Hi Daisie. I was wondering who bradgouldtraining and piersjadam is? I saw a vid on twitter of Tom Skogs and a guy at Harry's show yesterday singing to Matilda, I assume it's Brad because they tagged him lol. The vid was posted by piersjadam who has a private insta acc but because I follow Xander's family I can see they follow him, and Jeff does too of course lol. So I assume they're connected to Harry's team?
Hi dear,
Brad is Harry's personal trainer. Piers Adams is Tom Skog's new boyfriend! That's why Harry's team follows him. Here's a pic of him and Tom:

THE PRIMROSE PATH
1939
The Primrose Path is a play by Robert L. Buckner and Walter Hart. Although it went uncredited, many believed the story was based on Virginia Lincoln’s novel February Hill.
“Himself the primrose path of dalliance treads, and recks not his own rede.”~ Hamlet I;iii
The story tells of a young woman determined not to follow the profession of her mother and grandmother, prostitution.
~ WALTER WINCHELL
The original production was produced and staged by George Abbott. It opened at New York’s Biltmore Theatre (now the Samuel J. Friedman) on January 4, 1939. It ran 166 performances.
The action is set in a small town near Buffalo NY, in and around the shanty home of the Wallace family. The original cast boasted two Bettys. Betty Garde (Clare Wallace) would originate the role of Aunt Eller in Oklahoma! just three years later. Betty Field (Emma Wallace) married dramatist Elmer Rice in 1942 and had three children with him.
Also in 1942, Helen Westley (Grandma) died, The Primrose Path being her final Broadway play. She died at her home in Middlebush, NJ, a suburb of Franklin Township.
“She had a theatrical appearance and manner, and dressed rather like a femme fatale—coal-black hair and black, slinky dresses. A little like Charles Addams’ young witch.” ~ Theresa Helburn, about Helen Westley
Television fans will probably recognize the description as Mortitia Addams on “The Addams Family”. Before the TV show, the sexy young witch had no specific identity. Coincidentally, when the film version of Primrose Path was made, the family surname was changed from Wallace to Adams (one d).
It was also the final show for Broadway veteran Phillip Wood (Homer Wallace). The uniquely named Florida Friebus (Maggie Wallace) was also a writer who penned a much-loved stage adaptation of Alice in Wonderland.
“Short on inhibitions, ‘The Primrose Path’ at its rosiest is all downhill and no brakes.” ~ TIME MAGAZINE
Instead of trying out in Atlantic City, a practice that thrived in the 1920s but was all but dead by 1939, the play was presented there after its Broadway run concluded as a stop on a multi-city tour.
The new cast played The Garden Pier Theatre on the Boardwalk on August 14, 1939. Although the ‘primrose path’ of the play’s title was metaphorical, the ‘garden’ in the pier’s name was not. The forecourt entrance of the pier was actually a garden with trees, grass, and flowers!
The Grove Theatre in Pennsylvania hosted the tour, but were cautious enough to limit attendance to adults. Curiously, it was programmed right after the wholesome Our Town. The controversy continued into 1940...
When a film version was made starring Ginger Rogers and Joel McRea. Although softened for cinema, and punishing one of the prostitute characters by killing them off, the film still made headlines.
The City of Detroit banned the film, along with Clark Gable’s new movie Strange Cargo, labeling them both ‘obscene’. Not so in Atlantic City, where illegal booze, gambling, and loose women were second only to the obvious attraction of its sandy beaches.
In August 1950 The Primrose Path was presented in a summer stock engagement at the Somerset Theatre in Fall River, Massachusetts. Ann Corio played the role of Emma.

NCIS: Los Angeles Season Eleven Rewatch: “A Bloody Brilliant Plan”
The basics: Two reformed British criminals enlist NCIS’s help in retrieving a kidnapped young woman.
Written by: Terence Nightingall, Kate D. Martin and Frank Military. Teleplay by: Frank Military.
This is both Nightingall's and Martin's first script.
Frank Military wrote/co-wrote "Little Angels", "Deliverance", "Lockup", "The Job", "Greed", "Betrayal", "Crimeleon", "Vengeance", "Out of the Past" Part One, "Rude Awakenings" Part Two, season four’s finale "Descent", season five’s premiere "Ascension", "Allegiance", "Spoils of War" (which he directed), "Black Budget", SEAL Hunter", "Rage" (which he directed), "Unspoken", "Unlocked Mind", "Revenge Deferred", "The Seventh Child", "Crazy Train", "Uncaged" (which he directed), "The Silo", "Monster", "Line in the Sand" (which he directed), season ten opener "To Live and Die in Mexico" (which he directed), "The Patton Project", "Better Angels" and "False Flag" (the season 11 finale).
