NEW FIC ALERT (of sorts?)
Have you heard of the amazing story "Pining in Preschool", written by the amazing @palfriendpatine66 ? They were kind enough to allow me to take my first steps into Podfic territory with this story which is so near and dear to me! If audioworks are your thing, maybe give it a listen? Otherwise, the link to the story is embedded in the Podfic, so you should definitely go read it! And if you have already, just read it again! <3

Hello there 👋 For the Writers Truth or Dare, would you mind sharing (please):
🛼 ⇢ describe your latest wip with five emoji
🛼 - HA! I love this. Okay, here goes.
🪖👱🫶👨🍼👬
The hard part is that my latest wip isn't added to my wip list yet. Lol. So here's a little written explanation of the emojis: Din and Luke are dating, and it's time for Din and his son to meet Luke's parents (Anakin and Obi-Wan). The characterization of obikin are directly inspired by PiP by the lovely @palfriendpatine66.
Thanks so much for the ask! 💖

What subjects did Luke and Leia like best in school, high school that is. And did Obi-Wan or Anakin struggle with "New Math" like the Mister Incredible Meme? 😄
Ok just spitballing headcannon time:
I think Luke is a fine student who does okay across the board but isn't super into classes, and he's cool with that. He is one of those kids who finds someone to talk to no matter where he's seated, and he's generally well liked. I think the teachers, for the most part, like him because he's sweet and A Good Kid - even if he gets up to good natured shenanigans with his friends and is a personal fan of getting the teacher off topic so they run out of time and don't assign homework.
Leia is on the AP track and those teachers *love* having her in class because it's refreshing to have a student who is passionate and thinks critically about the material. She probably has one humanities teacher who is her sworn enemy - Leia thinks they're a pompous ass out to get her because they don't like their authority to be challenged, and the teacher is at the end of their rope with her malicious compliance, exploitation of loopholes, blatant disrespect, and rebellious nature disrupting their class.
Math is a sore subject in their household and Leia and Luke both know better than to ask for help. Obi-Wan insists on the importance of "new math" teaching math conceptually - even if he doesn't know how to use all the new methods himself. He makes the twins follow the examples that he doesn't understand (to the frustration of all when they get the wrong answers and he doesn't know what they did wrong where and why) and exhales a huge sigh of relief when they get to algebra and start working with equations again because this he knows how to do. Anakin says it doesn't matter how you do it as long as you get the right answers, but he confuses everybody ten million times worse when he suggests that they "do it the easy way" and then explains his mental math process which makes no sense to anyone else but him.

There's a cafe by my office with a 'You Can't Buy Love But You Can Buy Ice Cream' sign on the wall and I think of you and PiP Anakin every time I walk by
That’s the perfect and 100% true.
This ask made me so happy. I miss PiP obikin and my most ice cream heavy fic and it warms my heart to know people are still thinking about them
(👨👧👦 + 🍦) + 🧔♂️ + 🐈 = 💕👨👨👧👦💕

@willameena it’s as if you read my mind. This was 100% the reason I asked how to do an oil change in the first place. Literally everything you said was spot on accurate
[but you left out the part where this is happening at Rex’s garage and he comes back from his lunch or whatever and instantly regrets all of his life choices that have led to this moment] 😉
Given that Mr Pal wrote this for me months ago and I haven’t put any words to it since I even used the pics I had saved to go with this unwritten chapter for this mood board

NSFW headcanon:
Pining Obikin: the kids are out for the night so that means the men get to play😈
PiP obikin my beloved 💕
Obi-Wan rushed through the door of the unexpectedly dark and quiet house and took the stairs two at a time when it was clear that the first floor didn’t hold any answers as to why he’d received an ominous message from his husband to ‘come home ASAP’. He moved quickly past the empty rooms lining the hall to the soft glow that beckoned from behind the cracked the door of their bedroom. He stopped in his tracks at the sight of Anakin sprawled on their bed, his long fingers moving rhythmically beneath lace underwear.
“Are you going to just stand there,” Anakin prompted when words failed, “I know we have all night but I was hoping to make the most of it.”
Obi-Wan took a deep calming breath at the thought and moved forward to ask with a predatory grin, “And what will we do all night, my dear?”
Ask and you shall receive: send an ask with a nsfw headcanon and I’ll answer with a five sentence ficlet

