking HyperFabs from mesh assemblies is smart enough to know when to use static mesh components versus mesh instancing, and it also has a utility to merge stacked/co-dependent objects into new static mesh assets, which helps with performance & automation.
On to Part 2...

Unusual Divination Methods
A long ass list of methods of divination, just in case you’re curious ~~~~~~
Divination is the method of discerning answers beyond a direct interaction. It can be used for foreseeing future outcomes or problems, but that isn’t inherent. It can also be used to commune with entities like deities or spirits, or even for delving deeper into the self (like shadow work).
There are many forms of divination. So many. There are even many forms of what would be considered “unusual” beyond the more commonly practices like cartomancy, runes, or stichomancy. Today I shall be focusing on ones I’m familiar with so I can better elaborate and answer questions.
The methods I will be exploring today:
Aleuromancy: divination using flour (or a flour substitute!)
Catoptromancy: a form of scrying using a mirror (my method uses a cast iron pan actually!)
Osteomancy: divination using bones
~~~~~~
Aleuromancy
A form of divination using flour that’s mentioned in some Mesopotamian cunefiorms, as well as being practiced in Greece and Rome. There are a couple ways this can be done. Firstly is when you pour out the dry flour and look at the way it falls into a bowl or on a plate or surface. Much like tea leaf reading (tasseography), you seek out shapes in the flour and interpret based on that. Another variation is doing the same but after you’ve mixed the flour with the liquids you’re baking with and kneaded it/mixed it and then taken it away to be baked. You examine the remaining streaks of wet dough on your surfaces for shapes and patterns.
The third method is to actually put slips of paper into the items you’re baking to be taken at random and broken open to answers questions after they’re cooked (akin to fortune cookies). This can be a tricky process depending on what sort of paper or ink you’ve used (speaking from experience :-X). The historical Greek version of this used excerpts of famous philosophy and mixed the balls of doughs nine times (a significant number in Ancient Greece)
It can take a lot of patience to try and find shapes and patterns in flour and admittedly it’s much easier with tea leaves. No wonder that became the standard. Don’t get disheartened if it isn’t something you have success with. You might have more fun and results experimenting with the baking slips of paper into dough methods. Great for ritual cookies!
The kind of divining using this method is very simple, more “omen-like” than detailed q&as like in Tarot or runes. Expect to see simple images that may give insight to something coming your way (a boat or bird showing a trip) or warn of a specific type of trouble that may be on the horizon (a money sign showing finances) rather than getting a formulated question clearly answered. However, you can dabble in that methodology when using the slips of paper instead. That way is more akin to stichomancy where you get a general idea or snapshot of the emotion or proverb-like metaphor to your question.
The type of flour can be tailored to help “fine tune” the reading as well- much like a certain flavor or tea or a certain deck of cards. Keep in mind that all types of grains/flours have a baseline association with prosperity and material gain/finances so this method of divination is especially good for those type of questions!
Flour Correspondences:
Acorn: An uncommon one in stores of course, but has deep wildcrafting results if you have the time and patience to grind some yourself. Associated with protection, health, money, healing, potency, fertility, luck, wealth, wisdom, and personal power.
Almond: creativity, luck, wisdom, spiritual understanding, nostalgia
Buckwheat: Money, protection, dreams and sleep
Flaxseed: health, finances, prosperity, beauty, psychic powers
Oat: family, home, hearth, money
Potato: protection, banishing, soothing/healing
Rice: prosperity, career/job, travel, romantic relationships/sex
Wheat: general prosperity, rebirth/renewal, solar energy
~~~~~~
Catoptromancy
From the Greek word katoptron, meaning mirror, this is a form of scrying that specifically uses a mirror rather than flame, water, or crystal ball. However, my version is a bit of a kitchen witch twist on it. We’ll get to that in a moment!
The Wikipedia article on it refers to a Greek temple that used this method but it was also practiced in many other countries in history. There’s references to the “true seeing” of Hathor/Het-Hert/ḥwt-ḥr mirrors as well, despite them being mainly for practical purposes. The divination is practiced most commonly by placing a mirror near water, outside in moonlight, or near a candle flame. Then the reader looks into the mirror and interprets the images seen. They can be direct appearance-based (how you look) or seeing other images. The mirror can be a standard one, a painted one, or one made of a more opaque substance like obsidian or metal.
I will say personally, I practice catoptromancy in an “inner eye” scrying way rather than a pattern/tasseography way. That means that I am the conduit and the mirror/surface is to help me get into a trance state and what I “see” will be from my mind’s eye or may likely be added to what little I see on the surface through intuition and that sixth sense. But either method is absolutely fine.
I also don’t use a mirror. I use a well loved, well seasoned cast iron skillet for my catoptromancy, with a lighted candle usually. The glossy surface is mostly black iron but is just mirrored enough from being soaked in fat over the past decades of seasoning that it performs quite well for scrying. And the sentimental value helps it’s power. You may want to select an object in a similar fashion. You can choose an important mirror (the size doesn’t matter) or pick something that is mirror-like. The reflective ability is all that matters.
Get settled down in a comfortable spot without too much light. Get your one light source ready; a candle, the moon, a small table lamp or booklight even. You’ll want to be grounded, centered, and calm and then let yourself “zone out” in order to get into the mindset for scrying. Then examine your own reflection for certain aspects that stand out or look past yourself (or angle the mirror to not be looking right at you) to see other shapes or patterns that you expand upon with your trance state. Keeping a journal for this method is especially important. There’s an emotional and internal reflection aspect that can be helpful to refer back to and examine how things went in your life after certain sessions. It can also pair well with dream magic. What you were seeking might manifest after the trance mirror session in your dreams. This method of divination is especially good for shadow work as well.
~~~~~~
Osteomancy
Bones, bones bones! Throwing the bones! Examining the bones! Reading the bones! This is a divination method that obviously uses bones in order to determine associations and messages. It was prevalent in so many cultures throughout ancient and more recent history that it’s hard to pin down a single source. However, there are definitely methods that have particular cultural ties and those should be respected when it comes to closed ones.
Much like runes or staves, the most common method counts upon both the appearance of the bones themselves as well as their placement in a “casting” (when you gently toss them onto a flat surface). Casting sets also frequently include items that aren’t just bones like small stones, coins, shells, pieces of jewelry, etc.
You can carve, mark, paint or stain the bones in ways that have personal associations to you to help in reading them. You can obtain these bones in any ethical way you are comfortable with. I don’t believe they have to be remains you have processed yourself; though that can add a different spiritual component. You should be considerate in collecting your set though. There is no set number of objects to have (even a single piece can answer yes/no questions) but I don’t recommend starting out of the gate with a pile. You should get comfortable with each piece and determine its associations before moving on to a new one.
Unlike Tarot, they don’t come with set meanings. Though there are sometimes obvious ones: a coin for finances, a seedpod or nut for fertility/prosperity, a sharp tooth for protection, etc. Think about what creature the bone is from, what part of the body, what shape it has when helping determine your personal associations. Treat it like a correspondence for herbs or crystals and that way you can have a more organic “sliding scale” type meaning for when you cast rather than a rigidly detailed one like with Tarot. For example: a meaning like “luck” or “prosperity” is better than “success in work”. It’s also common to have objects touch and then their meanings are joined. In the previous example you could get promotion/raise at work from having a work piece crossing with a prosperity or luck piece.
It is also up to you on what level of ritualized dedication and/or care you would like to give your set. Many people like to do a special dedication ritual to almost “welcome” the item to its new job as a divination tool (my own is what I call “Massaging the Bones”). You can also regularly cleanse and “feed” the casting set (energy that is- not literal food, though you could give it energy from something you’ve cooked in a non-literal way!). I do recommend a special bag or box to keep everything in as well as a soft thicker cloth to cast on. Just so the items don’t get damaged. Be careful in your casting. Practice a lot to know your strength level to throw while still keeping the objects safe. There may be a couple pieces (like baculums or thinner bird bones) that you need to wrap in a square of cloth before storing with the rest of your set for extra protection. This is especially true if you plan to take your set anywhere where it’ll be traveling in a bag or purse.
You can have a ritual circle of string or another material (embroidery hoop!) you lay out to help organize your cast if you like too. This is usually treated one of two ways. Like the face of a clock and items “closer” to certain times are more immediate and further away items around the imaginary numerals are more in the future. Or it’s concentric and the closer to the center of the circle are more important/relevant and then less relevant or immediate as you get closer to the edge. Those that fall outside the circle aren’t relevant to the reading.
This is a divination method you need an large amount of patience for as it is basically creating a tool yourself from scratch, even if you buy the supplies from elsewhere. The framework is laid by you. And just like someone designing a Tarot deck from scratch; be gentle with yourself and allow yourself the room to practice, change, grow, have fallow periods, return, get bored, become fanatic, etc. It’s a process sort of divination that grows like a living thing. This makes it a bittersweet one- rewarding and frustrating but mostly immensely satisfying.
~~~~~~
Divination is something that can be tailored to your desires, needs, and supplies. It can be made personal. You can create a whole new type if you like! Use what inspires you, what works for you. Use the marks on toast, the recommendations of Netflix, steam in a bathroom mirror after a shower. The world is your oyster!