Directed by: Terence Nightingall directed "Expiration Date", "Old Tricks", "Warrior of Peace" and "The Sound of Silence".
Guest stars of note: Medalion Rahimi returns from “Let Fate Decide” as NCIS Special Agent Fatima Namazi, Melise is back from “Liabilities” as Jennifer Kim, Vinnie Jones as Ricky Dorsey, Steve Valentine as Frankie Bolton, Marc Crumpton as Albert Goshman, Joss Glennie-Smith as Michael Giger, Simon Kim as Seok Nahng, Adam Blake as Steve McMillian, K. Harrison Sweeney as Micky, Stephen Marcus as Andy Green, Angus Benfield as Willie "Super Fat" Hollingsworth and Jessica Erin Martin as Angela Dorsey.
Our heroes: Star in a Guy Ritchie movie.
What important things did we learn about:
Callen: Dressed as a clown for a Halloween party. Sam: Not terrified of clowns, just doesn’t like them. Kensi: Snipering with ease. Deeks: On the outside of his snipering comfort zone. Eric: Not around. Nell: See Eric. Hetty: While absent, plying bad guys with whiskey.
What not so important things did we learn about:
Callen: From Deptford. Sam: Family is from Peckham. Kensi: A Bromley twist-and-twirl. Deeks: Croydon. Eric: See Nell. Nell: Not around. Hetty: Absent.
Who's down with OTP: They are snipering together.
Who's down with BrOTP: Sam and Callen are fine but I loved the friendship and respect Ricky and Frankie shared. True ride or die guys.
Any pressing need for a young FBI Agent: Not unless he could translate British English into SoCal English.
Who is running the team this week? Fans of British Cinema.
Fashion review: Blue checkered buttoned-down shirt for Callen. Sam wears a dark-blue, long sleeve tee-shirt. Kensi is wearing a grey-tee shirt. Deeks has blue tee. At the poker mansion, Callen is in medium blue suit, white dress-shirt with a blue tie and a tie clip. Sam is wearing a red non-suit suit with a black tee. Kensi is in a black, sleeveless, sequence gown. Deeks is wearing a dark blue, pinstripe suit with a cornflower blue polo that has white piping on the collar.
Music: “Green Onions” by Booker T and the MG’s is playing as Ricky sets up the undercover identities. “Every Trick in the Book” by The Allergies is playing in the pub at the end.
Any notable cut scene: No but I was hoping there would be a behind the scenes piece for this episode. There wasn’t.
Quote: Rick: “They spotted the old bill.” Callen: “English?” Frankie: “We invented English. It is our language. We can do with it what we want.”
Runner up: Sam: “Enough of the rhyming. I hate rhyming.” LL Cool J hates rhyming – you saw it here first.
Anything else: The previously-s are Granger promising to help Jennifer Kim on the Santa Monica Pier, Jennifer working with Callen and Sam, Granger apologizing for not being around as Jennifer’s father.
In Hampstead Heath, England, four men exit a SUV outside a fancy home. Two are wearing ski-masks. The man without the mask, a Mr. Cooper, is taken to the door and ordered to turn off his burglar alarm. Also, if Cooper types in teh panic code, the police will learn about everything Cooper has inside his home. Cooper thinks his captor’s breath smells like cat pee.
Inside the home, Cooper is ordered to open the safe. As a warn to his captors, Cooper promises to kill their families and their pets if he learns their identies. The fellow running the show threatens to blow off Cooper’s head but that won’t get teh safe opened. A threat to amputate finger and then other more delicate places makes Cooper a bit more cooperative. There are bars of gold in the safe. The three men leave with duffles filled with the gold bars.
Traveling to the Royal Air Force Base Lakenheath in England, the thieves are all dress members of the English Air Force. In an airplane hanger are coffins draped with US flags. The gold bars are going into an empty coffin before being sent to Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. A man in a dark suit and a hearse is there for the special coffin.
The hearse and its driver wind up in a garage where a large man is grilling. The driver turns over the casket and wants a meet set up. The man grilling is surprised to see the gold bars – didn’t think the man in the dark suit and his associates could pull it off. He has a buddy mocking the man in the suit. The man grilling does as well.
