my favorite thing about dr. pimple popper is how she always encourages the people to like play with their lipomas and cysts and stuff once they're removed. and the people love doing that way more than you would expect. the pure joy in some of these people's faces as they poke some grey goop that just came out of their leg with a tongue depressor is just incredible to behold

Fans say the juicy lipoma looks like canned peaches, an orange segment, or a mango slice.
Lipomas are fatty masses situated between the skin and muscle, and are often soft and doughy to the touch.
It’s a juicy one! In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple…

Sooo, mom told sis about the lipoma on my shoulder and that i have an appt to get it looked at and possibly removed. Her reaction:
"CAN I GO WITH HER AND WATCH THEM REMOVE IT?! It'llbe like live Dr. Pimple Popper!""
Me: "It's a tumor! Not a zit or cyst!"

Day 16 - Spring ‘21 challenge
30th March 2021
Today I have definitely lost track of what day it is in my challenge!
Have you ever got to a point in the day when you think you’re done, the to-do list is finished and then, maybe a wee while later, you realise you’ve forgotten something important? Today is like that for me. I’m always saying that if something is in my notes, on a to-do list, then it’ll get remembered and therefore done. Well I got through all of my ticks today, was heading to bed and then remembered I hadn’t written this blog - oopsie! Somehow the day has flown by, yet again, and time has run away with me.
Today’s juices: Protein Rich powerhouse Apple, spinach, pineapple, cucumber, lime, broccoli stem, pea pods blended with avocado, hemp protein powder & mixed seeds Energy explosion Pineapple, apple, carrots, spinach, kale, broccoli stem, lemon
A few weeks ago I noticed a lump on my side towards my back. It was just suddenly there one night when I was getting ready for bed and It totally freaked me out. I’d never felt anything like it before and it was really sticking out. It was towards the end of the week and I wasn’t free to go to the docs, even if they had an appointment so I left it and tried not to Worry about It. Now, as soon you tell yourself not to worry about something, what do you do? WORRY! It wasn’t painful, it was softish but not squidgy and didn’t move. Eventually I told my mum who advised me to phone my surgery for an appointment at the beginning of the week so as the retired nurse, I followed her advice!
I felt odd phoning up the GP as I’ve been purposefully avoiding being anywhere near it since coming off my meds without telling them in jan 2018. It wasn’t that I was regretting it or feeling bad about it but that they might try to convince me to go back on them - for my own good. But I had a handle of everything now, I was much better without them messing up my hormones anymore.
Ok so long story short, turns out it’s a lipoma - a benign tumour made of fat tissue. I had heard of them before - seeing them on Dr Pimple Popper (yes, my guilty pleasure that programme!) - but tbh didn’t know enough about them or why they appear. So the doc was very impressed that I’d changed my lifestyle and had lost 2 stone and said that it as more than likely that this lipoma had been there for years without knowing it, growing and growing inside me but deep under the surface. He also said that we all have one somewhere on our bodies - they can be as small as a pea and never detected or they can grow out of exposed areas - nobody knows why. Mine is only becoming visible now because I have clearly lost fat tissue from above that area, exposing it as I lose weight. He hadn’t seen one this big before But he also didn’t reckon it would impact my life that much. However, it’s not up to him to decide whether it impacts my life too much, I don’t like it therefore I want it removed. Problem is, no elective surgeries are happening just now so I need to be patient. He also reckons that any surgeon would also want me to show some more significant weight loss or reaching my target before they’d consider how much of the area to cut into etc. Fair enough!
This also brings me to a good point where I can bring up another bodily weirdity - my unicorn horn! Well, that’s what me & Kev call it anyway. I have various sizes of sebaceous cysts on my scalp - have felt them for as long as I can remember but in 2016, one at the front of my head started growing right in the middle of my parting - so that had to change quickly! I remember going to the doc for advice on it as I was worried about it getting bigger. He said that it could be removed easily but it would involve cutting into that area where the hair grows and could result in a wee bald patch - like I haven’t got enough of them already! This was a few months before our wedding so obviously I didn’t want to undergo a procedure where there was a risk I then might end up with a very exposed bald circle area right at the front of my hairline. It’s taken me 4 years to finally get so annoyed with it being there and with it sometimes being really sore to touch and changing in size (possibly hormones feeding it) and for me to get to grips with everything else going on in my body, that I now feel confident enough to go with the risk. I’m already covering up the rest of my hairline - what’s one more? 🤷🏻‍♀️
Anyway, back to the lipoma and why it’s become exposed now. So it might well be (MORE than likely!) that there’s several layers of fat underneath this lipoma that is yet to be dissolved by my weight loss, that it might still disappear deep into my abdomen and I won’t need it removed - who knows but that’s got me thinking about why we lose weight easily in some areas, not others.
Despite me having lost 3 stones, my bra size hasn’t changed that much. I’ve gone down a band size but stayed the same cup size. Despite me losing 3 stone, I’m still pretty much this “round” figure where my abdomen is huge BUT today I have noticed how much my hips stick out now, how bumpy they are to my figure and that must mean that I’ve lost weight on top now. Melting off my arms, around my rib cage and waist. It has made certain clothes look different on me. Apparently the first place a man loses weight is his belly whereas women lose weight all over but tend to hold onto weight in their thighs and hips. Well I’ve noticed my thighs smaller but definitely not my hips so maybe they’ll come off next? However, WHERE weight comes off is less about our natural body shape (I generally like my shape) and more about genetics, hormones and metabolism. The reason women hold on to hip, thigh & buttock fat is to do with the crucial childbearing areas. The increased fat in these areas is related to the higher levels of estranged necessary for fertility - well that must be a good sign for me then if that’s where i’m holding onto it currently - hormones must be changing for the better, I must be increasing my estranged levels. I’ve always gained fat in my belly first and that’s because women with PCOS have lower estrogen levels and higher testosterone. But the fact of the matter is, no matter what we do, we are likely to have no control over where we lose fat first. We can do exercise to tone up muscle and working out increases our metabolism meaning it helps us to get rid of visceral fat on our stomach and abs areas. The experts say our bodies have a mind of its own in terms of deciding where to lose weight and when. Oh well, I just have to be patient that my “shape” will come back again because I quite liked it.