Castlevania: Curse of Darkness ~ It’s Just Like Symphony of the Night, Except Not At All! [Part IV]
When asked recently if Curse of Darkness is good, I answered: no; but, I’ve played through it about ten times. So, on a subjective level that can’t really be transmitted to other people by telling them what to focus on (although I’ll try to enumerate what I focus on), there is something here that, well, I just like. I’m not the sort of person to make the claim that, “[X] is a fine videogame, but a bad [series-name] videogame.” That’s not my conclusion -- to suggest that there is an inherent goodness to the series I like just because it generally excites my palate, and that anything below one’s standard is a “betrayal” of that inherence.
Even though difficulty isn’t what I go to videogames looking for, I think what makes Curse of Darkness work best for me is its hard mode, accessed by finishing the game once and then inputting “@CRAZY” for your file name on a new file (the same goes for Lament of Innocence). The norm for the Castlevania series and iterative challenge has been “loops” -- clearing the game once and then having it roll over automatically to a new game, whereupon enemies deal more damage and are perhaps more numerous and/or newly appearing. Although these adjustments have provided an extra challenge, the presence of new material, of differing enemies or enemy placements, has tended to be relatively minimal. The first Castlevania, for example, halts its modifications on stage four on subsequent loops. CoD’s hard mode is remarkable in that pretty much every area has been edited for enemy type and occurrence. It is also, at least on some hypothetical level, the toughest of any Castlevania hard mode. Hours in, you will still be easily slain in just a few hits, your curative capacity is strict, and money is tight. What all of this means, for me, anyway, is that Curse of Darkness becomes a sort of brutal dungeon crawler: the endurance which the level design, by default, asks of the player better matches what you need to do in order to survive until the next save point.
What it also means is that you might be compelled to more intentionally curate your familiars, here called Innocent Devils. Normally, these critters are absolutely peripheral, excepting a handful of spots where one’s ability is required for progress. On hard mode, having the right familiar in the right situation, using the right abilities, is an enormous help -- sometimes, the difference between your life and death. If I could retroactively magically redirect all of the labor poured into the Innocent Devils to the level design, of course I’d do it in a heartbeat; but the variety that effort produced -- the physical differences between a Devil’s evolutionary forms, their skills, and the descriptions for each (two of my favorites: “A star motif graces the rod of this mage. Its owner dreams of one day becoming one with the stars”, and “Pure rage in corporal form, it is chaos with wings. Many find its anguished form hard to look at”) -- has its place among the rest of the game’s marginalia. Without them, too, Curse of Darkness would perhaps be an overly lonely experience.
Curse of Darkness has something in common with KCET’s post-Game Boy Advance Castlevanias (most of all Order of Ecclesia), which is that its bosses are excellent -- fun to look at and fun to fight, especially on hard mode, where precise mechanical execution is mandatory. The downside is that they are, in fact, so good that returning to the game as usual after each can be especially deflating. Just as fun are the narrative interludes featuring some wonderfully on-point voice acting by, best of all, Liam O’Brien (as Isaac) and Adam D. Clark (as St. Germain), and, somehow, some of the subtlest facial expressions found on the console. To be sure, the characterizations are limited -- caricatures more than characters -- but what they lack in humanistic texture (something perhaps not to be sought in this series) they make up for in flair. People might pick on the Lords of Shadow titles for resembling “high fantasy” ersatz with doses of Castlevania jabbed in wherever, and while that is a fair criticism, just as awful was the games’ relentlessly grieving tone, as if a suffocating sense of self-seriousness were what the material needed for effect. Curse of Darkness’ tonal strain -- reverential, obscurantist, and funny -- could not be unlikelier. There is the rendering of Trevor Belmont, after we first fight him to no avail, as a near-saintly figure; the inscrutable, fanfiction-like logic guiding the major plot beats; the way Hector, as protagonist, slams between ridiculous shrieks of vengeance and introspective “Indeed”s. It is, all in all, maybe the best-relayed storyline Castlevania has ever gotten, and maybe will ever get.
If there’s one mechanical idea, separate from the Innocent Devils, to applaud, it’s the stealing mechanic, whereby Hector can snag various items from ghouls and ghosts if done at the proper time. This is indicated by the lock-on reticule momentarily switching from orange to purple, and often requires waiting for certain animations to begin or finish. It’s a neat micro-challenge to engage if you’re so inclined (bosses are where it shines; the Wyvern, for example, has an optional aerial sequence that’s tied to the steal-window), and a nice alternative to item drops being determined by randomized success/failure rates. To be clear, randomized drops do still exist -- they’re there in the bestiary as a delineated datum -- but they’re no longer the sole possibility. For some, this mechanic might also serve as an invitation to observe Dracula’s army with a heightened degree of purposefulness, to better appreciate the effort that went into giving its members life. However viewed, it’s kind of a shame that the idea remains unique to Curse of Darkness. I suppose pure statistical randomness pumps up the playtime for anyone who enjoys grinding; but the intentionality underpinning the stealing mechanic, the terms of its execution and our means of utilizing it, is a tantalizing window into an alternative, less number-crunchy shape for the action-RPG mold of Castlevania.
And, really, for as often as Curse of Darkness’ visuals compare unfavorably to Lament of Innocence’s, I couldn’t’ve taken as many photos of it as I did for another lo-fi-/CRT-dedicated project last year (a fraction of the results can be seen here and here) if the game’s world didn’t have an ambient luminescence of its own, albeit one thinned out by the aforementioned issues with the scope and camera, and several stale settings. In a fashion seemingly particular to PlayStation 2 releases, scores of exterior and interior spots are clothed with polychromatic, sourceless “lighting”, such that a wall’s surface might go from a deep blue to a brown-green to a purplish red. Taken as a sum, Curse of Darkness’ Wallachia is dim and gray-faced; taken constitutionally, it’s in fact abounding with colorful dispersions. Especially delightful for its brazenness is the pause menu/status screen, centralized by a pillar of neon-green stamps, headlined by a teal and an orange ochre banner, and itemized on the right by a stack of iconographic boxes. As coloration and organization go, compared to Lament of Innocence’s screen, it’s sloppy. But as a chunk of graphic design to linger in, it’s delicious, and happily recalls Harmony of Dissonance’s palettes (also directed by Takashi Takeda).
Well! That’s nearly all I have to say about Curse of Darkness right now. I’m curious if the animated Castlevania series’ second season, featuring Hector and Isaac (Isaac is physically recast and no longer queer-coded in the way media tends to do that coding; a gain and a loss, in my opinion), got some people to try this game out for the first time. If it did, I’m also curious if the show’s characterizations transferred over, maybe allowing those people to enjoy Curse of Darkness in a way foreign to myself (no, I still haven’t watched the show) and others. Could the imaginatively supplementary reach of fanfiction sustain such a playthrough? Surely it’s possible.
You can read the prior three essays on CoD here, here, and here.

