Cottage garden, California style! Look at that vigorous Climbing Cecile Brunner rose totally engulfing the rustic wood arbor. Isn’t that glorious? The photo was taken on my recent trip to La Jolla, California, but I have seen a Cecile Brunner rose growing up the side of a building at a local nursery here in Austin as well. I am tinkering with the idea of planting this rose in my own garden and let it climb along a fence. What do you think, shall I give it a try? Anyone having experience with growing this rose? Hope you are all having a lovely Sunday! It is too hot for me to be out in the garden today (forecast predicts the highest temperatures to be 95 F/ 31 C) so washing pots and pans it is after I am done with this post and filing some papers later. Two posts ago I published a photo of an English garden with climbing roses grown on a pergola (if you missed it, just scroll back two posts) and for today I found another one in my archives featuring climbing roses growing on tall arches in front of a lovely old house. I think these roses are breathtakingly beautiful! I feel really inspired to find a climbing rose for my own garden here in Austin! That won’t be easy and definitely will involve some research since Austin has a climate that is not exactly known for roses to thrive in, but I will not be deterred! Anybody else in need of some beauty this morning? Maybe this lovely, pink, single flowered, climbing rose trained against a beautiful old brick wall will do? I am a bit slow to start this Monday and the dreary weather doesn’t help but I hope meditation, exercise, and a good realistic to do list that I can manage to finish today will. It’s OK to not always be super motivated, sometimes you have to just plow through the day. But I know that no matter what my starting point is I will feel better once I get going and have achieved something. What are the tricks on your sleeves if your Monday starts a bit blah? Can you imagine staying in this simple English stone cottage on vacation? I totally have fallen for the absolutely beautiful, white, gothic windows, the sumptuous climbing rose with the lovely pink blooms that looks like it is giving the building a hug, and all the lush green surrounding it. Honestly, I have no idea what this charming building is used for in reality but I like to dream! I like to pretend that I could go on vacation to England this year even though all the signs right now say that it is not going to happen. Dreaming keeps me going and helps me to stay positive and optimistic in the grim reality that we are living in now. Can you relate? What are you dreaming about these days?
