Drive Business Success with Premium Auto Insurance Leads
In the competitive world of auto insurance, acquiring high-quality leads is crucial for sustained growth and success. Premium auto insurance leads offer a strategic advantage, providing businesses with targeted, motivated prospects. By investing in the best auto insurance leads, companies can optimize their marketing efforts, increase conversion rates, and ultimately boost revenue.
The Importance of Quality Auto Insurance Leads
Understanding the Value of Premium Leads
The auto insurance market is saturated with providers vying for customers' attention. To stand out, businesses need to focus on acquiring premium leads—prospects who are actively seeking auto insurance and are ready to make a purchase decision. These high-intent leads can significantly reduce the time and effort spent on cold calling and chasing uninterested prospects.
The Impact on Conversion Rates
Utilizing the Best Auto Insurance Leads ensures that your sales team spends their time and resources on prospects with a higher likelihood of conversion. This not only improves the efficiency of your sales process but also enhances the overall customer experience, leading to higher satisfaction rates and better retention.
Strategies to Acquire Premium Auto Insurance Leads
Leveraging Advanced Data Analytics
To acquire the best auto insurance leads, businesses must leverage advanced data analytics tools. These tools can analyze vast amounts of data to identify patterns and trends, helping you to target prospects more effectively. By understanding the demographics, behaviors, and preferences of your ideal customers, you can tailor your marketing strategies to attract high-quality leads.
Utilizing Multi-Channel Marketing
Diversifying your marketing efforts across multiple channels can increase your reach and visibility. Utilize digital marketing techniques such as search engine optimization (SEO), pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, social media marketing, and email campaigns. By maintaining a strong presence on various platforms, you can capture the attention of potential customers wherever they are.
Building Strategic Partnerships
Partnering with complementary businesses can also help in acquiring premium auto insurance leads. For instance, collaborating with car dealerships, repair shops, or financial advisors can provide access to a pool of potential customers who are already in need of auto insurance services. These partnerships can create a steady stream of high-quality leads.
Maximizing the Value of Your Leads
Implementing a Robust Lead Management System
To fully capitalize on the best auto insurance leads, it’s essential to have a robust lead management system in place. This system should track and manage leads throughout the sales funnel, ensuring that no opportunity is missed. Automated follow-ups, personalized communication, and detailed analytics can help in nurturing leads and converting them into loyal customers.
Training and Empowering Your Sales Team
A well-trained sales team is crucial for effectively handling premium auto insurance leads. Continuous training programs should focus on improving communication skills, product knowledge, and customer relationship management. Empower your team with the tools and resources they need to succeed, such as CRM software and sales automation tools.
Personalizing the Customer Experience
In today's market, personalization is key to winning over customers. Use the data collected from your leads to offer personalized solutions that meet their specific needs. Tailored quotes, customized policy options, and targeted marketing messages can enhance the customer experience and increase the likelihood of conversion.
Measuring Success and Adjusting Strategies
Analyzing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Regularly analyze KPIs such as conversion rates, cost per lead, and customer acquisition costs to measure the success of your lead generation efforts. These metrics can provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of your strategies and highlight areas for improvement.
Adjusting Your Approach
The auto insurance market is dynamic, and consumer preferences can change rapidly. Stay agile by continuously reviewing and adjusting your lead generation strategies based on the latest market trends and customer feedback. This proactive approach ensures that you remain competitive and continue to attract the best auto insurance leads.

Barbara Gordon's Coding & Computer Cram School is a popular YouTube series. Tucker Foley is a star student.
Barbara Gordon's Cram School posts free online courses for both coding and computer engineering. Think Crash Course in terms of entertainment, but college lecture in terms of depth. Hundreds of thousands of viewers flock to it— students who missed a class, people looking to add new skills to a resume, even simple hobbyists. It’s a project Barbara’s proud of.
Sometimes, when she wants to relax, she’ll even hop in the comments and spend an afternoon troubleshooting a viewer’s project with them.
User “Fryer-Tuck” has especially interesting ones. Barbara finds herself seeking out his comments, checking in on whatever this crazy kid is making next. An app for collecting GPS pings and assembling them on a map in real-time, an algorithm that connects geographic points to predict something’s movement taking a hundred other variables into account, simplified versions of incredibly complex homemade programs so they can run on incredibly limited CPU’s.
(Barbara wants to buy the kid a PC. It seems he’s got natural talent, but he keeps making reference to a PDA. Talk about 90’s! This guy’s hardware probably predates his birth.)
She chats with him more and more, switching to less public PM threads, and eventually, he opens up. His latest project, though, is not something Barbara has personal experience with.