💾 ►►► DOWNLOAD FILE 🔥🔥🔥 Simply create an account and contribute! See more details here Wiki Contest. Creative Mode in Space Engineers is a free building mode that allows players have the ability to place an infinite number of blocks , unlike Survival Mode where blocks must be constructed from Components , and welded in a time-consuming fashion. Batteries will quickly recharge themselves at all times. Objects can also be spawned instantly in such as Asteroids , Blueprints , and other various items. Block placement reach is also extended up to m. In Creative Mode, the player has more options when placing multiple blocks. This saves the creation in the clipboard only 1 may be copied at a time. The creation will remain in the clipboard till the player exits the game. So, copied creations from one world can be pasted in another loaded world. A copy of the deleted object will always be stored on the clipboard, and can be pasted back into the game. It must first be setup with the default - M key, then it can be used with the default - N key. Rotation and exact placement of the block s is mirrored onto the other sides. This function is only available in Creative Mode. Setting up Symmetry is done with the default - M key. Symmetry mode supports both odd and even structures, meaning that its central point does not have to be a single block, it can be two. Each color will have two settings. The first sets the mirroring from one center block odds. The 2nd sets the mirroring from two blocks on either side of the colored line even. In Creative Mode, player s can instantly spawn in nearly any object in the game, or from the workshop. This includes, but not limited to - Components , Tools , Materials , Ores , ships, stations, asteroids, and planets. Blueprints can be instantly spawned in Creative Mode via default - F10 without the need for a Projector , or Components. Any items that were inside the blueprint when it was saved will also be included when spawned. All blueprints when spawned in Creative Mode are set to Ownership - Nobody neutral. Either pre-built models ex: asteroids can be inserted, or randomly generated objects using the procedural system. Predefined asteroids are pre-built models that players can spawn in the game. They range from mountains on planets, to asteroids in space. They have no random generation. Procedural objects allow a player to randomly generate an asteroid with a different variation, and ore content each time. The variation can also depend on the size, and seed type the player chooses. It allows a player to randomly generate a planet for example with a different variation to its surface each time it is spawned in with different seeds and size settings. Their quantity can be adjusted, and then placed. It should be noted that ore quantity of Ore will increase in overall size if the value is increased. Jump to: navigation , search. Hi! I am extremely new to witchcraft. I don’t even know where to start, tarot cards and the use of crystals really intrigue me and I’d love to learn more about how to use them, where to buy them, which ones you’d recommend. I’d really appreciate it if you could get back to me thank you so much! - an aspiring witch
Hello there! Sorry for the delayed response, I’ve been so busy with the holidays, it’s been crazy. Also, in writing this, I realized this was gonna be a pretty huge response, so click below to read my full response.
To answer your first question, witchcraft is a huge, ever growing umbrella that encompasses so much knowledge, so there’s not really a cut and dry place to start. Various people might have different recommendations as far as where to start, but I started with a lot of research, and baby steps towards what I was interested in. One thing that I did at first was look up secret or closeted witch tips, not because I needed to keep my practice secret, but most of the tips were small, discrete forms of magic that I used to dip my toes into the world of witchcraft.
As I got more confident, I started focusing on more on what really interested me (I really like crystal work, tarot, essential oils/herbs, lunar witchcraft, and astrology). So I started doing some reading on all of those subjects. Going through articles online, a few books from my local library, and various Tumblr posts helped me piece together the mechanics of these various forms.
You mentioned you are interested in crystal work and tarot cards, which is great! I too enjoy working with both, and I’d say those two combined is close to the bulk of my practice (well, and enchanting, but we’ll get to that later).
Crystals are a great way to get into witchcraft because they can be combined with other practices, or used on their own. I use crystals for meditation/energy work primarily, holding the crystal I think best fits what I want to meditate on/what energy I want to work with, and focusing inward.
When I say what crystal I think best fits what I want the meditation/energy to be about, I’m referencing their metaphysical properties and associations. Throughout history, various people and cultures have connected various types of crystals to various themes, such as love, business/career, healing, protection, communication, ‘opening the third eye’ or using intuition, helping with anxiety/stress, and bringing harmony and peace, among others. There are tons of themes that are associated with various crystals.
In addition to themes or emotions that people attribute to crystals, various people and cultures connect different crystals with different parts of the body, associating different crystals with the head/the mind, the heart, the throat, the stomach, among other places. These can often line up with the theme of the crystal as well (for example, I have a necklace made with Lapis Lazuli, a stone associated with communication and honesty, as well as being associated with the throat. I really like this stone because the theme of the crystal also aligns with the biological location, and this necklace allows me to keep this crystal physically on the biological area it’s associated with)
“But where do I find this information?”
This kind of information is all over the web. A site I used a LOT when I was getting into crystal work was the Crystal Vault’s crystal encyclopedia.
https://www.crystalvaults.com/crystal-encyclopedia/crystal-guide
While it doesn’t have everything, what it does have is super detailed and really well organized. In addition, searching “(name of the stone) metaphysical properties” in google pulls more of this kind of information than a regular google search of just the stone name.
For where to buy them, I try to support local business by going to the two closest metaphysical shops near me, but I understand that’s not accessible for everyone. I’m a frequent user of amazon for crystal jewelry, and the site I linked earlier has a shop section as well (unfortunately I can’t attest to their quality of products/service as I haven’t bought from them, I know they have an expansive inventory that could be good for beginners).
other ways to use crystals include:
-as components/ingredients in spell jars/spell-work
-as talismans, amulets, or charms (wearing, carrying, or placing them in your home/space to bring a specific energy/thing into your life)
-to make crystal elixirs (a sprayable/drippable liquid that you can put on other objects to imbue them with magical power) (A NOTE WITH THIS ONE: crystal elixirs really shouldn’t be drunk, and some of them can be VERY POISONOUS, whether to drink or even to touch/make. always always always ALWAYS be safe and double check if a crystal is water soluble or toxic. It’s always better to be safe than sorry).
-hundreds and hundreds of other uses that I can’t think of off the top of my head/aren’t in my practice but could certainly be part of yours
For recommendations, a few stones I recommend for beginners/what I started with are:
-Clear Quarts: clear quartz is a great stone because it boosts the energy and ‘vibe’ of all other stones around it. I keep a clear quartz point with all my other crystals for this very reason
-Rose Quartz: a stone popular for it’s gentle pink color, rose quartz has a very loving energy and I found it very welcoming in my early practice
-Black Agate/Black Tourmaline/Obsidian/Hematite: all these stones are associated with protection. While they all have their various individual niches and energy, its good to have a protection stone around when you’re about to start doing witchcraft, as it can protect you from outside influence while you work your witchcraft.
-Amethyst: this stone is commonly associated with the mystical, intuition, divination, and reaching higher powers, a kind of witchcraft booster if you will (good for tarot, which we’re about to get to).
So that rather wraps up crystals, again always be safe as these are elements from the earth and can contain chemicals or content harmful to humans and/or pets. In addition, something I like to note is that if you’re storing crystals out in daylight, certain kinds can fade in color (amethyst and rose quartz in particular fade rather quickly if left in direct sunlight). If you want to preserve the vibrancy of your stones, check to see if they’re safe for intense sunlight before picking a display spot.
Now, onto Tarot
Tarot is one of the most well recognized forms of witchcraft. with the tarot deck being an iconic part of witchcraft. While, of course you don’t need to use tarot to be a witch, you mentioned you were interested in it.
Tarot is a form of divination using a special deck of 78 cards to predict the future. The deck is made up of 2 categories; the Major arcana and the Minor arcana.
The Major arcana has many of the more ‘iconic’ or recognizable cards from tarot. These cards generally have fancy names and do not fit a suit. Some examples of these cards are “the hierophant”, “The devil” “the lovers” and “justice”. These cards are sometimes considered more powerful than the Minor arcana.
The Minor arcana is the second part of the deck. The minor arcana has 4 suits; swords, staffs/rods, cups, and pentacles/coins (depending on what deck you have, they might use either staffs or rods, and pentacles or coins, the symbolism and meaning are the same between staffs vs rods and pentacles vs coins). Each suit in the minor arcana contains a king, a queen, a knight, a page, and 10-1 of the suit. These cards have various meaning, and while may be considered less powerful than the major arcana, can still be very enlightening and powerful.
To use tarot cards for divination is called giving a tarot reading, and while the process is in effect the same, there’s a few ways to get there.
To start, when performing a tarot reading you focus on a question. A question for a tarot reading needs to be rather general and open ended. Questions like “Does my boyfriend love me?” “Am I pregnant? and “When will I die?” are too narrow for a tarot reading to explain. A better way to phrase a question if you want this kind of information is something like “What does the future hold for my relationship?” “What does my fertility look like?” and “What does my distant future look like?”
After determining your question and focusing on it, you shuffle the cards face down and select cards (how many you select depends on what tarot spread you use, which I’ll get to in a minute). Different people have preferred methods of shuffling, and I personally like to lay all my cards face down in a messy pile and pick rather at random, touching as many cards as I can and picking which one ‘feels right’
For how many to pick up and what to do with them, we have to look to tarot spreads. Tarot spreads are patterns in which you lay out tarot cards during a reading, and the placement of the cards represent different things. A common spread is a 3 card speed, where you lay 3 cards face down in a line. going from left to right, the cards represent your past, present, and future, as related to the question. There are TONS of tarot spreads available free online, with the pattern and the placement key to tell you what each card position means. I personally like the 1 card quick draw for just getting a pulse of the situation, the 3 card spread, and @barberwitch‘s full moon clarity spread (link below)
https://barberwitch.tumblr.com/post/158286975716/barberwitch-full-moon-clarity-tarot-spread-1
once you’ve picked your cards and laid them out in a spread, you flip them over one by one in the numbered order of the spread, and interpret the cards. When I started reading tarot, I was no where even close to having the card meanings memorized, but I found this amazing app called Labyrinthos Academy (link to their desktop site below)
https://labyrinthos.co/pages/learn-tarot-for-beginners-with-our-online-tarot-classes
it’s a great app that has not only all the card meanings (as well as the inverse meanings, as tarot cards tend to mean either the opposite or near opposite when they show up upside down in a spread) in a neat, clean interface, but has a neat quiz feature to help you memorize the meanings, and the best part is it’s free for iOS and android (however, I think it is unfortunately not available for desktop). (also, fyi, while the app is built for the labyrinthos brand tarot cards, it does work with any deck, as images are fairly standardized, only really different by the difference in art styles by artists).
As far as decks, there’s a lot of superstition and tradition around tarot decks. Many say that the first deck needs to be stolen/gifted. Please don’t steal a tarot deck just to match tradition, it’s not worth the penalty, and while receiving a tarot deck as a gift is a great gift and a wonderful gesture, it could be a lot of waiting around, or if you’re a closeted witch, nearly impossible to get as a gift. I bought my first deck myself and never had any troubles with it.
The first deck I bought was, honestly, the cheapest deck I could find. I was broke and just wanted the most basic deck to get me by. I picked up a basic deck at a halloween store (link below)
https://www.spirithalloween.com/product/148287.uts
while it did it’s job (the cards were well made and didn’t fall apart, the deck didn’t have any missing cards), I didn’t like the the art style all that much, and they were really hard to read unless you had memorized what card illustration matched what card. However, for $4 USD, you really couldn’t beat the price if budget is an issue
Recently, however, I got The Essential Tarot Kit (link below)
https://www.amazon.com/Essential-Tarot-Kit-Book-Card/dp/0880882484
while it has a higher price point ($15 USD) it comes in a sturdy box that can be used for storage when not in use, and also comes with a mini book with a few basic spreads and a page of meaning for every card in the deck. I really like this because I like to not have electronics out when I do tarot readings, it can be distracting. In addition, the deck has beautiful illustrations and the bottom of the card has the name of the card in a much easier to read print.
As for where to find tarot cards, they’re readily available on sites like amazon, and most major bookstores will stock tarot kits (however if you’re looking for a certain art style, a brick and mortar bookstore might not have the best selection).
In addition to tarot cards, there’s also oracle decks, which have their own styles, number of cards, and symbolism, as well as ways to use a standard playing deck for divination. (all three of these forms of witchcraft fall under cartomancy: divination using a deck of cards).
So that pretty much wraps up tarot cards. A few notes before I close on tarot, many people have multiple decks, with some being just for personal readings, and other decks for giving other people readings (where they ask the question and choose the cards, and you help set up the spread and help with interpreting the cards). Some people also recommend having a black cloth to work on, as it blocks outside energy or influence, but I personally feel fine using my deck on pretty much any flat, clean, safe surface as long as I cleanse the area before starting. In addition, when dealing with divination, and tarot in general, remember that what the cards say is not set in stone. Just because you interpret the cards one way does not mean that exact thing will come to pass, and there’s nothing you can do about it. Tarot has been explained to me as a glimpse into the future if you do not change anything, and that you always have the power to change the future through your actions in the present.
I think that just about finishes this post. sorry it was so long, but I hope this was helpful, and thank you for the inquiry! I’m always willing to help a fellow witch, and if you have any other questions, feel free to contact me again!
happy witching! ✨🌕🔮✨

