I really liked your prompts, but I did not know how to put them into one drawing. And even as short comic I did not fit all the aspect I wanted into it, but alas I did not have that much time, so I tried to make it work fdkjjhk

Hope you don't mind me sharing the prompt for context!

Hybrids aren't born hybrids, but rather traits show up as they grow up. They can appear at a pretty wide range of ages, and not all traits show up at once. Stress can delay when they show up, just like any other form of growth. Generally, most traits show up before or during puberty, but they can even turn up as late as early adulthood :).

c!Dream is an Ender Dragon hybrid, though he doesn't know it just yet. It's been a few days since c!Quackity came by, but he's been feeling very strange. Like something's growing out of him.

It all hits at once, and the next moment he's got wings, big claws, sharp teeth, purple fire coming from his mouth and the lava isn't burning him anymore. He barely has time to take this all in before he hears c!Quackity's singsong voice on the other side of the lava, and in a moment his new instincts take over, ready for revenge.

Several fandoms are running "gatcha for gaza" charity events, wherein artists and writers sign up, and then people donate x amount of money to submit a prompt that will be done by them. $5 for a sfw sketch/drabble $10 for nsfw, or that ballpark. I donated a bit, under the knowledge that it was a gamble and I may never see anything of it, but hey it's for a good cause, and the donations went straight to charity, no middle man.

But now I'm watching in slight concern. Like, I'd assume anyone donating is in a similar spirit and knows they may never see a fanwork, but. Of the two I'm following, one has only 10 of ~200 prompts filled with a fast approaching "deadline", and the other has 90 something unclaimed prompts (no artists or writers want to do them) (mostly art, sounds like they're good on a writer front) and is calling for pinchhitters for those.

And like, it's a good thing they're trying to do, and nitpicking the organization of those in charge isn't helpful. Been given the quantity of fandoms I've seen hopping on this train and making these things, I am worried. I'd hope people stay in the spirit and don't backlash because their five bucks didn't get them the doodle they were promised/fully rendered art/fic or unreasonable expectations. But I've seen fandom stuff implode over less.

This is an exchange event. We accept fanfics, fanart, and gifsets/Moodboards.

How This Works:

1. To join the Secret Starker Valentines Event, please sign up using the form below.

You will be asked to provide 3 prompts to be given to another participant who will be chosen to create content for you. (These prompts can be as generalized or as detailed as you want but please keep in mind that someone else will be creating a gift for you so being too general or too specific may cause difficulties)

2. Once the form is closed, each participant will be given the prompts for another participant.

Only one work is needed to complete this event so you may choose 1/3 of the prompts.

3. During the duration of the event, the mods will reach out twice before the due date. These check-ins are just to check the progress. You do not need to be done with your gift when we send these check-in messages 🎁

4. Due Date: Your gift is officially due on this date.

ToT I know I said I was hoping to finish Renji 11 this week, but I ended up not having much writing time. Of the 3.5 scenes remaining, I did not finish any scenes at all--not even the 0.5, because that 0.5 scene is exactly as difficult as I thought it was going to be.

Kensei wants something from Renji, but wants it without having to explain to Renji why he wants it, what it is, or why he wants it from Renji, specifically. Which is a tall order, exacerbated by the fact that Renji does not actually care about any of this, so has absolutely zero skin in the game re: the great Muguruma Mystery. He's narrating POV, but he has no incentive to investigate/try to pry any of this information out of Kensei!

I’ve managed to get Renji to realize that Kensei EXPECTS him to care about something, but his reaction was just “lol I don’t tho??” so I dunno that that’s the in I was hoping for, especially since I still don’t think the scene/realization actually makes much sense to begin with.

I think maybe my way out of this is finding a way to convey that Kensei doesn't know who Renji is, so is just throwing out ways of interacting with him based on various typecasts of Renji until he finds something that gets him what he wants. And Renji, at some point, Yes Ands him because it is easier than being responsible, which he's had to be altogether too much of recently.

Because god hates me, I got to have a Round 2 with gift fanworks this week, too. We had a participant who missed the deadline and wasn’t great at communication. And yes, we should have just stopped it then and gotten a pinchhitter set up right off, a month ago. But they had extenuating personal circumstances and promised they were almost done, they were gonna finish! So we kept trusting them up until we needed a pinchhit within 24 hours. 🙃

Which had to be me, because despite having a lot of pinchhit volunteers, 24 hours is a rude amount of time to ask for as a turnaround—but more importantly, our pinchhitters were either all writers or in the process of selling their parents’ house, and the prompter asked for art. (Another rules adjustment for next year is going to be requiring at least one fanfic prompt! Because the writer:artist ratio in that fandom is veryyyy writing-skewed!) So I was like, great, great, I guess it is already time to make another gift for someone, but this time in a medium I do not identify with! Even greater opportunity to make something the giftee really loves, as they always do!!!

I enjoyed the creative process (which involved modgepodge and acrylics and tearing up paper and actual halftone—so many textures!) and my take on the prompt. At the same time, I know for sure it’s not the style the giftee really wanted. Which, like, yeah, you can’t and shouldn’t expect to choose someone’s art style, unless you’re paying to commission a specific artist! But also I happen to already know that this specific person is kind of…. hahahaha, yeah. So I’ve really set myself up for success and feelgood here.