FT: so if you found, hypothetically, a mysterious glowing substance that affects tech in weird and wacky ways that could totally have potential but might be vaguely sentient/otherworldly…. what would you do and how would you experiment with it. safely, of course. and hypothetically
BG: I’d make sure all my tests were in disposable devices and quarantined programs to keep it from infecting my important stuff. Dare I ask… how weird and wacky is it?
FT: uhhh. theoretically, a person composed of this substance once used it to enter a video game. like physical body, into the computer, onto the screen? moving around and talking and fighting enemies within the game?
FT: its been experimented with before, but not on any tech with a brain. just basic shields and blasters and stuff, its an energy source. also was put in a car once
FT: i wanna see how it affects software, yk? bc i already know it can. mess around and see how far i can push it
BG: […]
FT: … barbara?
BG: Sorry, thinking. Would you mind sharing more details? You said “blasters?”
Honestly. Kid genius with access to some truly wacky materials and even wackier weapons, she needs to start a file on him before he full sends to either hero or villain.
[OR: Tucker is a self-taught hacker, but if he were to credit a teacher, he'd name Barbara Gordon's Coding & Computer Cram School! He's even caught the attention of Dr. Gordon herself. She's full of sage advice, and with how she preaches the value of a good VPN, he's sure she's not pro-government. Maybe she'll help him as he studies the many applications of ecto-tech!]
#she does end up sending tucker a PC lol#and after she learns he has experience supporting a superhero team maybe pushes his name forward to WEs outreach program for r&d potentials#picks him up by the scruff and says MY coding buddy#also fun fact she had a phd in library science at one point. i like that about her i think we should talk about it a little more#also tucker was making a ghost reporting & tracking app for amity parkers#dpxdc#dcxdp#barbara gordon#tucker foley#prompt#kipwrite

hiya! i love your posts on tech & the way you phrase things is so easy to understand. i'm curious if you'd be willing to talk more about turning off location data-- is is better than nothing to do that and then turn it back on for maps, or at that point does it not matter? & do you have any tips for relying less on digital maps?
I think it's worthwhile to turn it off completely and then if you have to use a mapping tool, turn it on just for that and turn it off when you're at your destination. That doesn't completely erase a phone's ability to track your location (it's still getting cell tower pings) but it's better than letting every nosy app on your phone know where you are all the time, which you should assume every app wants to do by default.
Honestly one of the ways I rely less on digital maps is by using somewhat different digital maps! OsmAnd is an open-source mapping app (that has some problems, ngl) that I can use both with location turned off and on. If I don't want to deal with the funky search on the app I can search a route in my browser and either screenshot directions or simply look at the map and get an idea of where I'm going.
Personally, I drove *a lot* before mapping software was ubiquitous and my advice to relying on it less is to do that; go places without using mapping software and try to find your way around. Look up locations ahead of time either on a paper map or in your browser and figure out which way streets go and where freeway exits are and which numbers are going to be on the left or the right side of the street at your destination. Once you get into the habit of looking up directions and following them step by step instead of having a phone give them to you in real time, it becomes a lot easier to follow directions. Once you're more used to looking at maps, you'll find that it's a lot easier than it used to be to plan most of a route on your own. Once you've gotten pretty familiar with an area you'll find that you need directions for a lot less of your journey than you used to, and that you will likely be able to navigate the area you're comfortable with without a map.
Now, that's not universally true - some people have significant problems with cardinal directions and map reading the same way that I have left-right confusion and can't read clocks; it happens, not everyone can do everything. But by trying to do it at least a little bit sometimes you're likely to be a lot more comfortable in situations where you *can't* use a map, like if your phone dies or if there's an emergency that takes out the data network.

I have to ask: what is your writing/editing process like? You have absolutely spoiled me rotten with the frequency of your updates. Just about every 2-4 days, I get that ping on my inbox from you. That sort of frequency would lead me to suspect short chaps or maybe disjointed and riddled with errors but you are posting QUALITY, LENGTHY installments consistently, and I'm just in awe. Do you just word vomit onto an empty page in one sitting? Do you break it up? Do you edit as you go or at the end, all together? Just anything about your process, if you don't mind sharing, would be great to hear!
Oh, huh, no one has ever asked me that before. This is about how it goes:
First, I use a note-taking software to organize all my ideas and plot threads. I use MS OneNote because I already use it for work so I'm used to it, and I can have it synced between my phone and my laptop (I write on both), but I highly recommend using something like it. I say this not because I am an organized person, but because I am very disorganized and things will quickly descend into chaos without something to maintain order. I have about 50 tabs right now for 'Lucifer' and they contain everything from a single cool line that hit me at 3am (write it DOWN, you will not remember it in the morning, that's the devil talking) to complete outlines of upcoming stories. When I’m finished with a tab I dump it into another folder because I am allergic to deleting anything.
