Hi!! I love this series so much, and as someone who hasn’t really drawn since they were a kid but wants to start as a hobby, do you have any advice for sort of learning to doodle on paper and get better at it? I want to start but I don’t really know how/where
The most important step in getting better at any skill is Persistence and Consistency. Practice and keep practicing! The best way to do that is to keep it fun! Picking a project helps generate ideas (e.g. drawing Pokémon, or characters from a series you like). There are also a ton of monthly prompt lists out there!
I also highly recommend scheduling in a 'drawing/practice' time in your day. For me, I started with 30-60 min before bed (bonus: its a good 'no screentime' activity), and the habit took root there.
There are a lot of 'technical' things to study but find the fun first. At a certain point you will discover you've hit a wall, and have a specific aspect/goal you want to target (colour theory, anatomy, lighting, comic layout). Then it's time to go looking for resources.
Once you have the habit and some goals, go collect some inspiration! Find people who inspire you and study their work!
Another little 'art skill builder' I recommend is the Shrimp Method! Only if you find technical challenges like this fun though (Example of one of my studies below)

the thing about me is I could never just be a guitar or bass player because my desire to lead the narrative as also a singer (and songwriter) is so intense the only thing that could override it is my deep passion for percussion/drumming.

Website: https://www.debbiedeane.com/
Address: Brooklyn, New York, USA
Debbie Deane hails from a musical world without boundaries, where singer-songwriters and top-tier jazz musicians breathe the same creative air. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Debbie grew up listening to Carole King, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, and Steely Dan. As a teenager she explored the fertile ground of the Great American Songbook. Introduced to folk, funk and fusion by her older brother, she studied the great divas of the jazz and pop worlds developing an intense interest in jazz harmony. Music was the ultimate refuge.
After earning a degree in English Literature from Harvard, Debbie embarked on a career in music. She studied jazz intensively at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, honing the piano skills that she continues to display as a singer-songwriter. At first her songwriting and singing came as an afterthought, but then took center stage.
In her performing and recording life, Debbie had the good fortune to work with  acclaimed jazz musicians who share her interest in quality songwriting — people like drummer Brian Blade and the late, great bass player Jeff Andrews.  Moving back to Brooklyn, she lived in a ""jazz den"" with some of the city’s most promising jazz musicians, including saxophonists Seamus Blake and Terry Deane, drummer Marc Miralta and pianists John Stetch and George Colligan. ""Everyone came through our place,"" says Debbie. ""The people I’ve played with, they’re all my friends and they’ve known me, they’ve been my roommates and people I went to school with."" Their presence on Debbie’s recordings and at her live shows is a powerful endorsement.
Debbie continues to gig extensively in New York and beyond.
Piano Lessons:
Debbie Deane has been a piano teacher for over 20 years. She teaches out of her home in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn, specializing in kids ages 6 and up.
She teaches the fundamentals and basics - scales, reading music, music theory, and playing by ear. Her students play a lot of songs. Each student is different, and she tailors lessons accordingly. As a result, she teaches all styles of music. She does have a soft spot for Bach and Beethoven, so everyone has to try classical, which is great for technique.

#wooo tag rant!#this feels too silly to talk to friends about (and also feels a little like bragging which I’m NOT but)#but some stuff has happened in the last week that made me sad so. here we are.#for some context: I’ve always loved music. I sang constantly when I was younger (much to my parents amusement and therefore belittling)#I took piano lessons for five years and cello for three or four#both of those my parents were hugely supportive of#but neither of them were really It for me#I really really wanted to sing#finally in early middle school I talked my mom into letting me take a group voice class at our nearby music school#I didn’t think that would go anywhere of course#but the teacher of the class disagreed#she moved her entire schedule around to make room for me to take lessons with her#she immediately had me fast tracked to the basically honors program in the school. super performance based super exclusive#I’m pretty sure she tried to get lesson prices lowered for me#it was. amazing.#and also the first time I really felt like an adult thought I had potential for something?#I took lessons with her for a few years. I was about to be accepted into the honors program. and then I got my wisdom teeth removed.#tldr we don’t really know what the fuck happened but the muscles in my jaw went insane. I was in constant pain for like two years.#I tried to stick with voice but I just. had to quit.#I went back with a different teacher later in high school but had to deal with Constant complaints about it from my parents.#and when that teacher fell through I just. stopped trying.#my jaw is a lot better now. but I still don’t sing much because it all just. makes me so sad.#it’s this constant reminder of pain and having to quit something I’d dreamed about for Years and having my parents just… not care.#I’m just. so angry and sad.#this was something I loved. and I was good at it.#and now I barely sing in private.#I went to a cool chapel a few days ago that had amazing acoustics and was empty. and it was the first time I had fun singing in. years.#but then I tried again today and felt miserable.#idk.#I miss singing. I miss music.

