Gonna do us all a favor and only address the "first meeting" though. I have an honest-to-God PitayaFire relationship bible that I put together over the course of a few years and it's embarrassing as hell and nobody needs to hear about it all right away, we'll be here for two weeks otherwise

It is canon that they met when Fire Spirit was mortal and dying. How he got to where he was, what circumstances led to that moment, who he used to be before that day, we do not know currently and likely never will (already made up a backstory for that though, so it's ok). Pitaya Dragon appeared to him out of morbid curiosity. Fire Spirit begged for his life, offering him whatever he wanted in exchange. Pitaya is intrigued and impressed with his persistence. The deal is struck. Fire Spirit ascends to godhood and escapes death... but for what price, exactly?

With this in mind, let's go down the route I've paved:

Pitaya Dragon is deeply, genuinely impressed with this little mortal. Trapped in an eternal flame, no way out, no salvation, no one to care if he lives or dies... yet he keeps fighting. He's still here, trying to delay the inevitable. He has nothing. No power. No weapons. He's just a guy. All he's got is his willpower, his fighting spirit, and it's actually keeping him alive- long enough for help to actually stumble across him. That takes guts. Guts Pitaya has never seen before, especially not in any mortals.

What takes even more guts is being forward and offering Pitaya something in exchange for his help. No one has ever done this before (this is canon). It is Pitaya who grants people wishes, not the other way around. This mortal who's burning away, crumbling to dust as they speak, musters the courage to not only ask for his help, but to reverse their roles and offer to grant Pitaya a wish if he does? That's bold. That's daring. Of course Pitaya will say yes, why wouldn't he? It's an offer neither of them can really refuse.

And Pitaya eggs him on, because of course he does. He's gotta see what else this mortal can do. "Take a sip of this lava juice and I'll grant you the red bead." He fucking does it, he just drinks straight lava without even flinching. HELL YEAH. "Drink the whole cup and I'll grant you a wish!" HE DOES IT. NO FUCKING WAY. THIS IS THE BEST. Pitaya is CRAZY impressed. OF COURSE he'll save this guy, he's got to. He needs to see what he'll choose to do with the rest of his life afterwards. If he's this strong-willed now, when he's about to die, what will he be capable of when he's at his peak?

Meanwhile, Fire Spirit... is literally dying. At least the agony stopped when the fire burned his nerves away. But... he's dying. He's clinging to a thread that's about to snap. He senses a presence, an aura of overwhelming power, descend upon him, and a deep, booming, reptilian voice address him. He realizes who it is, and begs for help. For divine intervention. And he knows what this person is like already. He knows the legends. He recalls how his tribe and others speak of them, worship them. The Red Dragon is not a "something for nothing" type. He's got to give him something back... but what's the equivalent exchange here? What does he have to offer?

He says he'll give the dragon whatever he wants. But really, underneath that, the truth is... he's offering the dragon himself. All Fire Spirit has to give is Fire Spirit. That's it, really. No power, no prestige, no weapons, no treasure... just him. His will. His sincerity. His soul. But will the dragon take them? Would the dragon accept something like that?

He's not afraid when he meets the dragon. He's not afraid when he drinks the lava juice. Not even when it scorches his throat and boils him alive from the inside out. He's not afraid when he takes that bead, and he's overwhelmed with agony all over again as fire engulfs him a second time - but he's not falling apart anymore, he's being fixed; his ashes are being stitched back together into something new. Something better. He's not afraid, he can't be. Now's not the time for that. Now's the time to seize his moment. To save himself. To be bold, daring, persistent.

And the Red Dragon loves persistence.

And then, when FS is all better, PD shows him his humanoid/cookie form and FS thinks "OH NO HE'S HOT-"

I'll just leave it here lol. I think I've gone on long enough. I could rant about PitayaFire forever, honestly. They're my ride-or-die and you're all sleeping hard on them. Idk why. "Hurr durr alcoholic shield lady" NO. "Hurr durr green arrow man" NO. "Man who is rescued from certain death by a capricious deity for dubious reasons, who must now grapple with his newfound power and responsibility and identity, while also accidentally falling in love with the deity who saved him and struggling to come to terms with it and what it says about him as a person, fearing that it's some form of Stockholm Syndrome, that Pitaya doesn't care about him at all, that Pitaya just thinks he's a plaything they own, knowing that he is stuck with Pitaya for eternity regardless of it all and there is no going back on their deal outside of death/suicide, damn it Pitaya is just going to make fun of him if the truth ever comes out- BUT IT TURNS OUT HE DOESN'T, PITAYA LIKES HIM TOO, NOW THEY HAVE THIS PASSIONATE BUT COMPLICATED RELATIONSHIP THEY HAVE TO NAVIGATE, THEY'RE BOTH STUBBORN AND HATE TO BE VULNERABLE AND THEY STRUGGLE TO COMMUNICATE AND THEY ARGUE A LOT BUT THEY REALLY DO LOVE EACH OTHER AND THEY'RE GONNA MAKE IT WORK SOMEHOW, THEY HAVE TO, THEY'RE STUCK WITH EACH OTHER FOR ETERNITY AND THEY DON'T WANT ANYONE ELSE" Y E S. I could honestly go on for a REALLY long time about why I ship BurningCheese/GoldenSpice. But I'll try to distill/narrow down my thoughts the best I can so my answer isn't longer than the Bible

