I just want to apologize to OP
Tumblr media
I’m sorry for giving you the benefit of the doubt
I’m sorry for assuming you might be a sane functional human being with working brain cells.
Also one of their followers (I believe) a user named pinkieloveheartpastel accused me of saying that non black people can use the n word which I have literally never once said or insinuated. (Yeah I’m showing their username because they think it’s cute to spread false rumors about me. FYI don’t harass them or send them death threats. Criticism is okay but don’t tell them to off themselves)

Imagine calling someone a disabled able-bodied person and not feeling any ounce of shame or embarrassment.
Oh are we really at the point where we're pretending that you can't call ablebodied people able-bodied because they're pretending it's an insult?????
Yeah you people fucking suck. Fuck off.
Yes, jackasses, you can be ablebodied AND disabled! Autism is a disability, but it doesn't inherently mean you can't be ablebodied!
Just because you have ADHD doesn't mean you can't be ablebodied! But you're still disabled!
Would you fuckers rather people argue that if you're not physically disabled you're not disabled at al??? Since you're now fucking claiming that aknowledging that you're still disabled even if you're ablebodied is somehow an insult?!??!?!??!

“Edgy” poetry by white person that includes slurs
@aliiziot asked:
a (white) friend asked this in our friend server: "I'm writing poetry, this particular poem is very violent and loud, I'm writing in to shake the reader, make them feel yelled at. How okay is it to use the n word in an artistic setting such as this? Its my belief that its okay to use in this context but I want to get a more general consensus." i find thatd be disrespectful and dehumanizing, like its just using the oppression of black people as a prop and i dont think its okay but im not sure how to convey that well?? the only other people who have responded so far are white and one person even said that people are too hypersensitive now and ?? ugh.a bit of help would be appreciated. ;; also i am one of the few POC in the friend group (im nonblack though) and this feels gross and i want to make sure i can speak up where i can :<
Yikes.
It seems like this friend is just asking for controversy and thrives on negative attention. Either that of they’re very ignorant, insensitive, gross, racist...all of the adjectives. This is extremely disrespectful of them. They have no connection to these slurs and are just using them for shock value. You can add depth and send a message without littering the writing with slurs that have nothing to do with you as a white person / someone outside of the marginalized group.
If anyone even bothers to read the poem, they will earn all of the backlash for this willfully ignorant idea.

Commentary (see the replies for more)
@mathieubellamont said:
It reminds me of using real child actors for the Cuties documentary or whatever it was called, just in the way of like..... There are many ways to communicate how bad something is without hurting the people involved. Casually involving these vulnerable (irt the subject matter) groups and putting them in the firing line to make a point is just carelessly neglectful at best and actively malicious at worst
You don't need to make a point about stranger danger by pulling out a knife and threatening someone with it, even if you're acting and stop before it "goes too far". You've already gone too far. Likewise, you don't need to make a point about pain by pulling out something that hurts people, even if you "don't mean it in a racist way, just to make a point" type thing...... Its too far
Not to reply three times lmfao but I'm thinking. Pains probably not the right word here to focus on, but you know. The intersection of slurs and being shaken and upset tends to be pain so that's why I say it
justalurkr said:
You can shake first-time readers without being a hateful shitheel.
@rebellum said:
It's not their place to use that word to shock people
kermitheechalamet said:
what would even be the point in using an anti black slur in a poem that, as near as i can tell, has nothing to do with anti black racism?
@dannyburke said:
there is literally no artistry in using a slur for shock value if you aren't a person targeted by it and making a statement about it?!? especially if the goal of the writing is to make the reader feel yelled at and targeted, literally all that would accomplish is making the piece specifically targeted at people who are *actually targeted by that slur* and why the hell would you want to do that
@pinkieloveheartpastel said:
*orange is the new black intensifies*
deepmocha said:
"...and one person even said that people are too hypersensitive now." You can add gaslighting onto this blatant ignorance of wanting to use the "n" word to add flavor or whatever it is they are trying to do with this distasteful poem. What OP said is right and conveys exactly what needs to be said to that wannabe poet and whomever agrees with them.
Op, please show this post to your friend and make sure they read the commentary as well!

