You can use whatever and I'm not here to argue with pipe snobs, but a zippo with a chimney insert (invented in the 1930s, so is period accurate to my vintage looks) is the most convenient for me. It allows you to draw the flame into the bowl without risk to your fingers.

My dog Pipo sat down to watch House MD with us and he would bark ONLY when House came on the screen. He’d stop when House went off screen and start again when he came back. And he only barked at House. I think my dog can sense medical malpractice