The man in the dark suit gets a phone call from Frankie, the leader of the thieves in London. Frankie will be in LA in 16-hours. They are going to get the man in the suit’s “girl” back. While the call is going on, the griller – Andy – is mocking the man in the suit. He asks Frankie to remind him to kill Andy when they’ve everything is wrapped up.
Sam and Kensi are waiting in the Challenger – Deeks’s CI gave them the location of a buy. Kensi points out the minivan they were told would be there. Sam is a little out of sorts – Kensi asks if he wants to talk about it. Sam doesn’t know what to talk about. Kensi suggests why she is working with Sam while Callen is “forced to work with Deeks today.” Sam is angry that Callen showed up at a Halloween party they both attended dressed as a clown. Sam doesn’t like clowns. When Callen showed up to work wearing a clown nose that day, Sam thought it was best if Callen annoyed Deeks instead. Callen has lost his Hellcat privileges, according to Sam.
Kensi laughs at the concept of Hellcat privileges until she realizes that Sam thinks riding in the Hellcat is truly a privilege. Callen and Deeks facetime Sam wearing clown noses, wondering if they should pick up the people in the minivan. Amused, then suddenly serious, Kensi calls Callen and Deeks disrespectful – asks if he wants her to talk to Callen and Deeks. Kensi of course, is also wearing a clown nose. Sam remains unamused.
The minivan leaves with Sam and Kensi in in tow. Callen and Deeks are in the big black SUV, cutting off the minivan. Inside are Frankie, the man who picked up the coffin, Andy and his buddy. Inside the trunk is nothing. Andy’s buddy was Deeks’s informant. Whatever he promised Deeks was not in the back of the minivan.
In a very talky but entertaining bit of exposition, the two men - Frankie and friend Ricky (the man in the suit) - explain that Andy the griller was their boss years ago but now is helping with a problem. The men wouldn’t mind a spot of tea, either. When not grilling, Andy is an arms dealer who stole the MAHEM weapons system. MAHEM shoots molten metal into armored vehicles. The two men think the weapon sounds “very Star Wars-y.” NCIS thought the weapon would be in the van. Ricky and Frankie can’t help so Callen and Sam hope they enjoy the next 15-years in jail.
Ricky would like NCIS to help him. He starts cooperating. Andy stole the MAHEM system but was looking for far more money than anyone was willing to pay. Ricky was approached by a man named Steve McMillian. McMillian wanted Ricky to get Andy to lower his price. Ricky has been out of the crime business for years – he’s reformed, changed his life. After Ricky turned him down, Rick’s daughter Angela was kidnapped. Ricky told Andy to sell the system – Ricky would make up the price difference.
Frankie jumps in. He “acquired” the necessary funds from a despicable criminal in London and shipped the funds to the US. Frankie joined Ricky in LA and traveled to Santa Clarita to drop off the weapon system and that’s where NCIS “jaspered the whole thing.” NCIS’s involvement had McMillian’s people run and Ricky still doesn’t have his daughter.
Fatima comes on comms with a British accent. Callen and Sam are not amused. Sam is also not aware it is Fatima – he thinks it Nell (who is visiting her Mom). Callen wonders why does everyone in Ops pretend to have an accent. Sam wants to know what Scotland Yard told Fatima but without the accent. Ricky and Frankie were criminals but have been clean for years. Frankie even volunteers at a hospital. Andy Green, the arms dealer, is wanted for a long list of crimes, including murder. The British government wants him extradited right away.
Kensi and Deeks arrive. They see Ricky and Frankie as good guys who made bad decisions for the right reasons. Micky, Deeks’s informant and Andy’s buddy, is a complete idiot according to Deeks. He confused the weapons drop location with the kidnapping drop. Deeks starts dropping into an English accent, much to Callen and Sam’s dismay. Ricky really doesn’t care what happens to him – he just wants his daughter back.
Ricky thinks if they are going to get MAHEM and his daughter back, Steve McMillian is the place to start. Fatima finds a Steve McMillian she thinks could be the right guy and Ricky confirms it is. Frankie thinks Fatima is the name of NCIS’s supercomputer – like Alexa and Siri. Callen won’t confirm or deny. Kensi and Deeks are going with Ricky and Frankie to see McMillian. Now Kensi has an English accent and Callen is really not amused.
In the Chevy Excursion SUV, Deeks drives with Kensi in the front seat, Ricky and Frankie in the back. Deeks approaches McMillian’s house only to see the door forced opened. He enters with Kensi – is leaving Ricky and Frankie outside to their own devices a good idea – and finds McMilian shot and bleeding out on his living room rug. Kensi asks McMillian who shot him. “Bottoms” is the answer just before McMillian expires.