7 Strategies to Outsource Web Content Creation
The importance of quality web content creation cannot be underestimated. It is now considered to be a critical component of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for search engines to rank sites favorably in their listings. So how do you achieve good quality content creation for your site? How do you create high quality content without breaking the bank? Here are some tips that will help:
First, prioritize quality AND quantity of your web content creation for online marketing. In the past, many marketers and writers became very clever at enticing the search engines to rank sites highly for inbound links, keyword density, keyword optimization, and so much more. They started to write as many articles as they could to be listed high for as many keywords. Unfortunately, most of the articles they were writing were not properly optimized with the search engine's requirements. These articles only served to confuse the spiders, and the result was less than optimal search engine rankings.
Second, it is no longer sufficient to hire professional online writers to create your web content creation for online marketing purposes. Most new digital marketing strategies are written by freelance or semi-professional writers. However, even with freelance writers, your content needs to be tightly targeted and thoroughly optimized. Only then will your articles be ranked higher on search engine results.
Third, as with any business, the quality of your product or service is determined by your website needs. The same holds true with your online content writing services. Your website needs to have a target audience and a specific type of information to ensure your website becomes successful. Simply creating a website that caters to everyone and then posting random articles does not make sense. You need to understand who your target audience is, what they want, and how to provide a unique solution to their problems.
Fourth, the advent of various types of in-house IT professionals has resulted in many companies using their own in-house writers. This is not always a bad thing. In-house writers are able to understand the various types of digital writing, although they may not be as experienced as an external writer. When you outsource your web content creation, you are giving your writers more responsibility and more freedom to research and write unique articles that will meet your customers' specific needs. External writers may also have access to the latest technology and software programs that your in-house team is not familiar with.
Fifth, the use of article marketing strategies is still considered the most effective way to market your company. While it is important for you to create quality content to ensure the SEO of your web content creation, it is equally important for you to take full advantage of the SEO tools available to optimize your article. Using the proper keywords in the title, in the description, throughout the body of the article, and in the resource box will help you achieve a better search engine placement. If you are unable to meet the demands of the search engines, the results will be poor quality links that do not bring the customers you want. When you outsource for your in-house SEO experts, you can focus on other important aspects of marketing, such as content marketing strategies and the distribution of marketing campaigns.
Sixth, the increase of the number of individuals who are interested in creating websites has increased the need for web content creation professionals. There are many businesses and individuals who would love to create personalized blogs, create viral videos, or launch e-commerce stores, but do not know how to make a site, write content, publish articles, or submit press releases. Outsourcing these tasks allows you to focus on the other aspects of online content marketing strategies, such as SEO, link building, social media marketing, email marketing, search engine optimization, and other strategic marketing activities.
Lastly, it is important for content marketers to create highly optimized article packs. Article marketing is a proven strategy for creating backlinks, generating leads, and increasing the flow of traffic to websites. The process is relatively easy, but does require some knowledge of article directories and the rules of the article directories. Article creation professionals who understand how the different article directories work and what each author or authority does to get their articles listed will be the most beneficial to you. Optimized article packs are another great way to generate free traffic to your website and increase your sales. Look for article creation pros who offer optimized article packs and create high quality content for you.

SIDEQUEST OPTION : if you find genji on the beach anytime after your first date, a special event will occur in which he bares his soul to the player, vaguely describing his problems at home, and confessing that, lovely as the player is, he’s afraid to pursue a relationship with them for fear of them ending up tangled in his troubles. if the player has 2+ relationship points with genji, they have the option to insist. this opens up the opportunity to explore genji’s route.
BAD ENDING STORYLINE : if you lack the required relationship points with genji, he coldly breaks things off with the player, and is never seen again (save for in passing). if you pursue a relationship with hanzo after failing genji’s route, you eventually learn the truth about him along the way...
but there’s no way to save him.
( genji’s death only occurs if you get the bad end for hanzo’s route AFTER getting the bad end for genji’s route. )
FAVOURITE FOOD TYPE (breakfast, junk food, veggies, etc): junk food, though genji actually has no food type that he DISLIKES.
FAVORITE FOODS : ramen, chocolates.
FAVOURITE ALCOHOLIC DRINK: gifting genji any alcoholic beverage immediately increases his affection for you
FAVORITE ALCOHOL : sake
FAVOURITE TRAIT (romance, passion, sexuality, talent, flirtation, sentiment, joy): passion, flirtation
WHERE THEY WOULD GO ON A DATE:
first date — genji actually asks the player out, to which they’re given the option to accept or decline. if they accept, genji takes them out to a fancy diner, where he treats them to the most high class of meals. the date is filled with witty banter in which you have to select the line of dialogue that would most amuse genji. a certain number of right answers constitutes a successful date, and genji will offer to take you home with him. yeah, like that. acceptance ends his route; denial allows you to meet him on the beach and pursue his storyline. second date — genji takes the player out to a relatively remote area of the local park, where he treats them to a picnic thats more like a small feast. they remain until dusk, and genji kindly insists upon walking the player home. the streets are not always as safe as they seem, he says. third date — the player meets genji for yet another extravagant meal, but before they can even enter the building, they’re interrupted by two large men in suits, demanding that genji return home. rather than responding, he grabs the players hand and runs ! the two end up at the park, where he finally admits the truth: he’s the youngest son of the shimadagumi, a well-known yakuza group which operates out of this city. he confesses to hate his family’s operations, but is nonetheless extremely distressed that the truth has been revealed. genji reminds the player that they do not have to continue to see him, and they’re given the option to abandon his route. fourth date — the player, walking alone at night, is treated to proof of genji’s earlier words. a group of men that the player determines to be wannabe yakuza corner them the very next time they visit the bar at night ( where genji is nowhere to be found ) . just when the situation seems to be truly dire, genji suddenly appears, beating the absolute hell out of the men all on his own. after frantically worrying over the player, he takes them out for ice cream to make up for the experience. the player has the option to ask him several questions about his skills, and which he admits to extensive training in martial arts and weaponry. fifth date — genji invites the player out to the park, saying its imperative that they learn to defend themself, just a little. if the player already has a physical stat of 5+, they take their newfound knowledge, kick genji’s ass, pin him to the ground, and kiss him. if they do not, the situation is reversed. regardless of their position, the player is given the option to tell genji they love him. if they select this option, genji sheds a tear and says he loves them too.
SIDEQUEST OPTION : if the player spends the night with genji after the first date, they will meet his brother, hanzo, who subsequently kicks them out. if they have a charisma stat of 4+ and select the proper dialogue, they can convince hanzo to let them stay, and trigger a special scene in which the two have a heated argument over genji’s apparent habitual playboy tendencies. genji will not appear in any further scenes if this is witnessed.
IDEAL GIFT: love: sake, instant ramen, candied apple like: chocolate, teddy bear, cake, flowers dislike: champagne, archers gloves, arrows
WHEN WILL THEY DRINK ALCOHOL:
any time it is received, and any night he’s at the bar.
HOW MANY DATES UNTIL THEY GO TO BED:
you can bed genji any night after the third date.

HOW to WIN Betting TIE BONUS - Ez 코인카지노 - Tie Line Strategy #1562
(2015-02-24) Standard numbering of a SET® deck.Based on the new deck order from the manufacturer.Fresh from the factory, SET games come in two packs of cards ordered in a specific way. The following numbering reflects that order. Shape weight: SQUIGGLE = 0, DIAMOND = 3, OVAL = 6. Color weight: PURPLE = 0, GREEN = 9, RED = 18. Shade weight: SOLID = 0, STRIPED = 27, OPEN = 54. To obtain the new deck number of a card, add the weights of its various attributes to the number of objects on it. This gives you a number from 1 to 81 (if you'd rather number such things from 0 to 80, either subtract 1 from that total or assign a score from 0 to 2 to the number of objects). They usually offer one-hour sessions, on the odd hours, e.g. 9am, 11am, 1pm daily, typically from 9am through 11pm, with relatively modest stakes except for coverall jackpots. Five card Charlie refers to a winning hand that doesn’t (surprisingly) go bust in five added cards. It’s also a cool nickname, but confusing if the person’s name isn’t Charlie, Charlene or Charles at all. Craps exploded in popularity during World War II, which brought most young American men of every social class into the military.
Prior to dealing the cards and once all ante and progressive payout wagers have been placed, the dealer shall then announce "No more bets" and use the table game progressive payout wager system to prevent the placement of any additional progressive payout wagers. http://query.nytimes.com/search/sitesearch/?action=click&contentCollection®ion=TopBar&WT.nav=searchWidget&module=SearchSubmit&pgtype=Homepage#/엠카지노 In this way, the humble playing card sometimes becomes an important historical document, one that offers both scholars and amateur collectors a window into the past. Remember, the Dealer must have at least an Ace and King for your hand to qualify for the winning bet payouts. Caribbean Stud Poker offers the Player the challenge of poker but uses an easier to-play format. In addition, it is the first progressive play jackpot ever offered with a table game. It is played on a special table, similar to blackjack, and is based on five-card stud poker.
Eight rolled the hard way, as opposed to an "easy eight", is sometimes called an "eighter from Decatur". Andrew Dougherty made this edition of "Illuminated Great Moguls" in 1865. Reputed for his crude workmanship in primitive conditions of his Brooklyn based workshop, these particular faces above, gold embossed, probably represent the pinnacle of Doughery's career. Other great masters of the same era, such as Lewis I. Cohen and Thomas de la Rue had similarly indulged themselves so this may have been somewhat of a moment of triumph for the all American card maker. Apart from forerunners in ancient Rome and Greece, organized sanctioned sports betting dates back to the late 18th century. Though this isn't good investment or business advice in general, Smith's gamble paid off, allowing the company to last long enough to raise $11 million and eventually earn its first profits in 1976.
The first commercial gambling machines, introduced in 1896, were called slot machines because the gambler inserted a coin into a slot to begin play. In Germany and Switzerland, the two lower court cards are both on foot, representing an 'upper' and a 'lower' rank-as stated in the 1377 description of playing-cards.Switzerland also preserves another feature of early German cards.If the player loses the hand and the dealer qualifies, then the player loses the full bet.If the player wins the hand and the dealer qualifies, then the player wins the ante bet, and the raise bet pays according to a listed paytable. Zero game, also known as zero spiel (Spiel is German for game or play), is the name for the numbers closest to zero.
When a card game is played, the players arrange themselves in a circle around a horizontal surface on which the cards will be played. I will refer to this surface as the "table" although of course any flat surface can be used. The players face inwards, and are approximately evenly spaced (so that they cannot see each other's cards). The maximum prize awarded on these machines is $800, with a maximum bet of $2 per hand.The calculation of the roulette house edge is a trivial exercise; for other games, this is not usually the case. South Dakota became on October 16, 1989, the first state to adopt VLTs. In a unique arrangement with private industry, the machines are owned by private companies but monitored by the South Dakota Lottery via a centralized computer system that assures the integrity of the games.
The Berthelon Gasworks at 28 Rue du 20e Bataillon (1909)Logo monument historique - rouge sans texte.svg[11] The Gasworks contains a Gas Meter (19th century)Logo monument historique - noir sans texte.svg which is registered as an historical object. When four or more decks are used, they are dealt from a shoe (a box that allows the dealer to remove cards one at a time, face down, without actually holding one or more packs).Random number games are based upon the selection of random numbers, either from a computerized random number generator or from other gaming equipment. Random number games may be played at a table or through the purchase of paper tickets or cards, such as keno or bingo. Although the gaming industry now provides distinguished product contents and contains service consumers from different market segments and with diverse lifestyles, it still satisfies the varied needs and desires of subjects in the same tourist locations.
The American mathematician Patrick Billingsley said[11] that no betting system can convert a subfair game into a profitable enterprise. Electronic slot machines offer many different games (poker is one of the most popular) and are called by a variety of names: electronic gaming devices, video gaming terminals, video gaming devices, video poker machines, or just slots.Of course, these probabilities are a critical determinant of the house advantage – that is, the long-term price of the wager. If the come-out roll is 2, 3 or 12, the bet loses (known as "crapping out").
Over the years, many people have tried to beat the casino, and turn roulette—a game designed to turn a profit for the house—into one on which the player expects to win. First, a pachinko machine uses small (11 mm diameter) steel balls, which are rented to the player by the owner (usually a "pachinko parlor," featuring many individual games in rows), while pinball games use a larger, captive ball. 루비게임 Due to the high payout rate (RTP) approximately 99.41%, it is also one of the top table games in any casino. Additionally, the Internet has made many forms of gambling accessible on an unheard-of scale.