Pajamas, rambunctious, and distant for Obikin!
The game: send me three words and a character or pairing and I’ll write you a scene
I filled this prompt with the PiP obikin as disgruntled sleepover hosts
Obi-Wan dragged his way back into their bedroom after having quelled the room of rambunctious eight year olds, at least for now. He left the door open so they could keep an ear on the activities down the hall. Luke and Leia both had friends staying over for their first sleepover party.
He also fervently hoped it would be their last. He liked their friends a lot better in the daytime hours. His jaw cracked as he yawned and crawled into bed, nudging his husband under his swath of blankets. “You’re up next. It’s after midnight. I’m calling in backup.”
“Mmm?”
Obi-Wan decided that probably meant something along the lines of what was it this time? and answered as such. “Leia dared Luke to climb into the roof.”
“Mmm.”
Obi-Wan didn’t accept that one as easily. “Anakin?” He worked an arm under the tightly wrapped blanket. “Did you hear me? Don’t you want to know if he made it onto the roof?”
“Mmm.” Anakin shrugged.
Obi-Wan had to concede that since there hadn’t been any extended yelling or emergency calls it was fairly obvious that he had not. However. “You may be interested to know I stopped him halfway out the window.”
Anakin flipped over, his eyes wide, and Obi-Wan regretted the dramatics, at least a bit. “Or he would have been if he could figure out the lock,” he corrected. “I’m glad to know you’re actually listening,” he took his husband’s hands between his own and squeezed lightly. “What’s wrong? You’ve been distant since they all changed into their pajamas.”
“I’m just not good at this,” Anakin admitted. “Not like you. I love my kids. But these other ones?” He groaned as as a chorus of shrieks reached them from down the hall. “These other ones need to get the hell out of my house.”
“Wow,” Obi-Wan sounded dazed as he sat up and narrowed his eyes at their open door as if that would make it more clear if he needed to intervene once more. “I can’t believe it. You know, I truly never thought I’d see the day.”
“What day?”
“The day I’m the fun parent.”
“Shut up,” Anakin angrily buried his head under his pillow. Obi-Wan slipped off the bed and grabbed his own to use as a shield as he entered the pillow fight, not bothering to ask if that had been directed at him or not; he would just assume the answer was both.
Obi-Wan wouldn’t force a nearly murderous, tired Anakin upon the room of unsuspecting eight year olds, but he looked forward to calling in his debt. His husband owed him, big time. The moment he entered the room his glasses were sent flying by a well aimed pillow. He was getting too old for this.

