Snapdragon's nightmare

The world was silent. Too silent.

Snapdragon stood alone in a vast, blackened void. Nothing above. Nothing below. Just... emptiness.

Then came the voices.

At first, only whispers. Then louder. Overlapping. Echoing from every direction.

The shadows pulsed, twisted, crawled.

Images flashed like lightning across the darkness—

The ruins of the Hollyberry Kingdom, crumbled and scorched, burning in a sea of fire.

Cookies running, fleeing, screaming.

Their faces twisted with fear… and disgust.

And then.

Pitaya Dragon Cookie. Their face and hair burned, one eye slashed and jam seeping down their cheek.

Hollyberry Cookie, collapsed, wounded. Her arm gone and jam soaking into the dirt beneath her.

The voices grew sharper, Closer. The air turned thick, choking. Snapdragon couldn’t breathe. It crouched down, coiling tightly, its tail wrapping around its trembling body.

The voices wouldn’t stop. Wouldn’t leave. Wouldn’t forget.

“Stay away from it!” “It’s dangerous, don’t get close!” “Run before it lashes out again!” “That dragonette is a monster!” “Why did we ever let it live?”

They echoed, warped, twisting into one another like claws tearing through its mind.

"Taya..."

The name escaped its lips, a broken whisper, a cry, a desperate plea.

Then... light. Not harsh, not blinding, gentle.

It didn’t come from the voices. It came from behind. Snapdragon turned, barely daring to hope. Its eyes wide, breath uneven, tears falling.

Standing there… Pitaya Dragon Cookie, and beside them, Hollyberry Cookie.

There were no voices now.

Pitaya Dragon Cookie stepped forward, expression steady, soft, but sure. Without hesitation, they reached out, gently pulling Snapdragon into their arms. A quiet, protective embrace.

Snapdragon trembled, curling into them. Hollyberry stood nearby, her presence strong, grounded. Not cold, not cruel, just... calm.

Snapdragon couldn’t be sure what she truly felt, not after everything it had done, but her presence held no hatred, no shouting, no fear, no calling it a monster. Just stillness, warmth and a quiet, unspoken understanding.

Snapdragon buried its face into Pitaya’s armor, claws clutching the metal, as if afraid they might disappear.

Pitaya’s hand rested gently on its back, holding it steady.

The voices were gone.

And Snapdragon wanted to stay there, just a little longer, before waking up.

Snapdragon slowly opened its eyes.

Still in the same place, Dragon’s Valley, deep inside the cave. Its claws twitched, brushing against the rough stone floor.

The cave walls were still scorched, blackened with marks from when it had lost control. Burned during the outburst.

It looked at its hands, covered jam from when it had attacked a Cookie while fleeing here, it's appearance still slightly changed.

The nightmare still clung to its thoughts. For everything it did, the unforgivable act

Would it go back...? It don't know. Not yet.

Right now... it looked down at its claws. And for now, it only thought about washing the jam off.