Corporate media: The free press isn’t free enough
This essay covers several reasons behind corporate media’s failure to cover news in a way that benefits the people. The following is the bulk of an essay I wrote years ago. It was published widely on the Internet then, and most of it can easily apply to today’s corporate news media.
In this essay, I mentioned we need real independent media, and today we have that via online journalists. Corporate owned media is still as unreliable as it was when I wrote this, but luckily many Internet media sources are reliable.
We have a free mainstream press in this country. It’s just not free enough.Thomas Jefferson said we can preserve democracy only with a fully informed electorate. If the media had fully informed voters about the antidemocratic nature of Iran-contra, would people have lobbied political leaders to alter its course? If the media had informed the public about the savings and loan scandal in a timely way, would taxpayers be burdened with the economic repercussions?
Here’s a test to determine whether the media have done a good job conveying all the news most Americans need to know about any given important news story:(1) Is that story fully understood by most Americans? Is it common knowledge? (2) Do most Americans understand the news story’s meaning and significance—in depth and detail? Do they see how the story relates to their daily lives?
How many ordinary Americans do you personally know who fully understand the savings and loan scandal? How many do you know who understand Iran-contra in depth including its meaning and significance? . . .
. . . Everybody expects certain politicians to flack for corporate contributors, but the public expects mainstream news reporters to be democracy’s watchdogs . . . Mainstream news organizations perpetuate the civic-minded-journalist myth. When challenged, mainstream journalists are often defensive and admit no wrongdoing. The rare times mainstream news folk self-criticize they still don’t get to the heart of the matter. For example, a recent study by the American Society of Newspaper Editors (ASNE) shows readers are concerned about newspapers’ spelling or grammatical mistakes and about factual errors, accuracy, bias, spin, and special breaks for powerful people or organizations. Edward Seaton, president of ASNE, says he wants to “rein in the pundits” and reconnect with readers.
How can news organizations connect with readers when corporate moguls who own the media often stand between reporters and readers? In a July, 1986, Cosmopolitan interview, media mogul Rupert Murdoch was asked to what extent he controls his newspapers’ editorial position. Murdoch, who described himself as a “radical conservative” said: “Considerably. The buck stops on my desk. My editors have input, but I make final decisions.” If Murdoch at times acts as a defensive back, blocking his subordinates’ efforts to pass to the public any version of the news that hurts his financial interests, we need a whole new kind of journalistic ball game.
Concentrated corporate ownership affects the quality of journalism. The people-friendly press has been replaced by corporate-friendly conglomerates. Family owned newspapers—papers that once took up for interests of average Americans—have virtually disappeared due to a declining marketplace. The corporate-friendly press puts profit ahead of public service. Corporate owners don’t spring for costly investigative reporters—especially not ones who make waves with business advertisers or very powerful public figures.
Here is the heart of the matter: “News” washed clean of the real corruption in society—in other words, news that omits misdeeds of those wealthy and powerful public figures with the most clout—is anemic disinformation. The public can’t connect with it because whitewashed news is nothing we can use. It doesn’t link with our daily lives.
Corporate-friendly (as opposed to people-friendly) media do more than limit ideas. They often advocate or emphasize only ideas that benefit corporate owners. Media moguls like Rupert Murdoch have an obvious economic stake in a certain political agenda: fewer taxes on the wealthy; fewer regulations of business and so forth. Media giant TCI’s John Malone speculated Murdoch would likely be glad to keep Fox News Channel on the air even if the network didn’t make a profit—for political leverage alone. If networks are used for political leverage by media owners whose economic interests clash with the interests of average taxpayers or labor groups, the public needs to seek alternative sources of information.
Media decision-makers often deny they are controlled by corporate media owners. But subordinates no doubt anticipate how far they can push the envelope and then censor themselves. Network news directors rarely pound away at stories that seriously jeopardize wealthy and powerful villains—at least not those with the most wealth and clout (meaning the ones who can do the most damage.)
Journalists are sometimes fired or harassed for challenging the rich and powerful. Media critic Michael Parenti (Inventing Reality: The Politics of News Media) offers a number of examples, among them: Reporter Bill Collins was fired from the Winston-Salem Journal for “union activity and writing too much about labor.” An NBC reporter, Jon Alpert, was fired by NBC’s Michael Gartner when Alpert brought back Gulf War footage showing damage done to civilian areas by U.S. aerial attacks. New York Times columnist Sydney Schanberg’s column was canceled by publisher Sulzberger when Schanberg wrote too much about the greed of New York’s bankers and other moneyed interests.
Corruption involving society’s wealthiest and most powerful miscreants is the very kind of corruption that most affects our daily lives and is the kind that most needs to be corrected if the country is to improve. This is not a plea for scatter-gun scandal-mongering or random smear campaigns aimed at ruining wealthy public figures without just cause. However society’s most insidious corruption often originates among the wealthiest one-percent of Americans (whose total net worth is greater than the total net worth of the bottom ninety percent) and among the corporate media moguls who flack for them. If mainstream media won’t fully cover union grievances because it offends wealthy corporations, or won’t cover war-time abuses because it offends arms manufacturers, or ignore Wall Street’s greed because it offends bankers, then we need new sources of news media.
If news organizations want to convey news that matters, it’s not enough to offer occasional stories in piecemeal fashion on important issues. For the public to grasp the meaning and significance of news stories, the media must go beyond casually tossing out first one random piece of a puzzle and then another—sometimes publishing or airing one piece of the puzzle weeks after the first piece appears. When a meaningful, complete puzzle exists responsible media should present the whole picture to the public—all at once and often.
Some journalists claim it’s not their job to clarify meaning and significance for viewers or readers and that they have no obligation to put puzzles together in a truthful, public-advocating manner. However, media organizations do piece news stories together in ways that promote corporate interests . . .
Michael Parenti says the way news is framed is all-important. Framing involves “the way news is packaged, the amount of exposure, the placement (front page or back, lead story or last), the tone of presentation (sympathetic or slighting), the accompanying headlines and visual effects.” Propaganda is more effective when done with framing than with obvious coercion.
If the media cared more about public service than profit, what difference would it make to ordinary Americans? If we’d had truth telling mainstream media when the savings and loan crisis started or during Iran-contra, might ordinary people have banded together to help avert those blunders? Rep. Henry B. Gonzalez (D-TX) testified as early as 1982 before the House Rules Committee, warning of the pending S&L disaster. Gonzalez , who is now retired, is a rare breed of politician who worked on behalf of the public and not exclusively for corporate “clients.” Although his speeches appeared in the Congressional Record, and while thousands of political reporters knew of the coming S&L disaster, virtually no reporters covered the story. Gonzalez called a press conference in the spring of 1988 in a near panic about the coming crisis. The only press people who showed up were a few from the financial industry trade papers and some Texas reporters. (Bill Greider, Who Will Tell The People.)
The mainstream media never explained the S&L scandal to the public so that its details became common knowledge, nor did the media clarify Iran-contra. Tim Weiner writes in Blank Check, the book based on his Pulitzer Prize winning newspaper series on the Pentagon’s black budget: “No one ever stood trial for the true crimes of the Iran-contra conspiracy. No one ever will. The White House, the Justice Department and the CIA made sure of that.” Attorney General Richard Thornburgh and certain national security officials declared important facts regarding the case to be sensitive secrets. Those secrets—including key defining details—were sealed, allowing prominent Iran-contra figures to escape scrutiny and prosecution. Independent prosecutor Lawrence Walsh said the sealed material amounted to “fictional secrets.”
Nothing has been done to discourage another Iran-contra. Ronald Reagan and Oliver North escaped serious media scrutiny, and Congress hasn’t enacted a single preventive measure. Why didn’t the media (on the whole) do a better job reporting the S&L scandal and Iran-contra? Many reporters who knew about the savings and loan story were focused on relatively trivial matters, for example on lighter aspects of the 1988 presidential campaign.
Some news organizations caved to pressure to give only the military-intelligence version of Iran-contra according to former Newsweek reporter Robert Parry (Fooling America) However a key underlying reason those and other important news stories are neglected or covered in misleading ways is that, in general, mainstream media primarily serve interests of the wealthy and powerful—often at the expense of the rest of us.
Many politicians listen only to their wealthy corporate contributors and disregard the views of the rest of the electorate. Considering politicians’ indifference to public opinion, would it have mattered if the news media had reported the savings and loan scandal and Iran-contra in a way that made the details fully understood by most Americans? Yes, it likely would have made a difference. If the general public had known the implications of the pending S&L crisis or the reasons Iran-contra figures escaped scrutiny, people might have chosen to respond. At least, armed with information, the public would have stood a fighting chance to act on our own behalf.
If the news media had fully informed the public, more people might have bothered to vote in order to eliminate (vote against) politicians who participated in the S&L scandal and Iran-contra. People might have formed legitimate grassroots groups or joined existing organizations to work toward preventing similar events in the future. Public figures often complain that few Americans vote or participate in politics. More people would be inspired to vote and participate in public affairs if the mainstream media conveyed news fully and clearly, showing the public what is at stake. An informed electorate is an empowered electorate.
Robert W. McChesney, Associate Professor of Journalism at the University of Wisconsin, says that when Ben Bagdikian’s The Media Monopoly was first published in 1983, all U. S. mass media were controlled by around fifty corporations. Today approximately ten firms dominate all mass media. Various media owners are involved in joint ventures with their “competitors.”
Those joint ventures reduce real competition and create monopolistic tendencies. A virtual media monopoly obviously curbs the range and scope of ideas flowing from mainstream media to the American people. Yes, a few news organizations offer an occasional “people-friendly” expose of corporate misdeeds, and there are good journalists who tell the truth and do an excellent job. The public could seek them out.
Here’s the problem: When people believe we already have reliable mainstream media, they don’t seek supplemental news. Many Americans believe the myth of the noble tribune and think if a news story were important it would be mentioned often on network TV or reported daily on the front pages of their newspapers and in every issue of prominent news magazines. Most Americans don’t work to unearth key news stories (in other words, do their own investigative journalism) because they buy the myth that caring journalists will do that for them. Some people believe in the idea that all journalists are noble watchdogs the way they once believed in Santa. Americans must shake off the illusion that the mainstream media serve “the people.”
Ordinary Americans need truth telling, public-advocating mainstream media organizations with their finger on our pulse and corporate America’s chains off their backs. We are not likely to get them. We’ll have better luck strengthening the country’s alternative media—those publications not entirely controlled by corporate money and profit motive. A public sponsored all-news television network might be a good start (a sort of all-news PBS that thrives only on private and not corporate contributions.) Those people who trust the mainstream media won’t bother to seek news elsewhere. What the public needs most is to enlist educators and others to spread the word through society that the mainstream media can’t be trusted to provide all the news Americans need if we want to be well informed enough to keep democracy.
Michael Parenti quotes journalist John Swinton who attended a newspaper editors’ banquet in the early years of the twentieth century. Swinton responded to a toast to the free press this way: “There is no such thing in America as an independent press . . . You know it and I know it. There is not one of you who dares write his honest opinions, and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in print . . . We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping-jacks; they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities, and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes.” Swinton’s assessment is still accurate today when applied to corporate media.
It’s time the American people banish the myth that we have a free (enough) mainstream press and see most mainstream corporate media organizations for what they are. Unlike the proverbial Emperor, these media posers do wear clothes—short skirts, six-inch heels—but they wear no shame at all.