I adore the enemies to lovers trope and hero/villain pairings in general. I did long before Cookie Run and I will long afterwards

I like how they complement and contrast against each other, aesthetically + personality-wise + backstory-wise

I love how they interact with each other. I love how they talk and snipe at each other. Golden Cheese's frustrated yet unyielding confidence and wit VS Burning Spice's brash, raucous excitement is fun to see. (The back-and-forth they have during their fight in episode 6 is dangerously close to how I've written them in my fics, even before the episode came out. So technically, in a way, my fics have been canonized lol)

It's fun imagining them together in different ways. A one-sided crush/obsession on Burning Spice's part is fun in a dark way (my Yandere Spice). So is a mutual love and respect between them. Main canon for me is a slow burn romance and a slow redemption arc for Spice alongside it. I also have an AU where Golden corrupts and becomes a Beast herself, and they become an evil villain couple. I have another where Spice doesn't get better and Golden doesn't get worse, they just have the standard forbidden love affair that they hide from the world (the latter out of fear of judgement, the former just so no one can try to keep them apart). I've got a million story ideas with them. You can do all sorts of things with them imo. And I think it works because of how they bounce off of each other. Put them in different situations and see how their relationship changes/adjusts/adapts, see if love can exist and how

I like their size difference. Spice is significantly taller and wider than Golden and it's really funny to see lol

The way they and their relationship/dynamic parallel actual Egyptian and Indian mythology (the latter in particular) is absolutely unreal

They follow each other around in my kingdom almost 24/7. Literally every single time I log in they're next to each other or one is trailing behind the other while they walk somewhere. If they want to be together that badly, I'm not going to stop them

They are literally the cycle of life and death, they have the single most important connection of all the Beasts and Ancients, one simply cannot go on without the other for together they make up the foundation of the goddamn cosmos

It actually all started with me and someone irl joking about Burning Spice having a stalker crush when the very first trailer came out. Then I went "haha that could be a funny fic". Then I wrote it and went "wait this is an interesting idea". Then episode 5 came out and I went "wait wtf does he actually want her??? He's acting like he does in my fic!!!" Then I wrote more and got even more attached to the one-sided attraction dynamic. Then I started imagining them in an actual, normal relationship and how that might pan out. Then I started writing stuff for/about that and I got extremely attached to that. Now they have a fully fleshed out relationship and they're married and have two kids, and I have a billion side stories and AUs, and any other ship involving either of them viscerally repulses me. I unironically memed too close to the sun and immediately fell straight down into BurningCheese hell (but it's ok, I like it here and I don't plan on leaving ever)

Honestly I don’t understand the hate behind “toxic” ships in fiction, I personally couldn’t care less what people ship as long as it’s entirely fictional and they aren’t condoning the actions of the characters. Sure I’ll still block someone if their ships make me uncomfortable, but I have a “ship and let ship” type of view on these things.

Exactly. I'm just SO tired and so done with this shit. The Cookie Run fandom has always been shit to some degree, since CROB first came out, but CRK brought in whole legions of people who haven't seen grass in years and it's just sad at this point lol. So long as they're both adults (ZERO tolerance for adult/minor ships at all times, fuck that shit), why does it matter? It's fiction. No one is being harmed. Explore whatever concept or dynamic you wish. Wholesome, toxic, everything in between. Just remember to maintain a healthy level of detachment from it all; don't get mad if people don't ship the same ships you do, don't get wrapped up in discourse or arguing or anything. Doesn't do anyone any good, including you and me.

There are plenty of ships I don't like (in general, even outside of Cookie Run). I am anti-FireWind and always will be. ShadowSpice makes less than zero sense to me, like wtf are you people on about lol. Hollytaya gives me rabies and I hate remembering it exists (God I hate Hollytaya so fucking much it is absolutely unreal lmao). Guess what? I block the ship tags and go about my business. I don't go out of my way to look for ship art or fics, nor do I bother people who ship any of those (or any other ships I don't like). I have friends and acquaintances that ship these three that I've listed, and I don't think any less of them for it. It's all good in the neighborhood. All shipping is at the end of the day is playing dollhouse. Getting mad at people for playing with the dolls in the "wrong" way is dumb and pathetic lol. Live and let live. Hate the ship, not the shipper.