Home security shows McMillian opening the door to a man he seemed to know only to be pushed into the residence with several men in hoodies following. McMillian grabbed the man at the door’s throat – he should have DNA of his attacker under his fingernails. Using McMillian’s GPS, Fatima found he regularly visited a home in Lake Sherwood. Sam thinks it looks like a rock star’s mansion.
Kensi shows the mansion to Ricky and Frankie. Ricky doesn’t recognize the place but Frankie does. It is owned by “Super Fat” Willie who runs a big poker game every day. There are five or six tables going at any time and all the players are British. There is no way the team can just pull up and ask questions. Kensi mentions “Bottoms”. Deeks thinks that’s the name of an arms dealer. Frankie disagrees – it could be a card player/cheater, someone who deals from the bottom of the deck. Frankie was a card cheat – “a damn fine one” – he knows things. Deeks thinks this is great – they all go to the house, Frankie spots the card cheat and they have the killer. It doesn’t work that way, Frankie explains. British citizens only. Deeks thinks they can pass – he’s seen “Mary Poppins”. Ricky doesn’t think looking like a skateboarder is going to get Deeks in.
In a terrific montage, Ricky explains that everyone’s look, jewelry and mannerisms have to be right. Callen is from Deptford, Sam is from Peckham, Kensi is a Bromley twist and twirl (a girl) while Deeks is from Croydon. Everything matters here – the jewelry, the cologne, the clothes are all specific from their fake hometowns. The vehicles they drive also have to be fine British cars. Kensi and Deeks arrive as a couple followed by Callen, Sam, Ricky and Frankie.
Super Fat Willie acts as a matre’d – assigning Kensi and Deeks to one table, Sam to a second and Callen a third. Ricky is moved to the back while Frankie floats over to Callen. Frankie notices right away that their dealer is dealing from the bottom of the pile. Franke winds up winning his hand. Callen walks away, Frankie takes his winnings and moves to the bar.
Ricky approaches Frankie. Frankie misses the life a little. Ricky talks him down. The dealer at Callen and Frankie’s table was cheating with help from the player at his immediate right. Looking around, however, Frankie sees a lot of people cheating. He wonders if this is nothing more than one big con being run by Super Fat Willie. When Callen’s dealer steps out for a smoke, Callen and Sam follow. The dealer is Michael Giger and he tells Callen and Sam, who have identified themselves as NCIS, that he doesn’t know Steven McMillian.
Joining Kensi and Deeks, Frankie notices immediately that their dealer is also working from the bottom of the deck. He’s also not nearly as smooth as the first dealer. Under the table, Kensi is working her foot up the dealer’s leg. She leaves and the dealer asks to be relieved. The dealer follows Kensi up to a bedroom in the mansion. Deeks pulls up the rear. In the bedroom, the second dealer doesn’t recall knowing Steve McMillian. While Callen and Sam are questioning their dealer and Kensi and Deeks are questioning theirs, a fight breaks out in the cards room. It seems Frankie was cheating – “it’s like a reflex.”
Both the dealers accuse the other of being “Bottoms”. Ricky wants to beat the truth of them. He’s happy to show Deeks how if someone has a crowbar. They dealers are off to the boat shed. Frankie approves – there are likely more crowbars and hammers there. Frankie even mentions a dentist drill. Good thing Deeks is putting one of the dealers in a car when that suggestion was made.
Fatima tells Callen and Sam that the FBI found DNA on Steve McMilian. Callen is worried about search warrants and time – they need to get the DNA from the dealers now. Irish whiskey is suggested by Frankie.
At the boat shed, Callen brings in the whiskey, courtesy of Hetty. He explains that they aren’t in all that much trouble and the dealers both enjoy a glass. Callen pours seconds just before Kensi arrives to announce last call. She bags and tags the dealers’ cups. Sam explains the wonderful world of DNA to the men.
A few hours later, Deeks arrives with the results. Sam takes Callen’s dealer to interrogation downstairs while Callen and Deeks handle the other dealer. Both dealers are being sold the same story – their DNA matches the DNA found on Steve McMillan’s body. Kensi and Deeks’s dealer let the killers into McMillan’s home. The dealer’s brother was threatened by a group of North Koreans. Callen and Deeks share a glance before Ricky breaks in. He’s ready to kill the dealer but the dealer is like Ricky – had a family member threatened. Sam knows someone with a background in North Korean spies. The dealer who was threatened is going to sit with a sketch artist to see if they can figure out who it is.