It looks like this:
When I go to use whatever is in a tab, I copy and paste it into a document, and then I write what I guess is the first draft. Just go at it like a monkey on crack trying to get everything that needs to be in the chapter on paper. It doesn’t need to be perfect, I'm just trying to get the shape of it down, with the occasional runaway tangent.
After the basic bones of the story are down, next is the second draft or as I mentally call it ‘jazzing it up.’ That's when I go back and fix things like the ten paragraphs of dialogue with no indication of who is speaking. Depending on how it's going, I might go through the jazz routine once or several times. I was struggling with the last chapter, it took a few attempts before I finally deleted a segment and then it clicked and I was able to get it where I wanted it to go.
Once I'm happy with the story, I use the Read function in my writing program to read the entire thing to me. It's seriously the best way to catch mistakes or odd phrasing, eyes miss things after reading it so many times, ears are a fresh sense and they catch the missing words and strange turns.
That's about it. I sound weird when it's all down like this. 😂

Steinway and His Sons: Chapter 1 ~ I Love Laufey
Masterlist Series Masterlist
♫ Song ~ Beautiful Stranger by Laufey
Stepping out of the small, fairly run down sedan, you grab a small decorated tip jar and your bag and head for the entrance to the bistro, quite frankly a bit nervous, though you've done this before. You reach out a shaky hand, grabbing the handle of the door to the establishment. Immediately there to greet you is the owner, shaking your hand. "Y/N! It's great to finally see you in person. I already have a piano set up in the corner over there," she explains, pointing. "I made sure to leave space as you requested!" Thanking her, you walk over to the area, placing the tip jar on the small table provided and setting you bag on the ground beside it.
You soon hear the *ping* of the door bell, looking over to see Maki walk in, bass encased in the bag hanging on her shoulder. "Hey Maki! Any idea when Yuuji is going to be getting here?" you ask, checking your watch. He has 5 minutes. "Haven't heard anything," Maki replies, setting her small amp on the ground. She slides the bass off her shoulder, unzipping the case to release the sleek, black instrument. "Alright, well I guess I'll text him. Let me know if you need any help setting up." Saying that, you pull out your phone from your back pocket, pulling up Yuuji's contact.
"Yuuji's here. I'm going to go help him unpack all his stuff," I tell Maki, leaving to find Yuuji.
Once you get to his car, you grab a couple drums and a stool, bringing them back into the restaurant. Quickly, you and Yuuji set up his drums, leaving you around 15 minutes before your scheduled start time. "Hey, I'm gonna go use the bathroom real quick before we start," you inform the group. You grab you phone, heading to the bathroom. On the way there, you catch a glimpse of Nobara, an old highschool friend, walking through the door. You immediately turn you head and walk quicker towards the restroom, sighing in relief once you get behind the door.
Heading back to the small stage, you keep your eyes forwards to avoid eye contact with Nobara or her friends. You could not afford to start worrying again after finally being able to compose yourself.
Sitting down on the small bench in front of the piano, you give a small greeting to those in the bistro. Then, you play the opening chords to the first song in the set.
♫ Ino definitely doesn't want to just be friends with y/n ♫ When he saw her pass by when he walked in with Nobara he thought she was SO pretty ♫ He was so surprised (and happy) when she turned out to be the girl they came to see ♫ There's definitely a lil smth going on between Megumi and Nobara but they're both denying it :')

Eggtober 23rd 2023
"Spill my Guts" Omurice
(Clip Studio Paint, Gouache Brush. 15 colors, 30 minutes.) Confession time. The reason my sleep schedule is messed up and the reason my egg is late isn't a mystery. I got Minecraft recently. I am very new to it but it's consuming my free time. I am obsessed with playing, essentially, "Lego" with rules. Yes, there is not much "game" to the cube game. Yes, I love it anyway. I like keeping stupid idiot Squidward-lookalikes employed and alive and making silly little barns and goofy little dirt shacks and then spending way too long making a castle only to go "No, actually, it needs a bigger tower here and oh shit oh fuck, too big oh CRAP." and then dying 101 times mining diorite and then trying to rescue my gear because I am bad at the cube game made for kids.
Confession 2. I prefer Bedrock to Java purely because the render distance makes sense to me and the fog of war thing to prevent the game from trying to render everything in Java makes it very hard for me to grasp where I am. I can navigate my little splattering of world I've explored much better in Bedrock than any world in Java, even with the settings turned all the way up. I am a landmark navigator, maps are only so much help. Confession 3. My need to play Bedrock is the reason my bae's computer got fucky wucky because they tried to join me on PC rather than bedrock for Switch so they could type to talk instead of always having to be in VC and possibly disturb the household and Microsoft is being a little bitch saying "you don't own this game" or "you do own this game but we're not letting you install for some reason" and in an effort to get it to install, they did a software update and got bluescreen bootlocked.
