Help! Fast-food franchise is not making any money

My parents own a fast-food restaurant franchise. It has no seating but there’s a food court next to it for dining. It doesn’t have a very good spot. It’s kinda hidden from view and not many people are buying from it.

Sales haven’t improved since opening last July and we don’t know what to do.

The franchise has a Facebook account where it posts its many promotions yet it doesn’t seem to attract any customers. Should we start paying and advertising?

The problem with advertising is that we don’t know if customers will be attracted to our franchise or others. There’s a franchise of the same company about 2km away and our goal is to bring customers to our location.

My parents keep thinking of new promotional ways to attract people like making contests and competitions. If you guys have any suggestions, please do share!

Also, is there another way to solve this problem aside from promotions?