Kensi brings Jennifer Kim to the boat shed. She is doing well in the country. Even tried her hand at gardening until everything turned yellow and died. Frankie suggests composting – as an Englishman, he knows gardening. After bringing Jennifer up to speed about Ricky’s daughter Angela and the MAHEM weapon, she is shown the sketch of the man who killed McMillian. She recognizes Seok Nahng – he’s in the US under one of a dozen alias. If they want her help, Jennifer needs a deal – she needs to speak to them in private. In interrogation, Jennfier isn’t looking a deal, she was looking for some privacy. Angela is likely dead and if she’s not, she is going to wish she was. Nahng is a skilled torturer.
Since moving the MAHEM weapons system is too risky (and difficult), North Korea likely has engineers in LA learning everything they can about the weapon. They will take it apart, download all the computer codes. The spies won’t have to worry about transport the weapon if they know how it is built and how the computer internals work. The North Koreans don’t one weapon, they want hundreds.
Fatima pops up on the boat shed plasma. Frankie thinks she’s a virtual image created by the NCIS supercomputer. Nahng has two U.S passports, one as Michael Lee and one as Michael Park. Michael Park has a cell phone that is sitting Chevy Tahoe that is parked outside a warehouse in Pacoima. The team is on their way.
The team enters the warehouse but it is largely empty. There are remnants of what is likely one of the weapons system’s computers is on a work table. The cell phone was a set up to get the team to the warehouse. Sam realizes the North Koreans knew they were coming.
Tracing Nahng’s other cell phone, Fatima found a call made from Super Fat Willie’s phone. Only that call was made at the boat shed. That makes no sense to Fatima so she calls Super Fat’s phone. It rings in Ricky’s jacket pocket. Ricky stole the phone from Super Fat during the fight. Ricky thought he could save his daughter by tipping Nahng off. He agreed to trade Jennifer Kim for his daughter. North Korea wants their traitor spy back. And since Ricky tipped them off to NCIS’s movements, he’s earned some trust. Frankie thinks it is a bloody, brilliant plan.
Jennifer does not think it is a bloody, brilliant plan. She’s furious at NCIS but believes they were in the dark. North Korea wants her dead. Ricky tries to explain that Angela is a true innocent. Everything changed the day she was born. But he doesn’t think NCIS cares about Angela – only the weapons system. Sam fights back – they have been trying to save his daughter but Ricky made his own deal and one that is outside the normal risk. Ricky wants to know who is at risk besides Angela. Jennifer answers – she’s at risk.
The team is going to the meet and try to bluff that Jennifer is available to be traded. If they can’t get Angela, at least they can arrest Nahng. Jennifer wants to know how involved Ricky was with Angela’s life. Telling Jennifer he was in prison when Angela was born, Ricky first saw her at seven-months old and was with her every day after he was out of prison until she left for college. She’s the reason he’s a reformed criminal.
Nahng calls. He puts a crying Angela on the phone. When Nahng returns, he give Ricky an airplane hanger for the swap – Angela for Jennifer. Anyone else shows up, Angela dies. The swap is at a small airport in San Bernadino. The idea is to make the exchange and leave the country. Callen wants the REACT team a mile out. They will all barely get to the airport in time for the swap. Sam asks Fatima to call the FBI and have them monitor all aircraft in and out of the airport. Standing, Jennifer Kim agrees to help.
The airport should look familiar to Jennifer Kim since it looks like the Salt Lake City airport where Granger picked her up. Also looks like the airport where Spencer Williams sold guns to ATF. Deeks and Thapa may have been there too in “Frozen Lake”. Anyway, Jennifer agrees to be cuffed and walks toward the North Koreans. Feigning a struggle, Ricky thanks Jennifer. Jennifer tells Ricky he was always there for his daughter, unlike her father. “You did good, Ricky.”
Four men in a pick-up truck pull up. One is riding outside in the truck bed. Kensi has the truck in her sniper’s scope. Deeks has the FBI waiting – if the plane starts to take off, they’ll put firetrucks on the runway. Kensi can’t see Angela in the truck. Nahng leaves the truck, telling Jennifer it is time to go home. Ricky wants his daughter. After Nahng has Jennifer, then he’ll tell Ricky where he can pick up his daughter. Ricky walks, talking Jennifer with him. Nahng sees that Jennifer is handcuffed as they move away. Nahng calls them back – Angela is in the bed of the truck.
