someone did the math for GP alternates- these are the teams below the ones who were guaranteed spots. the alternates who’ve already received an invite are noted. feds don’t have to invite in order as there are other factors like the team being their country’s only representative (like Pinchuk/Pogorielov), or if they’re a host pick
US seems to be waiting on summer competition results to decide their SkAm host pick. F/D and W/T are the top teams without a Grand Prix
Alternates List -  1-10 Flores/Desyatov Janse van Rensburg/Steffan (NHK) Dupayage/Nabais (GPdF) {Harris/Chan - if they're still skating} Fabbri/Ayer (SCI) Wolfkostin/Tsarevski Soucisse/Firus Tkachenko/Kiliakov (SkAm) Bekker/Hernandez Val/Kazimov Manni/Roethlisberger
11-20 Bashynska/Beaumont Pinchuk/Pogorielov (Finlandia) Yoshida/Morita (NHK) Lagouge/Caffa Nosovitskaya/Nosovitskiy Mazingue/Gaidajenko Grimm/Savitskiy (SCI) Reitan/Majorov Tanaka/Nishiyama (NHK) Simova/Aksenov
21-30 Hensen/Lickers Ramanauskaite/Kizala Terreaux/Perron Gauthier/Thieren Larson/Kapran Dozzi/Papetti Matthaei/Liebers Ignateva/Szemko Nguyen/Giang Karnes/Carr
31-32 Ichilov/Kravchenko Tali/Lafornara

2022 JGP Poland stage 1 entry #48
Junior short dance
Pinchuk/Pogorielov(UKR)
Thoughts: there were parts of this that felt too sexual. But tango being the rhythm dance theme is probably a big part of that. I was worried when this theme was selected anyway. It doesn’t take away from how much these two have affected me lately. They are just so good.
Dovhal/Kulesza(POL)
Thoughts: there is so much sparkle going on in the design on the back of Sofia’s dress. It’s amazing.
Carhart/Horovyi(USA)
Thoughts: and to think I thought I was getting to a place where I liked US dance again.
Junior free dance
Pinchuk/Pogorielov(UKR)
Thoughts: okay, I see Harley now. I didn’t see her the first time I saw this program, but Harley is a very complex character. And I do hate that now she’s being seen as “trendy” because people don’t know what to do with her. She’s not just crazy. But she’s not the traditional kind of intelligent either.
Dovhal/Kulesza(POL)
Thoughts: I think this was my favorite rotational lift of this competition so far.

JGP PGE Solidarity Cup Gdansk Poland ice dance:
We're at JGP #6 out of 7 already! it feels like we just started -
youtube
Darya Grimm/Michail Savitskiy 🇩🇪GER (16/20 yo) one of the strongest teams in the entire jr field this season, they won JGP Linz and are most likely heading to the Final. the style of their choreo packs a lot into their program- it's dense with detail. he's very talented, she's progressed a lot since last season - it's a feat, considering that she's 4 years younger, that she's matching him more closely now
youtube
Pinchuk/Pogorielov 🇺🇦UKR (17/21 yo) they won JGP Istanbul (they were 2nd in both programs but the teams who were 1st in each made mistakes in their other program) and could potentially make the final. have some complex pretzeled lifts where they change position many times
youtube
Sara Kishimoto/Atsuhiko Tamura 🇯🇵JPN (16/19 yo) 4th at JGP Osaka in a crowded field, they're looking to improve levels on their SS and pattern here and medal. they split time between Japan and IAM and have two very clever Romain programs
youtube
Gina Zehnder/Beda Leon Sieber 🇨🇭SUI (18/19 yo) they won bronze at JGP Istanbul - their Yello racecar RD is cute and has some creative choreo. they're doing a lot of side by side skating, they're a bit far apart in hold and working on matching free legs, but they've progressed a lot since their last JGP season in 2021
youtube
Yufei Lin/Zijian Gao 🇨🇳CHN (18/20 yo) their Tchaikovsky ballet FD is lovely- they're a musical team with a lot of potential. they divided the judging panel at JGP Bangkok - half the panel had them 4th in a deep field, while the other half had them in 6th-8th. the pattern in the RD was a trouble spot in their last outing