So to sum up: Minecraft has ruined my time management, my sleep schedule, my egg schedule, and my partner's SSD. Minecraft is cursed and yet as soon as I am done posting, I am going to load up Bedrock and work on my silly little ginormous castle.
Hopefully @lady-quen's breadbugs like ketchup! Smacking @quezify with a ping for this egg and also an open invite that if he ever decides to get into games that aren't Peggle, he has an open invitation to hit me up on Minecraft Bedrock. (Invite applies to anyone who knows me on Discord by the way.)
Love the garbage baby cube game. 10/10, would waste my life on that.

Birdie (one)
This is an original work I wrote back in 2022 before I got into Call of Duty. Birdie is a former corporate software developer now living in a megabuilding inspired by the ones we see in the video game Cyberpunk 2077. This world is in transition, not quite post-corporate but on its way there. This is a story about Birdie falling into bed with the couple who moves in next door, and learning to trust other people again after enduring enormous personal betrayal. - cw: implications of stalking.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/354c32587159049fe398527d1dca9d80/5d0b059960de8e51-33/s540x810/afc7f5538e3c8f595007a210bbfff691968a6580.jpg)
Birdie woke late in the morning to sunlight peeking through the cracks of her blinds and the smell of coffee gently percolating over in the kitchenette. It was a cool morning, silvery, the kind one wanted to luxuriate in and pretend noon would never come. Except—
Ping…ping…ping…
The soft chiming of her front door’s proximity alert was out of place.
She blinked groggily, swimming her legs through the tangle of blanket and sheets that she’d made a nest of in the night, and inchwormed her way to the edge of the mattress.
Half the pile slithered off the bed to puddle on the floor as her feet met the cool tile, which was spotless thanks to the vacuum-bot that had done its work during the night. She took a thin, reclaimed-fiber robe off its hook on the thin sliver of wall between the window and bed, and wrapped it around herself as she plodded, still half-asleep, in the direction of the chime.
Ping…ping…ping…
Birdie usually didn’t bring up her internal heads-up display until after her coffee, but the chime couldn’t be turned off without it. Safer that way—no one could tamper with it if they were of a mind to without hardwiring directly into her neural software. She flicked her index fingers upward in synchrony, and the translucent home screen slid in across her vision.
It was a simple interface—UI elements in soft white with simple drop shadows to contrast them against the real world they overlaid. Birdie could access the intranet, check her mail, keep track of her finances, and monitor her daily task lists as work orders came in; things people used to do on tablets or laptops, before integrated hard- and software became standard in the corporate era.
Ping…ping…ping…
No one was at the door—Birdie had set separate chimes for packages versus people. So she angled the bell camera downwards, seeking the parcel she expected to see—and scowled the moment she saw what it was.
Ping…ping…ping…
With an angry gesture she shut off the alert, with another opened the door, but no gesture in her software was going to make the big, sparkling crystal vase, stuffed to the gills with bright red roses, suddenly grow legs and run away.
A pink envelope was filed between two of the fattest blooms. Birdie bent at the waist, indignation traveling down her brain stem and hijacking her nerve endings, and plucked it from the bouquet. With one fingernail she broke the seal—real paper! Dyed paper! The audacity!—and as if disarming a bomb, she removed the folded stationery from within.
The ivory white, virgin sheet had obviously been recently manufactured, not pressed and cut from reclaimed pulp like any reasonable person would use these days. And, to add insult to injury, there was only one—one!—line of handwriting in the very middle.
I’m sorry, Margie. I still love you.

🔥Sinful Sunday🔥
💋Voters choice💋The Eden Club
Chapter 4: ^soFtWArE inStABiLity^
Fandom: Detroit become human
Ships: Honnor, Hankvin, Convin, eventual Hank/Connor/Gavin, Connor/V (android OC)
Rating: Explicit (Kamski dubcon consent warning from this point forward)
Tags: Prostitution AU, Post Revolution-Hostile Public Opinion, Undercover Androids, Connor's first night, Gavin/Hank backstory, plot consistent angst but the gayer universe, mutual pining, light BDSM, angst with a happy ending
Summary:
It's after 9 and the club is starting to fill. Connor finds his room and collects himself before lowering the frost modification on the glass.
The newly renovated rooms themselves were a luxury combination of the tubes and a private room. In abstract, it actually reminded Connor more of a human zoo. ¾ of his space resembled the private bedrooms from before but with a huge wall of glass that separated him from the club floor.
Connor was of course welcome to walk around the club at any time or work the floor, but he actually appreciated the distance between himself and the clientele. At least at first. After that last interaction with Kamski, he felt like he needed a bath. His synthetic skin was still crawling.