A 2nd common objection to these designs is that it is questionable whether such indeterminism might include any kind of worth to consideration over that which is currently present in a deterministic globe. Libertarianism keeps a principle of free will that calls for that the agent have the ability to take more than one feasible course of action under an offered collection of conditions. The problem of this argument for some compatibilists lies in the fact that it requires the impossibility that a person can have picked besides one has. For instance, if Jane is a compatibilist and she has actually just muffled the couch, then she is devoted to the case that she could have continued to be standing, if she had so wanted. However it complies with from the repercussion argument that, if Jane had remained standing, she would have either produced an opposition, breached the laws of nature or transformed the past.

If You Don'T Wish To Utilize A Lawyer
Therefore, compatibilists are devoted to the presence of "extraordinary capacities", according to Ginet and also van Inwagen. David Lewis recommends that compatibilists are just committed to the capacity to do something otherwise if different conditions had in fact acquired in the past. On one hand, humans have a solid feeling of liberty, which leads us to think that we have free choice.
Carson verifies that God has the ability to experience, however argues that if he does so "it is due to the fact that he chooses to experience". God's eternity might be viewed as an element of his infinity, talked about below. , where it claims that God "is not offered by human hands, as if he needed anything".
A variety of event-causal accounts of free will have been created, referenced below as deliberative indeterminism, centred accounts, as well as efforts of will theory. The first 2 accounts do not need free will to be a basic constituent of the universe. Regular randomness is attracted as supplying the "breathing space" that libertarians think needed. An initial common argument to event-causal accounts is that the indeterminism might be harmful and also can therefore lessen control by the representative rather than give it.
What makes Will invalid?
If the court finds that fraud or undue influence were involved in the creation of your will, it will be deemed invalid. Common situations could include: A family member getting the testator to sign a will by pretending it is just a general legal document that needs a signature.
Christian beliefs regarding the origins of enduring worldwide and also exactly how to respond to this trouble differ. However enjoyment has deeper definition and also considerable ramifications for humankind's connection with other pets. Enjoyment adds inherent worth to life-- that is, value to the person that feels it regardless of any perceived worth to any person else.
Sign Your Will Before Witnesses.
What is better a will or a trust?
Unlike a will, a living trust passes property outside of probate court. There are no court or attorney fees after the trust is established. Your property can be passed immediately and directly to your named beneficiaries. Trusts tend to be more expensive than wills to create and maintain.
This argument entails that free choice itself is unreasonable, however not that it is incompatible with determinism. https://colnbrook.trusted-willwriting.co.uk/ calls his own view "pessimism" yet it can be categorized as difficult incompatibilism. Deliberative indeterminism insists that the indeterminism is restricted to an earlier phase in the decision procedure. This is planned to supply an indeterminate collection of possibilities to choose from, while not risking the intro of good luck.
The various other advantage of a mirror will is the ability to alter it.
That adaptability is one of the factors financial experts like Dave Ramsey suggest mirror wills.
If you as well as your partner usage either of these wills, your family will likely end up in Headache City.
With today's innovation, it's a whole lot simpler to produce a will online and conserve your household the feasible distress and also irritation.
If you get it terribly wrong, it can even mean that your will is void and also the law determines that your cash as well as property should most likely to.
Usually, mirror wills state that the enduring partner acquires the estate as well as looks after the kids, but other information may be various.
A joint will is a document developed by two individuals who leave their stuff to each various other.
That's why it is necessary to get with a monetary consultant so you can see to it all your bases are covered within the will.
This can be essential if you remarry or experience a separation.
In it, the pair agrees that when one partner dies, the other acquires the whole estate.
To Establish Who Will Take Care Of Your Minor Children
Many scholars see Alexander as the initial unambiguously 'libertarian' philosopher of the will. Wayne Grudem suggests that "if God likes all that is right as well as excellent, and also all that complies with his ethical personality, then it must not be surprising that he would certainly despise whatever that is opposed to his moral personality."
What do I need to think about when making a will?
Making a will and planning what to leave 1. Make a list of who you want to benefit from your estate. 2. Write down your assets and roughly what they're worth. 3. Think about how you want to split your money and property when making your will. 4. Check if Trusted-WillWriting official website 'll have to pay Inheritance Tax. 5. Think about protecting your beneficiaries.
Secret Files To Have Alongside Your Last Will As Well As Testament.
The love of God is particularly emphasised by followers of the social Trinitarian college of theology. Kevin Bidwell argues that this institution, which includes Jürgen Moltmann as well as Miroslav Volf, "purposely promotes self-giving love and liberty at the cost of Lordship and a whole selection of various other magnificent characteristics." Louis Berkhof states that "the consensus of opinion" through a lot of church background has actually been that God is the "Incomprehensible One". Berkhof, nevertheless, argues that, "in so far as God exposes Himself in His attributes, we also have some understanding of His Divine Being, though however our expertise is subject to human restrictions."
youtube
The option process is deterministic, although it might be based upon earlier choices established by the very same process. Deliberative indeterminism has been referenced by Daniel Dennett and John Martin Fischer. An obvious objection to such a view is that an agent can not be designated ownership over their choices to any higher degree than that of a compatibilist design. Event-causal accounts of incompatibilist free choice typically rely upon physicalist models of mind, yet they infer physical indeterminism, in which specific indeterministic events are claimed to be brought on by the agent.
When Should You Get Legal Advice To Compose Your Will?
Does a will override a living trust?
Key Takeaways. A will and a living trust are both part of a comprehensive estate plan, that sometimes are inconsistent with one another. When there are conflicts, the trust takes precedence. A will has no power to decide who receives a living trust's assets, such as cash, equities, bonds, real estate, and jewelry.
As well as it is anyways usual to typical Jewish, Christian, as well as Muslim theologies to keep that humans can not transgression in paradise. Nevertheless, standard Christian theology a minimum of preserves that human persons in heaven are totally free.
If we are dedicated to the Categorical Analysis, after that those preferring to defend compatibilism appear to be devoted to the sense of ability in 'has the ability to break a law of nature' along the lines of the strong thesis. Lewis agrees with van Inwagen that it is "incredible" to think humans have such a capability, yet preserves that compatibilists need only interest the capacity to damage a legislation of nature in the weak sense. Essentially, Lewis is suggesting that incompatibilists like van Inwagen have actually stopped working to adequately encourage the restrictiveness of theCategorical Analysis. A final significant number of this period was Alexander of Aphrodisias, one of the most important Peripatetic commentator on Aristotle. In his On Fate, Alexander greatly slams the placements of the Stoics.
In those instances, as well as numerous others, the matching regulation was able to properly explain the choices of individuals. This equation is able to make up all of the different means researchers have actually come up with for transforming the high qualities of the two selections. This consists of amount of food, high quality of food, delay to food, and much more. It is impossible for us to understand the sources of our selections and also desires.
What does a simple will cost?
The average cost of a simple will is about $300 to $1,000 in the US for 2020 according to multiple trusted sources. According to Nolo, “It's very common for a lawyer to charge a flat fee to write a will and other basic estate planning documents. The low end for a simple lawyer-drafted will is around $300.
What sort of freedom remains in sight below, and also just how does it relate to ordinary liberty? 2 good recent discussions of these questions are Pawl and Timpe and also Tamburro. An excellent discussion of these debates in tandem and tries to point to appropriate disanalogies between causal determinism as well as foolproof foreknowledge might be located in the introduction to Fischer. However, effective treatment worldwide does not call for that our actions be causally unknown, so the 'liberty is logically presupposed' disagreement can not be introduced for such an understanding of freedom.
How do you prepare a trust for a will?
Here are five things you should do before writing a living trust: 1. Make a List of All Your Assets. Be sure to include make a list of your assets that includes everything you own. 2. Find the Paperwork for Your Assets. 3. Choose Beneficiaries. 4. Choose a Successor Trustee. 5. Choose a Guardian for Your Minor Children.

