THEY'RE HERE!!

MY PITAYAFIRE BABY!!

Their name is Resin Spurge Cookie, based off of the plant of the same name that has a chemical in it called resiniferatoxin that's 500 to 1000 hotter than pure capsaicin!! They're the child of Pitaya Dragon Cookie and Fire Spirit Cookie, born looong before the events of the main story!!

And now they have a new adopted sibling in Snapdragon Cookie!!

They were drawn for me by my friend @creamecream!!

The fandom is really nasty to pitayafire (Pitaya x fire spirit) shippers when they’re isn’t many of them. I can’t even talk about it because everyone has formed such a toxic view on the ship. \;0;/ I hope people can actually read their stories because the amount of times I’ve been attacked is ridiculous.

I wasn't PLANNING on shipping these two since I saw their relationship as purely transactional, buuut I haven't found anyone else I really like Pitaya with despite my best efforts, so here we are!

Here, take this depressed Fire Spirit ignoring Pitaya, because he's got bad gender dysphoria + whatever else he's got bottled up in there. Feeling like he's a complete burden to Pitaya. (Not that he ever really vents to Pitaya or anyone anyway.) BUT Pitaya is gonna do whatever they can to help Fire Spirit feel better and loved. (Also I apologize that I keep posting sketches sfhgjasvfdksdvaf I thought about making this into a full comic but I got tired.) -

Fankid Blorbo #3 in da house

+ Some facts about him

He is their biological son. Cookie explanation is Fire Spirit's dough mixed with a vial of Pitaya Dragon's blood/strawberry jam. Human explanation is... some kind of magic idk lol

He is younger than Snapdragon (born post-canon) but will one day be the taller sibling despite the age difference

Many of his clothes are gifts from the Mala Tribe, tailor-made just for him. They're already used to making offerings to Pitaya and Fire Spirit, adding Lava to their habits of worship is no trouble

He has little dragon scales littering his body; a lesser (but still noticeable) amount than Pitaya. A sprinkling on his shoulders, on the back of his hands, a long, thin streak creeping along the length of his spine. As he ages, more will appear. By the time he's an adult, he won't look too different from Pitaya

He inherited the majority of his powers from Fire Spirit, namely his pyrokinesis*. But he also got Pitaya's fire breath

He got the best (worst) personality traits from both parents, thus making him perhaps the most obnoxious little delinquent to ever walk the earth lol

Lava Smoothie and Pepper Jack are lifelong best friends (they're even the same age!). Burning Spice and Pitaya Dragon are buddies and wanted/hoped their sons would develop a similar connection. Their dream came true; Jack and Lava get along like a house on fire and are practically inseparable

He calls Fire Spirit "Dad" and Pitaya Dragon "Pops" (teasing, but light and born from genuine affection. Pitaya acts annoyed by it, but would be genuinely upset if he stopped)

He seeks to one day out-smartass Fire Spirit. He has yet to succeed but refuses to quit

He can touch water without being harmed, but it feels... strange to him. Uncomfortable. It makes him itch. So he'd rather avoid it when possible

He is secretly very, very insecure about his lineage. He fears that Pitaya loves him less than he loves Snapdragon because he's a half-breed. It doesn't help that he primarily takes after Fire Spirit (esp in appearance) and didn't inherit many draconic features (he is most notably missing wings and a tail*. It's a very sore spot for him)

* In both a more general desire to become stronger plus his desperation be more like a dragon, Lava has taught himself to "mold" his flames into a (mostly) functional, makeshift pair of wings and tail. So long as he concentrates, they will maintain their shape and functionality; break his focus and they'll disappear. (With time and practice, he'll eventually learn to create and maintain them with but a flick of his wrist, and they will exist as long as he's conscious, no focus necessary)

He smells kinda fruity lol (he smells faintly of dragon fruit)

I was gonna make a silly comic of Pitaya picking up a sleepy Fire Spirit off the floor, but this came out instead. Also I know Fire Spirit is microscopic compared to them but shhh... I just like my size difference. I like to think this is what happened after my last post. -

In the Spanish dub of wings of fire, fire spirit says: “A dragon? Dragons aren’t handsome!” Denial.

Fire Spirit would call the Spanish translation team a bunch of clowns, but clowns are actually funny.

He wants that dragon so fucking bad oh my God it hurts it hurts so bad-

Sharing with you, my comrade in PitayaFire, the fact that in the original Korean text, it's stated that Pitaya is watching/hanging around Fire Spirit all the fucking time.

The translation here is a little wobbly I think, but I looked into it. Fire Spirit is saying something like "why do I feel eyes in the back of my head?" Pitaya is following him around 24/7. Never, ever leaves him alone. Even the Kingdom wiki acknowledges this

Pitaya Dragon is canonically fixated on Fire Spirit to the point that he notices and comments on it. PitayaFire is canon, we win

DUDE?? This is a lot better than the eng versions "Something's happened...!" imo. I like that it adds more to it. I love learning about the OG Korean text/voice lines. I heard they changed a lot and even butchered things in the eng translations, which makes me super disappointed. I'm glad you showed me this! Pitaya Dragon is literally obsessed with him. 😭 Yes... Yess... More ship fuel for me. Fire Spirit is stuck with this dragon no matter what. Makes me wonder if they'll do anything with this in CRK. I really, REALLY hope they do. I appreciate that you shared this with me! Thank you my liege. Pitayafire canon. °☆ (This gives me some fun ideas for animations/drawings. I love writing obsessive characters.)