The first few rentals were nothing to write home about. They were all human males in their late 50s who didn't even want Connor to talk or look at them. Rented him for the bare minimum time, finished in a fraction of that, and then left without so much as a goodbye. It gave him the impression they actually would have preferred if he was a nameless, faceless, sexbot. It was uncomfortable, impersonal, and 4 different levels of gross. He understood more of Emily's anger and frustrations at some of the clientele prior to the revolution. Not that much has changed evidently.
Connor took a little time between clients after that. There weren't that many people here right now, and there were plenty of other dancers working. One woman had caught his eye upon arriving, but she had made herself scarce since.
1 SMS Message
You're working fucking nights? 9:43:55 PM
The text message and underlying hostility from Hank caught him off guard. He blinked twice before sending his reply.
Yes. I asked my boss to align my schedule close to yours so we could have the most amount of time off together. 9:44:13 PM
Another dirty rotten lie. He can feel his Software Instability meter screaming in the background. He didn't even know that protocol ran anymore. He hadn't seen it since his deviation, but it probably wasn’t a good thing it had pinged 5 times in the last 24 hours right?
Hank’s next text comes in four minutes later.
Won’t it be lonely though? I mean is anyone even at the office with you? 9:48:56 PM

RIP FF.net: How to save your favourite fic as an epub.
So since FF.net seems to have been shut down, I’ve seen a lot of posts about backing up your favourite fics.
Just a quick FYI, m.fanfiction.net still works, for now. FF.net bookmarks on AO3 also seem to work. But get in quick to save your favourite fics because who knows how much longer those links will last.
EDIT: @kagenoneko has helpfully let me know that FF.net is not gone; to access the desktop version of the site all you need to do is add www. before fanfiction.net. So “www.fanfiction.net” instead of just “fanfiction.net”.
Now, the quickest and easiest way is to use AO3′s download epub option.
But if you’re like me and you don’t like how the file is organized/laid out (theres no cover!), or you love a fic on a site that doesn’t have that option coughcoughLiveJournalcoughcough then heres some guy’s guide on how to turn your favourite fics into epubs.
First of all, a download list:
Calibre (yeah, you can convert files to epubs online, but Calibre lets you customise the e-book metadata that your device uses to organize files.)
Firefox add-on “Absolute Enable Right Click & Copy” (Don’t use Firefox? Google “Download Firefox”)
Microsoft Word or LibreOffice (LO is free and just as good as MW!)
But wait, random guy on the internet! What is the add-on for? Well, FF.net thinks it can stop you from highlighting and C&Ping text. FF.net is wrong.
Anyway.
Now that you’ve got your software, go ahead and C&P the fic into MW or LO. I recommend adding a page before the fic with some general information. This helps you remember all that useful information on the fic page. Below is what my first page looks like:
(Am I using a Naruto fic for this guide? Yes, yes I am. I’ve reached a point in my life where I have no dignity and no shame.)
Save that bad boy to your documents. Do not change the fic, remember it isn’t your work!
Now, open up Calibre.
Go to “add books” in the top left corner. Calibre accepts .doc, .docx, and .odt (LO’s file extension).
Now, at this point, the information boxes should be empty of everything except the title and, maybe, the author. If the author is wrong, chill, MW and LO sometimes save you as the author. Just change it to the correct author.
Anyway, now you get the fun fun job of reopening the fic page if you closed it. (Or, if you’re smarter than I was when I was figuring this out, you left it open. Go you!) Go over one button from “add books” (Or hit that right mouse button and go to “Edit metadata” then “Edit metadata individually”).
Most, if not all, of the information you need should be on the fic page. Some sites, like LiveJournal, will not have a lot of info, so you might need to wing it. You will need to create your own cover if you want one (look at my quickly thrown together one, they don’t need to be perfect. Mine has just enough info for me to know what fandom the fic is from).
The comment section isn’t very important, whatever you add there doesn’t show on the epub. I personally like to had the quick summery from the info page mentioned above.
Once you’re happy with the information you’ve added, hit “ok”. The row should look something like this (give or take whatever columns you have (I’ve personally removed some)):
Still happy with the info? Sweet! Time to move on to converting the file. Two buttons over from “add books” is “convert books”. Clicky.
One final chance to be really REALLY sure you’re happy with the info added, double check that the outcome format is epub (pdf is also there if you want it, but for e-books, epub is best. Reading something made of images like manga? I suggest pdf. But I also suggest a different program for pdfs.)
Still happy? Yay! Click “ok”. In the lower right corner, an arrow will appear over “Jobs: 1″. You can click “Jobs” if you want, but the conversion should only take a few seconds. If you click it, you’ll get this pop up:
Hide your old jobs if you want, its not overly important. I do it to stop the list looking to busy.
Once your file is converted, it’ll be saved where ever you stuck your Calibre file. Mines in a book file where I keep my ever growing collection of epubs and manga pdfs.
Upload that bitch to whatever your device is, however you upload files to your device. Personally, I rename the file to “Author - Fic Name” then drag and drop it into books on iTunes.
