oh ny god i feel sick that was wxs kaito and mikus first time being separated in their ~TEN years of knowing each other. how do you think kaito felt after having miku in his hands, barely missing but was still able to grab on

only to have her pulled out of his grasp and taken to god knows where. how do you think he felt after failing to save her, his best friend and partner for years, just because of something they couldnt control.

how do you think he felt after having something missing. his other half, his friend for years and years, his only other person for those years calling out for tsukasa, only to have ripped away forcibly by an unknown force.

how do you think he felt after coming back to the rest of the virtual singers empty handed, failing to take in his role of a responsible caretaker who looked after everyone

ough….. i heart it

honestly i had only listened to firedance and smile*symphony before watching to avoid spoiling most of the songs for myself, but i almost cried once

the gunjou sanka cover… the journey and NEO references, the DISAPPEARANCE OF HATSUNE MIKU i died

honestly the movie songs hit so so much harder knowing the context and lyric translations behind them because yeah firedance is a fire song but it’s also about combatting burnout and not giving up

also the negativity demon and positivity angel lyrics definitely made me like smile*symphony more im not lying.

the movie was also really really pretty in the animation, there were so many fucking details, from the cd cases in the store (i clocked stardust medley lmao) to what was playing (especially when ichika was showing miku a few songs-pretty sure one of them being ghost night tokyo? correct me if im wrong) aLSO ALSO MY FAVORITE ANIMATION DETAIL was when all the groups were in broken miku’s sekai and their outlines changed to their unit colors (wxs and mmj had their colors muddled for visibility but it’s okay) and the kinda glitchy silhouettes when focusing on one unit because they had touched the fragments from their own sekais and couldn’t see each other (did wish for more cross-unit interaction but it can’t be helped)?!?!!? i genuinely love all the thought and care put into even the tiniest bits of animation

every single character seeing broken miku interaction got me (toya’s bread… tsukasa scream… mafuyu stare…)

the one scene where it’s vbs first meeting broken miku and Ken comes out and they’re just all hiding toya’s phone looking like the end of a 3dmv

went there with a few irls (@/kiwimeep i know you’re there) and we definitely didn’t look at eachother when our favs were onscreen because i honestly always was smiling whenever there was a wondershow scene (send the pitchforks) and almost laughed multiple times at tsukasa dialogue (he yelled at LEAST 3 times during the movie and got fucking decimated by robonene in that one scene where the units were sent back to the real world through the window’s in broken miku’s sekai)

also pretty sure this takes place before 3rd anni because it’s mostly old designs (but like mainly mmj and n25 because the other units had like unique outfits for most of the film?) also tsukasa jetpack wing things in the beginning and the miku on robonene spin where she ends up swaying after finishing it…

finally after miku had like gotten her message out and the sekai was restored and everyone went to see her i kinda thought she was dying because she was saying like “i suppose this is our goodbye” and it kept cutting to the skylight so i might’ve been misreading some shit…

tldr i FUCKING love the pjsk movie because you can clearly see all the effort and love put into it

Okay I’m definitely grasping at straws here, but did anyone else read Voiceless Miku as autistic?

Like her whole thing is that she wants to communicate and help people, but because of circumstances out of her control she’s usually ignored and seen as a nuisance/hindrance. The scene just before her disappearance in the windows Sekai was very reminiscent of a meltdown—the overlapping voices pushing her over the edge until she can’t take it anymore.

idk. It definitely wasn’t the intention of ColoPale, but as an autistic person I felt really seen by this stupid little rhythm game movie.

Wait, does this mean that Movie Miku's unit are technically all the people before their SEKAIs?

When she dies, she pulled all the other Miku's with her as well. Is it because there were too many deaths of passion instead of people who strive for it?

Does that technically make all the units also under Movie Miku? But once they find their strongest true feelings, they branch into their own sekai with their own Miku?

Movie Miku doesn't seem aware of other Mikus. Like, she knows they exist but it seemed like she's meeting them for the first time.

Is she a guide to people's SEKAIs? There to nurture people's dreams and passion until it's time for them to branch into their own world?

That. Genuinely seems lonely. Because if this is true, she never really has her own people, her own unit. She's only there to guide them to theirs

I just saw the Miku movie; it was everything I could've hoped for! Literally got chills when they started singing Fire Dance! Also props to Gkids for how they translated Mafuyu's lines like the world's most angsty teen

Spoilers for COLORFUL STAGE! The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing!!

it has been two days since i watched the movie, but i am still sobbing over Wonderland! Kaito’s expression when he loses Miku.

IT BROKE MY HEART. LIKE HOLY SHIT. and he was so close to saving her!! (of course, they couldn’t have known that it wasn’t going to stop until it got her, but that doesn’t mean the WxS Vocaloid crew weren’t ready to try.)

not to mention, how we get to see Wonderland!Miku as she realizes that she’s been caught. it’s genuinely so well-done. like, i really love this scene. it did such a good job with driving home all the hope, fear, and heartbreak that each SEKAI shared in that moment. it’s genuinely so fucking good and i haven’t stopped thinking about it.

and bruh,,, when the WxS are talking to the Wonderland Vocaloids,,, and fucking Kaito looks so guilty and distraught bc he feels like he failed Miku. he thought he’d lost her forever, and he was taking the blame,,, like, holy shit. my poor guy had such survivor’s guilt, it’s so heartbreaking.

AND THE WAY I COULD’VE SOBBED WHEN HE SEES HER AGAIN. aAAAAAUGHHH. HE WAS SO RELIEVED. HIS FRIEND!!! UGH, I COULD’VE BAWLED.

anyway, i’m struggling to find where anyone else bawled over this moment. mostly, i just want to know if anyone else can’t stop thinking about the WxS Vocaloids post-movie. i know they’re a pretty happy-go-lucky crew, but i can only imagine that they’d still be pretty shaken about losing Miku — especially Kaito, who even after everything is fixed, still has some remaining guilt.

likely, he knows that there was no avoiding what happened, but it probably won’t stop him and the rest of the WxS crew from being kinda skittish for a while. and i’d imagine that most of the groups from the other SEKAIs might share that vibe. like, some of them might be a little wary to let Miku out of their sight. the WxS Rin and Len are probably clingier than normal. i’d love to think that, however accepting of their fate they are, that even the Nightcord crew can’t help taking an extra glance to see if their Miku’s still there.

there’s so much angst potential!!!

i haven’t found a single fic about it yet, but i’m really hoping that there might be some eventually. and if anyone has any recs, please let me know!! i have such a craving for post-movie content of any kind😭😭