He is currently a PhD prospect at West Virginia University examining choice and timing of non-human animals. In the world of sporting activities, the proportion of 2- vs 3-point shots attempted by college as well as NBA basketball gamers matches the success rates of those shots. Furthermore, college football coaches call for rushing as well as passing plays according to the average yards obtained by those phone calls.
This is because to be responsible in some circumstance S, one need to have been responsible for the means one was at S − 1. To be in charge of the means one went to S − 1, one should have been accountable for the way one was at S − 2, and so on. Eventually in the chain, there have to have been an act of source of a brand-new causal chain.
The term initial wrong describes the belief that transgression went into the globe when the very first human beings, Adam and Eve, consumed the forbidden fruit in the Yard of Eden. God figured out that the fruit had actually been consumed and also told Adam and also Eve that they would certainly currently experience as a result of this wrong. Some Christians now believe that all people are birthed with this original wrong. According to this idea, all humans are born with a tendency towards evil as well as the capacity to cause suffering. Wickedness as well as suffering can often make individuals question their religious beliefs.
These concerns precede the very early Greek stoics, as well as some contemporary philosophers lament the absence of progression over all these centuries. Free will is the capacity to pick between different possible strategies unobstructed. If it is true that God keeps our ability to be certain of his existence for the sake of our freedom, after that it is all-natural in conclusion that people will do not have freedom in heaven.
Physical determinism, under the presumption of physicalism, indicates there is just one possible future and also is consequently not suitable with libertarian free will. Some liberal descriptions involve conjuring up panpsychism, the theory that a quality of mind is connected with all bits, as well as infuses the entire universe, in both stimulate and also inanimate entities. Other methods do not require free choice to be a fundamental constituent of deep space; normal randomness is attracted as providing the "breathing space" thought to be needed by libertarians.
Satisfaction seekers have wants, needs, wishes, and lives worth living. Some scientists, such as the American neuroscientists Jeffrey Burgdorf as well as Jaak Panksepp, think that lifeforms might experience certain feelings more extremely than humans do. For instance, when Cabanac had individuals dip their hand in a container of cold water, they reported the experience as positive if they were really feeling hot as well as unpleasant if they were really feeling chilly. Pets too show alliesthesia, which additionally puts on tastes. In making forecasts and judgments under uncertainty, individuals do not appear to adhere to the calculus of opportunity or the analytical theory of forecast.

On the other hand, an intuitive feeling of free will can be misinterpreted. making will underlying inquiries are whether we have control over our activities, and if so, what sort of control, as well as to what extent.

All of these artifacts reveal that Asherah was a powerful fertility siren. Timpe, Kevin Free Choice in Feiser, J and also Dowden, B (Eds.) 'Internet Encyclopedia of Viewpoint'. In non-physical concepts of free will, agents are thought to have power to interfere in the physical world, a sight referred to as agent causation. Supporters of agent causation include George Berkeley, Thomas Reid, and also Roderick Chisholm. Descriptions of libertarianism that do not include dispensing with physicalism need physical indeterminism, such as probabilistic subatomic bit behavior-- a concept unknown to most of the early writers on free choice.
Instead, incompatibilists usually offer among the adhering to two bases for sensible idea in flexibility. A few of these stem from the physical sciences as well as others from neuroscience as well as psychology. Many philosophers supposing regarding free choice take themselves to be trying to examine a near-universal power of mature humans. But as we've kept in mind over, there have been free choice skeptics in both ancient as well as modern times. ( Israel 2001 highlights a variety of such doubters in the early modern period.) In this area, we sum up the primary lines of debate both for and also versus the truth of human flexibility of will.
What To Expect From Your Lawyer
This is often related to God's self-existence as well as his self-sufficiency. Asherah as a tree icon was even stated to have been "chopped down as well as burned outside the Holy place in acts of specific leaders that were trying to 'cleanse' the cult, and concentrate on the praise of a solitary man god, Yahweh," he included. Stavrakopoulou bases her theory on ancient messages, amulets as well as porcelain figurines discovered largely in the ancient Canaanite coastal city called Ugarit, now contemporary Syria.