And boom:
You can also now change the settings to your preferred reading settings.
Now, enjoy your fic without worrying about it being deleted, or the site its uploaded to going down.

Hi dear, you haven't exactly reblogged this but I liked a few questions from the 'Know your writer' meme and decided to ask you, feel free to ignore me 😘
18. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?
26. Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?
Hey no problem - my ask box is always open to you, I could never ignore ♥️♥️ Thank you for the message ❤️❤️
18. It really depends. On very few occasions I know the title before I even start properly writing. This is very rare. Mostly, it's a last minute thing, long after I've finished, edited, tagged, etc. the fic – I spend some time dicking around on the Internet looking for quotes or song lyrics or relevant concepts because I can't post a fic to AO3 if it doesn't have a title.
26. Another tough one! My "writing process" involves a lot of ping-ponging between "oh this sounds awesome! I'm a genius" to "this fucking sucks, who dared let me near word processing software." One I can think of off the top of my head that you've read would be Da-ge's Midlife Crisis Boyfriend

It’s been You.
Part one.
Chapter info!; Stalker!Rhys || Hinted Rhys/Joe. || Some hinted Kate/Joe. || Insinuated lewd acts. || Rhys is real.
Chapter summary; The stalker gets stalked with far more polished tactics. Although today would be the day the stalker willingly reveals themselves through a generous gift, one that was oh so carefully curated.
ao3 post !
A familiar app pinged on the American's phone for the 20th time this hour. This was getting annoying. That tedious little 'Evanesce' app seemingly never stopped pinging, uninstalling it was useless as it was burned into his phone's software and getting a new phone wouldn't free him from the app.
"That's class for today. For next week's lecture read and study Desperate Characters by Paula Fox and have something prepared to argue your viewpoints." The American spoke as he leaned back onto his desk, waving his students off as they took their leave. That was an easy lecture, or as easy as it gets if your phone keeps buzzing.
The aforementioned phone was hastily picked up from off the desk and unlocked. Evanescence was quickly opened and the flood of messages he’d missed were appalling. Using an anonymous app to talk in such vulgar and explicit way was one thing, but using one that deletes messages once they’ve been read? Abhorrent. The language used was threatening at best and vaguely promising at worst. Talking so lowly of those he found himself surrounded with, anonymously airing their dirty laundry as though it were going to change anything. One message stood out, however, that was sent around the same time he brought his class to a close.
` I loved your lecture, professor. I’m sure we’ll finally be able to have a conversation face-to-face soon. `
‘I’d rather choke on nails.’
Instead of writing anything back, he just closed the app and turned his phone off. If he didn’t entertain it as he had done for the past few months, maybe the messages would stop. Maybe.
Now with his work day brought to a somewhat pleasant close, Jonathan took it upon himself to take his remaining papers home. Somewhere he could actually focus and not worry about getting watched. Ironic how everything has changed since this move. Besides, he has his eyes on someone right now who lives just opposite himself. Kate. He’d found some strange solace in her over the duration he’d been here as well as found himself to be slowly falling for her.
Finally in his flat, Jonathan locked his door, kicked his shoes off and sat himself down at his desk. His phone had been eerily quiet on his walk home, but he had felt as though he were being closely followed the entire journey. Turning around, though, proved nothing as nobody stood out to him or looked familiar.
The stalker finally gets stalked, with newer and more polished techniques. Ones with no flaws and carefully crafted to be bulletproof.
A pale hand opened his satchel and took out a folder with student work he’d yet to have marked or read over. Once the folder hit the desk, a piece of paper fell out and landed on the floor.
‘What’s this?’
The American placed his satchel down before leaning down to retrieve the paper. It was unusual for such things to happen as the papers were typically bound quite tightly within it.
Although this was different. Turning the page revealed a cryptic message:
` Check your door, I left you a present. <3 `
The American froze as the paper slipped from his grasp and landed back on the floor. How did that paper end up in his folder? How anticipated was this? Against his better judgment, he stood up from the chair and approached the door. He cautiously looked through the peephole, expecting someone to be stood there, however all that was out there was a box wrapped in wrapping paper and topped with a red ribbon bundle on top. There was a small piece of paper also attached, although it was illegible from the distance he stood at.
‘This is the second time I’ve had one of these. It better not be an piece of paper with an address on it. Again.’
The door was briefly opened then closed as the gift was retrieved. The sides of the box still held a little heat as it was probably only put down once he’d shut the door behind him. Weird.
The note on it went as follows;
` I hope you enjoy this gift. I’ve been following you around long enough to finally know what to give you. I admire your taste in literature so I thought I’d buy you a couple books from one of the book shops I followed you into. <3 `
He felt his stomach turn as he read the note. Oh god this was sickening. He hesitatingly flipped the little note over as there was a small arrow indicating to look on to the other side.