I KNOW RIGHT?!??!
Tried making Isabela and Monika in a picrew and it was so frustrating not being able to give Monika the glorious bouncy kinks that she deserves. It’s pathetic.
Do better picrew, do better.
Tumblr media
Reblog if you hate picrews with no dark skin options (yes even the ones where the shade of white is even a little darker, and yes ashy tones too bc there SUPER annoying, and the ones with no curly or protective hair like braids)

Remember white women that didn't want to support the BLM protests but are protesting now.
We will be listening to Black and indigenous folks and following their lead first and foremost. They have far more experience here than you.
We will not be cosplaying handmaid's tale or vikings. BLM and Hong Kong protestors taught you what to wear to be safe in a protest and you need protection from teargas, rubber bullets, and facial recognition.
We will not be telling people that's we're going to a protest. All electronic devices stay at home and phones will be in airplane mode, Bluetooth off, in a Faraday bag or Faraday cage.
We will be writing the phone number of a friend or family member we trust and the number for the national lawyer's guild on our body where the cops won't see it.
We will not be saying shit like "You thought BLM protests were bad." That's hella invalidating to the work Black people did for their rights.
We will not be touching the random pallets of bricks that'll magical appear. We will not look at them. We will not go near them. We will pretend like they don't exist.
We will be bringing first aid kits and plenty of water.
We will stay safe.
If we are arrested we are only going to say "I'm utilizing my right to remain silent without my lawyer present." And NOTHING ELSE. DON'T SAY A GODDAMN WORD UNTIL YOUR LAWYER GET THERE. I DON'T CARE IF THEY ASK YOUR FAVORITE ICE CREAM FLAVOR. DON'T SAY A GODDAMN WORD.

The best way you can treat your neurodivergent friends is give them space to rant about their special interest/hyperfixation and ask genuine questions about it.
I've never had space to share my special interest. My friends either think I'm either being pretentious or they think "Oh that's smart people stuff. There's no way you know about that. If you really knew about that you'd be a tenured professor at Harvard." (And I'm not going to share what it is on here because I don't want to seem pretentious)
But my friend's younger sibling invited me to their discord server. And I'm like "how funny would it be if i made this your special interest?", and they were like "I made a channel for you to rant about your special interest" and I was joking but if they want to make room for me to rant? Imma take it.
And they're like genuinely interested. Asking questions. Telling me how cool it is. And how is this teenager able to give me more room to share my special interest and make me feel genuinely validated in my special interest more than any adult has?
If you love you neurodivergent friends. Simply give them space to share their special interest. Dude, it's not that hard and you might end up learning something cool. (Okay, to be fair when I get too excited about shit I have no volume control so I get aggressively loud which is impressive because I'm already ridiculously loud even when I'm not excited).

I know I already made a post about this. But ICWA is LITERALLY being challenged by a white couple that wants to adopt indigenous children to erase their culture and Christianize them. The tribe, whom has a say in who can take their children, is like "Nah, we don't want our youth Christianized like you tride last time"
And the lawyer that's helping the white couple try to overturn ICWA (so that they can erase the cultures of indigenous children) is doing it pro-bono (which means he's not charging the couple anything).
AND that lawyer is a big time lawyer whose clients are usually oil and gas industries. He's literally fighting for indigenous children to be ripped from their tribes and culture so there's less indigenous people to protest big oil destroying their sacred land.

My #1 post of 2022
Public service announcement.
Blue/purple lips and fingernails is a symptom of low oxygen in lighter skin tones.
In darker skin tones you're looking for grey or white lips and fingernails. Other places where this may be not evidence is the tongue and gums.
Figured since everyone gets taught what low oxygen looks like on lighter skin. Everyone should know what it looks like on dark skin too.