Deeks is set up with a long gun but thinks the “this is a long shot for me.” He is focused on one of Nahng’s bodyguards. Kensi is read to shoot the body guard holding Angela. That leaves Jennifer with Nahng. Jennifer starts making her way to Nahng but her handcuffs are now off. She also has a weapon. Jennifer is not moving quickly enough for Kensi to fire. When Nahng threatens to kill Jennifer on the spot, Kensi tells the team to “execute” and the shooting begins.
Kensi takes out the guard with the gun pointed at Angela. Jennifer does the same to Nahgn. Deeks misses his target initially, allowing the man to get off two shots – one hitting Ricky, one hitting Jennifer – before Deeks takes him down.
Angela races to her father as Callen and Sam arrive. Kensi notices one of Nahgn’s injured men was about to shoot Angela so she takes him down. Ricky had on a bulletproof vest but was shot in the shoulder. Jennifer’s bulletproof vest to the bullet intended for her. She’s has the breath knocked out of her but she’s fine.
In a British-style pub, Callen tells Jennifer that the MAHEM weapon was retrieved. After all she did today, Callen wants Jennifer moved to witness protection. No more guards, back to living a normal life. Jennifer explained that while she was working as a spy, she truly believed she was doing the right thing. After today, saving Angela and bringing her home to her father, she was doing a good thing – it defines who she is. Callen thinks she’s Granger’s daughter. The two talk about estranged fathers who aren’t bad men, just aren’t around.
Ricky arrives at the pub – he escaped the hospital. Angela and Frankie are with him. The group toasts to tough guys, fathers, daughters, old criminals, friends and the little gangster in all of them.
What head canon can be formed from here: The idea of doing a really different episode once a season is interesting, especially when it is this well done. CSI use to have an episode like this every season – the corpses in autopsy would review their unfortunate demises, the story was told from the point of view of the criminal. Some worked, some didn’t. But it was a nice way to mix things up. The high quality guest stars – Vinny Jones and Steve Valentine were excellent choices
I think this episode was wonderful. Wouldn’t want it every week but it was a treat.
Episode number: Episode 246 – nice round numbers. Episode six of season 11.

Texas Talks
For some ungodly reason they were in Galveston.
Honestly, they didn’t have to stay in the US. And even if they did they had certain areas of California, New Jersey… hell, basically anywhere that wasn’t constantly crawling with JL surveillance were prime meet-up spots. Any city in any country on any continent on this god-forsaken planet, so why? Why were they in Galveston? Of all places for Harley to choose…
But the clown had been adamant then and she was adamant now. Her (admittedly blood sprinkled) wheeled boots skipping against the wood, Harley skated to the very edge of the pier. A yelp escaped as her heelys caught in a knot and she tumbled head over end, catching herself with a springing handstand.
She shook her head as she shakily regained her balance, giggling to herself as she rolled further along the pier. Her friends’ silent questions were loud in the air and Harley did a little spin, her chuckles escaping louder. “Come on, you guys! Where else can we be just a few minutes away from Texas City! And look at all that water,” The blonde tossed her head back, laughing at the fine saltwater mist that hit her face.
Another loud laugh bubbled out of her, as Harley simply enjoyed the bright shine of the full moon on her skin and the uneasy creak of the wooden dock below her feet. Talia stepped up until they were shoulder to shoulder, taking a careful sniff of the sea air. Emerald eyes narrowed, partly in suspicion but mainly in confusion, “Have you ever even been to this Texas City place?”
The clown hesitated, her head tilting to the side as she thought back throughout her exploits, alongside Mister J or not, “Well, no. But it’s Texas City. In Texas! How funny is that?”
She nudged Talia with her shoulder, turning her head as Raven floated up on her other side. A wide grin spread her lips at the sight of the hero, “And my next choice is totally gonna be Aerial Acres.”
The demoness let out a sigh at the familiar name. Amethyst eyes narrowed in thought a second later as the answer came to her, “Is there a California City near there?”
“Oh you know it, Birdie!”
Harley’s words were excited and Talia paused despite the tiny smile that inadvertently graced her face. The assassin’s head tilted to the side and she tucked some hair behind her ear, “Do you think you’ll get a chance to do all fifty states?”
“I think we will.” Harley grinned and wrapped an arm around her two beloved partial-demons, rolling back and forward until her heelys lit up, “What’s the point of all this travelling if I’m not meeting up with my two favorite killjoys in every city imaginable?”