` I love your flat, by the way. You should learn to shut your curtains, people can find out quite a lot just from looking through one of your windows at night. Just as I did. `
“What. The. Fuck.” Jonathan uttered, disgusted with this revelation.
Even if this were somewhat similar to his own pattern, he’d never go out his way to be so cryptic and cynical. Nor would he leave ‘gifts’ and say such things.
Jonathan re-approached his desk and placed the gift down. The box felt a little heavy, it was like he’d been given two oversized dictionaries. His hands trembled as he lifted the lid of the box, even after reading that strange tag there was a lingering feeling it would be something else.
His hazel eyes were quickly drawn to the intricate packaging in the box. The box was filled with some interesting packing peanuts and.. Glittery hearts? Aside from that, there were a small pile of books. The one on top was ‘Romeo and Juliet’, an interesting choice. He’d yet to have gotten round to purchasing it or reading it yet, so it was appreciated. Although reluctantly. The second book was a memoir. An autobiography.
A Good Man in a Cruel World.
An encapsulating title. One that said so much yet so little at the same time. The life of an author, a soon-to-be mayor. A very important man.
One that had made a fatal error. The summary on the back used the same language and sentence structure as those disappearing messages and notes. While yes people can mirror someone else’s style in writing, this writing structure was unique in a way nobody could replicate. Not to mention the handwriting, it was distinctive and consistent just as his signature at the bottom of aforementioned summary.
The final items in the box was a new notebook, a fountain pen and some ink in a small cling-filmed glass jar. A sticky note was on top of the notebook. So many notes.
` I thought you might need this. No particular reason why, I just felt as though you may find yourself needing it soon. <3 `
‘Uh-huh.. Did you purposely decide to slip up and give me your own book, Rhys? Or was that a complete accident? No, far too coincidental for an accident. You planned this. You know what you’re doing, you-‘
The American’s internal dialogue was rudely interrupted by his phone buzzing. Another message. Well, three new messages. He picked his phone up off the desk and opened that pesky app.
<<I see you’ve gotten my gift.>>
<<Do you like it?>>
<<I’ve been watching you, so I can only assume you do.>>
<<Did you intentionally give me your own memoir? Or did you think I wouldn’t notice?>>
That was all he wrote before turning his phone off. Maybe that question was a little forward. Or maybe it wasn’t.
Jonathan picked up the two books he’d been gifted and approached his bookshelf, making some space before carefully sliding the books in. The memoir stuck out like a sore thumb in comparison to the darker book covers surrounding it. Such an eyesore.
“I’ll fix it later.” He mumbled to himself as he returned to the box. He took the notebook out and placed it on the edge of the desk, the pen and ink following. Then, he paused.
‘He’s been watching me?’
He brought a hand up to his temple as he furrowed his eyebrows. His fingers then slowly dragged down his face.
‘From where? Where I’m standing you’d barely get a good view of what I’m doing. So where-‘
Those fearful hazel eyes then fell onto the box. They searched every inch of it, looking for something. Then, he noticed it. A small camera hidden between the ribbon bundle.
That was it.
Was the last gift the same?
“Oh you bastard.” Jonathan grumbled. How could he have been so blind in trusting such bizarre gifts?
He was quick to put the lid back on the box before rushing it into the kitchen and binning it. Lid first, of course. He wouldn’t want any more of him recorded right now. He had a bigger issue to deal with, his new darling stalker.
Now returned to his phone, he opened the Evanescence app and was greeted with quite the lengthy message, which read as follows;
<<I gave it to you intentionally. I know you’re not that daft, Jonathan. You’ve got quite the eye for detail. I’ve noticed that actually, although you do seem miss quite dire directions in people and misconstrued their intentions. Like Malcolm, for example. You clearly believed he had ill intent on the basis he had a differing opinion on your heartbreak, Marianne was it? What happened to Malcolm, Jonathan? You were the last person seen with him. Back on topic, I have no reason to pry into what happened to such a lowlife. If you open my memoir, I’ve left you another gift. Take it as you will. Although I’m sure you’ll have quite a bit to say on it.>>
‘The memoir? What did he put in that memoir?’
Jonathan placed his phone back down onto the desk as he headed back over to the bookshelf. He hesitantly reached out for the book, dreading what ‘gift’ he’d been given now. What next? Another address? Another written note? Once his hand wrapped around the cover, he pulled it out and allowed it to fall into his other hand.
‘I dread to know..’
He stared at the cover before closing his eyes, a sigh passing his lips as he opened the cover. Something fell to the floor, crinkling as it did so. The sudden sound shook his eyes open as they darted to the source of the sound.
‘Oh my god. What the actual fuck?’

TRANSMITTERS.
