"Corner of the sky" before watching Pippin: Beautiful uplifting song about finding your place in the world.
"Corner of the sky" after watching Pippin: the most heartwretching shit ever.

Mild spoilers but jane krakowski's solo in episode 3 referenced at least 3 musicals (possibly more, I genuinely lost count) and also was genuinely so good

Listen I’ve gotta put this out there, idk if it’s me projecting and frankly I don’t care
This song is soooo Arthur
Like it gives me his vibes, and there’s so many similarities to unpack here
First this is when Pippin becomes king (see where I’m going with this) after he kills his father bc his father is evil and unjust (sounding a little like someone we know!!) and he’s bringing change (like somebody’s supposed to bring magic back to the land)…
Tbh when I find time I’m gonna do a full on analysis between the two of them bc it’s uncanny. Like
Doomed by the narrative? ✅
Destiny?? Fate???✅
Bad dad?✅
Coronation?✅
Granted, Pippin doesn’t stay king, but this number on its own just reminds me of Arthur so much I had to say something and I needed to know if other people have also made this connection bc IM NOT CRAZY

It's ten-year redraw time!
I'm actually doing two redraws this year, because ironically, ten years ago I was in another Lord of the Rings spiral, and I have several pieces I wanted to revisit. First up is this unfinished piece, which wasn't even all that good by 2013 standards:
Tumblr media
The redraw:
Tumblr media
"Merry and Pippin in the middle boat were ill at ease, for Boromir sat muttering to himself, sometimes biting his nails, as if some restlessness or doubt consumed him, sometimes seizing a paddle and driving the boat close behind Aragorn's. Then Pippin, who sat in the bow looking back, caught a queer gleam in his eye, as he peered forward gazing at Frodo." -The Fellowship of the Ring
Redrawing this piece reminded me of the stint in high school where I drew Dom and Billy so much that I had a shorthand for their faces, just like now I have a shorthand for Sean's face after this ridiculous year.

Broadway Divas Tournament: Round 1D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beloved character actress Andrea Martin (1947) is a two-time Tony winner for My Favorite Year (1993) and Pippin (2013), both for Best Featured Actress in a Musical, a nomination she has received five times, more than any other actress. Other stage work includes Exit the King (2009), Noises Off (2016), and A Christmas Carol (2019). You may know her from SCTV if you're old enough, where her impersonations and portrayals will make you cry laughing.
It is a hate crime against me personally that there isn't a single high quality photo of Linda Eder (1961) with her silver fox hair. She is best known for originating the role of Lucy Harris in Jekyll & Hyde (1997), and her career has mainly consisted of concert tours, cabaret acts, and an impressive discography. She teaches masterclasses and vocal lessons. She has an upcoming return engagement at 54 Below, and if someone could send me like $200 to go, that would be great.

"You need to watch the clip above. Nothing in this world will prepare you for the absolute joy of a sixty-something woman doing acrobatic stunts on a Broadway stage in a corset. Andrea Martin stole the whole damn show in the span of ten minutes. Stopped it cold night after night. She's a scream, and I adore her."

"I got to see her at 54 Below a few years back, and when she walked on that stage with her fully silver hair, my lesbian jaw hit the floor. I was besotted. She has such a natural swagger to her. Very attractive."