The assassin snorted at that. “Besides,” The blonde’s smile turned even more devious than usual, “If we keep near the shore I might even convince you two to get some bikinis. I’m not sure about you, but Ray Ray seems the strappy string type.”
Raven let out a sound that might have been a groan, but was probably just a sigh. “Harley, you are hilarious,” she deadpanned.
“Aw c’mon, Raebae!” Harley’s grin was finally reaching obnoxious levels, “Tell me you don’t get tons of beachtime in Jump.”
The girl shrugged, meeting Talia’s gaze as they leaned against the pier’s guardrails. Bubbly as ever, especially with the adrenaline of sneaking past the guards still flowing through her veins, Harley cheerfully rested her arm on the teen’s head. She couldn’t help herself, the demon was so short it was adorable, “What about you, Tal? When’s the last time you got some surfing in?”
The assassin leaned her head against her shoulders, “I don’t surf.” But her voice trailed off, wistful as she thought back to the last time she was near the ocean like this. Raven leaned forward at the subtle shift in her emotions, curious at what Talia was thinking of.
She didn’t have to wait long. The woman ran a hand through her long hair and, a short pause later, hummed out, “I stayed on the shore a while back… but I was with my Beloved.”
Harley raised a brow in question, lazily resting her chin atop Raven’s head. The Titan didn’t pull away; instead, she lifted her face and murmured an explanation, “She means Batman.”
“Ah,” The blonde nodded in realization then faltered. She blinked and met Talia’s gaze. Before they could consider their choices of finding out how the empath knew of Talia’s past relationship (and of what else she may know) Raven decided to get the inevitable out of the way early and offered the information, “I already know who he is; no need to worry and no need to pester.”
Harley tapped the dip in her cloak, her finger warm against her gem. Raven closed her eyes at the wave of exasperation that radiated off the blonde, “I don't even know but you do?! Ugh.”
She face planted down into the indigo cloak, sighing in good-natured annoyance at the unfairness of it all. Harley didn't see but she felt the dangerous vibes that Talia was giving off and she lifted her head again.
The clown clicked her tongue, guessing, “Robin told you?”
Raven shook her head immediately, noticing how the assassin's chin lifted a centimeter in thought. “He’s Nightwing now, but he didn’t have to. I’m an empath,” The hero shrugged, being careful not to disrupt Harley’s balance. “With the little that I knew, it’s not too hard to figure it out who either of them are, especially when their auras are rather… unique.”
Amethyst eyes shifted to the moonlit waves, pointedly ignoring the tense way Talia sized her up. This odd friendship was preventing her from being murdered and Talia from being sent to a different dimension, so she simply addressed the brunette, “For what it's worth he did complain a lot when you and Batman were together. Called you arrogant.”
Talia's gaze didn't stray from the girl's pale face but she let a tiny bit of tension leave her shoulders. Dick had had many trusted teammates throughout his brief life; the likelihood of all of them knowing wasn't the best but she decided that this particular conversation could wait, at the very least until it was just the two of them.
Emerald eyes flicked to Harley for a brief instant then went back to the wooden railing under her arms. She derisively waved the comment aside, “Nightwing is merely a child. He still has a lot to learn.”
Harley snorted. She leaned her cheek in her palm, her lashes fluttering shut as another wave of mist landed on her face. The siren drummed a nail against her lower lip, “You’re like two, maybe three years older than him.”
“She’s far older than that.”
Talia gave the Titan a look, running a tongue over her teeth. Then she glanced at Harley and reminded herself that patience was the best bet and haughtily admitted, “I’m just over 100 years old, actually.”
Raven’s brows jumped up at the number, the word escaping before she could think, “Impressive.”
The doctor agreed, bouncing up to sit stop the railing. She savored the sound of her wheels rolling against the air and added, “Right? Ten decades and Bloody Mary doesn’t even need a push-up bra.”
Talia gave her a look, missing how Raven hid half a smile behind her cloak.
Harley continued as if she wasn’t being glared at, “Though I gotta admit, didn't think Batsy was into older women.” The blonde drummed her fingers against her thigh, teasingly musing to herself, “Think Kitty’s got a few years on him?”
Raven shrugged, “Probably, people usually get more solitary in old age.”
Talia crossed her arms as she watched them talk. The empath’s eyes squinted out towards the sea, trying to remember, “Isn't Catwoman a loner too?”