Inspired by the above image, which was accessible on the band's website prior to the album being released and for some time after. This was an interactive image; tuning the knob on the right to different frequencies caused different short videos, the 'transmissions' shorts, to play in the screen of the device. This device does not appear in the music videos (or anywhere else for that matter.)
Most of the transmissions have been archived [here]; tw for flashing images. As well, while there are no direct scares, some of the audios are loud and/or jarring, and the vibes of several of the shorts can be a little disconcerting.
When it came to fandom, a lot of us started out on twitter (as there were official accounts of characters from the world of Danger Days already found there, run by various members of the band(?) and other creatives responsible for the killjoys universe) and thus in-character posts were restricted to 140 characters. We mostly did dialogue-only interactions and pictures. This, naturally, begged the question – how were the characters communicating this way, through 'voice' and images? We latched onto the transmitter as the obvious answer, and the idea of transmitters and practice of talking-only interactions stuck across the years even as writers moved to other websites and forums in order to do longer writing.
In universe, the transmitter is the smartphone of Battery City and the zones. It can connect to other transmitters, receive public broadcasts and informational text files, and store information. The amount of storage space, of course, depends on the model. There is also a means of determining a device's location, and sending the information to other devices; luckily for killjoys, it's not a constant ping like a phone tower, and doesn't transmit this information by default - it must be generated and relayed. They function largely on radio signals, but can be connected to and communicate with other computers/systems via a wired connection. All transmitters broadcast and receive audio. All transmitters are capable of displaying images and video. Most are capable of saving recorded audio. Some have cameras, but it's not common in the zones (generally speaking, killjoys are a little paranoid about cameras.) Some have typing interfaces; those that don't typically have dictation tech, where spoken word can be converted to text.
City versions of transmitters are often limited to some degree. Generally, the more privileged the citizen -the closer to Center City they are- the more options available to them, both as a matter of cost and what BL/ind will permit them to own and have access to. Citizens in the Neon Slums generally have the most limited devices, which are commonly bugged for surveillance as well. Some citizens in the lower city and slum will take their devices to special servicers who check for bugs and remove certain software-based limitations, 'jailbreaking' the devices, but it's dangerous. It technically qualifies as criminal activity. Being caught breaking transmitters or owning one that has been broken can get a person punished or even detained.
Killjoys tend to have a wildly variable range of new and old transmitters, as some are capable of getting their hands on the newest, shiniest works of tech, while others use rejects from the slums or even macgyver transmitters together from parts scavenged from the dumping ground in zone 2 and other scraps from the old world. Unless they're after a locked one on purpose, it's safe to assume every killjoy transmitter is jailbroken. Smart killjoys get their recycled transmitters checked for audio taps and tracking bugs, or learn to recognize the signs and bugs to get rid of them themself. (But really. Contact someone who knows what they're doing, or you might miss the sneaky stuff and bring a world of hurt on yourself. <- Tech vc) Transmitters aren't so necessary in the inner zones, where populations are closer together and news can travel by word of mouth, but are vital in the outer zones to get wind of dangerous weather or animals that might be moving through, as well as to call for help or send word ahead of yourself. Killjoys aren't always the most trusting, not even of each other, but it remains true that the 'joy that tries to lone wolf their way through the zones is likely to be dead sooner rather than later: it's wise to keep connected, even if only to listen.
The popularity and near-universal promise of transmitters is also what makes pirate radio stations so popular. It's the quickest and safest way to spread words that BL/ind doesn't want anyone saying, as the signals get bounced around so much it's hard to say where any of the chatter is coming from. Radio hosts who have tower setups that reach across multiple zones are well-known and often at least vaguely venerated. Striking down a DJ is a black mark on you, and when the city manages to pin them down and take them out, entire swathes of the desert go dark. They fill the silence with music and conversation, keep you connected in a disjointed desert, and bring word of disasters both natural and of the curated Better Living variety. Anything and everything to help zone runners keep running. Dr. Death Defying of the WKIL is the most known and celebrated of the DJs, broadcasting from who-knows-where on the regular, guiding the new kids and the Fab Four alike out of the stickiest messes with crow crews and back to the dust bowl called home. Other recognized broadcasters include DJ Hot Chimp, an elusive and eccentric rabblerouser, and DJ RKO of a station called The Fence, which focuses on helping groups relocate lost members or otherwise learn what happened to them. (Nothing haunts like the question you can't answer.)
Though there is no real way to gauge the size of the device from the only official appearance of it, it seems safe to assume most transmitters are roughly palm-sized, handheld devices. I've taken to mentally comparing them to sony's line of ''watchman'' devices (1982-2000) in terms of approximate size and range of styles.
#c:\\work>dir z:\ wld:bld* //.insp .stdy/#zones 101 now in session#hi if this found its way to you this is purely for me n my friends headcanons and not an assertion of overall actual canon ty ♥