JGP Istanbul ice dance -one of the lighter fields, especially with the Cypriot team injured and not competing:
youtube
Mariia Pinchuk/Mykyta Pogorielov 🇺🇦 UKR (17/20 yo) they skated a split season last year: were 12th at Junior Worlds and 15th at Senior Europeans. Pinchuk and her mother fled to Austria at the start of the war, and she and Pogorielov train there. they both still have family in Ukraine. they have flair, and at their best, nice skating skills, they hit their key points consistently last season. twizzles were a little less reliable. they're skating a Bon Jovi/Joe Cocker RD and Madonna FD
youtube
Yahli Pederson/Jeffrey Chen 🇺🇸USA (16/21 yo) a newly formed team- she was a solo dancer til recently - i didn't realize she's this young. he skated with Katarina Wolfkostin for 4 seasons, winning a US Jr title and getting 2 senior GP assignments last season. So far, Pedersen/Chen have been 5th in Dallas and won the Lake Placid Jr qualifier. their newness can make them unpredictable, but if they can skate relatively clean they have a strong chance of medaling here. They train at MIDA, and their FD is Phantom, and RD is Queen.
dailymotion
Dana Sabatini-Speciale/Nicholas Buelow 🇨🇦CAN (17/16 yo) this team works with Mitch Islam at Mariposa, so they're probably going through it 😢 they had a JGP last season and were 6th at Jr Nats and 2nd at Next Gen this July. their RD is Jack and Diane and a Stevie Ray Vaughn blues, their FD (at 1:02:45 ⬆️) is Il Postino and Josh Groban. Alexandra Paul was one of their choreographers💔
Tumblr media
they're a sweet team - their big height difference (6'3 and just under 5') makes matching lines a little more challenging, but they do pretty well, and they have a soft flowing quality
youtube
Ambre Perrier Gianesini/Samuel Blanc Klaperman 🇫🇷 FRA (16/16 yo) They were 5th at JGP Linz this past week. their RD is Pointer Sisters, and their FD is to Berlinist
Giulia Isabella Paolino/Andrea Tuba 🇮🇹 ITA (19/20 yo) were 7th at JGP Bangkok
Gina Zehnder/Beda Leon Sieber 🇨🇭SUI (18/19 yo) they have a RD to Yello and Vanessa Paradis. previously skated on the JGP in 2021. 2x National jr champions
Emma Goodstadt/Christian Bennett 🇨🇦 CAN (18/20 yo) she had been on the Next Gen team and had JGP assignments with her previous partner in 2021 and 2022, but he had to stop suddenly for personal reasons. this is a new pairing - they train with Carol Lane. they're skating to B-52's and Black Velvet for the RD and have a James Bond FD. they were 6th at the Lake Placid Jr International and 4th at Next Gen.

2022 JGP Latvia entry #41
Free dance
Vainik/Barshak(GEO)
Thoughts: the dismount out that lift near the end was a little wobbly. But purple looks amazing on Grace.
Pham/Rogers(USA)
Thoughts: Vanessa is divine. But I liked Jonathan’s SP outfit more than this outfit.
Karl/Hoferichter(GER)
Thoughts: In the short dance I liked Kai. But here, Karla really shined.
Pinchuk/Pogorielov(UKR)
Thought: I’m thinking that I’ve seen one too many Harley Quin programs. Because I know the music was from suicide squad but if that’s what Maria and Nikita were going for, then Maria wasn’t giving me Harley AT ALL.

2022 JGP Latvia entry #38
Short dance
Pham/Rogers(USA)
Thoughts: I’m very scared to like them. I was quickly enchanted by Pate/Bye too, thanks to Eva’s looks. But it wasn’t long until Pate/Bye started to lose their shine. And I’m afraid that’s what’s going to happen with these two also. But for right now, we’ll see how this goes.
Taylor/Reina(FIN)
Thoughts: reading their names, I thought this was the first time I’ve seen them. But then when I looked at Urho, he looked so familiar. I need to search my memory some more.
Pinchuk/Pogorielov(UKR)
Thoughts: the back of Maria’s dress. The cutouts. And all her sparkles. She is fucking fabulous.
Slatter/Perez(GBR)
Thoughts: Ashlie. She has a gorgeous smile and I love her hair. But her skirt had these different layers to it. It looked too busy.

2022 Junior worlds entry #21
Free dance
Oliver/Andari(POL) Thoughts:  these two have wonderful chemistry
Galimberti/Mandelli(ITA)
Thoughts: not my favorite outfits but Giorgia is still a love.
Kida/Morita(JPN)
Thoughts: I liked the SP outfits better
Tkachenko/Kiliakov(ISR)
Thoughts: I didn’t get a good look at Liza’s dress until the end. Not feeling it.
Pinchuk/Pogorielov(UKR)
Thoughts: Nikita did well. And I love how his hair looked against the blue.
Bernard/Jochum(FRA)
Thoughts: I didn’t realize Tom would have to compete with the splint on his finger. That’s got to be awkward.
