THE BULLSEYE KILLER/RIVER ANNABELLA PORTER - OFFICIAL LORE

Born into a hunting family in South England, River grew up on a farm and took particular interest in learning archery at home, got so good to the point that when she went hunting with her local group, while they had guns, she would have her bow (which had to be kept on the down low cuz she was literally 10 and hunting with a bow is illegal in the uk).

The summer she turned 10, two American men had come over for the summer and were avid hunters and became friends with her parents at a bar so they ended up joining the group to go hunting a few times. As time went on they took a strange interest in River, her black wavy hair, blue eyes, freckles and witty personality which was way beyond her years, captivated their sick minds. As the summer drew to a close, one night, they broke into the family’s farmhouse and took her and fled the country.

They took her to Alabama and kept her in a soundproof room below the house, handcuffed to a radiator. They abused her in every sick way you can think of for the next 10 years. Back in the uk, after a couple of years the search for River had died down as her abductors had covered their tracks so well and used fake identities. She was legally pronounced dead.

River suffered terribly at the start but quickly became hardened to it. She was a hunter, a survivalist at heart and did anything she needed to stay alive.

The handcuffs were never changed. This would end up being River’s smoking gun. She noticed they had rusted terribly and knew that rusted & corroded metal becomes weak. She pulled and pulled with all her might and the chain snapped in two. She managed to snap the link that kept her hands together and knew if she was going to get out, it was now.

She snuck upstairs, knowing they were avid hunters and they must have weapons. River spotted a bow and it was like an oasis in a desert, she grabbed the bow and ran like her life depended on it into the woods near the house. However, something propelled her to stop, turn around and wait.

She watched the men panic and decided then and there that if she didn’t put a stop to this now, she’d spend her whole life running from them. As if something took ahold of her, she drew her bow from the shadows and shot the first man, her aim still as good as all those years ago, the arrow right between his eyes as he dropped limp like a ragdoll. She drew another arrow and the other man, who was stood there in horror, crumpled to the floor as she let another arrow fly.

As soon as the second arrow hit, River ran. She ran and ran until her legs collapsed. The woods she had run into happened to be Rosswood Park. It didn’t take long until Slender found her and took her in.

It took her a while to settle and become comfortable with everyone in the mansion as she hadn’t been around new people for almost half her life, but she quickly became incredibly good friends with Ben and Toby and her cheeky, witty personality made an appearance again (very apparent in the misthill au, she’s feral when that begins)

She’s very close with Tim/Masky and Brian/hoodie as they were there when slender found her and they were some of the first people to show her kindness after her ordeal so she clung onto them massively for the first few weeks at the mansion.

Eyeless Jack prescribed her medication to help with her severe depression and she also experienced slender sickness awfully when she first came so he medicated that too so she wasn’t so unwell. He helped her talk through her experiences and once he deemed her stable enough she was sent out on missions with everyone.

River has severe issues with feeling/being trapped. She cannot be physically cornered or feels like she can’t get out of a situation or it’s like a switch flips and she gets incredibly aggressive.

When she first came to the mansion she had massive issues with being touched, even if it was something as simple a pat on the back due to the abuse she endured. The creeps have been slowly working on this with her since she’s been with them and she will now accept physical touch.

She’s been at the mansion for about 8 months at this point in time and is getting better everyday. Everything is alright now.
