Title: A Little Misunderstanding Word Count: 2247 Rated: General. Characters/Pairings: Jay/Jordan, Minor appearances by Carlos, Gil and Leslie Lefou(pinkzoby’s OC) others mentioned. He wasn’t sure what he had done to earn Jordan’s wrath. The young genie hadn’t spoken a single word to him the whole week and Jay was really beginning to worry. A glare was his only greeting whenever they crossed paths; followed by Jordan’s quick retreat, her nose turned up in the air. Every time Jay stood and watched as she left without so much as a glance behind. It left him scratching his beanie covered head each time.

Evie and Mal were as clueless as he was, Jordan refusing to speak to either girl beyond a simple greeting. All the other Auradon girls had apparently turned against him, throwing their own heated glares at him whenever they saw him.

The ladies man had finally fallen, Carlos claimed, finding the situation pretty hilarious, though he did feel bad for his friend.

“Are you sure you didn’t do something to royally piss her off?” Carlos asked while Jay continued to wear a hole into their carpet.

Jay’s hands flew up in frustration, “I didn’t do anything!” Carlos replied with a simple ‘Uh huh’ and Jay threw himself face first onto his bed and screamed. He was starting to feel like an overdramatic teenage girl, lamenting over their crush and wondering what the hell they did wrong. At least he wasn’t crying, so that’s a plus.

The long haired teen sighed, flipping over onto his back. Carlos gave him a sad smile from his own bed causing Jay to frown. He threw an arm up to cover his eyes as he tried to settled down.

“I don’t know, man. We were fine a week ago. We were even talking about going to Agrabah on our next break. She wanted to show me the sights and everything I could have grown up with had I not been the son of, you know?” Jay sighed sadly, “I was kind of looking forward to it,” he grumbled under his breath.

Carlos chuckled, “you big sap.” He ignored the glare directed at him, tossing one of his pillows and smacking Jay in the face. “We’ll figure this out. There has to be someone who knows the answer for Jordan’s sudden cold shoulder. You’ve tried Freddie?”

“Yep, she’s not allowed to talk to me by default thanks to Ally.”

“Harsh. Okay, I think I know someone that we can ask. Tomorrow we’ll talk to her and see if she knows anything.”

Jay really hoped whoever Carlos’ possible helpful aid was really did know something. Audrey and Ally had been quick to rally with Jordan and shun him. Ally always dragged Freddie away before he could get out a word. The Voodoo princess only ever gave a shrug of her shoulders and a slightly apologetic smile. Jane and Lonnie seemed more reluctant to give into the no-speaking-to-Jay-rule their friends had taken too. They at least seemed to be truly apologetic before they too were dragged away.

He just hoped he could get everything to work out and fixed before this went on any longer then it already had. Jay didn’t think he could handle another week without talking to Jordan or even a month. His worst nightmare would be if this continued forever. Jordan was one of the best things to happen to him since he came to Auradon.

He shouldn’t have been too surprised when Carlos couldn’t join him at lunch. Jay knew Carlos really did want to help but a project he was working on with Jane needed his attention and it was hard for anyone to say no to the blue-eye fairy. Carlos at least told him who he needed to look for.

Just because Carlos wasn’t there with him didn’t mean it was the end of the world. Jay’s faced far more fearsome things in his short life on the Isle. He’s just never realized how head-over-heels for this one girl he had fallen. She had a strong grip on his heart and it actually scared him.

Jay shook his head to clear his thoughts, he needed to do this. Needed to find...there she was, tucked away in a corner in the far end of the dining area with a blond sitting across from her. He remembered her from some very brief encounters on the Isle and hoped she held no ill will towards him. Jay didn’t remember if he ever tormented her and prayed to all that was high that he hadn’t. He hurried forward, making a beeline for the table. Gil looked up from his massive plate of food, giving Jay a welcoming smile.

“Hey Jay,” Gil greeted.

Jay returned his smile and sat down in one of many empty chairs, “hope you don’t mind if I join you guys.” Gil shrugged, looking at the reading teen in front of him before stuffing a grape into his mouth.

The girl hadn’t moved since he appeared besides the quick turn of a page from her book. She hadn’t even bothered to look up when he had taken a seat or acknowledged him when he spoke. Gil continued to happily eat his meal apparently used to the quietness at the table. Jay cleared his throat, only to continue to be ignored. He tried again and again, a page flip as the only response. He was finally rewarded on his tenth time. A bookmark carefully place within the worn pages before the book was put down, Dark eyes greeting him.

“Lefou,” he smirked, earning a gentle eye-roll.

“Don’t call me that. Not here. Unlike my father, I prefer to not go by that name,” her arms crossed.

Jay nodded, “right sorry. Old habit,” he gave her his most charming smile, the one that usually made all the girls melt. He knew it had no effect on her but like he said, old habits.

The small curl of her lips let him know he hadn’t made her mad. It wouldn’t have helped his cause to get another girl angry and refuse to talk to him.

“So,” Leslie began, gently tossing her long braid off her shoulder, “was there something you needed?”

Good. Right to the point. “You’re friends with Freddie and Ally and all them right?” he pointed back to the table he had seen Jordan and the others at.

“Last I checked. Why?”

He cleared his throat and he found himself no longer in control of his words, “then do you know why Jordan’s so mad at me? It’s been a week since she started to refuse to talk to me. I’ve been racking my brain for what I did and nothing’s sprung up. I have no idea what I even did to get her to hate me so much.”