How to Choose the Best Guitar Class in Your Area?
Embarking on a journey to learn the guitar is an exciting decision. Whether you're a complete novice or looking to improve your skills, finding the right guitar class is crucial for your musical development. With so many options available, how do you choose the best guitar class in your area? Here are some key factors to consider to ensure you find the perfect match.
Tumblr media
Research and Reviews
Start by researching local options for Guitar Classes Near Me. Look for reviews and testimonials from current and former students. Online platforms like Google, Yelp, and social media can provide valuable insights into the quality of instruction and the overall experience. Pay attention to comments about the instructor's teaching style, the progress students have made, and the general atmosphere of the classes.
Instructor Qualifications
The qualifications and experience of the instructor are critical. Look for teachers who have a solid background in music education and performance. Experienced instructors are more likely to provide effective and structured Guitar Lessons For Beginners. Don't hesitate to ask about their credentials, teaching philosophy, and experience with students at your skill level. You might also consider instructors who offer Singing Classes Near Me or Clarinet Lessons Near Me if you are interested in multiple instruments.
Teaching Style and Approach
Everyone learns differently, so it's important to find an instructor whose teaching style matches your learning preferences. Some teachers focus on theory and technique, while others might prioritize practical playing and song learning. Consider whether you prefer a more structured curriculum or a flexible, student-led approach. This is especially relevant if you're looking for specific types of lessons, like Beginner Piano Lessons For Adults or Violin Lessons For Adults Near Me.
Class Structure and Size
Class size can significantly impact your learning experience. Smaller classes or one-on-one sessions often provide more personalized attention and faster progress. If you prefer a social learning environment, group classes might be more enjoyable. Ensure that the class structure aligns with your learning goals and comfort level. Some local music schools might also offer Adult Music Lessons in a variety of instruments, so explore all available options.
Tumblr media
Convenience and Flexibility
Convenience is a major factor, especially for adults balancing multiple responsibilities. Look for classes that fit your schedule and are easily accessible. The location of the class should be convenient to minimize travel time. Additionally, some instructors offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your busy lifestyle. For instance, if you live in New Jersey, searching for Piano Lesson NJ might yield local options that suit your needs.
Conclusion
Choosing the best guitar class in your area involves careful consideration of several factors, from instructor qualifications to class structure and convenience. By doing thorough research and considering your personal learning style, you can find a class that will help you achieve your musical goals. Whether you're starting with Guitar Lessons For Beginners or looking to expand your skills with Adult Music Lessons in other instruments, the right class is out there waiting for you.

Benefits Of Playing Piano
Tumblr media
Learning And Playing Piano Opens Any remaining Instruments
This in fact applies to all console instruments, however turning into a talented musician fits this advantage too.
With present day sound innovation, there are a lot of virtual instruments to browse. These instruments are to a great extent constrained by MIDI data, and what preferred method for furnishing MIDI over with a MIDI console?
On the off chance that we can become capable at playing the piano lessons for adults, we can successfully set off any virtual instrument, including synthesizers, symphonic instruments, drums, and even foley and impacts.
The one thing to keep an eye out for here is that not all instruments play like the piano. Truth be told, scarcely any do (other than the organ and some synths). Hence, while controlling a virtual instrument with a console, give your all to study and play the instrument's impediments on how that instrument would be played normally. For instance, a trumpet plays each note in turn in a 3-octave range, so don't endeavor to play the full 7+ octave range with 88-note polyphony (except if you're being exploratory).
Console Instruments
This advantage additionally applies to all chromatic console instruments. The design of the piano is really spotless and straightforward, having each progressive key a semitone span over the past (from left to right).
Learning the piano console will permit a performer rules over all styles of pianos, from upstanding and terrific to computerized and electric. This design is additionally shared by numerous different instruments, including the organ, marimba, vibraphone, xylophone, glockenspiel, a few synthesizers and a few accordions.
However these instruments vary by they way they produce sound, their note format (consoles) are to a great extent the equivalent. Learning the notes, stretches, harmony shapes, and examples of the piano will place us in a good position when it comes time to play these other console instruments.
Learning And Playing Piano Further Develops Discipline And Focus
Learning any instrument takes a huge venture of time and exertion. Learning and playing piano at a general takes discipline and focus.
These abilities (discipline and fixation) can be learned and created with cognizant practice. From the mechanics to the inside and out hypothesis, figuring out how to play the piano is a pleasant method for creating discipline and focus.
Dominating the piano takes an enormous measure of discipline and focus, which are characteristics we can use in numerous different parts of our lives.