In case someone hasn't seen this.
Hello friend! I was thinking about PiP (always) and I remembered Obi-Wan telling Anakin that he's had some... regretful hair cuts in the past. Then I remembered that Suit Life of Zach and Cody episode where Cody dyes his hair and I ended up coming up with this little scene for my It Takes a Village WIP. Since PiP inspired it I wanted to share it with you! 💖
---
Obi-Wan stepped lightly away from Korkie’s room, avoiding the creaky spot just outside the door, and made his way into the living room. It had been a hectic few days getting all of Anakin's belongings moved over and (mostly) unpacked. Padme hadn't been kidding when she said he didn't have many household belongings - he had a grand total of two bowls, three plates, miscellaneous silverware that were all mismatched and Obi-Wan suspected came from various restaurants, and a handful of other appliances. The only furniture he opted to keep was his bed, deciding that the sad excuse for a drooping couch wasn't worth putting in storage for when he eventually moved out.
What she hadn't told him about, though, was the sheer amount of things Anakin had. Apparently Anakin partook in many different hobbies, depending on his mood. He had random computer and robotics circuitry and parts, surprisingly soft yarn and a pair of knitting needles that appeared to have seen better days, an empty fish bowl that now housed an assortment of rocks, and various tools that Obi-Wan was secretly glad Anakin was bringing into the house (his dinky little toolbox was paltry in comparison and he was positive that taking care of Korkie - and Anakin - would require something to be repaired in the future).
But they had finally finished finding homes for everything. And in the process, Anakin had found a few of Obi-Wan's belongings that he decided needed to also be re-housed. Namely, an old scrapbook Qui-Gon had given him as a housewarming present years ago. Qui-Gon and Padme had meticulously included copies of everything from their lives together from copies of Obi-Wan's adoption papers, pictures of Obi-Wan cuddling with his newborn sister, notes that Padme had found between herself and Obi-Wan, to pictures of Obi-Wan in front of the house holding the first box he brought in. While he cherished the book - and the memories it invoked - he had had it in a drawer of a side table in the living room. Now Anakin insisted it needed a more prominent position. He also briefly mentioned starting one for Korkie, but when Obi-Wan asked him about it he quickly changed the subject.
When Obi-Wan sat down on the couch next to Anakin he was hardly surprised to see his new roommate looking through the pictures. He hadn't had the chance to get through all of it, but once he got permission to look he had become determined to look at everything it contained.
“Aw, you dressed up with Padme for Halloween!”
“Oh yes, I remember that year. She was obsessed with Peter Pan.” Obi-Wan chuckled. “She loved that he and I had matching hair, so she decided it would be perfect for us to go as Peter and Tinkerbell.”
“That's adorable.” The smile on Anakin's face made Obi-Wan's night in uncomfortable green tights worth it. Mostly. “Not many teenagers would have agreed to go out with their little sister, let alone dress up.”
“Well, you know she and I have always been close. Besides, when she wants her way she knows exactly what to say to get it. There's a reason she’s going to school for politics.”
Anakin turned the page and froze, Obi-Wan letting out a groan that was much too loud for naptime when he saw what caught his eye.
“What. Is this?”
In the picture, seventeen year old Obi-Wan had a scowl on his face while his mom fretted behind him trying in equal parts to help and not to laugh. Instead of his usual auburn hair that Anakin had always seen, his locks were a bright, Christmas red.
“What you have to understand is-”
“How have I never seen this before?! Surely I would have remembered this hairstyle!”
Obi-Wan's forehead dropped into his hand. “I was mad at Qui-Gon for not letting me do something - I don't even remember what. So when I was at a friend’s house we had decided a great way at getting back at him would be to dye my hair.”
“You picked this color?!”
“No! We dyed it black. Needless to say, mom and dad were not pleased when I came home. I think that was the closest I've ever seen Qui-Gon to being angry with me. He immediately drove me to the store and we got bleach and a box of hair dye that looked like it would be close to my natural color. When we got back, mom tried her best but this was the result. It was supposed to be ‘Honey Mist Auburn’ if I remember correctly.”
Anakin bit his lip, trying desperately to hold back a laugh. “Honey, you missed auburn big time.”
Obi-Wan rolled his eyes and Anakin let out a guffaw.
“Yes, well. We ended up having to go to a salon. That was when I had that horrible, short haircut, remember? Most of my hair ended up so damaged that they had to chop it off. But at least they were able to salvage the color and I didn't have to shave it.”
Anakin hid his face in Obi-Wan's shoulder to try and quiet his laughs. He knew what Korkie would be like if you woke him up too soon from his nap and he didn't want to start their co-habitation on the wrong foot. Obi-Wan found he didn't mind. He actually quite enjoyed feeling Anakin's body vibrate with his mirth and the hot puffs of breath against his neck. He smiled to himself, despite looking directly at picture evidence of his youthful mistakes.
Ok first I’m going to make this about me for a hot second. That’s twice tonight someone’s told me they’re still thinking about PiP. And my heart. Seriously. I cannot tell you just how happy this makes me. And that any part of it INSPIRED something more? Crying.
Ok. Now that I’ve gotten me out of the way:
I need to know more about this au!!!!
Yes to weird junk drawer pack rat Anakin.
Yes to stolen silverware.
Yes to honey auburn mist!!!!!