“Well, yeah. But Bats is way more extra about it all. Like we once saw him brooding next to a gargoyle in the rain.” She shook her head, “Like yeah, Robin’s there sometimes but he’s that sorta ‘I gotta do it all myself’ loner. At least Kitty'll come to Pam and me if she needs anything.”
Talia hummed out a defense, “He's a private person, Harley. You aren't the type at all.”
Raven hummed in agreement, thinking of the scant times she'd met the man, at Dick’s side or otherwise. “Batman does put off some antisocial vibes.”
“Some?” Harley snickered, “Yeah, he’s a total hard ass.”
The assassin sighed out, the words escaping before she could think, “Oh, absolutely.”
Immediately, Raven’s nose scrunched up in horror and Harley let out a cackle, falling back. A beam of magic caught her wrists and she scrambled to regain her balance, giggling all the while. She jumped down from the railing and covered the mystic’s ears, her grin splitting her face, “Holy shit, Darlin! We have a child present!”
“Shut up.”
“Not funny.”
The siren slumped against the railing as she continued to laugh, taking far too much fun in how dark Talia’s cheeks were getting and how mortified Raven looked at the way their conversation was going.
“I didn’t think we’d ever get you to--”
Her teasing stopped at the sound of a dolphin breaching, its high pitched squeal filling the air. Almost immediately after there was the loud splat! of a clump of seaweed getting entangled along the rocky sand. The dolphin’s pod splashed around, their bodies just barely silhouetted in the moonlight.
Harley gasped and crouched on her heelys, eagerly slapping Raven’s shoulder at the incline that she needed to get over, “Push me, Moonbeam! I gotta see this!”
A shove of black magic sent her skating by at a troublingly fast pace, but she saw them. Dolphins. The blonde let out a giggle as she started using her momentum to go faster, using all the pier that she had to wave bye to them as the mammals swam past.
Then that speed caught up to her and she tumbled over the edge, jumping to get as much air as she could.
Raven’s magic caught her before she fell into the ocean, of course.
Harley let out a laugh that mingled with the rhythmic crash of waves, beaming at her friends as the mage set her down on the sand, a few feet from the water. Immediately a shine of something shiny caught her eye and the clown grabbed a stick, poking the pile of seaweed.
Up on the dock Raven watched her progress, stoic as Talia leveled a stare that surpassed Batman’s upon her. After a long minute the Titan turned to the woman, amethyst eyes settling on the sword’s hilt that was in clear view.
Of course. If she had constant access to her powers, why shouldn’t Talia have access to her weapons? Harley seemed to be the only one comfortable enough to not bring any aids from her own arsenal whenever they met up, and while they trusted Harley their own one-on-one relationship was… not as amiable.
Raven looked back up into that dangerously focused emerald gaze. “Talia,” She stared at the assassin for a long moment, her voice low. “I know these… excursions end at dawn, but the rest of the Titans won’t mind if I miss most of the day.” Her pale hands brushed aside her cloak as she hid them from view, the magic leaving as easily as it appeared.
Her eyes were practically black in the night as she leveled an almost-glare on the older woman, “We can talk without killing each other and without Harley having to babysit us, correct?”
The teen’s words weren’t a question. Talia smirked, although it didn’t reach her eyes, “I won’t hesitate to kill you.”
Raven’s face didn’t shift and the villainess hissed out, “You could become a villain just as easy as you act a hero. The fact that you were even able to find out--”
“Two years ago.”
Tan lips shut and she took a breath through her nose, continuing on without acknowledging the addition, “--is an unforgivable liability.”
Her fingers tensed against the hilt of her sword, but she didn’t unsheath it. Talia’s shoulders lowered half an inch, the tension still loud as she admitted, “But you don’t seem nearly as weak as Selina, so I’ll see.”
Something precarious slid between them as the sword was moved back in place, then an interruption before either could think too much about it. Their heads snapped to Harley as she let out a whoop, lifting a dinner plate sized clam out of the sand, “Hey look at this!”The creature obviously died years ago, its weathered shell completely empty. The siren glanced between the two, her emotions and body language pointing to how obviously relieved she was that their fight didn’t get physical. When she was certain she had their full attention, Harley was careful not to snap her find apart as she held the shells up to her chest, “Pam’s the redhead, but I can probably pull them off, dontcha think?”
Talia raised a brow and that was enough of an answer.
The siren reached back to fiddle with her bra’s clasp as she called out to them, “Y’all wanna see me try it on?”
“No!”
“Maybe.”
A pause, then a second resounding, “No.”
