“You got away from that asshole?” That’s what you meant to say, right Hart? Because of him, once again, Earl’s down to just his truck. Or– he was. “Babe, you’re still with me, right?”

His feet shifted back a step or two, until he bumped into the table of CDs. His free hand rested nervously on the top of his arm.

“I, uh--” Eyes flickered anywhere but Earl, “...I don’t think--I mean... They kind of had a point, Earl... You really scared me before...” Ohhh, he didn’t want to be dealing with this right now.

Living in the city for long enough, you quickly learn a few things. One, where the best places to hide were if you were homeless. Two, who to talk to if you need to locate someone quick. Forget Piper’s army of rat tails, humans may not work as quick but they were easier to describe someone to and get an accurate find back. 

Which is how, after a quick clothing change and stock up, James was able to locate exactly where two teens, one dark one ginger, and a truck were last seen. Going sky-bound made it easier, too. There, right in the alley. Easy. Back in his day kids at least made an effort to stay hidden. 

Now there were two ways to do this. Dramatic or Officer Jesse. Or, well. Both? Both seemed good. 

Yo-yo on his finger but tucked up a sleeve, water gun in hand, James dropped from the sky with enough flair to make the Batman jealous. Right onto the roof of the kid’s truck, hard enough to dent. “Hello naughty children.” The blonde squinted through his mask, grin growing into the outright creepy territory. 

His focus was entirely on Earl, hands still at his sides, weapons in wait as he chuckled. “Hartley, leave. I need to talk to Mr. Povich here and I’d hate for you to get in the way.” Behind the lenses, his eyes shifted to look over. Just a flicker, and then right back on Earl. “Your music won’t work so don’t bother. If you want to stick around, go ahead! All I have to do is ask this little boy here why he decided to smack around a charity worker.”