I was at one of those indoor trampoline parks for a kid bday party today and there was a dad in the dodgeball pit just mercilessly pelting kids with foam balls. Then a woman came running over, I’m assuming his wife, going “STOP it! Get OUT of there! I need you to help me set up the cupcakes!” And obviously this was Obikin in the wild. I thought of you because I imagine something like this happened in the PIP universe.
Thank you for thinking of PiP and sharing with me!!! It makes my heart happy 💕
So yesterday I was at a trampoline park too! And of course I was 100% having obikin thoughts!
My first thought was PiP family being exactly like the one you saw in the wild: Anakin would 100% be owning all of Luke’s friends at dodgeball when it turns out Luke is actually terrible at it to help him save face and/or challenging Obi-Wan to a dunking competition at basketball courts - while Leia is pretending she is with another family entirely
But then - I have some kind of really vague thoughts for a nanny au that I’ve never really settled on a plot/dynamics for. The kids are younger in this, maybe 4. This is at the beginning when Anakin hasn’t officially hired Obi-Wan yet: they bring the kids out together because he’s still seeing if they’re a good fit. I’m imagining Obi-Wan basically having a panic attack trying to keep track of the kids in all the mayhem. Luke gets lost in the climbing structure and can’t find his way out, despite Leia going in to help him and Obi-Wan’s calm, clear directions, so Anakin goes in after him. It’s the first time Obi-Wan softens to him - Anakin is an asshole in this to everyone who is Not His People - when he sees him be patient and kind with the kids. Anakin decides Obi-Wan is alright and hires him as their nanny.

7 & 8! Please & thank you :)
Find more asks here
7. your preferred writing font
I’m super basic and just go with whatever is default
8. if you had to write a sequel to a fic, you’d write one for…
Remember I had a total of 3 days where I wanted to do Flufftober that was PiP obikin revisiting memories of the years in between when the story ended (kindergarten) and the twins starting college? I really, really want to get back to that as a sequel(ish) to PiP. I loved what was happening there.
Other than that…I kind of want to make a part 2 to the vampire one shot that’s from Anakin’s perspective after he turns. (But I’ve been saying that since I posted the one shot so…)