Welcome Pinkie (@pinkieloveheartpastel) as the newest member to metalheads!
I personally really like her because she really advocates for allowing Black women have nonstereotypical interests. She's super femme (and super adorable).
Which is just the vibe I like for this blog. (I think she's punk as fuck).

Normally I’d look up something like this but I’m too terrified of the images that would come up to bother so I guess I’ll just take your word for it(so please don’t reblog this with such extreme imagery if you must reblog.).
These are very interesting points you are making.
I never even made the connection between a clown’s Afro and a Black Afro until now and I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Maybe it’s because I was never scared of clowns. well actually i was way back in pre-k but that’s besides the point. But now that I’ve seen it, I can’t unsee it.
Of course, you don’t have to mock Black features to be a clown. But this is too convenient and coincidental to ignore.
You cannot convince me that clowns aren't the remenants of Black Face.
You can't.
"Oh, but the jester."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's a clown and jester side-by-side
What of that clown makes you think of that jester?
You know what that clown does look like? Big shoes. Afro hair. Big lips. Shit, even the style of clothes and hat. All you need is some black paint.
Minstrels.
Look up minstrels and try to tell me if the clown's hair and skin were black, it wouldn't be a striking resemblance. (Oh also the clothes were less bright, but still same outfit.)
Maybe that's why clowns are scary.
It's the past coming to haunt us. It's that feeling of something "not right". It's that reminder of the more sensible of our ancestors saying, "Wait. That's kind of racist." And we don't know how to handle that sense of unease because we don't understand why we're uneasy, and we mistake that for fear?
(PS. Am I allowed to post a mintrel side-by-side with a clown for the sake for this educational post? I don't want to post offensive imagery, but like I really think if you saw the side-by-side you'd see it too. I can add a TW if that helps?)

The meme said unhinged male characters" but I'm confused because you wouldn't call a male character "babygirl" unless it's saying the unhinged male character used the word babygirl?? I'm confused, bestie.
But the term babygirl I think is used more as am honorific in kink settings? And the normalization of using it for just anyone is... weird.
Because casually using phrases like "babygirl" is what leads to situations like adult creators on tiktok having to set boundaries because they don't consent to that dynamic being thrust on them. Or worse, kids using them to address adult creators (you see this a lot like terms like "mommy" or "daddy"). I'm not okay with it being so... casualised? cazualized? Is that a word? Because children that don't understand commitment or consent start using these terms that are used for serious relationships as... casual flirting. And it makes it very uncomfortable for people that see these terms in a serious light.
I get a lot of people calling me "daddy" just to flirt with me and like... you didn't ask and this makes me very uncomfortable.
I think @pinkieloveheartpastel can shed more light on this? If she wants, she doesn't have to.

Oh... um... I actually have some people I want to tag this time.
Start with the obvious @yinx1 and @silentaugur
@reaux07 and their side blog @bfpnola you amaze me. You're legitimately impressive.
@aridara is a long term follower that's been with us since the beginning.
@black-is-beautiful18 is amazing.
@the1312daysofchristmas and @pinkieloveheartpastel are two personal favorites of mine.
@trials-of-a-spirit-worker is also pretty dope.
@ace-with--a-mace is amazing
@dicapitoe is awesome
@genderqueerfogginess is a long time follower that I consistently see doing the petitions and stuff I reblog
And I know I'm missing a lot, but I'm really bad at remembering blog names. Just know if I've reblogged you more than 3 times, I probably follow you and want to put you on this list. 🥺
Honorable mentions.
Anyone that follows the blogs that I give shout outs to. I see you.
The people that send like a dozen asks like "I'm sorry to bother you again". I love you. You're amazing. It shows you want to learn.
The people that have followed me since the beginning. I'm legitimately so different and have learned so much since the beginning. It feels so weird to think there's people out there that saw my fumbling around, trying to get my bearings, trying to learn as much as I could so I could have strong opinions for this blog.