“She doesn’t hate you,”

“Gil!”

Jay turned to the blond haired pirate, who shrugged at the light reprimand. “What do you mean?”

“I only know what Leslie’s told me,” Gil continued, biting into a piece of bread. He chewed it for a moment, “but Jordan doesn’t hate you. She thinks you cheated.”

Jay frowned in confusion. “Cheated? Cheated on her with who? She’s the only one I’ve been with.” He leaned back in the chair he was occupying, lost in thought. He tired to remember any instances that may have appeared as questionable. Nothing came to mind. Since they started dating, he had tone down the flirting with others. Most of the girls knew it was all in good fun and he thought Jordan knew him better than that.

“How much time have you been spending with Evie lately?” Leslie’s voice brought him back from his thoughts.

“Not much.”

Her brow rose, “I really shouldn’t be telling you this, but since someone started it,” her eyes narrowed at Gil, who gave her a cheeky smile in return. She shook her head with a laugh, “anyway, Jordan’s noticed you leaving Evie’s room more often than normal. She must of just drawn a conclusion.”

Jay froze. Oh. Oh! So that was it. “She has it all wrong. It’s not like that at all, Evie and I, we’re just friends. Hades, she’s like my sister. Plus she kind of likes someone.”

Leslie nodded, “well that’s something you need to tell Jordan. As far as she’s concerned, you’ve been cheating on her with Evie.”

“Easier said than done,” Jay let his head fall against the table, “she always runs off before I can say anything. Or turns to go the opposite direction the moment she sees me.”

He flinches slightly at the hand that comes to rest on his, giving him a reassuring pat. “I can help with that, if you want that is?”

His head shot up, “can you?”

“Of course, it’s all one big misunderstanding. I think I can get her to meet with you.”

Jay practically beamed as he stood up from his chair. He had stuff to prepare, “Les, if you can do that for me, that’d be awesome! Let know if she’ll talk to me and I swear I’ll put a good word in with Lonnie for you!”

Gil laughed as Leslie Lefou sat flabbergasted, her pale cheeks turning red at Jay’s words. Her mouth opened and closed but no words came. He didn’t think it was that much of a surprise, but he gave her a friendly pat on the shoulder before he left the dining hall. If he was getting his chance to fix this, then he needed to pick something up.

Leslie texted him a few hours later with wonderful news; Jordan would meet him in the foyer for the dorms at ten pm. She also threatened him should he say anything to Lonnie. He would anyway, if the girl was helping him get his little bit of happiness back then he was going to help her with hers.

The foyer was, thankfully, empty when Jay arrived. With Fairy Godmother’s ever strict curfew many of the kids retired to their rooms far earlier than necessary. It gave him more time to think of everything he wanted to tell her. He paced back and forth as he waited, his hand tucked in the pocket of his jeans.

“You were always one to pace when nervous,” Jordan’s voice caused him to jump.

Jay spun around to face her. She stood a few feet away, her long dark, purple streaked hair braided neatly behind her. Her arms wrapped tightly around herself as she drew closer. It took every ounce of willpower in his body to not just take her up into his arms. Both stared at the other, feeling as though ages passed before the silence was finally broken.

“Jay, I’m so sorry.”

“It’s not what you think, Jordan.”

They spoke as one, staring wide-eyed at the other before bursting into laughter. It took a moment for the pair to regain themselves, Jordan recovering quicker than Jay. She cleared her throat, stepping closer.

“I’m so sorry,” she repeated,“Leslie told me how stubborn and harsh I was being for not giving you a chance to explain yourself. I should have at least come to talk to you before I jumped to my own conclusion. It’s just every time I passed Evie’s room, you were coming out and you both were always so cheery. I thought something else was going on.”

She stopped in front of him, meeting his eyes. He wasn’t used to this nervous version of Jordan. She’d always been confident in herself, but now he could see the vulnerability and fear in her blue eyes. He could see how much she truly cared for him.

Jay smiled, something he noted made her body ease, taking one of the black and purple locks that still framed her face.

“I was only constantly in Evie’s room because of this,” he pulled the square box from his pocket and held it out for her. Jordan carefully took it from him, eyeing him in confusion. “Open it you’ll see.”

She did as told, gasping at the treasure inside. Jay reached forward and held up the golden charm bracelet. It was different from the bangles she constantly wore, but beautiful all the same. Jordan took it from him, her fingers gently tracing one of the charms already adorning it.

“Is that a little flying carpet? And my genie bottle? And a little cobra?” the excitement in her face grew with each newly discovered charm.

He sheepishly rubbed the back of his head, “I was afraid if I kept it in my room that you’d find it. I was going to wait until the ball to give it you but,” he gave a slight shrug, “Evie helped and offered to hide it in her room until I was ready to give it to you.”

A soft sniffle came from his girlfriend, Jordan carefully placed the bracelet back in the box. Her blue eyes shone with tears when she looked up at him once more. He worried for all of moment, before a bright smile came to Jordan’s lips. Before he could say anything, Jordan reached out for him, drawing him down for a long overdue kiss. He melted, content in the feel of her sweet lips against his. He had missed that feeling so much. It only lasted a few minutes more, before Jordan pulled away. Jay rested his forehead against hers, eyes closed as he relished the feeling of her in his arms.

“It’s beautiful, Jay. Thank you.”

He gave her a gentle squeeze, “it’ll never compare to you.”