20 Question Fic Writer Tag
1.) How many works do you have on ao3?
19, soon to be 20! ( three are just little prompt fills/drabbles that I’ve considered removing but also – I want to be able to find them again just in case they ever turn into something more so.)
2.) What's your ao3 word count?
306, 375
3.) What fandoms do you write for?
Star Wars. That’s it, and probably all it will ever be (except for my crazy crossover aus). It’s a full time job over here.
4.) What are your top five fics by kudos?
DX:Lovesick (I had a really weird moment when this passed PIP in the kudos count. Like, I love it and was really proud of it, but also: how dare it). Anakin is an accident prone college student who winds up in the care of one very hot Dr. Obi-Wan Kenobi
Pining in Preschool: My first ever fic (started exactly one year ago!) Anakin is trying his best to be a good dad to his twins, and that probably means he shouldn’t be falling for their preschool teacher.
Hide Here Often: This is bottom Obi-Wan smutty one shot
Helicopter Dad: This is a continuation of Pining in Preschool: 4 times that Anakin was a Helicopter parent and one time Obi-Wan beat him to it. I’ve been intending to do a part two with Obi-Wan ever since, but it hasn’t happened yet.
With a Cherry on Top: This is a ridiculous continuation of Pining in Preschool – Obi-Wan and Anakin get in a fight about eating in bed that results in a sex ban until one of them backs down. Spoiler alert: it ends with a sexy food in bed scenario because *of course* if they break they have to prove a point about it
5.) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to always yes. I used to have a 100% track record, and I really wish I was maintaining it. Comments are my lifeblood. I literally cannot tell you how important receiving comments is to me, it’s like, a problem honestly, and so it’s definitely something I want to encourage. I try to always respond to a comment at least as an acknowledgement of “I appreciate you were here and took the time to let me know you liked this”. BUT also I genuinely love engaging about my fics and am more than happy to go on my “Author’s Commentary” spiel at any given moment.
Life’s kind of been shit lately, and I’ve had a hard time if I don’t respond to comments right away as they come in they get lost in my inbox. Also. ADHD.
6.) What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
OoOoOo Window AU – to be revealed tomorrow. I don’t have the ending for Criminal Minds fully written, but even though it might be a “happy ending” it’s not going to be a happy ending, if you know what I mean. OH BUT if I ever write my post order 66 Obi-Wan on Tatooine vague idea for which the working title is “Obi-Wan Sads”. Yeah. That will probably be the worst.
7.) What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hmm. Pining for Preschool probably. It ends on a very high note, although also it’s not really an ending because I continued it into a potentially never ending series that seems to be 90% fluff after the angst I put them through in the original fic.
Also Center Stage (dance au)was a happy ending for sure.
8.) Do you get hate on fics?
No, generally all my comments are very positive. There was a weird moment in DX:Lovesick where I wasn’t necessarily getting the hate but Obi-Wan was, and he was getting a lot of it. I wasn’t upset by the comments so much as I was worried that I didn’t write well/clear enough to convey the situation as I thought I was, but I settled on people are going to read their own situations into stories and interpret it differently than intended and that’s okay.
9.) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Yes. The Obi-Wan and Anakin kind.
10.) Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I had a fit of insanity and wrote an Obikin Titanic au.
11.) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I hope not. That would be sad
12.) Have you ever had a fic translated?
I don’t think so no
13.) Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Nope! I think I have too much anxiety to commit to doing this, even with the right people. Put expectations on things and I just…can’t.
14.) What's your all time favorite ship?
IDK man. Kovu and Kiara from Lion King II: Simba’s Pride
15.) What's a WIP you'd like to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Right at the time I started writing PiP I started a time travel (?) au that resulted in amnesiac Knight Skywalker as master to padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi right when he rejoins the order after returning from Melida/Daan, instead of rejoining Qui-Gon. I would be shocked if I ever get back to thin, I really jumped the gun and there’s so much of it I don’t have in me, but…there’s still something about it that calls to me.
16.) What are your writing strengths?
I always feel super awkward answering this, but I feel pretty good about capturing Obi-Wan and Anakin’s voices, especially their internal voices (if that makes sense) so that they still feel like them in other universes
17.) What are your writing weaknesses?
Oh gosh. I am learning as I go. Outlining/having a plan and sticking to it vs. just winging it as I go along. Knowing where paragraphs should start and end – which feels like you should just *know* but I don’t. Descriptions.
18.) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Great! But I’m not fluent enough in anything to do it
19.) First fandom you wrote for?
Star Wars – Hiiiii!
Also, though, the only other stuff I wrote was Star Wars but the year was 2005 and it was for an audience of one (me!). Your Pal was a nerd who carried around a little notebook and wrote down every piece of jedi wisdom and quotes I encountered while I wrote about Obi-Wan and his OC apprentice who was *definitely*not*me* (their name was literally an anagram of my name lol) on their long term undercover mission on Earth, among other things.
20.) Favorite fic you've ever written?
This varies by the mood. I genuinely love Pining in Preschool, and it will always have a really special place in my heart. Dx:Lovesick was a very fun ride, I really and truly enjoyed writing it and I feel like it holds up. Right now I’m pretty attached to Criminal Minds, for a completely different dynamic and take on obikin.
No pressure tag to @renlyslittlerose and @grapenehifics