gOD okay im doing a rant about work bc i dont know where else to put it and i need to Screm™
(Its v long srry)
For people who are new, I work in a hospital, i work in an ER, and im a secretary. All i do is answer calls, transfer calls to doctors and nurses, and set up transportation for patients when theyre deemed ready to go upstairs (by the doctor and the nurse) after the admitting department has provided a bed for the patient.
I cannot stress that last bit enough; i set up transportation AFTER all steps have been checked off. I am the LAST person in a chain of events that allows a patient to get upstairs. As a secretary I have no actual power; i am physically unable to interact with any part of this process except for the one assigned to me.
SO
Around 12:20, i get a call from a man asking for a status update on their father. Elderly man whos been waiting for a bed for about 2 hours now. Our ER is insanely crowded compared to most hospitals and today our census was around 90-100 (which is average for us). Having a long wait time is to be expected, especially since the floors patients get admitted to are equally booked and crowded.
So i tell the man the typical response i give to people inquiring about relatives waiting to go upstairs, “the patient is going to be staying overnight but there is currently no bed assigned.”
“so do you know when he’ll be going upstairs??”
“No, from my screen it says that they are still currently waiting for the bed to become available on the floor. So until the space is freed up somehow, they will have to stay in the Emergency Room.”
Now this is usually when they say “can i speak to the nurse taking care of so n so; i just want to make sure theyre okay” or “oh thats okay, i just wanted to make sure they were on the board”. But no, this dude couldnt be okay with either of those choices.
“So you cant tell me when theyre going upstairs?”
“No, I cant. Were not the ones who distribute the beds. Thats Admittings responsibility.” (I literally just gave him is answer 30 seconds ago)
“So who can I talk to to get information on my dad?”
“…do you…do you mean his current status? Because then I can transfer you to his nurse-”
“No i mean information on his bed.”
“Admitting.”
“Can u transfer me there?”
So I transfer him. Poof, gone, goodbye, hope he gets his answers.
IMMEDIATELY, he calls back. “Is this the emergency room?”
“Yes, how can i help you?”
*repeats the entire thing again*
“Sir, i CANT help, admitting is the only department that can give you any answers. If theyre transferring you back to me, its because they cannot help you.”
“But there has to be some kind of waiting list. If hes going upstairs, who determines who gets a bed upstairs first?”
So like, the problem is that he 1) does not work here and 2) does not understand what the actual issue is. Because his dad is most certainly next in line. The problem is that the floors are so filled to the brim with sick patients that theres No Space For Him. Its not us trying to withhold beds, its us having more sick patients than we can handle.
And its even more complicated than that: some people are special needs and require an enclosed room. Some people are in isolation, some people are contagious, some people are a fall risk, some people need security, some people need 24/7 surveillance. Because the floors are so packed, we have Hallway Beds which is basically just the ER but with less patients so its calmer and quieter. Some people dont qualify for the hallway placements or ‘Overflow Beds’ because of the aforementioned needs.
Basically, his dad needed a bed on a floor that was at max capacity and unless there were some extreme last minute changes, there wouldnt be any space.
So i tell him “We CANT speed up the process any faster, we have to wait for people to leave the floor and make space for him.” Its like a car on the curb blocked in by two other cars. Yeah, you want the space that car is in, but until those other two cars are dealt with, youre just gonna have to sit there.
He asks if he could get transferred again so I transferred him.
They IMMEDIATELY transfer him back. So i transfer him again. This time, before they transfer him back to me, they tell us to transfer him to our Charge Nurse. So we do that. And for 5 minutes, hes on the phone w our Charge before she tells us to transfer him back to admitting. So we transfer him AGAIN.
and he calls us !! Either they hung up on him or they ignored the call but he calls back asking for the Charge Nurse. And when she refuses to pick up, he asks for admitting.
This went on for over a fucking hour. An hour of ONE fucking ignorant entitled selfish piece of shit calling and harrassing us to page “The Charge Nurse” “Admitting” “The nurse taking care of my dad” “The DOCTOR taking care of my dad”.
And every single time he called it was for one of these people. And the problem was that we all talked to him!! All of us!! I talked to him! My coworkers did! The charge, admitting, the nurse, the doctor !! They all answered and he still kept calling. And it was getting to a point where we started ignoring his number because he was stopping us from answering OTHER calls.
And he would call from other numbers because we werent answering his call.
Just
AN HOUR AND A HALF of nonstop calling for what ?? To expedite your dad upstairs?? To skip everyone else whos been waiting ahead of him? Why do u think your dad deserves special treatment??
No one understands how our paging system works; i just hold the call and it gets set to 1 of 19 speeddial numbers. And i page that specific speeddial number overhead in the loudspeaker. I cannot physically force anyone to pick up that number; if they hear it and choose to ignore it, i can never MAKE them answer it.
At around 1:30, i notice that his dad has received a bed. Which is good! So when he calls, im still fucking irritated but i tell him “is this about your dad? Bc he now has a bed and-”
“Oh I already know that, i already talked to the charge nurse and admitting and made that happen”
What?
“You made that happen?”
“Yes, im just trying to talk to the doctor for something else”
So I transfer him to the doctor and stare at my coworker bewildered bc…this dude is full of shit lmao Theres no way HE did it, this is not any random fast food joint where you can complain to the manager and get shit done your way. Everything is done in order, no amount of yelling or grovelling is gonna make anything go faster. Because its not that we dont FEEL like admitting people, its that we as an entire unit cannot FIT that many people.
So either 1) the patient left. Either AMA (against medical advice) or discharged. And discharge is more likely because if the patient that left was an elderly or bedconfined patient, then an ambulance couldve picked them up to bring them back to a nursing home or something similar
2) the patient in the room was downgraded to a hallway bed WHILE they were on the floor. Which is believable but AWFUL. Hallway beds are just stretchers in the hall, and you can get an Actual room when one opens up: all it does is allow you to be in a floor with a max of 30 people instead of a floor of up to 150+ people. So to get bumped down is terrible
Or 3) someone who had a hallway bed and was waiting for a regular bed got bumped and skipped in favor of this random dudes dad. Which is EQUALLY bad
But also, I really didnt know what this dude wanted. Because now that hes got the bed i would assume thats finished and he could just go to sleep or something. Once the bed is assigned and the last charting is complete, getting them upstairs is SUPER quick compared to everything else. About 20 mins max to pick up the patient and travel across the hospital to get them upstairs.
But hes apparently been bugging the doctors to complete their charts, harrassing the nurses to do the same; the entire 20 or so minutes i was ignoring him was to essentially get them to finish the chart. But like…??? They have other patients?? And they had to stop what they were doing to answer the calls. And even they stopped responding because they knew that if they heard their name over the loudspeaker, it was because of this dude.
So finally, at like 1:50, I pick up the line. And hes asking for the doctor. And i ask him WHY is he calling the doctor, because theyre not gonna pick up for him, and all i can do is page overhead.
And in the most fake, cali girl kind of voice (bc he DID have a cali girl voice only now it was clearly fake chill) “well, i WAS trying to get the doctor to pick up the phone but maybe you can help me instead.”
“Oh, I’ll definitely try my best.”
“So is there anyway I can get my dad upstairs a bit faster?”
And im like u fucking idiot, you fucking dick wasting all this time, all MY TIME “See you called at 1:30”
“Yes.”
“And i asked, i specifically asked 'was this about your dad? Because he has a bed right now’ and you dismissed me because you felt that the doctor could give you answers, not realizing that if you had just told me 'yes, its about my dad’ i wouldve told you that everything was set up and that we were waiting for transportation to bring them upstairs.”
“Well yes but-”
“So because you thought you were cutting out the middle man, you made me page these nurses and doctors overhead to get NOTHING done. When I couldve just answered you from the getgo.”
And im so irritated and HEATED bc this dude called for 30 minutes just to make his dad skip ahead of everyone else and there was NO way i was letting that happen.
“So is he just waiting for transportation to go upstairs?”
“Yes.”
“Is there anyway I can do that myself?”
“??? No?? Only the transporter can bring them upstairs.”
“Why?”
“???????because its their job????????? Thats what they do???? Bring patients from the ER to the floor.”
“So you mean to tell me that I have to wait? Wait like I had to wait for admitting to get off their asses and get my dad a bed?”
“Thats generally what happens when theres a line of people; you go in order”
So i tell him, “Do you work here? Because unless you are a transporter you are physically unable to bring him upstairs” and hes like “well i should be because no one else in this hospital is doing their job. How is it I managed to get my dad a bed in just three minutes?? How is it that if hes being transported from one department to another, why cant I just wheel him up in a wheelchair.” Im answering his stupid questions as simply as possible but hes just refusing to listen. Like why we need to have transporters transport patients (bc the ID is the only thing that unlocks the door, bc the transporters are the only ones with access to the whole building) or like why its going to take longer because we have limited transporters tonight.
And like..i need to leave…bc i just have no tolerance for people anymore. I cant do it, i get so livid, i wanted to break my phone and smash it into the wall. If this fucker was out on the block i wouldve been throwing fists; he WOULD be catching these fucking hands.
I cant remember word for word what he was saying because it was just him yelling and cursing at me about how this entire building is incompetent, how we told him to wait until his dad got a bed and if he had listened, if he hadnt INTERVENED, he would STILL be waiting, that if he was working there things would be going alot more smoother, shit would be getting done, how theres no reason the place should be understaffed because its the holiday weekend and we should be prepared for this (not realizing that the department literally understaffs us BECAUSE its the holiday weekend and the census is always lower than usual)
Just him assuming no one was doing their job, then complaining for almost TWO HOURS and then assuming that his complaining worked when in reality it was just completely coincidental; that if he really 'got a bed in three minutes’ i wouldve seen a bed appear at 12:40, not 1:30.
And they taking it out on the transporters as if they WANT to be understaffed and stuck transporting patients to 7 different locations across the entire building; patients who need to go to the floors, to sono, to CT, to MRI, and then required to be taken back. To be so understaffed that people delegated to cleaning have to stop and pitch in once in a while to help their coworkers. And he had the NERVE to try and skip past people who were patiently waiting, who were waiting longer than his dad had been waiting.
He asked to speak to the “Head of transportation ” and i wanted to laugh so hard, i could not stop myself from mocking him “oh the HEAD of transportation! Let me transfer you.” Straight to the fucking operator lmao kiss my ass have fun trying to find that person at exactly 2:03am on a monday morning and a HOLIDAY no less
The dad eventually went upstairs. He waited like everyone else in this ER and from this point on, if he wants to cause a scene, im sending the son Straight to the floor his dad is sleeping on so he can harass them because i am done
#long post#SUPER LONG POST#personal#i rlly want to Die why are people so entitled and nasty#anyway whats up w yall lmao#did u know tumblr added in a text limit on mobile???#or at the very least#they made the limit shorter#bc i wrote a fic on mobile and was able to fit it here#but this entire rant doublespaced (by mistake) couldnt fit#so strange

I thought I'd try and explain how the pattern in my "Decomposition" paintings came to be - with a diagram!
It might appear that the pattern is completely random, or if you're generous you might have thought there was a clever arty precision behind every placement (thanks)! The truth is somewhere in between - the randomness is based on probability, and lies within a specific stucture.
All of my recent work is structured around a grid, and in this case each square contains one quarter of a circle (and there are two layers to the pattern so in the complete version there are two arcs in every square). I divided the grid into columns, and each column was assigned a probability for the pattern pieces in each square to be removed from the design. I then used an online random number generator to determine which pattern pieces should be deleted - generating two numbers for every square of the grid (for the two layers of the pattern).
In the case of the green painting pictured the numbers were generated from 1 to 7 (corresponding to the number of columns). As shown in the diagram, the left-most two columns of the grid had a probability of 0/7 for a piece to be deleted - so those two columns are complete with no deletions. The third and fourth columns have a probability of 1/7 for each piece to be deleted, so if the random number generator rolls a 1 for a pattern piece, it is deleted. For the next pair of columns a piece is removed if a 1 or a 2 is rolled, then a 1, 2 or 3 for the next columns and so on, until the right-most column where any number rolled will result in a piece being deleted, so the whole of those two columns are blank.
This gives the effect of the pattern steadily fading out. In the green painting it goes from left to right; in the red one it fades from the outer edge into the centre; and in the yellow painting it fades from the centre out to the top and bottom edges.
Short version: sort of random, sort of not!

Six Guitars and Two Moons
Using your own hand, find the number of frets that can you reached without cramping up.
Burst onto the world wide web and find a random number generator.
Constrict the range of the number generator to match the number of frets that you can reach from one position near the headstock of the guitar.
Generated numbers correspond to the fret number of each string of the guitar—starting with the low E.
During each tracking of guitar, each string of the guitar must be played at least once.
Microphone placement is initially determined by measuring the distance of the space of performance. That measured number (in feet) is then recorded in pen or pencil and is loaded into the number generator. Before tracking generate a number that corresponds to the number of feet the microphone will be from the guitar. Each guitar will have a specific distance from the microphone.
During the tracking process, guitar is tinkered with and explored nakedly
This is a bit like Christmas carolling.
This piece was influenced by the rudimentary guitar playing of my youth. When I was learning to play guitar, I would focus for hours on a single chord, tensing the muscles in my fingers, fearing that my fingers would slip out of position and leave me completely lost. More often than not, I would sit staring at a graph that contained diagrams representing the fingerings of simple chord structures. There was always a lag between my understanding of where my fingers were supposed to be and the exercise of actually getting my fingers situated properly. In hindsight, I now realize that having such a pointed focus on the structural stability of a chord created an imbalance between the attentiveness of the fretting hand and the strumming hand, which resulted in a freeness granted to the strumming hand that is (now) oftentimes not present. We untether the strings and with our hands allow unexpected tonalities to arise we separate from the burden of looking forward to change hand positions on the fretboard. In this piece I strive to recreate the freedom that was present when I did not have any other means of playing the instrument. Through the randomness of the generated chords, the player will more likely than not feel uncomfortable, forcing the player back into a mode sensuously engaging with the strings.
I chose to engage primarily with John Cage’s chance operations as they tend to have a very youthful charm to them, an enchanting dollop of the unknowable. My budding relationship with the guitar was similarly mystic in the beginning. The intuition that develops as we age with an instrument emerges from a primordial bumping and wading against the sonically unexpected. The chord structure like an iceberg in frigid waters upon which we wobble trying to keep our footing.
